Spoilers for season 2 of good Omens

Okay this season really showed that Crowley is actually not Lucifer he was most likely the Archangel Raphael

Number one, all the freaking times that he was making people fall in love. Even in season 1, you can see this, but especially this season when Maggie and Nina were drawn together, he was smiling happy as can be Raphael is lesser known as the Archangel of Love and Marriage.

Number two when he opened the folder Muriel couldn't open it but he could and he even said heaven doesn't change their passwords meaning he still has access like he would have all those years ago meaning he had to be a pretty powerful angel quite likely perhaps the archangel

Number three they kept mentioning one thing how much Crowley likes to rescue Aziraphale how much he is about rescuing people even Aziraphale says that he enjoys rescuing me. Raphael is the Archangel of protection and guardianship

Archangel Raphael has serpent motifs with the Healing Side. He was known for carrying a staff with a serpent wrapped around it.

I seriously think he was the Archangel Raphael and it's why he's never really fit in with Hell because how the fuck do you put such an angel amongst the demons

Also, all of them in the elevator and him giving a grin to Michael and Uriel felt like a sibling that had gotten away with something. If he was Raphael, he would by technicalities be Siblings with Michael and Gabriel as they were the first three angels made by God at the time.

Crowley sitting in the Bentley after Aziraphale went in the elevator wondering why he can’t be Aziraphale’s Heaven if Beelzebub can be Gabriel’s. And he compares his relationship with theirs, how even the Supreme Archangel loved someone enough to abandon Heaven, but Aziraphale never considered changing his mind to stay with Crowley. How Gabriel and Beelzebub had found something that mattered more than choosing sides, but Aziraphale ultimately chose a side that wasn’t Crowley, even after they had decided to be on each other’s side. 

Recently, I have been thinking a lot about one of the question Neil Gaiman responded to in his blog. That question being the choice of a kiss not being used to display beelzebub and Gabriel’s love for one another. What I found truly striking ,and now have grown to appreciate, is the powerfulness of choosing them to enjoy music rather than kissing. Some may call this choice to express their love that way as “subtle” but I personally disagree. While exploring many queer fandoms, I’ve noticed that a relationship never becomes “canon” in the eyes of the community unless there is kissing (or other sexual ways of showing love), but what I love so much about Good Omens is the way the characters show love through other means. Aziraphale and Crowley never had to kiss to prove to the fans that they were in love. It was clear from the start, or at least to others, as the series progressed it became clearer. I really love this choice, because intentional or not, it changed the way many looked at gay relationships. I could further elaborate on how a man and a woman together can be canon through mere glances ,but a queer couple is expected to kiss ,though I’d ramble a bit too much for that.

All in all, I truly appreciate this choice to tell the story like this.
