This isn’t a bodega
based off this prompt
-
Tim stared at the glowing boy that had just entered the cave. the boy seemed unreal, with pale skin, white hair, and a vacant expression. they glowed with a faint white light and were floating a few inches off the ground. the blinked a few times looking around the cave as though they were lost.
“are you guys seeing this?” Tim asked, making eye contact with the boy. his eyes were glowing a familiar Lazarus green. Tim would normally take that as a sign that they were here as a threat except the being was raising it’s eyebrows and looking confused as hell.
“hmm?” Dick hummed, not looking up from his spot at the bat computer.
“the glowing dead kid,” Tim clarified.
Dick yawned, “i think you need some sleep, Timmy.” he still hadn’t looked up.
Tim frowned. he was tired. he didn’t think he was hallucination tired yet though, that usually hit around the three day mark. Tim was solidly at two and a half. but no one else seemed to be acknowledging the being so Tim did the only logical thing.
he approached the boy to get more information. normally that would be considered dumb and reckless, but hey, it wasn’t like he was alone. if the being started attacking him, the others would at least notice that.
“are you real?” was the first thing he asked the glowing boy. it seemed best to rule that out first.
the boy blinked a few times. “i think so. i mean probably.”
Tim nodded, more to himself than as an answer.
the boy gazed at Tim, “this isn’t a bodega.”
Tim nodded again, this time in agreement. he was right about the boy seeming lost.
they stared at each other for what most would consider an awkward amount of Tim.
“can you point me to the nearest source of coffee?” the boy asked.
coffee, mmmm...
Tim took a moment to process the rest of the sentence. “oh, uh... Alfred cuts me off after midnight now.” he pouted. he wasn’t allowed to drink the coffee that was upstairs.
“okay.” the boy said.
the stood silently again. Tim thought some more.
“there’s a gas station on the edge of the city limits that’s not far. probably only 7 miles or so.”
the boy lit up. literally, his glow brightened. “can you show me?”
“oh yeah, for sure, the coffee is crap but it’ll do the job. can I come? I need to get my bike.”
“Dude, of course you can come, i have no idea where you’re talking about and I somehow ended up underground. I need you, bro.” the boy said reaching out a gloved hand. Tim noticed that he was wearing a hazmat suit for some reason. he didn’t recognize the company logo on the front. “and don’t worry about the bike, I can just fly us there.”
oh so he was a superhero. that made sense and probably explained why he was glowing and floating and could access the cave despite the security.
Tim took the heroes hand, smiling happily. he was gonna get him some coffee
-
Dick went to bed, under the impression the Tim had already went up. Bruce, who had a meeting in the morning, had already headed to bed and left his kids to finish the case files for the night. Damian had gone to bed the moment they returned from patrol because he had school in the morning.
it would be many hours before anyone noticed Tim wasn’t in his bed or at his job. Bruce and Damian went off to where they needed in the morning. Alfred had knocked lightly on Tim’s door but decided to let the boy sleep in. dick had slept in and spent the morning lazing around the manor because he had another day before he had to return to Bludhaven.
it was around noon when Alfred decided to properly wake Tim up and found his bed empty. he asked dick if he’d seen him. dick answered in the negative. he called Tam at Wayne Enterprise and received a negative answer. he texted and called Tim’s cell phone and received no answer, only later finding the phone in the batcave charging on an outlet. Alfred was starting to feel concerned so he contacted Barbara.
it turned out the last anyone had seen Tim had been last night when dick told him to go to bed. Barbara checked the batcave camera’s and found something quite bizarre. a spot of static appeared on the cameras from multiple angles. it was like the static was in reality rather than a glitching of the screens.
Tim stared at it. Dick didn’t notice it. Tim walked up to it. Tim seemed to talk to the static for a long moment. Tim touched the static, Tim's form became static. the static disappeared soon after. all this happened unnoticed behind Dick’s back.
Barbara set out a red alert and started searching her cameras for any other instances of static since Tim had gone missing at 1:34am. it had been almost 12 hours.
-
the trip to the gas station had been uneventful by Tim's standards. they flew over, entered the shop portion and ordered coffee. the worker barely blinked at the glowing boy, and he was well used to seeing Tim at ant hour. the hero paid for both their drinks and Tim held and sipped at his paper cup.
ahhh, this was shit. but it was warm and caffeinated and that had to be enough for now.
slowly some of his finer brain functions came back to him and he found himself staring at the glowing boy and realizing he had no idea who the guy was or even if he was registered with the league. he’d bought Tim coffee so he doubted the boy was evil, but hallucinations didn’t generally buy him coffee so this might well be a person he was interacting with.
“what’s your name?” he asked belatedly
the boy sipped his own coffee. “Danny.” he said as though he too were confused at how they had both wound up there but was too content to drink shitty gas station coffee to act overly concerned. “you?”
Tim glanced down at his clothes to see if he was still wearing his costume. he wasn’t he was wearing bike shorts and a large pink t-shirt that said “snexy (snail sexy)” in bold letterers. his guess was that it used to belong to either Dick or Steph. it was his now. “Tim,” he finally answered.
Danny nodded. “so want me drop you off back home?”
Tim tilted his head, turning his cup in his hand. he wasn’t allowed to have the coffee at home. “i have time,” he decided.
Danny nodded again. “is there a place to get better coffee at this time of night?” he asked, clearly knowing that the shitty gas station coffee wouldn’t sustain him for long. Tim of course agreed.
“there’s a 24 hour internet cafe on grotto st.”
Danny held out his hand. “lets go”
-
Tim and Danny ended up playing doom in the internet cafe for 4 hours. Danny it turned out was really good at it and knew a lot of cheat codes Tim didn’t. Tim tried not to take that personally. it was still surprisingly fun and normal and no one has tried to kill them in the 5 hours they’d been out. Tim wondered if Danny was shielding them from harm or something. maybe he was just lucky? Tim didn't want to jinx it.
finally they wound down, the workers were changing shift and that was usually a good indicator that it was time to leave. Tim stretched and Danny stretched further. he reminded Tim of Dick a bit, it was like his bones were made of rubber or something.
“now what?” Danny asked and Tim checked his watch. he was definitely hitting the territory of sleep deprivation where he’d start hallucinating and he doubted Danny would be much help given he also was clearly just as sleep deprived as time. they’d both been chugging espresso while playing doom. Tim felt wired but also tired.
never let it be said that he didn’t recognize his own limitations. “guess we should probably head to bed. you live near here?”
“me? live?” the boy chuckled raising his eyebrows. then his smile dropped. “i have no idea where here is.”
“okay, that’s chill. i’m too tired to think of a solution yet, so how about we just crash at one of my safe houses and i’ll call you a cab when we wake up and figure out where you’re from.”
the boy made a face, possibly because Tim said safe house instead of apartments. but shrugged anyway. “sounds good to me.”
-
the nearest safe house was one of Jason's but Tim doubted he’d be using it or mind overly much if Tim slept there. Jason was one of the biggest worriers about Tim's sleep schedule so he’d probably appreciate the fact that Tim was sleeping.
Danny crashed on the couch and Tim watched as two rings of light spread from his middle out and turned him into a normal looking teenager in ratty clothes. it was honestly better than a hazmat suit. he even stopped glowing and floating. so Tim mentally shrugged and put it in the superpower column of what he knew about Danny and went to the bed to sleep.
it was several hours later, but not long enough that someone burst into the apartment. Danny being closer to the door rolled blearily to his feet and raised his fists to fight whatever ghost had decided to interrupt his nap. Tim wasn’t far behind, bursting out of the bedroom holding a long lamp as a makeshift staff.
“what the fuck, Tim!” Jason yelled and Tim needed a moment to process that it was his brother who burst in.
“oh, hi, Jason,” Tim put the lamp down but Danny didn’t leave his fighting stance. he looked slightly more confused and relaxed when no one immediately attacked him.
“don’t hi me, where the fuck have you been? who the fuck is that orphan wannabe? what’s going on?”
Tim, still half asleep, shrugged. “that’s Danny.”
Danny was staring at Jason with squinted eyes. “you smell bad.”
“excuse you?” Jason hissed eyes flashing green.
understanding dawned on Danny's face, an expression Tim had found to be rare in the hours he’d known Danny.
Danny stepped out of his fighting stance and went to stand directly in front of Jason. “any recent portal accidents, my guy?”
“what?” Jason asked, only to be cut off by Danny shoving his hand into his chest. there was no blood or gore or anything. Danny just cleanly passed through Jason like he was made of mist.
“what are you doing!?” Jason gasped alarmed as Danny seemed so rotate his hand like he was spinning yarn around it. time was also getting alarmed and picked his lamp back up. before he could hit Danny over the head with it though, Danny finished what ever he was doing and pulled his hand out of Jason’s chest. Jason was seemingly uninjured.
around Danny's hand was what looked like red glowing goo. the slime ran down his fingers and smelled rank even from this distance.
“all done,” Danny said sleepily and reached into a back pocket with his clean hand to pull out a thermos. he clicked a button and suctioned the red goo off his hand with a flash of light.
“what the hell...” Jason whispered, putting a hand to his chest. he no longer felt the hazy green pit rage that had haunted him for the last three years.instead there was just a feeling of warmth. like a hot bath, like steam at the center of his being. “what did you do to me?”
Danny yawned. “cleaned your plasm. you smell less like fruit loop now.”
that clarified nothing.
“what are you?” tim asked, now somewhat awake enough to ask the questions he didn’t last night.
“halfa” Danny shrugged. “so is this guy, though he’s a lot weaker. needs to drink him some non-contaminated ectoplasm. will probably help stabilize his core.”
“what...?” Jason said. he was still whispering, clearly going into some sort of shock.
Tim inwardly shrugged. he needed coffee before he could start a proper interrogation. “hey Jay you have any coffee?”
Jason gave him an incredulous look, but Danny hummed in agreement and started checking cabinets
“i should probably head back to my hotel before my sister freaks out,” Danny said finding the beans and giving a small cheer. Tim cheered with him and helped Danny set up the pot. Jason was still standing in the doorway, hand against his chest and staring into space like he was haunted by something. “i had fun though. it’s been a while since I've had such a normal outing.”
Tim thought for a moment about everything they did and the weirdness that was Danny. finally he hummed in agreement. it was one of his more normal outings. “wanna exchange numbers?”
“sure,” Danny said. “we should do this again sometime.” Danny glanced at Jason. “and i guess you should call me if you guys have any questions about him. being a halfa isn’t easy, especially when you’re figuring it out alone.”
“halfa...” Jason repeated in a distant voice.
the coffee finished brewing and Tim poured them both a mug. Danny took a deep sip, cradling the cup in his hands and just enjoying the aroma and moment. he wrote his number on a napkin on the counter and then smiled brightly at Tim. this time he wasn’t literally glowing, but it was no less bright.
“see ya, Tim” he said transforming in a flash of light and flying through the wall. he took the coffee mug with him.
Tim blinked several times sipping his coffee and finally waking up enough to realize that that was not at all a normal encounter and he probably should have asked a lot more questions and what the hell did that kid do to Jason? Tim looked at the number on the napkin and hoped it was real because he definitely had questions.
maybe if he was lucky this would all be a hallucination after all.

