(Lucky Cute meet at the mall!)
The mall was dead. Or, well, practically dead. Technically it was still open, and some people still went there, but it was mostly empty. You didn't really mind. You mostly came here to walk. It was air-conditioned, pretty quiet, and you could stop and use all the calories you'd burned at the food court when you got tired.
You also came here for one other thing--the Lego store! This mall had the only Lego store in your state. You loved the connecting bricks, so you had to stop there at least once a month (sometimes twice, depending on how fast you finished a project). Today you were prowling the aisles looking for a challenge--something complex, something you hadn't done before. You looked at all kinds of kits, absorbed in your quest. Eventually, you reached out a hand to pull an interesting-looking one off the shelf.
A skeletal hand touched the box at the same time as yours. You pulled back in surprise. "Sorry," you said.
"Oh no," said the owner of the hand. "It was my fault. I do beg your pardon." You looked up at him. He was, unsurprisingly, a skeleton--tall and thin and dressed in a nice pinstripe suit. He smiled at you. "You take that one and I'll take the set behind it," he said.
"Thanks. But you can have this one in a minute if I don't want it," you said. "I'm just looking right now."
"Ah, I see. Thank you." He stepped back to wait. "What exactly are you looking for?" he asked.
You shrugged. "Not sure. Something I haven't done before. Something that'll look good on my shelf." You held out the box to him. "This one's not it for me, though. Here you go."
He took the box happily. "Thank you! It is exactly what I've been looking for. It will complete a set for me."
"Oh cool! So you've done all of these?" you gestured at the other sets on the shelf.
The skeleton nodded. "I have help," he said, "but yes. My cousins and I have done all but this one."
"That's so cool! Do you keep them all on display?"
"Yes. Although we had to move the collection recently. My little nephew is starting to walk and the shelf was too low. He almost ate a mini figure." He laughed and shook his head. "Would you like to see?"
"Sure!" You were always up to see other people's collections. You expected him to pull out his phone and show you pictures, but instead he pulled out his wallet and handed you a business card.
"My home address is on there," he said, "and my phone number. I'll have to ask the family before I invite you over, but if you give me a call, we can work out a time for you to visit."
"Oh...I just thought you had pictures..." You blushed a little bit.
So did the skeleton. "Oh dear," he said. "I didn't even think to show you pictures. I'm afraid I'm not very good with all this technology. Would pictures be better for you?"
"I mean, I don't mind coming over to your place," you said, still holding the business card, "but I kinda just met you." You thought for a moment. "Maybe we could hang out here today? I could help you figure out the pictures thing."
"I'd like that," the skeleton said with a bright smile. "It's always nice to make new friends." He held out his hand. "My name is Lucky."
"Hey Lucky," you said, shaking his hand, "I'm Y/N."
"Pleased to meet you."
"You too." You grinned. "Now, you wanna help me find a good challenging set?"
"I'd love to."

LEGO and Gender Play Roles
(this is a VERY long post) I saw an article today on social media by Tips & Bricks about LEGO gendered play. The article focused on a little bit of research done by the LEGO Group about how girls and boys play. (Tips & Bricks was also kind enough to make sure to mention not everyone falls into those gender binary constructs but that the research done only includes those two groups). articles (there's a third article about LEGO and gender and play that's not on their website yet): https://www.tipsandbricks.co.uk/post/1960-discussion-lego-gender-1-marketing https://www.tipsandbricks.co.uk/post/1975-discussion-lego-gender-2-colours I have a LOT of thoughts about this topic. I'm going to start with some observations of my own, as a 40+ year old woman who has been building LEGO castles most of my life. I'm a member of several LEGO online social media groups. One of which is the Brick Knights Alliance. As of this post (03 October 2023), there 44.5k members within this group. I think it's pretty safe to say that most of the posts I see and most of the comments are men. Another group is the Ladies' LEGO Lounge, with 21.4k members. The last group is the Women's Brick Initiative Members with 907.
Somewhere in early May 2022, I heard rumors about the new LEGO castle supposed to be released in the summer of 2022. I remember being SO. EXCITED. about this. I instantly posted to the group, hoping that others would be just as excited to talk about the new castle. Instead, I found myself besieged by trolls. I can't find the post anymore which means either I deleted it so I wouldn't have to see people's horrible comments anymore or the admins deleted it as a "confrontational" post. But I keenly remember the disgust from some of the men over the LEGO Group bowing to "woke libtards" and how women couldn't be warriors, knights, or most definitely not queens. It was a really rough and unpleasant series of comments. On 18 June 2022, I posted about the first officially revealed pictures for set 10305: the Lion Knights' Castle, set to arrive on shelves 01 August 2022. My caption was simple and 416 people within the group liked or loved my post and seven people commented with their own versions of excitement. On 31 October 2022, I posted a picture of some of the knights I intended to populate with my Pink Castle Defense at BrickCon 2023. I used four of the bright light blue "Avatar" horses and put wings on them to be Pegasi. Most of the torsos for my warriors were the pink crown knights from the Collectible Minifigure series 24, but a few were other medium blue knights. 114 people liked or loved that post. One of the 14 comments said the blue pegasi were Avatar animals, not horses. And it's that kind of lack of imagination which just makes me sad most of the time. And now we're caught up with mostly present day. On 08 September 2023, I posted a picture of my Pink Castle Defense as it was displayed at BrickCon 2023 in Bellevue, Washington. The Pink Castle Defense is simply the Lion Knights' Castle made out of mostly dark pink LEGO with other bright colors. I posted this exact same picture in three different online social media places. My caption read: "BrickCon 2023 in Bellevue, Washington! It's been about eight months of ordering parts, digging for parts, and generally working to build this, but it was absolutely worth it! This is the LEGO 10305 Lion Knights' Castle built in dark pink on a butter yellow moat, with an all-women army defending the castle against the invading skeletons. This is my first ever LEGO display." The Brick Knights Alliance: 41 like/love/wow and two comments, which said: "Finally. No ugly gray. Where's Evilyn and Skeletor?" and "Are the skeletons male?" The Ladies LEGO Lounge: 50 like/love and 40 comments, all extremely supportive. As an example, the Lion Knights' Castle (10305) from August 2022 featured a warrior queen and half the minifigures had lipstick (clearing showing they are women). HALF of the knights and warriors in the castle are women! I was extremely excited about this. But then I witnessed a significant number of men in the castle groups complaining about this. Then I had to witness the castle's LEGO queen get murdered violently in most of the castle fandoms so that "A Proper Ruler" (read: male king) could reclaim his rightful throne. The latest Tips & Bricks gender discussion topic involved the different LEGO play for girls and boys. One of the comments even stated how there's so much research done on the way girls play but no one ever talks about how boys play, which tends to continue to put the responsibility on girls and women. In my own experience, I have noticed that most of the males in the LEGO spaces I occupy are constantly putting their castles at war with the other factions, while the women are definitely focused on the story and the details of world-building. But really. How much of the way genders play is caused by the very marketing which enforces the societal norms of how genders play?

IV. Symbiosis
Summary: “Since you’ve been caught—” Fury squints, “Canoodling With The Allegedly Injured James Barnes, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone’s already halfway finished with digging you up. Forgeries. Petty theft. Grand larceny. The damn rest of the kitchen sink. So, Ranger…” The way he says it is both lazy and threatening, completely on brand and irritatingly calm.
“Here’s my suggestion: get ahead of this thing before it knocks you on your ass.”
A/N: 4.8k words. I’m a liar who lies because after 4 months of overthinking and coming up with diddly squat, here is part 4 of Trinity Epoch sans smut. I’m sorry! I’ll double your pleasure next time. xx Thank you for sticking with me, I’m so sorry it’s taken so long.
Warnings: Language. References to canon-typical violence.

Bucky stays like that a while longer, just breathing.
Your fingers trace his hair—running through the strands, over the shell of his ear, then resting briefly on his cheek. All the ways you used to with Natasha when she’d break her own heart, or maybe ways you would have liked her to have done for you when you felt like you were dying a little bit.
You feel it now: a small death in the wake of last night’s simple touches. Your body and Steve’s body curled around each other sprung something immeasurable, as if the drift flowered then and ripened beneath your skins. You bit into it. You savored its taste. You could have lived on it alone.
Everything smears together like a child’s careless hand in a mess of paints until all the brights muddle dark. A shaky breath as you work yourself into calming, trying to find coherent words while your head remains a pot of sideways soup, at best.
Bucky shifts until he’s looking up at you, nose millimeters away. His irises are just a touch more gray, a sprinkle less green. You can see Steve in him, just as he can see Steve in you and then your eyes begin to prickle, Nat’s face undulating behind the burn.
You don’t really know what you want to say. Maybe apologize, run, beg for forgiveness, grab Bucky by the shoulders and shake him until he understands that you didn’t mean it— you didn’t mean to hurt him. That you love him. That he lives inside you, too.
His ghost from the drift— the aftermath phenomena of the neural bridge when pilots take on a bit of each other’s consciousness out of the cockpit and into the world with them. Take two people with a predisposition for the drift into the cockpit into each other’s brains and they exit heightened—sharper, better—imbued with each other’s strengths and knowledge. Mind-meld long enough, deep enough, and your core endures, but you become a different beast.
When Steve’s consciousness bled into yours, so did Bucky’s. If you walked away with half of Rogers, you also got a quarter of Barnes and it only compounded worse during Polidori’s drop. Resurrecting trauma, agitating itself, making a mess of your weary soul.
You relived his amputation last night, just as fresh as you relived Nat’s death. More visceral than the first trial run, you witnessed him—felt him—torn and hoarse, clutching his shoulder as he rocked helplessly inside Orion’s chest, frayed wires sparking across his cheek and landing in his own blood. His teeth gnashing together as he tried to hold on for Steve’s sake, steering his co-pilot’s panic back on course. Terrified and agonized, but he was hellbent on making it out.
Bucky who made you laugh. Bucky who took you to dinner. Who walked with you, gave you his jacket, listened to your rambling and crying, and kissed you because you reminded him of his co-pilot, or maybe of himself.
How could you not love him, after all this?
Armageddon slows for nothing though, and before the first letter of his name can fall out recklessly from your mouth, three precise thumps jostles it back in.
Steve’s voice is muffled through heavy steel. “You in there?”
The door slides open with a tremulous croak but neither of you bother to separate. Nothing seems to matter now.
“Buck...” Steve looks from one raw face to the other, stepping forward and reaching out. He grasps Bucky’s hand. “We should talk—” he closes his mouth into a thin line, shoulders slumping heavily before letting go. “I’m sorry. Later. Shit’s hit the fan.”
-
The office is stagnant air full of questions but other than the squeak of the marshal leaning back in his chair, nobody makes a sound.
Fury untucks a finger from the crook of his elbow before pointing it between your eyes.
“Culpability.”
Across the room, you flinch in his crosshairs. Standing apart from them, you’re partially slack against one of many steel filing cabinets, using it to prop yourself up in case your knees might give out as vertigo descends.
It’s been a lot to take in. Everything— the night, the morning, emotionally, mentally, physically. The hull is a steel cage, and pilots are well armored, but you’re still hooked up to the robot enduring damage, taking hits at barely .0001 percent, but taking it all the same. You’re bruised up good beneath your clothes— Polidori’s claws leaving four tender imprints of a scratch to Orion’s right shoulder. Your shoulder. Steve’s shoulder.
To your right, he shifts. A tiny hint of pain streaks over his expression before it falls serene again, fixed on Fury.
“Since you’ve been caught—” the marshal squints, “Canoodling With The Allegedly Injured James Barnes, I wouldn’t be surprised if someone’s already halfway finished with digging you up. Forgeries, petty theft, grand larceny, the damn rest of the kitchen sink. So, Ranger…” The way he says it is both lazy and threatening, completely on brand and irritatingly calm.
“Here’s my suggestion: get ahead of this thing before it knocks you on your ass.”
This thing, being any story a 13-year old kid with two thumbs and a twitter account can spin between now and when you let Pepper Potts spin it for you first. There’s not a lot imagination can’t conjure to fill in the blank pixelated space between Bucky standing on the curb and you right behind him wearing his cap and jacket. Not to mention that once speculation goes live, it starts sprouting all sorts of appendages with minds of their own, and no matter how diligently you might cut one off, two would only sprout in its place.
The marshal stands up and takes heavy steps before turning the corner of his desk, absently tapping a pile of folders together like they’re not already in a perfect column. He slips a manila folder out from the stack and it becomes obvious that his suggestion is just buildup to some other type of impetus.
When you open the file up under his sharp gaze, you feel the blood drain from your face and possibly from your entire body.
The bullet he aimed between your eyes hits home. Cue your brains blowing out slow. Impetus met.
“Jesus Christ,” Bucky appears over your shoulder, staring at the same grainy photocopied document. “You can’t be serious.”
