Just so you know I added Buster Move from The Turbo Netflix Series because I forgot to add him in my last post
So just to clarify, Buster Move is NOT voiced by Harland Williams! He is voice by Dana Snyder!

An Essay: Trans History and Retcons Regarding IDW1 Arcee and Her Spotlight
As we've slowly learned more and deeply immersed into IDW1 Arcee's writing over the years, finding much more than just kinship to her, we felt this urge to dig further, to understand, feeling threads that were there regarding trans history, but not having much knowledge regarding historical transmedicalism, so we dug. We dug because we wanted to show that Arcee's writing from 2012-2018 not only is a beautiful trans story unique in science fiction, but that her personality there and in part in her Spotlight (which absolutely did not intend trans stuff and walked into a minefield in that regard that inadvertently opened up the opportunity for the writing and consulting team in Phase 2 and Phase 3 to figure out beautiful character arcs for her) are direct successors of the original personality frameworks for G1 Arcees, and to show the impact and legacy of both Sunbow/Marvel and IDW Arcees along with more Arcees combined on many versions of her thereafter.
Here's the introductory paragraph:
In much of the last decade, a lot of people familiar with Transformers’ trans stories appreciate Arcee being trans and her arcs in that regard from 2012 onwards. But during those six years from 2012-2018 where her narratives that firmly navigated her agency as a trans gal were being established by a number of writers, with consulting help in 2015 for Ask Vector Prime and 2018 for IDW1, there was and remains uncertainty over how exactly that works for her, specifically for her comic iteration where her transness was first hinted and then plainly stated. The variety of understandings in this regard in part originates from her introduction to the IDW1 run, Spotlight Arcee, in 2008, which was received rather turbulently because of how it portrayed her gender and transformer gals at large. Writing years after would navigate resolving this rather beautifully as showing Arcee having struggled with transmedicalism, isolation, abandonment, loneliness, and alienation, the brutality of a violent (and androcentric) world, as many trans people across gender and parallel spectrums or lacks thereof have in real life. Her story is done in a wlw trans gal context in particular. She is shown getting closure on all this, finding her happiness by the end of that continuity that would along with her story at large as a sweet, ferocious, outspoken old warrior sage help set the tone for her portrayals afterwards. Much of this overlaps with how she was described in her The Transformers Universe bio all the way back in 1986. In these regards, we (the writer of this is plural, we'll have a note about that near the end) think it is pertinent to take another look at how her story played out, what was actually written and shown vs. what was intended, to navigate transmedicalist history that overlaps with her story, and to show that Arcee’s trans iterations are directly part of the legacy of G1 Arcee overall
also a brief fact check edit regarding HRT:
we said HRT only effects hormones but realized we should fact check that, and apparently for some people HRT does effect their genes!! (this is separate from the discussion of gender journeys and epigenetics which we personally know next to nothing about) this a deeply understudied topic you can read about it here:
Gender-affirming hormone therapy induces specific DNA methylation changes in blood

I think my favorite part about being a writer and just taking canon and going “No.” Ambulon? Alive and worried 24/7 Red and Fort Max and Prowl? Gay and recovering Arcee and Anode and Lug? Happily murdering, thieving, and resurrecting folks in peace. Tarn? Dead as hell. Piece of shit.

It dawned on me this morning that—at the start of the competition, Hex isn’t very experienced with large scale projects or building full-sized robots.
He’s built a lot of smaller scale robots in his garage, using stuff he’s found lying around, (like the toaster, which he got in big trouble for disassembling...)
…But due to his small size and lack of proper resources, his robots were never quite up to the elite standards he wanted them to be, looking more ‘kiddish’ and cobbled together’ than ‘sleek’ and ‘epic’ like how he visualized in his head.
His fascination with video games—in particular a game franchise called Hero Mania— is what got him into coding and inventing in the first place; seeing as they featured giant hero mechs, which he became inspired to one day build and control/pilot in real life.
But his inability to make The Thing™ a reality, along with all the negative voices in his life got him discouraged. So, he began to focus on the digital side of things instead.
Tumblr media
His headset acts very much like a VR one, giving him access to a 3D digital space where he can work with and build his creations while not being limited by resources or space.
Using this and his custom coded tablet, he ends up focusing more on coding, writing up programs, and building digital versions of the robots and suits he wants to bring to life.
But until he meets Lug, he has no idea how he’s ever going to pull it off— or if it’s even possible. But the bulldog loves the whole concept and wants to see him succeed, so he helps him obtain bigger and better materials. Helps him with the building side of things, and even encourages him to silence out those negative voices.
He’s also the one to introduce Hex to the competition in the first place. He thinks it’ll be good for Hex to try his hand in a place with other inventors.
Not to mention—the Athos Corporation has a plethora of supplies and space, something Hex can use to attempt one of his larger scale robots. (Although of course, they don’t understand just how tricky doing that will actually be until they’re already in it.)
⭐️ Bonus note to add: During prelims, people—including Starline—do end up judging Hex on his robots’ appearance since it is still quite crude. But his programming and what he makes it do is what really blows them away.
It’s the only reason he and Lug even get through the first round in the first place. And why Starline tracks them down to get them to join his team.
So yeah! There’s your character lore dump for the day. :)

Found Family Tournament Round 1 Part 28 Group 140
Propaganda and further images under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rusties: Rodney Copperbottom, Lugnut/Lug, Fender Pinwheeler, Piper Pinwheeler, Diesel Springer, Crank Casey (& Wonderbot, Aunt Fanny, Cappy)
Protectors of Spiral City: Abraham Slamkowski/Abraham Slam, Mark Markz/Barbalien, Gail Gibbons/Golden Gail, Madame Dragonfly, TLK-E WLK-E/Talky Walky, Colonel Randall Weird (& Joseph Weber/Black Hammer)
Submissions are still open!
Rusties:
Within the societal structure of Robot City, there exists a social class referred to as Outmodes. Outmodes are robots whose parts are no longer being manufactured and, due to their economic status, cannot afford to purchase the newer, upgraded ones on the market. The fate of all outmodes is to be sweeped up, smelted down, and repurposed, when their old, broken bodies eventually fall apart. The Rusties are a ragtag group of outmodes living out of a boarding house. With the assistance of Rodney’s inventive prowess, they begin repairing other outmodes themselves. The film culminates in them fighting/defeating the evil robots responsible for the despicable treatment of outmodes.

Protectors of Spiral City:
A group of superheroes that once defended the sprawling metropolis of Spiral City. By killing the Anti-God, a malevolent cosmic being that threatened to destroy all of existence, they unwittingly upset the cosmic balance between good and evil. In order to prevent the universe from correcting itself and resurrecting the Anti-God, Spiral City’s heroes were forced to permanently exile themselves to another dimension. They now reside on a farm within the town of Rockwood, a timeless pocket dimension of sorts, where they attempt to pass themselves off as a (rather dysfunctional) family.

The meme text reads:
You [(Transformers) fanfic] writer:
Are you normal about trans/expansive people & how our stories are unique?
End ID.
(Please note regarding the image dialogue that Bumblebee and Starscream are not trans canonically yet because of how IDW1 works but nonetheless their stories are uh, not at all standard to the human cisgender experience lmao)
