Tango India - Azul
Hey! We've finally reached the last song of September. Does this mean that I'll only curate non-Costarican music from here and on? No, absolutely not. Actually, yesterday I found a playlist with a lot of small CR bands and artists, and I just have to say that I found a goldmine. I also created my own playlist, which is still in the works to be released, but it'll be soon, I promise.
Now, about this weeks song, it's called 'Azul (literally 'blue'), from the Costarican band Tango India, which is also the country code for CR planes, and the name of a nightclub that has a plane inside it. You can find the lyric video on youtube, as always, on hatto's dumpster youtube channel
Fun fact (not so funny, very mid): the volcano you can see on the background of the video and it's cover is the Arenal Volcano, here in CR, Alajuela province.
About the band
Tango India started when its 2 first members (and actually the only consistent ones) Felipe Solís and Juan Diego Villegas decided to form a band around the end of the 90s. In 98' they released their fist LP '¿dónde estás si no es aquí?' (which Azul is also part of) and in 99' they started polishing their live performances and added 3 other musicians: Gabriel Wiernik, Alonso Carballo and Marco Castro.
At the same time, the asked several Costarican radios for sponsor. Azul and Esperaré earned the group its takeoff. The label Líderes got them in touch with Sony Music for their second album 'Máquina del tiempo' [time machine] which was released in 2004. Then, they spent a good while in hiatus, and returned around 2008 for more live shows in San José (CR capital) but also in places like Naranjo, San Carlos and Grecia, just some of the locations outside San José downtown, which are often forgotten by artists.
2018 saw their 3rd album: Dios y Demonios [God and Demons], and after that we've seen a couple other singles being released, the latest one 'Let Your Light Shine' in 2021.
About the song
'Azul' is the 3rd track of TI's debut album ¿dónde estás si no es aquí? [where are you if not here?], and I'd say the one that Ticos remember the most when asked about the band.
It is a masterpiece for everything: its lyrics, its instrumentation, its melodies, its chemistry among the musicians, you name it. Combining traditional rock instruments like the electric guitar, bass or the drums with not so traditional stuff like a nylon guitar or its most distinctive sound, the violin, it creates a warm atmosphere throughout the song.
At around 3:04 we can hear an epic feeling bridge, which, to be honest, I wish was longer than it is; only to have the song come back to its main energy about 30 seconds later, leading to a great ending.
Any meaning?
Based on what JD Villegas said on an interview with a local newspaper about how the band decided to make music about love and its surrounding topics, we can almost 100% say for sure that this is a song about a past love interest, and how it is hard to get over a breakup.
You can follow Tango India on facebook, instagram and of course on spotify and youtube

Day 25 of 25
Bon Jovi - Keep the Faith
Tumblr media
I’ve been given a task to choose 25 albums that greatly influenced my taste in music. One per day for 25 consecutive days. Random order. No explanation, no reviews, just album covers.
Normally I should nominate someone every day to do the same. I decided not to  nominate anyone in particular and everyone who wants to play along is free to join. If you aren’t interested, no problem.

Part 2 of the Country Girl x Rockstar Series!
Jon Bon Jovi
The Whiskey to the Honkytonk Bar
*********************************************************
“Since when did they turn the Whiskey to a country bar?” Tico wondered as the five of them walked inside to the loudness of the country band on the stage and the people wondering around inside. Jon laid his eyes on the female singer, she had long dirty blonde hair, full lips that were curled into a smile as she sang, a cowboy hat with pheasant feathers sticking out from it, and in a midnight blue jumpsuit with fringe on the legs of it with cowboy boots. The lady singer was curvy and her swaying hips could send anyone into a trance.
“Since these country bumpkins took over.” Alec huffed as he sat down, his eyes glued to the stage as David got them all whiskeys. “At least the chick singer is hot.” The man with a head full of blonde curls shrugged as he glanced over at the band. Richie nodded in agreement as he watched on. The chick singer sat on a stool, pulling an acoustic guitar into her lap. “Alright y’all,” her soft purr with a slight twang to it rang out as she smiled to her crowd. “Last song of the night and I hope y’all like Willie Nelson.” She chuckled as she started to strum on her guitar.