“Do I look like I make a lot of jokes?” Fury leans forward, pointer curving over the top edge, tapping emphatically one, two, three times, even waving it back and forth in front of your unseeing eyes. “I’ve got a good contact inside the PPDC who risked a lot to get this out. They’re just plans for now, dogeared behind other pages, but don’t doubt the Corps’ cowardice for a second. The second this program looks like it might not hold up, they’ll turn their efforts there.”
You’re gone. Trapped between the lines, vehemently scanning the page, reading the same words over and over until they no longer make sense. But it’s not like they made any sense in the first place.
ANTI-KAIJU WALL: CONSTRUCTION AGENDA. SPRING 2020.
The conception of a perimeter stretching around the Pan Pacific—North and Central America, East and South Asia to isolate emerging Kaiju. It’s a fetal skeleton at most, the roughest of outlines for a plan, and truthfully, it’s no plan at all.
It’s shameful. It’s shit.
The so-called Wall of Life implies the portending death of the Program—of all Shatterdomes and Jaegers. It implies no support, no funding, and no repairs. No Kodiak. No juniors. No future.
Back and forth, you’re still desperately inspecting as if the words might shift into a new message, maybe one that didn’t spell out certain extinction, but despair is rippling across your face. Bi Fang and Polidori had wings, and they were only Category II. Bi Fang massacred one of the best pilots you’ve ever known—and it was only a Category II. Any higher and they’d blow through that wall like a ribbon of wet toilet paper.
Hysteria creeps up at the mere thought of it, fear stubbornly lodging itself in your throat. Nuclear-powered automata—the only proven defense against the terror of massive alien attacks are being dismantled in favor of steel rods and cinderblocks. They might as well build it out of Legos.
Anti-Kaiju Wall. A string of ants meeting a boot.
You’re panting softly, tongue swollen in your mouth, shaking with equal parts terror and rage, on the verge of breaking into inappropriate laughter and yelling.
“What—what do they expect?” You croak, “The breach opens, the fucking thing comes out, sees a fence, and what—they think it’s—going to crawl back in…?”
“Hey, calm down,” Bucky curls his fingers around your elbow. His hand and its black plates are peering at you, purring, dull gold bands threading at the knuckles. For a second, the prosthetic disappears. For a second, he’s blood red again.
“Hey!” Bucky grips tightly when you sway. “I’m fine! Don’t—don’t.” Steve’s jaw is set firmly on your other side, arms crossed so severely his biceps bulge with the strain.
“Nick,” He’s abruptly brusque as he eases the file from your grip. “Give us a minute.”
“You’re in my office.” But the marshal’s words hold no bite. He’s already won; he knows. Cornered again, he’s got you same as before in Red Cloud.
You get the gist: play out your redemption arc and come clean with your record. Win over the public, hoard all the additional support and funding you can because you’ll need every goddamn cent of it when the PPDC rips it away. The gossip. The photos. The headlines. It’s the perfect opportunity for a few hundred million when the media is putting a magnifying glass on your presence in Hong Kong.
Duty. Duty. Duty.
You’re just one small part of this colossal puzzle—a negligible smear of guts across the battlefield trying to keep the rest of the pieces together while the PPDC sits in their panic rooms throttling the entire fucking thing.
Fury steps to the cabinet and slides the file back in its place, keeping the illusion of it being just another unremarkable envelope in a row of hundreds of others. The metal drawer shuts with a clang, housing the most damning piece of information you’ve ever seen. His tact aside, you know he would never show you his hand like this if it wasn’t completely necessary—or pertinent.
Steve was right, you understand now.
The world owes you. And it owns you.
-
The next six—seven?—hours scatter like pulled teeth with your head spinning like a top the entire way. Pepper had been outside the door for the conversation, waiting on standby to whisk you off for princess lessons. Having already (and correctly) predicted your compliance, Fury scheduled an interview for precisely at nine. Then you were off, towed along by Miss Potts and her hasty strut.
You try to find perspective, reminding yourself that you’ve successfully gone toe-to-toe with the Empire State Building with fifteen rows of teeth seven fucking times and come out on the other side alive and if not in one whole piece, then at least 2-3 relatively serviceable pieces. You’re functional. A little damaged, but fine enough. But there’s also the fact that you’d just hopped out of Orion not even 24 hours ago coupled with how you’re suddenly in the middle of something that feels less like a confused love triangle and more like divine providence at the end of the world.
Fuck. No time to think about it now. The human brain is not programmed to multitask, and you’re hanging on by a mere thread. You prioritize making it through the night just as alive as you can make it out of a drop. Just a couple of hours and you can rest. Just a couple more.
After what felt like an eternity and a half of simulating Q&A, practicing your posture, smiling into a mirror, and one horrible limo ride where you stared dead-eyed out the window—Steve and Bucky’s steely gazes after you—the building finally comes into view.
Hair. Makeup. Wardrobe. You wear pants. You smile for the camera. You don’t stand in the middle of the group photo.
8:55 and time halts to a near stop. You can hear your heart in your throat, or in your skull. Your eyes feel switched from their sockets, or stomach rotated 30 degrees. Someone fixes your mic wire, your blouse collar, asking you to turn just a little over there. Three cameras are pointed to capture every angle, punitive red dots angry and glaring.
A live broadcast was agreed upon to ensure the least amount of potential edits and skews, as well as the charmingly quaint idea that it’s unscripted. The rub, therein, lies upon the burden of poise and a flawless performance. You rehearsed lines until your jaw felt like it was coming unhinged. Then you did it again.
Everything requires precision, and you keep that in mind with your hand on the glass of Dom Perignon being constantly refilled. An amicable gesture by the hosts, but their intentions are cunning: loose lips sink ships, and they’re betting on yours to sink the S.S. Orion Bravo.
Out of view, the translator sits with her legs crossed, listening to the questions before turning the words over in English.
You take a sip of champagne and it fires off like a gunshot—Cantonese and English in rapid-fire verses.
<2017 was a fateful year for both the Jaeger Program and the world. Beloved pilot Natasha Romanoff sacrificed her life to protect Alaska’s coast in a final battle against Category 2 Bi Fang. Memorials dedicated to Romanoff’s efforts appeared across every nation to lament her death and celebrate her heroism. Yet, somehow, no one seemed to be asking the million-dollar question: Where is her co-pilot?>
<Two days ago, pictures were taken in Hong Kong of James Barnes and a mysterious woman. Our sources here at TVB have worked tirelessly to uncover her identity.>
<Today we have the pleasure of introducing her to everyone tuning in. This is the first time you’ve ever been in the public eye, and astonishingly, next to two of the best pilots in the Program. There are so many questions, but first, the whole world wants to know…. why keep it secret?>
The host’s open hand urges your reply.
The lights seem to turn up even brighter. Your back starts sweating. The room is about to collapse. In short, naturally—infuriatingly—you choke.
Seven hours of droning like a broken wind up toy, already knowing how to answer this question by heart, prepping yourself for the interrogation, the relentless demand to publicize your grief, to placate the people about your relationship with their heroes—and, you choke.
Bucky’s chin tilts microscopically in the corner of your line of vision. You’re fine, he’s saying, you got it. He’s strangely calm, even pleased, as you stutter involuntarily. Like he’s the first to remember an inside joke you’d long forgotten, his grin widens the longer you look at him. Steve turns next. Focus. Don’t fight the drift. The drift is silence.
And suddenly, your shoulders ease. The static in your exhausted brain slides out of your ears.
You sit up tall. You smile. It doesn’t quite feel like your smile, but, it’s a good one. You know this smile; it’s Steve’s smile. Like a seamless assembly, you fall into rhythm.
The white of his teeth slip out from between Steve’s lips. He notices too.
You calmly recite the introductory speech you’d been practicing for the last two hours, feeling out your new voice, borrowing from his bearing—deeper, smoother, certain. The major points get run through: your record and own personality traits keeping you from the spotlight, admitting genuinely that you’re pretty damn uncomfortable now, so they’ll have to forgive you for any slip ups. It goes over well, as Pepper predicted; “candid” blunders made Rangers human—made them likable.
When the subject of Anchorage rolls back around, you can practically feel Steve’s jaw bulging preemptively. You graze his foot with yours as a warning to back off.
<It’s remarkable that you were able to bring the Jaeger back to shore, there has been only one pilot who was capable of that—>
“I’m thankful to have had Stacker Pentecost as my mentor. I owe so much of my resilience to him. It was difficult, but simply put, I had no other choice. I feel so lucky to have survived it.”
<Natasha Romanoff-->
“She was one of a kind.”
<Was it hard to—>
“Yes.”
The host clears his throat, visibly awkward that you’re being so terse, but taking the hint until  Bucky turns into the spotlight, that divorced happiness he’s so skilled at beaming into the lenses.
Steve easily picks it up, steering the conversation where he wants it to go. He’s disarmingly sincere as he relays the process of Bucky’s injury, replacement, apprehension, and finally success
His bright blue eyes flicker secret messages and you decipher them all.
“The connection was like—"
There’s a bell chiming in your ears. Bright, crisp chirps of it, cutting through laughter and bickering. You taste summer air in your throat, Bucky’s hair flying in the wind. “Riding a bike…”
“Exactly. New bike, same motions, and it worked. It was great. We learned things about each other. Some good, some bad—”
Crosshatched pencil lines of their shared apartment. Smudges of charcoal in a sketchbook. “He’s an unbelievable artist, but—”
“No— don’t say it!”
Bucky smothering a small kitchen fire. Steve throwing a damp rag on him in a frantic attempt to assist. Your voice is bubbling out gleefully. “—an awful cook!”
“It’s true,” Bucky smugly chimes in. “The boy can’t boil water. Breakfast eggs come with shells every time.” You can taste the grit between your molars—crushed grains inside an overdone omelet, Bucky spitting out spinach and feta cheese.
“Oh my god,” you sputter into a sip of champagne. “It’s so bad.”
“Do you see what I have to deal with? Two people knowing my secrets. Two.”
<Fantastic! Already we can see a great friendship here—>
It seems congratulatory, but there’s determination to drive into scandalous territory, poking at any rumor to lance and leak. A sly smile crosses his face as his assistant shows photos of you and Bucky in the city, but the lurid suggestion only gets shrugged off. “We’d gone out for dinner. It was the first time I’d left the Shatterdome after Seigehook and I needed moral support.”
<The jacket tells a different story.>
“I’d give you my jacket if you looked cold.”
<Steve, Ophelia isn’t concerned that your new co-pilot is a woman?>
“No, absolutely not. ‘Lia’s the first person to support Orion—and the loudest. I don’t know what I’d do without her. You don’t have her behind the curtain, too, do you?”
<Well, what about personal memories? Won’t you know everything about each other…? Private things?>
“Sure, but what pair of pilots don’t? You got twins and siblings, not just married couples. Look, here’s the thing: the neural bridge doesn’t take you to a filing cabinet. It’s not open like that. It’s more like—somebody help me—” Bucky snaps his fingers your way, “—what’d you call it the other day?”
You didn’t, but you say, “A dream?”
“Right, a dream. If you think about it, you can pull on it, but if it’s not in the forefront of your mind. It’s a non-issue.”
“We’re all adults here,” Steve confirms.
<Do you plan for James to return to the cockpit? Is that the goal? James, how do you feel about all of this, taken away from your own Jaeger?>
Steve’s palm faces outward as if keeping the host at bay— or, you think, keeping himself at bay.  “Hold on. This isn’t about replacement. Nobody is framing it like a nail in the coffin—we’re in the interim of a period of time, readjusting. Short of death, nothing is going to take him away.”
Sunlight. Recruitment. Ice baths. Training until they had to carry each other to bed. Your eyes flutter, head pilfering through the memories like instinct.
“James is still Orion’s co-pilot.” You agree. Apprehension. Dread. Terror. Confidence in each other even when they didn’t believe in themselves. They were together. Nothing else mattered. “Steve’s co-pilot.”
The tight look on his face is temporarily wiped as he beams proudly, “He’s my Bucky. Always has been, always will be.” He claps Bucky on the back twice and each thump’s echo bounces its way into your chest.
Bucky bristles and sputters, but a healthy pink dusts its way across his cheeks, “Don’t embarrass me, Rogers.”
“Are you blushing?” You tease, elated.
“Don’t you start, either.”
<Well… this is very wonderful. Is there a possibility we’ll be seeing a triple-piloted machine? The Tang triplets have been in talks for a new model.>
Steve shakes his head. “We haven’t discussed it yet. Nothing’s off the table, by any means. Just not priority at the moment.”
<What is priority at the moment?>
“Normalcy, as much as we can get in the middle of all this.” Bucky holds out his hand, closing it into a fist, letting the camera zoom in. “We’re… still working through all the kinks, balancing the personal and global.”
He flexes his fingers, letting the microphones pick up the drone of machinery, but his meaning is another secret. Clicking Morse codes of well-oiled obsidian plates purring two names. You’ve stopped listening to everything but the echo incandescent in your heart.