The Super-Switch
(part 3)
being the most responsible member of the justice league was exhausting.
take today for instance, batman had thankfully stopped the potential catastrophe that was two insanely powerful individuals incapable of controlling their newly acquired powers charging into battle. superman and phantom switching places was hedging on disaster even now, because despite the quality of their character, they both were powerful enough to destroy the world, especially if a fight between them were to escalate too far.
batman, ever cautious has been putting counter measures for the possibility in place for years and honestly he was grateful that he wouldn’t have to use them yet. both heroes were be cooperative and despite some sharp barbs at each other and general frustration at the circumstance, they weren’t attacking each other.
however, that did not make the situation any easier. batman would always be thankful that things haven’t reached the worst case scenario but that didn’t change the fact that bad is bad.
they had returned to the space station and the secure training facility within it. they had started to lay the ground works of a plan and were meanwhile getting phantom and superman to adapt to their current bodies.
the plan was simple enough. the flash, wonder woman, hawk man, and hawk woman would be pursuing the ghost that had performed the switch. batman had already acquired a military stock of fenton technology so they were well armed and phantoms profile on the ghost was impressively detailed. though there was some humor to be found in the caps lettered “DON’T MAKE WISHES OR SAY THE WORDS I WANT OR I WISH IN HER PRESENCE OR AT ALL!” the warning was reiterated several times throughout the profile and clarified she’ll grant the wish even when you can’t see her.
phantom and superman were, for their part anxious about leaving the hunting to others. phantom especially holding a sense of responsibility because ghost hunting is his department. superman was insisting his own involvement because a slight sense of guilt over making the wish. batman and several other members of the league had backed phantom up and chastised the hero for his loose phrasing an use of the taboo phrase. phantom wasn’t the only hero with a rule against wishing.
batman had made it perfectly clear that until they could control each others powers they were liabilities. a point that was emphasized when superman, in Danny's body, began to slip intangibly through the floor
which was how they got this point. training their deadly and highly destructive powers.
“look you just gotta feel solid. like continuously be aware that you can touch stuff.”
“that’s what i’m doing.”
“no, i mean you gotta keep that awareness. like...” phantom scrunched superman’s eyebrows together as searched for the right words. “it’s kinda like breathing, you know? most of the time you aren’t aware of your breathing you just let your lungs do their own thing. intangibility is a ghosts natural instinct/state, so to be solid you have to actively think about being solid, like when you’re suddenly aware of you own breathing and have to work to do it.”
“how can you cautiously be aware that you’re solid all the time,” the phantom double growled sounding frustrated. he was once again slipping through the floor and superman pulled him back up by the elbow.
“well, i’m not, exactly. eventually the solid-intangible switch just became a sort of muscle memory thing. most of the time awareness of my solidness is just floating somewhere in the back or my mind, just always running. letting go of the awareness to become intangible is actually weird because like you have to like let go of that awareness. it kinda sucks, because I've gotten so used to being tangible that i sometimes completely forget to turn intangible when i actually need to. it’s kind of confusing.”
“i agree.” superman glaring tiredly up at his own face. it was fascinating to watch the differences in expressions. watching superman’s body act like an earnest but typical teenager was rather cute. phantom sarcasm and sharp smirks looking out of place dangerous on the normally kind or brooding face of the alien but he brought an energy and expressiveness that superman often lacked. he talked with his hands and showed off his small ticks. seeing ‘superman’ nervously rub the back of his neck and tilt his head to the side with a shy smile, was a memory that batman would keep tucked away amidst his fondest memories.
meanwhile superman’s good posture and kind smile softened the ghosts image considerably. gone was the tricksters glint and in it’s place was a bright-eyed child. batman had never acknowledge how cynical phantom was in caparison to superman, but to see his face free of it was a startling revelation. phantom looked younger with superman controlling him. he moved with confidence and his neon green eyes sparkled with optimism. it was nice to see but carried with it slight disappointment that phantom himself couldn’t produce such a smile on his own.
“maybe it’s kind of like with your super strength?” phantom wondered. he was proving entirely more adaptive to superman's powers that superman was to his. he still proved to be clumsy when it came to the finer adjustments of strengths and applications, but he had mastered flying with the newly weighted body and powers like heat vision and psychokinesis were practically instinctive to him. the only real problem he had was focusing with superman’s enhanced hearing, providing a constant din and distraction. “like you have to be consciously aware of your movements and strength so you don’t accidentally destroy everything, right? well, treat it like that only instead of strength it’s how solid you are.”
“adjusting how lightly you touch something is completely different from being constantly aware of your own breathing.” superman griped irritably.
he was having a considerably harder time mastering phantom’s powers. they’d been working on tangibility on in off more the last couple hours because it was apparently the most important skill in terms of functioning normally. superman seemed to be slipping through the floor and dropping objects every other minute. and phantom almost seemed to be silently laughing even as he tried to help. it was quite clear that phantom had dealt with these problems in the past.
when they weren’t struggling with that, they were struggling with the other basic powers. like Danny, superman picked up flight rather easily. but manipulating ecto energy and all the powers that depended on drawing from his ghost core was escaping superman’s grasp. the way phantom described reaching for his core seemed rather meditative and simple to batman, but then again batman wasn’t the one with the powers so he wasn’t in the position to judge.
phantom refused to show superman his more powerful attacks, claiming, “if you can’t even make an ectoblast you wouldn’t be able to perform a ghostly wail. it’s not really something you can do accidentally. so as long as you don’t feel like your freezing to death you should be fine.”
it wasn’t the most comforting statement but batman preferred that they didn’t test those powers here anyway. there was no telling what a ghostly wail would do to the ship, especially because superman would have no control over it. they’d have to travel back to earth to do it and as late in the evening it was getting returning to earth that day for a non emergency seemed too exhausting.
speaking of which, “i think it’s about time for bed,” batman called to the heroes. phantom flinched and the sheepish look on ‘superman’s’ face, yet again, melted his cold black heart.
both were obviously exhausted so they didn’t argue about that, thou superman did mutter. “if i have to be thinking about solidness, what happens if i turn intangible in my sleep.”
“it’s easier not to go to bed tangible at all. just lie by the bed and float intangibly there. you’re less likely to move from there than if you turn intangible mid dream. if you do that i guarantee that you’ll fall through through the floor.”
“it was a rhetorical question.”
batman rubbed the bridge of his nose. this was going to be a long weekend
here’s hoping they’re back to normal tommorrow.

