Am I the only one who thinks Taha Aki’s third wife was his imprint? Because this man supposedly outlived two wives and never went feral when they died. But when the Third Wife sacrificed herself he fully wolfed out and disappeared into the wilderness after laying beside her body for three days.

Hi!
Can I ask for a Sam Uley sister reader who got imprinted on by Paul and how Sam would react? Maybe some smutty things involved and they get caught in sam’s house or something?
Tumblr media
“Dinner’s ready!” You almost didn’t hear Emily yell out to everyone, with your head in Kim’s lap as her fingers braid softly through your hair. She’s been practicing fishtail braids and she insisted your hair was perfect for it. Your peace being disturbed by a bunch of half naked guys running towards the kitchen, hoping to be the first to grab some food. “One last strand of hair, there! Finished!” Kim reaches out for a mirror and shows the you the finished look. “You did great Kim, as always!” You grin at her. “ now let’s get something to eat, before the guys eat everything.”
You both walk into the kitchen, laughing at something Kim said and you bump shoulders with each other before being dragged into your boyfriend’s lap. He starts filling your plate and his with food while leaving small little kisses on your neck. During dinner, Paul keeps his one hand on your inner thigh, caressing your skin with his thumb, sometimes giving it a soft squeeze to remind you he’s watching you as you laugh and talk with Emily and Kim.
After dinner you excuse yourself to pack your bags, with Paul fast behind you. You stayed the night at your brothers house to help Emily with wedding preparations. You were kind of weary about Emily in the beginning but that’s because you have a good relationship with Leah and the way their relationship ended wasn’t one you agreed to. But after learning all about the legends, imprints and shifters you decided to give Emily a chance. It’s not that you two were best friends now, but you like the woman and your brother loves her so who are you to stand in the way of fate.
Your daydreaming is cut short when you feel Paul’s hands on your hips, squeezing softly and pulling your ass into his crotch. His one hand wanders over your stomach, to your breasts, stopping only to softly pinch and twist your nipple, before stopping at your neck. You feel his fingers widen and clutch around your throat as he pulls your upper body to his. “Feel what you do to me, baby?” His grinding never stops and you can feel his hard cock straining beneath his shorts. “Fuck baby, need you.. Need you now!” A whimper escapes your mouth and that’s all Paul needs before he pushes you so your hands fall on the bed as hitches your dress up over your ass and pulls your panties to the side.
“Such a pretty pussy, all wet and glistening for me” you hear him mumble his words as he runs a finger through your slick folds and stops at your entrance. He pushes in a little bit before removing and slipping two fingers back inside you. The moan that comes out of you has him go feral. With one hand he keeps finger fucking you into oblivion while the other works at his belt and pants, trying to get them off. He pushes his pants and boxers to the ground and guides his cock to your pussy. He slides it between your folds, flicking your clit with the head, making you see stars. “You ready baby?” He slowly pushes in and let’s you adjust to his size. “So fucking good, so fucking tight” Paul grits his teeth as he starts moving faster, gripping your hips and pulling you back into his cock.
“Ey, y/n! Have you seen the folder with wedding dresses? Emily cant find them and she thinks you-“
You and Paul stop as both your head turn towards the door where a frozen and furious looking Sam stands. He opens his mouth to say something but closes it before slamming the door with a bang. You look over your shoulder at your boyfriend who clicks his tongue. “Well, that kinda killed the mood”

If You Challenged The Alpha
<Prev || Part 19 || Next>
You, Leah, Paul and Jared: *walks to bonfire*
Leah: *supports you*
Paul: *frowns and supports your other side* what’s so important that the council called us together?
Leah: *annoyed* probably has something to do with Jacob
Jared: it always has something to do with Jacob. If he brings up Rosalie I’ll fight his ass
You: *smiles* thanks
Paul and Leah: we’ve got you
Jacob: *stands behind Billy*
You: *chuckles* ow. He’s only standing behind Billy cause that’s how he gets any power
Sam: Billy why did the council call this meeting
Jacob: I’m here to challenge for Alpha
The Pack: *gasps and growls*
You: there’s no fucking way
Old Quil: Jacob is the rightful alpha
You: *rolls eyes*
Jacob: I, Jacob Black, challenge Samuel Uley for the Alpha role.
Sam: *stands* I accept.
Sue: *sighs* Time or Place, Sam
Sam: Place. The Clearing where we fought the Newborns
Jacob: *puffs chest and looks at you* tomorrow. High noon.
You: *growls*
~~~~~
The Pack: *at Emily’s*
Leah: why didn’t you reject his challenge Sam
You: rejecting would’ve meant conceding.
Sue: *holds up a book on Quileute Shifter legends* when Sam first turned, the Alpha role fell to him. Because it wasn’t earned through a challenge he can not decline it. When it is earned only then can a challenge be rejected
Leah: *takes the book and scans through it*
Seth: what’s going to happen?
Sam: The whole pack must be in attendance during the challenge. All simultaneously in wolf form.
Embry: but Carlisle said (Y/n) can’t shift
Sam: I’m sorry (Y/n)
You: don’t be. You needed the advantage. You’ve been to that clearing more than any of us has.
Paul: of course Jacob chose a time frame where he knew (Y/n) won’t challenge him
Jared: makes sense if the council is going off bloodline. she’s the only one who could take him on
Quil: *reads over Leah’s shoulder* When the challenger and defender start their challenge they will not be able to hear the other pack members.
Sue: and the pack members won’t be able to hear either contenders
Emily: and how is the winner determined *rubbing Sam’s shoulders*
You: a forfeit or death
The Pack: *quiets*
Sue: once that happens the pack and both contenders mind with connect again. And the winner will formally acknowledge their role as Alpha.
Leah: *reads* if the challenge wins they must acknowledge their role with the phrase “I, full name, am your new Alpha”. If the defender wins they must acknowledge their role with the phrase “I, full name, remain as your Alpha.”
Seth: is there anything we can do to help?
You and Sue: no
Emily: but we can make sure Sam is well fed, with the proper sleep and ready for the challenge tomorrow
~~~~~
The Pack: *stands outside Emily’s house*
Sam: brothers and sisters, by the end of today I may no longer be Alpha but I want to thank you all for letting me guide you to the best of my ability. You’re all incredible people and I’m honored to have you all as my pack mates.
You: he’s going to make us cry
Jared: *pack call chirps and smacks Sam in the back*
The Pack: *follows*
Jared: see you there brother *shifts and runs to the clearing*
The Pack: *follows*
You: *hugs Sam* you got this *smiles at him* show that little sucker whose boss
Sam: Thank you (Y/n/n)
You: *takes a deep breath, winces and shifts*
The Pack: *stands in a circle and waits for both contenders*
The Council: *watches from a distance*
Paul: ‘This is nerve racking’
Quil: ‘tell me about it’
Jacob: *arrives*
Sam: *arrives*
Jacob and Sam: *snarls and circles each other*
Jacob: *pounces and teeth bared for Sam’s neck*
Sam: *dodges and lunges at Jacob’s ribs*
Jacob: *falls with a crack, bites Sam’s leg and tosses him back*
Sam: *rolls into Quil*
Jared, Paul, and You: ‘get up Sam’
Jacob: *attacks Sam’s flank*
Sam: *tries to push Jacob off*
Jacob: *claws Sam’s shoulder*
Sam: *yelps*
Jacob: *slashes Sam’s muzzle and bites down on Sam’s chest*
The Pack: *hears both Jacob and Sam’s thoughts*
Sam: ‘I concede.’
Jacob: *still attacking*
Leah: ‘Jacob stop! You’re killing him’
You: ‘Jacob!’
Seth: ‘you won!’
Paul: ‘acknowledge your role’
Jared: ‘he surrendered’
Everyone: ‘Jacob!’
Sam: *thinks about his whole shifting journey*
You: *growls and The Pack’s voices fade*
Jared, Paul and Leah: ‘(Y/n)?’
Billy: what is she doing!
You: *tackles Jacob off Sam and pins him to the ground* ‘You we’re going to kill my brother!’
Jacob: *snarls* ‘I’m you’re brother! I am the Alpha!’
You: ‘No you’re not!’ *bites his shoulder*
Jacob: *throws you off* ‘I reject the challenge!’
You: ‘You should’ve read the legends!’ *rushes at him*
Jacob: *tries to jump over you*
You: *bites his leg and slams him into the ground*
You and Jacob: *fight*
Old Quil: how is this possible!
Sue: *smile* Jacob didn’t acknowledge. He left the position open for too long.
Billy: *scowls* why would Jacob accept a challenge
Sue: there was nothing to accept or reject. Jacob didn’t put himself in a position to do either
Jacob: *slams into your injured ribs*
You: *yelps*
Jacob: *pins you down*
You: ‘you will have to kill me to get the Alpha and when you do they’ll see you as you are’
Jacob: *rage* ‘And when you’re dead Blondie is next’ *bites at your neck*
You: *eyes darken, claws at his eye and kicks him off*
You and Jacob: *fight*
You: *with the advantage*
Jacob: *on the ground*
You: *stalks towards him*
Jacob: ‘they will never bow down to the weaker sex’
You: *alpha voice flickers* ‘And you will suffer greatly for it’ *pounces*
Jacob: *pants* ‘stop! S-stop.’
You: *hears the pack* ‘I, (Y/n) Judith Black, am your new Alpha!’
Leah: *howls first*
Sam: *follows and bows*
The Pack: *follows*
You: *growls at Jacob*
Jacob: *bows*
You: *glares at Old Quil and Billy*

Fandoms & Ships
I am a true nerd, and as such, continously seek out new media and their fandoms, and become involved with them, while also cyclically coming back to the ones I already love. I am a romantic, and I love see love in general (all types of love, not just romantic!), so I am also a very big shipper!
I don't always have a set ship(s) for every fandom I find myself in, nor do I think it necessary to try and "prove" that mine are better than other ships. I like what I like, and I like seeing what others like as well. So I might have OTPs, but I also like engaging with content for all kinds of ships, even true rarepairs.
I also don't think it necessary for a fandom to have ships, so just because I have a listed ship that I like/love, doesn't mean I can't have neutral/objective thoughts and opinions about that particular piece of media.
That being said, here's a list of fandoms I come back to, or keep up with, and a list of ships I have a preference for. OTPs are bolded! Oh, and media (as in the series, books, shows, etc.) are rated according to my opinion!

3 what if Jacob never became a wolf? Either there was a cheater somewhere in his ancestry and so he doesn’t have the wolf gene, or just a random mutation, or the will of Meyer, he never becomes anything more than a human boy a little worried about the gang the older kids are creating. What changes?
Interesting question.
Jacob Never Becomes a Wolf
As of early New Moon, Bella still approaches him to fix her bicycles, he still likely tells her about the old legends at the beach in Twilight to impress her, and his friends still leave him one by one to join Sam Uley's weird gang.
The difference is that... Jacob never joins.
They wait and they wait and then they look slowly at Billy who has a dawning realization that, apparently, his son is not actually his son or there's some weird genetic shenanigans going on.
What Happens?
Bella and Jacob's friendship I imagine remains in a way stronger than ever. Jacob now has nothing, no idea what's happening to his family and friends, and Bella is literally the only normal person in his life. It's like canon, but worse in that he has no explanations and his people rather than being heroic defenders fighting off demons are looking like a cult.
I imagine Jacob ends up spending a lot of time at Bella's house.
Or he would except they're looking for that meadow...
Now, if Jacob never bails on Bella because of Sam, then he and Bella probably go looking for it together. This means they may never find it or else they do at a completely different time. The chances of running into Laurent are extremely low.
If it does happen and the wolves aren't there in time...
Then Laurent may very well eat them both as he promised to do.
If the two do witness this strange scene... Jacob's going "What the fuck?" and gets a weird talk from Billy later about how those tribal legends were actually true and all his friends are shapeshifting warriors. Except Jacob.
Bella then probably tries to not tell Jacob and with limited options and no idea what's happening... probably runs off to the Volturi for either death or sanctuary.
Jacob may confront her early enough and tell her that his people have known about this, obviously, but...
I don't think Bella would trust the wolves to protect her or confront them without Jacob as a way in. I really think she'd run off to Italy, faking her death, to stop Victoria's assault on Forks.
Jacob is left very very sad.
Or dead if Laurent ate him.
In the event that they never run into Laurent and never learn any of this, then Bella continues to be sad and probably jumps off a cliff where Jacob is not there to save her. She drowns.

