PSA for Small Businesses!
If you are a small business owner (like working on selling things from home on Etsy or in a small mom/pop store) you probably have a budget - a Reaallllyyyy tight budget, and that tight budget is being stretched too thin by spending on all the extra little upcharges from your printing supplier (things like rounded corners or a retail hole punch)
so listen up because Cryptids Don't Gatekeep - especially tips and tricks that can help out our other small business colleagues!
Tumblr media
so go from this: a standard card you can get from a printing company (Vistaprint is common, though this is from Uprint) and go to this instead;
Tumblr media
Beautiful rounded corners and a professional retail peg hole punch - perfect for actually being in retail stores or on a nice display at your local market or convention!
Don't wanna pay the absurd upcharge fees every time? Good, you don't have to! Buy the freaking punches/cutters online and do it yourself! It's a (much cheaper) one time purchase and then you can do it whenever! I got mine from Amazon as that was the best option available to me, but you can check out other specialty/stationary stores too!
Tumblr media
Here's the little contraption that rounds out those pesky sharp corners (it has 3 different size options too!)
Tumblr media
and here's a close up of that nice perfect rounded edge! Took a fraction of a second!
Tumblr media
Here's the cool specialty retail hole punch thing-a-ma-jig
Tumblr media
and for bonus tips here's the little adhesive tape thingy I use to stick my products onto the hanging cards (I kinda like this one, but I might try other ones in the future to see if any are better - sometimes the glue stuff has trouble rolling out and I have to re-do a section to get it to work)
Tumblr media
And voila! You did it! You're ready to have the best display at your convention or hit the big leagues and provide professional merch at physical stores.
Go forth! Make things! Save money! Make money! Drool over rounded corners!
love,
-Cryptid

Trying to open my own LGS
Quick clarification, what kind of LGS I'm talking about trading cards (Magic: the Gathering, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh), table top RPGs (Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu), board games (not your father's board games, stuff that gets a start on Kickstarter), and Miniatures (stuff like Warhammer 40,000)
So ever since I picked up card games in my teens and set foot in a Game Store. I knew that I wanted to do something like it. But for me it's not about making money (though being my own boss and such is a plus) what I want to do is create a space for people of all ages to gather and bond and have a great time. Because I never had that growing up. I had two or three friends that we sometimes had a sleepover and stayed up playing video games. Never did I go out and make friends, it was hard for me.
I wanna change the fact that there isn't a place for people like me and kids growing up like I did. I want a place for a community of people to be able to buy what they want exactly, and then play with their friends or make new ones. I know me personally I hate giving my money to places like Walmart for these kinds of products cause it almost feels a little hollow. Cause I'm just getting product with no interaction with a store owner or other customers saying "Oh hey you like that game too!"
I am at square zero, I've just been digging around online like a dog trying to find that bone he buried last spring. I'm taking notes on what I can and trying to figure out what I need to do and the steps to get there. I have read many posts all over the place, but I figured it was time to go in and ask myself to get the specific answers I've been looking for.

Building A Brand
This is just a short note from my perspective on building a brand. I think that to build a brand a person has to take the time to figure out what it is that they want to sell or market to the public. Then use some marketing know how to make their brand stand out from their competitors because their competitors may have a product or service that is better than theirs. So, that will have to be…

Know the 8 types of retail store layouts and how to make them
Hello retail business people, of course creating a retail store layout has an impact on your business because of the strategic use of space to influence the customer experience. Research shows that most people naturally look left first, then right when they enter a store. In addition, buyers usually also prefer to move to the right and walk counterclockwise around the room. This customer pattern is usually known as customer flow.
Therefore, store layout is an important thing that has an impact on retail store sales and must be designed carefully to attract visitors. Customer flow is also important because you can find out which areas of the shop are frequently visited or not visited at all by customers, the number of customers, and overall customer behavior. Understanding customer flow will help you create a good visual merchandising plan or planogram.
If you know an effective store layout, customers will flow according to their wishes and your sales will increase. Store layout is the foundation that will enhance the experience at your retail store. There are many types of store layouts for retailers to consider. The following are the types of retail store layouts: 1.Grids
Herringbone
Loop/race track
Free-flow
Straight/spine
Diagonals
Angular
Geometric
In determining the right layout, there are several steps that must be taken, starting from determining the type of layout, creating a blueprint, understanding customer flow, to adding facilities for customers.
Find out more about the types of retail store layouts, design tips, 6 steps to designing a layout in the article about retail stores.

