Sometimes, when Caleb was in combat, his body took over his mind, turning him into a creature of instinct and muscle memory, of strength, perseverance and a willingness to survive, and most of all to kill. He didn’t like surrendering to the killer, but sometimes he had no choice.

First aid and AEP devices located in his inner chest cavity.

A projector tucked in his right palm that can show images and videos with sound (the sound comes from his speakers, of course).

Bluetooth capabilities, up to and including security system integration. (For rebel camp only. ^^)

Voice and command recognition!

The ability to send messages to management for requests, concerns or other issues.

A voicebox that quotes all his lines from the series, AND, a programmed list of facts about his life and interesting behind the scenes information!

Facial joints and servos that allow for a range of emotions and humanlike movement in the rest of his body.

Internal sensors and emergency equipment to keep any children that may have wandered into the chest cavity alive and comfortable until paramedics and emergency personnel arrive. (Totally not gonna be important later!)

However, none of them have been able to see him.

AU without magic, modern world.

At the center of the plot is (you'd be surprised) poor Philip. In this AU he is a brothel owner and part time drug dealer. He's called the Laugh Seller. All the guys who were members of the Imperial Coven in canon work for him - like Lilith and Kikimora are his right and left hands. Hunter is here too, his duties include running errands and selling merchandise on the street. One day he came to his uncle's house and demanded in an ultimatum to hire him. Despite the fact that Hunter's father, Caleb, is strongly against the two of them socializing. The story with Caleb is also complicated - in their shared childhood with Philip, as in canon, Caleb walked away, leaving his brother in a religious cult where the two orphans were cared for. Philip, after some events that are sometimes banned on the internet for describing, ended up first in an orphanage and then in crime. The reunion of the brothers, although it was without the death penalty, did not go well, and their relationship since then somehow did not go any better. Caleb frankly despises his brother for his occupation and hates to interact with him. Because of this treatment and a difficult past made Phillip often experience depressive episodes, with which he copes with a knife, alcohol and drugs. Luz, who came into his life by coincidence, showing up at a brothel on her coming-of-age day, is a ray of sunshine in this kingdom of darkness. And Archie, who came into Philip's life like a sledgehammer blow to the head, became a constant reminder of the futility of existence and the impossibility of controlling his own destiny. At some point Caleb will come to his senses, and will want to intervene in his brother's life, but it's a long story that will be told in the fanfic.

3 Shadowgast fics that made me ugly cry

Okay so I read a LOT of shadowgast fanfics and I wanted to share some of the ones that made me absolutely weep. (I was going to wait until tomorrow but I got too excited to share).

All of these have some intense emotional distress, but I promise you all they may be angsty but they absolutely have happy endings.

They are all set in very different AU's, are hefty completed fics, and have similar feels!

1. the breathe before the phrase

It’s like something is waking up, like something unfurling and firing across long-unused paths of memory. His hands shake slightly, as he raises his bow and joins them, fingers fumbling against the pegs and fine tuners that give him control over his instrument. ---- Essek Thelyss is a leading violinist, his spot as Shadowhand of the Rosohna Philharmonic Orchestra has been uncontested for over a decade. Caleb Widogast is a recent arrival to the city, convinced by his friends to audition for one of the vacant violinist positions. After starting off on the wrong foot, Caleb and Essek get to slowly know each other, discover what brings them joy, create while defying expectations, and find out that what they can produce together may just be better than anything they can do separately.

Why I cried: The amount of pressure put on Essek made my heart absolutely shatter. That plus the pinning between Caleb and Essek had me weeping. The hurt/comfort energy. The bad parent Dierta and of course past Caleb Ickythong trauma healing. Other than the story itself Katie has put so much energy into explaining the music, the playlist is stunning, and the inspiration for the played pieces in the fic are grounded in actual compositions. No spoilers, but the ending is gorgeous <3

2.Till Human Voices Wake us

Will his treasonous alliance or the sea itself devour him first? (Or, the one where Caleb is a merman.)

Why I cried: okay so look, this story was so fucking sad I can't even begin to describe it. The love and longing between the two, the tragic backstory for Caleb. Treason = death for Essek (it's a happy ending though so do not worry, but I definitely worried so you don't have to LOL). It also has some stunning art in it!!!

It offers little in return, but perhaps there are fragments of possibility awaiting him.