Everything to me (Paul Lahote)
Chapter One: Reunions
Tumblr media
The wheels of my suitcase rattle behind me as I march out of the airport. I take a deep breath as the smell of rain envelopes me. It's an all too familiar smell, seeing as I just came here from Vancouver, BC. But it's comforting to still have that reminder of home with me. Peering around through the bustling crowds at Sea-tac, looking for my aunt Sue, I hear her before I see her.
"Ahh Lucy!!" I hear a squeal of my name and whip my head around just in time to see a sheet of brown hair flying at my face as she crushes me in a hug. "Oh honey, look at you! I missed you!" She pulls back and smiles at me.
"I missed you too Aunt Sue!" And I truly did. This woman had to be the warmest, kindest soul I'd ever known. I moved away from my family with my father when I was little, but I never lost contact with Aunt Sue. We talked on the phone all the time, and at least once every couple of months, my dad would drive me to meet her at some random small town between Vancouver and LaPush.
"Uh, you are just absolutely beautiful Luce." She beams at me. Looking down at my feet, I nudge my aunt playfully. "Come on, let's get you in the car and you can catch me up to speed on the way home."
********
Everything out my window is reduced to a blur of green as we speed down the road to the small town I'm about to call home again. I was born here, and lived with my mom and dad for the first 8 years of my life. But one day my mom just up and vanished. The police never found her body or anything, so me and my dad were forced to try and mourn without closure. It eventually became too much for my dad, so he packed us up and moved us out of the country.
Vancouver was ok, and I had good friends there, but I always missed the closeness of the people of LaPush. I missed my cousins and my old childhood friends Jake and Quil and Embry. And I missed my Aunt Sue and Uncle Harry telling me stories about our Quileute tribe around the campfire. I was certainly glad to know the tribe's legends - I guess the right word is histories - when around 15 I came down with a serious fever and an attitude problem that eventually landed me on four legs.
It was my anxiety that finally did me in. The boy I liked at school asked about mom and I tried to tell him about her, I really did. But the knot in my throat made it impossible to speak, my vision got all blurry and I could feel my heart trying to beat it's way out of my chest. That's when a flash of rage and heat swept over me, and shoving the boy into the locker behind us, I ran out of school into the woods behind it. I called my dad just as a tearing sensation ran up my spine, and white and grey feet came down in front of my eyes.
As much as my dad tried to help me, he'd stopped shifting so long ago so he could grow old with my mom. And I had so much trouble keeping my anxiety under control enough to stop shifting. Being alone in this definitely didn't help that. But when my Aunt Sue told me that some of the boys on the reservation were starting to shift too, I longed to go back home. My dad wouldn't budge on the matter though. I was already 17 by the time it was too late and... my accident gave him no choice but to let me go live with his sister in LaPush.
Steering my mind away from the accident before I spiral right in the truck, I bring my focus back to the present.
"So, you said some of the boys are starting to shift? Is there a pack?" I say turning my head to look at my aunt.
"Yeah there is. Do you remember Sam Uley?" I nod. "Well he was the first, so he's the alpha here. Then little Jared Cameron from your preschool was number two. Paul Lahote from down the road - he's the same as ever, life of the party, but his temper flips like a switch-" You remember a young Paul on the playground pushing a kid for making fun of your outfit and smile to yourself. "Then your old friends Embry, Jake and Quil. That's it" She finishes. But my eyes have gone wide at the mention of my old friends.
"My boys are shifters?!" I squeal out, making your aunt wince and giggle.
"Yeah honey. Actually Sam was thinking of having a bonfire tonight to officially welcome you to the pack. We've never had someone join this way, so he wanted to make sure you got to meet everybody. Is that ok?"
My heart swells at the thought put into the gesture. The excitement of meeting my future pack tonight builds in my chest.
"Of course! That sounds perfect... Maybe I should shower first though" I say, cringing at the sight of my airplane hair in the side mirror. Aunt Sue lets out a snort beside me.
"Well yeah. Let's get you settled in first. It's at the blacks house. You've got plenty of time honey"
We finally pull into a long driveway that leads to the sweetest little blue house. It's the perfect mix of Aunt Sue and Uncle Harry and it just welcomes you in. I barely make it out of the car before Leah and Seth are on top of me making sure I know how much I was missed. My Uncle Harry greeted me with a warm hug and heated me up some leftover fish fry. After the initial excitement of my arrival wears off, Leah helps me set up my new room, and we're left laying on my new bed, filling each other in on everything.
"So he just picked her over you... our second cousin.... WHAT AN ASS!" I blurt out. "Yeah. He didn't even give me an explanation. He just loves her now I guess." Leah says with a frown on her face.
"Well I don't really know the guy, but I hate him for you. And you can bet your ass I'm going to give him hell tonight. Is that why you aren't coming?" I ask her as you run a brush through your waves.
"Mostly yeah. But I think it's just for Sam's friends... I assume they're trying to initiate you into their cult." She says with a smirk.
"Well naturally. I'm the best." I throw back at her with a dazzling smile, making us both burst into a fit of giggles.
Once we've settled down and I've tamed my dark brown waves Leah shoots me a look.
"You know Paul is going to be there hey? Didn't you used to have a huge crush on him?" she asks.
"Used to? I saw a picture of him on Facebook like last year and he's still so frickin cute." She raises her eyebrows at me.
"Dude, he's not cute anymore. He graduated to hot a while ago. Actually all those boys have really filled out, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised"
"Hmm, well then Leah... lets make me look hot too so I fit in" She throws her head back with laughter and gets to work on picking out my outfit.

The Original Part 7 - Felix Volturi x Reader
A/N: So sorry for the delay on this one writers block is a killer. This is a slightly shorter part a dives into the readers history! The next part will be full of Volturi Family fun! Any feedback, suggestions or request please let me know xx
Masterlist
Pairing: Felix Volturi x Reader
Warnings: violence, mentions of death, angst, fluff
Tumblr media
“What the hell……”
I growled lowly as the wolves all looked at me there eyes widening, all the vampires around me looked in shock except Felix, Demetri and the twins.
“How the hell are you a wolf?” It was Jacob yelling at me through the mind link.
“Everyone has an origin story Jacob Black, and well you see I am your packs origin story!” I seethed back.
I growled lowly but harshly as all the wolves started shifting back to their human forms Jacob included. As they shifted back Rosalie dashed into the wood returning moments later with clothes for the wolves. Once they were human and dressed I shifted back myself as Felix dashed forward and wrapped his cloak around me and gave me a kiss on the forehead.
Tumblr media
“Y/N?” I hear from the other side of the field. “Jacob will not harm you.” I laugh slightly at the thought of Jacob trying anything while I am surrounded by the Volturi guard.
“I assume you are the alpha. What is your name?”
“Sam Uley.”
“Ahh nice to meet you. Y/N Volturi, however I am sure you have figured that out.”
“Yes, may we ask how you are a shifter like us?”
“Of course, like all vampires here I was once a human…my mother was a traveller exiled from from modern day Italy for witchcraft when they sailed to the new world, where she settled on the Olympic Peninsular and fell in love with one of the village men, Ahanu Lahote.” I saw one of the boys perk up at the name as I took a closer look I felt my eyes glaze over at how much he resembled my father and my brother. “My mother was a powerful witch something that i inherited, but nothing could prepare us for the sickness that would swipe through the village claiming many kids including my younger brother, in order to protect me my mother created the vampire curse, because my witch nature was so strong i became a hybrid of a witch and a vampire, the only downside was i couldn’t control my blood last so i left until i could, i couldn’t risk hurting my family. After a few year i turned my first vampires in eastern europe and watched them tear apart villages, once i ended them i realised it was too late they had turned others and it was spreading more and more vampires were appearing though different to me, so i returned home however stayed hidden i couldn’t risk hurting my family. I could see from a distance my parents had another child. I decided that i needed to protect my village so i created a spell that would allow the children of the six tribe leaders to change into the animals they hunted with that were stronger faster everything that the vampires were and would trigger when vampires were near, with that the shifters were created. After that i returned to Eastern Europe around Romania when i ran into some vampires. I hadn’t counted on the spell effecting me as a daughter of a tribe elder but none the less i turned.”
I pause as i see everyone on the field my history for the first time since meeting the twins, Demetri and Felix.
“I hide for a few decades until I met Caius and Athendora, then came Aro, Marcus and their mates, by this time i was a legend in the vampire world a myth used to scare people, i had taken my mothers maiden name and so began the legend of, Y/N Volturi, and we created the Volturi Coven. Though i never predicted Aro would go mad with power” no one said anything until one of the wolves, the one who reminded me of my brother,
“So your a Lahote?”
“By birth yes.”
“Well than, i am Paul Lahote nice to meet you great great great aunt i guess.”
I giggle slightly.
“Try adding a few more greats to that Paul, but nice to meet you too.” I saw Jacob roll his eyes.
“Well as nice as this has been nice but we will be leaving now with Edward Bella and the child.” I nod at the lower guard who flash away followed by the queens Marcus and Caius, Demetri and the twins then escorted the cullens off the field. After the left the other wolves dragged jacob away nodding a slight farewell in my direction, the rest of the vampires then disappear from the field.
“So my queen, does that mean i have to bow to you.”
“Felix.” I turn to look at my mate “i am so sorry!” I run and give him a hug.
“You erased my memory and you think a simple apology will help, what the hell were you thinking.”
“I wanted to protect you, and i wasn’t sure if this plan would work so i thought it best.” He nodded before pulling me in for a kiss.
“You are lucky i am a forgiving person, the twins not so much.”
“I know but for now lets go home after all, we are the new king and queen.” I grab Felix hand as we run to catch the others.

lore / early life
you can find the werewolf lore at the top of this jacob headcanon post .
brady fuller is distantly related to the clearwater family through his father's side & the ateara family through his mother's side . his parents were early twenties when they married & had brady - as most people on the res are . they were mature for their age and responsible but they simply weren't meant to be together . they had a fantastic co-parenting relationship & brady's dad eventually moved away to port townsend .
growing up , brady spent a week every summer in port townsend & enjoyed his time with his dad . the only problems they ever had was when brady was thirteen and his father remarried . he was upset by the turn of the events - but his step-mother was kind to him . still , he felt ostracized from his father's new life - especially after they had children . he just felt like he didn't fit .
on his mother's side , when brady was three she met a man in forks where she worked as a waitress . he was horrible to brady's mom & very violent at home . he put the entire family into debt & made life awful for them . brady's mom became pregnant with his younger sister when brady was three & often brady felt the need to protect his little sister from his step-father . his mother never married the man and got the courage to leave him when brady was ten and his sister was eight . unlike his other half-siblings , brady is very close to his sister & extremely protective over her at all times ( this is a connection I want but have specific guidelines for - if you're ever interested HMU ) . his mom got help from the council elders to keep the guy away from la push ( little did he know sam uley used the wolf pack to frighten away his step-father as mentioned by jacob in a roundabout way in new moon ) .
in my canon , brady does not phase for the first time until he is fourteen . although , he is still one of the youngest members of the pack . he adores being a wolf - although his parents had never really told him the legends growing up . they thought they were silly stories . brady heard bits and pieces from friends / school / etc but never paid them any mind . but he adapts to being a wolf well ( although being so young his transformation is very painful ) .
brady is very head - strong , adventurous , and boyish . he has a protective and caring side but he often does not have to use it as he's had mostly good things happen to him in life . when he graduates school he is employed at jacob black's garage where he learns to become a mechanic . he is happy to stay in la push his entire life and keeps the secret from his parents easily .

