A Child's Garden of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson

The continuation of our little spring series, with another item by the same author, Robert Louis Stevenson. This is one of his most popular works, A Child's Garden of Verses, which has been published in numerous editions over the years. This version is part of a set, formally called the "Little Leather Library," which was changed by the publisher Robert Haas, who felt the term "leather" was misleading due to them not being bound in leather.

Se presenta en ellos a los personajes del Príncipe Florizel de Bohemia y su amigo el Coronel Geraldine. Ambos se infiltran en una sociedad secreta cuyos miembros quieren irse de este mundo. La historia constituye uno de los dos ciclos del primer volumen de la colección de cuentos Las nuevas mil y una noches (New Arabian Nights). El Príncipe Florizel es personaje que tiene el mismo nombre que otro de la obra Cuento de invierno, de William Shakespeare. Se han llevado a cabo numerosas adaptaciones de la historia; entre ellas y tal vez la primera en el mundo del cine, el cortometraje de 4' del director David Wark Griffith, en 1909. El nombre y las historias de este ciclo de cuentos dieron pie a la fundación en San Francisco de una sociedad del mismo nombre cuyos miembros, lejos de pretender suicidarse, se dedicaban a las bromas festivas. Another movie I watched as I was working through the list on Letterboxd for horror movies of 1932. This is an interesting combination of Edgar Allan Poe's short stories with one from Robert Louis Stevenson. On top of that, it explores a heavy topic of suicide. Foreign Lands by Robert Louis Stevenson, printed by Anna K. Ganske

In this poem by Robert Louis Stevenson, a child climbs up a cherry tree in their garden to see "foreign lands", such as the neighbors garden, and a nearby river. In a little miniseries for spring, we will be doing much the same, and exploring four neighboring books by two poets from the UK.

Our first poet is Robert Louis Stevenson, who is best known for adventure stories like Treasure Island, and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, as well as his poetry for children.

Today's item is quite spring like in color, with floral cloth covered boards protecting an accordion fold book, tied with a blue ribbon.
