I’ve seen so many fanarts with similar idea but I just listened to the Colony again and couldn’t help myself. I am certain Miss Prentiss wrote a winking emoji after writing ‘keep him’.
Bonus under the cut based on this post that @sparkzstar tagged me in <3

the people deserve to know my random tma headcanons
- melanie and jon are the exact same height. it pisses both of them off.
- daisy is the oldest archival assistant, she doesn’t tell anybody her birthday tho (except basira)
- tim has a nose ring, dont argue he just does
- tim and sasha pretended to get engaged to get free food from restaurants more than once
- melanie and jon have the same birthday. it pisses both of them off.
- jon steals everybody’s laundry and has worn at least one item of everybody’s clothes
- martin’s crush didn't start until after mag22, jon’s started after martin told him about his cv
- jon is literally incapable of standing still
- elias made his bet with peter in ep100
- something in my heart and in my soul is so certain that jon lied about how many statements he took during his intervention

Obligatory tma halloween headcanons post:
tim and sasha are OBVIOUSLY barbie and ken from the barbie movie (other people have said it before and i'll gladly support it)
martin is some horribly obscure costume from a book or a poem no one really knows about and he gets a bit sad that no one knows who he is but then sasha does a quick google and subtly drops hints to everyone to go be like "heyyyy martin, amazing x costume" and then he cheers up
jon just refuses to dress up and everyone (especially Tim) bullies him like "oh amazing socially inept man who's desperately trying to seem good at his job costume!! you've got it spot on!!" and he's so furious that he puts on a costume
and in every iteration of these headcanons, martin is FLOORED at whatever he eventually dresses up as and i am all for that i will eat that shit up
he's so starved for interactions with his crush that he goes feral over jon in non-office clothes
favourite jon costumes include: normal clothes plus cat ears, normal clothes and everyone thinks he's come as a vampire, normal clothes in the later seasons and sasha would be like "jon its not ok for you to dress up as a homeless person" with a shit eating grin and jon's like ...what
bonus - jon doesn't need to dress up cause he's already got his costume - it's someone who's good at their job!!
elias LOVES halloween i bet that man is like fuck yeah i can freak out my archival workers in a whole host of new ways - plastic spiders around the office for jon, little clown dolls for tim, eyes EVERYWHERE and its so gaudy and terrible and everyone despises him
also he really doubles down on calling jon the archivist
i feel like tim secretly hates halloween now but in like early working at the institute, he went along with it cause martin put out a little pumpkin on his desk and sasha smiled at it
melanie fucking loves halloween, she's a legitimately terrifying costume, let's go through the haunted house kinda gal and i love that for her. she's a lets watch all three human centipedes in one night and see what happens kinda gal
daisy and basira despise it cause of all the weird shit that people pull on halloween (and they're on edge that they'll be called for some section 31 shit for all of it)
jon also hates halloween for a similar reason - the increase of joke statements and general taking the piss about the magnus institute
yeah that's all i got. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Magtober Day 26 - Found Family
Quick! Post the oops! all avatars! au where they're just really tired coworkers trying to survive cryptic instructions from eldritch horror bosses!
My goal for Magtober is to do a sketch every day according to the prompt. I've been suffering from that headspace where every peice needs to be a finished piece, so I'm tryin to break that.
Prompt list by @emerald-emerlad for tmatober 2023!
Previous | Next
Mini infodump below cut :]
Avatars:
Oliver [he/him] - Avatar of the End
Jon [he/they] - Avatar of the Eye
Helen [she/it] - Avatar of the Spiral
Jude [she/he] - Avatar of the Desolation
Tim [he/him] - Avatar of the Slaughter
Mike [he/him] - Avatar of the Vast
Martin [he/him] - Avatar of the Lonely
Sasha [she/they/it] - Avatar of the Stranger
Gerry [they/he] - some weird both but none inbetween of the Eye, the End, and the Hunt, but I like him lots so I say he gets to stay
Mini plot points:
-It's MUCH more lighthearted than TMA the podcast
-Oliver is still there when Jon wakes up, they proceed to become besties
-Mike and Jon become close friends because Jon's not STUPID and doesn't tell Daisy that Mike is 'inhuman'. Therefore Mike doesn't die, and they get a chance to ✨bond. ✨
-Jude and Mike are besties too, but they would die before letting you know that
-Jude [sometimes with assistance from Helen] scares off Elias whenever the group goes to rescue Jon from the depths of the Archives. [She just threatens to burn down the Archives-]
-Gerry doesn't want to be burnt just yet, because he wants to go out on his own terms, not desperation left over from Getrude trapping him in that book. Maybe help the new archivist, he's could use some assistance and is the teeniest bit pathetic
-As a result, Gerry kinda hangs around the archives while Jon is comatose and becomes close friends with Tim
-Tim and Sasha doesn't die (obviously), instead Tim survives the unkowing. His time in the hospital is a much shorter stay than Jon
-He finds Sasha after they go to stop the Unknowing, cracked and breaking into pieces in the ruins, and helps her get back to the Archives
-Sasha and Helen become besties. That's it. That's the story.
-Jon and Helen are also closer, because Jon doesn't completely shut Helen out when she mentions how similar they might be
-Tim determinedly keeps driving the Lonely away from Martin, which annoys Peter Lukas greatly
-Sasha's too scary for Peter to try and make any more drastic measures though
-EVERYONE bullies Jon about his newfound discovered crush on Martin, while at the same time they are very sympathetic to Martin because this poor boy has been pining for SO LONG over this prick /aff
-Jon also cuts his hair short again after his coma, because he's not too depressed to take care of it

hold on. hold on. martin shaking as he goes through his interview, waiting for the moment that elias picks up on something he says that’s just slightly wrong and calls him out for lying on his CV. martin walking out of the interview with no hope of getting the job, going home, and continuing to fill out applications. martin getting the call that he got the job a few days later, and his heart sinking because he doesn’t know how he’s going to keep lying. martin getting dressed for his first day in the archive, looking at himself in the mirror before he leaves, asking himself, what is he doing, he doesn’t know anything about this work, he’s going to look like an idiot, everyone is going to know. martin resolving to just do his best, because fuck it, that’s all he can do, and then he fucks it up on the first day, he lets a dog into the archive, he’s threatened by his boss, he thinks he’s going to get fired. martin falling asleep crying that night, the weight of his crushing imposter syndrome suffocating him, and he’s not even able to reassure himself that he’s perfectly qualified because he’s not, he’s never been in academia before, and he lied his way into the archive. martin realizing that he’s going to feel like this every day for the foreseeable future, there’s no way out, because he is not going to push his luck trying to find another job, it’s a miracle he got this one, even if no one takes him seriously, and his boss hates him, and every time he turns his back he feels someone looking at him with pity. martin going out with tim and sasha, trying to convince himself that they really are this friendly, and they want him to be there, but he can’t shake the feeling that they just feel bad for him, because they read his shitty reports, and they hear jon yelling at him every day. martin realizing that he is on his own every day, because the only way to quit fucking up is to keep his head down and play nice.
I think I need to lay down.

Can I unlock the JonTim rant?
RARARARRARARARARARRARA I AM ACTUALLY BARKING I AM SO GLAD YOU ASKED 😁👁️
JonTim. First of all, to understand these two it is vital you Know they never dated. Never. Not once did the two of them date. Not for lack of feelings, they had plenty, but because they just never got the chance. They never had time. They were doomed, they were an unchangeable tragedy.
I firmly believe pre season 1, before our beloved horror podcast even starts taking place, pre promotion in Research Days they had stupid little crushes on each other. No bad feelings like in later developed seasons, purely wholesome feelings of nothing but adoration and awe. They were actual friends, the amount of shit those two got in together out following up on statements or whatever, they were like no one else. Nobody else had a bond like those two, not even Tim and Sasha. They were each others person.
