the owl mask is SO good... full wise old man mode... im not sure what the concept behind that third one is, maybe a piece of glass or a chunk of post-fire rubble? and the middle one is just so fucking angy hes doing the arthur fist
also another instance of concept versions being SO long and spindly. it's a REALLY really fun art style but i am glad they all got a little chunkier, it really helps the readability from afar and the general cartoonishness of the style

Chainsaw Man Chapter 150 "Early" Analysis
Hoo boy what a chapter how are we all doing cause Fujimoto came out fucking swinging this chapter. Before that I should give some context as to my day caused I went to bed at like 4am then woke up at 8:30am didn't go back to sleep because I had classes so I read this entire chapter in kind of a haze. So all the Tricks Fujimoto was playing were catching me.
Like I was reading and I see that woman in the left and I have to do a double take "what the fuck is asa doing there- oh thats not asa" THEN IN THE NEXT PANEL I DIDN'T EVEN CATCH THIS UNTIL LATER DENJI IS DOING THE EXACT SAME FUCKING DOUBLE TAKE
I originally clocked this scene as being about Denji being upset about everything still being normal despite the circumstances but I don't think thats it anymore. He looks genuinely shaken and Im sure most of that is being worried about the apartment and the pets but then seeing someone who looks so much like Asa has probably genuinely rattled him more.
And this fucking page was vile Fujimoto how dare you. I thought for a moment in my sleep delusion that everything was okay and they'd gotten home and just continued to live their life despite all the shit going on because that seemed to be what was being set up with Nayuta's "They're still going about their lives despite whats going on" line.
This whole panel is very intentional and its kind of weird and still kinda sickens me a bit because its so fucking ARGH. We've known Denji isn't really happy and he hasn't been for a long time he's just been going through the motions. Being Chainsaw Man was the one thing that he still had that could bring him happiness. I know this is going to sound like an awful thing to say but the way everything has been framed upto this point especially with Nayuta on his back kind of frames her like a burden to Denji. I know its a terrible thing to say I know he loves her and cares about her and I don't know if he's even on the same wavelength but his complacency and loss of his core happiness has been due to Makima and indirectly Nayuta. I doubt Denji blames Nayuta for any of it because it isn't her fault that she's being used as a hostage. It feels like Barem has infected my fucking thought stream.
This marks Pochita's first in manga appearance in like the entirety of part 2. This whole sequence seems to be mirroring Denji and Asa since Asa/Yoru has the recurring nightmare about the dead birds and then tripping up at the most important moments.
I wasn't even really sure if this scene was real at first like if this was really their house on fire. I didn't even really register what this all meant until Barem started talking about it.
Stop lying we know its because you're afraid Asa would kick your ass.
Barem's transformation trigger being a molar is still weird. I've been trying to figure out why its a molar because hybrids usually have triggers relating to the weapon they embody. Denji pulls a chainsaw ripcord, Reze pulls the pin on a grenade, Katana Man unsheathes his sword, Ect.
So the possible explanations for Barem me and my friends came up with;
1. It's wordplay a molar is a unit of measurement (a mole) which refers to the amounts of a single substance within a solution. So it could be like flamethrower fluid?
2. It's a lighter switch like that bit at the top of a lighter that makes the spark. This one is more likely and could potentially mean Barem can transform/regen without using his hands which would make him VERY dangerous.
Now to the most insane part of the chapter
THIS FUCKING WOMAN NO THIS FUCKING THING THIS CREATURE KNOWN AS FUMIKO HER PLOT ARMOR IS FUCKING UNPIERCABLE. How does he escape the whip hybrid point blank when the other members all got hit and are very clearly damaged by it? Only two possible explanations which are both sickening, Fujimoto has something planned for her (Hopefully her DEATH). Worse off, She's going to survive part 2.
ALSO Now unrelated to Fumiko, I guess
The fucking public safety hunters are absolute dogshit are you kidding me dude?? Lets recap all these events that have taken place within at maximum a single hour (probably less than 30 minutes).
1. Denji and Nayuta go to the park
2. Hybrids attack, Quanxi dismisses them all and they're assumably put into custody
3. Fire contracts activate and Barem escapes custody
4. Yoru fights Yoshida, Yoshida flees
5. Barem runs straight to Denji's house and burns it to the ground
6. Sometime between 3 and 5 the Hybrids ESCAPE custody and make it to Denji's house in order to aid Barem.
I'm choosing to blame this all on Fumiko cause she was supposed to be DOING SHIT and yet all she does is run away and do fucking nothing ever this is atrocious this woman has to go. Heres my fucking theory I established on my Death Devil post (The Yoshida Joke one) that the Horsemen on earth are all fiends of some sort, But their power likely doesn't diminish as much as normal fiends. Fumiko's purpose will be as the corpse the death devil inhabits thats why shes been given such a focus and thats why she has this fucking giorno giovanna tier plot armor
ALSO IS BAREM'S FULL FUCKING NAME REALLY "Barem Bridge" IS THAT FUCKING REAL IS THIS NAME REALLY JUST FUCKING FUCKING "Burn Them Bridge" WHEN YOU SAY IT OUTLOUD IS THAT REAL?