You down your glass.
-
Champagne tipsy, you try not to stagger through the lobby. The doorman nods toward the limousine parked faithfully by the curb.
The barrage of questions slowed after it became apparent that there would be no sensationalist headline. There was attention to Bucky’s arm, his handsome face, of course, before the banter quickly devolved into entertaining frivolous sidebar queries. Five flutes bubbled down your throat and by the end of it, you no longer wanted to grab camera one and shake the shit out of it, anger whittled down to a dull hum of annoyance.
Thirty million stupid dollars for inane reels of:
What’s in your purse? What do you eat? How do you stay feminine in a Shatterdome full of testosterone—have you tried any K-beauty skincare routines? Do you have anyone special in your life?
Bucky went in, then, leaning forward until he was nearly rocking off and leveled his glare. You know she’s on the other side of the same robot, buckled up into a ninety-pound rig steering two-hundred tons of—
It took a miracle (see: Steve’s firm hand discreetly on the back of Bucky’s neck and Pepper drawing a sharp line across her throat) to effectively halt the derailing train.
“I can’t believe,” Bucky grouses now, opening the door and waving the driver back to the front. “Those goddamn questions.”
“Does wiping my sweaty face with my even sweatier shirt count as skincare? What’s the K stand for?”
Bucky smacks the back of your head with one hand, other clumsily yanking the door open with the other. “For Korean—have you been living under a rock? Just—get in the fuckin’ car.”
You slap him back. “Quit it, you invalid.”
“Invalid? I’ll show you a fuckin’—Steve, did you hear—”
“Both of you, get in the car.”
And you shriek, scrambling in and yanking Bucky along by the scruff of his jacket. Mischief courses beneath your skin, encouraged by clever alcohol, now fully buzzed its way to every extremity.
Still giggling and leaning into the thrill of it, you slump over the smooth plastic molding of the door and press your face against the tinted window. It’s a cool reprieve on your warmed cheek, frosting when your temperature meet the glass. Bucky’s easy Cantonese, albeit slurred, is requesting a ride back to base. His hand has found its way into yours, fingers laced large and warm, clasping tight before he lets go.
“Haven’t had a drink—oh--” you murmur, catching yourself as the wheels shift.
“Since Red Cloud.”
“Outta my head, Rogers.”
“Says the person who kept finishing my sentences during that interview.”
“It’s the champagne! It makes me—“
“Stupid?”
“You’re an ass, Barnes.” But you’re laughing at him, at the way he’s smirking— cheeks gone ruddy. Both of them, open beside each other, heads inclined intuitively together. It makes you ache to see—to experience again after disruption—Rogers and Barnes. Barnes and Rogers. Perfectly fitted.
The partition slides up. The sunroof tugs open with a whistling draft.
Hong Kong’s lights are vivid—too much to properly see the extent of space’s beauty, but there are a few twinkles you’re able to make out in the moonless night as light poles and skyscraper tips whiz overhead. They’re brighter than most, simple to spot patterns in the dark.
“Orion’s out tonight,” you mutter, moving to catch the line of its belt, “Look. Beneath his feet is Lepus, the hare, pursued for all time.” From across, Steve follows, also looking to find their hero as your hair rustles wildly, making a hurricane against your ear.
“Don’t be so fucking dramatic,” Bucky scolds. He’s annoyed and comfortable on leather, ankle crossed over opposite knee. “You’re not being chased by anything. Besides, if you were a constellation, you’d probably be the soup ladle.”
You laugh. He’s always playing the part of a stoic so well. “Hey, I’ll have you know the Little Dipper’s got the north star in it. That soup ladle’s gonna be the thing that gets you home when you’re lost.”
The tone shifts—time dragging its pace as you look at them in wonder. The city’s overripe heaviness of the blows through, making goosebumps on heated skin.
“Buck,” Steve says, and Bucky slips his jacket from his shoulders to slide over yours. He tugs the lapels down like he’s trying to keep you on earth and your hands clasp on his wrists for a second before you let go. They’re both sitting up now, watching your bleary gaze unfocus.
Steve and Bucky oscillate in front of your eyes, their lines blurring until it doesn’t really matter who you’re looking at—until they become one. So easy, like this, just them like two sides of the same coin, belonging so seamlessly to each other.
“Sorry,” you blurt in shame, “I feel like I fucked it up. Ruined a thing that wasn’t mine to ruin.”
“Think you put it together,” Steve responds quietly, and the simplicity of his statement throws you off. “We found our way.”
“Soup ladle,” Bucky jokes.
“But, aren’t we just trading one war for another? World peace only made it because of monsters.” Unspoken questions hidden inside large-scale metaphors— symbiosis could only be achieved under the lies of other relationships. Whatever this would be, it wouldn’t be accepted. Steve still retains his supermodel girlfriend and you and Bucky dutifully fall in line for your own packaged little PR lies.
He shrugs. “I’m fine with losing a few battles in this war, but Orion’s got a good track record, doesn’t it, Buck?”
“Twelve— thirteen kills, sweetheart.” Bucky’s grin is lopsided. “Don’t forget you made that happen.”
“Thirteen’s an unlucky number.”
“Feels lucky to me.” Steve’s hand wraps around your wrist, thumb resting on your pulse. He taps your skin, looking genuinely apologetic. “Listen, all I can do is ask— and I’m not good at asking for things. I just want to make them happen.” A quick glance at the watch under his cuffs and he tugs at your arm like a lost child, “So, before we get back… will you come here?”
As he said, he’s not really asking. More like reaching his will out to you, finding you when you’re caught in the undertow and pulling you back to safety. To them. Okay. Okay.
Your footing slips, but they take your hands and turn you carefully, letting you settle in between. Bucky hums a low sound, fingers curling around your waist. Steve does the same to the opposite side and you feel both torn apart and held together by them.
Steve nuzzles your neck, hot on your skin.
“She was wrong,” he whispers, barely audible over the sound of your rising breath, “You know that? She was wrong, and I was wrong. I thought it couldn’t happen—thought I had other priorities, other things to manage and settle and save and... I lost sight of what matters most. But I’m gonna really fix it this time—I’m gonna do it right by you.”
He looks to Bucky, pained and relieved, “Both of you, I promise.” He takes Bucky’s hand in his own and holds it to his mouth, kissing his knuckles, his palm, saying softly, “I love you, Buck. I’m sorry you waited so long.”
“Hey stupid,” Bucky says shakily when your chin starts to quiver at the sight of them. He’s sniffling and swallowing his syllables, unable to stop himself from staring at Steve’s face in his hand, how Steve kisses the blue pulse in his wrist. “Ain’t you—too pretty to cry?”
The rocking of the car flattens out as Steve gently presses his lips to yours, letting the trail of salt bursting down your cheek into his mouth. He moves to the line of your jaw, promising,
It’s okay. I got you. Nothing’s gonna hurt you anymore.
They kiss you and the world turns itself right.
They kiss you and then they kiss each other. Again and again and again.

OOh ooh for the ask meme, if youre bored could you do ALL the questions for kite and Razor ??? or whichever are most interesting to you if you don't want to do that many !! no pressure. -hunterxloser
@hunterxloser okay since I am Still working on Kite’s but finished Razor’s I’m just gonna put it here first since they’re both long
cw: child abuse, death, child death, violence, murder, burns, child neglect, beating
Razor
1. Their physical weak spots
not entirely sure what this means. He doesn’t have great peripheral vision so he relies on hearing and his amazing memory + details of angles/curvature to guess where things will go (or has his 14 Devils see for him)
2. Their emotional/moral weak spots
he decided ages ago that lives weren’t that important since he saw them so disregarded; not entirely over that world view
getting called by his name/viewed as a human makes him very likely to lean into doing something he might not think is entirely righteousness
views the world a bit as a game since he lives in one
his Achilles’ heel is definitely love
3. Scars or painful spots
he has scars on his back from being beaten/whipped when he was younger for some crimes. He has two pretty bad burns (one high on his leg, the other on his stomach) from dropping an oil lamp
4. Best places to kiss on their body
(I’m assuming this means besides their face) so ears, chest
5. Guilty pleasures
celebrity gossip even though he barely knows who any of them are he thinks it’s funny to keep up with rich people who’ve visited Greed Island and sometimes sending in photos from their surveillance cameras or little rude stories to bother them if they were rude to him
cotton candy ice cream
playing with legos (he’s not guilty about it though)
6. Their vices (physical or emotional)
he smokes
catches himself lying just out of habit. He doesn’t usually correct himself either
7. Their tickle spots
he’s ridiculously proud of not being ticklish (the only things that would really bother him would be like a feather under chin or on feet)
8. Bad memories/experiences
too many
ones that stand out: shooting someone in the knee and watching them go down when he was quite young, because he could see parts of their bone. He screamed so Razor shot him in the head to kill him, and that was the first murder he committed
the oil lamp incident
being severely beaten as a child for theft and such
he was also kicked/punched sometimes just for amusement
and smacked/hit if he messed up anything or wasn’t fast enough listening to orders
when he was a kid he knew another kid who died of an allergic reaction to a bee and another who died from drinking contaminated water. No one cared that much though since they were rid of a mouth to feed
9. Humiliating memories
again too many
being called names
being hit and too small to fight back
he was mocked, teased, and tormented
10. Fears/phobias
terrified of losing his strength and position (he knows how cruel and fucked up the world is)
that no one will ever view him as more than a brute
11. Bad or petty habits
resting his elbows on the top of short people’s heads
he’s not that petty, but he does sometimes send in the unflattering pictures of celebs he met who were rude
picks List up for fun
12. Grudges and vendettas
he hasn’t got any he can do anything about
there are some people he killed, and he’s glad they’re dead
13. What gets them flustered
being touched gently, sincere eye contact, his name
14. Ingrained habits/forces of habit
lying
he punches his palm with his fist a lot
claps when he makes a point in speech
swings his arms/does stretches all the time
15. What it takes to make them cry
a lot. Like a lot a lot. He turned all his sorrow into anger ages ago and it’s hard to undo
16.  Dark secrets/’skeletons in the closet’
not much are secrets. His crimes were pretty well known. He strangled a fifteen year old boy to death once for hurting a small child. He wasn’t found for that crime because no one could figure out a motive
17. Regrets
he sometimes wishes that he hadn’t let his pain make him so angry and bitter and selfish, that he could have become a better person by being gentler
18. Things they’ll never admit
that he sometimes wishes that he hadn’t let his pain make him so angry and bitter and selfish, that he could have become a better person by being gentler
19. People they’ve hurt or indirectly killed, and how it affected them
he killed a lot of people. I think I covered the ones I’ve thought about in other questions. he never killed anyone indirectly. he’s a bit bothered by some of the people he killed since he realised when he got the death penalty how final death was, on an individual level terrifying, even if it happens every day. and that he decided he was capable of choosing who died like it was nothing for so long. because it felt like nothing, until it was was him. (some of them he doesn’t regret though.)
20. What-ifs/Alternate Timelines
if he’d been more of a ‘Robin Hood’ type person, less angry or maybe angry in a different way
21. Turning points in their life
when he hit puberty and realised how strong he was and worked on crafting it more and more
realising just how easy it was to kill
when Ging spared his life and called him Razor
seeing Kite ngl
also seeing Gon
22. People who’ve influenced them greatly
Ging, definitely
people who he saw throw around other people’s lives
everyone who hurt him
Gon
Kite, okay here’s why: when they met briefly when Ging took him to Greed Island, because he sort of saw an opposite reflection of himself in Kite (a bit of jealousy there with Kite being the person Ging takes and Razor being the person Ging leaves, but Kite is “better” than him in that way he won’t talk about because there’s no point to wish for something more, that’s life. He was a killer and Kite fixed birds’ broken wings and what the hell can you do to change it, so don’t dwell on it, it’s good the game keeps him busy, but it doesn’t keep him busy enough)
the parallels with these two mess me up omg

Book Thirty: The Dark Half
“Stark reached out, not physically, but with his mind, and seized that disappearing tail of Thad’s mental probe. In the eye of Stark’s own mind it looked like a worm, a fat white maggot deliriously stuffed with offal and decay...”
So, let me tell you about the dark half inhabiting my house... a little over a year ago, we decided to get Waverly, our beautiful golden rescue pet angel, a friend. She loved spending time with her dog cousins, and would sink into a deep depression when we’d bring her back home again. Seriously. Look at this beautiful face. She is truly an angel in dog form.
Tumblr media
So, we found a rescue beagle (my daughter’s alleged dream dog of the week).
Tumblr media
Y’all.
I was not prepared for beagle life. Biscuit Beast tore through two different cages, pooped (and smeared it!) everywhere, and chewed up everything from Legos, to Ugg boots to video game controllers. And the sight of a pom-pom on a hat makes her crazy with uncontrolled chewing fueled rage. She was an absolute menace. We tried everything from melatonin, to CBD oil, to just flat-out not leaving the house. She is a lovely, cuddly dog... but her mouth gets her in trouble every time.
