RNM Heat Weekend (@rnmheat) came and went… I feel bad because I had three fics I was working on in the hope of being able to share something because I do very much love the idea of exploring omegaverse tropes in particular… I had three a/b/o fics in the works but nothing that’s ready to be shared.
Fic 1 was started last year and was intended to be shared as part of Heat Weekend 2021 but the fic got away from me & is currently sitting at 35k words with no ending in sight just yet.
Fic 2 is an absolute guilty pleasure of mine which I actually started as a birthday present to myself but didn’t finish in time to post on my actual birthday (cough *april*). It currently has a small count of 6k words but is potentially the closest to being completed.
Fic 3 was something I started in a mass panic once I realized fic 1 & fic 2 wouldn’t be ready to post for the event… I did my usual cheat of taking a fic I wrote for a different fandom, changing the characters names and ‘refurbishing’ it as an RNM fic. However, the OG fic was a mere 3.5k words and the RNM version has grown to 8k and could potentially reach 15k depending on how/where the characters take me.
It makes me very sad to not have something to share. I hope to one day soon inflict some very unnecessary and unwanted ship fic upon y’all!

First, we would just like to congratulate and thank everyone who participated this year in the RNM Big Bang!
Deciding to continue this event, after the previous organizers made the choice to step back, was one of the best decisions we made this past year. To see this fandom still so alive and collaborative - from the way authors sought to share snippets of their WIP to the constant writing sprints to keep everyone motivated thru the hurdles to the amazing group of betas who made miracles happen - camaraderie was the cornerstone of this year's event.

How To Keep Playing Comment Bingo in 3 Easy Steps

Fill out your card: use your bingo card to track what RNM works you’ve read and commented on, including author and title. As you go, keep a list of the links to share as a rec post on Tumblr.
Post or submit on Tumblr: Use the tag #rnmbingo and mention @rnmbingo on your own Tumblr, or Submit a bingo card to us directly. Instant and cute Fic Rec board!

marvel (mostly sambucky but i've played around with other pairings), the magicians (penntin, queliot, wickoff), ofmd, and one black sails fic (despite that being my main fandom i guess lmao, it's so hard to write for because i can't make it better. i just have to make it worse. and boy do i have plans to make it Worse.)
(also i do have an rnm fic, almost forgot about that! i would love to write more i just need the inspiration and motivation to hit at the same time lmao)

he kisses me softly to wake me up (by a wild amount, which i think was just luck of timing with that fandom blowing up overnight)
flowers for the gentleman (first published sambucky fic. looking back on it it's like... cute but could be better. natasha is in it though)

what you wanted (first of my tfatws series that accompanied the show. literally wrote each fic as the episodes came out, it was so fun and idk how tf i kept up with it)

i love responding to comments hehehe! bc i love getting responses when i comment on other author's fics idk it just feels so fun! and when you notice the same people commenting on your fics idk it's just. holding hands with all of you love you sm <3

omg uhhhh jinx i think mine also be a samsteve one lol. stuck in the bed where we lie bc i love writing angst but i usually resolve it? but they're my favorite tragedy forever.

hmmm i guess after it all calms down? resolution of my tfatws series

crossover is when there are characters from two separate medias in one fic right? not like taking characters from one universe and putting them in the other? if it's the first then... no not anymore. no further questions.

not that i know of (i'm not like... overly concerned by the idea)

someone once translated a teen wolf fic i wrote into russain

no, but i am open to the idea of collaborating like that (i've done events where i drew art to accompany a fic which was really fun and i miss that event a lot)

i am so so bad at picking favorites, but if you want to go by what i have the most fics and wips for it would be sambucky
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
i want to finish shores begging for big moons so badly im so sorry to everyone because. it was so so fun to write! and i had this big grand plan and knew how it would all work out and then.... i hit a wall and now it's been years and i cry for her every day. i could save her! i could do it! but i also need to reread it bc i can't remember the details anymore lmao. it's a daunting task.
16. What are your writing strengths?
i think like... rhythm if that makes sense? like i get into a groove of this is what is happening, here are the beats, this is the action and this is the dialogue and it flows so nicely and has a good rhythm to it.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
focusing. i get distracted soooo easily, what is that all about haha. ha.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
i love seeing it in fic! i'm always scared to include it bc i don't want to mess anything up, so i usually have it from another character's POV and that they don't know what's being said. which is a cop out, i know. i should probably be better about looking into translations!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
harry potter (i know. there is no need to talk about it)
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
how do i choose! tbh it's a tie between i bit the fruit and holy water. don't read into that.

Thank you very much for another successful big bang!
I know I’ve said this before, but it truly has been humbling and astonishing to see our small fandom rally together year after year, coming together to create, and share stories for the RNM Big Bang.
The hope was to build a community of creators, to start collaborative partnerships, and hopefully make some friends along the way. I hope that has been true for all the creators. Everyone who participated over the last three years has my respect, my love, and all my gratitude for sharing in this adventure.
But like the incredible show that brought us all together, the journey of the RNM Big Bang has also come to an end. It’s been an honor and a pleasure getting to know all of you, and I’m confident that there will be another similar event that creators can join in the future.
You can find all of our stories and art on our AO3 Collection. This blog will stay open so people can find the wonderful works created over the years.
Thank you for letting this small yearly event be a part of the incredible RNM fandom, and for supporting all the creators in it.

I gave 19 gift fics, mostly in Maeglin's Hobbit Birthday Gift Fics 2023 and a Secret Santa gift for @angrycowboy
Collaborations:
@haloud and I still wrote a ton this year, in a few new fandoms even, but have been slow to actually post things! Still we updated From Roswell with Love; wrote a silly little porno for Malexa Sorry that I got caught; and wrote chemical composition for Liz Week. For RNM After Dark we gave some true rarepairs some love with Get your soldiers, tell 'em that the break is over, Something Borrowed, and of course contributed some Malexa In the Bleak Midwinter. And Malexa finally won the Roswell Halloween costume contest for RIP Roswell in Not A King. Okay, maybe we didn’t slow down, after all!
@lizzy-leo and I ping-ponged back and forth between Blackbonnet (Bell the Cat, Whale of a Tale, Fly By Night, Sinking in your Eyes, Chasing Golden Nights,) and Vianton (The Now Show Me Your Fangs series, now 9 works strong!), with plenty of smut for both. Lizzy even submitted (a SFW section) of some of our fic for Vico Ortiz to read through their Patreon, which was a hoot to listen to.

Pairing you wrote the most for this year? Ed/Stede (15) ousted Malexa this year (10) but apparently variety is the winner, as that’s less than half of my total fics. Multishipping for the win!
Favorite fics not already mentioned? I picked three:
I would do anything for love (but I won't do that) (Legolas/Gimli ficlet that was funny),
It must be exhausting always rooting for the anti-hero (my mean Izzy-anti fic, which was also funny, and cathartic, before he died in canon and achieved that catharsis better lmao), and