Pricing Your Handmade Goods
How do I price my handmade goods? I get asked this question A LOT and it’s hard to answer. No one formula or thought process works for all businesses but most people can’t afford to talk with a professional to hash out their pricing. Many people wing it and end up with prices too low to maintain a business on, focusing on a price point that at least will get bargain shoppers to buy. Others price…

mmmfgh perverted stalker,,,
stalker gets caught rummaging through your stuff and is very apologetic!!
yandere!sub!stalker x dom!male!reader, nsfw, harrassing stalker, good boy mentions
Tumblr media
you had to have known,,, you weren't that daft, right? he wanted it to be a surprise, originally - him showing up, but he just can't help himself,,, leaving little gifts behind in your home to send messages that he existed... you had to have known, right?!!
ă…ˇand you did - of course you did! you liked the thought of someone watching you - the thought of someone being that much of a depraved freak to watch you jerk off in your humble abode all splayed out... you, who purposefully leaves the blinds open,,, to the window that gives a full view of your spread legs and erect cock being lathered in your spit coated hand to whoever is peering in,,,,...
he wanted to get caught !! that's exactly why he shows up on such a busy day... and he's so happy,,, so happy that he gets what he wants. so happy that he so carefully tracked your schedule,,,, you, walking in on him inhaling your dirty clothesă…ˇmanhandling him in defense ă…ˇ ignoring his whines and nearly sobbing excuses of how much he loves youă…ˇexcuses that were utter bullshit. your darling little stalker 'mastering' the art of manipulation... it's not gonna work on you...,,,,
you heave, inhaling sharply with your groin pressed against his squishy,, round ass,,, keeping him trapped against your wall with his arms held behind his back - such a lewd position, so easy to take advantage of him,,, you knew him. he's your little friend who frequents your retail job - a familiar face you always recognized amongst the sea of crowds,,,, always bothering you and making passes at you,,, what a gross little freak.
"you gonna be a good boy, stranger?" smug. handling your very much dangerous stalker with very little cautiousness as you push his face into the wall,,,, "are you gonna be a good boy for me?" you cooed sweetly, blowing gently into the shell of his ear n relishing in the way he trembles and whorishly presses his ass back into your cock with such animalistic moans,,,
"f-fuck, yes - i'm gonna be s-such a good boy just - fucking put it in-!" begging for you to fill him up - make him feel full with your cum, make him gag on the tip of your cock with how fucking deep you reach in his taut, painfully stretched hole,,, anal plug teased out,,, stretched and ready for use,,,
ă…ˇthat's how he likes to treat himself... a poor man who so desperately wants to be branded your 'cumdump'. watching the camera feed of you in your home while bouncing on a silicone cock and stroking his overtly sensitive prick at a desperate pace. always... stalking you with a hand in his pants,,, and anal plug buried deep inside him-! and now to finally ă…ˇ to finally touch you, to have you touch him-!! shită…ˇplease don't mention the sporadic wet spot of cum...
hand keeping his wrists together,,, your free hand grabbing a fistful of his hair - tugging his head back with little care whilst keeping your erection buried in his ass... the sight of his saliva glossy lips parted and eyes nearly rolling back fueling your depravity as he needily shoves himself into you, rubbing his ass onto your cock,,,
"that's not how good boys talk..." you scold quietly, and he shivers. you were so... softspoken,,, a complete contrast to how you're reprimanding him and grinding your erection into himă…ˇmaking absolute sure that he feels how hard you are,,, how needy you are to use your stalkers' holes,,,, even more needy as he is?,,, mumbling about breeding him... dumbing him down with your cock to keep him hostage as your little houswife to pump full of your cum into his ear,, not that he'd mind in the slightest,,,??,