~
She wracked her brain.
Pieces of what Carlisle hadn’t made sense before, but even thinking of it now she found herself second guessing. She shouldn’t have spent so much time ogling him…. Maybe then she’d be able to try to figure out what it was.
She knew it was something. Elise felt it deep within herself. That egging feeling. One that made her want to leap back into that doctor’s office, chirp until she found her answer.
Elise had her pride, though. This had to be done right. Naturally. Hopefully she would figure out whatever it was that made her so on edge.
~
The Cullens hadn’t been in town for days until the night before. It had put her stitch removal back by a day- luckily she had made sure no irritation followed it. She was pretty well off at healing herself.
Elise was never perfect at it. Techniques had to be done correctly. Her mother had reprimanded her time again and again- study, study, study.
Oh well. She knew enough to get her by. Elise could slack a little, surely.
Then again, here she was with strings in her pinky.
She stood in the parking lot of the Forks doctor office. Long gone were the sunny days. Elise frowned. They only got so many of those… Her garden was grateful for the rainfall. As was she- it kept her in stock.
Her phone buzzed. Elise glanced at the screen.
B. Black
Huh. She answered right away, pressing her phone up to her ear, “Billy?”
“Hey kiddo,” she heard the seasoned voice speak back to her.
Her heart melted. The man checked in on her from time to time- as her god-father, he made sure she was taken care of since she came back. Their families were close for a good number of years- The Swans, The Dumont family and the Blacks.
“How’s business treating ya? You making the big bucks yet?”
“Trying to,” she sighed, leaning against a pillar nearby. A thrum of irritation came from her finger. She switched her phone to rest between shoulder and cheek.
He chuckled tightly. She noted it immediately. Luckily, he didn’t leave her in suspense, “… I… I need to know if there’s something stronger than the vervain.”
“… I mean… it’s pretty much the only thing I can think of to help you,” she frowned.
Vervain. She had done business with La Push since she had come back- just as her mother had. Those boys and now girls over there needed help… to live a normal life.
The Quileute tribe was gifted long ago- when they protected and managed their own land- with the power to shift into powerful beings. She remembered the stories her mother and father had spun for her- why they were so close with the Blacks. For with the future brought security- no reason to fight. The wolves had stopped phasing, and normal lives were led… so it turned to legend.
But now, here they were beginning to shift again. Sam Uley was the first. He was a sensitive man with not much to say, now driven to further seclusion. More were being tagged along slowly…
And now it was obvious.
Danger was among them.
She just wished she knew what was causing the wolves to try to phase.
“Is there anything in the books your mom left behind?”
“Honestly, I have remnants,” she admitted. After a big fire to their family home- which already cost her mother- they had also lost almost all of their library. “But I can research. See if we can fortify the protection… why the urgency?”
“Jacob isn’t doing too well.”
She felt her heart stutter. Jacob. She used to play with him as a child along with Bella. He was such a vibrant, firecracker of a soul. Always joking. Always warm. Such a soul that he had…
The wolf thing would absolutely toss his world upside down.
“Has he…?”
“No. No,” Billy spoke, his voice laced with relief, “We still have time before any of that.”
“Well… let me see what I can do. I can come by as soon as tonight."
They said their goodbyes. Elise sighed, sliding her phone back into her pocket. She fixed her posture, ready to finally head inside and face the doctor-
She ran into the hardest little body she ever came into contact with. Elise grunted, pulling back to give the other person room, “I’m so sorry-“
Alice Cullen was far more unnerving up close. Her intensive eyes dug straight into her as she gave a quick smile, “Don’t worry about it.” She then stuck out her hand confidently, “I’ve seen you around town. My name is Alice.”
Elise was aware, but that bit wasn’t about to be public knowledge. The woman cleared her throat, nodding, “I’m Elise Dumont. I am sorry once again.”She took Alice’s hand. Maybe the Cullen’s had some genetic problem- it seemed all of them were icy on the skin.
Something dinged in the back of Elise’s brain, but she kept it there for now as a note.
“How’s your hand doing?”
Elise blinked. What…?
“I saw my brother looking at your finger the other day. I’m assuming you got hurt?” the smaller woman mused, tilting the said hand. She gazed at the needlework, nodding, “He’s really handy ain’t he? These are perfect.”
Before she could respond, Elise was being led. Alice kept her grip on her hand. The double glass doors opened, revealing Jessica once more.
The receptionist smiled, “Hey guys, what can I-“
“We’re here to see my brother,” Alice stated in a bright tone, walking straight past the woman. Jess gave Elise a look, and she barely had time to shrug back. Holy moly. Alice wasn’t rude, but she did seem to get what she wanted.
Alice sashayed through to the back where the doctor offices were held. Elise really had no choice but to follow. Her mother was a bit of the same way— polite but clear.
Elise almost spoke Alice before she opened the door labeled Dr. C. Cullen- just wasn’t quick enough. She could feel her blood rushing to her face.
The good doctor sat at his desk, gaze flickering up quickly. His expression went through little change, though his eyes lit up differently between Alice and Elise.
His sharp jaw clenched slightly, finally, before speaking to his sister, “Alice, I’m sure Elise could’ve found her way in by herself.”
The sound of her name made El smile despite herself.
Alice shrugged, “I was merely giving her a V.I.P. escort, dear brother. It shows the patient you care.”
The doctor cleared his throat, shaking his head. He gazed to Elise, finally, “I hope she hasn’t scared you at all.”
Huh. Even he was aware of the unsettling quality of the small woman next to her. At least Elise wasn’t crazy for thinking so.
She shook her head no, “Not at all. She was very kind.”
Alice’s nose scrunched as she have a triumphant look to her sibling, “See? I’m kind.”
“Alice,” Carlisle sighed, “Just give me the car keys and go.”
The smaller sister shrugged, letting go of Elise finally. What a tight grip she had… Alice produced a pair of keys from her pocket, tossing them to her brother. El watched as the brother caught it perfectly. Man. She would kill for that coordination.
The shorter woman looked up to El, grinning, “Well, it was lovely to meet you. I’ll be seeing you around.”
“Likewise,” was all she could really respond with.
She waved goodbye to her brother, who merely waved back. “Don’t get into any trouble!”
With that, the shorter girl whipped her way out of the office. The door shut behind her with a swish.
The ticking of the clock persisted. Carlisle shook his head, “Terribly sorry. She is quite the madcap, but never mean. I promise.”
Madcap? She kept the word in mind. That was a new one.
“You mean like the Mad Hatter?” she chuckled.
He smiled back, the curl of his mouth enticing her, “Exactly.”
He composed his expression quickly after, though. The smile was still on his face. It was a more polite expression than warm, though. She found herself longing for it.
“So, thank you for your patience. It’s rare that we get good weather days around here,” he apologized, gesturing for her to sit.
“Only so many chances to get sunburns,” she joked.
He shook his head with a breathless chuckle. He stood, moving around the desk as she made herself comfortable. “I don’t quite worry about that. I appreciate the concern, though.” His tone was teasing and light. She grinned at the banter.
He held out his hand, pulling up a rolling chair, “Let’s get these pesky little strings out of you, hm?”
The tools he gathered clattered for the next few minutes. He made himself comfortable as he examined her hand. His eyes were laser focused, the scissors he used perfectly still. She watched him work on her, content to memorize the planes of his cheeks.
“You must have good nerves,” she commented.
“I’m curious as to what makes you think that.”
“You have a steady hand.”
“Is that the requirement?”
“Well, yeah. Usually people who are nervous tend to clutter about like me,” she went to shrug, but thought better of it.
Elise felt her heart still as he glanced up at her. He kept her gaze for a flicker of a second, his honeyed depths calling out to her. He then averted his look back to the task at hand, “I assure you, I still get nervous. My nerves have their limits.” She wanted to ask how, but he continued, “I’m just glad it isn’t painfully obvious, and that it helps with my career.”
“What made you want to choose being a doctor?”
He hummed thoughtfully, slicing another string. Carlisle didn’t respond until he went for the next one, “Just seemed like the next right thing to do. Helping out fellow man and such. What made you want to open a bookstore?”
She blinked.
“How’d you know?”
“You’re the only bookshop in town that offers texts on the occult,” he responded.
She was. For a reason. Forks didn’t sway one way or the other too harshly with religion. That meant little to no access to texts on other spirituality- which was where she stepped in.
“I think I would’ve been aware had you entered my store,” she commented aloud.
His hand paused. Carlisle worked on the following knot in her finger, “Edward told me.”
“I would’ve definitely noticed him,” she responded.
“Suppose he heard it from somewhere then.”
He finished the last one. Her finger breathed with relief as he pulled the last string out. Just a small, puffy scar remained.
She examined the work closer. She then smirked, shaking her head, “That is some incredible precision work there, Doc. I only look slightly maimed.”
“That, you can blame on yourself,” he joked.
She caught his eyes once more. How observant he seemed to be- hawklike. El could feel his gaze reach into her, extracting a sweet feeling she couldn’t call anything other than-
Carlisle broke the gaze, eyes flickering over to the door.
A knock was heard a moment or two later.
Jessica poked her head in, “Dr. Cullen, we have a fracture that just came.”
The man nodded, standing. Elise did as well, knowing her cue in the situation. Time was up.
The doctor looked to Elise, “Well, I hope you take this situation as a chance to realize not to use dull shears on vervain.”
She chuckled, “Well. I’ll just find another way to hurt myself then.”
They said their goodbyes, Elise making her way around out to the hall. It was a few muted steps in the hall before she stopped on a thought.
She cocked her head, to herself. Carlisle knew about the vervain…
… and she didn’t mention how she had gotten hurt.

