Class 78 rpg classes:

Sayaka: Bard/Songstress (Yakuza 7 has an Idol class but it's not too different). Raises the team effectiveness through performing. Is proficient at exciting and invigorating the team morale and energy. Can weaken enemies via idol charm and predicting their behaviors.

Leon: Bow and Blade Ranger (or Projectile and Bat in this case). Can handle both close range and long range combat because of bat and throwing ability. Is a flexible and balanced team member for most situations. Favors long range combat and favors baseballs over other projectiles.

Chihiro: Techno Wizard (not an official actual rpg class but I'm using it). Can hack into all kinds of technology and databases. Programs computers or electronic devices to do various task and support. Is highly proficient at intel gathering.

Mondo: Cavalier. Has higher movement speed and access to charging through enemies while on bike. Is the best at taking out gangs of enemies. Comes to the rescue the fastest for his friends.

Taka: Warlord/General. Maintains strict order and formation to increase team effectiveness. Can handle frontlines combat due to sword training with Peko. Tends to work at forming groups.

Hifumi: Freelancer (This was by far the hardest and crappiest to find. His talent did not help except for the fact that as a fanfic writer, he's technically IS a freelancer, I think. And yes, if you played the Bravely series, you'd recognize this class and might be confused that Hifumi got an overpowered class. I just want to say he's Freelancer without the overpowered skills and passives. Sorry Hifumi, but basically you have the "helpful slave" class (which you kinda were for Celes so it fits)). Supports team members by assisting in their goals/speeding up their job masteries and creating costumes for them. Forages and brings items to friends. Can deal body slam damage based on weight (sorry bro).

Celestia: Gambler. Collects massive amounts of money from enemies by initiating gambles and winning. Has a built in Debt mechanic system where if she dries up all of her opponent's money, they will be afflicted with Fear and have lowered stats. Can gamble her own life and the opponent's to afflict Death on either. (Wow this was more overpowered than I thought it would be.)

Sakura: Monk/Martial Artist. Is resistant to and counters all physical attacks. Has really high stats in all categories, especially health, and can self-heal through meditation. Afflicts Fear with her presence in battle.

Mukuro: Skirmisher/Soldier. Handles both close and long range combat due to martial capabilities and various equipments. Is capable of utilizing any armaments or equipment, even those improvised and stolen, to great effect. Has expert sense of survival instincts and tactics, guerilla warfare, wit, hunting, and cooperative strikes.

Junko: Demon Lord/Final Boss (I don't even need to research this). Is guaranteed to destroy almost everyone at least once with her Despair status effect before dying. Has multiple forms/keeps coming back stronger than ever just to make life more of a pain in the ass than before. Influences multiple demon generals/lesser evil antagonists to her bidding and continue her work during her life and/or after her death.

Aoi: Half Warrior and half Pirate (Goddamnit Danganronpa! How come Aoi never swims and was only in one fight ever?!). Focuses on physical strength, athletic prowess, and straightforward combat rather than complex thinking. Is often the reliable muscle for moving heavy objects alongside Sakura and Mondo. Has unmatched mobility advantage near water, underwater, or on a ship.

Hagakure: Fortuneteller (I'm basing this a bit off Yakuaza 7). Afflicts Confuse, Fear, Paralyze, Enrage, Silence, and other various status ailments through over the top fortune telling. Can vaguely foresee long term events of the future and forecast. Is miraculously proficient at conning people for massive amounts of money at times.

Toko: Librarian (I had a much easier time to find this compared to Hifumi, but this was still quite a pain to justify cuz Toko's character is highly overshadowed by her lust for Togami and now Komaru and her connection to Syo. In other words, she's definitely Librarian by default but she almost never shows it and benefits no one in any way. She kinda does nothing. Sorry Toko, I don't hate you or anyone here but I'm kinda have to say some meaningless and irrelevant things for you). Follows Komaru around in battle and morally supports her sometimes. Has immense knowledge of books and literature. Swaps personalities with Syo for combat.

Syo: Beast (a non-animalistic version that also prefers weapons). Has high speed, damage, and is practically invincible to damage. Can be surprisingly covert and rational given she's never been caught. Is absolutely deadly at all ranges due to absurd cutting power of her scissors.

Byakuya: Merchant and Scholar (Sorry Toko, he took the abilities of your class that you should have but don't demonstrate). Summons troops for combat through connections and money. Generates the massive amounts of money, even more so than Celes, passively by doing stocks. Is highly analytical and figures out logical weaknesses to enemies through extensive research of books.