WE ARE UP PEOPLE and by people I mean all the Suresh girlies!!!!😆😆😆💖💖💖
This volume was EVERYTHING AND MORE!!! Was definitely worth all the drama we’ve been dealing with for the last few weeks.
1.) Finn is just dirty! Yes Suresh cheated, but Suresh has always admitted that he was wrong and made it known he wanted us back. Finn is a flip flopper who wants what he can’t have. He is in a couple with Kat, knows how she feels about him and he still is trying to get some from MC? I definitely hosed him down with cold water for that! Kat still wants you after the embarrassment you continuously put her through, shame. Also I caught that comment when he said he MAY be open to the idea of marriage BUT I’m still me at the end of the day. So you want to have your cake and eat it to, got it. 😒👌🏾
2.) Not only did Suresh confess that we are is one and only love we found out he was gonna PROPOSE TO US?!?!??🥹🥹🥹 I wanted MC to just hop in his arms after that like they were both ready to commit to one another! Granted, they probably need couple therapy to help with that communication first but they wanted each other!😭😭😭 What if they were gonna propose to each other on the same day?! MY HEART 😭💖 Now we gotta thank Gabi for this cause without her foolishness and calling herself trying to one up MC we would not have gotten that, so for that thank you Gabi. I felt a tad bit bad for her only a tad, but i had to remember the snarky comments she gave us. The one thing I wished FB would have gave us when she was leaving is that we could tell her off like with Arlo and Meerat, but her not only embarrassing herself but then leaving was very satisfying. 😌
3.) Alfie 🙄🙄🙄 I DO NOT WANT YOU! WE ARE NOT GETTING BACK TOGETHER! What is not clicking?!? You messed that up babe. When he call himself saying that Suresh messed things up with MC I wanted to scream NO YOU DID! And he thought going on a dusty musty and crusty tour would bring feelings back, sir that is dead and gone! Suresh learned his lesson on losing me, you are too little too late. You had the nerve to kiss Kat, recouple with meerat, and then think you can come back to me, kick rocks sir!
4.) Suresh babe, I know you are truly and genuinely sorry but I need that cockiness to comeback. I chose you, I choose you, it was always gonna be you. The fact that he was packing his bags cause he figured my MC didn’t want him broke my heart. I wished since we were alone we could have gotten a cute moment or at least a snog or something! 😫😫
Lastly, that cliffhanger was so unnecessary FB like why?! Why couldn’t we have chosen our couple and then we get a cliffhanger for the others. 😤 Overall this volume was fun and so satisfying! 😄 Def giving me ideas and has me pumped for the boat scene (that will hopefully have bits *🤞🏾*). Sorry for the long thoughts, just had to share them with you and my Suresh girls! This was our week.😏😌

the Finn storyline had potential I saw where they were going with him but then week two of Finny I was like NAUR this man won't ever actually claim MC and he has a TERRIBLE pattern of it and look EVEN NOW, last week and he STILL hasn't claimed MC. he's waiting for her to do it. For her to have to choose him at the recoupling so that Kat, kicks off on MC. How is that fair? You're so right about Gabi 💀 if it weren't for her disrespectful ass trying to play us we never wouldve found out that Suresh was trying to propose 😩🥹😭 but not only that Suresh CLAIMED us, said he loved us and that he STILL loved us now. That we were the ONLY person that he ever loved. (unrelated but related if u pick gabi the man is DEVASTATED)
ALFIE...here's what irks me about him. I gave him a shot pre-casa (I always knew I was going to be with Suresh, but your girl was bored) and yes I did kiss Suresh but he never ONCE let me explain myself, he never actually really gave us the truth about him and Kat (who initiated, what they discussed) if he actually truly liked us, we shouldve been able to sort through those issues and discussed them. I couldve even dismissed the fact the he brought meera back from casa, if after he came back if he was all about MC right after. But no was all lovey dovey with Meera, and only remembered we were alive when his girl was sent home. Alfie...you shouldve left with your girl mate!