The song was slower, a bit sad maybe to some. “In the twilight glow I see her.” Her voice came out soft, sounding like Willie Nelson but as a woman. Her voice was earthy, a little nasally, and the way she held notes longer fit all together perfectly. “Blue eyes cryin’ in the rain.” Her booted foot tapped along to the song as her eyes held a sleepy look to them as she kept them down while she sang. “When we kissed goodbye and parted.. I knew we’d never meet again.”
Jon watched as she sang softly, unlike what she was singing like mere moments ago. Her voice was a little louder, but not to a screeching point. She was good, really good and looked good while she did it. Her fingers strummed and moved over the guitar smoothly, a tell tale sign that she had been playing for a while. The song was short, just a couple minutes long and as it ended people broke out into cheers and clapping. The country woman stood with her band and thanked the crowd before coming off.
Not long after a group of ‘country bumpkins’ came barreling out of the back. “A bottle of beam for that table in the back.” The country woman smiled to the bartender as she leaned over the bar with her thumb pointed over her shoulder to where a rowdy group of cowboys were sitting. “Here ya go. You played great by the way.” The bartender smiled, she thanked him before walking off and taking a large swig of the whiskey that had been handed to her. Richie breathed out and shook his head. “What a woman.” He uttered as he watched as she didn’t even make a face at the burning liquor that went down her throat with ease.
“She has a great voice.” Jon said as he glanced over to see her sitting and laughing with her band, her pretty smile glimmering in the dim lights of the Whiskey. “For a country band.” David shrugged as they sat at the bar and talked, the country woman coming up a few times to get pitchers of beers. A couple hours had passed and loud whooping came from the back table where the country folks sat.
Jon looked over to see the female country singer on top of the table, more than a half full pitcher of beer to her mouth as she chugged it. It ran down her chin, dripped down her chest, and on to the midnight blue jumpsuit she was wearing. “Fuck yes, Laramie! Finish it!” One of her band members yelled out as his fist pounded against the table. Laramie was too focused on finishing the large half full pitcher of beer to even glance over at him. More cheers and whooping came out as it was emptying rather quickly. Even others from the crow around the country singers were cheering her on. “Holy fuck. Look at that girl go.” Alec shook his head at the woman downing the beer like it was nothing. She was drinking it like water.
“Fuck! Wooo!” She yelled out as the now empty pitcher was held up in the air and enough of it down the front of her, soaking the top of her stage outfit. cheering rang out from all over the bar, even from Richie, David, and Alec. “I’m gonna get more.” She slurred to her band who laughed and helped her off the table as she stumbled over to the bar once again. This time she bumped into Jon as he sat on the stool, her drunken haze betraying her eyesight as she stumbled.
“Sorry.” She slurred with a hiccup. Jon laughed and held her arm lightly to help her stand straight. “It’s alright. Hey, you were great on stage by the way.” He told her and she grinned at him from under her cowboy hat. “Why thank you, baby.” She patted his arm and yelled out to the bartender for another pitcher of beer. Tico couldn’t help but laugh. “Baby?” He questioned Jon, but the singer just shrugged and watched on as the country woman waved over the bartender.
“Sorry, I can’t give you anymore.” He told her and she scoffed. “It’s for my friends.” She hiccuped again, her accent 10 times thicker with all the alcohol in her system. “Then send them up here.” He told her and went off. Laramie groaned and slapped her hand on the table before turning around and yelling out to her cowboy band. “Beau!” She yelled across the bar. “Beau! Get your fuckin’ ass up here!” She yelled at him. He looked over to her like a lost puppy in a sort of way before bounding over. “What?” He yelled as he came up to her, putting his arm over her shoulders. “He won’t give me any more fuckin’ beer. You have to get it.” She hiccuped more. Jon chuckled in amusement.
Beau groaned and got the bartender once more, getting another pitcher of beer successfully. “Wanna join us?” She turned back to Jon as she leaned up against the bar, one of her hips popped out. “Uh sure.” He nodded and stood, but then one of the bar goers came up, putting his hand on Laramie’s hip. She turned around with a disgruntled face. “Good singing up there, sweetheart.” He smiled as his hand trailed to her ass.