A few hours ago, La Push, Emily's house:
Jacob stood in the opened door for not longer than a moment, watching you leaving the garage in his black towtruck. For the most part, you should be safe. Why the hell was Jacob so stressed about keeping you safe? You were, for now, just a normal Forks citizen like everyone else. Maybe it was just that you were his personal responsibility for some time now. He offered you a place to stay - naturally, you accepted the offer because you counted on being safe. And just ten minutes ago, a leech almost made you their personal lollipop or worse, they might've made a newborn out of you. Thanks to God, the shifter scent was too strong for the vampire. She saw Jacob waiting for you in the opened back door, but it was the typical stench that made her stop.
Jacob saw her for a fragment of a second, just standing there and watching you laying on the ground. Then, she gave Jacob a teasing smile and in the next second, she was gone. It was at that moment the man knew he had to send to some location which was overseen by the shifters all the time. There was also a second reason to keep you at Charlie's - that bitch surely smelled your scent. Since you didn't really live at the small flat, the werewolf scent wasn't covering you enough - and the raincoat didn't help much anyway. At the end of the day, it was you, who was still just a normal human being.
As soon as the truck disappeared behind the high school, Jacob walked to the back of the building and walked into the woods. Fuck the motorbikes, he was way faster on all four. He could borrow something from Sam, so he just bound the tore sweatpants around his upper thigh and let the animal take the lead. Of course, Leah and Quil noticed immediately - there was confusion in the group shared telepathic web. - 'Did something happen?' - Leah asked, but hadn't moved from her spot. She knew better than to annul the formation because Jacob had just shifted. At first, Jacob didn't answer and just let both her and Quil to look inside his mind. At first, both of them got way more confused when they saw the strange girl jumping out of the woods - yet then they felt it. The humongous smell of rotten tomatoes, the wolves could feel her presence and they saw her, just standing there with her eyes wild and hungry, the grin on her face was threatening.
'Okay, now I get it.' - Leah muttered after a moment. Sure, there was still a hint of confusion and curiosity regarding you in the shared consciousness, but honestly, you weren't that important in the bigger picture. - 'I can't believe she came so close! She was trying to get through here... I guess the cold one must've caught her scent. Are we going after her?' - Quil asked immediately, getting ready to run to Jake's position. - 'They're just trying how much closer they can get and top of that, that leech has already run away. I'm on way to Sam, we'll be trying to figure out a different system of watching Forks.' - Jake said in a calm voice, running in the direction of La Push at the highest speed he was capable of. - 'I'll be checking on the southern part of the city... Quil is on the west. Sam has five boys here today, so there will be no problem to run in circles around the town.' - Leah told Jake and since Quil caught on what she was doing, he immediately started to assure their leader as well. - 'No chance they're slipping, boss.'
Since that moment, both of them kept their thoughts silent. Quil and Leah were a good team - ever since Leah left Sam's pack, she became quieter and calmer. Now, she wasn't such a pain in the ass. And Quil didn't want to disturb with too much of empty thoughts in case something might've happened. For once, it was nice not to deal with Seth's endless sunshine energy. - 'I won't tell my little bro a thing, but thanks for the compliment.' - Leah laughed inside Jake's head. The phase where he was rolling his eyes after every word Leah said out loud was far behind him, now, he snickered lightly as well. - 'I would appreciate that. Okay, I'm at Sam's. Once we figure something out, I'll let you know.'
Jacob didn't wait for their answer and changed into his human form. Hastily, he put his old sweatpants on and ran to the house and knocked on the door. The twins, Emily and Sam's small girls, were running around the place and as Emily approached the door, she tried to calm the kids down. Yet as soon as they saw Jacob behind the door, they started to yell excitedly again. Emily wasn't stupid - as soon as she saw Jake visiting them during the day, even if Sam and Jake usually met during the nighttime watch, she knew something happened. The woman let Jacob inside and put cookies on the big plate in the middle of the table, saying... - "Give me a minute, I'll wake Sam up." - With that, she disappeared inside the house.
Sam was always taking his time getting up - yet when his wife said Jake's name and that he came just so he could talk with him, he tried his best. When he finally walked into the kitchen, half-dressed uncle Jake was sitting at the table with a muggle full of fresh coffee and watched small Brianna and Ellie drawing with various colors of wax crayons. It was just a small, peaceful moment that was not to last long. As soon as Jacob looked up to Sam, the older man could see the emotion in Jake's face. It... It wasn't fear, not even horror - it was rage. The younger man wasn't shifting, he was just angry. - "Angels?" - Sam smiled tiredly and kissed both of the twins on their temples. Both the girls smiled at their dad, but before Sam started talking again, Bri was already babbled at him, because both her front teeth fell out. - "Daddy, look! I drew you and mamma. And this is uncle Paul, auntie Rachel and... Auntie Leah and..."
The picture was more or less a formation of stickmen - each of them had a crazy hair color... But sure, it was the La Push family. - "You should go play to your room for a bit, my birds. Come on, I need to talk to uncle Jake. You can have him later." - Sam smiled. The girls hadn't got a favorite - but they were super pumped when Jacob came back to La Push since he was now living in Forks for the most part. Rachel and Paul were taking care of Billy, so he had more time for himself and his love for cars. - "Okay!" - Ellie cried out happily, picked a few crayons, and ran to their room with loud, happy squeals, Brianna following right after. These kids were always happy. Jake could see all the things Sam was fighting for. He had a lot to lose.
"Start talking. I know you're not here just to say hi." - Sam muttered out with a loud yawn, pouring some coffee into a mug as well. Emily was standing behind the stove, preparing some eggs and bacon for both the men. At that point, she didn't even ask - Jake just had to eat everything Emily had served. - "Yeah, something like that. That vampire bitch just showed up behind my house. Not even an hour ago." - "Did you try to catch her?" - Sam fired back immediately. Even though they had their differences back in the day, even if they argued a lot when Jacob left his pack, Sam was still worried about his brother in arms. For God's sake, they knew each other since they were small boys. Sam was just five years older. - "Unfortunately... Listen... She wasn't hunting me down, she was after someone else." - "That girl who's car crashed here? I've seen her in your head, just a glimpse." - Jake nodded.
"Well, this is getting worse and worse, I'm not going to lie. How did the girl get into trouble?" - Sam asked just when Emily served the breakfast; then she quickly kissed Sam's cheek, smiled at Jake, and left to the children's room so she would make sure they don't hear anything. - "I think she just went on a walk, she seemed off when I found her. Sam, Y/N realized something was in the forest with her." - "What did you tell her?" - "Well, I tried to misguide her, tell her that it was just a mountain lion." - For a moment, both the men fell silent. - "She might be on the target list now." - Sam muttered out after a moment. It took a while before everything clicked in Jake's brain. - "That girl borrowed my raincoat, but her scent was still too strong..." - "And if she saw you there, she might figure out that she's our weak spot. Where is she now? Is she safe?" - Sam didn't care who the hell you were - it could be anyone from Forks, La Push, Port Angeles and he would still care the same. The Protectors committed to protecting everyone in the town, no matter if they were a tourist or a local.
"Y/N? She's at Charlie's now, but he'll be coming to La Push later this afternoon. I asked him to take her with him. My people are here, your people are here - if they'd feel the slightest hint of the leech's stench, they'd go right after them. Leah and Quil are helping with watching the city boundaries." - Jacob leaned his back to the chair. His back was hurting really bad, but there was no time to rest now. - "How could the bloodsucker just slip past us? I don't understand?" - "We should call the doctor finally, ask him about the things regarding this group of leeches... I don't have a single good feeling about them."
Just ten minutes after Jacob proposed the idea, Sam was debating with Carlisle on the phone, describing everything about the group of vampires living near to Forks now. Carlisle said to Sam that this behavior can be considered normal - except the noticeable skills, these had with hiding their smell and tracks. Such vampires tended to be old and experiences - they had most probably encountered their first group of extremely good trackers; ones such as James was. After some time, the vampires who lived too long already wanted to feel the thrill of the game. James's talent was tracking - yet such things could be learned through hundreds of years of experience. It could be significantly harder since the shifters hadn't estimate how many of the players were out there. Sam's pack had encountered one, Jacob was one hundred percent positive there was a second one... But there could be one more. And once the vampires would figure out the right formation, there was nothing that would stop them. Well, this wasn't any good news. Fucking trackers.
"Do you think these old vampires might show here, doctor?" - Sam mumbled, listening to Carlisle's calm, enjoyable tone on a speaker. - "The Volturi?" - "Yes, I mean these we had already met. Can these be sent by them?" - For a moment, Carlisle was quiet, yet both men could hear chatter in the background. - "Hardly." - Alice's jolly voice answered suddenly. - "I can't see them even thinking about Forks or going there, or sending their people there. Aro is still hoping that he might get us, but... No. He doesn't choose to send his people your way." - She explained quickly. - "Are the vampires too conspicuous? I hadn't seen any news reporting murders in Forks." - Carlisle muttered after a moment, audibly going through some newspaper. This made Jake grin a bit; the man was still looking after his former place of stay. - "No." - Jacob said simply, which made Carlisle sigh. Well, that didn't mean anything good. - "Then the Volturi will hardly come to dismantle them, unfortunately. As long as the vampires aren't violating any laws, they won't be stopping them. Do you think that you need help?"
Clearly, Carlisle was asking 'should we come to help you?'. If there would be any sign that the pack can't do it on their own, they would spend no time sitting around. No matter what were the pack's members' opinions on the Cullens, Jacob had to say that the liked this family of leeches. - "No. We're doing just great, I just wanted to be informed. Have a nice Carlisle, nice hearing from you." - With that, Sam hung on the phone after the doctor said his goodbye and wished the men good luck. The news wasn't good at all. A pack of damn tackers who wanted to play a game with the pack.
After all, they were there to hunt - yet they were willing to take their time, wait for the pack to grew tired and then slip by in the dead of the night. What could've been worse? And the Volturi were neither behind this operation or about to stop it. There were dark clouds on the horizon, which wasn't making them any calmer. Both of them went for a short walk around Sam's house, trying to figure out... Something. And the only solution was... - "No. Sam, this isn't happening." - Jacob put both his hands on his chest, having the typical expression of an angry five-year-old. - "It's just a t-shirt." - Sam answered back, rolling his eyes. - "I already told her there are mountain lions... Sent her to a stranger's house and to a place she never been at. Now, I'll be stealing her clothes?" - Jacob snickered, shaking his head.
"She's the weak spot right now. They want to start a game, we will start a game, then - and on our own terms. All we need is her scent." - Jacob knew Sam was right, but... Seriously, you've been thinking about his ill intentions (killing you, let's be honest for a minute) since the first moment you saw him. And now, he was supposed to steal a piece of your clothing? Well... - "Okay. Okay. I'll try to get something. When we're talking about clothes, can you lend me some for the afternoon? I'll be picking her up on the beach." - With this question, both men walked back to the house for Jake to keep the promise. He spent playing with the girls a huge portion of his day, just before he fell asleep on Brianna's bed, snoring on the whole house.
To get to the beach, he certainly didn't use his human form. That would be too slow. He called to Billy's, making sure you're still at the beach - or if you decided to take off and maybe run away from Forks. Jacob wouldn't flinch at that. He wouldn't be surprised if you did. Yet, you still were there - with Rachel. The man groaned at that, as all little brothers do, rolling his eyes. He could only imagine everything Rachel told you about him. Dear Lord. Now, you could justify thinking like a killer when talking about him. Rachel didn't spare his good name at all, Jacob was positive there.
It was a busy day at the beach. Normally, Quil would spend his time there with Claire - yet the boy knew that sometimes, protecting the place because of the people you love is important as well. For a moment, he was just standing there and watched the sea lazily waving around - he knew that somewhere in the woods, there was Jared looking after the La Push territory. And just when he was thinking about that, he saw you and Rachel walking out of the forest side by side, laughing at something. Great. He could only guess how many stories did Rachel pull out.
Of course, he wouldn't Rachel walk home alone - it was almost six miles to their home after all. But he didn't plan on stopping on a visit either. Billy, who was in the elder council, naturally understood that Jacob was rather busy in the last few days - but Charlie did come to the car and made you roll down the window. - "I just wanted to ask... Hm... How was the beach?" - It looked like genuine interest from Charlie's part, which made you grin. It was nice of him to ask. - "Rachel showed me around... It was pretty impressive. I need to tell my friends about it, definitely." - Then, the cop shot a quick gaze at Jacob. For the love of God, he was hoping that the boy won't drag you into some funky business with him. - "If anything happens, I'm at the phone number all the time, okay?" - Charlie reassured himself before patting the side of the truck and leaving without waiting for you to answer. You were just watching him leaving back to the house, with a small smile on your face.
Jacob tried to ask you about your day, but you could tell that the 'worse' Jacob was now in the position. He didn't seem to smile a bit, he was kinda mumbly and quiet for the most part. As you walked into the garage again, you knew you had to do something. This couldn't wait two days. No. You had to do it immediately. As soon as he would sneak out, you'll follow right after. Yeah, mountain lions, sure... This made you grin as you worked on the paperwork once more. Throughout the whole time, you hadn't seen Jacob - the whole time, he was outside and worked on your Beetle, changing the smaller parts he had with him. It was obvious that you will have to visit a wrecking lot soon - in search of working components, hustling the best prices out of that. By the way, the components were even on sale - those which your car needed so desperately. The wrecking lots were your last chance.
Around the same time as the previous day, you've just told Jacob you're going to take a shower and go to sleep - which he only barely acknowledged. He was too busy working and thinking about Sam's theory. It wasn't right. The vampire girl saw Jacob looking out for you and even though she didn't know you two have nothing in common, she most likely connected you as partners of sorts. He could steal one of the t-shirts you've put into the laundry, couldn't he? All it took was an article of clothing to lure the leeches somewhere where they wouldn't be in advantage - like a huge plain, the one next to Ozette Lake. Fuck, this was uncomfortable. He couldn't even look you in the face.
That night, when he was leaving for the watch, he didn't even lock the door - it wouldn't be functional against a vampire. He was to stay nearby the town, looking after the damn house - while Embry and Seth, as humans, got their orders from Sam. Jacob didn't know what the strategy was - he had only Jared and Brody on the watch in Forks. Jared could be only barely counted in since he was sleeping while walking. The boy took a 24 lasting shift, no wonder he was so done.
As soon as you noticed Jake marching to the woods, you put his raincoat on, since it was raining again, and went after him, lurking in the shadows. If Jacob would be in his normal human self, he would hear you. He wouldn't smell you, since the rain and wind was making the scent trail fade away rather quickly, but he would know somewhere's there based on the sounds. You weren't as dumb to walk straight after him - you could barely see him, hiding behind the trees, but you could still hear him breathing. Dear God, was he breathing loud? You hadn't noticed before. Suddenly, he stopped and started to breathe quicker and quicker.
Curiosity got the better out of you, let's be honest here, as you sneaked past a few trees, getting closer to him, finally catching a good look at the man. He was... Breathing really quick, shaking. His muscles were visibly tensing under his skin, but you knew that something wasn't adding up here. Was he having a seizure? Was he chanting himself before another kill? Or was this the ritual after which the second part of his split personality came out? Fuck, you were confused. Your nails dug deeper into the tree and your breath hitched as the tension got the better out of you. Unknowingly, you pressed to the wet, cold tree and didn't blink from that point on.
It was fascination at its best. You didn't even jump when growls cut through the silence, resonating through the whole, quiet forest. The man fell on his knees, growling and grunting in immersive pain. And that was when you saw it - a strike of russet fur flying out of his body, traveling on his spine. And then... Jacob exploded. He quite literally was torn to shreds, just like his worn-out pants and instead of a man... There was a wolf, bigger than you. This animal could eat you like an appetizer and barely blink about it. No matter how beautiful the animal was, your brain couldn't grasp what was happening at the moment. In combination with holding your breath for the last minute, it resolved in one thing. As you forcefully grasped for any air, your head spun. Once, twice, and then you felt your body falling to the ground. Maybe, you would've got up, but you felt the back of your head hitting a root on the ground. A dull thud sounded through the forest as it started to fade away.
You fainted. This caught Jacob's attention as he realized something terrorizing - he had a lot to explain now.

Legend - Paul Lahote (1)

Pairing: Paul Lahote x Reader
Characters: Paul Lahote, Emily Young, Sam Uley, Jared Cameron, Embry Call, Quil Ateara
Warnings: N/A

Word Count: 715
Author: Hannah
You could honestly say that you had never even entertained the idea of leaving the home you had grown up in.
It has surprised you when your sister had gone to visit your relatives in La Push and then hadn’t come back.
She’d rang you to explain everything of course, and then told you about being in the hospital because of a bear attack.
It had been a month or so since Emily’s phone call and she’d finally invited you out to La Push to go and visit her.
As soon as you got to La Push, you’d felt a pull there as if you should have always lived there.
It was a strange feeling to describe but it somehow felt so familiar.
Sam had texted you, giving you the address for their house and he seemed to be looking forward to meeting you.
You saw your sister waiting on the porch when you pulled up in the truck and she waved when she saw you.
When you got out of the truck, you grabbed your bag and made your way over to the porch.
Emily pulled you into a hug before you had a chance to say anything about her scars.
“Em, what happened?”
She waved you off with a smile. “We can talk about that later, for now let’s just get you settled in.”
Once you’d unpacked all of your things, you made your way downstairs and was surprised to see four other guys in the living room who you definitely didn’t recognise.
They turned to look at you as you paused at the bottom of the stairs, but one guy in particular didn’t pull his eyes away from you.
Emily had a confused look on her face as she emerged from the kitchen with who you presumed to be Sam, and he has a knowing smile plastered across his face as he looked at the guy who still had his eyes on you.
“I’m guessing you’re Sam,” you spoke up as you walked across the living room to hold your hand out to your sister’s boyfriend.
He smiled at you, shaking your hand. “That would be me, yeah,” he stated with a chuckle. “And that makes you Y/N, my soon to be sister-in-law.”
You laughed at his response but nodded nonetheless. “Are these your friends?” you questioned as you motioned to the guys that still hadn’t moved from their places.
“We prefer the term ‘family’,” one guy joked as the others all looked at him with amused expressions.
Sam chuckled, shaking his head with a smile whilst Emily reached out to wrap her arm around you.
“These idiots here are Paul, Jared, Quil and Embry,” your sister introduced as she pointed at each guy in the room.
You then had the information that Paul was the one who wouldn’t stop staring at you, and when he started staring again you offered him a sheepish smile to which he returned a stunning smile of his own.
Emily disappeared back into the kitchen whilst you went to sit down in the living room.
Paul held his hand out to you. “Hi, I’m Paul.”
You smiled at him as you shook his hand. “Nice to meet you, I’m Y/N.”
It took a moment for you to realise that he was still holding your hand but a voice in the back of your head was telling you that he shouldn’t let go.
Whilst this notion confused you, you found yourself being able to slip into a conversation with Paul quite easily.
Not too long later, the four of the guys made a move to leave, all claiming to have other things to do but Paul lingered at the door and you could tell he didn’t want to go.
Sam eventually shut the door on him and then motioned for you to sit opposite him and Emily on the sofas.
“So, what do you think of Paul?” Emily quizzed you with a smile on her face.
You shrugged slightly. “He seems nice enough, but he kept staring at me.”
Sam chuckled. “I’m pretty sure I can explain why.”
Tilting your head in confusion, Sam took a deep breath.
“My life isn’t exactly normal,” he started with some hesitation present in his voice. “And our legends are true.”

chapter one: in which quil leaves y/n
y/n grit her teeth as she watched Quil goof off around with his new friends. People, he and y/n would make fun of, Sam Uley and his little gang of hall monitors on steroids. Quil had been ignoring her for the last week or so, the two of them being the only ones Sam Uley hadn't managed to recruit into his little gang.