Prompt idea: Danny and Jazz are related to Barbara Gordon.
Maddie Fenton is Jim Gordon's wife's cousin, which makes her kids Barbara's second cousins. Jim doesn't want to alienate Babs from her maternal relatives so they paid a visit on Jim's day off... Or at least Jim wished it was a day off, Jim took one look at the safety hazard and child endangerment of a home and decided then and there his taking these kids home with him, batman be damned. (And he still hasn't heard about the holiday depression, hate crime and blantant war cry yet). There are day's where Jim wonder's if it was the right call to bring this kids to Gotham, the kids sure think it is!
hmm, so to start I'd say that similar with Vlad, Maddie and Jack kinda just ghosted their families. not intentionally but once they became a couple, brain cells kinda faded and they're either off inventing or being totally in love. you have to be the one to put an effort in to stay in their lives and not everyone has the time or energy for that. add that they're ghost obsessed and obnoxious, and were already skating the line of legal before they got together and the Fenton's aren't talked to much. actually that could explain why they so easily believed Dani was a cousin. they have extended family they just don't pay enough attention to it to know what going on in it. the only reason Aunt Alicia had Maddie present for her divorce was that Alicia called her. they tend to forget you exist until you remind them. likewise with Vlad contacting them. they probably just lost track of time until he reminded them ‘hey we used to be friends >:)’ and then it was like no time had passed to them even though it's literally been years.
Jim's wife didn't make an effort to stay in contact with the Fenton’s. that part of the family wasn't even aware that the Fenton had children. after Barbara Sr. walked out on them (on Christmas too) Jim made an effort to track her down and keep the family together. his effort lead to him contacting the Fenton's and eventually trying to have a relationship with Barbara Sr. extended family. the kids deserved to have a family after all and he didn't think he was being a sufficient enough father with how much he had to work. so he agrees to bring the kids and visit, and see the portal that Jack raved about for twenty minutes. note, at no point in this phone call did Jim learn that Maddie and Jack had kids. so the family arrives and that's a surprise. the first of many bad surprised. because, speaking as someone who's seen his fair share of them, the Fenton house is like a mad scientist's lair. the weapons, the glowing liquids, the invasion of Fenton tech in every room, the ops center, and worst of all the actual lab that has a whole as portal to another dimension in it. equally concerning is that when he offered cook he found almost no uncontaminated food in the cupboard and was attacked by possessed ham when he opened the fridge.
when he finally meets the kids, Jazz and Danny, he starts asking some definitely pointed 'is this child abuse' questions, ones he asks kids he meets at work. Danny isn't trusting enough to answer beyond what amounts to 'I love my parents, get out of my house'. but Jazz has 'a finally I've been validated' moment and brings out the psych file on all her parents bad behavior, somewhat naively not realizing this will effect her parents custody over them. she kinda thinks everything will be solved if her parents enter therapy and counselling and calm down on the ghost stuff. it didn't occur to her she was describing criminal behavior to a cop. yeah. Jim Gordan has encountered too many super villains to let these kids stay here.
and sadly for the kids the law is really on his side. it seems almost like the Amity Police were waiting for a charge to properly stick on the Fenton's and once they could throw the book at them, they throw it hard. it becomes a whole thing. Jazz is smacked with guilt and regret. Danny is pissed at everyone; Jazz, Gordan, his parents, the cops. Phantom might actually be spotted trying to destroy evidence and get the Fenton's off but there's too much evidence and too much bias, and the closest to freedom the Fenton parents are going to get is a trip to Arkham. especially because every attempt they make to prove their innocence reveals more illegal stuff they were obliviously doing. it's a losing battle and a mess for everyone involved.
eventually the portal is properly shut down, their research was seized by the government, and Vlad comes around to gloat like an asshole even as he doesn't successfully get custody of the kids. because if Danny's parents are going to jail danny's going to make damn sure Vlad goes with them. which you know further complications. Danny doesn't directly reveal Vlad's secret, he just reveals the crimes, with Tucker's tech help and leads them towards the fact that Vlad's a meta and has a lab and a whole other portal in his basement. getting charges to stick to Vlad is a whole lot harder, and this time Danny is just flying around in the background, helping the police and making sure Vlad can't superpower his way out of the situation. the police end up concluding Vlad's powers are from ecto-contamination so anti-ecto weapons and shields work on him and are used to keep him contained. they don't know he's a halfa at least and he's not interested in revealing himself or Danny because that reveal would take him out of prison and onto a lab table. right now it's important that the government believe. he ends up in Arkham with the Fenton's wearing one of those belts that shorts out his powers and usually in a cell with a ghost shield. the guards have anti ghost tech added to their uniform. Jack spends a lot of time annoying him while there.
i know you said the kids are happy but i don't think they are. Jazz is wracked with guilt because she helped get her parents arrested and broke up their already broken family. Danny, as mentioned, is literally pissed at everyone. he was taken from his home and his job, he just lost his parents, his best friends are now a city away, he doesn't even have ghost to take out his aggression on. the government having his parent research is also going to be a major issue later, especially now that they know ecto-contamination can give people ghost powers. a lot of that is going on out of sight rn though. will a portal eventually be opened in Gotham? probably. will it effect the lazarus pit? absolutely. is both of these things going to be a problem for everyone? haha, yeah.
meanwhile you have Barbara dealing with the abandonment of her mother, and her father's abrupt adoption of two more kids. like she gets why they couldn't stay with their parents, she also saw that house. but adding two traumatized children to the mix isn't going to help keep their family together. especially when Jim is still working long hours and they're all just left alone in the house together. and James Jr. has sociopathic tendencies and was low key the reason his mom walked out. i think it's entirely safe to say they he doesn't want these two strangers in his house. Jim is still grieving about his wife leaving too and he is not in a good place to be taking care of kids. he's trying but he's not around enough and basically throwing himself into his work hoping things will be better when he gets home. he's trying to do right by them but he's also now a single parent supporting four kids. Jazz and barb do what they can to help by getting part time jobs but both want to go to college and leaving Danny and James alone in a house together doesn't bode well.
i definitely see Danny and James fighting hard and a lot. James basically just on principle and because they’re ages are close enough that he can get away with messing with Danny. Danny because he clocked James as a fruitloop from the beginning and doesn’t like being harassed. unfortunately James is manipulative enough that Danny ends up taking the blame for their fights and broken things a lot of the time. Danny receives the label troubled kid and it’s a whole thing, especially with his history of Problematic Behaviour at Casper. Jim tries to get Danny into counseling but the psych programs in Gotham are... yeah. it’s not super helpful.
i’m having a bit of trouble with the timeline because i don’t know when Barbara’s mother left or how old barb was. but canonically at least in the new fifty-two which is the timeline we’re using, Barb is the same age as Bruce. i’m kinda clocking her at 17 or 18 at the time they adopt Danny and jazz, making her and Jazz around the same age. they’re also adopted when Danny is around 15-16. i’m going to say James is a few years younger than Danny. Bruce adopts a 10 year old Dick Grayson when he’s 25, meaning Danny would be around 22-23 when batman gets his first robin. the age that Bruce became batman is a mixed number, most saying he was 26 in the new 52 beaning Dick was adopted before Bruce became batman? but the impression i got from most of the comics was he adopted robin after... unsure about that. we’ll say it happened the same year. Bruce was barely a year into superhero when he finds and adopts a child.
my point is, all the Robins are baby children to Danny. they’re tiny. they shouldn’t be doing hero work. even Dani looks around twenty now. infants. is it hypocritical of him to be treating these heroes as children when he himself was a child when he started fighting? yes and no. he is being that bitch about how young they are, but he doesn’t want these kids to have the kind of childhood he had. he doesn’t know how he survived being a fourteen year old super hero. technically he didn’t.
anyway i’m going to say Danny gets one quiet year where he gets to settle in with the Gordan's, read; hate everything and fight with James. then the government open a portal under Gotham (it’s the nearest major city to Amity and also pretty fucking haunted). so boom Danny is back to the hero biz, slightly rusty and in a new town with new rules. sneaking should be harder in Gotham, but Jim isn’t home enough to notice. Jazz and Barb are doing their best at college and worrying about the boys. Jazz despite her Ivy League dreams ended up sticking closer to Gotham just to look after her brother and to not fuck their budget all to hell. she dreams of maybe going to Harvard as a graduate student but that feels a long way off. the problem with sneaking out successfully is that James is a snitch and Danny has to make a deal with the devil so stop James from selling him out. James doesn’t realize Danny is Phantom but has noticed Danny’s scary eyes and basically concluded he has similar ecto-contamination to Vlad. he also recons Danny doesn’t want that secret out to anyone. note. this is very much a relationship where if Danny wasn’t a hero he could absolutely wreck James. like the only reason James gets away with so much bs is that Danny doesn’t use his powers on humans.
it should also be noted that a 16/17 year old Danny fighting ghosts means that Danny took to heroing in Gotham long before Bruce is. meaning Bruce has another role model. Danny's 'don’t use his powers on humans' rule, means that Danny isn’t doing as much to stop crime as the city needs. he’ll sometimes pop in and scare villains away from doing crimes. show up and spook would be muggers or rapist out of allies. occasionally possess and turn over bank robbers to the police. he’d prevent murders if he sees them. but he’s not really in control of the root causes and he’s rarely in the right warehouses, at the right time to see what’s going down or solve any major mysteries. he leaves the real crime investigation to the unfortunately corrupt police. he’s kinda too wrapped up in his own life to be super aware of the injustice around him. if he sees the problem he interferes but mostly it’s ghost fighting and high school for him
and boy howdy is he wrapped up in ghost stuff. the government wouldn’t just have a ghost portal. they’d have ecto-contaminated people they’ve been experimenting on. some very sick, some developing ghostly powers, sorta like the spectra hospital episode. so Danny would have to deal with those types of characters. there’d be issues with the lazarus pit and league of assassins and he’d probably have to uncover a bunch of stuff about that and possibly get temporarily recruited. new portal probably means new part of the zone, so Danny would be getting new rouges on top of the old ones who swing by for old times sake. the Fenton’s and Vlad have been getting to know the people in Arkham and are probably going to break out at some point. the Fenton’s purely because they want to see their kids/ hear there’s ghosts in Gotham. Vlad to get revenge. also the Fenton’s are going to be fully labeled as villains at this point despite their relative naive innocence. they’re not actively trying to hurt anyone but if they supply Mr. Freeze with ectoplasm to help his wife and if they supply ghost weapons and some regular weapons to their other friends and end up doing wild research with the other scientist in Arkham well they’re just stacking charges. i do want a plot where Mr. Freeze’s wife successfully returns from the dead but as a mostly ghost and a lot of her personality has been lost to obsession. she’s his wife but not the woman he fell in love with. a whole oof situation that’s gonna fuck Mr. Freeze up and probably make him the Fenton parents enemy because they ruined her body. he can’t even have a second chance at this,.Danny’s down to help the new ice halfa (3 quarters? 75 cents? Danny would work on a quippy name later) and he’s sympathetic to mr. freeze and pretty much immune to the whole ice attack thing. so they kinda end up friends who fight when the Fenton’s are involved. Danny is trying to get Mr. Freeze to Jazz for therapy.
will this be a jazz is an Arkham therapist route? maybe? will this be an Arkham guard Danny route? sure if Jazz is there. he’d remain a full time ghost hero on top of that though. and when Bruce finally gets around to being batman and solving crimes, Danny’s would have been the established hero in Gotham for at least seven years. he’s far from a perfect hero by anyone’s definition. he fucks up a lot. but he’s the hero that’s there and enough people have stories of being saved by phantom that his reputation isn’t terrible.it’s not what i would call good, but it’s not terrible. Danny and Bruce are going to overlap a lot and i’m torn on Bruce’s stance on the hero because on the one hand, Danny is a hero. he’s doing more than pretty much anyone else is to save and protect the citizens of Gotham. but he’s not doing enough. he’s not attacking the problem or corruption. he’s not scaring villains straight. he’s too busy fighting ghosts. the ghosts definitely need to be fought, Bruce appreciates it, but sighting ghosts wouldn’t save his parents. you know what, Bruce likes him. he still became a hero because the ‘not enough’ stuff but he’s genuinely glad to have phantom protecting Gotham and he looks up to Danny despite Danny being younger than him. Danny is more tenured. this will definitely be a Danny’s in the justice league story, he gets to be a founding member. they end up working together a lot, two sides of the crime fighting coin.
it also doesn’t take terribly long for Bruce to figure out that phantom is Gordan’s troubled son. he ends up seeing a lot of himself in Danny the person and tries to adopt him despite Danny already legally being an adult and still considering the Fenton’s his parents. after that they just kinda end up as friends. adult friends who just happen to be superheroes on top of everything. now i’m imagining Danny running in the gala circles and it’s funny to me. you know Sam and tuckers careers are going to take off and they’re going to manage to join those circles, ironically only showing up to parties if Danny is there. people tend to sneer at Danny because he’s just the son of a cop, and has a record on top of that. but Danny, Bruce, Sam, and tucker are chaotic together.i also see Alfred as being so proud that Bruce made an honest to got friend that in his mind Danny can do no wrong. Alfred will spoil Danny whenever Danny comes over and Danny’s living standards were already so low that he’d be amazed at anything Alfred offered. Alfred becomes determined to fatten Danny up.not that Gordan doesn’t feed his kids. but single dad cop budget is very different from billionaire budget. i didn’t know i needed Bruce to have an adult friend/ sorta mentor until this. i mean he has the other supers, but this feels a little more equal because Danny is already established and vetted before Bruce becomes a hero. just the fact that they live near each other makes is easier for Bruce to have consistent friendship with Danny.
now lets add big sister barb, except she and Danny don’t know each others secret identities. she gets the impression that phantom is familiar but initially writes it off as her hearing about phantom from jazz and Danny because that’s where the ghost was originally from. note: people assumed phantom followed the portal to Gotham. no one connects it to Danny, especially because the first year Danny is in town he doesn’t really advertise his superhero persona as being around. he still goes on late night flies, but even if someone spotted him they’d write it off as imagining things. but so it takes time for them to find out that they know each other as civilians and it becomes a whole thing. i could imagine both of them going to jazz for help and jazz looking at them, knowing full well who they are, and not realizing that they don’t know who the other is. and it’s a whole comedy of errors. barbs thinks phantom knows jazz because they were from the same town, Danny thinks Batwoman knows jazz because they’re both collage age and jazz is a genius. somehow they come out of this interaction still not knowing each others identity. Bruce also becoming friends with Babs and inviting her to galas, and Babs and Danny attending together as siblings unaware that both their connections to Bruce came from being superheroes and not from the fact that they’re Jim Gordan’s kids. sibling teasing ensues alongside some healthy suspicion and “Danny, please don’t embarrass me” “i’m going to do nothing but embarrass you because you said that.” i’m here for the chaos. i’m here to put off their secret identities being revealed for as long as possible just so when the reveal happens it’s as dramatic as possible.
is it going to be when Babs gets paralyzed? i think it’s going to be when Babs gets paralyzed. Danny will also go feral on the joker for hurting his sister. and it’s a whole different ball game then the joker is used to because Danny has powers. everyone got to used to Danny holding back. the joker isn’t prepared. so jokers hatred of Danny is going to become a thing for a while. joker teaming up with the Fenton’s because they still hate phantom could also be a thing. oof. nothing is easy ever. at some point James is also going to return to the plot knowing more about Danny’s secret than he should, possibly accompanied by Vlad. just a lot of potential drama and chaos to be had.
uncle Danny, being a thing with the Robins would also be cute, since he’s significantly older than all of them. i can see him solemnly giving each kid the “don’t be a teenage superhero speech” and all of them ignoring it and becoming heroes anyway only to years later realize, yeah Danny was right we shouldn’t have been teenage superheroes. Jason ends up fully adopted by Danny after he returns from the dead. like similar powers and this guy had my best interest in mind back before i knew what my best interest were. Danny probably being able to help cure the pit rage either through ghost zone stuff or contacting his villain parents. sounds like a plan. Danny being very anti murder but totally down with Jason just leaving his family after everything? a mood. Danny being a go between Jason and Bruce but not selling Jason’s location out. there’s some drama there. Danny and Jason vibing over trying to murder the joker. hell yeah. Dick trying to be the oldest sibling and use older sibling rights but being over ruled by cool uncle Danny. Steph and Danny bonding over villain parents. Dani visiting and being a cool older sister. Jim unaware that most his family are superheroes. Damian meeting and falling in love with Cujo and tolerating Danny because of this. Tim having an alarmingly large stalker file on Danny and just being a Phantom fanboy in general. the puns.

