I am ashamed at the fact that I’ve written nothing new here, sorry. So as usual I come bearing book recs for people who want to read or are thinking about writing Pistols stuff…not to get overly political on main, but I’m looking to piss off John Lydon (he’s not Johnny Rotten, sorry, that was a mistake a long long long time ago, we’re pretending it didn’t happen) by making the Pistols as known as possible, given a certain thing I’ve found out too late as to his presidential proclivities *Drumpf* - if you didn’t get that, just Google it. If you got it and didn’t like it, goodbye!
Anyway. Sorry for the rant, I just had to, my fingers flew off their own accord!
I’ve read a couple more interesting books about punk and the Pistols, so I thought I’d make a list and because some are hard to fight, also link dls for them…not just yet ‘cause I’m on my phone, but very very soon, if anyone reading is interested.
- Please Kill Me by Legs McNeil - I liked this one a lot, it’s an oral history, there are even comments by Nancy (and maybe Sid? Though so many people talk in it, it’s scrambled my brain) there’s so much in it, much beyond the Pistols, into The New York Dolls, and the Warhol people, and so on. It’s cool if you’re into it, and patient.
- Inside the Dream Palace by Sherril P-Something - this one’s less about the Pistols and more about the Chelsea Hotel…wish someone would write one of these about the Cecil…next time around the Ferris wheel I’m gonna skip the introduction ‘cause the author’s pompous shows its face…all the way from its beginning to just about now. Downside: if you don’t live in New York or close to it, prepare yourself to be sad you can’t go visit it before they destroy what’s left of it by turning it into luxury condos. It’s a really interesting story, especially given it’s conception and the purpose the creators envisioned, even if that makes it sad that it’s gone so sideways…like everything else.
- Sid and Nancy by Alex Cox - this is basically the movie’s script with a couple of comments inserted in the beginning. There’s also a couple of scenes that didn’t make it into the movie, I think? I need to watch it again.
- Sid’s Way - I can’t remember the author’s name right now but I broke my back and Google trying to track this one down…I’ll be including it shamelessly in dl. I haven’t read it yet but stuff about Sid’s so hard to find digital I don’t even care.
- The England’s Dreaming Tapes - this one was also costly to obtain, it’ll be where the others will. It’s basically the written out interviews with people that Jon Savage did for England’s Dreaming…there’s a lot of interesting stuff in there, even more interesting than England’s Dreaming itself…I wish every oral history had this, I’d die and go to hell in eternal happiness.
There’s probably more, but I’m running out of brain-ink. I’ll reblog this with dl once it’s ready? Though not sure anyone will be interested.
If you are interested and have recs of books or movies or articles, anything punk, please blast away, anonymously or any way you like! Could always use more of everything, especially if it’s punk.

Punk band posters are known for their DIY aesthetic, often featuring bold, hand-drawn graphics, rebellious imagery, and raw typography.
They capture the energy and ethos of the punk movement. Bands like the Sex Pistols and Ramones had iconic posters, helping create the visual language of punk.
These posters were often past around locally, promoting underground shows and creating a sense of community within the punk scene.
Today, vintage punk posters are collectibles, showcasing the artistic and rebellious spirit of the era, and this is what I wanted to create with my poster. I wanted this to feel like a relic of the past, a poster that the band might have used to promote there music.
I added the Spotify codes to a couple Sex Pistol songs, and to bring punk into the modern world. To show that punk is not dead

Den Browne has finally released his decades-in- the-making book, Padlocks, about living with Sid and Nancy. He kindly sent me a pre-order. It will be up on Amazon soon-ish, and I will post when it is. I won't be posting huge snippets, as I'd like him to make some money from it first. The best part for me is that he knew Nancy better than Sid and is a big Nancy advocate. I'll post some things once in a while!

the fact that ade genuinely loves punk music and apparently changed his "formerly 'straight'" style and bought "tight, striped ‘punk-style’ trousers" at the same time when lise, rik and ben were writing tyo (according to alexei sayle's autobio) is so cute to me for some reason… like rik (with lise and ben) wrote that character sooo tailor made and perfect for his best friend to play