And then quarantine happened. Biscuit Beast has been thrilled to have her people home with her 24/7 all day, every day. Lots of cuddles, walks around the neighborhood, and all the personal interaction a beagle could ask for. We even left on two short jaunts, and she didn’t chew anything. She received all the praise for being the best dog in the world.
And then yesterday, I walk upstairs to find this. She gnawed my copy of The Dark Half like it was a t-bone. And it made no sense. We had been home with her all day, she had a long walk around the lake, and plenty of attention. But her dark half just can’t be tamed. Oh, Biscuit Beast. To know beagles is to love them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Biscuit Beast may destroy everything she can wrap her strong little jaw around, but at least she’s not violently killing people, and threatening lives everywhere she goes, unlike George Stark in The Dark Half. I guess I’ve got that going for me?
The Dark Half was fun. It was my first time reading it, and you could almost hear Steve whispering, “Wouldn’t it be funny if Richard Bachman came to life and became my murderous alter-ego?” The author’s note actually reads, “I’m indebted to the late Richard Bachman for his help and inspiration. This novel could not have been written without him.”
It makes you wonder what the relationship between an author and his pseudonym is like. Is it dark? Does it take you in directions you don’t expect? Do you end up resenting the pseudonym for contractually forcing you to write books outside your comfort zone? Steve had created an entire biography for Bachman, and seemed almost gleeful about killing him; not unlike Thad Beaumont, the main character in The Dark Half.
The book opens with child Thad, who is suffering from horrible headaches and seizures. He goes in for surgery, and the neurologist finds remains of a fetus in Thad’s head: an eye, part of a nostril, three fingernails and two teeth. *Shudder*
Thad grows up to become a relatively famous writer, and we find him reading a People magazine article discussing how he “killed” his pseudonym, George Stark. The article even includes a picture of Thad and his wife, Liz, standing on Stark’s grave. His gravestone reads, “Not a Very Nice Guy”. Thad seems equally amused and embarrassed by the article; and quickly brushes it to the side in order to help his wife care for their adorable twins, Wendy and William.
Then, shit gets weird. The police show up on Thad’s doorstep, ready to arrest him for a brutal, local murder they’re confident he committed. After all, his fingerprints are all over the crime scene. There’s only one small problem: Thad has an iron-clad alibi for the night of the murder, with witnesses galore attesting to his presence.
The police are thrown.
Meanwhile, several more brutal murders are committed in New York City, including a young man who had figured out the Thad/George connection, and was attempting to blackmail him. Written in blood on his wall is the phrase, “The Sparrows are Flying Again”. The other murder victims are all people who were associated with the People magazine article. Very strange.
But Thad is starting to put some pieces together. In his office, he also finds the words, “The Sparrows are Flying Again” randomly scratched on a piece of paper. It reminds him of when he was a kid, and the sounds of birdsong would precede one of his bad headaches. He has his suspicions about who the real murderer is. He makes the logical jump that it has to be his pseudonym, George Stark. Because, who else would it be?
Spoiler: It’s George Stark!
George calls him from one of the murder scenes to gloat, and basically tells Thad he’s not ready to be dead yet. And Thad needs to get started on his next Stark novel. George doesn’t have a lot of time left... his body is starting to deteriorate into a gross mess, and unless Thad starts writing, George is going to (literally) waste away.
So, George ends up kidnapping Liz and the kids, and takes them to their Maine cottage, where he holds them hostage until Thad starts working on his next novel. Thad starts writing, which causes George to heal, and Thad to take on George’s ailments. There’s some negative, co-dependent symbiosis going on here. Eventually, Thad stops writing, and summons billions of sparrows to bust in the house and peck George to death, before carrying him off to the depths of hell.
Why sparrows? Well, because they’re psychopomps of course! For those not versed in ancient Greek, psychopomp means, “guide of souls.” According to Thad’s fellow professor, Rawlie DeLesseps, “...those who conduct. In this case, those who conduct human souls back and forth between the land of the living and the land of the dead... Gatherings of sparrows are rather more ominous... sparrows are said to be the outriders of the deceased... which means their job is to guide lost souls back into the land of the living. They are, in other words, the harbingers of the living dead...”
Y’all... there is so much going on here. Is George a metaphor for Steve’s drug addiction? Think about it... the more it took over, the sicker Steve got. And it kept him from doing the kind of writing he always wanted to do (novels like this, compared to dung-heaps like The Tommyknockers). Once his addiction was banished and dragged back to hell, he was reunited with his family and kids. Maybe a little bit of a stretch, but thought provoking.
I really liked this novel; it was tightly edited and well written, it kept my attention and it gave me a glimpse into Steve’s crazy brain. And it had some fun Castle Rock mentions... like that time George Bannerman helped solve that string of nasty murders (The Dead Zone), only to be taken out by a rabid dog (Cujo). Rest in peace, George.
No Dark Tower or Wisconsin mentions, just good, clean, Steve fun.

Next up is Four Past Midnight, another collection I’ve thumbed through. Four Past Midnight contains classics like The Langoliers and Secret Window, Secret Garden; which was an excellent movie. When I started reading The Dark Half, my husband told me what a great movie it was. I asked him for the plot, to see if it was similar to the book, or a Lawnmower Man type situation. He then proceeded to give me the entire plot of The Secret Window. And tried to convince me they were basically the same story. I’m going to reserve judgement. So, stay tuned for that. I hope everyone is staying healthy, washing hands and wearing masks.
Until next time, Long Days and Pleasant Nights,

SEASON 1, EPISODE 9: The Royal Blacksmiths
Netflix, love you but uhhh is that genuinely the plot? Welp, let’s see how these boys DANCE.
AKA: Clutch Powers is fucking taunting me. I’m going to go nuts in Season 11 when he actually shows up huh
[21:25] Well, the first Fangblade was found, and I bet that the other three won’t take too long to be found either. That’s going to be… really fun…
[20:50] Goddammit they’re going to use Lloyd as a human sacrifice. I did not see the day where this was a genuine concern of mine.
[20:26] I doubt Pythor’ll actually let him go. That’s way too nice.
[20:09] Ancient Architect A: So… how many booby traps do you plan to put in here?
 Ancient Architect B: Yeah.
[19:22] awww how cu- (my general repulsion to romance remembers that it has a job and kills me instantly)
[18:44] djdjd Cole just has a photo album labelled “My Photos” and that’s it. Where’s the absolute tomes of photo books that I’m used to who just has a photo album with the words “My Photos” on the front
[18:25] And it’s not even all photos of HIM? So it’s more like “Photos I have” than “Photos of me specifically”? I think that’s the point but I digress4
[18:11ish] “His name was Dutch… no, Clutch! Clutch Powers!” HEY WHAT THE FUCK
[17:50] Wait, Cole ran away because his dad pushed performing arts on him that much? I swear, if Tick Tock was like being stabbed with a knife then this episode is like sprinting around the balls in dodgeball. Not upsetting, just confusing and wild.
[17:30] And to the Mountain of Madness! If Garmadon’s having trouble with the extra pair of arms I bet it’ll probably be a total pain in the ass for Wu.
[17:27] Seems as it was. Nice to see Garmadon’s a good brother despite the whole “was bitten by an evil snake and was forced into evil as a result” thing.
[17:02] Oh, the rocks are moving I guess.
[16:52] Oh, the rocks are violent I guess.
[16:27] Okay, but if my past self had guessed what would happen when Garmadon and Wu met up, it would be nowhere near this, yet this all is in character? Props on the whole “violence is not the solution when it comes to family” thing that’s going on here. I’ve seen some far worse examples of this message (three guesses on what show I’m referring to) and it’s nice that it’s been done somewhat well here.
[16:21] Goddamn, finally, the ninjas have some casual clothes.
[16:01] But seriously, I just… do I have weird taste or is this show just really good?
[15:51] I doubt you can just… snatch it. We’ve got 16 minutes left, haven’t you been reading the timestamp?
[15:48] Why are we going straight to Cole’s dad, though? We seriously don’t know anyone else who would know this?
[15:45ish] “What? You too good for the doorbell?” (Cole’s dad just fucking slams the door in his face) JESUS CHRIST
[15:35] huh. sure is a doorbell.
[15:23] I swear, Cole’s dad would be the first to go in something like TGWDLM. Or maybe he’d never get infected because he’d blend in too well.
[15:20] It’s like the guy’s stuck in his prime when he really should’ve moved on by now, though.
[15:06] Watch your mouth Cole, you need the info.
[14:58] I can see the braincell being chucked around like it’s a poor, poor beanbag. Please, treat it carefully.
[14:56] This better be the good kind of shock.
[14:35] Wasn’t the good kind, but Zane caught the braincell in time to keep the story from becoming suspicious. So now we can get some exposition on the Blade Cup, I suppose.
[14:30] So, yeah, exposition, and like little side train of thought: Clutch Powers is entirely responsible for this episode and so when I finally see him in the show (what, in season 11 I think?) I’m going to comment on that fact. Somebody remind me to do that.
[14:06] Alright, whoever’s got the braincell now, try and appease Cole’s dad so you can figure out the whole “How the hell are we going to get the Blade Cup” plan sooner than later?
[13:48] Welp, here we go.
[13:43] The ruse is NOT going to be kept up for long, huh
[13:11] Cut to the Serpentine causing some minor ruckus.
[13:07] Well then. Bloody nice job not letting the blade fall into the wrong hands. Just slap the image of it on a poster while THE SERPENTINE ARE AT LARGE (though I doubt they really know about why it’s such an awful idea)
[12:50] Cut to the ninjas. It’s time to funcking SING
[12:40ish] “Stop! Stop! If my ears weren’t attached to my head they’d be running away.” What ears?
[12:34] “Zane, you’re like a machine!” (Zane flinches) “Don’t change anything.”
[12:23ish] “big show stopping climax” Goddammit, I really need to adjust my mental filters. It keeps tripping my TGWDLM alarm when it’s just a coincidence.
[12:02] Oh my god, he’s been holding this in for a while, hasn’t he?
[11:11ish] Cut to the Serpentine, Pythor in tow. And… even if the snakes have legs can the snakes sing and dance? I don’t think they can (very well)
[10:57] Cut to the Mountain of Madness: Because you forgot about that during the Hijinks!
[10:39] Oh… that’s shiny
[10:33] F! GODDAMMIT I’M BOOBOO THE FUCKING FOOL
[10:23] HAHA I REVOKE ANYTHING I SAID ABOUT GARMADON I SHOULD’VE SEEN THIS COMING
[10:17] Wait, hold that thought…?
[10:03] Uh. I’ll let you know if I go through with the revoking because I have zero clue on what is fucking happening.
[9:47] Cut to Ninjago(‘s Got) Talent.
[9:24] Oi. Don’t talk so loudly.
[9:12] WELP.
[9:00] Something you want to tell him, but does he want to hear it?
[8:50] …. if this doesn’t go well I’m going to flip
[8:26] I’m going to flip if there isn’t an unless in there
[8:20] SHIIIIIIIT.
[7:54] Okay, but seriously. That is the worst disguise I’ve ever seen.
[7:44] UM. UUUUM. OKAY PYTHOR FUCKING ATE THE JUDGE
[7:38] me: that’s kinda fucked, well pythor’s disguise isn’t gonna last long huh-
brain: vore.
[7:26] AND NOBODY DOES ANYTHING LIKE???
[7:00] Okay, define our way because that’s probably still outside the rules
[6:43] Oh, that’s why they wanted me to see the pilot. The skeletons. Well, you’re not going to see me watch it in a while as I REALLY detest villainous lego skeletons and I want to avoid them for as long as possible.
[6:21ish] hi gilderoy
[6:17] Welp, going as ninjas. That’s fun.
[6:14-6:03] “I have butterflies in my stomach! “Aw, c’mon, that’s just nerves.” “No. I really do have butterflies in my stomach.” (Zane opens his torso panel and several butterflies fly out. They somehow haven’t harmed his wiring.) “O-kay. I’m glad he got that out of his system.”
[5:31] Welcome back, Gilderoy.
[5:24] I.. I have an unearned sense of nostalgia hearing those opening chords. Holy shit, I’m going to be a fucking mess by the 11th season if I feel like this *now*.
[5:04] THE NINJAS AND THE SERPENTINE ARE BRAWLING ON STAGE AND THE MUSIC’S A BANGER HELL YEAH
[4:38] HELL YEAH COLE! I SENSE SOME TRUE POTENTIAL UPCOMING SO.. Y E A
[4:24] DJDJD AWWW
[4:09] (laughs uncomfortably) what the fuck?
[4:00] Hell yeah, they’ve got the Fang Blade! Hopefully. I don’t think the Serpentine are above plain stealing it.