“Get the fuck off me.” She curled her lip at the man. “Oh come on. I’m just trying to give you a compliment.” He tried again. “You don’t wanna do this.” She shook her head, a different look in her eyes as she stared up at the man trying to woo her. “Come on man, get off her.” Jon tried but he was shrugged off as the man gave a slap to the country girl’s ass. She sighed and sat her hat crown up on the bar. “You’ve done it now motherfucker.” Her fist then connected to the man’s face in a swift right hook. He groaned and stumbled back just enough for Laramie to kick him down with her boot.
Jon and his band watched on with widened eyes. “We’ve gotta go!” She yelled out to her band and all of them took off running with the pitcher of beer out of the bar. Jon watched as they all rushed out of the door and down the street, laughing like maniacs.
*********
There’s definitely gonna be a pt 2 to this one!! Let me know what y’all think of it:))))

Okay, buckle up guys, this is gonna be a long one…
So, a bit of a story time to start with. I went to like the last and only Birmingham UK Creation Con when it was over. I managed to get autographs with Jared and Jensen, and I was having a great time and living my best SPN life.
It came time to line up for the autos and I went to Jared’s line first. When I got to the front, much to my delight he was playing Bon Jovi as his signing music. I have been a major fan of Bon Jovi since Crush came out back in 2000, and Jared is my favourite so I just said “I love your music, dude,” he smiled, thanked me, signed my shit and I left happy.
Until I got to the front of Jensen’s line. Now one thing you need to know about me is that I am a total dork. I can’t speak to famous people and it is one of the main reasons I never want to meet any of my favourites in real life. Jared was clearly an anomaly. So I got to Jensen, and he was playing something almost techno. It wasn’t good, but I’m not a techno girl so the only thing that came out of my mouth was:
“His music’s better than yours.”
My brain is screaming at me, threatening me with imploding just to get out of the situation my stupid mouth had put me in. And Jensen just looked at me.
“What’s he playing?” he asks me. I’m beet red at this point. I’m surprised anything came out of my mouth to be absolutely honest with you.
“Bon Jovi,” I almost whispered, the words fighting past my brain who had apparently decided that I wasn’t allowed to speak properly for the rest of the weekend.
“Still?” He asks, and all I do is nod. And then he looks at his assistant and goes: “Put some Zeppelin on or something will ya, cos that’s the second person who’s told me that,” and then he smiled and I escaped.
So with all that being said, It was Jon Bon Jovi’s 61st birthday last week. And as well as this story living in my head rent free at all times and playing back on a continual loop, I also started to think about how Bon Jovi was a bit of a ‘guilty pleasure’ band when it came to Supernatural. From Dean making fun of Sam for checking in under the name Sambora (the original lead guitarist from Bon Jovi), to them singing Wanted in season 3…they were never seen as seriously as bands like AC/DC, Kansas and the like.
However, I made up a playlist of my favourite Bon Jovi songs the other day so I could relive my teenage years, and as I was listening to it, it was jarring to realise how many of the songs had lyrics which really spoke to the characters of Dean, Sam and Cas. It’s weird, but as I was listening to the songs all I could see was where they might slip into the storyline. It might be the fan fic writer in me (who am I kidding, it definitely is), but it’s all I could think of and now I want to share it all here. So we’ve got the name of the song, who I think it relates to, the album and a clip of lyrics that I think prove my point…enjoy!
1 – Runaway (Bon Jovi, 1984)
“All your life all you asked when your daddy gonna talk to you, but we’re living in another world, tryin’ to get your message through. No one heard a single word you said. They should have seen it in your eyes, what was going around your head…”
Well this is clearly pre-season 1 Sam. I see it as him trying to get it through to John about how he wanted something different from his life.