Reading stories of betrayal, despair & friendships going south from “Wally …Did You No Wrong” by Ron Evans:
some of you may -or may not- be familiar with the sad & obscure tale of the lost Sex Pistol, Wally Nightingale, Steve Jones & Paul Cook’s schoolmate who actually put the initial pre-Pistols band together as a trio & provided the classy rehearsal space (“Riverside” studios in Hammersmith, London, where the boys could sneak in since Wally’s dad worked there as an electrician) but got the boot because Malcolm McLaren had decided he didn’t fit the image he had envisioned for the band, being the geeky & uncool kid with the ‘old man’s glasses’. He was completely erased from the Pistols history in a heartbeat, as though he had never existed and the rest is known R’n’R history.
Wally’s story remains a fairytale gone bad, one in which the dishonest get all the glory while the good guy is left with bollocks, and Ron’s book is so rich in first-hand feedback and so well written that sometimes it’s hard not to actually see the narrative played in your head as a scene from a movie that hasn’t been filmed yet. Like the heartbreaking part where Wally’s pals come to his parents’ house, after he was ousted from his own band, to get all the gear that he kept in his bedroom: guitars, acoustics, amps, saxophones, foot controls and harmonicas that had been nicked throughout the band’s lifespan. Wally had been gutted but he managed to keep it all in with dignity (he was such a lovely bloke that he even went for a drink with his ‘former’ bandmates that same night after he got the axe) and when they came with a van to move the gear, he dutifully even helped them to unplug and pack everything up, carefully putting everything in their cases, while his mum and dad silently stood in the hallway, till his mum broke into tears and had to be hurried into the living room while shouting that they owed Wally:
“I could hear her crying as I went back upstairs to say goodbye to Wally. His bedroom door was ajar and I looked through the gap. All I could see was that second-hand Les Pau copy he’d bought in order to start the band sitting on its stand, and Wally sitting on his bed crying”, says his schoolmate Steve Hayes.
Needless to say that the late Wally Nightingale is my all-time favorite R’n’R anti-hero, the most underrated figure in the entire history of punk & the undisputed champion of punk rock underdogs, and Ron Evans, his younger schoolmate/neighbor/friend/bandmate in Key West -the band Wally Nightingale played after the Sex Pistols- has done an excellent job in documenting Wally’s tragic path to self-destruction. You can order the book from his site: https://www.ronevans.rocks/, as well as his cool music, which you can also enjoy on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1z5w6O0737uoAZutq48mrn

Why does John Lydon have to be like that? I hate him now, but I sort of find him fascinating when he was young and kinda cute, so I can't not hate him as much as I would like.
i understand, anon. ive got pretty much the same exact feelings
but smth i keep in mind is that hes changed. that means he previously had pretty damn good takes on things. personally i like what he said when asked about the national front
a lot of punks from the first generation have changed for the extreme worse as theyve gotten older. captain sensible of the damned and exene from x being just two. but that doesnt mean that they were always like that. it doesnt suddenly erase the good things they did and said. sometimes ppl just get stupid. it happens. we've all got a family member who spouts the same shit
personally i think lydon was and is a better man then most rockstars are. its a low bar to clear but many musicians trip over it including punk musicians. so shout out to lydon for always hating that child molester cunt johnny thunders and speaking up about jimmy saville, another child molester, when everyone else was too chicken shit to do the same. i respect him a lot more then i respect the clash who worked with allen ginsberg the outspoken NAMBLA member (until someone can prove to me that ginsberg wasnt open about being with NAMBLA when he worked with the clash i will always hold this shit against them)
anyway i really dont think theres a point in hating the past version of someone for who they are in the present. lydon was a good kid. not perfect but he had his heart in the right place. i like this feature vivien goldman did on him in 1978
maybe im too sympathetic but honestly i dont really care. theres worse shit going on for me to worry about then if im giving a guy who's present day self i barely think about too much grace

Photo shoot!!!!
One of my friends modelled my shirt I made for me in the smoking area of the school. This was the perfect place to do it with all the graffiti.
I was going for an editorial look with my model, with grungy, smokey makeup. Punk makeup is fearless and unconventional. It boldly defies beauty norms and inspired me to experiment with vivid colours and graphic lines. Embracing the anti establishment ethos of punk culture.

I don't care about if what Prince Harry is saying is too personal or out of pocket, or if he's a good guy or not. I just like seeing British people angry.