This is long, I apologize.
Okay, I reblogged the chapter post with thoughts but I want to talk about the chapter just a little bit more. First off, I was texting my friend live updates of me reading it and they asked me to send the link because they love your writing. They’ve never read fanfiction before but to try just for oafk. (Also, me talking about oafk constantly probably convinced them as well.)
This chapter is soooo good. This episode isn’t my favorite because of how it’s set up (that’s so unrelated to this, though), but you wrote in a way that I just absolutely love this. I love the scenes you added in between Merlin and Arthur. I love the characterization you write, but that’s one of your strong suits along with emotions. It’s just so captivating and immersive, not because I know what’s going to happen but because of how you write it.
I love the dagger scene a lot, especially where Arthur almost calls Merlin his friend. But I really love when Merlin thanks Arthur for not ratting him out and Arthur threatens him but then what follows it is, “It’s a lie. Both he and Merlin know it. Arthur wouldn’t do anything of the sort, he would stand up for Merlin again and again if he had to.” And I’m not saying Merlin does or doesn’t know that, but it’s this idea that Arthur thinks they’re on the same page always, but they’re not and it’s so interesting to see that portrayed.
Okay, to my favorite part; how you go about Morgana and Merlin in this. Morgana is unaware of everything going on, and she’s scared. We can tell that in the show, but the cut off in the show makes it difficult to be entirely sure, but you make it clear. I feel for Morgana in this because this is absolutely terrifying. Then Merlin is trying to protect her in the beginning before slowly believing that Morgana is guilty, which well done on that thought process happening. The guilt, the fear, the confusion, all of it is so good.
I will say my favorite line in the entire chapter is, “She might not have been a danger to them yet, but she has always had the capacity for it, no matter how much Merin denies it.” It just characterizes Morgana so well, especially after Merlin remembering the different things about her.
I can’t wait for the next chapter!

as much as i had a lot of fun with the merlin and arthur moments in this chapter im so glad your favourite bit was the merlin and morgana dynamic because i feel like thats the most important part of the chapter, this is such a major turning point for them (obviously) and im so so glad that you enjoyed watching that play out and how they both struggled with their decisions through the chapter - i think they're both grappling with a lot of guilt

finished samurai champloo do here is my attempt to keep my opinions about it brief. REALYL good show. im trying to find a playlist of the soundtrack in order bc the music in it is SO interesting like first of all obviously the hiphop and its used vv creatively but i also am a huge fan of that fast drum beat that i think they only used twice? both times mugen was fighting someone and its just a very interesting sound for both scenes, also thw whole show was visually soso beautiful and interesting and i want to eat it. u already said everything about mugens design but i also loved that jin's clothes were long and flowy and gave him a much larger shilouhette (not how thats spelled i think) which contrasts his restrained fighting style/persinality and also kind of fun bc of his like legend thats larger than him. fuu's design was cute and i loved her dagger i wish shed used it more but tbh i think more couldve been done with her than the constant kidnapping. i also really liked that the tonal shifts were natural and it changed between fun anarchronisms and zombies and like the harrowing inner life of the characters and the real struggles of the era. overall best show ive watched this year i think. now onto mind game