The Top Man
Tim’s father had given him random pieces of advice through his childhood as well as a fairly strict expectation to follow said advice. Tim had never found it deeply helpful in his daily life but now, standing on the doorsteps of the Wayne’s, a file of evidence burning a hole in his backpack he thought of what his father had said.
the advice was this; “when you have a problem it helps to go straight to the top. don’t bother with all the little inconsequential people. go to the boss to get things done”
Tim thought this as the door opened and revealed the butler Alfred Pennyworth. he opened his mouth to speak and was struck by the thought that Batman, that Bruce Wayne, wasn’t really the top man. that there had always been someone in charge of Bruce Wayne even before he became batman. so instead of a demand to see Bruce Wayne and become Robin, which was what Tim thought he’d be saying when he came to the Wayne’a doorstep he said. “i want to help Bruce,” to a man who also wanted to help Bruce. a man who was also feeling the grief of Jason's loss. “make me your apprentice.”
Alfred Pennyworth for his part saw a five foot nothing twelve year old, looking at him with earnest eyes and too much determination. he had felt both a pang of deep grief and a surprisingly intense wave of nostalgia and deja vu. the boy looked remarkably like Bruce has, fresh from losing his parents and full of anger and grief and determination. the man had declared than that he would help people. what he hadn’t said was what price he was willing to pay to save those lives. heroics had always had a heavy cost, Alfred knew that from his time in the war and continued to witness it now, as Bruce gave and gave of himself, only to now be losing himself now that the cost was someone he cared about.
Alfred had been preparing to leave, to take a step back and selfishly leave Bruce to either self destruct or regain himself. Alfred wasn’t strong enough to watch his own son kill himself. and he wasn’t strong enough to pull Bruce out of his grief himself, not when he too was lost in the bitterness and anger of Jason dying.
he could not in good conscious ask another child to enter their lives. he could not ask this child, whom he vaguely recognized as time drake, to take on the burden of their graving family. he could not ask this child to make sacrifices for them.
but he also saw the determination and raw stubbornness in the child eye and... Alfred also knew it wasn’t an argument he’d win.
“what you’re asking for,” Alfred frowned, trying anyway. “is no easy task.”
Tim stuck his chin out and his smile turned confident and mischievous. “if this about what you guys have in your basement, i already know.”
Alfred found himself arching an eyebrow while inwardly he was quite alarmed. “then perhaps you should come inside.”
he stepped out of the way of the door and tim drake walked through at a polite pace and pretended not to be drinking in everything around him. when the door gently closed and Alfred quietly started leading the boy towards the lounge, Tim spoke again, quietly.
“Batman, Bruce, they need someone to keep their heads on straight. to make sure he doesn’t lose himself to the mask and darkness. robin... that was robins job. but i can’t replace him. not now. but batman still needs him or someone like him. dick said no, and you’re the only other person, who’s been able to help batman fight his own darkness.”
Alfred felt rather small at the statement; the reminder of Jason, the truth that he couldn’t be replaced. the fact that the boy had already spoken to dick, and the fact that the boy could still admire him, could still see alfred as anything but a failure....
“i have not been able to save Bruce from himself in a very long time. i doubt you will learn much from me.” Alfred felt older having said the words.
but Tim shook his head. “it’s not your fault that Bruce stopped listening to you. and you’re grieving too. i think that’s one of the reasons asking Dick didn’t work. you have enough on your plate handling your own emotions. but i’m not a Wayne. i’m just a regular civilian so i can offer a fresh set of eyes and hands. a fresh voice. and since i work for you, Bruce won’t be able to fire me or kick me out. i can help.” he said the words with such raw belief that Alfred felt the stirrings of home rise in his chest like the whisper of a ghost.
again Alfred thought that he was not going to win this argument.
“he won’t go easy on you. nor will i. you would do well to remember who the master of this house is.” he said primly. “becoming my apprentice means doing a number of daily chores to keep everything running. i will expect you to work hard, dress sharply, and always be available to provide whatever master Wayne may need. on top of that,” Alfred peered down his nose at Tim. “you will need your parents permission and i expect you to maintain your grades and health on top of the work you will do for me.”
Tim gave a small, concerning flinch at the mention of his parents. Alfred highly doubted that Mr. and Mrs. Drake would be enthused about their heir becoming a manservant to the Wayne's. but Tim seemed to rally and double down. “i’ll do what needs to be done.”
Alfred tried not to sigh and rub his forehead at the show of stubborn enthusiasm. he could tell this was going to be a lot of work. that this boy might be more trouble than he was worth. but thinking of Bruce, who hadn’t given him a nod of acknowledgement at this mornings breakfast, who had deep shadows under his eyes and who hadn’t laughed or smiled since his sons death...
Perhaps they needed a spot of trouble.
“then welcome aboard Manservant Drake.”

Teen Wolf Tucker
okay, i’m ready to write this even though i know nothing about teen wolf.
it’s starts when tucker turns sixteen and ends up going through essentially werewolf puberty. there are probably going to be a lot of signs before his actual transformation that he just writes off. like growing hair on his chest and being sweaty. massive growth spurts. normal puberty. gaining muscles? a result from all the exercise involved in ghost hunting. danny and same a strong too. teeth and nails getting sharper, better sense of smell? eh probably a ghost thing. might need to be checked for ecto-contamination. werewolf never even crossed his mind as an option
it’s a genetic thing. from his moms side. part of her love language is feeding her family meat. tucker also has always had a sensitive nose for meat so it tracks as a wolf thing. his clumsiness could be explained as his dumb puppy stage. still the day he has his first transformation is wild. in part because he was not in his room like he was supposed to be. he’d been out ghost hunting with his friends and therefore abruptly turned into a wolf for no reason right in front of them. he woke up in the opts tower and sam and danny were fine, not a scratch on them. apparently he wasn’t a very aggressive wolf, at least not towards them. course he tries to hide it from his parents but his mom brings it up on her own and tucker is like O.O this is going to happen again? i am a spook? tucker’s parents emphasize that this is something he needs to keep a secret, even from his friends. and off course next scene tucker is kicking danny’s door open and crying “GUYS HOLY FUCK!!”
from there naturally shenanigans occur. they’re trying to figure out how to turn sam into a spook because she refuses to be the teams normy. she’s gonna have to get bitten by a vampire or learn how to be a witch. they just found out other monsters exist, they have to run with this. is tucker going to me more useful in ghost fights? not really. are they going to have monster fights added to their pile of ghost fights. absolutely. their luck is bad. i can also see danny fully delegating monster stuff to tucker because he has his hands full with ghosts. it’s literally true, he really doesn’t have the time, but also rude. tucker helped danny with his ghost problems for two years and this is the thanks he gets? to be fair danny also helps but he doesn’t actively fight the monsters he just kinda stands back and lets tucker do the work unless theirs some kinda monster and ghost team up. much sass is had about this regardless. i also think a side effect of sam desperately wanting to be a monster is that she’s off-putting to the monsters. girl wants it too bad. she’s freaking them out.
tucker being the butt of furry jokes but faster. tucker and wulf hanging out a lot more and just being some dogs in sunglasses. tucker and danny having power centric contests. the trio being considered even weirder than before despite puberty treating all of them well. i see danny as taking on a more dan physique. tucker grows tall and lean, probably more of a runners build, he’s actually considered small by wolf standards but to humans his size is nothing to cough at. sam is a muscle girl, still goth but leaning into more masc fashion.
in wolf form tuckers basically just a goofy dog. sam and danny have probably passed him as that to get out of situations. he can transform anytime, now that he’s has his first turn. but he has to do it on the full moon and he doesn’t remember those nights. like he keeps his human mine the rest of the month but not on the full moon. he has a full wolf form and a half wolf form, the bipedal type of form, similar to wulf. also should be noted wulf was really excited when tucker had his first transformation. like wanted to have a little party excited. they’ve bonded. it’s cute. tucker has super strength in general. most of the typical powers of wolves. better sense of smell and hearing. night vision, claws and fangs. hunting instinct. tucker is more aggressive to his bullies than before and has to an extent chased them off. now that he can mach them in size and strength bullying him isn’t as fun.tucker trying to gain popularity through his wolf powers and succeeding for a bit but finding the experience shallow and empty. he cant talk to the a-listers about his the latest tech, what’s the point.
tuck developing dog habits and just generally being cute in that way. tucker dealing with the changes/paranormal puberty and having danny to help him through it despite being different creatures. sam laying off on tucker being a vegan because technically he’s a carnivores, but being very grudging about it. tuck getting closer to his parents. just the sheer coincidence that tucker happened to be a werewolf this whole time and also happened to be friends with a future ghost boy. their paranormal is completely independent of each other. sam is digging into her family history. it’s like everyone in the friend grop being lgbtq but not realizing until after they graduate and then looking back in hindsight like “damn our friend group was all queer.” only with being spooks. the queer parallels were already there, lets be real. i suggest leaning into it this au. is being a ghost and werewolf metaphors for being lgbtq? yes. are they also lgbtq as a separate thing from being paranormal? also yes
i just see them all having a lot of fun with tucker being a wolf. something needs to be done for sam so she isn’t left out. the jealousy is only funny in the beginning. but has angst potential and i don’t want that for her. she should be able to stick with her friends.but just in general they’re vibing.- Hestia

Into The Halfaverse: part 1
summery: half inspired by my guardian/ancient danny au, partially inspired by  @nastyburger into the spiderverse au. has somehow become it’s own thing.
[Exposition]
so to start, it’s established in canon that infinite timelines exist all at once and for Clockwork at least are all moving simultaneously. he has access to all of them and in his position in the Ghost Zone, stands as an outside observer. drawing from that, I’m going to say that the Ghost Zone technically exists as it’s own space outside of the multiverse. the Ghost Zone is called the Infinite Realms because the infinite universes and timelines all bleed into the one space, the singular Ghost Zone. likewise there may be infinite versions of Danny but there is only one Clockwork. the other ghosts may have multiple versions of themselves, but they’re distinctive depending on the time and space they came from. the Infinite Realms are so big that there is almost no crossover between them different timelines. you could fly forever and never reach a different timelines section of the Ghost Zone. there are artifacts that are exceptions to these rules, including the Infinity Map and Clockwork's staff and tower. but it is rare. you could probably call Clockwork one of the nucleus's of the zone.
the Ancients would be the other nucleus's. there’s no absolute center of the zone, it is far too big and far too fluid for that. but I'm going to say that the Ancients form by the merging of different versions of themselves, from the infinite timelines, and gradually growing more powerful and dense. they have to consolidate their various sides. but as a rule they become nucleus’s, cores of the Ghost Zone, because they’re so infinitely powerful and dense that the zone itself bends towards them. the reason they’re called Ancients is that it takes an inconceivable amount of time to do this process. even while using artifacts. they’re Olde. it’s hard to say if any of these beings are ever really complete, because again, infinity in all directions. let’s just say there’s a point where you start bending the zone and leave it at that (please don’t make me explain the physics I'm making it up as I go)
it should also be noted that Pariah Dark was not an Ancient. he gathered power and controlled his own little part of the zone/timeline. in Danny’s main timeline he was a big deal. there are probably versions of him out there in the infinite that are equally powerful and important. but he never managed to start fusing with his infinite selves. I don’t think danny could conceivably have defeated Pariah Dark otherwise. like he could not lay a scratch on Clockwork. Clockwork and Pariah are definitely in different ballparks of power, even if they’re both op as heck. the Pariah Dark conflict(s) are purely local affairs.
the Dan event however wasn’t. it was an off shoot timeline. that Clockwork directly interfered with specifically for cannon’s version of Danny. and when Dan was defeated, he wasn’t destroyed. he didn’t disappear from existence. his timeline happened and created him. the interference effected cannon Danny’s timeline, not Dan’s. and when Dan was defeated, he wasn’t destroyed completely, he was taken by Clockwork and kept.
more than that, a literal Ancient in the Infinite Realms directly interfered with Danny and teaches him lessons. like there is personal interference from this impossibly powerful being. and Danny has direct access to the a tool that can take him anywhere in infinity. cannon Danny has the potential to become a new Ancient in the zone, and Clockwork is helping guide him to the best version of himself. when the time comes Clockwork is probably going to return Dan’s thermos so that Danny can absorb him without being destroyed or overpowered by that version of him. our danny is going to become a god of the infinite realms and multiverse.
however, who’s to say that our Danny is the only one Clockwork is helping along, or that our Danny is the only one that can become Ancient. the Realms are Infinite and exist outside of the time of the multiverse. everything is happening all at once and endlessly. and in all the timelines, Danny is hardly the only halfa. he’s not even the only halfa in his own timeline. let alone others. and it might just so happen that halfa’s are more stable than regular ghost, and also more powerful and adaptable. so lets say every person that’s a halfa in the multiverse has the potential to become an Ancient.
Clockwork in all his infinity is helping cultivate these halfa’s to be the best and wisest version of themselves. ironically before the Fenton Portal existed, it was extremely rare for halfa’s and therefore Ancients to form in the Infinite Realms. Clockwork himself was created by random chance, a one in the million moment where a natural portal opened on his living body and he was transformed, moments before the portal closed again. his journey to become an Ancient, specifically for the element of time was long and terrible. and lonely. he desired to cultivate others like him so he’d never be alone again. and he never will have to be, for him, it’s only a matter of time.
so in a large room in his tower, that stretches out for infinity in all directions.... Dan’s thermos is stored. on a wall. next to infinite others. for all eternity, until the time is right...
or at least, until the faulty wiring in one of those infinite thermos’s fails, and one of those infinite evil halfa’s escapes, into a room of infinite evil versions of themselves and their friends...
this is the story of how Danny and his friends become Ancients. speed run version. - Hestia

