-Im home- the blonde girl shouted closing the door behind her to find his angry fiancee in the couch.

-Where have you been all day?- he asked angry not even stealing a glance at her.

-I had a lot of errands to run, and meetings and a lot- She took her shoes off and when she was about to sit next to his fiancee, he got up.

-Im hungry, yn.- He said, just that.

-Oh well, I had dinner with Megan so I'm not hungry but I can make you some company if you'd lik- she was interrupted.

-I don't care, what did you made?- he sniffed getting to the kitchen.

-Nothing Tom, I just told you I've been out all day, I thought you'll bring something.

-He rolled his eyes- Come on yn! You couldn't even cook?

-I can make you something quick like a sandwich- yn said approaching the fridge- Or if you want something else, I can heat the pasta from Tuesday- She got out the container where it was such food and just heard an annoying snort.

-It's Thursday, I'm not gonna eat that nor the sandwich, I'm sick of them.

-Im sorry Tom, I really am, but I'm so tired and we don't have all that much of food.

-You know what? Forget it, I'm going anywhere else- he took his keys, wallet and jacket and got out, yn just say there without knowing what to do, and a notification appeared on her phone, it was her manager, Megan.

She let out an excited squeal, she was so ready to do a movie and more a musical, she was famous yes, but mostly because of who she was with or who's sister she was, and this movie was her way to make her own name.

The time passed, one hour, two hours and Tom hadn't appeared nor answer any calls or text and she was worried sick, she couldn't get her self to sleep or nothing, and one of her best friends called her, like it was a tradition, that every Thursday they had a facetime but this wasn't the best moment.

Taylor was right, she needed to leave Tom, she knew how toxic everything was but God, it's not easy to leave, and mostly because she cared for him and thought that Tom felt the same, how naive she was, while she went to sleep worried, you'll see what Tom was doing.

August 11.

Yn got up, and went downstairs to find Tom passed out in the couch, she just shook her head and got ready to go to the gym, on her way there, her phone was getting a lot of notifications but it was on silent, so she didn't heard it, arriving to the gym, it was empty, so she got her ipod out and played some music.

After some hours, she got ready to leave, after a shower and a quick change of clothes she took her bag and left, it was weird cause the receiptonist looked at her saying "I'm sorry" and outside there were a lot of paparazzis trying to get photos or interviews, yn had no idea what was going on, some girls helped her to get in the car, and finally she saw her phone filled with messages saying "are you ok?" "What you'll do?" "You need anything?" She got scared and ran to Megan's chat.

That was all you needed, you opened twitter, you couldn't believe the picture you just saw and the went to Instagram which was blowing up too...

Yn couldn't even see, her eyes were blurry with tears, the paparazzi were still taking photos of yn, so she dried her tears and drove, yn didn't knew where but she had to get out.

After some time driving, yn found a cute and empty street, she parked and saw a café really peaceful and lonely too, yn sat down and started crying more and more.

An old lady came to her, and asked if she were okay, yn just shook her head, the lady didn't knew what to do.

-Im gonna make you some tea, so you can relax, ok?- She said at which yn nodded and continued sobbing.

Then a blonde, tall guy sat in front of her, and she couldn't see his eyes, he was wearing sunglasses.

-Hey, are you okay? Well, what a dumb question, I can see your not.

-Yn laughed a little and raised up her eyes to see him.- I just found out that my boyfriend is a dirtbag... And now I have to leave him.- Her voice started to cut as she told the story, the blonde guy reached his purse and got out a chocolate bar.

-Eat some, it's dark chocolate, always helps me.- he smiled as he offered the chocolate, the blonde girl smiled and took a little bit.

-Thanks, I'm yn by the way and I prefer white chocolate.

The guy just chuckled to himself.- Nice to meet you yn, I'm Austin.

-Nice to meet you too.- More calm, she took her tea, payed and was ready to confront what was in front of her.- Are you here daily?

-When I don't work, yes, hope to see you around then.

-You will Austin.- She said in with that she left.

But rather than adding more meaning to Season 1, this season – if viewers choose to accept the narrative – has the opposite effect. This is meant to shock and titillate to make viewers gasp and go back to Season 1, rewatching it with new perspective, even when the writing and performances bear no hint of Season 2 (because it hadn't been planned). Credit: Beth Dubber/NetflixĪdditionally – mild spoiler – it seems that adding to Hannah's story effectively means adding more drinking, drugs, and sex. In Season 2 of '13 Reasons Why,' Clay (Dylan Minnette) has hallucinations of the deceased Hannah Baker (Katherine Langford), amidst numerous other problems. Hannah may have been selective and emotionally distressed, but the chapters she apparently left out range from puzzling to pivotal (Zach's in particular). "Did she say everything on your tape?" Zach retorts.īut in Season 1, we were told that we did have the whole story. Clay (Dylan Minnette) confronts Zach (Ross Butler), asking why none of his revelations from the witness stand came up in Hannah's tape. This is addressed, lazily, more than once.

The puzzle pieces now add up to a different big picture, which means Hannah was in a very different place when she chose to take her own life. The problem is that they don't just add to her story they alter it. Season 2 tells us that Hannah was an unreliable narrator, but potentially introduces a dozen more.ġ3 Reasons Why Season 2's main narrative tool, new flashbacks to Hannah's life, is difficult to digest. Meanwhile, the Bakers (Kate Walsh and Brian D'arcy James) are embroiled in a nasty law suit against the school district that calls many of the students to testify Season 1 was tapes, and Season 2 is testimony. The problem is that the tapes are apparently only the tip of the iceberg, and Season 2 reveals huge chapters of Hannah's life – all involving the people on the tapes – that were never even hinted at previously.

Season 2 finds Hannah's (Katherine Langford) peers at Liberty High School trying to move past her death by suicide, and the tapes she left behind addressing a dozen of them and one teacher. Pick up my sci-fi novel series, The Earthborn Trilogy, which is now in print, online and on audiobook.Hannah and Clay in '13 Reasons Why' will break your heart I don’t know, I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt, but the more I hear about 13 Reasons Why season 2, the stranger it sounds.įollow me on Twitter and on Facebook. Honestly, the return of Hannah raises more questions than answers, and I wonder if they’re moving in the right conceptual direction here as adding more from her story or subtracting from it with “new reveals” might actually make season one worse in some ways. It’s certainly a unique challenge to draft a season two for a show that seemed like it would work best as a self-contained miniseries. In the end, no one was really disputing the major points of Hannah’s accusations, so it seems sort of weird to go back to this if the show is planning on flipping some of these season one stories on their heads. But other than vague accusations of “that didn’t happen” by those on the tapes, I can’t think of many other times this was actually the case. The only memorable difference from Hannah’s story to reality that I can even remember was the Zach episode where Hannah saw him crumple up and toss the note she wrote him in her “memory,” but in reality we see that didn’t happen as Zach still has the note. This was pretty strongly hinted at throughout season one, and at one point I was worried that this was all building to say, Clay being accused of assault by Hannah or something that he just gets completely blindsided by.īut none of that actually panned out. Yorkey is hinting at the idea that “12 other kids” have different versions of Hannah’s story as described in the tapes, alluding to a popular theory as the show was going that Hannah was lying in the tapes to make herself look better and those she was accusing look worse. While I understand the desire to keep Langford around as she was an asset to the show, continuing to focus on Hannah with so many other unresolved storylines in play seems odd.
