A CHRISTMAS CAROL by Charles Dickens
As Told by Mark Redfield. Music by Jennifer Rouse.
Everywhere AudioBooks are sold!
FUN FACT IN 2023:
In “A Christmas Carol”, Scrooge pays Bob Cratchit 15 shillings per week, and is visited by 4 ghosts because his greed is so immoral.
That story is from the 1840s.
Adjusted for inflation, that’s $18.70 an hour today.
Every state’s minimum wage is less than what Scrooge paid Cratchit.
Happy holidays!

DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE (2002)
Designed & Directed by Mark Redfield
Written by Mark Redfield & Stuart Voytilla
Adapted from the novella by Robert Louis Stevenson
Starring Mark REDFIELD Elena TORREZ Carl RANDOLPH Kosha ENGLER
Original Music Score by Nalin Taneja
Director of Photography Karl DeVos
Edited by Sean Paul Murphy
Special Make-Up Created by Robert Yoho
“With DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE, a new stab at Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic saga of good versus evil, writer/producer/director/actor Mark Redfield has crafted one of the most unique B-horror movies in recent memory, a full-on sophisticated costume drama with a true sense of abject terror.
As an adaptation that is both intensely faithful to and decidedly dissident from the source material, JEKYLL AND HYDE manages to tell the tale and capture its atmosphere but also mixes things up and takes it to a whole other level with an original twist, and improves upon it, if that’s at all possible.
Starring Redfield himself in a tour-de-force performance that shines with intelligence and class, DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE also features an excellent ensemble cast, airtight direction, baroque studio sets and majestic lighting, fashioning an early 20th century England full of magic, trepidation, violence and horror for its charming and scummy characters to wallow through…for those with a love for classic suspense literature and a flair for the theatrical, this rare treat comes recommended.”

My friend, Stuart Gordon.
Stuart Gordon
(August 11, 1947 – March 24, 2020)
First and Last, A Man of the Theatre
His theatre and film work was IS entertaining, electrifying, shocking, and very often funny as hell.
From his theatre work founding The Organic Theatre Company in Chicago in 1969 (“Sexual Perversity in Chicago”, “Bleacher Bums”) to his eclectic film work (“ReAnimator”, “Edmund”, “Honey I Shrunk the Kids”, “Masters of Horror The Black Cat”), and with his frequent collaborators (Carolyn Purdy-Gordon, Dennis Paoli, Jeffrey Combs, David Mamet, Barbara Crampton, and other firebrands), to his last theatre-works (“Nevermore-An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe”, and “ReAnimator The Musical”) Stuart’s work always explored the less-illuminated aspects of what it is to be human. Because his heart was enormous, and he was so very human.
Here is a chat that Stuart and I had when we produced “Nevermore” in Baltimore in 2010 :
For the years I knew and worked with him, he was a kind and generous friend. I think the last time I saw him, was in New York. Or was it in LA? I miss his soft, direct voice in our phone calls. Stuart. Bursting with passion for the work. Supportive; gently demanding.
I miss him, as do so many who worked with him, and all who were entertained by his marvelous films and thrilling theatre.

My share on #WorldPoetryDay is Leonard Cohen’s TOWER OF SONG
For what is song, so often, but poetry? And what is poetry so often, but song?
“Now I bid you farewell, I don't know when I'll be back
They're moving us tomorrow to that tower down the track
But you'll be hearing from me baby, long after I'm gone
I'll be speaking to you sweetly from a window in the Tower of Song…”