Then suddenly, he turns up to school buff and 5 inches taller. She rolled her eyes and turned her gaze back to her concerned friend. "y/n, he left you, you're too good for him." Aliya, a close friend of hers whispered.

"I know," y/n chuckled to herself bitterly, "We were friends for 6 years, I'm just wondering what happened."
Aliya shook her head, "If he thinks he's too good for you then you should just leave it at that, don't fight for anyone who wouldn't do the same for you."
y/n felt slightly better and squeezed Aliya's arm gently in thanks, picking at her lunch. Quil turned to look at her not soon after, but y/n was busy trying to stop Aliya from stealing bites of her food.

He gazed at her longingly and let out a pitiful whimper. Paul winced and whacked Quil upside the head, "Quit it, you're making the rest of us feel bad."
"Didn't mean it," Quil mumbled, hanging his head, "I miss her."
Paul rolled his eyes, "We know you do, your thoughts are kind of loud, it's always, does y/n miss me? What if I call her? I'm not supposed to see her. Is she gonna call me?"

Quil ran a hand through his shaggy brown locks and breathed out deeply, "I just don't get why I can't talk to her. I won't hurt her."
Embry narrowed his eyes, "It's safer that way, I had to go through this as well, leaving you, Jacob and y/n."
"It was different for you."
"What?" Embry snorted, "I'm not head over heels in love with y/n?"

Quil grumbled to himself, angrily picking up his lunch tray, dumping the contents in the bin and putting his tray up. He walked off into his next class.

y/n merely only spared a glance towards Quil, not quite catching his eyes. Quil desperately tried to lock his gaze onto hers as he passed by y/n's table. y/n continued to pick at her food, shoving a piece of lettuce in her mouth as Aliya whispered something to her.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Go away Quil," y/n uttered from inside her house, she would, of course, recognize the sharp taps of her ex best friend's knuckles against the hardwood of her front door.

"y/n, please." Quil sounded pathetic, absolutely heartbroken. He had shown up at the front door of her house in the later hours of the day, begging and pleading with her to just come outside so they could talk.

"Go away,"

Quil huffed to himself, before ramming his shoulder into the door. y/n flinched and pushed against the door, hoping to hold him off.

"Leave, Quil! I don't want to see you."
"But I need to explain, please y/n.... please."
"No! You left, you left me alone, no calls, no text messages. That's six years of friendship down the drain, Quil!"

"I didn't mean to." He whined out, resting his forehead against the door, pausing his assault of her front door. "Sam told me I wasn't allowed to, he was scared I'd hurt you, it's why Jacob and Embry didn't talk to us."

"You didn't even say goodbye," y/n whispered out, slumping against the door, her emotions were a whirlwind.

Quil's superior hearing managed to pick up the words and he let out a slightly inaudible whine, he too slumped against the door, his emotions getting the best of him. "We can still be friends y/n, I just.. I just want to see you. I need to see you, open the door."
y/n furrowed her eyebrows, but complied. Quil was standing on her front porch, hair drenched from the rain. Her expression softened, as much as she wanted to get over her friendship with Quil, it was hard.

She ushered Quil in, bustling around the house to find him a towel. She stopped in front of him and handed over a towel, awkwardly looking towards the floor.

"y/n.." Quil said softly, bringing a hand up and tilting her face.

Their eyes connected and Quil gasped, images flashing through his mind. He felt warm, comforted, it felt right. He noticed y/n staring up at him curiously and froze, he ripped his hands away from her face and bolted right out of the house.

y/n's expressions hardened and she scoffed. She didn't know why she expected the meeting to go any different. Why she had hoped for Quil to go back to the way he was before.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quil breathed in deeply, resting his head in his hands, thinking over the previous events. 'Why did I leave. She could have..... if I told her.....maybe...' Images of the two of them kissing and holding each other flashed before his eyes.

"Stop it Quil," Sam commanded, leaning back against the couch.

Quil didn't move but his thoughts quieted.

"You imprinted on her."

"Yeah," Quil's voice came out shaky, "And I just left, I don't know why, I could have told her, she knows about the legends, she'd, she'd-"
"It's not fair," Leah says bitterly, "He gets to imprint on the girl he's in love with."
Jacob groaned from his spot in the room, "We get it Leah, you're going through your angst phase."

Jacob, himself was jealous as well, of course he would be, he and y/n shared some of the fondest memories he had to date. He missed her of course, they all did. She was great to be around, always offering advice and support, and yet she still had a bit of an ego.

Quil, the first to imprint, out of all of the pack. The first to experience the emotions that went hand in hand with the process.

"What do I do now? She hates me."
"Just talk to her." Paul said roughly, getting up and leaving the house.

It was unfair, stupid, heartbroken, Quil got to imprint on y/n. Pathetic, weak, Quil got to imprint on HIS mate. 'Quil thinks he's sooo special, stupid... I imprinted on her first.'

All thoughts from the rest of the pack ceased and Paul paused.

Quil got up angrily and marched up to Paul, "You what?"
"You heard me." Paul taunts.

"She's mine!" Quil roars out suddenly, gripping onto Paul's shirt, "She's mine, my best friend, my mate!"

"Ex best friend."
Quil reels his arm back and punches Paul with the hardest punch he could muster. Paul stumbled back a few feet clutching his nose and growling. The two began to twitch, hands balling up into fists.

"CALM DOWN!" Sam ordered, his voice booming out towards the clearing where Quil and Paul had begun to physically fight. The two ignored their alpha and the sound of tearing clothes and snapping bones could be heard.

Paul clamped his jaws around Quil's front leg, eliciting a whimper and Quil managed to headbutt Paul off of himself.

Sam growled to himself and shifted as well, quickly using his alpha voice to make the two stop. Quil and Paul both struggled and tried to fight against Sam, but they bowed their heads down to him, snarling and baring their teeth.

'Go phase back.'

She’s Always There (Paul Lahote x Reader)
Key:
Y/n: Your Name
Y/l/n: Your Last Name
Y/n/n: Your Nickname
Y/e/c: Your Eye Color
Y/h/c: Your Hair Color
Prompt Given To Me By @ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhghhhh.tumblr.com: hey!! so the reason I'm messaging is because I wanted to request something but can't fit it all into an ask lmao. anyways could i please request a Paul Lahote x reader where the reader has been super close to the whole pack for years and has been Paul's imprint but doesn't know it (bc Sam thought it would be best to keep u away from it all) and they decide to finally tell you about being shapeshifters and being Paul's imprint and you're so mad about them not telling u earlier and there's a huge argument and they and Paul tries to calm you down but you say stuff like 'leave me alone' and things like that and it sounds like you're rejecting him/the bond in ur angry breakdown. anyways Paul is heartbroken and can't get out of bed or eat or anything so the guys finally convince you to come back bc they and Paul need you and it's just the reader cuddling with him and getting him out of bed to take a shower and eat and he realizes that you're not going anywhere and it's just like healing the imprint bond? sorry for this WALL of text, I've just had this idea stuck in my head for a while lol. if you don't want to do it, that's completely fine!! thank you for your time ♡
ok so my guy,, bc this fic has been stuck in my head for a bit, some scenes have developed? so idk i hope this isn't too much, but if u do write it, would u be willing to add like some angst to it, obvi, and maybe a scene/part lol where when the reader tries to get him to shower (bc the misinterpreted rejection made him like super depressed and he just felt low about himself) he won't shower, because he doesn't want to come out and the reader is gone. so either they shower together (not smutty just angst&fluff) or she sits like in the bathroom while he showers LOL. and when he feels a bit better, they go down to eat and he's touching some part of her at all times. if this is too much to like,, include then that's a-okay. i just need to get this OUT of my MIND ugh lmao!/!
Reader Gender: Female
Summary: The Reader has been friends with most of the pack members for her whole life. Which is why, after months of silence and strange changes, she was willing to let them back into her life— until she finds out she’s been told lies that leave her in danger, of course. After a big freak out and two weeks of avoiding them, the boys come begging for her help; it turns out that Paul has some wolf-y claim on her, and whatever she said to him has left him worse for wear...
Warnings: Mentions of Depression, Nudity, Angst, and Cursing.
A/n: this is literally like a whole novel I’m so sorry I got carried away. this is kinda based on a lot of fics I read where the imprint has the potential to really hurt people and I named Paul’s dad.