Kyoko: Inquisitive (so proud that I found this ultra rare rpg class). Excels at finding secrets, exposing hidden intents, and revealing covert and stealthy enemies due to super keen analysis and eye for details. Deduces enemy stats and weaknesses almost immediately. Guarantees allies to deal critical and extra damage to enemy weak spots.

Makoto: Bravebearer (Another Bravely series job class but again very less overpowered version.) Grants allies overwhelming amounts of bravery, courage, and Hope every turn. Deals critical damage frequently against all odds. Fits in about all situations due to being extremely supportive and beneficial to everyone.

Komaru: Gun Mage. Focuses on long range combat and relies on Toko/Syo for close range. Is the best against machine enemies. Can perform various tasks against machines, including afflicting Brainwash with Link bullets, dealing fire and electric damage with Burn and Paralyze bullets, and etc.

Admittedly a lot of these people were supposedly perfect for certain classes but are absolutely awful at demonstrating so these were pains in the ass. I also want to point out there's a Chef class in Yakuza 7 for Teruteru but it's not too different. Also I'd like to change Nekomaru's class to Knight/Guardian; it fits a bit better now that I've done more research. And I find this funny. When I think about it, Class 77 are more Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem while Class 78 are more Bravely Default and Yakuza 7.

This is getting really in depth. I’m genuinely impressed with what you’ve dished out so far.

Yeah. Though given my experience in combat prior to this, I imagine I’m a fairly simple character to design.

For @sunset-and-periwinkle so this will be under a read more because holy crap this is long, guess that’s what happens when you have two game events to work with 😅

Born July 20th, 1992

Mother dies in a car crash when she’s 2 - August 1994.

Beginning of a rocky relationship with her dad Elias and eldest brother Hesh - Summer of 2005.

2005 and onward her relationship with her father and brother got worse, forcing her to become quite reckless and getting herself into trouble a lot.

Enlists in the US Army - August 2009

Becomes a US Army Ranger at age 20 - 2012.

Joins Task Force STALKER (Ghosts) with her brothers’ - June 2014.

The Ghosts are transferred over to Fire Base Phoenix in Afghanistan - Dec 2014.

Liz meets and befriends Corporal Dunn - January 2014

Her and Dunn get together - Early Spring 2015.

She gets transferred over to Task Force 141 - March 2016.

Beats Ghost’s score on the CQB - March 2016.

Capture Rojas for interrogation and fleeing the Favela with the help from Nikolai - August 13th, 2016.

Rescued the hostages aboard the oil rig - August 14th, 2016.

Rescue prisoner 6-2-7 (Price) from the Gulag. Liz stays up to cover Ghost while he hacks into the system - August 14th, 2016.

Price takes back command of the 141 and they’re ordered to secure a docked submarine at the Rybachiy navel base. Price has another plan in mind and tells Liz about the missile being detonated at a high altitude to EMP the east coast - August 14th, 2016.

Ghost asks to take Liz and Roach to Makarov’s safe-house in the Caucasus Mountains. There they grab a bunch of needed intel on Makarov. Upon reaching the extraction point Liz is injured by Mortar fire and is helped by Ghost and Roach to evac. Only they were betrayed by General Shepherd and his men, shot and ignited in flames. Lucky enough for them, Shepherd didn’t stay to see if the job was done. All 3 having 3rd degree burns on parts of their bodies. - August 15th, 2016

Rescued by Nikolai - August 17th, 2016.

Liz and Ghost confess their love and embark on a romantic relationship - August 19th, 2016

Liz, Ghost, Roach and Soap’s recoveries - August 17th - October 5th, 2016.

Back on the grid. Liz, Ghost, Roach, Price, Soap and Yuri go to Sierra Leone in search of cargo belonging to Makarov - October 5th, 2016.

Operation: Return To Sender. Search for a man named Waraabe, who was involved with distributing the chemicals in Europe - Oct 8th, 2016.

The disavowed TF141 helps the resistance in Prague until they get to the tower - October 10th, 2016.

Liz, Price and Ghost rappel down the building and enters where Makarov is supposed to be while Soap, Roach and Yuri take up overwatch at a nearby destroyed church clock tower in an attempt to kill him. Makarov knew of their plan and placed C4 in both buildings and detonated them after contacting Price. Everyone besides Soap and Roach were fine - Oct 11th, 2016.

The rest of the 141 finds out about Yuri’s former relationship with Makarov, turning things quite rocky between him and the 141 - Oct 11th, 2016.