I do think when Tim had finally gathered the stones and was ready, he planned on asking Jon out the next Friday. But then they got promoted.
Season One.
They never had time. Jon got busy and despite his overall done-with-everything-and-everyone vibe in S1 it never really came about when it was Just Tim. Just them alone again. Maybe in a sarcastic way but never really. Tim put off asking him out, figuring they were busy now and there would be a better time. He didn’t know now was the best time he would get, because every time after would be worse. If he had known maybe he would have asked. Maybe later he thinks about that in kicks himself in retrospect. Maybe he thinks about Jon when he presses the detonator.
Season Two.
S2 was perfect. The angst is setting in. Jon was paranoid. Everyone was a little paranoid sometimes after the Prentiss incident but Jon was the worst of it. Tim had started seeing him outside his house for god sakes. Jon was so suspicious of Tim, and less because he truly thought he was up to something and more so because he needed to Know Tim wasn’t. He needed to Know the one person who had been there wasn’t doing anything. Obviously Tim took it as suspicion and that drove wedge through them a bit. Their argument in episode 65 is SUCH a lovers quarrel energy. It’s SUCH a lover quarrel. Because you can love someone and be as angry as they were at each other. Those things can be felt simultaneously, and believe me when I tell you I do wholeheartedly believe they never loved anyone else the way they loved each other. Tim and Sasha were iconic, Jon and Martin were iconic and undeniably in love, but it wasn’t the type of love Jon and Tim had, nothing could ever rival that, and nothing ever did. If there was an option when Jon was happy with Martin in the safe house, happily in love if he could have Tim back alive, back with him but Martin wouldn’t be with them, he would hesitate.
Season Three. (The Grande Finale)
Tim has never been angrier. He is so alone. Nobody understands, not even the one person who used to understand everything, his everything, didn’t get it anymore. Tim’s lost everything. He doesn’t have anything left for him anymore. I’m not even sure if most of S3 he even knew Jon still loved him, but he knows in the end. Despite being in the Unknowing, Tim knows. He’s aware at the end. He knows Jon loves him more than anything, and he knows he feels the same. He knows then that there has never been a time Jon did not love him. He knows he’s glad to do this, to get back at something and his last moments to be a big ‘Fuck You’ to these entities, this thing that took his brother and in turn his entire life, but he knows he’s going to miss Jon, if you can miss from the grave. Even if you can’t he will miss Jon enough that he can. He knows he’s never going to see his love again, never will he make him laugh, or get stoned somewhere in the Institute like they did in Research Days, Tim regrets in these last moments never asking Jon. He thinks of how different things would have been if he had. And he doesn’t want to think of that anymore. He thinks of everything he’s doing, how now that this is what’s happening he won’t (can’t) change it, and grins, his last moments the biggest ‘Fuck You’ anyone’s ever seen. He thinks of a time he made Jon laugh in Research Days, remembers how pretty he thought Jon looked laughing, and he clicks the detonator.
Season Four (Encore.)
Jon wakes up six months later from a coma. Once he can form a coherent thought it’s about Tim. Where is he? What room is he in? After everything, after all this they had survived, and Jon knows Now. Now he has to make a move, he has to hold and be held by his friend, his lover. It’s a good thing Georgie and Basira are there when he wakes up, he can ask them. Ask them what room Tim was in. When he asks if Tim is alive it’s just for clarification, he knows what answer he’s going to get, that Tim was somewhere in the hospital. His heart shatters when they’re silent. Oh. He’s just woken up from a six month long coma and the love of his life is dead. No this couldn’t be happening. Please. Not Tim. He gets dizzy and he can’t see straight, too consumed by the hard hitting feeling of grief because for the first time ever, Tim is not there. He’s nowhere. He isn’t anymore. He was all he wanted and he did not exist anymore. He was ready now, he was going to ask Tim. Even now Tim was gone they paralleled each other, Jon was ready to ask and he couldn’t anymore, and Tim was ready to ask and felt he couldn’t. Death couldn’t stop them from being intertwined irreversibly with each other. Nothing could.
Season Five (honourable mention.)
Jon still feels him around. He’s happy with Martin but some night when he’s staring up at the ceiling he is reminded of earlier times of being absolutely baked at work with Tim, staring up at the ceiling of his office while they lay on the floor. He thinks of Tim laughing, and realizes he can still imagine Tim’s voice perfectly. And he misses him more than anything. He can feel him around the safe house sometimes, thinks he hears his voice. Sometimes he hears Martin’s footsteps and turns around faster than you’d ever see because for just a moment, he thinks it’s someone else. He loves Martin. But it’s not the way he loved Tim. Nothing will ever be like how he loved Tim. He just wants Tim back sometimes. He wants his best friend. He wants his lover back. And sometimes he can hear Tim’s voice so clearly in his head, imagines what he’d say if he could see Jon now. He can feel Tim’s hand gently in his face, wiping the stray tear away like he had done once before in research days. He can feel himself burying his face in Tim’s chest or shoulder. He missed Tim. Nothing would ever make that feeling go away. Tim would always be, and always had been his lover. Because you don’t need to be dating to be lovers, as long as you do love each other you are lovers. And no one could take that love from them. Jon obviously thinks about Martin and being happy Somewhere Else when he dies, but for a quick fleeting second, the last second he is alive, he thinks about Tim. And how maybe if he ends up Sonewhere Else it would be him Jon saw.
I did cry writing this.

The Magnus Archives
Season One Notes and Speculation
Main Cast
Spoilers for Season One Below the Break!!!
Martin Blackwood- Helper for Jonathan whom he doesn’t like. Speaks Polish and Jonathan has disdain for his Latin. Claustrophobic. “Blessed relief if you ask me.” Jon about Martin being out with a stomach sickness. Martin comes back in MAG 21, Freefall with squishy squelchy stuff that Jon reacts to with “God- Martin!! What the hell is- what are these things?!” Ran into Jane Prentiss in MAG 22, Colony in which he stays holed up in his house for 13 days as Jane and her parasites kept trying to get in. He is invited to stay in the room Jon sleeps in during late nights post his incident. He feels stuck in the web of the archive. Jon thought he was a ghost in Infestation (MAG 39). He writes poetry and thinks tapes have a sort of lofi charm. It’s why he has the extra recorder. He feels incredibly guilty over leaving Tim and Jonathan in the tunnels, starting to tear up over it after apologizing in Human Remains (MAG 40).
Elias Buchard- The head of the Magnus Institute, doesn’t want Jonathan and crew looking into the Lukas family because they fund the institute. He hates Jonathan more than Martin and thought the parasites were an over reaction in Infestation (MAG 39).
Sasha James - Helper for Jonathan whom he doesn’t mind. Sets off the fire alarm to try and survive the worms. She joined as a practical researcher. Wishes she could’ve quit ages ago. She finds the table with the crazy geometric patterns and then the tape recorder glitches. Infestation (MAG 29). A feminine voice says into it afterwards “I see you.” The scream heard on tape is Jane Prentiss dying as seen in Human Remains (MAG 40).
A feminine voice says into it afterwards “I see you.” The scream heard on tape is Jane Prentiss dying as seen in Human Remains (MAG 40).
Jonathan Sims- Head of the Magnus Archives, rather detached. This being said in Colony (MAG 22) he is shown to have started turning over a new leaf as he offers Martin his room in the archives. In Skintight (MAG 28) he shows an improvement in people skills as he treats the statement giver with a bit more respect than Naomi. He is adamant about not becoming another mystery, to make sure his successor knows exactly what happened. Infestation (MAG 39). Feels like he’s being watched when he records real statements. He also used to smoke according to Elias.
Tim Stoker - Helper for Jonathan whom he slowly seems to grow a distaste for, remaking he’s thankful for him being out of the office. He’s into Robert Smirke’s architecture as of A Distortion (MAG 26). Found tunnels in the archives and went crazy with gas to kill the worms in Infestation (MAG 39).