“The legends are real!?”
Y/n Y/l/n hasn’t ever been so disturbed in her entire life.
After weeks of radio silence, Sam Uley’s little ‘gang’, mostly consisting of people she’d known since childhood, had slowly trickled back into her life. What started as a grocery run with Paul or a movie with Jared had turned into big bonfire parties including Jacob Black and his gaggle.
But that was months ago. Months. And now, as she sits by a fire, surrounded on either side by them, they decide to tell her their little secret?
“Y/n.” Sam says as she abruptly stands, eyes stern and hand raised placatingly.
His actions only served to upset her more and her skin bristles with irritation. Sam was acting as if she, a human surrounded by shape shifters, was the unstable one. As if she could do any damage to things built to kill vampires.
“Don’t you dare, Sam.” She clenches her fists, glaring right back at him. “It’s been months- months- and you’re telling me now?”
“It’s not exactly an easy thing to bring up.” He reasons, voice a little less demanding. “We all wanted to be sure that you were ready to know.”
“Ready?!” Y/n laughs mirthlessly, y/e/c eyes wide with disbelief, “When was I supposed to be ready Sam? W-when one of you gored me? When a cold one ripped me apart?”
Her hands shake as she puts them on her forehead, blinking back tears. Growing up all she’d ever heard were stories of humans getting dragged into fights between wolf and vampire, and she couldn’t bring herself to look Emily in the eye because it was suddenly apparent that wolves alone could hurt people too.
It was so bad, whatever happened to Emily, that they said a bear mauled her— Y/n didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
“It’s not like that, Y/n/n.” Embry chimes in, reaching out to grab his friend's arm.
She yanks her body out of the way and gathers her belongings quickly.
“What is it like then, Call?” She holds her bag to her heaving chest, “because it seems to me that you all have the ability to turn into giant, slobbery freaks that are built for killing vampires and, after completely dropping me for weeks, you decided to keep it secret from me for months. Did it even occur to you that I would’ve been better off knowing right off the bat?!”
No one says anything. Eight shifters and two of their girlfriends sit there, just staring at her like she was speaking a different language.
“You know,” Y/n has to clear her throat to steady her wavering voice, “had you guys really been souped-up on drugs like everyone says, maybe I could’ve handled the lying. But my life was clearly potentially in danger, and you let me hang around without saying anything. I- God I don’t want to see you people right now.”
She leaves with that, stepping over logs and storming back down the beach with determination. Faintly over the roar of her heartbeat, she can hear someone scrambling to stand behind her.
“Wait!— shit, sorry-” Paul grunts, jogging to catch up with her- “Y/n-“
With an unusual gentleness, his warm hand wrapped around her forearm. For a moment, deep in the back of her mind, a foreign feeling tells her to stop, to listen; but that small voice is quickly smothered by the rational part of her brain, and she wrenches her arm from his grip.
“Don’t touch me!” She snaps, lowering her voice, “Leave me alone- I need to be alone.”
Paul stands there, dumbstruck, an unreadable look in his eyes as she walks away. And he’d continue to stand there, looking like a kicked puppy long after her retreating form became a blur amongst the darkness of the beach.
“Paul?” Sam is hesitant, hand hovering over the younger boy’s shoulder a minute before he touches him, “You okay?”
Shrugging his leader’s arm off his shoulder, Paul sighs. “No...I...I’m just gonna head home.”
Instead of going in the directions of the cars, the wolf stalks off toward the woods; Emily stands from her seat, wrapping her sweater more around herself as she watches Paul leave. Concern is written all over her features.
“He’ll be fine, Em,” He pulls her in for a hug, “it’ll all work out eventually.”
ஓ๑♡๑ஓ
Y/n does a good job of avoiding them for a while.
She turns her phone off a few days in and avoids going to First Beach, even when Washington gets a rare, warm summer feel. Books that have sat long forgotten on her shelves get read and TV shows she’s always meant to catch up on get watched; it’s boring and she runs out of options, at one point thinking of dying her hair y/f/c just to spice things up, but it allows her to think. (Or at least it allows this strange little voice in the back of her head to tell her that she needs to go back to them.)
The next time she sees any of the boys is exactly two weeks after the bonfire incident.
She’s curled up on her couch, picking at some of the Clearwaters’ fish fry and barely watching an episode of ANTM, when a fist comes banging down on her door. Turning off the TV, she tiptoes to the window, peeking under the curtain as carefully as she can.
As she expected, Jared Cameron and Embry Call are on her porch, the former standing in front of her door with his hip cocked, the other rooting around in her mother’s plants for something. Cringing, she hopes if she’s quiet enough that they’ll just go away.
Her front door opens within minutes, however, and she realizes her hoping is fruitless.
Should’ve known you can’t hide from wolves, she can’t help but think bitterly.
“Y/n?” Jared calls out through the house, “we know you’re here.”
“Yeah, and you guys should probably move your spare key,” Embry tacks on, flicking the light switch to the living room up, “I've known you forever and it’s still in the same place.”
From her spot by the window, the y/h/c haired girl glares at the two boys, arms crossed over her chest. Embry gives her a lopsided grin and holds the key out to her, his bud plopping down on the couch and pulling her abandoned plate into his lap.
Y/n extends a hand to take the key.
“Has it really been in the same place?” She sounds a little more defeated than she’d like.
“Yeah, it’s always been in your mother’s cornflower pot.”
“That’s...kinda sad.” She wrinkles her nose, pocketing the key with the intention to hide it better later, “but uh, I’ve been ignoring you for two weeks for a reason. Peacefully breaking into my house kinda furthers my need for space.”
Embry scratches the back of his neck.
“Well,” He says, “we need you to come back, man. Paul won’t talk to anyone- Sam doesn’t know if he’s eating, and he won’t even get out of bed for patrol! He needs his imprint-”
“His what?” She cocks her head to the side and Jared snorts from the couch.
“She left before we got there, nimrod,” Jared mocks through a mouthful of food, “she doesn’t know what an imprint is.”
He lets out an indignant “Hey!” as Y/n walks by, snatching her plate back from him on her way to the kitchen. Embry chases after her, a grumpy Jared jumping up from the couch to follow.
“You’re his imprint— you’re basically his soulmate!”
“Really?” She says warily, sealing the fish and putting it back in the fridge.
Both boys nod clumsily.
“You remember a few weeks ago when you saw each other for the first time again and he kinda just stood there like an idiot while you talked?”
“Yeah? Oh!-” She brings her hands up to her mouth, brows furrowed as she recalls.
It was exactly Jared had said. She and Paul had seen one another for the first time in a long time and the minute her y/e/c eyes looked into his, it was like he’d been struck dumb.
Embry gives her an encouraging look, “An imprint is...It's not like love at first sight, really. It's more like… gravity moves… suddenly. It's not the earth holding you here anymore, she does… You become whatever she needs you to be, whether that's a protector, or a lover, or a friend. When you snapped at him last week he thought you were rejecting him….”
A part of her thought about how absurd it was that he knew that whole speech. But the bigger part of her came to a realization that made her stomach churn.
“So he's all depressed… because… of me?” She whispers, leaning back on the counter.
Embry, always a rather sympathetic person, opens his mouth to comfort her, but Jared cuts him off.
“Basically. So are you going to come with us so we can help Paul or are you going to continue being petty?”
In any other circumstance, Y/n probably would’ve thrown something at her for calling her petty. She felt she was completely justified in her actions. A part of her wonders if she can really believe them— they’d spent months lying to her after all. But a larger part thinks about Paul, curled up in his bed, slowly desecrating because he thinks she rejected him.
If it were really all some ploy to get her to listen to them, then she’d at least be the person who chose the well-being of her friend over a petty disagreement.
“I’m coming.” She affirms, pushing herself off the counter, and letting the boys lead her to the car.
ஓ๑♡๑ஓ
Jared and Embry drop her off in front of the Lahote household. They tell her something but she can’t really hear them over her heartbeat, she doesn’t even know they’re gone until it’s too late to turn back.
Getting into the house wasn’t the hard part. Paul’s father, Cyrus, had been leaving as she arrived, and, after he watched her stare at the house with a fearful expression for a few minutes, he happily let her in. The hard part was willing her legs to take her up the stairs to Paul’s room, and then it was opening his bedroom door.
Y/n has known Paul since they were eight, but she was afraid of him until they were eleven. He wasn’t mean, per se, but his anger made him do mean things; she wasn’t entirely happy with puberty and it’s monthly gifts, but whatever it did to make her suddenly un-afraid of him she was grateful for. But now, standing in front of his bedroom door, she had a nagging fear that Paul would revert to that eight year old boy who threw lunch boxes and twisted arms behind backs until people cried.
The door creaks slightly as she struggles to push it open.
His room is almost completely dark except for the light coming from the hallway behind her. Trash and dirty clothes have formed a compact layer on his bedroom floor, foot sized holes leading up to the twin sized bed in the corner. On the bed, amongst the blankets she’s sure he doesn’t need, is Paul— or at least, a Paul sized lump.
As gross as it is, she’s kind of relieved he’s been eating.
“Paul?” She whispers tentatively, stepping toward the bed.
The lump flinches and turns toward her.
“Y/n?”
If the room and the description of his state weren’t heartbreaking enough, his voice definitely was. Hollow, rough, and small, everything it never was, everything Paul wasn’t.
“Is that you?”
“Yeah...it’s me..”
She carefully steps over to the bed, and Paul slowly sits up, pushing his blankets to the side. There’s a beat of silence as she stands between his legs, his reluctant hands coming to rest on her waist after a minute. Y/n let’s him have another to gather his thoughts.
“You really came…” Tears well up in his eyes and loops his arms around her back.
She runs a hand through his hair. “I did, and I’m so sorry, if I had known—”
Paul nuzzles her stomach, “S’fine, you didn’t know, and you’re here now.”
There’s a sort of cute, euphoria lacing his voice and he’s visibly much more relaxed.
“Just don’t ever say that again…”
“I won’t, I promise.”
She’s surprised when he manhandles her into his lap, but she doesn’t really mind. He’s warm and strangely familiar and something about it just— clicks.
“When was the last time you spent, I dunno, a minute or two out of your room?” Y/n asks softly, y/e/c eyes glancing about the room.
The shifter’s only response is a shrug, too busy nosing around her neck with vigor. When he finds a certain spot, it makes her squeak, and this seems to excite him like a puppy finding out its favorite toy makes noise.
“You need to bathe, eat something substantial,” She intertwines their fingers, “and the...pack...they’re really worried about you— are you even listening to me?”
He looks up at her then and flashes her a sheepish smile, answering her question. Pursing her lips, she pulls his arms from around her.
“C’mon, Paul.” She stands up and takes his hand. “We’re gonna get you cleaned up.”
She moves toward the door, urging him forward, only to be jerked to a stop as he stays put. He looks a little distressed when she turns back to him, brows furrowed, almost like he’s in pain.
“Paul?”
He grunts, jaw clenched as the cogs turn in his head. Y/n cocks her head and reaches out for his other hand. It felt like some sort of supernatural intuition, one she’ll blame on the imprint and ask Emily about later.
“Paul, hon, why won’t you come shower?”
“I’m afraid you'll leave,” He says bashfully, “it’s stupid, I know, but part of me is afraid you’ll leave while I’m in the shower.”
Y/n couldn’t help but feel a little heartbroken at his confession. Paul was part wolf, and part of being part wolf was imprinting— she almost wishes she’d have stayed long enough to listen, or been able to focus as the boys debriefed her on the ride over because only being able to speculate how much she’d actually hurt him was eating her alive. He wouldn’t even shower, something he desperately needed to do, because of what she’d said.
Taking a deep breath, she barely registers the words she’s about to say.
“I’ll wait with you, I’ll sit on the toilet, you’ll see me there.”
And true to her word, Y/n does sit on the toilet while Paul showers, reading the information on soap bottles to distract herself from the fact that he was there next to her, very naked. Occasionally he asks her what she’s doing, and she reads the ingredients out loud to the best of her ability, and he laughs a little— she tries to hide her smile, but she was too happy he was laughing.
She closes her eyes when he gets out, letting him dry himself off and pull on some clean shorts. He throws the wet towel at her when he’s done, eliciting a “Hey!” that makes him laugh again.
Now that he’s clean, the two of them descend into his quiet house. Y/n navigates the kitchen, her wolf attached to her hip and being less than helpful, and makes them both something to eat— he doesn’t do much more than stand behind her, wrapped around her, making her life more difficult.
“I’m so happy you came back.” He says, watching her work.
“I was always going to.” Y/n responds, her voice sure and steady.
They talk as they eat, sitting across from one another at the too big table in the Lahote household. Talk about how this was going to work, admitting feelings that always lingered, and everything in between; she hooks her leg around his, watching him scarf down his meal with a wrinkled nose and fondness glittering in her y/e/c eyes.
He’s...gross...but he’s hers, she’s kind of stuck with him.
A date is planned. An actual date.
Paul promises to take her to the local diner (and to wear a shirt, for once.)
“I’ve been saving up for something like this.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, and you can get that dessert you like.”
Y/n laughs softly, but heat spreads up her neck and settles in her ears and cheeks. It’d been a long time since that had been her favorite food, but it was the thought that counted...
When Cyrus Lahote returns from work later that night his son and the Y/l/n girl are awkwardly situated on his couch— him on his back, snoring, her lying on top of him, face tucked into his neck, also fast asleep. The older man turns off the TV and tosses a blanket over the pair, ascending up the stairs with a smile on his face.
Y/n Y/l/n was trustworthy. She’s always there when Paul is in a rut too big for him to handle...

