-generally agreed upon but ness is DEFINITELY a conspiracy theorist. i think he was into conspiracys since he was younger, starting off with more silly ones like birds aren't real and the moon landing is fake and then getting into deeper ones with maybe a bit of a lean towards true crime. then when the local pizzeria had missing children well...
-mike takes abby to the diner for her birthday bc what can u do in a small town! they give a free slice of cake for birthdays and have the workers come around your table to sing except ness is the only one to genuinely enjoy singing it and he's also arguably got the best voice out of all the workers (or at least he does in mike's opinion)
-abby ships it. yknow how little kids are almost too observant and then proceed to say the most cryptid things?? yeah, she notices mike smiling and making more small talk with ness than with any other waiter they get and suddenly shes playing matchmaker

So firstly, I wanted to say congratulations on making me want to read the novels by Cyprian Silkwood that don't actually exist, because the descriptions of them remind me of House of Leaves or maybe Focault's Pendulum, and I /love/ finding books that are dense and winding and experimental to dig my teeth into. It's like catnip to me. Every time they come up I get the urge to read them and then can't. I would like to join Barty's book club, please. I would like to read Nonsense Abstruse, also.
Secondly, I feel compelled to tell you that your characterization of Evan has become canon to me to the extent that it's actively difficult to imagine him differently; it's at the point where I worry that if I ever tried to write him it would be difficult to prevent it from coming across as plagiarism (not that I would like. Intentionally steal the more specific details or go forward with writing it if I felt that that would be actual plagiarism, it's just that that's His Character to me now and it would be difficult to imagine him behaving differently in a broad sense, except that with characters that have little enough canon content it feels like individual writer's versions can become very distinct very quickly). Tldr he lives rent free in my brain now and it's all your fault (complimentary)

Btw the only conceivable way Mike and Eleven would break up in s5 is in a very dark timeline where Eleven goes so far off the Must Protect Everyone, Must Do Anything To Make Sure I’m The Only One Who Can Get Hurt, self-destructive, desperate deep end that she ends up saying some nasty unforgivable shit to Mike in an effort to get him to not follow her down to sacrifice herself to end the plot, at which point he would only let her go because the fact she would even say that to him means she’s so far gone nothing he could say or do would dissuade her from this path she has chosen and he owes it to himself to try to just move on despite how broken he now is for not being able to protect the person he loves most from herself.
Of course in this AU they both still survive and after a year or so spent apart are healed enough from the trauma of the Everything that they can reconcile and get back together hahahaha not even death could truly separate them soulmates baybeeeee

I've heard a lot in trauma-centered care trainings and learnings the phrase "hurt people hurt people" which aside from being kind of a pedantic tautology is true. People who have been hurt often subconsciously reënact those traumas on others, merely recasting the roles.
But! I think it's also important to acknowledge how hurt people can Heal people. How in many ways it is only because we have walked over the metaphorical or literal broken glass of our own lives that we can sit with and hold a safe inclusive space for the discussion or venting and eventual integration of trauma.
