Louis Patriarch is...Riprap! ☕⚡

Both of them are hot-headed, irritable, and grumpy people who hide their emotions under toughness, and eventually learn to open up through understanding their partner in ways unexpected. Sadly, in the main story Riprap does *not* go through getting eaten just so he can learn to be a nicer person, but he does eventually figure it out anyways. I don't think either of them would like each other much due to the fact that they are pretty much mirrors in personality, motivations, and even the Experimented On By A Villain backstory (absolutely not intentional-- I just so happened to like the trope of character back when I made Riprap in Middle School, and Louis being so similar was just a happy accident!), but I think it would especially annoy Louis that Riprap is almost four or five years younger than him and still carries quite a bit of immaturity. Both of them will figure it out eventually, but considering where they are at in the beginning of their stories it would probably be a bad idea to stick them together until both of them learn to cool off a bit.

I think if they interacted, it would go fantastic at first, but the more Reese ends up showing him new tricks and turning up the showmanship. Well. He's quickly going to learn Eddie is far more excitable about Other Types of crime and does not put Nearly as much thought as he does into making sure people are safe.

What you see is not what you get. Here's a home in Juneau, Alaska, a standard looking house priced at $399,900. But, walk around to the other side.

And, WTH? I was NOT expecting this.

Apparently, the Mendenhall River right next to it overflowed, but according to the description, it's been professionally riprapped now, (is that like to stop it from overflowing?), b/c it means a range of rocky material placed along the shorelines.

Anyway, this looks like a big hole that would have to be filled, and the house is condemned, although the part that's still standing is in good condition. So, what does the buyer get for $400K?

The buyer gets a kitchen w/outdated cabinets.

A large open-concept dining area.

A rec room that has weird nooks w/big lanterns on each end that opens to a terrace.

1 bedroom is left and it's VERY open concept since the wall is missing.

And, one remaining standard 3 pc. bathroom. Nothing special about the house.

Also, the buyer is responsible for removing all the debris. I think this calls for a price reduction and I still wouldn't trust that river.

Seawalls are causing intertidal habitats to vanish as ocean levels increase. But eco-entrepreneurs say artificial rockpools and crevices can save wildlife

“Species that inhabit the intertidal zone have evolved to live in that environment,” said Pip Moore, a professor of marine science at Newcastle University. These animals find the world’s rising temperatures very stressful, she says. “Lots of organisms use the natural heterogeneity in the rocky shore to hide away from those stresses – [but] a seawall or even a “riprap” boulder don’t have that complexity of habitat.”

Exactly how badly coastal wildlife is affected by coastal squeeze is not entirely clear, but scientists have found that structures such as Artecology’s Vertipools (above) show a “significantly greater” species richness when compared with a normal seawall after five years. One Bournemouth University team found species of crab, fish and periwinkle living in them that had been absent before.