Other Characters
Sebastian Adekoya- Friend of Jared Hopsworth who delivers MAG 17, Bone Turner’s Tale. Died 2006, crushed on the road.
Angela- Witch from MAG 14 Piecemeal who slowly devoured the parts of Lee Rentoul and Paul Noriega through cardboard boxes with severed articles of various body parts
Asag- Fire mythos thing from First Aid
Sarah Baldwin- Victim of the Angler Fish (MAG 1) who later reappears in Skintight (MAG 28) being super quiet and also talking with a shadowy figure. She seems to remove her skin and then pull it tight and staple it quite regularly.
Breekon and Hope- The delivery boys from the end of one of the mags that give Jon a spider web lighter. Anatomy Class (MAG 34).
Antonio Blake- The Dreamer from MAG 11 Dreamer who saw a strange version of London and Gertrude dying in TMA FAKE NAME, KEEP EYES OUT
Edwin Burrowes- Catholic priest from Burnt Out. In Confession (MAG 19) he says a prayer in the house and feels heat. Then he starts to pray for himself and a demonic presence says through him “I am not for you. I am marked.” He proceeds to eat a human at the ushering of some unknown figure in Desecrated Host (MAG 20)
Michael Crew- Returned The Bone Turner’s Tale to Chiswick Library in MAG 17, The Bone Turner’s Tale
Harriet Fairchild- Went skydiving with Simon in MAG 21, Freefall. Said Robert was gone for 15 mins.
Simon Fairchild- First shows up in MAG 21, Freefall and tells Robert to “Enjoy sky blue” before sending him to a weird groundless realm. Robert Kelly is then later ate by the sky.
Raymond Fielding- Housed many people on Hilltop Road and was missing his right hand when he died
Trevor Herbert- Killed vampires for a living and died of lung cancer in the lobby in Vampire Killer (MAG 10). Dead as restated in Taken ill (MAG 36)
Naomi Herne- First ever person to make a statement with Jonathan and survived the Lukas’ in her ep, MAG 13 Alone
Timothy Hodge - Man who slept with Harriet Lee and heard her explode. DEAD AS OF A Distortion (MAG 26) for got turned into hive meat.
Jared Hopsworth- Friend of Sebastian Adekoya who assaults him consistently, first mentioned in MAG 17 The Bone Turner’s Tale. He, for instance, turns over an entire cart of returned books. He takes the book and runs out. He comes back later in the episode with more bones. And apparently more limbs
Mary Keay- Gerry Keay’s mother
Gerard (Gerry) Keay- Burns the Lightner books (seen in Page Turner) and was found covered in eyes and burn marks in MAG 12 First Aid. He puts a stop to the invisible flame.
Moira Kelly- Sees her son Robert Kelly get ate by the sky in MAG 21, Freefall
Robert Kelly- Simon Fairchild tells him to enjoy sky blue and then he gets ate by the sky in MAG 21, Freefall
Melanie King- Ghost hunter who sees Sarah Baldwin do her skin tricks in Skintight (MAG 28).
Jergner Leitner- Book maker and has a library, seen in Page Turner. Reseen in MAG 17 The Bone Turner’s Tale. Actually seen as a man in Old Passages (MAG 35) in which he asks people to dig underground.
Evan Lukas- Fell in love with Naomi Herne and then died.
Nathaniel Lukas- Owns the boating company for the Tundra as of Boatswain’s Call (MAG 33).
Peter Lukas- Captain of the Tundra as seen in Boatswain’s Call (MAG 33).
Agnes Montague- Witch lady with the hand tied around her with a chain, died the same day as the tree getting pulled down and apple melted
Julia Montork- Daughter of Robert Montork and witness of MAG 9- A Father’s Love
Jane Prentiss- Red dress lady from Squirm. She seems to be a hive for parasites and is no longer the actual Jane Prentiss as of Colony (MAG 22). She uses Martin’s phone in that episode to pose as him while trying to Squirm him. She says at the end through his phone, “Keep him. We have had our fun. He will want to see it when the archivists crimson fate arrives.” A statement by her exists somewhere in the archives. Hive (MAG 32) has her explaining how she felt itchy all the time and all the holes throughout her. “You can see it, and log it, and still never understand it.” Presumably she becomes what she is today after sticking her arm into the nest and screaming out in pain. She dies due to Elias making the CO2 go off in Human Remains (MAG 40).
Joseph Rainer - The man who survived the shell blast with Wilfrid in The Piper (MAG 7).
Maxwell Rainer- First appearance is MAG 9 in which he is described as the “defrocked pentecostal leader” who became a cult figure for The People’s Church of the Divine Host
Gertrude Robinson - Former Archivist, died, presumably in The Archives. Oh boy! So, in Burnt Offering (MAG 37) it is revealed her hair and image was used in some twisted altar thingy and a dude who smashes a bottle there has all his things go up in flames.
Lesere Saraki- Nurse from MAG 12 First Aid who feels watched after the incident in the hospital
Mikaele Selesa- First appears in Piecemeal (MAG 14) where he tries to sell something to Norigea. Reappears in Lost and Found (MAG 38) as he sells Andre Ramao a vase.
Michael Shelly- “How would a melody describe itself when asked?” He needs help, likes giggling at Sasha. Says that the hive (Jane Prentiss) is rash. Knew Jon, Tim, and Martin’s names. Shows how to kill the worms in A Distortion (MAG 26).
Robert Smirke- An architect. He worked for Jergner Leitner to build an underground club as seen in Old Passages (MAG 35).
Nathaniel Thorp- Immortal being from Cheating Death (MAG 29)
Places, Concepts, and Organizations
Breekon and Hope Deliveries- Company that takes away the coffin from MAG 2 Do Not Open. Also the same company that gives the church the pale yellow stool in MAG 20, Desecrated Host.
Formula of Sacred Geometry- The intricate patterns we’ve been seeing that Jonathan says there are different schools
Hill Top Road- The place where Burnt Out takes place, had the apple underneath the bleeding tree in the intricate pattern box
The Magnus Institute- Founded 1818, has a series of tunnels under its building and seems to slow the horrors when inside its building.
Open Skydiving- An organization that seems to have never existed. Fairchild’s are connected to it
The People’s Church of the Divine Host- A small cult that grew around the defrocked pentecostal minister, Maxwell Rainer, in London during the late 80’s and mid 90’s
St. Thomas Hospital- Had the fire incident from First Aid and the nurse still feels watched there
Speculation
My inclinations about the horrors having certain types seems to be spot on. You have the Leitner Tomes, Sacred Geometry, Prentiss Parasites, Breekon and Hope distinctless entities, the Hands, Strange Music- even if I’m not spot on you can definitely group some of the ongoings together.
As for characters, Jonathan is slowly becoming a better person as he unlocks the skill empathy by being subjected to horrors himself. I believe the Lukas family will play a big part in the upcoming season as Elias seems to becoming more of a big player and with Elias comes more talk of funding and whatnot. Something I’d like to point out is that the institute is most likely not a good organization as all of the tendrils led to the archives and even Michael seems to hint that the Hive of parasites are right in wanting to destroy it.
Speaking of, Michael himself is then drawn into incredibly questionable territory. He used the attack to rid the archives of his recorded files and taught them how to fight Prentiss. He wants the institute around which just confirms to me that it has to be a rotten group.
As for where the plot goes from here I’m not entirely sure beyond more Lukas and Micheal involvement. We now have the added worries of Sasha and her experience with the Not Sasha voice we heard as well as questions as to who killed Gertrude Robinson as WELL as why she was being used in the horrors rituals.