2 – You Give Love a Bad Name (Slippery When Wet, 1986)
“An angel’s smile is what you sell, you promise me heaven then put me through hell. Chains of love, got a hold on me, when passion’s a prison you can’t break free…”
I see this as a young Dean. Womanising, young, just sleeping through the lower 48…loving and leaving them really. A bit of an edge and dangerous with it too…you know exactly the person he changes from as Supernatural continues on
3 – I’d Die For You (Slippery When Wet, 1986)
“If you could see inside my heart, then you would understand, I’d never mean to hurt you, baby, I’m not that kind of man. I might not say I’m sorry, yeah I might talk tough sometimes, and I might forget the little things or keep you hangin’ on the line…”
So I would definitely say this was pretty much Dean’s personal anthem for Sam. I don’t think much more explanation is needed but this is literally Dean’s mantra when it comes to his baby brother. It shows that he is flawed but everything he is doing he does it for Sam. It may be a love song originally but the words really do ring true with brotherly love too.
4 – Bad Medicine (New Jersey, 1988)
“I ain’t got a fever, I got a permanent disease, it’ll take more than a doctor to prescribe a remedy, I got lots of money but it isn’t what I need, gonna take more than a shot to get this poison out of me. And I got all the symptoms, count em, one, two, three…”
Well if this isn’t just how Ruby got Sam hooked on Demon Blood?
5 – Born to be my Baby (New Jersey, 1988)
“Light a candle, blow the world away, table for two on a TV tray. It ain’t fancy baby, but that’s okay, our time, our way. So hold me close better hang on tight, buckle up baby it’s a bumpy ride, we’re two kids hitching down the road of life, our world, our fight…”
So I see this as a young Dean not knowing any nursery rhymes and singing this to Sam to get him to sleep when they were alone and John was out hunting…
6 – Keep the Faith (Keep the Faith, 1992)
“Father, father, please believe me, I am laying down my guns. I am broken like an arrow, forgive me, forgive your Wayward Son…”
Well taking the obvious quote out of the way…this is for Dean. About Dean.
7 – Hey God (These Days, 1995)
“Hey God, tell me what the hell is going on. It seems like all the good shit’s gone, It keeps on getting harder hangin’ on, but hey, hey, hey, hey God. There’s nights you know I wanna scream, these days you’re even harder to believe, I know how busy you must be, but hey, hey, hey, hey God, do you even think about me?”
So I’m seeing this as Season 4 and 5 Dean and even Cas a bit later on, when he starts to question Chuck’s plan. When they all think that Chuck is good and have no idea what his plan actually is for them all…
8 – These Days (These Days, 1995)
“I was walking around, just a face in the crowd, tryin’ to keep myself out of the rain. Saw a vagabond king with a Styrofoam crown wonder if I might end up the same. There’s a man out on the corner, singing old songs about change, everybody’s got their cross to bear these days…”
I have Castiel in my head, just been made newly human and been thrown out of the Bunker and abandoned by Dean and trying to get through his new life.
9 – It’s My Life (Crush 2000)
“It’s my life, it’s now or never, but I ain’t gonna live forever, I just want to live while I’m alive. My heart it’s like an open highway, like Frankie said ‘I did it my way’, I just wanna live while I’m alive…”
Is this Sam and Dean when they realise they are Michael and Lucifer’s vessels?
10 – Undivided (Bounce, 2002)
“I found spirit, they couldn’t ruin it, I found courage in the smoke and dust, I found faith in the sounds of silence, deep down it’s ringing out in each of us,”
Pretty much the entire undercurrent of the second half of the series. The way in which Cas and the Winchesters fight back each time against fate and what has been written for them.
11 – Everyday (Bounce, 2002)
“I used to be the kind of guy, who never let you look inside, I’d smile when I was crying, I had nothing but a life to lose, thought I had a lot to prove, in my life there’s no denying…”
This is exactly how Dean was in the beginning before his character growth. He had to be the strong fighter and not show any weakness at all (‘no chick flick moments’)
12 – Bounce (Bounce, 2002)
“Bounce, bounce, nothing’s gonna keep me down, bounce, bounce, stand up shout it out, bounce bounce, I play hard I play to win, count me out, count me in, I’ll be coming back again…”
This is Sam, Dean and Cas. Dead and out so many times but they always find a way to come back. And that’s why we love them
13 – Always (Crossroads, 1994)
“And I, will love you, baby, Always, and I’ll be there forever and a day, always. I’ll be there til the stars don’t shine, til the heavens burst and the words don’t rhyme, and I know, when I die, you’ll be on my mind and I’ll love you always…”
Well unlucky number thirteen and my last choice is for everyone’s favourite angel, Castiel. I don’t think I need to explain this one??