You are on point about the design for the leads, in the shape language and contrast and all those little details...:) About Fuu, she's a character I'm torn on. I love that she's a rare example of a teen girl character who actually feels like a teen girl, she's peppy and cute and kicks ass when she needs to and the writing of the show and other characters (even Mugen...lmfao) treat her like a person albeit an immature one. But her role in each episode...sheesh. it's one thing to talk about how sexist that era was because it absolutely was the case, but it doesn't do much with it. She's supposed to be the protagonist, her being the damsel in distress all the time got on my nerves and I agree way more could have been done with her. I really appreciated the episodes where she solved problems with her personality in ways the two guys wouldn't have been able to. But for how rare it is to have cool girls in shows...always dissapointing to see them become secondhand sometimes.
And about the historical stuff, the "real struggles of the era", I found that for a show that openly embraces "not historically accurate get off my tits" , it does a weirdly good job teaching about aspects of the time that aren't known about in the mainstream. Jokes on the writers, I guess! Even if it's mostly played for jokes, several episodes touch on the attempts at contact/colonization by Europe especially the Dutch, and I found the mystery around the rise of Christianity one of the most interesting parts when I first watched it.
As for the music....damn right it bangs. OP/ED alone are some of the best I know in anime. Was already the case for Bebop, but Watanabe has a thing for picking really good music and using it in slightly unconventional but awesome ways. If you haven't, I strongly recommend checking out nujabes, the artist behind the opening track. Unfortunately as far as I know he's not worked on other shows, as he tragically passed away only a few years after Champloo was released. He might be the one to have popularized chill beats especially among anime fans. I'll recommend my favorite track of his, Lady Brown, the sweetest love song I know :)... As well as another unrelated track that you might dig, kode9's 9 samurai, who's beat revolves around sampling what I believe to be a Kurosawa movie soundtrack. Bit off topic but hey that's the vibe with Champloo's writing too isn't it

Also sidenote I just saw a video from the TikToker who inspired my straykids\nct\exo members who'd date a big girl post and she took back what she said about Chan. As she should cause that's what inspired me, you can't look at that man and say he wouldn't. What changed her mind was that open hand air smack cause thats a hand for someone with a lot going one. He's always watching and he had to dispell the rumors, just let me have this I feel this in my heart. This was slightly unrelated but I had to share it.

irt to marius the skittish horse: IM WHEEZE LAUGHING. tho marius doesnt strike me as a skittish horse at all, more like a wild one. i think vyn would approach his relationship w marius something more like "horse, behave." and then marius is like "no!"
(i dont think vyn would on purpose pavlov condition anybody since thats a bit questionable, even if it is funny. but vyn is also very fond of routines so he may have accidentally primed marius to expect praise when he twirls his pen. vyn catches on quickly and tries to stop doing that...except when he really needs marius to shut up and focus.)
artem is the skittish horse thats hiding behind a stoic horse image. vyn approaches his relationship w artem (after the whole tense lowkey rivalry enemies thing) by being gentler. and personally gifting artem a peppermint plant from his garden. because horses like peppermint. artem does not eat the peppermint raw, he uses it in his cooking.
luke is a horse that looks so lovely and kind but when you get too close or harm any of his horse friends (and vyn will eventually realize that he is included in luke's horse friend list) luke will bite and kick and kill. luke is wary as well, so vyn is the most careful with him, first studying him from afar until luke gets fed up with how thats cryptic as fuck. after that, vyn is much more honest, lest luke does a metaphorical horse kick spanning from the playful ones like jabs at vyn's sleep sched to ones that can definitely fucking hurt.
mc is not a horse to vyn. she is, however, somebody he trusts greatly and he actually tells her about the horse thing. to which she finds HILARIOUS but also fascinating. she asks him how to handle the horses, so to speak, and he is very open to letting her know. like teaching a rookie to ride a horse. but, er, hes not teaching her how to ride the. the team. or. well. he COULD. she seems like she'll know more about that though

At this point the feeling is mutual but neither cats have talked to each other !! they both are on each other's mind like all the time, they cannot hold eye contact and there's this scene after the patrol comes back from Skyclan and Fireheart's like insisted on sitting vigil for Spottedleaf but he's already super exhausted from the travel back + Bluestar's death and Dustpelt's like urging him to his nest but Fireheart wants to stay up because of respect to his sister (figure) but like he can barley hold himself up and he's already an emotional wreck after what happened to Bluestar and Spotted's death would affect him more with all the time they spent together (since thats his mentor) and it's just :( Dustpelt is still at his side through it all

oh once squirrel & leaf are old enough to become apprentices and are apprenticed to fireheart (leaf) & dustpelt (squirrel) squirrel is set on pairing her & her sister's mentors together because even she can see what their spark