Now for just my fun thoughts- I adore Martin. I think he’s my favorite character. He has so much thought and empathy put into all he does. Like the dude was running scenario after scenario in his mind to make sure everything would be okay when Jane attacked- and it sort of was because they fended her off and saved Tim. Alexander J Newall also kills his voice acting- I love how timid sounding he is and the delivery of his lines to Jon about being sorry for leaving him behind- AAAGGH it literally tore my heart into bits.
Anyways that’s enough rambling. Stay tuned for my season 2 notes and ideas!

So i actually did try writing this at one point! Here's the draft I found. Liminal season because no one is dead and everyone is fine (I assume the Unknowing was stopped without a hitch as well :) Anyway, here ya go! MORE CURSED CAT AU!
When Martin Blackwood opened the door to the Archives with his keycard at 5:45 in the morning, the last thing he expected to see was the entire cast of the archival assistants, and his boss, (and unrequited crush) all standing around in the bullpen, and clearly engaged in heated conversation. Martin blinked, his mouth opening a little in shock. Late nights were depressingly common in the Archives, but this was… new. And concerning. It was just Jon staying late, that Martin knew. So what was everyone else doing here?? Not only was it incredibly early, it was Saturday! Jon saw Martin from across the room and his expression shifted from tense to something like relief. But the irrational warmth that flooded Martin’s chest disappeared the moment he scowled, pushing his way between Melanie and Daisy. “You’re late,” he said, his usual sharp tone maybe a little sharper this morning, and Martin had to fight back the annoyance that rose up.. He bit back his retort - ‘No, actually, you’re all early,’ because Jon was already moving away again. Martin shrugged it off and started unwrapping his scarf,  soft wool he’d knitted himself, and then Tim was there, appearing at his elbow with two mugs. “Welcome to the madhouse,” he said by way of greeting, and thrust out a cup of tea. “I see you also got that phone call.” Martin took it, noting the grogginess in Tim’s eyes. “Yeah, I did, what’s that about?” The hot ceramic warmed his chilled hands and woke him up further. Tim groaned. “I don’t know, none of us could get a proper story out of him, he just kept insisting we all had to arrive first before he’d tell us… and that meant you, and you arrived 15 minutes late.” Tim sighed, rubbing at his eyebags. “It has to be something important though, why else would Jon have dragged us out of bed like this?” He paused. “I know he’s Jon, and paranoia and manic episodes are very much the cours de jour with him… but this is different. It better be, or I’m going to kick him where it really hurts.” Martin opened his mouth, then closed it and followed Tim’s gaze as Jon stood at the front of the room. The murmuring all died off. “Thank you all for coming. I know it's early for most of us, and I appreciate that you’re all here. Now, I have some… frankly baffling news to share.” Tim spoke up from where he was leaning against his desk. “It's not another bloody apocalypse is it?” Martin watched Jon, waiting for his mouth to twist, his expression to sour. But he didn’t react the way they’d expected over the past few years. He looked… thoughtful. “I don’t…” And there he paused. “I don’t know.” Martin saw Tim and Sasha exchange glances, saw Daisy shift in place, and he could feel the tension growing in the air. That was impossible. Jon… From what Elias had gloatingly said once, the whole point of Jon was that he Knew things. Melanie was next. “What do you mean you ‘don’t know?’ Aren’t you the literal equivalent of an eldritch search engine? How do you just Not know??” Jon made a face. “Firstly, that is not remotely how it works, and secondly-” He reached down behind the desk and picked up something that was covered in a towel. Martin strained to see, just as everyone did, as he gently placed the towel clad thing onto the desk. Was it a group of Leitners? That could explain why Jon was being so careful and why it was covered. Or maybe it was an artefact, and he couldn’t break it or touch it with his hands. But from the way Jon settled the thing without so much as jostling it, that theory didn’t fit. No, if Martin had to make an educated guess… he’d say that whatever was under that towel was alive.

What A Way To Start A Year
T/im learns a little something about karma, friends, and care. Seems even J/on isn't quite as cold as he seems.
A M/agnus A/rchives fic, set somewhere pre-season 1. Shouldn't have any spoilers, but proceed with caution just incase~ (nothing late game, just character dynamic things)
Welcome to "I meant for this to be a little drabble and I wrote 3k words"~ Having a bit of hyperfixation and burn out as I started this new year, soooo I decided to make T/im suffer <3 Not promising quality seeing as I wrote this all in the span of tonight, but consider it a lil 'too long' drabble, and happy new years!
Best way to start off the new year, giving one of your lil guys a lil snz <3
Characters: T/im, M/artin, S/asha, and J/on. Word Count: 3.9k
(CW: There is some swearing, and light descriptions of high fevers)
Christmas had been good this year, maybe the best it had in a long time. Life of the party as always, Tim had enjoyed getting to spend it with his old, and new, colleagues. On top of that, Jon had been laid up with a pretty awful cold for a couple days leading up to it, so he wasn’t around to crush any brilliant ideas Tim came up with.
This led to the budget receiving a fairly substantial hit, though many researchers donated to the cause when they learned this borrowing wasn’t exactly approved. Hell, even Elias had pitched in, claiming something or other about ‘archivists fit for the job not exactly growing on trees’, and wanting to ‘save some of Jon’s sanity’.
“Tim? Are you even listening to me?”
Pulled back to the conversation at hand, Tim lifts his gaze to the taller man fidgeting nervously in front of him. Martin was never one for confrontations, and usually the first ‘no’ would have been more than enough to lead to a string of apologies for even asking. Today however, he seems to have grown a spine. At the worst possible moment.
“Oh come on,” Martin continues, missing the groan slipping from Tim’s throat. “Even Jon agreed to it!”
“I’m not really in the party mood,” Tim retorts, leaning back in his chair. “Besides, Jon didn’t agree to celebrate, he agreed not to stop the celebration. Not the same thing.”
From across her desk, Sasha gives a low chuckle. “He’s got you there, Martin.”
“Can you at least give it a little thought before turning it down?” Martin insists, completely out of character for someone usually so eager to please.
What the hell has gotten into him today? He didn’t even seem to enjoy himself that much at the Christmas party. Sure, he had a few drinks and mingled with the staff, but he’d left as soon as it was over, not waiting around for chatting like Tim and Sasha.
Clearing his throat with a grimace, Tim casts Sasha a dark look as she chuckles again. Knowing far too much, as usual. Especially when it came to him. If it was anyone else, Tim would hate it with all his being, but given that it’s Sasha… well it’s a welcome invasion.
Still, it would be nice if she didn’t rat him out. And to Martin of all people, well let’s just say he saw what happened when Jon was sick. Yeah, passing on that one. Attention is great, Tim lives for it, but the coddling? Not really his style.
“hiEH– guh…”
Damn, that had been a close one. Thankfully Martin seems oblivious, though Sasha sits up in her chair, reaching down into a drawer to fish something out.
Turning his focus back to Martin, Tim provides an offer, desperate to just have the interaction come to an end.
“Fine, I’ll show up, but I don’t want any part in planning it.”
“Oh of course, I’ll handle all the details, I mean it’s just a new years party, how much can there really be to do? I mean food, timing, gotta make sure we have keys to the building– oh but if Jon’s there, that shouldn’t be a problem…” Martin says, rambling beginning to fade into the background as Tim finds himself unable to-
“hH– ek’CHhiew!”
“-Oh, bless you!” Martin says, his own thoughts long forgotten.
Unable to get a word out, Tim merely waves a hand, ducking into his shoulder for another, “eTChhew!”
“Bles-”
And another, “iTSChh’ew!”
“Oh ble-”
And another, “ehh– kTChh’iew!”
Silently Sasha stands, handing Tim a pack of tissues. Must have been what she was looking for in the desk. Once again, knowing more than she should, of course she picked up on his patterns.
Accepting them gratefully, Tim pulls a few out and roughly rubs at his nose, pointedly avoiding Martin’s worried gaze. Gripping his still trembling nose through the tissue, Tim sucks in a tight breath through his teeth, holding for a beat, before finally spinning around in his chair for a final-
“hH’ETCSHh-ieuw! Whew, bless me.”