Transformation AU anon:
The picture also includes a werewolf tucker :3 (because that really does seem like something he'd do). maybe not Sam because I HC she didn't become friends with them til later, but also a mermaid halloween costume doesn't seem like something lil' Sam would do.
Loving the idea of other creatures not believing Danny exists, meanwhile all the ghosts are like "oh yeah, we all know his secret ID". upping his cryptid status even among other cryptids lol (speaking of: that's totally also Dani/Ellie's Thing). But yeah given how Amity Park seems to be ghost central but doesn't say much else about, say, yetis, I'd absolutely believe all these different supernatural factions are pretty isolated and don't believe the others exist. Like, I think I read a fanfic once where Danny was like "wait, the Jersey Devil/Mothman/etc. exist???" so that seems to be the general vibe. (Again, totally should be Ellie's thing given how much she travels. :D let's have her be the liaison to the Jersey Devil/Mothman/etc when Danny and co need something from them rather than ghosts/mermaids/werewolves/fae!)
Except that ghosts of, again, YETIS exist, so I imagine ghosts are the only ones who do know all the factions exist but it's so normal to them it's often glossed over (also, whoever discovers ghosts exists are probably already dealing with THAT crisis, figuring out others exist probably isn't really the first thing on their mind atm). Like... Wulf is totally a werewolf right? Probably died in his wolf form and got stuck in it. But people are stuck on the fact that he's a ghost to really examine the fact that he's a werewolf. It just kinda gets passed over for the idea that the afterlife exists lol.
But yeah the whole... fighting other supernatural creatures thing probably isn't... normal in their own communities. Like, humans don't really go around vigilante-ing criminals in a non-superhero-comic world, there's usually already a precedent for how those things are dealt with (ie. Walker and Pariah Dark and the Observants existing means there's SOME kinda law in the GZ). So like, werewolf packs having beefs with each other or vampires or whatever is probably normal to them and they're grumpy about it but they don't really change what they're doing, and then in comes Tucker shooting an ecto-gun at the antagonist pulling all the strings between the packs with printed proof of their crimes he hacked from their computer and resolving the issue that they were having because it wasn't really an issue it was just a guy manipulating them? Not Normal, for sure. Even Danny is probably seen as a little weird for defending the humans so much, I bet. They're all just a little Off to their respective communities and it's sometimes very little to do with the fact that they're formerly human. They just don't fit, don't act right, even if (for instance) Sam is trying to learn their ways because she's very conscious of cultural appropriation, or Jazz is learning their rules because she gotta act like them to survive. And then there's the intermingling as you mentioned--like, "a werewolf?? hanging with a FAE??" and "the new ghost king is maybe courting the potential new mermaid royalty??? wait, ghosts EXIST?" and "did you see that weird fae girl hanging with that cryptid?" the gossip must be WILD among the supernaturals.
But anyway moving on, Doyle going from a reluctant sidekick to #1 cheerleader is absolutely a perfect dynamic (I LOVE that image you described of Doyle hanging over her shoulder insulting her enemies) because y'know what Jazz needs more friends. Let Doyle be a real friend. Heck let Doyle get mad about the fact that aside from the Transformation Trio group, she doesn't really have other friends? Also Doyle being the one to teach her more about music and dancing and other fae culture stuff (I do agree she'd be able to pick up dancing pretty well! she's fairly coordinated with the Jack-o-Nine-Tails and also she does cardio and stuff!) but I love the idea that singing is something Jazz will continually struggle with. Gotta have SOME downsides and all.
And I kinda like Sam getting hit with all kinds of irony so I'm a little fond of her not really having sharp teeth... or visible fangs anyway. And I JUST had the thought that instead of the FANGS, she gets like, those serrated shark-like teeth? Like Kirishima from MHA! Since Sam is a mermaid, she doesn't really need fangs, but the other type of teeth would be far more useful! (Also looks hecka cool actually. Besides, Sam did always like being unique and individual!)
But yeah Val can be the odd-one-out, it's fine. I mean theoretically she can probably manifest her own fangs or whatever (I'm imagining black nano-bot made fangs with red techy designs!) though having the one person not smiling at all can also be hilariously scary to whoever they're threatening. On the subject of Valerie though, I was trying to figure out how she really fit into the transformation trio AU because all the others are gaining responsibilities and stuff, and she's just kinda the secondary ghost hunter next to Danny. And after Danny becomes king it's probably less necessary for her to do much of it. But then like... she's really strong, and after the need for vengeance passes she still ghost hunts anyway and proves to be wanting to do this for more noble reasons like legitimately protecting people, and she has that whole secret identity to the public thing (where as Tucker, Sam, and Jazz are all secret identities in private--yeah they don't want anyone to know, but also no one SEES them going around in public doing heroic things because of the nature of the hidden supernatural world requiring a little more stealth than Danny going out in public and having grand fights with ghosts). Valerie has all the makings of a comic book superhero. So what if she gets the DC/MCU crossover in this AU? (like, Tucker got Teen Wolf and Sam got H2O) Like, her responsibilities will lean more toward keeping people safe from HUMAN crimes rather than supernatural ones?
(It starts with a ghost hunting patrol, where it's quiet that night, and she hears a mugging going on--of course she goes to help. And it happens more and more, until she finds herself stopping robberies and murderers more than ghosts and supervillains. And it just kinda naturally becomes her Thing, and no one really notices because she does still do the ghost hunting thing too. Except Danny's got that covered, so... idk she just kinda grows into it.)
But yeah this sounds like a massive undertaking and amazing crossovers. I wish I had the skill and dedication to write it all but ;;;;; ahh I can only wish. I'm more of an ideas person haha. It sounds like it could be a cool collaboration though, like each character/perspective is written by different authors, which only authenticates the differences in narration/storytelling when crossovers between the supernatural communities do happen. That sounds like it'd be real fun. Here's to hoping someone gets inspired anyway~
lol these are just gonna keep getting longer and longer, aye? that is not a bad thing as far as i'm concerned
yes to tucker being included. i'm okay with sam not becoming friends with them until middle school. but while mermaid isn't a costume she'd choose for herself, it is something her mom would choose for her. so i could see her wearing a mermaid costume at a time before she was allowed to choose her own clothes and making a face the entire time.
dani definitely encounters weird thing and develops her cryptid person more than danny does just because she's traveling. i'd argue danny has the advantage of time just because he tends to time travel and has probably been recorded while out on missions for clockwork. but dani at very least has urban legend status and is far more likely to meet spooks that way. that could probably be her thing, knowing and interacting with urban legends. that could be a lot of fun. i'm just imagining her becoming best friends with the slit mouth woman and bloody marry. there's a lot of adventures to be had with that. especially because she's scary in her own way.
there is a certain irony once again that danny's secret identity effects mainly his human side and that the ghosts know who he is but just don't care. other creatures being rather secular and probably keeping out of amity if they can help it has vibes. i do genuinely beleive all my kids deserve to be legends onto themselves. i just can't help seeing danny as that little bit extra because how he was created was so odd. dani shares that. and jazz would be rare but not unheard of. sam is also fairly rare but not as rare as jazz. and then tucker is fairly normal among werewolves if not for the company he keeps. val is also probably the first of her kind, but not many know about her yet and i don't see her having a community the way the others do. that's a bit sad, but her friends can be her community for now. i suppose despite the bonding with the suit part she does technically count as a halfa so she can be a member of that growing circle. in a way all the halfas are unique in how they were made, and technically danny is probably the only one you could call a true halfa. dani is unique as a clone. vlad is unique in his ecto-contamination making the transformation gradual. so val letting the ghost nanites/armor become part of her can be it's own thing.
i also like the implied chillness in the ghost community about different species. there is a psychological element in the formation of ghosts so a lot of them probably just assume that different ghosts just look like that rather than make the connection that oh, no this is the ghost of a werewolf. this is a ghost of a yeti. those are real. ghosts also tend to be wrapped up in their own personal thing, so somehow racism isn't really that much of a thing in the zone, unless it's something they're bringing from when they were alive. so for instance prince aragorn brought his sexism with him from when he was alive but he probably doesn't have a problem with the various forms ghosts take. meanwhile i suspect that with how secular the various other communities seem to be, racism will probably be a thing for them in different degrees.
we talked about how sam kinda needs to earn her place among the mermaids, but since they're somewhat endangered they're more likely to welcome her into their community. they just don't respect her until she starts fighting for them. jazz is feared and disliked in equal measure as a name stealing human. tuckers community is probably to most relaxed after danny's. there's more awareness of the other communities existence, and the idea that monsters have to work together against the greater human threat. tucker is also a born werewolf so theirs less to hold against him. but i imagine there are definitely harmful stereotypes about the various different monsters and that'll come up sometimes.
you're right that they probably self police and cover their own asses when it comes to various disputes and such. and you're right that the spooks (i'm shifting towards calling this the 'spook au' instead of transformation trio because there's more in the group than the trio. and spooks cover what they are.) are weird for their respective communities. i think one of the biggest things about them is that they're loud. they are not subtle when entering situations and fighting. they are basically clumsily stumbling into what ever situation they enter and trampling over traditions and any attempts of subtlety by just being themselves. they were all brought into the paranormal first by fighting ghosts. that was never subtle. they're undeniably powerful warriors. when they fight, they win. especially when they call on their friends for help. but as far as the various communities are concerned, non have heard of subtlety in their live. ironically except when they're pulling on over on the community leaders.
their group just in general is regarded as a THREAT. they're too powerful. they're too reckless. they're weird. they seem to handle anything thrown at them. and they're friends with each other. they're legends. they probably have a whole mystique around them when it comes to the stories told about them. the whispers even in the ghost zone about the halfa have the tone of 'watch out, they'll steal your children in the night. legend says they're undefeatable and the only thing you can do when you see them is run and pray they don't catch you'. meanwhile the group are getting up to the stupidest shenanigans together at home. doing dumb little contests of powers getting stuck to things. making mistakes. and lying their ass off to explain why theirs a big dog driving their car. they're just clumsy disasters doing their best.
doyle is great. it makes me think we need more friends and characters from each world. but yes jazz deserves all the friends. she's so good. i will say spike from episode 1 can be her friend. no one expects it but them actually being quite close is cute. also has a sort of dramatic irony because she's such a prep but narratively loves rock music, and befriends people like spike and and johnny and kitty. is she secretly edgy? eh, not really, but she's hard to turn away and she's so freaking earnest. she just deserves good things.
for the other groups friend. well tucker at least can have some cousins or extended family that he gets to know and who introduce him to the monster world. i'm highly inclined to give sam and animal companion, flounder style. she could also accidentally befriend someone with an opposite personality/style to her among the mermaid. like a typical in every way mermaid princess but who's secretly a badass. similar to dora, i suppose but not naive about it. more i have a duty and can't show who i am without social consequences. danny has already been gradually making friends with the ghosts. as the story goes on they can all probably make more and more friends. it's just fun to have specific buddies.
i'm still leaning towards sam having teeth more suited towards eating vegetation. but have more teeth in her mouth than normal for a human.
superhero val, aye? i am absolutely down with that. she is motivated by justice and protecting people at this point. danny also is but as king he's kinda busy. so val taking on a role as a superhero to humans is fun and cool. i'm actually inclined to say this would happen before super heroes are considered a thing. like she would be one of the forerunners of it. contemporary with batman and superman. some of the other dc characters have been around for ages. and likewise have their own societies before becoming official superheroes, but heroes in their own right. i'm now 100% on board for sam meeting and sassing aquaman. aquaman who is the kind of Atlantis and definitely outranks her. maybe theirs some rivalry between saltwater and freshwater mers. she's definitely smaller than him just in general. i would definitely say she's scarier than him though.
now i'm imagining batman coming to recruit val to his superhero team and just everyone else coming with her. he probably only knew about danny but didn't want to recruit him because of the bad press associated with him. everyone else was probably news to him. i could see the other heroes having limited knowledge of the various societies. so aquaman knows about the mermaids. wonder woman is aware of the monsters and to a lesser extent the fairies. and so on. but yeah finding this whole group as a package deal. also their various powers being written off as being a super hero thing is always grand. so joining the hero doesn't even technically out them. they're just considered metas. the whole team would be good superheroes and strictly speaking that's what they are for their various worlds. val would be considered their leader and be the main known entity among the humans though. she ends up the face of their group to the supers because she's the one who spends the most time saving humans. well dani too, but she's a cryptid so no one's sure she exists. also val joining the science gone wrong crew. her, danny, flash, and cyborg all being the result of science is fun to me. they're vibing. now i'm also thinking about how to get an alien into their group...
it's wes, isn't it? alien wes would be hilarious. he wouldn't even be part of their group because they don't like him but as the story progresses having him reluctantly work with them because of his own shenanigans. powerful. he will receive no end of shit for it though. he was such a nuisance before that it's what he deserves. i'm also imagining a scenario where one of the crew accuse him of being an alien and just... the populars and entire school believing it without question. after years of doubting every accusation he'd ever mad, the moment a rumor is started about him it's believed fully. he hates it. thankfully no one in casper high particularly cares or is freaked out that he's an alien. they aren't going to turn him over to authorities. they deal with ghosts, an aliens not that weird. it's just so frustrating for him. especially because they still don't believe his accusations about the other spooks.
oh man a collaboration would be nice. and easier on me. because i'm not going to write the fic for this. i do enjoy bouncing ideas though. there's no shame in presenting the sketches and never making the full art piece you know. we're still putting the ideas out there. and i'm definately having fun talk about this - Hestia