Why I cried: Omg oh boy, this one made me BIG cry- honestly one of my favourite fics I have read so far. A true space opera, a story of love, in many forms, over time, space, and multiple lives. I sobbed from chapter one literally until the end. Though I think you will need an A03 account to read this one, but it is worth the wait to set one up. My partner watched me cry so much while I read this. I totally did download and save this fic to send to pals so they can cry with me. It is worth the agony for this happy ending. I might still be crying LOL

Unique Magic: "What Once was Mine" Through the use of magical herbs and alchemy, Ezra is able to capture the likeness of himself and other individuals. He can share and change other's physical features with these concoctions, ranging anywhere from shoe size to facial structure to vocal coords. These changes last as long as he desires as well as under his own set conditions at the cost of requiring outside materials to complete. Typically the magic is contained in what appears to be a type of spice or powder, and the change leaves a mark/tattoo on the individual which the magic is cast to indicate what exactly was changed.

Grade: Primarily teaches Sophomores and Juniors

Class: Teaches art and music, along with being the homeroom teacher of class 3-D.

Now, don't get him wrong! He has the best intentions, of course. There are many, many scary people and places out there in this Twisted Wonderland. People who would take advantage of such bright minds. He is simply preventing that from happening. The man has been around for a long time and has been through his own share of ordeals, so he would most definitely know.

He has a big heart. While he goes about an odd, constrictive way of showing it, he does truly care. He has a hard time letting things go, and he simply wants the best for those he cares for. Ezra would spoil every single one of his students rotten if he were able. Even as a rather new professor at NRC, he wishes to guide every single one of them on the right path.

Outfit Inspiration

Author's Notes: ARGHHH MY BOY... Ezra is a very new character I made only a few months ago. He was created specifically for TCOAV, but alas I have grown attached. Given we already have quite a few gaslight gatekeep girlboss type characters over here, I decided to focus more on twisting different aspects of Mother Gothel. I particularly focused on her parental tendencies as well as her means of "caring" for Rapunzel. Whereas whether Gothel truly cares for Rapunzel or not is still up in the air, and they truly had a toxic relationship nonetheless, I wanted to make Ezra a more misguided but good individual.

Some thoughts about my All Is Well AU I’d like to share (This is a Jedi-centric AU, so it’ll only involve them):

Palpatine and Plagueis die because of a failed experiment that turned on them (ironic, isn’t it?)  

Since Palpy is dead, no War! But also no clones :(

Sifo-Dyas does not get mortally paranoid since no war is happening!

Him and Dooku get to be two old men in love.

Q’Tark, on one of her visits to her tribe on Tatooine, finds Anakin when he is 2 months old, too little to get his slave chip implanted, and so Shmi is able to give him to the Jedi.

When the Nightsisters gave Asajj away (like in canon) they also gave Maul with her. But their ship was intercepted by the Jedi, who saved them from the criminal and brought them to the Temple.

Reva Sevander becomes the second Padawan of Obi-wan  

The Disaster Lineage is less of a disaster, and they’re all fine!

Anakin becomes Obi’s Padawan at 13, and gets knighted at 25 instead of 19.

So Ahsoka becomes Plo Koon’s Padawan.

Maul becomes Mace’s Padawan.

Ezra is still Kanan/Caleb’s Padawan.

Them, Depa, Maul, Mace and Cyslin (Mace’s master) all get together to drink tea and chat every two weeks.

Ahsoka eventually becomes Grandmaster of the Order when she’s 130 (I like the idea of Togrutas living for a long time)

BARRISS IS FINE AND IS A HEALER AND IS A RESPECTED MEMBER OF THE ORDER AND KISSES AHSOKA AND HAS HER OWN PADAWAN AND–

Ahsoka also gets a Padawan, and she gets to be the wise and crazy master she deserves to be

Mafia AU - A Sunny Family Name

I was thinking about the Mafia AU and I remembered a detail that slipped my mind in my most recent posts for it. In the SunnyTime Town AU, and in the trading cards for the SunnyTime Crew Show, Jack's parents actually have surnames. Heck, they even have an entire family tree!

Since the SunnyTime Town AU and its clowns play important roles in the Mafia AU, it's only right that I use the proper family name. The Blouins are one of the biggest crime boss families in St. Valen's, with a long and shady history. Jack Blouin is the current head of both their legitimate business and their less than shady dealings.

Marceau Blouin has been in the business of committing international crimes for a long time. He has quite a few rumors about him, but few dare to speak badly of him.

Lucy Connolly, who still uses her maiden name, is very well known in the business world for her bubbly and friendly personality. She is the brains behind their family friendly front facing business. Between her and Marceau, they practically took over the city.

While the parents have stepped back from being in charge, Lucy and Marceau do help out from time to time. You never truly leave the family after all.

Speaking of family members, Caleb Connolly, the estranged brother of Lucy, tries to keep his distance from his sister after he realized just how deep and dark this new life she built for herself with Marceau was. She used to be such a good girl, and he always tried to protect her, keep her from getting into trouble and straying down the wrong path