Martin’s hands are fidgeting again, seemingly unsure of what to do with himself as Tim gives his nose a light massage through the tissue. He’s aware enough not to point it out, but is nearly shaking with the effort of suppressing his concerns.
With a sigh, Tim meets his eyes. “I’m fine, Martin. I always sneeze like that.” He leaves out ‘when I’m sick’. It also happens if he’s suffering allergies, though he doubts that would be a point in his defense given it’s the middle of winter.
“Yeah he’s not kidding,” Sasha pipes up, throwing Tim a wink as he glares. “You should hear him in spring, once it starts he can be going for hours.”
“I wouldn’t say hours, Sash-”
“Remember the cherry blossom incident?” Sasha interrupts, sending a sugary smile over to Martin. “He was wrecked for the rest of the day, I was almost certain he was never gonna stop. Even considered giving a statement here, that reaction was almost supernatural.”
Tim winces, an audible moan slipping from his lips. “We swore to never speak of it again.”
Sasha laughs, Tim giving her another playful glare from behind his tissues. “You swore that, I did no such thing.”
Thankfully Martin doesn’t pry, having enough common sense to offer a polite chuckle, and offer some excuse about ‘planning’. Still, he can’t help himself from shooting a meek “I hope you feel better soon” over his shoulder, Tim giving him finger guns in return.
“This is karma, you know,” Sasha calls after Martin’s outside earshot. “You took pleasure in Jon’s suffering, so now it’s your turn to suffer the same fate.”
“No, thi- eTChhew! Scuse me,” Tim says, rubbing his nose with the tissue one last time before depositing it in his nearly overflowing trash can. Another tissue is plucked as his eyes begin to water, nostrils flaring with reckless abandon. Never just one.
“kTChh’uew! hh’iTChh –uew! Tihhckles… eTCHh! etchh’uh! hiehh–”
The last one toys with him, tracing the rims of his nostrils, back up his sinuses, a gentle itch that seems to burn against every inch of his nose. Finally, with a desperate gasp, Tim ducks into his wrist for the last, “heh’ATChhh –iew!”
“Many blessings. Sounds like you need them,” Sasha offers with a wince, tossing another pack of tissues over, which Tim catches with a single hand, the other still gripping his nose.
After taking a moment to clean himself up, Tim shoots her his signature smile, ignoring the eye roll she shoots back. “Where was I?”
“Admitting this is karma?”
“It’s not karma, it’s lack of common sense. Going to a party where a coworker is sick, and still drinking and eating the same meals” Tim says, aiming a rough cough into his sleeve.
Sasha winces once more at the quality of the cough, hands rummaging through her drawers once more as she tosses a reply back. “And yet you’re the only one who caught it. Seems like karma to me.”
Closing the distance between them in a single stride, Sasha places a hand on Tim’s shoulder, voice softening. “It’s two days till new years, why don’t you go home and try to get some rest? I doubt Martin will object, and I’ll cover for you with Jon.”
Before Tim can form his rebuttal, Sasha places a box of paracetamol and a jar of vapor rub in front of him. Nodding his thanks, Tim lets out another harsh cough into his arm, leaning as far away from Sasha as he can manage.
With a light rub to his shoulder, Sasha walks to the door, holding it open with a pointed look. “Go home, you sound awful.”
“Alright, alright. I got the message. hH’ETchhiew!” Tim says, gathering his care package and beginning his walk down the hallway.
“If I hear the rest of that fit happening in this building, I’m telling Martin how ill you really are,” Sasha calls after him, a smile flashing over her face as Tim holds up his hands in mock surrender, before ducking back into his arm with another muffled burst.
—
“You look horrible.”
Tim manages a weary smile from behind the tightly wound scarf. “Thagk you.”
Martin winces, standing in the doorframe, seemingly oblivious to the winter chill soaking into Tim’s bones. Even just the walk from the train station was hell on earth, standing out here is doing him no favours.
Turning away with a throat scraping cough, Tim manages to clear the congestion enough to finish the sentence somewhat understandably. A great feat, given how fast his voice is retreating. “May I remind you that I’m only here because you insisted.”
“Right, well I… I didn’t know how bad-” Martin begins, realizing spreading across his face like a wildfire as a chill leaves Tim breathless. “Oh god, I’m making you freeze to death while you’re already this sick, I’m so sorry, come in, I’ll go make you a tea.”
Tim nods his thanks as he piles inside the warm institute, cursing his aching lungs as each breath of warm air seems to burn them from the inside out. Martin rushes away, nearly crashing into a few researchers as he makes his frantic dash for the kitchen.
The scarf is reluctantly removed, a shudder running through Tim’s back as the warm air does nothing to soothe what he’s now certain is a growing fever. A few researchers wave to him, offering some idle chit-chat as he makes his way inside.
For the most part, people give him a wide berth, apparently he looks as bad as he feels. Tissues in hand, gripping them like a lifeline, Tim finds his way to a couch and lets himself sink into it. The party buzzes around him, fading into background noise.
Martin returns soon after, the mug vibrating slightly as he attempts to steady his hand. “I wasn’t sure what kind you’d want, we have a pretty limited amount, but I have a few extras in my desk– oh I could have probably found one for colds and flus, I’m not sure which this is, I thought cold before but you look-”
“Martin,” Tim interrupts, voice cutting uncomfortably through his raw throat. “Can I have the cup?”
“Oh, right, sorry!” Martin says, a sheepish grin crossing his face, nerves more than anything else, as he hands Tim the mug. Tim gives another appreciative nod, taking a cautious sip.
The warm liquid feels like heaven against his throat, and he barely manages to choke back a whimper. The flavour is still a mystery, Martin never actually got to that part. Given how little he can taste at the moment, seems it’s gonna remain that way. Still, the heat beginning to warm his chest is a welcome relief, and Tim has to fight to keep his eyes from drifting shut…
“Watch out!”
The voice rouses him, his eyes snapping open just in time to witness Jon dropping to his knees in front of the couch. The realization doesn’t sink in for another minute, Tim blinking the tired from his eyes and trying to figure out why people are staring… and why there’s a hand on his finge–
Oh, the tea. Thankfully Jon’s reflexes seemed to kick in just in time, his hands guiding Tim’s cup to the table next to him. Judgement clouds the boss's eyes as he turns back, fully ready to chastise Tim, no doubt. Jon opens his mouth, one hand beginning to point, but as his eyes scan Tim’s form, his demeanor changes instantly.
“You don’t seem well.” Jon’s voice is still firm, but with a hint of something Tim can’t quite place. On anyone else, he’d call it concern. On Jon… perhaps concern isn’t far off, though the underlying criticism of the statement irritates him.
“I wonder why that could be? It’s almost as if someone came to the Christmas party sick enough to fall asleep standing. Twice.” Tim says, sarcasm lining his words, alongside the congestion he can’t seem to fully shake.
“Well in that case,” Sasha chimes in, cheerful voice a natural antithesis to the misery coursing through Tim’s system. “Seems you’re halfway there!”
“Hey, I was lying down, that’s hardly the sahh… same thing– hH’ETchh!”
“Here we go,” Sasha says, already turning on her heel to find a tissue box as Tim’s hitches increase in desperation.
“aHTChh’ew! gn’tchhew!”
“Bless,” Jon offers, a brief confusion crossing his face as Sasha laughs, shaking her head.
“He’s not done,” She says, handing over the tissue box.
Tim grabs for it blindly, too caught up in the fit to even attempt dignity. Still, the eyes on him do leave him with a hint of embarrassment, and the onslaught is muffled as best he can manage. “hH’MMpshhew! eMPFShh’ieh! hh’MFSHhueh!”
Blessings sound out from the room, Tim managing to wave a hand towards the ones offering them, eyes still watering. As the fit seems to stall, he lowers his tissues, red nose now visibly twitching.