Do people know most paper receipts are harmful to their health?
I'm going to get up on my soapbox for a minute, but do people realize how pretty much everyone is being overloaded with endocrine disruptors like BPA/BPS on a near-daily basis??
I don't think many people understand that ever since most of the world transitioned to thermal paper receipts (cheaper than ink), almost every receipt you handle from the gas station to the grocery store to the Square terminal printer at the local co-op is coated with Bisphenol-A (BPA) or its chemical cousin Bisphenol-S (BPS).
These chemicals have not only been proven to cause reproductive harm to human and animals, they've also been linked to obesity and attention disorders.
Not sure if your receipt is a thermal receipt? If you scratch it with a coin and it turns dark, it's thermal.
BPA/BPS can enter the skin to a depth such that it is no longer removable by washing hands. When taking hold of a receipt consisting of thermal printing paper for five seconds, roughly 1 μg BPA is transferred to the forefinger and the middle finger. If the skin is dry or greasy, it is about ten times more.
Think of how many receipts you handle every day. It's even worse for cashiers and tellers, who may handle hundreds in a single shift. It is also a class issue, since many people who work retail and food service are lower-income and will suffer worse health consequences over time from the near-constant exposure.
Not only that, receipts printed with thermal ink are NOT recyclable, as they pollute the rest of the paper products with the chemicals.
People don't know this and recycle them anyway, so when you buy that "green" toilet paper that says "100% recycled"? Yup, you are probably wiping your most sensitive areas with those same chemicals (for this reason, I buy bamboo or sugarcane toilet paper as a sustainable alternative to recycled paper).
This page from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has some good links if you want to learn more.
As consumers, we need to demand better from our businesses and from our governments. We need regulation of these chemicals yesterday.
If you are a buyer or decision-maker for a business, the link above also contains a shortlist of receipt paper manufacturers that are phenol-free.
If you work at a register, ask customers if they want a receipt. If they don't and you can end the transaction without printing one, don't print one!
As a consumer, fold receipts with the ink on the inside, since that's where the coating is. Some more good tips here.
And whatever you do, DO NOT RECYCLE THERMAL RECEIPTS

Hey! Hey, would you like to be a park ranger?
Tumblr media
USA Jobs just posted a bunch of national park ranger positions for summer 2024--everything from small historic sites to the big flagship parks like Yellowstone and Yosemite. These are seasonal positions specifically for interpretive rangers, which means you begin around May-ish and end around September-October-ish. Interpretation is the branch of the NPS that does educational programming and frontline visitor services, like working in the visitor centers, leading guided walks and talks, and just generally interacting with the public in a friendly, helpful way.
If you have a four-year college degree in just about any subject (honestly, I've worked with people with degrees ranging from theater to business to geoscience), or 12 months' relevant work experience (customer service, retail, education, camp counseling, etc), or a combination of the two, you're eligible to apply. All you need is a resume and transcripts if you're using education to qualify.
Just go to USAJobs.gov and search for "park ranger interpretation" in the search bar. The key things you're looking for in the results are listings from the National Park Service, the code GS 5 (which is the entry level for this position), and the phrase Not to Exceed 1039 hours (which indicates it's a seasonal position).
Some tips!
>Each application requires you to answer a questionnaire about your experience with things like customer service, preparing educational programs, researching scientific topics, etc. Be generous with yourself on these, because other folks will be. Even if you don't think you're an "expert" in something, consider your past work creatively. Have you presented research projects in class? Have you worked retail? Can you keep up a professional demeanor when somebody's upset? You have the qualifications. Rate yourself as such.
>Be thorough and specific in your resume. The NPS isn't a one-pager resume organization. They need to see evidence that you have the qualifications you say you do. The best way to ensure this is to copy, word for word, the phrases in the above questionnaire and insert them in the relevant places in your resume. So if the questionnaire says "Can you research, prepare, and present scientific information to a lay public," go to the appropriate place in your resume and write "I researched, prepared, and presented scientific information to my peers" or something similar. I kid you not, my current resume is ten pages long.
>Cover letters are optional but helpful! There are lots of templates online to help you write one; be sure to be professional. Mine is around 250 words and has three short paragraphs:
1- Position I'm applying for
2- Quick summary of most relevant work/education experience
3- Additional skills/rizz that makes me stand out (for me it's writing/illustrating, which helps me create visitor programs)
>Two things the NPS loves that will boost you are foreign language skills and being a US military veteran. Highlight these elements if you have them.
>Are you a schoolteacher? Check out the Teacher-Ranger-Teacher program.
>The big flashy parks are posted as standalone listings, but most of the others are bundled into "Multiple Locations" that are based on region. Consider applying for many of these smaller monuments and historic sites---they get far fewer applicants and are easier to secure. And many are absolutely beautiful. Want to work at Arches? Also apply to Natural Bridges. Want to work in Yellowstone? Also try Lassen Volcanic. Prefer history over science? You have dozens of amazing options from every facet of American history.
>Apply today! Apply now! Many of these parks cap their applicants because they get so many, and the rest will close after a week or so. A glance at the ones that were posted today and yesterday show them either closing on October 15 or 22. Some regions haven't posted yet, so keep checking the website in the next few weeks.
I love my work as a park ranger---it's such a rewarding way to spend a summer (or two, or ten), and it can open doors to other things. You won't get rich, but you will make great friends and great memories, add a killer section to your resume, and spend four months immersed with smart, passionate people in some of the coolest places in the US.
Plus you get a SICK HAT
