Welcome to Samdalri has been MY kdrama of the season for various reasons.
1. The way Samdal feels about her own emotions
2. The relationship: Yongpil and Samdal
3. I see myself in her and how she acts. The story hits close to home because I'm like her, and I'd have ran away from my ex immediately if I saw him (yes, I had feelings for him) I didn't want to let him go (I'm talking about a 4 years ago ex, figures huh)
4. My ex died two months ago. We didn't talk about what happened to us. I'm feeling guilty about stuff we couldn't/didn't disclose
So I hope I can learn something when it ends

Welcome to samdalri
This series shows the thoughts of both Samdal and Yong pil. There are scenes where they talk to themselves, it might seem trivial but it adds so much to the story.
You care more for the character, the better you get get to know about their thoughts and emotions.
It also adds to the comical aspect of the series.
I also truly love seeing the relationship the 5 of them have with each other. It's adorable and chaotic. Let's not even start about the love triangle that is being hinted at, though we can probably guess that Samdal is still not over Yong Pil and nor is he over her. At this moment I am just curious to know why they broke up in the first place.
Also,
These locations are just soo beautiful.... I am thoroughly enjoying it.

The way welcome to samdal-ri portrays how you can meet your person, your soulmate, your perfect partner but the circumstances make it impossible to be with them.
Its always about falling in love and finding ways to be together, to resolve conflicts and come out of them stronger.
But what about if you are the best team together already. What if you already bring out the best in each other, you're partners in crime, best friends and lovers, the blueprint, the soulmates, when it's you and them against the world but the world fucking wins.
When loving them and wanting the best for them means loving them alone, not together. When saving yourself is more important than the love you have for them.
When love does not conquer it all.
It's the family grudge between Yong pil and samdal.
Jin Dals In-laws.
Hae Dals husbands illness.
Yong pils dad losing his wife to the sea.
None of this has to do with how much they love each other. And that's the most painful shit one can go through. Because you take it to the fucking grave with you.
This show....UGH

i love how well sam-dal and yong-pil's relationship is set up, them being exes truly feels so secondary to everything else that they are, to the point you might even forget they ever dated. the feeling of watching an old childhood friend who you don't talk to simply because you live a different life from is so poignant.

watching my demon feels a lot like watching doom at your service - the themes seem repeated with the addition of jeong gu won and do do hee’s cuddliness.
but watching welcome to samdalri feels a lot like watching hometown cha cha cha - it’s a similar setting, and we all know what’s going to happen, but they both feel like coming home.