“Are you alright?” Jon asks, the hint of concern from before now plainly evident. That’s frankly more alarming than it should be, and Tim finds himself wanting to… reassure the boss.
“I’m okay, it’s juhh… j-just… huhh–” But it seems his nose has other plans, a tissue being raised once more as Tim paws at the appendage. “‘Scuhhse me, I still have… hahhve to… to… hiHh– eTCHh’ew! hk’ASCHh–oo!”
This time the tickle fades with the final pitchy sneeze, Tim letting out a low groan as he mashes his nose into the ever growing collection of tissues he’s clutching. A few people call out final blessings, Sasha laughing out hers as Tim’s face goes red once more.
Martin picks this time to enter the room with drinks, Tim letting his eyes flutter shut as the focus shifts off his misery. A gentle touch keeps him from drifting off to sleep, prying open an eye to find Sasha settling onto his left.
“Careful, don’t want to catch this,” Tim manages, leaning against his right shoulder to muffle another stream of chesty coughs. Sasha winces as it goes on past the realm of comfort, her hand finding his back.
“Don’t worry about me, I haven’t earned this cold, I didn’t make use of Jon’s or your suffering,” She says, the playful tone not masking the growing worry in her posture.
While she can read him like a book, she’s no mystery to him either. The tension in her fingers, absentmindedly stroking patterns on his back. The way she subconsciously tries to support his body weight, despite them both sitting. The look in her eyes when he manages to stall the coughing long enough to meet them.
With this brief respite from the attack, Sasha takes the chance to bring Tim’s tea back, his fingers wrapping around the warm mug. The first few sips burn, his lungs protesting, begging to return to their efforts to expel all the irritation. By the third, however, the warmth is spreading once more, easing the spasms.
“Alright?” Sasha asks, beginning to stand from the couch. Tim nods his reply, taking another slow sip. “Think you’ll make it till midnight? We’ve still got a few hours to go.”
He nods his approval again, not yet trusting his voice enough to make an attempt. Sasha simply smiles, easing back into the party that– Tim had almost forgotten existed. That fever must be worse than he thought, given how loud it is. A fact that’s now pounding against his head in harmony with his heartbeat.
The party continues on, Sasha and Martin taking turns checking in on Tim as he slips rapidly in and out of consciousness. Seconds turn to hours, and before he knows it, it’s two minutes to midnight.
As Tim blinks against the harsh fluorescent lighting, it’s Jon that stands before him, hand hovering near his side. Tim begins to speak, breaking off into a cough as his voice comes out rough with sleep and congestion.
“What’s up boss?” He manages with the second attempt, not missing Jon’s wince at the nasal quality.
“You simply look… well, the festivities are nearly over, I was just inquiring as to…” Jon seems to get stuck, eyes wandering down to the couch as he finishes. “I know you took the train here, I was seeing if you needed an escort home.”
“How kind, I’d be delighted to have your accompaniment,” Tim responds, the wit clouding the fact he… hadn’t actually considered needing to go home. Jon seems to take this answer as satisfactory, ignoring all the sarcasm as he gives a tight nod and an out of practice smile.
From across the room Martin calls out, something about a countdown. Tim attempts to pull himself to a stand, finding Sasha’s arm around his waist, guiding him to the wall. Leaning against it, he lets his rough voice join the chorus as they count into the new year.
Despite how the lights and noise had pounded into his skull, everyone chanting in unison helps Tim realize that… there actually aren’t that many people here. Aside from his coworkers, there’s only a few researchers, and Elias is not in attendance.
Honestly, thank whatever cosmic being may exist for that one, he had been none too fond of Jon’s arriving sick. Tim shudders to think what he would have said about this state. He shouldn’t have come, but… something about how insistent Martin was… well he just couldn’t disappoint that loveable idiot.
Somehow Tim finds he’s managed to keep up with the counting, despite being worlds away in his thoughts. As they approach the final numbers, a feathery sensation begins to spread through his nostrils- no.
Absolutely not, this is not the time. It’s never just one, there’s not enough people here, someone’s gonna notice. And I mean, it’s not like he’s hiding the fact he feels like death, but… drawing that much attention is also not the goal.
“Five! Four!”
“hiehh- h’ngTchh!” He manages to stifle the first, the congestion pounding in his head as the tickle seems to only get worse.
“Three! Two!”
“I cad’t– nNDtch! nGTCh’uh!”
“One–”
As the cheers begin to erupt, Tim ducks into the tissues with a scraping, “ehg’TCHhiew!”
“Happy new years!”
“yiEShh’iew! etchh’uh! hH’AESHH –oo!” Tim dips into his hands again, managing to sink down against the wall as he lets out a congested blow, ending the fit.
“What a way to ring in the new year,” Comes Sasha’s voice, her form blocking the light from Tim’s eyes as he looks up, fever blurring his vision.
“Shud ub.”
“Christ Tim, you sound awful,” Jon adds, his form appearing behind Sasha’s.
“Thagks boss,” Tim retorts, groaning as he notices a third form, Martin’s nervous fidgeting easy to spot even from this angle. Martin remains silent, though his eyes seem to hold more concern than any of them, and… guilt? Or maybe that’s just the delirium.
Glancing up to meet Sasha’s gaze, Tim offers a weary, “Tibe to go hobe?”
She nods softly, kneeling to help him to his feet, Martin wordlessly taking his other arm. Jon stands off to the side, hesitating. What for, who knows. All Tim can focus on is one step after the other, just gotta make it home, then he can sleep. For the rest of forever, at this rate.
As they get to the door, Martin helps wrap the scarf around Tim’s neck, forcing him to lift it from its perch against Sasha’s shoulder. Sasha, for her part, supports his weight with ease, she was always stronger than she looked.
Martin keeps casting glances towards Tim, obviously fretting over something. Too tired to manage his usual charm, Tim gives Martin the softest look he can manage. “Jusd say id, please. You’re makigg me nervous.”
“I’m so sorry I asked you to come, you’re obviously so unwell, and I know I didn’t really know that at the time, but I should have, or at least texted and checked in, I just… I wanted us all to get along so bad and I thought if you came it would mean more fun because you’re always so lively and good at talking to people and-”
Tim holds up a hand, eyes glazing over as Martin stops short, breath coming almost as rapidly as Tim’s. After a minute goes by, Martin starts to open his mouth, seeming confused by the interruption, before nearly jumping out of his skin as Tim ducks into his fist.
eTCHh’ew! hH’YEAShh –iew! Sorry, I feld those cobigg… waid– hih’ETCHhew! heAYSHh’oo!” Tim ducks down again, Sasha grabbing him tighter to support the harsh shudders as he attempts to keep his balance.
“Oh bless you,” Martin offers, voice coming out timid. Tim gives him, what he hopes is, a warm smile despite the fever taking hold of the last corners of his mind.
“If I didn’t wanna cobe, I would have stayed hobe. I dod’t blame you.”
Martin nods silently, a relief seeming to flood his face. Taking his place once more supporting Tim, they move towards the exit. Opening the door, the first wave of cold floods the entryway, and a chill so violent runs through Tim that both Martin and Sasha take a step back to brace him.
It’s now that Jon speaks up, voice strained with a type of worry Tim hadn’t heard before. “No, we’re absolutely not doing this, I refuse.”
The trio turn towards him. Though perhaps a more accurate description is that Martin and Sasha turn, Tim simply goes along for the ride. Martin mumbles something about ‘no other choice’, but Sasha asks what Jon’s on about.
“It’s too cold out there, it’s the middle of the damn night, there’s no way I’m letting him go home like this.”
“And what do you suggest we do as an alternative? He can’t stay here-” Sasha begins, pausing as Jon turns towards her.