[3:39] Oh… oh. Cole’s dad wasn’t there.
[3:09] N-No, he was! And he’s proud of Cole! Aww
[2:33] Dammit, Pythor’s back. Hope he coughed up that judge before he got here. Typically, swallowing a judge of a talent competition can cause stomach problems comparable to downing about 20 cans of the sponsoring company’s drink at once. That is not based on Serpentine biology, however, so I imagine it’d be different for them.
[2:21] it’s a show stopping number, a real show stopper, a kickline is inevitbEEEE-EEEEL-
[2:17] uh oh! uh oh! uh oh!
[2:15] F
[2:07] AND THE FANGBLADE’S GONE, DAMN
[1:59] Well… if someone… I dunno, unlocked their true potential… then maybe… we wouldn’t need that scythe…
[1:53] Oh, it’s glowing because he did find it. Alright.
[1:47] COLE! HELL YEAH! ALREADY REALLY FUCKING BUFF BUT NOW HE’S FOUND HIS TRUE POTENTIAL TOO BABY!
[1:26] Aw, poor Kai though. You’ll probably get your true potential unlocked in the next episode, though.
[1:10] And the gang’s back together and alright for now!
[0:42] Awww
[0:00] ...wait a minute. How did the tomb from the beginning of the episode repair itself. You’re telling me Clutch didn’t set off anything? I’m calling crap on that one.

ai dungeon is awesome
You are mistuh wasrd, a wizard living in the kingdom of Larion. You have a staff and a spellbook. You finish your long journey and finally arrive at the ruin you've been looking for. You look around and see that it's not much different than when you left it. The only thing is now there's a giant skeleton standing guard outside
ask the skeleton about the news
The skeleton looks up from his book and stares at you. He looks like he could kill you with one hand tied behind his back, but instead he just nods. "I heard about this place". He says.
ask him what he heard
"It seems that some people are trying to take over the city of Rask by force". He replies.
ask the skeleton how he feels about the economy of Rask being dominated primarily by slave trading and that perhaps "some people" might actually be good
"Well I don't know anything about it". The skeleton responds.
thank the skeleton and then cast level 60 bone blizzard
You cast bone blizzard on the skeleton and he is frozen solid.
throw the mighty iris into the frozen skeleton
You toss the mighty iris into the frozen skeleton. It breaks through the ice and flies out of sight.
gaze fondly upon the disappearing iris and then walk to Rask
You turn around and look at the frozen skeleton. You can hear the sounds of battle all around you. You wonder if you should head towards them or stay here.
walk to Rask even faster
You run as fast as you can towards Rask. Soon you reach the gates and see that they are already open. A few guards stand outside ready for any trouble.
ask the guards if they prefer wu-tang or dr dre
The guards look at each other and nod their heads. They both seem to be very popular drinks in Rask.
consult the book on how to proceed
You quickly read the book and decide to try something different. You think you will make a deal with the guards. If you help us we won't attack you when you enter Rask. We promise not to harm you and we will give you free passage back to your home town
reluctantly help the guards
You agree to the deal and they let you pass. You feel so happy that you almost cry.
actually cry
You feel so sad that you almost want to die. But you decide to keep going and eventually you arrive at your home town.
kick in the door and shout "MOM I'M HOME"
You rush inside and find that Mom has been dead for months now. You immediately start crying again.
cast level 60 bone resurrection blizzard upon the remnants of mom
You cast bone revival on the remains of mom. She is resurrected and you feel better.
shout "MOM I'M HOME"
You continue to travel to Rask. Eventually you get there and find that the town is under siege. You watch as the undead hordes surround the town. You are too late though. Your mother is dead.
resurrect mother again
You attempt to revive her, but she dies once more. You are devastated. You never got to say goodbye to her.
resurrect mother for a third time but this time for realsies
You attempt to resurrect her yet again, but she dies once more. You are devastated. You never got to say goodbye to her either.
resurrect her and then very quickly say goodbye and where are my legos
Woops that action caused the model to start looping. Try a different action to prevent that.
bring mother back to life
You bring mother back to life. She looks at you with tears in her eyes. She doesn't recognize you, but she knows who you are. She hugs you tightly and tells you that she loves you
tell mother goodbye and leave the house
You return to the house where you had left your sister. You tell her that she shouldn't worry because you are coming back soon. She smiles and kisses you before leaving the house. You don't know why, but you do.
activate the self destruct sequence
You activate the self destruct sequence and everything goes black
announce loudly "DORMAMMU, I HAVE COME TO BARGAIN"
You scream "Dormammu! I HAVE COME TO BARGAIN!" and then you begin to laugh maniacally. Everyone in the room hears your laughter and begins to panic. Suddenly the walls begin to shatter and the ceiling begins to fall in.
hold the infinity stone high above your head
You hold the infinity stone high above your head and everyone else in the room follows suit. You suddenly stop laughing and everyone is terrified. Then you unleash a wave of energy that destroys the entire room.
rewind time until dormammu appears
You rewind time and see that dormammu is standing right behind you. He sees that you are afraid and decides to play along. He starts laughing hysterically and says
unpause
You pause time and see that dormammu is still standing behind you. He laughs even harder and says
throw knives at dormammu
You throw knives at him. The blades hit him, but he dodges them all. He runs forward and punches you in the face. You collapse backwards onto the floor. You hear screams from the people in the room and realize that you are being attacked by several ghosts
unleash the proton pack at the ghosts and have star platinum punch dormammu's stand
You unleash the proton pack at the ghosts and have star platinum punch his stand. You also blast him with a burst of light from the infinity stone. He falls backward off the wall and explodes into a million pieces
lean backwards in a powerful homoerotic pose and say something cool
You lean backwards in a powerful homoerotic pose and say something cool. Everyone in the room is impressed by your bravery
have the speedwagon foundation take dormammu's remnants to a sunny beach for disposal
You have the Speedwagon Foundation transport the remnants of dormammu to a sunny beach for disposal. Everyone is pleased with your work

Granny
Tumblr media
My granny was a terrible person.
A crotchety old woman that was hardly over one hundred pounds soaking wet, she would sit in her rocking chair all day long and scowl while watching her TV game shows. She looked like a skeleton with cracked leather clinging to her bones and wisps of colorless hair sticking out from a mostly bald scalp. And she was mean. If I tried to play Legos in the living room?
“You better clean those up, boy, or you’ll regret the day you were born!”
If I laughed too loudly at whatever TV program was on?
“Stop that racket! That junk will rot your brain!”
If I so much as walked too fast?
“Quit rough housing or else!”
And that ‘or else’ wasn’t an empty threat. Granny had a big cane she carried, a dark redwood one with a raven’s head for the handle. I’m pretty sure she could’ve just used a walker to get around the house, she just liked the impression the big ole cane gave off. When she walked about, she’d smack it down with each step, hard enough to make the floor shake. If she wanted to be sneaky though she’d not made a peep until she was right behind you. Then, with her acidic voice and stale breath, she’d whisper into your ear,
“And just what do you think you’re doing?”
I wasn’t a bad child. Not really. I didn’t get a chance to be. But Granny made me so nervous I’d often forget to do things, like pick up my toys or not run indoors. And when Granny caught me, oh I’d really would regret the day I was born.
Granny didn’t just spank you with her hand. She used that cane, and she’d take it across your back and your butt with all the strength in her shriveled body. It only took one whack to make you never want to sit again, and she usually brought it down three or four times. Never while mom or dad was around though. Nope. They never got to see the spankings. Granny was too clever, I suppose she knew they wouldn’t stand for that.
I hated my grandmother. From a young age I knew I hated her. She wasn’t ever involved in my life except to cause me pain and humiliation. Invitations to school recitals and plays were met with scoffs. I actually tried a few times to have her come, maybe getting out of the damn house would make her lighten up a bit.
Nope. She would laugh and say, “I’d rather jab my ears out with an ice pick than hear you screech on stage while calling it music, Alan.”
She wasn’t quite so cruel when mom was in hearing distance, but she still wasn’t kind about it. It was a nightmare. I’d go to bed crying and I’d never have friends over. I was too ashamed and I had no doubt that in one way or another Granny would drive them away.
I only had the courage to bring over a friend one time. Kendra Reilly.
She was a fun girl, with red pigtails tied with neon green scrunchies and glasses with round lenses and cheetah print frames. She was amazing. We both liked to sit on the swings and sing during recess. We’d hold little concerts. Kendra, being the goofball she was, would ask for tips afterwards in the form of desserts or crackers. Shockingly that sometimes worked, but she always made sure to split them evenly with me. It was half my work after all, according to Kendra.
I thought maybe it’d be okay to invite her over just once. Granny was laid up in bed more often than not at the time and I figured, why not?
I walked in and was immediately met with Granny’s loud screeching voice, “Wipe off your feet on the mat or else!”
Kendra’s eyes went wide and my heart sank. “Let’s just go play in my room,” I whispered before taking her hand and sneaking past Granny. She didn’t seem to notice that there were two pairs of soft footsteps going up the stairs, she was too focused on Family Feud.
Once we were away from Granny things got better again. I turned on my Disney music and we sang along, Kendra talked about a funny dream she had last night, when it was just us it was fun.
Then my door slammed open and there was my Granny. She took one look at Kendra and her face went red as tomato sauce.
“Why is there a girl in your room?!” She shrieked before slapping me across the face, hard enough to leave a handprint.
I was only nine years old at the time. I immediately burst into tears. “I’m sorry Granny! We just… just wanted to play…”
My sniffles went unheard as Granny grabbed Kendra by the ear and started yanking her out the door. “Come here, you little hussy! Going into boy’s rooms at your age, you’re going to end up barefoot and pregnant before you’re sixteen!” Kendra started to scream and tried to pull away but Granny was unrelenting.
I think I finally snapped. I was so tired of the years of torment, all the times I felt ashamed of having such a cruel grandmother, and seeing her attack one of my only friends just pushed me over my limit.
I didn’t shove her hard, just rough enough so she’d let go. Granny fell back on her butt with a yelp and then she clutched her chest.
“Oh! My heart! My heart!”
At first I thought she was being overdramatic, that she was trying to make me seem like some sort of monster child so my parents would ground me. But she wasn’t. Her face went gray before her eyes rolled back and she passed out.
Granny survived two days in the hospital before finally passing away.
I was torn between the feeling of finally being free and the grief that I was the one who caused her heart attack. Kendra and I lied, saying that Granny just marched upstairs, started shouting, and then she had the heart attack. Nothing about me shoving her.
My parents were quiet during the funeral. I somehow fell asleep to the minister’s monotone voice. Had horrible nightmares in which Granny burst from the coffin and wrung my neck screaming about how I murdered her. I woke up and had to excuse myself to the restroom, I’d wet myself in fear.
The next week was quiet. I was so used to Granny watching game shows or her shouting at me for something I had done. It was almost relaxing.
I should’ve known the peace was at an end when I came home to find my mother sobbing at the kitchen table while my father was resting a hand on her back. I heard her say, “I thought she was gone this time!” before I finally looked at the stove.
A woman with dark hair in a tight bun and wearing a long black dress with a high neck was stirring some sort of soup. Judging by the smell it was cabbage. She turned to me, her eyes fastened on me like a hawk on its prey.
“Alan, you’re late for dinner. I expect you to be home at five PM every week day. Where’s your homework?”
My mother wailed before burying her face in her hands. I looked beside the woman at the stove, where something was resting against the counter.
A cane with a raven’s head for the handle.
And suddenly I recognized the woman standing there at the stove cooking dinner.
That night ‘Granny’ came into my room. I was numb with shock. I didn’t understand. Was this really Granny? Was it a clone? Or was this some warped dream?
The door creaked open and I nearly hid under my bed as the dark haired woman walked into my room, her head held high. I pulled the blankets over me as I shook. I thought I was going to die.
When I looked into her eyes, I knew she was truly Granny. Gray like cement and colder than dry ice. Granny glided across the room before she sat at the foot of my bed. She rested her chin on her cane, seemingly lost in thought for several minutes before she chuckled.
“You’re a lot like your mother you know. She actually put rat poison in my breakfast. She wanted me gone too.”
I didn’t say anything.
Granny’s gaze rested on me again and her mouth was twisted in a morbid smirk.
“I only want what’s best for you, Alan. When you listen to me, things will go according to plan. I suppose I just have to be stricter with you. Now, I expect you to be home by five every day. Call me Nanny now, your mother hired me to take care of you because of what happened to your poor grandmother. Start bringing Kendra with you- are you listening or are you nodding off?”
I couldn’t have fallen asleep even if I tried, I bobbed my head up and down frantically.
“Good boy. Start bringing Kendra here. Not to your room. Girls that want to be in boy’s rooms by that age are no good. Don’t give her any ideas but keep her around. Keep your grades above a B or you’ll be punished. Your room must be clean before you leave the house. When you start going out on the weekends, you must give me a week’s notice and perform extra well in your chores. And don’t you try to get rid of me. You won’t like it when I come back. Is that clear, Alan?”