After getting Soap and Roach to one of Nikolai’s safe-houses for recovery, Price, Liz, Ghost and Yuri assault a castle outside of Prague that’s been used by the Russians as a firebase. Goal is to find Makarov’s location - Oct 12th, 2016.

TF141 teams up with Delta Force to save the Russian president and his daughter from a diamond mine. Sandman, Grinch and Truck are presumed KIA after the mission - Oct 14th, 2016.

Task Force 141 after a long time finally get the job done and kill Makarov at the Hotel Oasis in Dubai -January 21st, 2017.

Ghost proposes to Liz in London - February 14th, 2017.

Liz and Ghost get married in London with a small ceremony - August 15th, 2017.

Faith McKinnley Riley is born - May 30th, 2020

Since you’re off-duty while you recover, you decide to spend some time cheering on your fam during gym battles:

Kabu

- The air is warm, and not just from the crowds of people crammed into the stadium. Kabu and his Pokemon have this fiery presence that you can feel even all the way in the stands

- You’ve heard about how the ever-burning man of fire easily sends half the gym challengers home every season and boy he does not disappoint

- Ninetales and Arcanine make your hands itch to pet them and while bugs give you the shivers you have to admit Centiskorch looks kinda badass

- You cheer loudly alongside the rest of Kabu’s fans when he defeats his opponent. If it wasn’t for your busted leg, you probably would have been jumping too. Who knew gym battles could be so exciting?

- Kabu catches sight of you after the match when you hang back to let the bulk of the spectators exit first. No point fighting with people to get out when you’re stuck in a wheelchair

- He chides you lightly for squeezing in with the crowd in your condition, but nevertheless it’s a pleasant surprise to see you at one of his matches and he thanks you for your support

Raihan

- Knowing Raihan’s tendencies to use weather-based moves, you come prepared with goggles, a hat and an umbrella just in case

- A league official stops you at the entrance and for a moment you think you’re getting turned away for bringing prohibited items or something, but then she leads you down another corridor to a designated guest seating area with virtually no one to fight with for breathing space

- (You make a mental note to pick up some green tea for Kabu next time you’re in Motostoke)

- Back in the Wild Area you’ve seen trainers double battling against one another before, but Raihan’s skill is on a whole other level. No wonder he’s the last hurdle gym challengers have to clear before they can reach Leon

- The current challenger manages to cut Raihan’s team down to Duraludon, but the steel dragon’s Gigantamaxed form is the one who deals the final blow

- Raihan turns his back to you before taking his usual post-battle selfie, and you cover your face in embarrassment when you realize he’s trying to catch you in the background

Leon

- Leon’s doing an exhibition match with another gym leader. Her serious demeanor reminds you of Kabu and her Machamp gives you flashbacks of being chased by Machokes in the Stony Wilderness. He’s definitely a Pokémon you don’t want to mess with

- You’re at the edge of your seat as you watch Machamp dodge Charizard’s flamethrower before grabbing him by the tail and slamming him into the ground. Thankfully, Charizard recovers quickly and lunges at Machamp with a vicious slash, knocking his opponent out with a critical hit

- The roar of the crowd is deafening and you resist the urge to cover your ears, not used to all the noise compared to the relative quiet back in the Wild Area. Still, you cheer for Charizard and Leon while clapping for Machamp and his trainer. Despite the loss, her battling was really impressive

- You take a moment to entertain the thought of joining the gym challenge yourself. You’re not a fan of crowds or having people’s attention focused on you, but it’s fun to imagine

- Being a ranger is who you are though, and you wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world

About

Mylvera ‘Vera’ Roslyn Thennis (pronounced Then-nish with emphasis on the Th) was born to a human ranger/farmer— Rowan Thennis— and an elven Ex-Paladin of Corellon— Aurae Dienna. After serving The Protector for over 200 years, she fell in love with Rowan when she helped him fight off an attack by the Drow, the two writing to each other for over a year before she prayed to Corellon to ask if she could leave his order until her husband had died. Granted this wish, she lived with him on his farm, eventually having their first— and only child— three years after their marriage. Mylvera was raised on stories of both the human and elven pantheons, her nursery and childhood bedroom painted with pastoral scenes of both versions of paradise. From the time she could speak and walk, Vera retold these stories and acted them out with her toy bow and wooden sword, defeating Lolth and Mask for the glory of Lathander and Corellon.