The Witch’s Companion
Imagine settling down in La Push and instantly hitting it off with a group of locals. You have an instant connection with Sam Uley and though you know exactly what the connection is, you find that you would rather have Sam tell you what it is. Only he has trouble finding a way and you find it rather amusing since you already know all about the supernatural realm. After all, you are a part of it.
Tumblr media
Words: 6.3K Author’s Note: This is so bad, but I didn’t wanna trash it. I needed something to post. My apologies.
Since coming into your magic, you've always felt like something was missing. No matter how much you studied or how much progress you made in mastering your abilities, you always felt incomplete. You stayed home long enough to complete your high school education and then worked a few years to earn some cash before deciding to take a chance out in the real world on your own.
Fortunately for you, however, your family knew you'd be leaving the coven and they were more than prepared to send you on your way with funds they had saved up over the years themselves. It was a tearful goodbye, but as soon as you were on the road you felt it in every fiber of your being that you were making the right choice.
You drove for hours on end, not content enough to stop until the moon was high in the sky, and then found the least skeezy motel you could find to stay the night in. Then after paying for the night and putting a sigil of protection on your truck so no one could peek through the windows or break a window without setting off a blaring alarm, you showered and prepared for bed. But as you laid in bed, you tossed and turned as your brain wouldn't shut off. So instead of counting sheep, you got back up and dug out some of your supplies from the bag you kept close to you at all times.
As you sat on the floor with your legs crossed beneath you and a map spread out in front of you, you lit four white candles and placed one on each corner of the map. You took a white crystal on a chain and let it pool in your hand before closing your eyes, then holding the crystal against your chest. With nothing but good intentions and the hope of finding that missing part of you, you rubbed the crystal over your heart before grabbing the chain and letting the crystal hang over the map. And then with your eyes still closed, you twirled the crystal over the map before holding your hand still and letting spirits guide the crystal so you have an inkling of where to drive next.
Minutes passed and when you felt the chain still in your hand, you opened your eyes and found the tip of the crystal pointing towards the North-West portion of the map. So with somewhat of a destination in mind, you packed your belongings and was finally able to fall asleep.
Over the next few days you drove and drove, stopping for bathroom breaks, food and rest when necessary. When you hit the west coast and then started driving north, you were skeptical about where the crystal had really been pointing. But then you get to Forks, Washington and something just feels different. It doesn't feel right, but it's damn near close and you decide to drive around some more.
It isn't until you drive onto the reservation in La Push that it feels like you can properly breathe for the first time ever and you nearly cry tears of relief. But before you can start making plans of settling down, you know there are some things that must be addressed. Because growing up in a coven and learning of every supernatural creature you could, you know La Push is home to the legends of spirit warriors. And behind every legend is truth. So in order to be on good terms with the locals and the elders of the tribe, you know you must ask permission to stay on their lands.
The elders, surprisingly, needed no convincing. They were wary of a witch's presence at first, but after explaining everything to them they seemed to perk up with interest. More than a couple of the elders had twinkling eyes when you spoke of feeling as if a part of you was missing and that you only felt at complete ease once you crossed their borders. They even gave you a few suggestions on available houses in the area and you took your leave after asking them to keep your heritage a secret. You wanted to meet people on your own time and not have anyone seek you out because of what you could do. They completely understood and wished you well.
So a couple weeks later, here you are staring up at your very own two bedroom house. You had some cash put away for this exact occasion, but really it was the elders of La Push who were such a tremendous help in helping you purchase the place. The house itself was practically surrounded by trees and far enough away from any neighbors which granted you all the privacy you needed. So in other words, it was perfect.
You still need furniture and appliances to fill the house, so you've given yourself a time limit of about a week to get everything you need because that's as long as you're willing to stay in a small motel down in Forks. You've already ordered a basic refrigerator and stove, and they're to be delivered in a couple days time. You're still on the lookout for beds and couches, but nothing's caught your eye, so for now you've come to the house prepared with cleaning supplies.
The inside of the house is in pretty great condition, the only thing you really have to do is give it a good dusting, wipe down, and mopping. So after opening up all the windows, you walked around the house with a duster on an extendable arm made sure to dust every corner, nook and cranny of the room. You Windex every glass surface you can before sweeping the floors and then fill up a mop bucket to get started on the floors.
Afterwards, as the floors finish drying, you sit on the porch with a sandwich and Gatorade you had packed into a small ice chest. When you're a little more halfway through, two trucks rumble down the path to your house and you set aside your food in order to stand up and greet them.
Tribal Elder Harry Clearwater is easily recognizable, as is his beautiful wife Sue who is sitting in the passenger seat across from him. The two boys in the truck behind them, however, are new.
Stepping off the porch and meeting your guests halfway, you greet them all with a smile. Sue is the only one to receive a hug whereas Harry offers a handshake. "Hello, Harry. What brings you down here?"
The older man chuckles. "Just wanted to see how you were settling in and introduce you to a few of the young ones."
You finally meet the gazes of the boys behind Harry, taking note of the tribal tattoos on their upper biceps that they're showing off thanks to their sleeveless shirts. Both are wearing cargo shirts and have bare feet which you hardly bat an eye at. "Hello." You wave at them, smiling softly.
"Hey," the slightly shorter of the two smirks, leaning forward and offering his hand, "I'm Paul."
As you grasp his hand, his warmth sends shivers down your spine. "Y/N. It's nice to meet you."
Paul shakes your hand a little longer than normal and you find yourself fighting back a laugh. "Paul, would you let her go? She's clearly not interested." His friend clamps a hand on his shoulder, pulling him back briefly before thrusting his own hand forward. "I'm Jared."
"Hi."
After greeting the two boys, you give a very amused Harry and Sue your attention once more. "So thanks for checking in. I'm just cleaning out the house right now. Getting it ready for deliveries."
"Oh?" Sue perks up. "What did you find?"
"Just a refrigerator and stove for now," you say with a small shrug and sheepish laugh. "I rather have the cabinets and refrigerator stocked with food rather than worry about comfortable bedding. If push comes to shove, I'll happily camp out on an air mattress while I find a decent bed."
Harry chuckles. "I figured you'd be having trouble finding some decent furniture, so I went ahead and went through our storage. Come on," he gestures for you to follow. "Come take a look."
"What?" You stare, wide-eyed, and Sue chuckles before nudging you to follow. You do, with the boys chuckling at your surprise, and you find a wooden bed frame laying in the bed of Harry's truck.
"It's a bit old," Harry then admits, "but it's still very sturdy. It was wasting away in our storage, so I figured it could go to a good home."
"Are- are you sure?"
"Of course," Sue assures you. "We also have a couch and a recliner if you're interested. They're still in really good condition."
"Well yeah! If you say it's in good condition and are willing to get rid of them, I'll happily take them off your hands."
"Excellent. Boys!" Harry catches Jared and Paul's attention. "Go back to my house and have Leah show you to the storage. She'll know what couch and recliner we want to get rid of."
"You got it, Harry."
Jared nods at Harry to let him know he's on it and Paul spares you one last lingering leer which prompts you to laugh and shake your head at him. Then turning to Sue, you ask, "So what do I owe you?"
But Sue is quick to wave you off. "Don't worry about it. Consider this as our house warming present. And," she's quick to cut you off when you open your mouth to retort, "if you feel like you owe us something, then all I ask is that you stop by the health clinic once you're truly settled in. You have a very healing nature about you and I'm sure you'd be a great help to our little community."
Catching her drift, you can't help but chuckle. "Sure thing, Sue."
With nothing else to be said, Harry and Sue help you unload the bed frame and carry it into your house and into the appropriate room. Fortunately Harry has a bag of tools in his truck and instructs you what screws go where since you were more capable of getting down on the floor than he was. Paul and Jared get back right before you finish putting together the frame, so Sue walks out to go instruct them to bring the furniture in.
Afterwards, as you and Harry join everyone in the living room, you smile kindly around at the occupants. "Boys, thanks for bringing the heavy stuff in."
"Don't even worry about it," Jared says. "If Sue and Harry are already this attached, I have a feeling you're good people."
Before Paul can comment, there's a bone chilling howl ripping through the air. It's not too close to the house, but it doesn't stop the boys from awkwardly chuckling afterwards and assuring you the wolves around the reservation are completely harmless. You keep a faint smile in place, nodding along, and force down your amusement at their hasty retreat.
Turning to Sue and Harry, you laugh. "They don't have a subtle bone in their body."
"No they do not," she muses.
A comfortable silence follows the three of you out onto the porch, watching as Paul and Jared drive away in a hurry. Seconds pass before Harry makes it clear they should get going too.
As you follow them to their truck, you say, "Thanks again for the furniture. If I head out now I can probably find a box spring and mattress, and actually sleep in my own house tonight."
Sue smiles. "I'm glad we could be of some help. If you need anything," she then reaches into her pocket, pulling out a small white card, "here's my number. Don't hesitate to call."
You take the card and glance at the number before pocketing it. "I won't. Thank you."
The married couple climb into the truck and as soon as they're settled and the engine rumbles to life, Harry leans out his window. "Don't take too long to let the boys in on your secret. I have a feeling you'll be seeing them more often than not now that two of them know where you live."
"How many are there?"
"Three as of right now," Harry says, "but we're keeping an eye on a few others."
"This pack keeps growing and the vampires will be too scared to step anywhere near La Push."
Harry chuckles. "That's fine by me."
With nothing else to be said and the Clearwater's wanting you to get everything you need before the stores shut down, they bid you farewell and take their leave. Then after making sure you shut all the windows to your house and lock up, you hop in your truck and drive to the city in hopes of getting a box spring and mattress to fit your new bed.
Tumblr media
Over the next few days, you get settled in and you've never felt more at peace. Even your magic seems to meshing better than ever within you and your coven back home couldn't have been more happier for you.
You've kept your promise to Sue, mixing concoctions that were easily added into lotions for aching joints and grinding powered mixtures that could be added to water that acted as a mild pain reliever. The reservation's clinic was mostly used by the elderly and you were glad you could offer them relief for their aching bones.
You've also run into Paul and Jared a handful of times, mostly at the grocery store and once when you had gone to the beach for the day. They had been leaving when you were just getting there and Paul had introduced you to his new girlfriend, but the way he couldn't take his eyes off her let you know it was something so much more. Jared kept trying to introduce you to his other friend, but apparently you and this so-called Sam just kept missing each other.
And it isn't until one drizzly day that you finally meet him.
You sleep in a little later than usual, the overcast sky and drizzling rain keeping you in a sleepy state. Then when you feel like you've laid in long enough, you get up and take the warmest shower you can before dressing cozy and curling up on your couch. Nothing on TV seems to catch your attention, so you turn it off and head into your kitchen. You're not particularly hungry, but you find yourself wanting to make something. So opening up your pantry, you find that you have all the ingredients you need to bake to your heart's content.
With your hair twisted up into a bun and the sleeves of your sweater pushed up to your elbows, you're mixing together the second batch of muffins as the first batch cools next to a peach cobbler. You've been in the baking zone, listening to the distant rumbling thunder, that when there's knocking on your front door it startles you into letting loose a yelp.
There's a bark of laughter before you hear the door creaking open and Paul and Jared walk in, both shirtless and in cut-off jean shorts. A third walks in behind them, this one unfamiliar, but you keep your attention on the two you do know.
Huffing, you set aside the bowl and pick up a washcloth to clean off your hands as you walk around the kitchen counter. "If you catch a cold, I am not helping you. Only idiots would run around barefoot in this type of weather we're having right now."
"Oooh, those muffins free game?" Jared asks, completely ignoring your words and walking around you. "I'm starving."
"Do I smell peach cobbler?" Paul then wonders, doing the same as his friend.
"Hey!" The third individual barks, Paul and Jared freezing at his tone. "Manners."
You smirk as the boys shift nervously and then look towards the still unknown man. "Thank you. You, my well mannered friend, are more than welcome to the snacks. I'm Y/N, by the way."
As he meets your gaze, his small smile falters. His eyes seem to subtly widen, his expression goes lax, and there's an instant connection with this man- a sense of warmth and comfort rushing through you. He feels like.. like home.
You blink and then.. oh. You know exactly what this is and while a little part of you is nervous because you hadn't planned to tell anyone other than the tribal elders what you were, you're also kind of excited.
"Sam?" Paul wonders, he and Jared snickering.
The second you break eye contact with him, he seems to come back to himself. Clearing his throat, he nods at you. "Sam. I'm Sam Uley." He then glares at the boys before sheepishly glancing at you once more.
You flash him a small smile. "Nice to finally meet you Sam Uley. Jared doesn't shut up about you."
"Hey!" The muffled response causes you to look at the boy in question and you roll your eyes fondly when you see his cheeks puffed out with the remains of a muffin he'd eaten when you weren't paying attention.
"So what brings you boys over here?" You ask as you walk back into the kitchen, whipping Jared with a small towel and shooing him towards the table.
"Just wanted to see how you were dealing with our weather," Paul says. "Now can I please have some of this cobbler? It smells really good."
"Have you eaten lunch yet? All that sweet is going to ruin your appetite."
Jared snorts as he takes a seat at the table. "Nothing can ruin our appetites. Trust me."
Paul is still eyeing the cobbler so you sigh and wave him on. "Go ahead. I'm sure you can find the plates and utensils." Then looking towards Sam, you smile. "Would you like to take a seat? There are brown sugar muffins, chocolate chip muffins and peach cobbler if you're interested."
"I, uh, yeah." He grins at you. "I'd like that."
Sam, Paul and Jared take over your kitchen table and instead of being annoyed you can't help but feel a bit of fondness for them. You're well aware of what the connection you had with Sam was and you wonder how long it'll take him to come clean to you since it's obvious all three at your table are shifters- Sam obviously being the alpha.