H2O AU Sam anon: love everything you came up with~ but may I raise you, instead of lake Michigan, the canon Lake Eerie in Amity Park? With a name like that I would ABSOLUTELY believe a mermaid transformation on a full moon can happen. There's even a secret cavern behind a waterfall where a weird magical pool could possibly be hidden. Also I love the idea of her being a different TYPE of mermaid than saltwater mermaids. Like H2O mermaids all have orange tails (and like, that one dude who has a green tail for some reason?), if you really wanted to you could decide freshwater mermaids all have, like, black or purple or blue tails or something to soften the aesthetic for Sam to be slightly more tolerable lol (she would HATE an orange tail haha).
The hair growing thing is probably canon actually, I think in H2O:MA no matter what hairdo they have, when they turn into a mermaid their hair becomes all long and pretty? but it goes back to normal when they turn back to human so like... Sam might be mad about it if it were permanent, maybe let her have a bit of reprieve and not make it permanent lol (I mean, Danny's and Tucker's changes aren't permanent y'know?). Tucker growing big in his other form as a parallel to Sam growing small is great, and the "purify water" power makes her unique from the canon H2O mermaids :D Also the mermaid ghost zone bit, that sounds fun, as well as fishing out shenanigans. I'm just imagining she's mad about having to use straws to drink anything for fear of getting wet, because using straws is bad for the environment (she quickly gets a reusable metal one she can use anywhere she needs it. it's a Fenton Straw and it doubles as a hair stick and a weapon I guess because that's just how stuff goes in DP when they need something normal and the Fentons get inspired and make it a weapon instead XD).
I don't think she necessarily needs to be a princess (also I'm not understanding how exactly other than "you're the chosen one"?) since by virtue of her already activist personality she'd probably take on all those responsibilities anyway, just because it's the right thing to do. I can see her BECOMING a princess by doing all this though (along with unlocking more powers along the way and becoming OP in her own right), not really doing that from the start tho (could be a plotline to take for sure! similar to how Danny doesn't start out as king!).
Anyway loving the Valerie and Jazz bits too!! Full set go :D though they also need a transformy aspect to really complete the set lol. Jazz transforming into something with wings and pointy ears sounds cool tho! So now we've got dimension/space, land, sea, sky, and manmade creatures (Danny, Tucker, Sam, Jazz, Val respectively). There's a lot of faerie stuff out there if you wanna continue the route of basing this stuff on existing media (like Teen Wolf and H2O)... the only fae things that come to mind right now are Winx and W.I.T.C.H? Though I don't know much about them.
yooooo. erie works so much better and it would move what stat they're in but i don't care. it fits. i'd also like to note that all the lakes have different mer cultures and vibes. for instance lake superior is the biggest and deepest and has a lot of ship wrecks. erie on the other hand is the smallest and shallowest and has the greatest water flow. it also has issues with pollution and over fishing so it likely has the smallest population of mers and the smallest sized mers in general. they have a hard time with hiding and maintaining a population so they stake a lot of hope on sam and her abilities. there's also a lake monster named bessie in erie that's going to be a friend. the lakes are all attached to each other and have access to a lot of rivers so there's room for travel.
i'm tempted to make sam's tail pink just because she would hate it, but morphology wise it would make more sense if it was a brownish-green, similar to the fish in the area/ the mud on the lake floor. true greens are also an option. my main thing is that these mermaids would be concerned with blending in so they'd want to have camouflage. i'm also now tempted so say all mermaids have a full fish form for camouflage. tucker is going to mock her for this like being a glorified pooch is so much better
i'm down with it being a mer form only thing. she'd still be annoyed because she finds the length inconvenient but at least she can control how she looks on land. it also just occured to me that she needs to invest in water proof make up and the first few times she transformed without it were messy. she played the dripping off as an intentional look. but that 'intentional look' stopped happening within a couple of days.
she'd immediately switch to a reusable metal straw though i'm hesitant to have it double as a hair chop stick purely because that's gross to me and would lead to getting your hair and it's oils in your drink. she could probably have it as a different accessory though.
my mind also made a jump to paulina trying to be mean and 'accidentally' dump her drink on sam and danny and tucker having to step in and take the splash to protect her secret. i think it's safe to say that they'll all end up doing embarrassing things to protect each other secrets. they're loyal like that.
that's fair and the nature of plot development. sam accidentally earning the princess title is better than her just randomly getting handed it by pure chance. it would be nice to see her earn the eerie mer's loyalty and admiration. though she'd still be considered weird as hell due to her company.
and finally i don't know much about winx or w.i.t.c.h. either. it kinda missed me. i'm more inclined to lean into the existing lore for fairies. though it is extensive and often contradictory. how jazz will look depends on what kind of fairy she is. i saw a comment talk about how she might accidentally trick a fairy into giving her their name, when they were trying to steal hers. i wouldn't mind there being an ongoing plot where because she stole that fairy's name and therefore their power, the former fairy is following her around trying to get their name back and cause mischeif for her. only to find they've bitten of more than they can chew because jazz's life is chaos and the fairy isn't the weirdest thing to happen in her day. she probably ends up quite affectionate towards the fairy as she goes about learning how to use their powers. the pranks can become pretty mean spirited. but danny is a lot less nice and willing to threaten them to protect his sister. it's a whole thing. the fairy is very tsundere next to jazz's happy optimism. it should be noted that jazz did try to give the name back, but gifting names is different the stealing names. if anything she just ended up having more power over the fairy. which they aren't happy about. it's a mess. but eventually they reluctantly come to love jazz and her weirdo family. - Hestia

Into the Halfaverse: part 2
[The Alpha Timelines]
our main halfa’s are going to be Danny, Sam, Tucker, Jazz, Val, Dani, and Vlad. are there other halfa’s in the multiverse with the potential to become ancients? yes. some that spring to mind, dash, Paulina, Jack, Maddie, Paulina, Wes, Flynn, Easton. all have halfa versions of themselves out in the multiverse. but none of them in all their infinities, are ready yet to face the challenge breaking out of the clockworks tower, nor are they ready to become ancients. even the ones who are being chosen believe they’re ready for this enormous responsibility. but still as the danger begins to emerge, clockwork looks carefully out over his many timelines and portals and chooses seven to come to the infinite realms aid.
in the distance he can hear the army of evil doppelgangers rising. there isn’t a lot of time but there’s enough.
he chooses
[Danny Phantom]
a mostly cannon timeline of Danny. everything but the meteorite episode happened the same as cannon. danny at the point he’s taken from the timeline is 24 and in his prime. he’s been fighting for 10 years now, he has been revealed to his parents and amity. being out publicly means that he receives a lot of breaks and more opportunities. essentially he’s gotten his act together. team phantom are a well oiled machine and able to cover each others backs and shifts. the observant of his section of the zone have approached him and there are talks of him becoming king of the zone (only his timelines zone but it’s a lot. he’s hesitating. he wants to live his human life first, he’s been attending collage, study astronomy and physics. he’s been holding down a flexible just for him construction job. he and sam have been dating for years at this point. he literally has a ring in his pocket with an amethyst stone and little bats carve into it as he prepares to propose.
she’s been working further into environmental science and has a lobby going to make amity a protected area. ecto contamination and mutations have essentially made the area a completely unique bio-dome and she’s using activism to protect it and the ghosts within it. she’s also made several successful runs at getting ghosts human rights. it’s still a process and obviously not recognized by the world or even country at large. at this point she’s more or less lobbying at a state level. and arguing with anyone who matters about ecto science protecting her town and it’s ecosystem. she’s studying law to be even more effective at this and is generally considered something of an upstart in the political world. her activism and lobbying extends past ghost affairs and those have taken her further. she is a force to be reckoned with and danny couldn’t be prouder of her. she has tattoos hidden under her all black pantsuit. she’s still goth but more refined and capable of putting on a professional appearance when it gets her what she wants. she also has a ring prepared to propose to danny. it has little stars around the band.
tucker has established his tech empire and his career has taken off. he does sell and fund the fentons on the side. he may or may not have drained vlad’s accounts when the opportunity presented itself. so he’s rolling in cash and making more. he’s almost on his phone, and had a bit of a power trip in the early stages but danny and sam go out of their way to bring him back to earth. he’s thriving and having fun and he’s still ready to drop everything if his friends need him.
val found out danny is phantom not long after she learned vlad is a halfa. the simplified version is that she became super paranoid after learning about vlad and tried to back off from ghost hunting. she no longer knew who was and wasn’t a halfa. anyone could be a halfa. no one was safe. trying to stop using her suit however had consequences however. she soon discovered that if her sensors went off she’d sometimes loose control of the suit, it would literally just wrap around her and take her to the ghost whether she activated it or not. the more she tried to separate herself from the suit, the more it took on a life of it’s own, the more it left her control.
this all came to a head when arm transformed into a gun. not as in a gun popped out of her armor on top of her arm. her physical arm transformed into a gun to blast at skulker. moments later her hand was back and unharmed but her body had been transfigured the way ghosts are. she realized she was no longer quite human. she needed to find a way to stop this. and of the two halfa’s she knew one was MIA traveling the world, the other was a villain who used her to his own ends. she instead goes to one of the few people she knows she can trust. danny fenton. he knew ghosts and he knew his parents tech. and he was one of the kindest people she knew. he wouldn’t turn her over to anyone or make her into an experiment. one trip through the fenton dream catcher later and suddenly you have a very relieved, almost completely human val, and a raging mech of a ghost suit going crazy and attacking every ghost it can fine with a deadly vengeance. including danny in human form.
together danny and val have to stop the suit, val gets a good look at what her rage looks like and what it created. it’s also towards the end of the event revealed that danny is phantom. he apologizes and everything. and val realizes that what she’d become and why danny didn’t trust her. and she sees the havoc her ghost suit is reaping. so determined to fix things val re-merges with her suit and taking control back. to do this she has to accept that she no longer quite human, that the suite is part of her now. but by doing that she can finally let go of the rage that’s been driving her for so long.
she comes away, technically a halfa and apologizing to danny back. they’re friends but never get back to being romantic partners. the whole... everything was too much, and danny eventually ends up with sam. val ends up spending a lot of time working on herself and is looking to join the police eventually. she still fights ghost to protect the town but has mellowed out a great deal. still a certified badass
Jazz has been attending the ivy league collage of her dreams and is working on her thesis. it’s about ghost psychology and is going to be a major resource proving that ghosts are in fact sentient feeling creatures. this research paper will help sam’s lobbying and do a lot for the field of ecto-science in general. she still visits danny and the fam all the time and is thriving, though the stress of working on her thesis is getting to her. she’s showing the typical stressed collage student crazy and looks a lot less put together than usual when she’s doing work binges. danny thinks it’s a good look on her. jazz doesn’t think he’s funny.
the fenton’s have taken a break from ghost hunting after realizing how it effected their family and endangered danny. they call themselves officially retired but are still inventing and selling their projects and occasionally will still go on ghost hunts as the equivalent of cheat days. they haven’t mellowed in age and are still really excitable and ridiculous.
dani has successfully become a cryptid the world over.
danny being revealed to the town, i have no specific idea of how this reveal happens, led to vlad being revealed. and by extension the fenton parents getting royally pissed at vlad and how he treated their son. he got beat up to Wisconsin and back and is currently in prison, covered in ghost technology that prevents him from escaping. tucker is spending all his money. he’s not at a point where he wants or is going to get redemption in this timeline. danny pity’s him.