Anyway, here’s the link for the playlist with all of these on them and a few more that I love so have a listen if you’ve gotten this far and let me know what you think:

Gandhi - El Invisible
Hello! I finally got all the Mario Duarte posts complete with their Spanish audio, and of course, it'll be the same for this one.
We're on the second week of the Central American independence month, which includes Costa Rica, yada, yada, yada, I covered that already. This week's song is one the most important Latin, Costarican Rock classics, and it's called 'El Invisible' ('The Invisible Man' would be the most accurate translation)
But before we get into the song, let's check the band (I love this song but I know the research I'm about to start will be EXTENSE)
About the band
'Gandhi' is a Costarican band formed in 1993 in CR's capital city, San José. Gandhi is:
Luis Montalbert-Smith Echeverría: voice, guitar and keyboards, Abel Guier Oreamuno: Bass, Massimo Hernández Osti: drums, and Federico Miranda Garnier: guitar.
Though musicians Bruno Porter, Mauricio Pauly, Luis Arenas, Bernardo Trejos and Mario Carvajal also formed part of the band in its beginnings, the lineup above has been the only official one, and has remained unchanged for 25 years and 10 different albums.
So, the band started back in 1993 when Federico and Luis met at highschool and formed a band. They won 2nd place and from there, Gandhi started to get cultivated, at that point in time, without knowledge of the boys, something bigger was born.
Following years later, after several live shows, the band released their first album in 1997, titled 'En el Jardín del Corazón' (in the heart's garden), and today's song was part of it. Then in 1999 they released their second album with a remasterized version of 'El Invisible' which was also very requested on local radios even before the relaunch. All of this catapulted them to be at the top of Costarican rock and in general music scene, where they stay as memorable as bands like Malpaís, José Capmany and Café con Leche, Marfil or Evolución, among others.
I remember, personally, that I discovered Gandhi because of their 2009 album 'Arigato No!', which also took them to La Antigua Aduana in where they performed and recorded a DVD for the album, which has been called the best concert from a national band in the history of Costarican rock. The success of this album had them play alongside Aerosmith's 2009 concert in La Guácima.
in 2014 they presented with Costa Rica's National Symphonic Orchestra, and went to China to play in two of Beijing's most important festivals. There's also a documentary that you can watch here (and I personally will, maybe a reaction video could come out of it? idk)
Then the 7th album, 'Universo Asimetrico' came, and the band earned an ACAM award. In 2018, Gandhi celebrated their 25th anniversary. In 2020, they released their X album: 'Boicot: Victoria' [Boycott: Victory], and I'm pretty sure we'll have Gandhi for another while.
That is basically what they have done, you know, I try to condense as much history as I can but in some cases it becomes impossible to make it short (and I have to admit I wanted to be as extense as possible with the CR bands)
About the song
'El Invisible' (as said before, the most accurate translation would be 'the invisible man') is a Latin rock song, with very distinctive sounds like the güiro that starts playing at around 0:05 and that goes practically all through the song.
You can also hear a rhythmic pattern on the melodic guitar and bass that you may recognize from the bassline on songs like 'Smooth (ft. Rob Thomas)' or 'Oye Como Va' both by Santana.
At around 1:04 (and later on on the second bridge) the congas are also pretty evident, giving it one more Latin music element.
Of course, at 1:17 (and the other choruses of the song) you'll indubitably find that very specific type of riff, which, fair enough, sounds pretty Santana, but that's because Santana plays a lot of Latin rock.
Finally, at 3:07 the 2 final elements on a Latin rock track appear: the clean piano (that has a rhythm close to that in bolero music) and the guitar solo, tying everything together on a track that is as iconic as all of its elements.
Any meaning?
Thanks to my girlfriend who actually listens to a lot more music in Spanish than me, and is a philologist, writer and poet, and thus has a way better understanding of Spanish lyrics than I'll ever have.