But putting that off for now, you walk into your kitchen and place some muffins in a bowl to take to the table. Jared is all too happy to immediately start digging in and Paul looks absolutely blissed out as he shovels bite after bite of peach cobbler into his mouth. Sam shakes his head at the two of them, but you find it all rather amusing.
Taking a muffin for himself and eating at a leisurely pace, Sam asks, "So how do you know the boys?"
"Sue and Harry introduced us when they brought over my bed," you tell him. Grabbing a few bottled waters from the refrigerator, you walk them over to the table and take a seat yourself. "Between you and me, I think the only reason Harry introduced us was because I'm a female living by myself. He wants me to have people in my corner should something ever happen."
Sam glances between you and the boys, and seeing as you're not offended he allows himself to chuckle. "Yeah. That sounds like Harry. He's good people."
"Oh for sure," you muse. "I kind of have this sense about people. I can tell who's a good and who's a bad one."
"Oh really?" Paul looks up long enough to spot the waters and take one for himself. "What do you sense about us?"
Jared freezes, Sam tenses and Paul smirks as he takes a gulp of his water. You lean back in your chair, crossing your arms over your chest, and smirk. "Honestly? I get a sense you and Jared are going to be giant pains in my ass."
Jared laughs, but Paul continues to smugly hold your gaze. "And what about Sam?"
Your gaze slides over to Sam who looks equal parts ready to strangle Paul and wondering what your answer is going to be. Eyes twinkling, you say, "That's to be determined."
Tumblr media
Now that you'd officially met Sam and he imprinted on you- though you weren't supposed to know that- it seemed like he was everywhere. You run into him at the grocery store, at the local health clinic, and at the beach. And then sometimes all three of them would show up on your porch to check up on you, but mostly to raid your kitchen.
Usually when you run into them you run into all three, so as you're sitting on the beach and just soaking in the peace, you're surprised to see Sam approaching all on his lonesome.
"This seat taken?" He asks, gesturing to the empty half of the blanket you're sitting on.
You grin up at him. "Do my eyes deceive me or are you actually wearing long sleeves and jeans?"
"Ha ha," he deadpans. Toeing off his boots, Sam steps onto your blanket and sits next to you. He grins at you before looking out to the restless ocean. "So what brings you out here on this cool afternoon?"
You shrug. "Nothing really. Just felt like listening to the waves. You?"
"Same. Had some free time so I figured I'd come out here to decompress. Spotting you was just a bonus."
"Flattery will get you everywhere, Mr. Uley."
Sam chuckles as he softly nudges you with his shoulder. You smile back at him, only to then look back out at the ocean. There's a moment where you and Sam just bask in the stillness of conversation before he's nudging you once more. "So tell me something, Y/N. What brought you out here to La Push?"
"I don't know if I want to tell you," you jokingly admit. "You'll think it's lame."
"No I won't. Come on, tell me."
Glancing at Sam you know you're in trouble at the sight of his small smile and the crinkles at the corners of his eyes. You keep his gaze, sigh with a fond roll of your eyes, and he chuckles knowing full well you've caved. "Have you ever felt like you didn't belong? That something was missing from your life and, even though you had a pretty good life, you knew there was something out in the world you were destined to find?"
"Not until recently," he replies quietly.
Sam's gaze darts all over your face before darting down to your lips and your heart skips a beat. "I, uh," you pause and awkwardly clear your throat, leaning sideways away from Sam for a moment to clear your head. "I didn't feel complete for a long time," you say. "So after finishing high school and working a few years to save up some cash, I packed all the things I couldn't live without and hopped into my truck. I drove in whatever direction felt right to me and it wasn't until I crossed into La Push territory that it felt like I could breathe properly. It was weird." Well not really now that you know why you were drawn to La Push, but you couldn't exactly tell him that. Not yet.
"That's not lame at all. That's- well I can kind of relate," he says. When you glance at Sam, his faint grin morphs into a smirk. "I'm glad you found what you were looking for here in La Push, Y/N. It seems everyone here has taken a shine to you."
"What can I say," you muse, batting your eyelashes at him, "I'm a very likable person." Sam's phone dings before he can retort and he offers you a sheepish smile as he pulls it out of his pocket. He reads whatever's on his screen and sighs, looking at you with an apology in his eyes. "Go. It's fine. We can always catch up another time. You do, after all, know where I live."
Sam nods and pulls his boots to himself, slipping them on his feet and lacing up. "Do you, uh, maybe want to grab something to eat sometime?"
His stammering and avoidance of your gaze makes you smile. You hum, drawing out your answer before saying, "Like one on one or a group thing?"
He shrugs. "More like a date thing."
"Sam Uley," you chuckle. "Asking me on a date and breaking hearts all across the Rez. Who would've guessed.." When he's finally brave enough to meet your gaze, you smile. "It's a date, Sam. Just let me know when and where."
Tumblr media
A date with Sam consisted of dinner at an Italian restaurant in Port Angeles. You had figured it'd be as awkward as first dates normally were, but from the moment he picked you up to the moment he dropped you off at your front porch and warmly pressed a kiss to your cheek, it was as if you and Sam had been doing this for ages. The conversation had flowed easily with quiet laughter here and there, and then you went for a walk around Port Angeles before deciding to call it a night.
The boys, when they took notice of you greeting Sam with a kiss to the cheek, took great pleasure in teasing the two of you. You could tell Sam was wary about it upsetting you, but you merely withheld food from the boys and they were quick to cut it out.
Sam slowly started to show up more often on his own, the casual touches turning into lingering touches, and it wasn't long until those on the Rez realized Sam was no longer on the market. Which was something Sue Clearwater was clearly ecstatic for, but it also led her to constantly nag you into telling Sam your secret since he was clearly struggling with admitting his own.
You've just gotten home from the grocery store, unloading the groceries when Sam pulls up.
Pausing in hauling the bags inside, you wait for Sam. He hops out of his own truck, grinning when he catches sight of you. "Hey, handsome. What are you doing?"
"Missed you." He leans down to kiss the corner of your mouth and you pout when he pulls away. He chuckles and takes the bags from your arms, grabbing another three from the backseat. "You have a good day?"
"It was decent." You shut the door to your truck, walking side by side with Sam up to your front door. Unlocking it, you push it open and let Sam walk in first. "I visited with Sue for a bit at the clinic and took the patients some goodies. What about you?"
"Decent. Got started on a table and chairs this couple want for their kitchen. Made good progress on it without Jared bugging me and Paul."
You laugh at the slight annoyance in Sam's features when he talks about Jared bugging him, but you know deep down that Sam would do anything for both Jared and Paul. He was just lucky right now since Jared was in his last year of high school and he had school five days out of the week which left Sam and Paul enough time to work without being pestered.
With Sam helping you, all the groceries are put away within a couple of minutes. You sigh with exhaustion, but a smile stays on your face because of the company you have. Sam walks over to you, wrapping his arms around your shoulders and bringing you in against his chest. You sigh again, this time in contentment, and wrap your arms around his waist.
"Wanna take a nap?"
"Oh god," you groan. "Yes please."
Sam chuckles as you drag him to the living room, the sofa big enough to comfortably nap on. You both kick your shoes off and you impatiently wait for Sam to lay down and get comfortable before you lay down in front of him. With your back against his chest and his arm wrapped securely around your waist so you don't fall off, you close your eyes and listen to Sam's breathing to lull you to sleep.
Minutes pass and then, "Y/N?"
"Hmm?"
"I, uh, I need to tell you something."
Your eyes fly open. Is this it? Is this when he tells me he's a shifter? "Okay.."
"But I can't tell you until after the bonfire which I'm hoping you'll attend with me tonight."
Oh. "A bonfire sounds nice," you admit. "But whatever you have to tell me isn't bad, is it? Because now I'm going to be worried about it for the rest of the day."
Sam's laughter rumbles from behind you. "Nah. You have nothing to worry about. Get some rest, sweetheart. We deserve it."
          - - - - - - - - - -
You and Sam fall asleep longer than you had anticipated, and it takes Paul barging into your house and startling you awake to realize how much time has passed. You remain grumpy and half asleep the entire time Sam tells you about the appropriate clothing for the beach bonfire, which Paul finds absolutely hilarious, and he only shut ups about it when you threaten to make him walk back to the beach since he had apparently walked to your house.
When you get to the beach, Sam takes your hand in his and you smile at him before he leads you to where there's already a roaring fire dancing under the night sky. There's a small group gathered around, but the ones who stick out to you the most are the tribal elders who appear as if they're holding court. Sam sits you on a log close to the fire before asking if you want anything and at your furrowed brow he gestures to the table of food that's dwindling down by the minute.
As you tell Sam you only want a hot drink, he leaves you be and you watch as everyone mingles. From across the fire Harry gives you a nod in greeting and you nod back. Your eyes are drawn to Paul who is wrapped around his girlfriend and you can't help but smile at how smitten he is with her. Jared is tossing chips at some young boy, the two of them running around as another unknown female watches them with fond exasperation.
All too soon Sam is taking a seat next to you, thigh to thigh, as his left arm goes around your shoulders after handing you a steaming cup of hot chocolate. You smile at him before snuggling into his warmth and blowing on your drink. Then when everyone settles down and Harry starts talking, you realize he's telling the legends about the Quileute Spirit Warriors.
You've heard the legends about the spirit warriors and cold ones, but never in such great detail and you're absolutely enthralled.
Afterwards, after being introduced to several more people and Sam dropping you back off at home, he walks you up to the porch. His hands are tucked deep into his pockets and he sighs, and you can just tell something is on his mind.
Grinning, you grab him by his belt loops and pull him closer to you. "What's wrong? I could hear you thinking on the drive here."
"Nothing." He automatically shakes his head. You raise an eyebrow at him and he exhales quietly. "I just- I'm curious as to what you thought about the bonfire. Only certain people have the special privilege of attending and I-"
"I loved it." You're quick to assure him. 'And I'm honored I was able to sit in."
"You didn't think it was odd? People turning into giant wolves and cold ones draining people."
You shake your head, smiling fondly. "Sam, I love learning about other cultures and their legends. Honestly, I had an amazing time." His shoulders sag in relief and you chuckle. "So do you want to tell me what else is on your mind?"
He shakes his head. "Maybe another time." His hands reach up to cradle your face and he brings you in to press a kiss to your forehead. "I'll see you tomorrow morning."
Tumblr media
As the weeks pass, your happiness with Sam starts to dwindle under the pressure of his secret. For some reason, coming out and telling you all that you heard at the bonfire was true was harder than he had imagined. Of course you could have told him your secret to ease him into telling you his, but you were holding back as well.
Sue and Harry have had enough, however, after Sam snaps at Paul and Jared and starts straining the bond between the three of them. So sitting outside of your house, you wait for Sam to show up. If he won't tell you he's alpha of the Quileute pack, then you'll tell him your own secret and see what happens then.
Sam shows up on time and as he exits his truck, you stand up and walk towards the edge of the porch. He smiles in greeting, but you can see the strain behind it and you sigh. Immediately you wrap your arms around him, pressing your cheek against his chest.
"Come inside with me. I need to show you something."
"Uh oh. Should I be worried?" He says.
"Not at all." You pull back from him, pecking his lips. "But I am worried about how you're going to take it."
Sam's small smile falters, but you don't have any reassuring words for him. Now that it's out in the open about you having a secret too, you can see why Sam held back. It's scary. But it's out there now and there's no way in hell you're going to back out. So grabbing hold of one of Sam's hands, you turn around to lead him inside.
You lead Sam into your bedroom and gesture for him to take a seat on one side of your bed while you sit across from him. With one leg hanging off the side of the bed and your other curled inward, you grab one of your pillows and strip the cover off of it. "Can you rip it open?"
Sam huffs. "What? You want me to rip apart your pillow?"
"Yeah. I just- the feathers," you mutter. "Trust me." He stares at you a moment longer before grabbing your pillow and ripping the top sheet layer of it. You grin and reach in, scooping out a handful of the white and gray feathers. "So, um, please don't hate me."
"Hate you? I can never hate you, Y/N."
"You say that now, but-" Heart pounding, you lay the feathers down down on the bed right in front of your leg. Your hands tremble, but you're quick to shake it out and take a breath. Your smile wobbles as you briefly meet Sam's gaze and then you hold your hands just above the feathers. Concentrating deeply on them, you slowly lift your hands and the feathers slowly follow. You hear Sam sharply inhale as the feathers levitate and then start to twirl in a circular motion. "So, um, I'm a witch," you admit. "And to make things easier for you, I already know the secret you've been struggling to tell me."
"H-How?"
Your hands drop and you finally meet Sam's astonished gaze. "My coven's grimoire. It's filled with all sorts of knowledge of every supernatural creature out there and, though the passage on the spirit warriors of the Quileute tribe wasn't as detailed as what Harry said around the bonfire, it was enough to clue me in on what you, Paul, and Jared were the second I laid eyes on you. Well that and the fact the tribal elders told me when I asked their permission to live on the Rez."
Sam huffs and then does the unexpected. He reaches across your gutted pillow and tugs on your arm until you're crawling over and onto his lap. He holds you tight, chuckling quietly, and shoves his face into the side of your neck. You hesitantly wrap your arms back around him, sighing in relief. "You really should have told me sooner. It's been killing me not telling you about us."
"Yeah, well it's going to get a whole lot easier." He pulls back then, staring at you warily. "I know about the imprint thing too."
Sam's eyes widen. "You do?"
"Yep. Witches don't necessarily have mates, but we do have a sense of things. Since I came into my magic, there had always been a part of me that was searching for something."
"Yeah. Yeah I remember you mentioning that," Sam says.
"Well that something was you." The confession makes you nervously shift in his lap. "Whatever it was, it led me here to La Push. And then I saw you and.. I don't know. You felt like comfort. And home. And I knew-"
Sam cuts you off, grasping your chin between his fingers and facing you towards him. His lips press against yours and it takes a moment for your mind to be brought up to speed as to what's going on. When it does, you gasp and Sam smiles against your lips.
"Don't laugh at me," you mumble. "You caught me off guard."
Sam chuckles, his smile wide and eyes crinkling at the corners. It's one of his more genuine smiles and it feels like this huge weight has been lifted off your chest. "So the alpha and his witch," he muses. "The boys are going to be in for a shock."
"I was thinking more along the lines of the witch and her companion, but the alpha and the witch works too." You lean in and press your lips to his, once, twice, and then one more time. "And can we hold off on telling the boys? I kind of want to shock them with the reveal."
"Sure thing, sweetheart. We'll go at your pace."
"My pace, huh? I like the sound of that."