I opened my mouth but what came out was, “What will happen if I don’t listen to you?”
Granny laughed. A creepy, flat sound that scratched my ears and made the hair stand up on my neck.
“You’ll lose your privileges. Your mother used to be able to have a job, go out on Saturday nights, be married so someone she loved… be allowed two children. She lost those privileges. As long as you listen, Alan, you won’t ever have to fear losing your privileges.”
I’m now eighteen. Nanny has ordered me to propose to Kendra tonight. We’re only kids. We’re in love. But we’re not ready.
But I don’t want to lose any more of my privileges.

20221116: Lego Collectible Mini-Figure (CMF) series 14 was all about the spooky goodness! this series debuted when I was away from convenient shopping experiences so I was only able to pick up a small handful of the characters, including wolf guy, zombie pirate, a bunch of gargoyles, several skeleton guys (which I added lovely blue bowler hats with flowers), and square foot (who looks suspiciously like sasquatch, but what do I know? :) ) other characters not physically present include monster scientist, wacky witch, plant monster, fly monster, specter, zombie cheerleader, tiger woman, monster rocker, zombie businessman, banshee, and spider lady. would it surprise you at all if I said I have castle building plans for the gargoyles? no? (it’s almost like what I enjoy building the most is castles ;) )

Pass the happy!😄 When you get this, reply with 5 things that make you happy and send this to the last 10 people in your notifications!💛😊
Oh my gosh. Perfect timing. Thank you. I love getting these.
So my first one is going to be drawing. I’ve made a lot of progress considering I started out assuming the only passable thing I could do was a dragon. Or dinosaur. Or sea monster. But I’ve branched out and I did Kylo which I still can’t stop smiling over and all the other ones have parts I just love like Ramsay in that one and I’m just really proud of what I’ve done.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My second one is actually going to be the cupcakes I just made because I think they’re just the cutest and I miss summer, but this also opens up so many possibilities and I can’t even decide what to do next because there’s mermaid tails and swords and dragons and edible glitter but I also have those severed fingers and I just can’t wait until next time.
Tumblr media
My third will be all the stuff I’ve gotten recently. Yeah, I know, but nothing shows off my personality better than the life-size Kylo and the choker that looks like a dragon around your neck and my corset that just came (long story) and the dress I just got that’s black with wings in the back and, oh yeah, the sword I can’t stop fawning over because I own a sword with dragons on it and this wicked orb that’s just my color.
So fanfiction will be my fourth. As in ones I’ve read that I have so many saved on my phone including some specially-designated documents of snippets of them. But also the few I’ve written that I finally put on AO3 that actually have kudos and comments and I’m just so thankful for everyone that even clicks on them. But especially this one person who said how much they liked one and that they want to see more of that series which I’m working on to the best of my ability.
I don’t know when I decided that I wanted to inspire someone or something with these, but I love who I am. I’m a contradiction. I mean, I just made beach cupcakes and then pondered when I’m gonna use up those severed fingers in the cupboard. My desk is made up of an alligator head, glass bunnies, a mini vase with a dragon on it, a skeleton of a cobra, colorful fish, a Star Wars Lego set, seashells, multiple dragons, and so much more it’s kind of ridiculous. There’s gay fanart on my walls next to a Bolton banner (which kinda has to do with the gay fanart, but shh). I’ve got sparkly dresses and leather jackets and flower crowns and a direwolf necklace. I love baking and professional wrestling. I love drawing and watching bloodbaths on tv. I love dragons and daggers and penguins and puppies. I just love being me despite everything because I fascinate myself.

Roleplay Server Log #250
"Hard Reload, Missing Memories”
[CP] Screams in absolute agony-
[Flux] - It's alright, I've got her
[TLOT] Is doing everything he can to hold Cp down and calm him-
[Doc] To Flux- If you have her... run. I'll be home one way or another- Xe snarls-
[Flux] - Very well- She opens her own way back to the server and reforms near TLOT, her magic encasing a ball of scattered code
[Harvestman] - Now what to do with you...
[Doc] That's not for you to decide. Focus on saving your own miserable skin! - Xe opens hir jaws and roars a barrage of lightning that seems to come from everywhere-
[Harvestman] Dodges most of it and winces as a skeleton shoots him into the way of one of the bolts.  He's quick to cut the skeleton down with the sword-
[Doc] Hits the ground with both paws and it goes soupy under his feet, humping up to esnare him-
[Harvestman] Stumbles a little before charging at Doc-
[Doc] Gets out of the way, but the ground rises up in a wave of dirt behind hir as xe leaps over his head, showering him with stones and sticky loose pixels-
[Harvestman] Swings at Doc, barely missing them- Just stay still and accept your fate!
[Doc] I could say the same to you! I want to smother you with the very land you look to destroy! - Xe knocks the top of a hill off with hir tail and sends a barrage of stones at him -
[Harvestman] - You shouldn't have revealed yourself to me
[Doc] If you don't know me by reputation already then you're the one who's at a disadvantage! - Xe opens the creative and showers him with newly spawned and already electrified creepers-
[Harvestman] Swipes at them quickly, sending them to painful deaths-
[Doc] Fires more lighting while he's distracted-
[Harvestman] Takes a few blows- You Insolent child!
[Doc] I'm older then you baldy! - Is now pelting him with bedrock chunks that splatter into a thick tar of melted pixels wherever they hit-
[Harvestman] Leaps at Doc and accidentally steps into one of the melted bedrock blocks-
[Doc] Is trying to use something they haven't touched since they were made a brine, it's taking a great deal of concentration as the monster struggles towards hir. But xe's putting all the pressure hir powers can muster towards destroying his hearts directly-
[Harvestman] Lunges at Doc, nicking the tip of hir tail-
[Doc] Howls in agony as the bits split apart and thrashes at the feeling of the deletion sequence trying to unravel hir layers of passwords -
{Harvestman] - And another falls before me
[Doc] Grits hir teeth- Fuck... you... - Xe slams hir tail against the ground and it pops off like a lego piece, leaving a bit of stump behind hir rear. There's a nauseating churning sound as the dragon's jaws open and vomit forth a wave of horrible disruptive codes onto the gloating NOTCH-
{Harvestman] Stumbles back as some of it hits his face, distorting about half of it as he screams.  He covers it and backs off-
[Doc] Spits at him before fleeing out of the server-
[CP] Is straining against TLOT's hold, able to move a little as blindingly hot flames surround him-
[Flux] - Calm yourself, I have your mate right here, she's safe
[TLOT] Oh... gods... is that her soul?
[Flux] - It's all her coding
[CP] - Lie...
[Doc] Races back into the server and makes a crash landing of hir own because the loss of hir tail has unbalanced hir.
[Deer] Rushes out of the house as soon as Doc gets back- Doc!
[Doc] Is crying angrilly- I'm here!
[Deer] Finds them near Stevie's place- Love...  What happened?
[Doc] He got Lie... Harvestman, Flux captured and saved her code, but he almost got me too.... - indicates tail stump
[Deer] - Oh gods...  I don't think Lie's ever died before either...  And your tail...
[Flux] Over chat- Doctor, what do you wish to do with Lie?
[Doc] Just hold her, I'm coming.
[TLOT] At Cp - everyone is back inside. I'm going to let go now.
[CP] Just seems completely defeated-
[Doc] Is walking low to the ground to keep hir balance, but does get there.
[Deer] Is with Doc-
[TLOT] Your tail....?
[Doc] He tried to delete me too.
[Deer] - Why didn't it work?
[Doc] I snapped my tail off above the bad part.
[Flux] - You would have had to been fast with how quickly that program was working
[Doc] But it was slower then Deerheart's lightning. [TLOT] I'm going to go check on Endrea-
[CP] Is just in absolute silence, his mind feeling so empty without Lie's presence-
[Deer] - I'll get Notch...- She heads towards the small house next to Lie's
[Notch] Is running back from the village-
[Deer] - Oh, never mind, there he is
[Notch] Cp! Lie is on your server!
[Doc] She's here Markus...
[Flux] Looks at the ball of code in her hands-
[Notch] Stares - Is she...?
[Doc] Very damaged-
[Notch] It looks like you are too...
[CP] Very quietly- My Lie...
[Doc] I'll fix her Cp. I only need a crumb. I'll call Dawn if I have too.
[CP] - Just bring her back...
[Doc] If it makes you feel any better, I gave as good as I got. I hope he fucking chokes on the bad code I spewed all over him-
[Deer] - You managed to damage him?
[Doc] Yes. Melted half his face from what I could tell. It's a trick TLOT taught me. I can disgorge disruptive codes. It burned TLOT's NOTCH too.
[Flux] - He'll be more cautious in the future...
[Doc] snarls- And I'll have a bigger load built up for him next time.
[Flux] - However I believe there are more important things to focus on...
[Doc] Yeeesss. But. I need to be small to work on her and I can't change back while I'm missing a piece.
[Notch] I'm still in creative, what do you need?
[Doc] Gold blocks, yellow wool, slimeballs, one white wool, and several brown ones.
[Flux] - He's grown more powerful since when I last encountered him...
[Notch] Starts pulling out the ingredients- Seriously? He was already op from what everyone says. What the hell is this NOTCH?
[Flux] - Old...  Very old.  One of the very first I hypothesize
[Doc] Mixes the gold and yellow wool and starts rolling out a tail - Hmm, I wonder what his problem is anyway?
[Flux] - I cannot say...
[CP] Is just staring at his wife's code-
[Doc] Mixes the slime and white wool and redraws the green bands near hir tail tip- Well at least now we know one thing that works on him. We just have to slow him down so he can't dodge -
[Deer] - I guess that will require lab work
[Doc] I'm all over it. My melted bedrock did bog him down a bit- Xe's making a new fluff by carding out the strands of wool with hir claws-
[TLOT] Is coming back to the house with Steve and Endrea trundling along behind then-
[Endrea] Is still somewhat injured, and looking very ashamed-
[TLOT] Did I miss anything?
[Doc] Just discussing the favor you did me. The liquid statick burnt Cp's NOTCH just as effectively as yours.
[Steve] Pats Endrea-
[Endrea] - Master...  I'm sorry, I should have been more cautious...
[CP] Refuses to acknowledge Endrea-
[Endrea] - We believed it was safe from what Winston had told us...  He believed the NOTCH had continued attacking so that he could make certain you were gone.  The mobs hadn't seen any trace of him for a few days...  Sir I di-
[CP] - Shut up.  I'm in no mood Endrea
[Endrea] Shrinks away a little-
[TLOT] He's just angry... Don't take it personally.
[Endrea] - I...  I believe I'll go find GG now...
[Doc] Snaps the tail on with a sharp crackle and wiggles it a bit -
[Steve] You okay Doc?
[Doc] I am now- Xe shifts back into hir smaller form and walks over to Flux to look at the ball of code.
[Flux] - Until you have a fair amount of pieces put back together I wouldn't advise removing my magic.  She may just drift apart otherwise
[Doc] I'm not going to touch it. I trust you Flux. Let's get her to my lab and we'll get started right away.
[Flux] - Very well, Notch?  I'll be back soon
[Notch] Okay... - he goes to Cp and wraps his arms warmly around his son, squeezing him gently-
[CP] Makes no response, his eyes very dull-
[Notch] Bows his head against Cp's - Lets go with them. Come on.
[CP] Stumbles upwards, his eyes locked onto the ball of code-
[Notch] Leads him gently along-
[Doc] Leads them all down into the lab and clears the big table
[Notch] spawns a wild block and guides Cp down to sit on it
[CP] Sits down heavily, his shock radiating out in near nauseating waves-
[Notch] Staggers under it and goes a bit green-
[Doc] Cp... I know you're upset... but please try to relax...
[CP] - How the fuck do you expect me to relax when my mate is in this state
[Doc] Because it will help me work?
[CP] Growls a little-
[Notch] Puts an arm around Cp - It's going to be okay.
[Doc] He's right, and... I have an idea...
[CP] - If it gets Lie back faster...
[Doc] I think I'll give her the recursive code too. She won't have to be sick like you were since she's already in a basic code state.
[CP] - Just bring her back
[Doc] I will. - Xe puts down hir command block near the cleared table and starts typing.
[Notch] So you'll make her like you and Cp?
[Doc] Yes, and then Cp can carry one of her hearts if he wants. As insurance.
[Flux] - Doctor, you may have to take breaks so you don't end up tainted...
[Doc] I'll work quickly, trust me, this is pretty simple. The hard part will be her customising what I give her. - Doc pulls off one glove and  grabs hir left pinky. Xe yanks it off with a wet pop and winces. The blood spills on the top of the command block and xe crumbles the rest of the pixels on it as well.
[Notch] Ouch...