So, she said basically this:
'El Invisible' refers to a lover that is not by her side anymore, and that she cannot forget, and so, his memories will always be present.
However it could also refer to that 'blue prince' (with a bit of spice) who knows exactly what she likes, and when to do it; without implying it was a past lover.
Or, as well, it's the guy saying that he's that perfect lover, even without knowing if she thinks the same.
The type of metaphors used can have more than one interpretation, which seems to actually be Gandhi's idea, because they want multiple experiences from multiple people to be relatable to the song.
Follow Gandhi on social media like instagram and facebook.
You can stream their music on spotify, youtube, and bandcamp.

Midnight Succumb
A Cinderella (band) short story
Tumblr media
We headed to Moscow, Russia where a second fascinating event was waiting for us and everything was ready, we just needed to get to the place … or that was what should happen.
We needed two buses and ours was full. Two full tour vehicles took us to our destination, and the snow threatened to fall soon. When it began, I must admit, that the surroundings looked beautiful with the dark sky and small snowflakes covering everything that the sight could appreciate. Almost everyone slept in their seats, or at least on my bus, they did while I watched over Tom towards the window. That image of peace was perfect, perhaps too much, and I came to think >> what can ruin this splendid view? <<. Sometimes it is better not to question or challenge nature because this can be explicit in their explanations.
When I was about to fall asleep with the calm silence, I felt a small tremor that, as I opened my eyes, became potent. The bus began to shake violently and after hitting something we went flying suspended in the air. The silence turned into the grinding of the vehicle, shouts of panic, and the second bus crashing into ours and pushing us farther. While time froze for me, and I was detaching myself from the seat, what I may be able to contemplate was the complete chaos of people flying around and glass breaking.
The bus was completely turned over when I was able to react, and several of my colleagues were lying all over the snow. I had that buzzing sensation in my ears when the next scream I heard was Tom’s. It was not necessary to get up a lot when I found my partner hung from a window screaming in pain, and how could he not? He was hanging from a window, his arm was separating, leaving him suspended only by tendons and ligaments that were slowly cut. I ran to him, intending to help him and to secure him to prevent him from falling or getting any more hurt. He broke off his limb in a burst of gore and a heartrending scream that froze my blood. He fell over me in a second but smaller, disgusting explosion of vital fluids. I was in pain, but Tom’s suffering did not compare to mine. Furthermore, I listened to the most horrible shrieks that in my whole life I had heard and that were impregnating my head. I was motionless on the ground holding Tom who was losing blood every second and scream-crying in pain. I felt impotent, I could not do anything but be covered by the beautiful snow that turned red, and the sky hid the moon with thick clouds. My friend was still screeching at the sight of his arm holding on tight but disembodied as the last drops of blood fell. I felt so helpless just by staying on the ground holding him and watching the sky amid the screams of everyone.
It took a little while for a man from an ambulance to take Tom away, and I was still there like a damn useless dog … I could not stand up and follow everyone, other cars kept crashing because of us. The snow changed its white innocence by the color of death. It was when a man put me on a mask and I fell asleep while my head played ‘The Sound of Silence’ as a macabre background music, and my tears spilled. I closed my eyes, fearing the idea of never waking up, or that any other of them won’t open theirs either.
When I woke up, it was another night and I could only ask myself where all of them were. I was alone in a room, I didn’t know how, but I ended up alone with a small blow on the head that left a bruise on a large part of my face. I left my room and found several nurses and doctors who did not complete themselves on that cold night. The concert no longer mattered and well, with so many broken bones, I would not worry about moving anymore.
I was still watching my hands, I felt guilty. I felt that I had torn Tom off his arm, and I wanted to run, cry and vomit, all at the same time, while a cough was drowned in my throat.
“It was not your fault,” said a voice behind me, and with wet eyes, I found Richie Sambora with a collar and his left eye full of blood.
“It was my responsibility” I replied with a low and weak voice tone. “No, it was not” he insisted and sat next to me in the waiting room while a Russian newscast was projected on the television and a nurse ran, carrying three coolers to the hospital center.