Two interest me
- the ouran high school host club haunting
- zukrew vs the world
dp ouran crossover, where essential the fenton parents died and vlad took custody of danny and jazz. to further issolate them, he moved them to japan and now they're attending the prestigious rich person school. kyoya and haruhi as the top students in jazz and danny's grade end up showing them the school and thus they're pulled into the host club. but the hosts are noticing that danny's home life is abusive and also that he's pretty freaking weird. so of course they have to be nosy and try to help their new friend leading to their very own ghost hunting adventures.
zuko tries to summon the spirits of truth and cunning to help him find the avatar and restore balance to the world but instead gets the spirits chosen heroes, edward elric and midoriya izuku. to return home they have to end the war. they start with pre- first episode zuko. so angry and loud and determined. but of course ed and mido are really the type to take shit or side with injustice. so they hasten zuko's development. in general they're a chaotic trio, who are far to willing to commit crime if it's for the right reasons. they fight a lot. they're ridiculously talented. they're vigilantes. good stuff. intended to continue through ed and mido's worlds. basically unleashing this chaotic trio on all three of their universes to "restore balance" aka be child soldiers. it's sorta crack but also just fun to explore the characters and how their universes are similar plenty of angst too

H2O Sam anon: Yes to all of that. Love all the additions and stuff! My favorite bit is Danny and Tucker taking the splash for Sam, they absolutely would. (Also for the straw thing I was imagining it was one of those collapsible ones or ones with a case? I dunno, just something easy to carry/store.) Love the thing with Jazz too! Jazz giving the fairy a name because she feels bad is great because now she has a fairy familiar basically. She'd probably call it her sidekick or something (which pisses it off lol), and with everyone else having supernatural responsibilities, I can imagine they come with her with "troubles" (aka ways to trick her into getting its name back) and through all that she eventually picks up her own responsibilities in faerieland or whatever (I imagine it's underground like in Artemis Fowl? Oh hey there's an option for a media to base the fae stuff on...) :D
having a small case would make sense. a straw is definitely something she can keep in her bag or purse.
Tucker and Danny absolutely would go out of their way to cover for Sam even if it meant ending up in embarrassing situations. they're all shown doing it for each other in canon just to cover Danny's secret. i see no reason why that would change if they have more secrets to cover and different weaknesses. i definitely see them having to come up with more increasingly frantic distractions and lies to prevent people from seeing them transform. i feel they'll probably develop something of a reputation for this.
jazz getting close to her fairy familiar is a whole vibe. she'd be so innocent and nice about it but also is too smart to be tricked. it's that combination of nieveness and shrewdness that makes her particularly annoying. her fairy friend, who really should have a name at this point... something sciency probably based on how she named her teddy bear, but still somewhat stupid because of the ways she named the ghosts. currently i'm leaning towards calling him Higgs after the Higgs Bosan particle. has some nice old man energy, implies that they're small. idk i guess it depends on what kind of character you want the fairy to be. either way, i see a lot of misadventures happening because jazz is trusting enough to go along with Higg's ideas and smart enough to escape situations unscathed, especially if she has Danny, Sam, and Tucker watching her back. any problem that's too much for her to face alone, Danny has probably sussed out because he's protective.
i do like the idea of this being similar to the artimas fowl universe. there's a lot of potential for that and the world building is already established. on the other hand it has been a very long time since i read artimas fowl and from what i remember the fae were very tech savey and very rascist. the tech i'm a little iffy on because i'm low key not into scifi. on the other hand there is a sort of balance with the fenton tech. also see the fae being irritated that jazz has this seemingly random effective and sometimes faulty technology. the racism could be a good source of conflict but also... i don't know it feels like a lot to tackle. especially with everything going on in this au. that's probably a job for another author who know AF better. either way lots of potential for this idea
if nothing else i do like the idea of the fae living underground and having a whole society there. AF isn't the only one that's done this. we could also reference alice in wonderland or the underland series or so on. i could forsee one of jazz's ongoing things is that the fae world, doesn't always make sense. like there are rules and as she starts to grasp them she can play by them well, but a lot of it isn't logical or sensible, and as a logical, sensible person this can often lead to her being rather wrong footed in the fae world. that can be a source of conflict. being childish helps at least. it's something she'll have to work on- Hestia

The Lazarus Pit Quarters
Danny Phantom, still a teenager, getting trained to be kind of the ghost zone gradually over his high school career. more and more frequently being called to handle problems in the zone that he’d be expected to handle once he’s fully king
Danny Phantom having to go around the zone finding natural portals and close them for the health of the zone. some of them are very old, some just randomly close on their own. either way he has to keep his eye out for them because they tend to cause problems for everyone.
Danny finding one and stepping through it to find what’s on the other side and check the damage only to come out through a thick congealed corrupted mess of ectoplasm that had gathered on the surface of this portal because it’s been there for so long.
Danny being disgusted and phasing the ectoplasm off, looking to all the world as though a paranormal creature had just been birthed from the ectoplasm, glowing and more powerful than any who had emerged from the pit before, startling and scaring the league of assassins that are present.
the league immediately trying to kill Danny because they don’t recognize him and no unknown has come out of the pit before, especially one that seems more dead than alive.
Danny phasing through the attacks, having long come to expect to be attacked by humans when he’s fully ghost. their attacks aren’t with anti ghost weapons so he’s fine to go back to what he was doing and check the damage.
this causing mild panic and furious further attempts on his life while he basically brushes them off and closes the portal because something that disgusting does not need to be open any longer. he might be stable and powerful enough not to be effected by the goo, but other unsuspecting ghosts probably aren’t
the present league members fully panicking and furious because he just destroyed one of their greatest sources of power.
Danny panicking slightly as he realizes that he was on the wrong side of the portal when he closed it and he can no longer get home.
Danny noticing his ghost sense when off, and after some amount of confusion and arguing and murder attempts figuring out Gul’s whole deal of dumping people in the corupted portal and making incomplete halfas. zombies..quarter ghosts. quarters.
Danny calling anyone brought back from the Lazarus pit a quarter because he finds it funny. no one else finds it funny.
Danny deciding to hunt down all the quarters and clear up the corruption and advise them on the ghost stuff, while he figures out a way to get home. recognizing the only way is to figure out how to create his own portals, something he’s only experimented with before, or for someone to come and get him
Danny bugging various league of assassin members, and revealing to them 1. he’s not that scary despite being an untouchable ‘demonic’ being. 2. if he comes for you he drains the Lazarus rage out of you and teaches you powers you until then didn’t know you had.
the league coming to be possessive of Danny, and basically manipulating him into making them more powerful. because having this powerful being on their side can only be a good thing.
Danny ending up learning assassin skills as a trade off, but makes it clear early on that he’s anti- murder so the league are very carefully keeping the fact that they’re all killers from him. (yes they did immediately attack him but people usually do that. Danny has no standards)
Damian being high key terrified of the demonic creature that came out of the Lazarus pit, and was already set into hiding with Bruce before the league figured out they like Danny.
Danny eventually figuring out the league is villains and taking off, but still keeping his eyes out for quarters while working on his portal making patterns.
Danny eventually finding Jason and clearing his Lazarus rage and offering to help with the ghost powers but also no murder. Jason actually agreeing to this because he already has standards and can hold off till the kid leaves
Jason and Danny developing a weird friendship, to the point where Danny is cool being a human around him.and living in his apartment and stealing Jason’s cereal. Jason mellowing out without the pit rage, though he’s still obviously traumatized and angry. showing ptsd symptoms
Jason high key being protective of this kid because Danny did him a favor and is also batman’s type. doing his best to prevent Danny from becoming a robin. Danny is not interested in the tights, thank you very much
Danny still getting pulled into vigilantism, partly because crime follows Jason around, partly because the league want danny back
Danny meeting the rest of the bats. Damian is still afraid of Danny and hates that he’s scared and it’s a whole thing. everyone but mainly Tim and Bruce are concerned that Danny has no paper trail. until he came out of the portal he didn’t exist. he acknowledges he’s from a different dimension. doesn’t mean they’re happy to have no background on him
Bruce is also not thrilled about Danny bringing super powers into his town. Jason being defensive and also having superpowers becomes a things. jokes that Jason has adopted Danny also are made. but they’re actually pretty close in age at this point.
Dick and Danny just making puns at each other as often as possible. they’re best friends. everyone else hates this and conspires to keep them apart
Alfred feeding Danny when ever possible because Danny let slip that he didn’t get regular meals at home. he’s already adopted this child. Bruce needs to catch up. Danny also really likes Alfred and thinks he’s cool, ends up good friends with him.
eventually the league does catch up and a big fight happens. danny and the bats fight them off, but danny finally masters making portals and decides to head home. goodbyes are had and it’s also a whole thing.
he’ll probably be back, has to keep an eye on his quarters after all