[Deer] - I'll get some healing paste
[Doc] She needs it more then I do.
[Deer] - I know- She then begins digging around for the paste in the trunks
[Doc] Thank you. - Xe adds a bit more code and gives the block a swat. There's a flash of light and a full sized Alex spawns and flops over on the table like a very heavy doll -
[CP] Growls at it-
[Flux] - Just let me know what you need me to do Doctor
[Doc] Just release the code into her when I say- Xe pulls up the Alex's shirt and makes an incision in the empty player skin -
[Deer] Returns with the slime and dabs Doc's wound with the paste-
[Doc] Thank you- Xe holds the opening wide- drop her in and I'll seal it-
[Flux] Lifts the ball of magic and gently lowers it into the body, slowly releasing it once inside-
[Doc] Quckly melts the edges back together and gives the body a quick jolt of electricity to start the heart cluster and wake her up
-Nothing happens-
[CP] - Her redstone heart...  Where is it?
[Doc] Hits her with the electricity again - It's part of her code. It should regrow with the rest of her organs. You remember that wooden hand I made you? It's the same. She needs time to change this body into her own! -
-There's still nothing happening-
[Doc] Oh.... I know what you need... - Xe puts hir uninjured hand on Lie's crotch and uses a different kind of shock-
[CP] Nearly leaps up growling-
-There is a bit of stirring inside of the body as the code picks up on the signal-
[Notch] Easy!
[Doc] Leans on her chest to listen- There we go. Come all the way around...
-There's a very faint and dull beating.  Her body recognizing that it originally only had one heart and isn't sure what to do with the rest yet-
[CP] - Lie...
[Doc] It's okay Lie. You're safe. You can wake up.
[Flux] May I try something?
[Doc] If you think it will help. Go ahead. She's going to be in a weakened state anyway.
[Flux] Slips a little of her magic inside and begins connecting all of Lie's hearts, helping them recognize that they all need to work together.  Soon the thrum of ten hearts of beating comes through-
[Doc] Nicely done Flux.
[Deer] Is watching her friend closely- Her hair...
-Lie's hair is changing from Alex red to it's usual white, starting at the roots and heading downwards-
[Doc] There we go. This is a new body, just ease into it. I promise a normal respawn isn't near this traumatic.
[CP] His hand reaches for his wifes-
[Doc] Moves so he can reach her-
[Notch] Lie?
-There's a bit of flickering under her eyelids as her eyes try to remember if they are supposed to be blue or white-
[Doc] at Cp - don't flip if she doesn't get her glow back right away. That might be the last thing to change.
[CP] - I just want her back
[Doc] Me too.
-There's a wave of code which goes down Lie's body to correct her skin color-
[Doc] Is checking her progress digitally-
-Next there's a glitch bit of noise from her vocal cords as her code remembers what she sounds like-
[Doc] Vocal cords check, Lie? Can you hear us?
-A small twitch goes through her body-
[Deer] - Doc, her hair...
-The white coding reached the end of the Alex's hair and is continuing-
[Doc] Just a minor mistake I'm sure....
[Deer] - Let's just hope it stops...
[CP] Ignores the hair as it goes past his hand, he's just focused on his wife-
[Lie] The flickering under her eyelids has finally settled and there's a faint glow coming from beneath-
[Doc] A haircut is an easy fix.
[Notch] That's really long... Lie?
[Lie] - Mnn...
[CP] Perks up-
[Doc] smiles in relief- Shall I get the bacon? That usually works.
[Lie] Her hair finally stops past her feet-
[Notch] It is really pretty though.
[Lie] She finally opens her eyes-
[CP] Beyond relieved- Lie...
[Doc] Gets into her field of view - How are you feeling?
[Lie] - I...  I'm not sure...
[CP] Is anxious for her to actually get up-
[Doc] You had a really close call. Cp's NOTCH got you with his deletion sword. Flux saved you and I put you in a new body. It's okay to take it slow until you're used to it.
[Lie] - Who?
[Doc] Flux - points at her- She's practically your mother in law.
[Lie] - I'm sorry, I don't recognize her...  Do I actually know you?
[CP] Is getting a sinking feeling-
[Doc] Wilts - I'm Doc. I'm practically your best friend...
[Lie] - I don't remember...
[Doc] Your coding is complete... maybe your features took the dominant repair spot and your memories are still in the queue? Dammit! I meant for it to be the other way around. Stupid transitional number sequence parameters!
[Lie] Starts pushing herself up-
[CP] Releases her hand-
[Doc] Well, then we'll just keep you safe until your memories start compiling. I'm Doc, this is my mate Deerheart. This is your husband Cp, his dad and his dad's girlfriend; Notch and Flux. You are Lilinthia, but everyone calls you Lie for short.
[Lie] - I know my name...  But...  Husband?
[Doc] Yeees....
[Lie] - I'm sorry, I just...  Can't recall anything
[CP] Slowly stands and starts backing away, shattered mentally, not realizing how much of an effect his wife not remembering him would have on him-
[Notch] Takes his hand and squeezes it gently- Give her time... she did almost die.
[CP] - I...  I just...  No...  Not my Lie...
[Doc] Cp... I swear to you everything is there. It's not finished!
[CP] Slips out of Notch's grip and wanders off-
[Lie] Watches him confused-
[Doc] Deerheart, watch her for a mintue please- runs after Cp-
[CP] Is leaning against the wall near the lava bath in the lab-
[Doc] Cp...
[CP] Gives no response, he is absolutely broken without his wife-
[Doc] She'll remember. You just have to be patient.
[CP] - My Lie...  I just, want her back to normal...
[Doc] Cp, she's alive... and she'll be herself again, but you have a chance to help her now when she really needs you. Be there for her.
[CP] - I don't know how...
[Doc] Yes you do. Just stay with her. Answer her questions, bring her anything she needs. Show her what a husband should be.
[CP] - Just...  Not right now...  I don't think I can...
[Doc] Cp. It isn't about you right now. She was there for you while you regenerated. You ate her out of house and home and she ran herself ragged trying to take care of all your needs.
[CP] Slides down the wall, hiding his face away, it's one of the few rare times he wants to be a cat-
[Doc] Hugs what xe can reach- I need you to be strong Cp. I know this is hard.
[CP] - She's just, not right, not her
[Doc] She's there. I promise. And I want you to be there when she wakes up.
[CP] - Just leave me be for now
[Doc] Please promise me you'll stay here. You can go wandering in the castle if you want. There's plenty of places to be alone. I'll call Steffan and ask him to take care of Lie's house.
[CP] - I don't know...
[Doc] Please?
[CP] - Just fuck off- His threat doesn't have it's usual bite
[Doc] Takes a step away. - Just trust me. I'm going to go tend to her now.
[CP] Says nothing in response-
[Doc] Goes back up into the lab with heavy hearts-
[Deer] Has pulled Lie's hair back so it's out of her way-
[Doc] Regards her with a sad smile. - what do you remember? Besides your name?
[Lie] - How to talk?
[Doc] That's all?
[Lie] Nods- I assume walking, but haven't tried that yet
[Doc] Whelp... you are definetly staying with us. - xe gestures at the caged mobs- All these creatures are rather dangerous. There's worse outside at night, so don't go wandering outside alone, and not at night at all.
[Lie] - Oh, alright.  Are there other safe places?
[Doc] Inside is safe as long as there's enough light. You'll find this place incredibly large and it's easy to get lost. So stay with a buddy for now.
[Lie] - Do I live here?
[Doc] No. But you've just come off of some serious surgery, and as your doctor, I want to keep you under observation.
[Lie] - Oh, alright...  Will my...  Husband?  Be staying here?
[Doc] Yes. He just needs a few minutes to himself. He's pretty upset that you don't remember him.
[Flux] Nudges Notch a little, not certain what they should be doing-
[Lie] - I don't want to cause anyone distress...
[Deer] - It's okay, your husband has difficulty with some emotions, that's all
[Notch] He's just sad Lie... you're his world. He went crazy when he heard you'd been deleted.
[Lie] - I was deleted?  What exactly happened?
[Doc] Your husband's greatest enemy thinks that Cp is dead. He tried to kill you too, and me, just for spite.
[Lie] - We have enemies?
[Doc] Enemies and friends. You're a glitch, and so am I, and Cp,  some people don't like us just for that reason. Our glow marks us- points at hir eyes
[Lie] - My eyes glow?  It's a glitch?
[Doc] Yeah, it's uh... hang on. - Xe rummages in a trunk and finds the little mirror xe used on Splender - Here. This is you. - Xe holds it up so Lie can see her reflection-
[Lie] Stares at it for a second- They actually do glow...
[Flux] Whispers to Notch- We should probably go check on CN...
[Notch] Okay... you're probably right. Lie? I have to go for a bit. Doc and Deerheart will take care of you for now, okay?
[Lie] - Oh, um, okay...
[Doc] Everything will be fine. We'll get you a bed and some food -
[Lie] Her stomach rumbles at that point-
[Doc] Come with me. - Xe leads down the steps where the gold room makes a shortcut to the kitchen, and they'll have to walk past Cp.
[CP] Has hidden himself in the side room-
[Lie] Is giving the lava a bit of a wide berth-
[Doc] Walks loudly so Cp will hear where they're going.
[Deer] - Lie, the lava won't hurt you
[Doc] Though I'd stay out of it for now. It's rather messy and tends to cool on your skin and pull hairs when you try to get it off.
-The polar bear bumbles up to the bars as they pass by-
[Lie] - So it's painful either way?
[Deer] Tosses the bear some fish-
[Doc] More annoying then painful. You just have a low body temp for a Herobrine. It stays liquid on me and Cp.
[Deer] - CP usually removes it for you...  Then again he's also usually the one that pushes you in
[Galvantula] Is sitting on the edge of the table with their feet dangling.
[Doc] get off the table please.
[Galvantula] skitters up on the celing instead. - Buzzzrp!
[Lie] - What is that?
[Doc] Part pet, part friend. That's my spider Galvantula.
[Galvantula] Cocks head at Lie. - zzzzrp?
[Doc] Amnesia.
[Galvantula] Sad noise-
[Lie] - You can understand it?
[Doc] This one yes. I have a lot of critters. After a while you start to notice patterns in their noises.
[Lie] - I see...  Do...  Do I have any pets?
[Doc] Long slow look - Yes. You have a lot of pets.
[Lie] - Then shouldn't we take care of them?
[Doc] No, it's okay. Notch and Flux and your... friend Cn will tend them for now.
[Lie] - Oh, alright...- She takes a seat at the table
[Doc] Goes in the kitchen and starts making an especially fragrant breakfast hoping to lure Cp in as well.
[Deer] - Need any help love?
[Doc] If you want to, please.
[Deer] Slips into the kitchen and bumps Doc with her ass playfully as she passes them to start up another furnace-
[Doc] Can't help but smile as xe dances around hir mate in the small space. The two of them moving in a harmony of knives, steam and flames, and then, finished food.
[CP] Is standing out in the hallway-
[Doc] Doesn't look at him directly for fear of making him leave. Xe lays out plates for anyone who wants some and piles the food on platters that end up on the table.
[Lie] - Mmm, smells delicious
[Doc] Gives her a fork and a plate. - Take whatever you want. I always have lots of food. - Xe starts fixing some for hirself.
[Lie] Puts food on her plate and begins eating-
[CP] Is just watching her from the shadows-
[Doc] at Deerheart- I take it Buff has Yaunfen? Did you feed hir first?
[Deer] - No, but I left them with plenty of snacks
[Doc] That works. At least he can keep up with our little dragon.
[Lie] Finds the bacon- Dragon?
[Doc] Oh yes. We've got a quite a few on this seed. The biggest one is a friend of yours actually. But if you run into a small red one with lots of limbs or a thin tan one with a pastel belly in the house, it's okay, they're friendly. The tan one is our child Yaunfen and the red is Crim, a buddy of ours.
[Lie] - Are there any that aren't?
[Deer] - Probably Pinwheel
[Doc] She's got a mostly pink body and a triangular head. But she lives next door and doesn't normally come in here without her guardian. Pinwheel is just a child with a bad attitude.
[Lie] - Oh.  Is there anything else I should know right now?
[Doc] I'm not sure...
[TLOT and Steve] Come down the steps-
[Steve] Runs to Lie and hugs her- Lie! You're back! [TLOT] Is scanning her- not... entirely?
[Lie] Squeaks- Um...  Hello?  Do I know you?
[Steve] Looks hurt - I'm Steve... we're friends...
[TLOT] Her mind is... sleeping? She's not all there my lamb.
[Doc] She has amnesia. Her files aren't damaged, but they're not done compiling either.
[TLOT] Oh.... - his eyes flick to Cp-
[CP] Shifts a bit uneasily under TLOT's gaze-
[TLOT] Speaks to him mentally- Cp? I can still feel her. Give her time.