12 Anti LO Asks
1. its victim blaming of hades to tell minthe its HER fault she "couldnt get over him". like? you lied to her! youre the one who blurred the lines to date her! you were just as toxic to her if not more so by controlling where she lives and her job, all while never defending her to your cruel family! you had all the power over her while she had nothing! you dumped her for a 19 year old and dont care she crippled minthe! i wont excuse minthe's actions, but hades is ultimately the worse of the two IMO
2. you know why fans claimed "Minthe should've reacted better"? since the first episode Rachel has been drilling into their heads Minthe is an irredeemable monster, and her not bending over backwards to H/P means she deserves the absolute worst. Minthe reacting how anyone logically would doesn't matter when LO is designed to coddle H/P, and anyone against them must suffer for it, even if the victim to H/P's actions. they never wanted her to be "redeemed", they want her head on a silver platter.
3. i know this is not what she intended bc the only characterization rachel has of hxp is "the best over everything" but uh, does she know having hades control all the petroleum and gasses and whatever else is actively destroying the planet, right? like hes helping the very thing persephone draws her power from and what she's connected to be destroyed to appease hes need for wealth and power. its kinda gross hes being romanticized while he commits horrible acts like this for his bank account.
4. its not impossible to go opposite in their original myth personalities and still have it work. like in hades game, sisyphus is one of the most likable characters, achilles is gentle and kind, ares is calm and rational, etc, but it makes sense within the context of the story. LO in comparison goes "all these loving mothers are evil because i said so! this beloved god is now evil because i said so! minthe is evil because i said so!" and that's about it in terms of logic to these wild changes.
5. I can kinda get behind anon's theory about the flower nymphs looking like P to help her be undetected, the problem is there are also unrelated women in comic who are bright pink and look just like her, with hades even confusing them for her! if i had to bet the only reason they look like that is because rachel just wanted daphne to look like her to hammer home apollo is "obsessed" with P and to fake them as her "real family" over demeter. also just laziness in designing characters in general.
6. its weird hades and persephone are well aware what they're doing is bad even openly admitting it and yet the narrative is so hellbent on excusing their bad actions?? like hades being the major toxic factor in his relationship to minthe, persephone killing people, or hades wanting to bone an eternal 19 year old? like rachel you know thats not how character growth works, right? you cant show they have horrible flaws and leave them to never grow and learn from it, that's not good writing at all.
7. what i also dont get is the hierarchy makes no sense? like zeus is framed as the top god, but that would mean hades cant be the most important man ever so rachel also made him equal rank with zeus (and i guess poseidon too) so?? how does zeus have all that power over them then if theyre all equal? is it because zeus swallowed metis? also how are the fertility goddess so powerful and rare yet so easily taken down? how are they overpowered and super weak at the same time? i just dont get it.
8. Re reading chapter 144 and other anon is right we do see the pomegranate pin on Hades outfit (so Hades gifts it to her)
But also some things to note
During the makeout session persy begins to disappear in butterfly form and hades is like "no don't leave!" And he grabs her, preventing her from leaving. Which is..kinda Ick considering they were on their way to having (public) sex and he doesn't want her to leave which seems like he's not really respecting her boundaries? (because if she does he'll "be lonely")
The pomegranate pin is Hades' to begin with so technically one of Persephones symbols is not hers (yes I know in the original myth she ate it in the underworld / was forced to eat it but still its supposed to be her symbol)
Hades notes that he "doesn't want to overstep his boundaries as host" because Persephone is a guest (too late for that)
Persephones main concern (after what a week or 2?) after being raped is when Hades wants to stop her reaction is "dont you want me anymore?"
Girl you aren't even dating ...??
Persy's literal one and only concern is that she thinks if she doesnt sleep with Hades right then or when/if he wants to that "she wont be able to give him what hes used to" ... Which is reinforcing that she went to therapy to get "over being blocked" in regards to having sex
Although Hades does mention that she shouldn't feel like she needs to please him and that a kiss can just be a kiss which would be nice
(And yet his thinking of marrying her amd he's known her for 2, 3 weeks? ... And he says "the beginning of a new relationship is exciting and scary" so hes basically indicating thay their dating at this point, I think?)
And later the nymphs in the store are like "do you wanna be the dominatrix of the bedroom?? Buy this lingerie!" And persy does. So??
Meanwhile Demeter is very worried for her daughter who is busy sitting in Hades lap in a pool.
9. Can we talk about how anons are making fucking flow charts for the LO Timeline cause it's so ridiculously jumbled?
10. im not even against rushed relationships, ive known actual couples who met and were married all within the same year and it worked out great, the difference though is these were people who had their own lives and previous relationships. the issue with LO is RS designed it so Persephone can NEVER have relationships or a life outside of Hades, and if they did get married offscreen, it's framing their marriage in a toxic and unbalanced light. That's not a romance, it's a disaster waiting to happen.
