We would be in a loop or stuck

If time travel to the past existed, time would forever be going nowhere.

If travelling to the future existed, you wouldn't have control of your past.

Let's say you know someone who has finally created a time machine, but little did you know, the day the time machine is used is the day time will never go forward.

I. The Past

Once you actually go back in time, you won't ever remember going back, even if you were the one to hit the button.

And you would definitely not have the time machine with you.

This is because by going back, you are going back to the point where you don't even know a time machine exists.

II. The Present

After successfully going back in time, and you make it to the point where your friend creates the time machine again. You'll find that the process will repeat itself as you are unable to warn against rewinding because you never knew you went back in the first place.

III. The Future

If you went into the future, you would know you went forward through a time machine, but it also means that whatever happened in between would not be made.

If you decided to jump ahead, the course of your life in between could be messed up since you weren't there to complete it.

And if you're not there, then how will your future progress?

You would be stuck in a pause where there is no future, maybe somewhere in between?

Then what would become of your present?

Have you heard the ghost story about a young girl hitchhiking on a lonely road, and when she's picked up, the driver loans her a coat or a jacket? And then she disappears, and he finds the jacket on her headstone or somewhere weird? That's the story that Rose is based on.

This was the book I discovered in the May 2014 Romantic Times Rewind that I most wanted to read, and it was excellent.