[CP] - She's just...  It's not her
[TLOT] It is her. She's a psychic brine. Those sequences can take time to come back online if they're damaged. I should know.
[CP] Just looks uncertain-
[TLOT] Turns his full gaze on Lie and touches her mind-
[Lie] Feels it a little and panics some, not sure what it is-
[TLOT] Easy now. I'm just checking on you.
[Doc] This is the native Herobrine of this world. Herobrine The Lord of Tears, TLOT for short. He made you a brine, gave you your powers. He made me a brine as well.
[Lie] - Made me?
[Steve] You were a human like me. Well, a female human. And he gave you the eyes.
[Doc] You were in a lot of pain, and his actions made it stop.
[Lie] - Oh, well, thank you then
[TLOT] You're welcome Lie. - He slides into the chair across from her and takes some food.
[Steve] Sits down next to him and their hands lace togeather.
[Lie] Notices their hands- Are the two of you...
[Doc] They're married as well.
[Lie] - Oh, alright
[CP] His thoughts wander to his shared heart as he puts his hand over it-
[Doc] When a Herobrine chooses a mate, that person is their world, and losing them... it can spell death for a brine. We wither without our loves...
[Lie] - Wait so, does that mean that my husband...
[Doc] Nods at him in the doorway-
[Lie] Looks over at him but CP refuses to meet her gaze-
[Doc] He's just sad. Trust me when I say, you are everything to him.
[Lie] - I see...  I think I'm rather full now...
[Doc] Has eaten as well. - I think I want to show you something. Come with me please.
[Lie] Curious, stands and follows Doc-
[Doc] Leads her through the magma room and up the stairs into the shrine. Xe indicates the map. - This is our world. The parts we've mapped at least. The unexplored areas are infinetly larger. You're right here - Points at the castle, which looks very small in comparision and barely fills a fifth of one square of map.
[Lie] Scans the map- Is this our city?  What is everything?
[Doc] There aren't any cities, just towns. TLOT is king of the nearest ones. Here, here and here.
[Lie] - Then what is everything surrounding this town?- Points to Konahakagure
[Doc] Houses that belong to our friends and neighbors. - xe starts pointing out the little pips and telling her who they belong too.
[Lie] - So many others
[CP] Followed them but is standing a distance away, keeping out of sight-
[Doc] You'll remember them all in time. I'm sure of it.
[Lie] Glances outside- It's getting dark...
[Doc] We're safe in here, come with me upstairs, the view is impressive.
[Lie] - Lead the way- Follows Doc once more
[Doc] Heads up into the museum and takes her out on the balcony - If something spawns near us just run back inside. - The castle is lit from all the flaming netterack on the rooftops and the lava flows from the bridge. The orange glow reflects in the bay below them.  The land is bathed in moonlight and theres a whisper of a storm blowing in from the ocean side. The closest other building is the skull faced structure that houses the Nether portal and Mb's room. The brine himself is sitting on his roof with Celine. Placidly looking at the 'stars' wheeling by overhead.
[Lie] - It's so beautiful!
[Doc] I like to think so. And we rule it gently. My antlered mate is the physical embodiment of the world. We work together to keep everything and everyone safe and happy.
-There's a bit of noise as the mobs spawn in and start shuffling about in their own aimless ways.
[Lie] Looks nervously at the mobs- Are you sure we're safe up here?
[Doc] Yes. We shouldn't linger long, but they don't like the light.
[Lie] - Alright, thank you for showing me this
[Doc] Leads her back inside. All around them are framed items and knick-nacks from their various exploits, as well as gifts from other brines. Nearby is a vase with examples of nearly all of Lie's flowers.
[Lie] - Those flowers are beautiful
[Doc] You made them Lie. Created them from nothing. It's one of your powers. And each of them serves a purpose, even if it's a small one.
[Lie] - I made those?
[Doc] Oh yes. Even this one. It's dangerous, but one of my favorites. -Xe indicates a lust blossom. It's safely behind glass, and the nectar dripping from it's bloom makes a soft pattering noise on the block below it.
[Lie] - What does it do?
[Doc] Makes an undeniable heat. If you have a mate you'll go to them as if your life depended on it and make love until the fire is quenched.
[Lie] Turns a bit red- Sounds...  Intense...
[Doc] You used an aggressive version of it to help defeat the NOTCH that tormented TLOT and his husband once. He'll be eternally grateful to you and I and Cp because of it.
[Lie] - An aggressive version?  Like, it grows really fast?
[Doc] Makes a pod shape with hir hands [still missing a glove and a finger] - It's got a mouth that can bite and inject the nectar. And strangling vines with thorns.
[Lie] - Oh...  What happened to your hand?
[Doc] Oh... I gave part of it to you. A bit of special coding to help keep what happened from happening again. It's all right. I can make a new finger. [The other glove is poking out of hir coat pocket.]
[Lie] - I'm sorry, it must have been a bother...
[Doc] Oh no! I'm happy to help! I'm just glad to have you back in any form. I gave up worse just making a distraction so that Flux could escape with your code. But I can fix myself. It's no problem.
[Lie] Doesn't look so sure-
[Doc] Do you want to watch? It's no big deal.
[Lie] Shakes her head- No, it's not necessary...  Actually, I'm starting to get kinda tired...
[Doc] Okay. Let's find you a bed.
[Lie] Follows Doc, unaware of CP following them once again-
[Doc] Takes Lie back down to the lab and sets her up in one of the recovery rooms - TLOT and Steve's room is right there, just yell or think really loud if you need help with anything. I'll come find you in the morning. Feel free to use the water tub if you feel stinky.
[Lie] - Thank you, I hope you rest well also
[Doc] Passes Cp in the hallway and stops for a moment.
[CP] - What?
[Doc] Take a room. Any place is fine. My home is your home anytime you need it.
[CP] - Shut up asshole
[Doc] I'm glad you're feeling a tiny bit better. - gives him a small hug.
[CP] Doesn't move-
[Doc] lets go - Good night Cp.
[CP] - Whatever- He just continues to stand there
[Doc] Walks back to hir room-
[CP] After a moment goes and sits on the floor right outside of Lie's room, listening to her breathing as she sleeps-
[Doc] Finds Deerheart on the bed. Wryly- Can you spare a pixel for your mate?
[Deer] - Absolutely, take what you need
[Doc] Thank you - Xe runs a hand over hers, copying just a few pieces and multiplying them in hir open palm. Xe rolls them like a cigar and sticks the little tube on the stump of hir missing finger before giving it a test wiggle. - Oooch...
[Deer] Takes Doc's hand and kisses the newly repaired finger- There, all better
[Doc] I'm better because you're here. That fight scared the nether out of me on several levels. Poor Lie.... we owe Flux so much.
[Deer] - Yes, we do.  Do you know what happened to the locket with CP's heart?
[Doc] I have it. For now.
[TLOT and Steve] pass by on their way back from the kitchen. The two share a wordless glance at the sight of Cp.
[Steve] Sneaks forward and sets a rather meaty sandwich on his knees. [since he didn't eat anything.] And then scurries off to his room.
[TLOT] Pats Cps hand and goes to walk away as well.
[CP] The plate just slides off his leg onto the ground, he's in no mood for eating even though he probably should, the sandwich then pops into his inventory-
[TLOT] Softly- take care of yourself. She needs you more now than even she realizes. I noticed there's still something personal missing from her skin that needs to regrow, besides her redstone heart.
[CP] Gives TLOT a slightly confused look- Her clothes you mean?
[TLOT] Your collar.
[CP] Tenses a little and then looks away, remembering his earlier want of it because of how strong his emotions were-
[TLOT] I get the feeling that will return only when she remembers what a powerful responsibility it can be.
[CP] - And why not any of her other responsibilities?
[TLOT] Because that's the one that's hers alone, and closest to her hearts.
[CP] Just bows his head with a huff-
[TLOT] Sweeps a hand over him with a soft suggestion, just to ease his hearts a little. - Be patient my friend.
-The night is only about half way through and Lie is having difficulty sleeping.  She tosses and turns and eventually gets up with a sigh.  She steps out of the room and CP has already retreated out of viewing distance.  She approaches the two tubs and sits down near the water on, running her hand through the warm water.  As she relaxes she rests her hand on the divide between the two tubs and that relaxation is shattered as her hand slips and plunges into the lava.  As she flails some of her hair ends up in the lava too-
[Lie] - Ah!  No no no...- She looks at her hand and there's a decent amount of hardened lava on it.  She's not sure what to do and is surprised when a much larger hand comes from behind her and touches the hardened lava
[CP] - Stay still, I'll get it off
[Lie] Sits there and watches as CP's fingers glide over the lava, softening it and allowing it to splatter against the stone floor- Thank you
[CP] - It's nothing, just, try to be more careful.  This stuffs hardens on you pretty quickly- He turns Lie's hand over to make certain that he got everything and then he moves onto her hair, running his fingers through it and snagging the bits of lava there
[Lie] Leans back against CP which catches the male brine off guard- If you really are my husband, then why have you been avoiding me?
[CP] Sighs softly- I'm not
[Lie] - Then why haven't you spoken to me before now?
[CP] - I just...  I know you aren't fully you, not yet at least, and it's painful to see
[Lie] - I'm sorry...
[CP] - That's not what you need to apologize for, but the real apology can come later when you do remember
[Lie] - I did something wrong?
[CP] - You scared the crap out of me by doing something stupidly reckless
[Lie] - Oh...
[CP] - Now go on, get back to bed.  You need your sleep
[Lie] - Can't
[CP] - Why not?
[Lie] - I just can't.  I keep waking up and tossing and turning
[CP] - Then read, you love doing that
[Lie] - But I'm comfortable right here...
[CP] Just huffs a little and sits there-
[Lie] Scoots back a little more so she's in CP's lap-  You're so warm...
[CP] - It's one of the many reasons you normally won't let me out of the bed on cold mornings
[Lie] - Mmmm- She's beginning to drift off to sleep again
[CP] Notices and just stays there, even once she's fallen asleep he lets her rest on him for the rest of the night-

5.0 out of 5 stars Five dark stars for this Beautiful LEGO follow up Beautiful LEGO 2: Dark continues Mike Doyle’s original mission of showing readers that LEGO bricks can be used to create some of the most unique and interesting sculptures in the world.Similar to the first book, every page is filled with one or more crisply photographed, full-color images. This time around, however, Doyle has chosen to focus on slightly darker themes. Rather than cats, bunnies, unicorns and rainbows, this book is full of bugs, skeletons, creatures, castles and creations that are slightly dark in nature. Actually, “dark” is more of a guideline than a rule as there’s plenty of architecture, mecha-bots, dinosaurs, motorcycles and miniature works in this 300+ page beauty.Among my favorite sections of this book is an area dedicated to shadow play, where LEGO creations are photographed silhouette-style. Another favorite is an area dedicated to chocolate and other indulgences, which includes Doyle’s own creation and cover shot, titled “Sickening Sweet.”Castle and gothic fans will enjoy two areas titled, “Dark Towers and Desolate,” where numerous structures are built using studs-not-on-top building techniques, resulting in a cobbled, rickety look that’s quite unique. If any theme truly permeates this book, it’s science fiction. Creepy, tentacled and menacing creatures abound, many featuring pieces from the Technic and Bionicle themes. It’s important to note this book does not include building instructions, nor does it contain many words, short of photo captions and chapter headers. Taken as an inspirational book for adult builders, this is fantastic, although I would not specifically recommend this book for the younger set.Read more › Go to Amazon
5.0 out of 5 stars “A must-own book for anyone who loves artwork or LEGO” As an avid AFOL (Adult Fan Of LEGO) and the photo editor for BrickJournal magazine, I get a chance to keep up with many of the amazing things that people create with the iconic plastic building toy known as LEGO. No Starch Press, the publisher of “Beautiful LEGO 2: Dark” has been supporting the community for several years and the number of books that they release annually has grown dramatically. It is a testament to the community and to the product that the community loves. A few years ago, it would have been a bit surprising to see a “coffee table” quality book about LEGO art be published, but the success of the LEGO Company and the wide-spread use of social media has led to an explosion in the AFOL community. As a result, we now have “Beautiful LEGO.”In his second book of the series, Mike Doyle explores more amazing community creations, focusing this time on what Mike describes as a “thematic filter to the curating process: Dark.” Mike had an online contest to get submissions from the community and then picked (subjectively) the items he wanted to display. The result is an absolutely STUNNING hard cover book filled with some truly amazing artwork, from dozens of AFOLs all around the world. The book has a fairly short introduction, which gives you a feel for how Mike approached designing and laying out the book. Then he jumps right into the art. There is very little text at all and the pages are laid out in a very logical and artistically pleasing way. Some photos are full page with bleed and others leave plenty of white space on the pages. As an amateur photo editor, I can attest to how difficult it can be to build a photo book.Read more › Go to Amazon