What if one day, Danny was suddenly has the power to fuse with people like in Steven Universe? Like, when he phases into people, he has a choice of either overshadowing them or fusing with them.
He prefers to do it with Sam, Tucker, & Jazz because they're friends & always on hand. Because of Sam & Tucker having been infected with ecto-acne & possessed by powerful entities before (Undergrowth & Duul Aman's staff), they have slight ecto-signatures & echoes of the powers they had when possessed & this results in a more powerful fusion with new abilities. What do you think?
I am on board, i love me some fusion! and having it be ecto-based is interesting. i'd say everyone in town, especially the high schoolers have at least some level of ecto contamination but the line when it becomes a signature is what interests me. sam and tucker are far from the only ones to be possessed, after all. most of the town has been possessed. but i suppose the power level of the ghost makes a difference. i'd also argue that the fact that sam and tucker have litterally been in the ghost zone, same for val actually(the skulker kidnapping). so that could also be a large contribute to all three of them developing signatures.
however much as i love exploring overpowered character, i'm also a writer and need conflict, so balancing. danny should only be able to fuse with people with ecto signatures. if they're too human his ghost side doesn't have enough ecto to fuse with. if they're too ghost, it mostly becomes fighting over who controls his human half. as such the main people he can fuse with would be sam, tucker, valerie, vlad, and dani. maybe jazz but i haven't seen her get exposed to to much ectoplasm (but then again she has lived in that house for years). i could also see the high schoolers, slowly developing enough of a signature to join the list of potential fusion allies but danny would hesitate to fuse with people he doesn't trust anyway. emergency only basis for them.
aside, i feel it's reasonable to assume this is a adaptable core danny fic, because purely ice core would not explain this ability and it's certainly not something other ghost can do or something vlad knows he can do. i imagine it's a rare power in itself and the fact that danny developed it at all was because a major fight. possibly against a hivemind? a being that would critisize him for not being able to beat him because he's just one ghost against many.
continuing the balancing, separating is harder than fusing and there's a strong chance of danny and friends getting stuck the first few times after discovering this power. and the longer spent fused the harder it is to detach. this is one of the areas that it would differ from SU. in SU fusion is mainly a meeting of the minds, a relationship. unfusing is as easy as a disagreement, of wanting to separate. in DP it's a meeting of cores and well... ectoplasm is sticky. i have the mental image of two globs of ectoplasm slowly mixing into each other and merging into one core. one person/ghost. the longer they're stuck together the more the colors blend and the harder it is to separate them out again. arguments or dislike can still help separate the cores. but i imagine the more you trust and care about someone the harder it is to separate in general. this'll give the trio a reason not to fuse recklessly all the time. they love each other and being fused all the time would be great if there weren't consequences. defusing between the three of them is usually a little reluctant.
i'd also say unwilling fusion, say vlad trying to force a fusion with danny would lead to the cores actively rejecting each other. the cores would just refuse to merge, almost bouncing off each other. no consent, no fusion. sticky fusion would be too parasitic otherwise- Hestia

Black Lantern Danny
so the black lantern is powered through death and only corpses can use them, creating zombie like creatures who go on killing rampages and raise the dead. they're usually villains in the lantern series and have to be defeated. also the death rings release black tendrils into the corpses and therefore can't be removed until the ring itself is destroyed. most rings start inert and are powered when you kill and rips someones heart out.
so danny getting a black ring isn't great for him. he's dead enough that when he finds it and puts it on it doesn't destroy him. i also expect that the ring could be powered with ectoplasm instead of murder in this case. having access to the ghost zone makes controlling this ring a hell of a lot easier and it does provide a powerup to danny's usual powers. it protects him better than the half ass shields he puts up and has a mild sort of regeneration involved. the ability to raise and control the dead is the biggest deal. not only does it mean he has access to an army in a graveyard, but it probably means he can control ghosts to an extent. something he debates the morality of because he knows what it's like to be controlled and hated it, but also sometimes the big ghosts aren't going to go away any other way.
but the thing is even if danny controls the ring wells and resists the murder impulses and remains a hero, (mainly protecting the ghost zone from external threats or dragging the dead back where they belong. settling other zombie and death problems such as the Lazarus pit) he doesn't look like a good guy. he in fact looks terrifying as all hell. if danny uses the corpse raising powers he's not going to look like a good person, and add his history of bad pr and well it's far more likely that the lanterns are going to try to defeat him rather than recruit him.
this situation also brings in the weird scenario of the dead zone. a place similar to the ghost zone where the unliving reside. but it's all black and white. the dead don't seem as... cartoonish or driven by obsession as the ghosts are so i could see them as two separate but similar areas. maybe even dimensions that are either overlapping or tied to each other. danny having access to both is strange for him but also adds to how op he is. i have a feeling the black ring corps will have no idea what to do with him once they have him. he's powerful, he's capable but he's really not about killing or the death of the universe thanks.
add to that he's technically still alive, or at least half alive, and he's in a very unique position. the only living person to use a black ring. unable to remove it even as he switches back and forth. labeled as evil just for having it. danny's not having a good time with this ring. especially because it makes him 'even more of a freak'.
maybe we could pull some lore and world building into this and say the dead zone and ghost zone once were the same place but due to pariahs rise to power and a war with the being that rules the dead zone, the dimensions separated. and that's why the dead zone is so lifeless and soulless, and why the ghost zone is so chaotic and broken.
danny as the link between worlds ends up having to unite the ghost zone and the dead zone somehow, bringing them together and restore balance in death. which is a whole lot of responsibility to shove on a kid who's been dead a year. but hey i'm all about escalating conflict. we can throw in ghost king danny too. he might already have the right to rule the ghost zone through his defeat of pariah dark and he'll probably have to defeat someone else to bring the zones back together. and just that kind of act is going to put him into the position of being the biggest deal in the ZONE. so really it can be a whole thing. clockwork is probably manipulating things a bit in the background to ensure this.
also still being apive and having attachments to that means he's uniquely qualified to handle the death stuff in the living world, so he's helping balance that. too.
essentially giving danny a blank lantern ring makes him a death god. and grim reaper to zombies and the like. and this happened entirely accidentally on his part.
i have a feeling he's going to end up fighting the green lanterns at some point and it'll be total self defense on his part. i think the fact that he doesn't kill them is what convinces them that oh, he's in control. great. but it's still a bad time for everyone. and afterwards they kinda accept danny and the fact that he's a lantern, but they also have no idea what to do with him
danny's cool with being left alone but is always down to be called to space to handle other Death issues or black lanterns. i think seeing him interact with the black hand and some of the other evil revanant types would be interesting. mostly because he'd be so sarcastic about it and they do not understand where he's coming from at all.
the revelation that he's still alive and just a teenaged kid is the biggest mind blowing event to happen to anyone in the corps black or green. you're telling me this baby defeated us? this paradoxical alive and dead baby? what do you mean he's destined to restore the zones to their rightful state? it also puts hal into a mood because he 1. didn't know he was trying to beat up a literal child. and 2. is now a concerned dad to said child. but he is not at all prepared for all the metaphysical implications that danny represents.
the ring makes him of three worlds. eventually two. but still that means he's the only one that can do this stuff. it also means he's the most alone. being a halfa he at least had dani and vlad. being a black lantern? yeah their are other lanterns but again most of them are killers trying to destroy the universe. being a black lantern and a halfa. that's one of a kind. so expect issues from that too.
i could also see the ring trying to bring the murderer out of him, especially in moments of weakness. the fight with dan helped but a neat stop to that potential. danny will always have the will power to resist it because he knows what the bad end looks like. but it'll still be hard and strike him at bad moments. so seeing him emotionally struggle with the ring saying "kill" in the back of his head will be interesting.
it's a fun scenario and hopefully danny will make friends along the way that will help balance out the bad times. i'd really like to see how it goes - Hestia

I love the idea of Vlad not being a true halfa like Danny is and more of a human infected with ectoplasm. Mostly just because I think he would be totally pissed off by this thought. Like, this narcissist probably gets off on the fact that he is the older more experienced halfa, except it turns out he's not a halfa, and this kid he's been lording his power over is getting stronger and stronger and will soon surpass him.
haha, yeah. he's just a sick man, with an extremely specific type of poisoning. he's not a new creature. he's not genetically rewritten to the very cell. he's also probably going to die a lot sooner than danny ever will because of this. even with the ectoacne cured. his is a human body that was never made to contain ectoplasm. sure he's adapted for the time being, but the poisoning or something else will kill him fully eventually. danny meanwhile has a unique resilience that's to be envied. he literally gets the best of both worlds. it's probably obnoxious to other ghosts. he can't die easily, and his human half is even building up his ghost half with it's adaptability. he's not limited to one obsession or even one power set. if something messes with his ghost side, he can go human, if something messes with his human side he can go ghost. he's like a roach. good luck getting rid of him ghost zone - Hestia

Danny is the type of kid who becomes tall out of nowhere and then get begged to play a sport
hell yeah. we've seen dan, we've seen his dad. puberty is gonna hit our boy like a freaking truck. plus he's already proven fairly athletic from all his ghost hunting, doing flips and throwing punches, and running constantly. i fully believe that the whole trio is secretly ripped. not in aesthetic way but in a practical way. because again they're out fighting, running, dodging, blasting. they'd probably do well on track out of everything.
so for this situation i see a slow unveiling of talent. danny developed something of an indifference to dash's bullying because he's dealing with worse and more important things. so usially he just goes with the situation to get it over with as fast as possible. like yes, throw me in the locker, i have class that i want to be on time for, for a change, lets move this along. this is back when he's still short. tucker still looks nerdy and thin and is still more interested on relying on his tech than any athletic ability. sam is the most recognized as somewhat athletic but most people just see the goth and don't notice the arm muscles or calf's she's rocking. girl could bench press paulina, and no one realizes.
until
some sort of ghost attack. i feel like the one where the kids had to fight to get their parents back would fit as the beginning of the realization. like danny sam and tucker hold their own through that fight. danny actually shows a fair bit of coordination and helps the others with ghost hunting training. i think it would be around then that people note that they're not as weak as they look. then over a series of other attacks across a time period, people start really noticing. tucker climbs a building to get to a high point to use a megaphone for evacuation. sam literally princess carries paulina out of a situation. danny in human form punches skulkers head off. it's one of those things that make it into vague rumor but isn't a big enough deal to get much louder, than a few confused comments.
then puberty hits and suddenly a lot of their physical progress suddenly becomes obvious. they all fill out in ways the student body isn't prepared for. like they figured out on paper that the trio are kind of strong, but then suddenly tucker is showing off his abs to the girls and his pecs and arms are showing through his slightly too tight shirt, and he's still managing to be a total nerd about it. sam gets pretty tall, especially with her boots and she has the posture and confidence to seem like a model or mma fighter. she's that much scarier. no one wants to fuck with her. and then there's danny. who shot up to six feet over the course of a summer, has the chris evens v-chest kinda going on, is struggling to find shirts that fit now, constantly bumping his head because he no longer has the same clearance, and he's still growing!
of course, they're gonna be begged to join various teams/ have sudden spike in popularity. i imagine tucker is living for this attention but danny and sam kinda liked being ignored better. danny initially enjoyed the attention but it quickly became apparent that people paying attention to you makes it a lot harder to keep a secret. he also just doesn't have time fore sports. the ghosts don't care about his schedule but coach tesloff and all of his team mate care a lot. he doesn't want to disappoint anyone. i could see a whole episode about this, danny tries at football it ultimately doesn't work out, tucker spends the episode showing off to girls until they get sick of it/it blows up in his face. and for sam, oho, sam gets offered a modeling job that has paulina foaming at the mouth in jealousy. she accepts the job purely to piss her off. there's a lot of fun to be had with this - Hestia
