If we interacted for the first time today via boops and are unlikely to run into each other again because we don't have the same fandom niches I just want you to know our boop bond is real and if I ever see you randomly come across my dash I'll think to myself "aww my boop bud" and send you warm thoughts and good vibes
More from Aidan Scott's interview for The Permanent Rain Press:
I: "Tell me about Helmeppo and Koby and how did you see their initially apprehensive relationship grows to friendship. Like, what are the key moments for this pair in Season 1?"
A: "They are so... I've always imagined them as coming from the same kind of level of status. Firstly, I think Helmeppo - this is my own thinking - but I think Helmeppo was bullied as a kid and I think he projected that as he got older as a form of control and I think Koby - Morgan can probably answer this a lot better than me - but I've always seen him kind of being pushed to the side. So I think they both come from a place of not being respected at all, but they manifested in these two complete opposite ways of being. And I think they know what the other has been through and they can see it in each other, but they have these two facades that just don't work but, underneath them, there's stuff that works and so it's this beautiful enmeshment of doesn't work but it works but it doesn't work and hopefully, as the seasons go on and as the manga has done, they become the best of friends. And you see that trope a lot in stories and I think it's really fun. I think that's why people love them so much: it's because you're marrying these two completely opposite people but they're fundamentally the same. And it's like the yin and yang kind of thing and you don't get to see that a lot. They're the underdogs... of life. The underdogs of life that are trying to make sense of it and they're doing it together or are at least for now beginning to do it together and at finding each other through that."
I: " [...] you mentioned about having they kind of see each other what each other have been through and that's so true because Koby makes a comment at the bar scene they share in episode 7, where he insinuates Helmeppo could relate to the kind of Garp and Luffy relationship, but Helmeppo is quick to kind of deny that..."
A: "Yeah and I think it's cool because [...] everything's cool between them and then, all of a sudden, he says something that really hurts him and I think it was like a big spotlight going 'I see you, you can't hide' and I think Helmeppo felt seen in that moment and I think it's scary to be seen and so that was just a little glimpse of yeah how kind of far he'd come within only a couple of episodes. And also you know the kind of friendship and intimacy between the two characters of Koby being like 'I get you, it's okay, you're okay, you don't have to be anything and I understand this is about you' and I think it's interesting to watch someone else react to that defensively, because if he was just like 'oh yeah buddy you know let me tell you'... you know, it's cool to see someone go back and revert their original more comfortable self. I find that interesting to watch."

Helmeppo helping Koby with his t injection because he broke his fingers and can't do it properly himself, but the problem is Helmeppo is really scared of needles and is shaking and crying trying to do the procedure
They both are just yelling at each other the whole time before Helmeppo finally does it
Koby just prays that he'll be all better next week somehow
Helmeppo had no reason here to side with the Straw Hat Pirates but Koby.
He's not defending them, he's just taking Koby's side. He went like: you saved my life and I'll give you my unconditional loyalty. Even if it's to defend the pirates who ruined my family and haircut.
I don't think he had yet reached the moral point to think that Marine's treatment at the SHP was unfair. He just wanted to be loyal to Koby and start being a better person.