“Why not? I’m the archivist, this is my archive,” Jon begins, pausing for a moment, before adding, “Well, Elias’s, but I hardly think he’d suggest we send an employee home in this weather while they’re this sick. That’s just bad management, he’ll freeze to death before even reaching the train.”
As if to confirm this assumption, Tim shudders violently, ducking into his chest with a tired, “hh’eshhew! eTCHh’iew!” followed by a heavy sigh. Martin mumbles something about covering, but quickly silences himself as Tim begins to tremble again.
Sasha gives Jon a look, seeming to read him for any hints of doubt, perhaps searching for an ulterior motive. After a brief pause, their eyes meeting, she gives a tight nod, approval of some kind.
“Come on Martin, let’s get him back to that couch, he can sleep there for the night,” Sasha directs, Martin nodding his acceptance.
Tim manages to catch snippets of the conversation as they get him settled. Jon fetching him a blanket he keeps in his office. Martin providing some more tea. Sasha grabbing tissues and medication for when he wakes up. Something about Jon sleeping in his office so he’s not alone, and Sasha coming in early to help him home.
With his final bout of consciousness, Tim holds up a hand, the conversation immediately pausing. “Thagk you guys. And… esSHhh’ew! And, I’b sorry.”
All three stare at him for a minute, before Sasha breaks first. Her laughter fills the silence, Martin joining in soon after, and even Jon letting a few chuckles slip out. When they’ve finally collected themselves, Sasha gives Tim a warm smile.
“Sleep well, Tim. I’ll come fetch you in the morning.”
With a content sigh, Tim lets his eyes drift shut again, his consciousness fading to the soft hum of his friends in the background.
Alright, so maybe coddling isn’t quite so bad after all.

Flickering Shadows
read it on AO3 at https://ift.tt/MWcbx8y by Rauchendes_GNU Martin sighs and stills his hands. “Are you going to notify me every time our master’s son works on his magical skills? Because I don’t know if you noticed, Tim, but he does that a lot.” “No,” says Tim, dragging out the vowel, “not every time. Only when he’s shirtless.” It’s moments like this where Martin very much regrets telling Tim and Sasha about his utterly unreasonable and unprofessional crush on his superior. “I’m not going to ogle the young master’s torso while he’s in his studies.” “Why not? Please Please go on abt deaf jon I am interested 👀
I’ve been WAITING to talk about this so here we go-
So to start off Jon is hearing impaired, in my personal headcanons, legally deaf. Which is a condition he was born with it wasn’t from any accident. Thanks to his grandmother’s efforts he learned to sign and read lips from an early age so he is skilled at both and sometimes prefers that to his hearing aids.
- In aus where he meets Gerry at a young age he’s impressed with the fact that the other boy is selectively mute and also knows sign. It adds to his puppy crush.
- Recording statements and compelling people can have an effect on his aids so he tends to take them out. Something to do with that static we hear. But he also just prefers not to have the added input while he tries to work.
- Martin didn’t realize he was deaf for a good while. He kept bringing him tea while Jon was absorbed in his work (with his hearing aids off) and thought he was just being ignored. Tim LOST IT when he found out, laughing so hard as Sasha explained the misunderstanding.
- Martin resolved to learn BSL after that, putting a surprising amount of effort into it. He’s the most fluent of the archival assistants followed by Sasha and then by Tim who only knows how to swear.
- Elias also knows sign. A lot of different forms actually. Jon sometimes turns his aids off when Elias is annoying him but it doesn’t get him very far. Sometimes the archival staff are treated to the sight of them just silently arguing, glaring intensely while they sign back and forth.
- Since Elias has been around a long time he’s seen a few now obsolete forms of sign come and go. One morning he used one when it was just him and Jon in the archives. He thought for sure Jon would find out his secret. Instead Jon just asked if that was ASL. Elias lied and said yes.
- Jon spent the next few months learning ASL to spite him. He never found out Elias was lying.
- Sensory input is sometimes a lot. So he’s not always wearing his hearing aids. The archives are as accommodating to this as they can be in the early days.
I could go on but these are my favorite points.

The thing that really endears me about Jmart is the moments we don't see. I mean the moments we see (particularly in S5) are great but is this slow build we just catch glimpses at that really gets me.
The progression from S1 Jon projecting his own insecurities into the guy he didn't know and Martin who has the worst taste ever getting a crush the moment his asshole boss is a tiny bit decent to him (likely Prentiss), the moments they must have spent between Martin living in the Archieves and Jon working late hours, the fact that at some point in S2 they do become friends (a thing we can only be certain in S3 between Daisy's "you two were close" and Martin not dennying it and S4 Georgie saying S3 Jon talked a LOT about Martin) [also doesn't this explain Tim slowly losing his friendship with Martin because Jon stalked him, was shitty with Martin for ages and now Martin decided to be friends with Jon anyway and consider Sims more than Tim that was always there for him as a friend, of course even before the notSasha Tim was growing distant], that when Jon is missing Martin in s4 he is missing something real that we just never trully saw. The time we never saw in Daisys safe house. The fact that Martin lied about his middle name to Jon at some point and he said a really silly middle name and Jon just believed because it was Martin.
Even Martin's early jealoussy. Because now his slow buliding friendship with Jon was the one thing taking him out of the Lonely and a lot of it was because Jon also had no one, so of course the idea that now he wasn't the only person in Jon's life would scare him... they only became friends when Sasha and Tim weren't there, to Martin at that point (s3) Jon was only his friend because he didn't had anyone else and this is a thing Martin likely believed up until s5 and grtting out of the Lohely and they just mean soo much to me but most importat... in a story about being watched and about the fear of being seem and judged... in a Beholder world... is kindda nice that we don't know. That they had all this moments outside the tapes, outside the fear someone was watching/listening.

Sleepover
Tumblr media
Martin Blackwood x Male reader
CW: canon typical mention of worms.
Summary: Martin is a little nervous with the whole "hunted by a supernatural worm lady" thing. Luckily, the friend he made from his work in the archives could be able to help him relax a bit!
"You don't have to, you know?" - Martin tried to reason with his friend nervously, watching as he threw his sleep bag onto the floor.
"I know! But I want to," - Y/n gives him a smile in response, - "you said you were creeped out by the archives at night, which I actually don't blame you for, so I'm making sure you're not staying alone!"
Martin smiles in response, as he lowers himself onto the unstable bed, looking as his friend tossed out more and more stuff from inside of the backpack he brought. A blanket, another one, his laptop, some snacks, spare clothes, all of them made a sound landing on each other. Martin felt his thoughts trail elsewhere, before hearing snapping fingers in front of his face.
"Earth to Martin? What are you thinking about with that pretty mind of yours?" - L/n grinned right in front of the guy's face.
Martin felt his cheeks heat up, as he awkwardly chuckled in response, looking away.
"Oh, nothing! You don't have to worry about it."
Y/n's expression became less cheerful, as he lowered himself onto his knees, taking Martin's palms in his own. They were warm, and a little sweaty, which the dark haired guy didn't seem to mind as he carefully caressed his friend's knuckles.
"No, I really want to know. What's keeping you from having fun with me tonight, hm? I won't tell anyone, scout's honor."
Martin sighed, turning his gaze back to the green orbs, which almost seemed to stop blinking, deeply focusing on him. How could he think and find the right words when a really pretty guy was staring at him like this?
"It's... Uh... I- I'm scared, Y/n," - he finally found the power to try and explain himself, - "I'm really scared, because like... What if... What if the worms get me? Or you! Or John, or Tim, or Sasha, or... Point is, I don't want to feel like I'm unsafe in my own workplace. I don't like feeling constantly anxious about there being a possibility of something just... Happening to you! Or to me, or to John, or Tim or Sasha... I know I sound silly, like... It's just worms! Nothing to worry about, right? I mean they're pretty disgusting, but it's not deadly! At least... At least I thought so..."