“Do you know if the others are fine?” I asked with difficulty.
“Well … Fred lost several teeth and fractured an ankle pretty badly. Jeff is fine, but it will be hard to carry that guitar with a broken collar bone” he answered by clearing my face of my blonde bangs, a nurse shouted things that we couldn’t understand.
“Will they cancel the concert?” he asked and with the little strength that I had, I answered “No band can move, and it will be difficult for everyone. I hope this concert go the fuck away right now” he just looked at the floor and then at me,“ Jon’s arm, did you see it? One shoulder came out from his body.”
-----------------
In a small bedroom, fortunately, Bon Jovi members were together in a place for two, for a small hospital at the side of the road, it was a miracle to have a place where they could stay during the snowfall and was more than filled.
“Hey Tico!” Jon yelled, but his friend did not respond, he was under the effect of some medication to calm the pain which also made him asleep “Alec! Do you know if someone died?” David asked.
“Just a reporter, the organs exploded inside him. Or that’s the only thing that I’ve heard so far.”
------------
I was sitting in the waiting room watching the world go by. Tommy Lee was shouting at a doctor, two nurses were crying inconsolably because a small child couldn’t be saved after our buses caused so much damage. I was convinced that I was responsible for all this. What could I do to fix my errors? I cried for the last two hours, enough to feel that I have no tears left.
My heart seemed to stop when the first funeral hearse arrived to pick up several of my companions. I was terrified, and I felt my blood dropping and making me dizzy slowly. I wanted to cry, but I hyperventilated instead. I took strength and ran to the bathroom to vomit for the next few minutes and go back to the waiting room to torture myself.
Tom was dying, he lost lots of blood, and it was getting too late for him after almost 5 hours of surgery. The news affected me badly, and I went back to the bathroom crying and puking again. Time passed, and I did not leave the cubicle to be able to help my friend. I wanted to die and stop suffering, the funeral floats did not stop arriving and in each of them, my heart broke more.
“Get out,” a voice said outside, and I wiped my tears, thinking the worst had arrived, and a doctor had called me to notify my best friend’s death. Instead of, outside, an elegant redhead man was looking at me with a polite smile.
“Are you thinking about taking him back to America?” I said, crossing my arms, and the man laughed. “What’s so funny?” I asked.
“I’m the devil and I want to help you” The redhead spoke and took off his hat revealing a couple of horns that made my heart beat fast, giving me pain.
“Is a joke! A SICK FUCKING JOKE!” I screamed at him. The redhead looked into my eyes and I suddenly had no injuries on me.
“How you did do that?”
“I’m the devil, I can do anything”
“Even/save/Tom?”. The man smiled and nodded, “But I need you to give me life for a life”. I looked down and noticed a gun in his hand and grabbed it. Inside I was sure to do that, but outside was scared. I wasn’t controlling that, though, but I grabbed the gun and bit it with my teeth.
“You know. The only good way to commit a perfect suicide is shooting at the back of your head,” he said, taking out the gun from my mouth. I was sweating and shaking, but I was committed to do anything to fix my error and bring everyone back to life.
Then, the man was no longer a man. I was looking at the most perfect creature in front of me, blinded by its beauty. He guided my hand with the shotgun to the back of my head, and in a second everything was over.
---------
Tom woke up by miracle feeling good and his arm was back. He looked at a corner where a fancy redhead man stared back.
“You know you can save your band, right?” the devil said and walked at Tom, “But I would need… a life for a life…”

I just found out about Tico and the Triumphs (very late)
apparently, it was a band with Paul Simon (as Jerry Landis), Marty Cooper (i swear I've heard his name before somewhere 🤨), Gail Lynn, Mickey Borack, and Howie Beck in the early 60s— at least that’s what I got off from comments on youtube (very credible indeed)
I couldn’t find much but their discography (with about a dozen songs- the motorcycle was their most famous) just scratching the surface (I'll dig deeper later)
the first song I listened to by them was Motorcycle, which gave out a lot of Baby Driver vibes(?), just with more doo-wop in it
not my type of music, but I can appreciate Paul’s rock star phase