Y/n brought his lips down and carefully pressed a gentle, almost unnoticeable kiss upon Martin's slightly shaking palms. Noticing the spark in the other's eyes and the pink dust on his cheeks, he chuckled and did it again.
"It's going to be okay, Martin. We got enough CO2, right? And I saw you crush some worms today! You're so brave, Martin! I promise we're going to be okay. You're going to protect us, right? But if you're feeling afraid, I will always protect you." And at the very end of his speech, he kissed Blackwood's palms again. In a sudden rush of courage, Martin caught the other's hand and brought it to his lips.
"Yes... yes, you're right. I will protect you."
L/n smiled, standing up to meet Martin's eyes and gently grabbing him by his slightly warm cheeks.
"I'm always here for you, Martin. Y'know, you don't have to bottle it all up... You always make a big deal of helping others, but who will help you?"
The man sighed, a smile with a trace of sadness painting itself on his lips. He looked away, feeling his heartbeat fasten with the newfound feeling of the other man's hands on his face.
"Yeah... Yeah, I know. Thank you, Y/n."
A comfortable silence enveloped the room, as L/n removed his hands from the archival assistant's burning cheeks, moving them down to his shoulders. And in an instant, much to Martin's quickly spreading horror, Y/n lifted himself and pressed his lips to the other guy's forehead. Oh if only he knew how crazy Blackwood was going over the gesture. Although the quickly reddening face and the wide eyes left little to the imagination.
"Sorry, are you alright? Maybe I shouldn't have done that?" - L/n chuckled, his fingers reassuringly running through the other man's fluffy hair.
"N-no! No, it's... It's okay.." - Martin rubbed the back of his neck, which was just as hot, trying to hold the plea for more tingling on his lips desperately. In moments like this, he always thought, maybe Y/n knew. Was he that obvious with his crush on the guy, and that was what he was being teased for?
"If you ever feel uncomfortable with the contact, tell me, okay? I understand I can be too much sometimes." - L/n smiled with guilt sprinkled on his face.
"No, I mean it, it's okay!" - Martin's hands gently grasped Y/n's shoulders, trying not to let the heat in his chest take the best of him. "Please keep your hands on me" - he almost allowed himself to mutter, before biting his lip for good. "I don't mind the contact, it's nice to know someone likes me enough to touch me, it's just... Unusual, is all." Blackwood blinked, not sure how the guy would react.
The response came quickly: with Y/n chuckling, and giving the poor man an another mini heart attack, as he wrapped his hands around his shoulders, relaxing around the other's body. Martin froze, feeling his heart beating against his ribcage. Slowly, he lifted his own hands and placed them around L/n's body, trying to relax a bit. When was the last time he was hugged? Martin doesn't really remember, nor does he want to think about that, as a sense of warmth spread around his body, and he could've sworn he felt Y/n's heartbeat, too. Although, might've been wishful thinking. Even if it felt like hours before they let go, Martin still longed for more, even if he didn't dare to state it, instead just smiling bashfully at the other man as L/n sat on the bed next to him, already having the laptop out.
"I was thinking we'd watch something, how does that sound? Any suggestions? Only one rule: no sad movies, I don't want to get emotional today, we already have enough to worry about."
"W-what about horror?"
"I don't know... Unless you're brave enough to spend a night in the archives after a scary movie!"
Martin chuckled, shifting to be closer to Y/n, looking at the screen of his laptop, scanning through the movie options. With the warmth of the other man by his side, he finally decided to murmur something, even if it was barely audible.
"I won't be scared as long as you're here."

So. Fucking tma/re zero au
• julius getting fucking isekaied in to tma world
• it's julius who knows subaru, specifically even it's julius from the end of arc seven
• seeing all this new world is overwhelming and kinda fucked up for him he's like having a several panic attacks at first
• he also fucking speaking japanese. and he's. In London.
• so yeah by some miracle (👀👀) he stumbles by magnus institute
• still confused as fuck he meets gertrude
• she already lost michael. And other various assistants too. but there boy in strange clothes, who speaks japanese, and tell her about another world and who's absolutely lost and trying not to show that he's scared
• so yeah she's trying to help him a little. And makes him her new assistant
• julius still confused but trying his best. He's learning english as fast as he can, learning about history and about this world in general (he's excited and kinda. terrified.)
• he's trying to find something about subarus family in internet (yes he learned how to use computers and phone. even if he type with one finger)
• magnus institute stuff likes him Very much. after someone heard that he liked sweets he's doesn't know peace
• honestly. I have no fucking idea how to write this but eventually julius gonna be sacrificed to somehow stop The Lonely ritual by gertrude
So. That's it about julius. For now.
now about subaru-
• kinda arc from arc seven but he's. normal and not a child.
• so he gets isekaied too. Yes near magnus institute too, but julius is already avatar of lonely (or something like that) and gertrude is dead so here jon.
• jon is trying not to show that's he freaking out because suddenly he understands japanese So Hard
• but. "It's not important, at least not now" because sasha and tim pressing him to help subaru (yes subaru trying to explain all that stuff about being isekaied, obviously not telling about return by death ability. They don't believe him, but still trying to help)
• subaru not. Having a great time. It seems that he returned to "his" world and he can return to his family and be happy right? Well. Not to say about immediately missing his new family and friends-
he strangely feels that something is wrong, that it's not his world.
• but they still trying to find subarus family on internet, and again, strangely they can't.
• and then leitner incident happens. I have no idea how to write that again but Somehow subaru firstly dies to leitner book, and his as ability works in this world too, and he somehow saves jon??? (Again I have no idea how but i want to write something like this-)
• after that jon is so much trusting and thankful but still. They annoyed at each other for various reasons and Shenanigans is interesting at least
• tim Absolutely adopts subaru as his younger brother. Also subaru watching tim be so openly bisexual is giving him fucking existential crisis
• sasha intensely digging internet trying to find something about subarus family, but also praying so much information from him (they all still think that he's absolutely delusional)
• martin kinda reminds subaru otto, so he's trying to tease him in friendly way, but he's also so fucking obvious to martin's crush on jon.
So For Now that all, I'm just going for Vibes and funny interactions between my two favorite fandoms, but again potential for entitys abilities/authoritys is Here

!!some slight spoilers for the magnus archives below!!
Tumblr media

@hairasuntouchedaspartoftheamazon if the people want to know then I'm happy to share <3
so it's more just a few random ideas than an actual fully fleshed out AU but I technically have 2 TMA AUs one where the zones and city are a desolation/stranger domain and one that sort of follows the plot of TMA
so the first AU the city and zones as a domain are a bit unique because the lines between fears are blurred as they are in s5 but one part of the domain has a stronger focus on one fear and one part on the other instead of it all being twisted up, but both fears affect all parts of the domain. the stranger has a stronger hold on the city and the desolation has a stronger hold on the zones. the domain is focused on the crushed hope of thinking you escaped your torment only to find you're now being tormented in an entirely different way, a way you don't know how to handle.
someone might escape the city only to find the desolation of the zones, and that the killjoys culture and customs are so unfamiliar that its like being stuck with the stranger all over again. a killjoy might turn themselves in to the city only to have to learn to handle everyone's lack of identity which it so prized in the desert, and the fear of losing everything never goes away as they have to learn to hide their true identity and fit in with all the "citizens" because who konws what might happen if they get found out? the director is the avatar in charge of the city section and the witch is in charge of the zones section and all other characters are just victims here. i'd like to write a statement-esque fic about this domain but idk if or when that's gonna happen
the second one is far less fleshed out but i was thinking the girl as the archivist, the witch as the head of the institute, dr d + the station crew as the former archivist and archival assistants, the four as the early archival assistants (taking the places of tim sasha and martin) while the vs are some of the later assistants (like melanie daisy and basira) except for val who is the not!party, various background/twitter characters or ocs as some of the recurring avatars (like jude perry, oliver banks, etc)