When she was ten years old, Vera’s world was turned upside down when the Drow attacked Rothé Valley in earnest, slaughtering everyone who tried to resist them as they enslaved the farming village. Although Aurae and Rowan tried to protect their daughter, the family was taken away. As a high elven woman who still wore the holy symbol of Corellon, Aurae was sacrificed to Lolth, her husband easily cut down in front of their daughter as he tried to protect his wife, and the child was dragged away into the Underdark.

Sold to House Mizzrym— 6th House of Menzoberranzan— she bonded with a 15 year old human from Cormyr, by the name of Cassius. Separated from his sister and mother, he took the frightened Vera under his wing, helping her keep her spirits up and teaching her about the Purple Dragons of his land. A faithful follower of Lathander, he promised her that they would see the sun again, no matter what the Drow did. However, he never got to see that day, as he was killed when Vera was 12 years old.

By the time she turned 15, Vera became a personal handmaiden to Matron Mother Mizzrym. She was the youngest woman ever given the honor, along with a powerful Arcane Mark of their house crest on the back of each hand, that would not fade until her death. Vera immersed herself in learning how to dress and prepare the Matron Mother for the day, every aspect of her life scheduled away. As the personal handmaiden to the Matron Mother, she quickly grew the ire of her son— Valok Mizzrym, whose ability as a wizard was outshone by his frustration and Napoleon complex. He made it his goal to ruin her, no matter what it took.

At twenty years old, ten years after the death of her family, Valok Mizzrym was sent to the surface to prove his worth by doing some reconnaissance in order to help find slaves that could be sold in Menzoberranzan. As a lure and also someone the Matron Mother trusted, Mylvera was sent with him, just days before the backup would arrive. However, her fear of the house’s wrath was overshadowed when she was told to lure away a young girl from her home as a test. When Vera refused to bring a child into the life she was forced into, Valok moved to strike her down, but she was faster— using the dagger coated with paralytic toxins she was supposed to use on his victims, she slit Valok’s throat. Arm shattered by his shortsword and covered in his blood, she cut his silk shirt off and fashioned it into a sling, running away with what money he had on him and the clothes on her back.

She made her way to Neverwinter, where she hid among the beggars and refugees while terrified and wondering where to go. As she sat in a tavern, back against the wall and facing the door, the elven bard began to play a familiar song— an old folk song her uncle had sung years before. Reminded of the family she had left in Waterdeep, she traveled south until she found the Apothecary her uncle Leon Thennis owned with his wife, collapsing into his arms after years of struggling to survive.

Because of the arcane mark on her hands, Mylvera does not stay in the attic-turned-apartment above her family’s shop and flat for more than a month at a time. She knows that she is one scrying spell away from being found, and constantly keeps running— doing odd jobs all over Faerûn to keep from staying in one place for too long. She always returns home with money and some stories, but creating roots or starting a family is out of the question.

Facts

Vera is a Druid-Rogue multiclass. At the moment, there are plans to add a couple levels of cleric (Corellon) in the future, but I want those sweet sweet circle of land [Underdark] spells.

Vera feels very nervous around Drow. It’s a combination of the fact that House Mizzrym could find her at any time to drag her back to Menzoberranzan and the things she saw as a slave— although her mother tried to teach her it is the actions that make a person evil, not their race, her own experiences have overshadowed the childhood lessons.

Because of the trauma she faced in the Underdark, Vera has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and has four alters— Naneth, who acts as a mother figure and protects her; Cormyr, who is a fugue state like personality that blocks out pain; Avuna, who is less withdrawn and stands up for herself; and Hinya, who is the part of her who acts as a ‘good slave’ should. Mylvera is unaware of the personalities except for Naneth, who she has auditory hallucinations of at some points. She believes that she is the spirit of her mother guiding her, and does not realize she is actually a part of herself.

Vera is missing the ring finger on both hands at the first knuckle. On her left, the cut is clean but the veins have turned black and hardened from what appears to be a poison. On the right, it is a jagged cut that seems half-assed, and there is no other damage. Because of this and the Arcane Mark, is glowing slightly red when scried on, she wears leather fingerless gloves at all times.

Vera speaks Elvish, Undercommon, Common, and Dwarvish. After fighting a lot of Yuan-ti, she’s also beginning to think about learning Draconic or Abyssal because fuck you sneople (snake people).

Vera is vaguely Aromantic and/or Asexual. This is partly from a lack of want to be married or settle down— as she doesn’t want to create a family she can’t protect— but even before that she never had dreams of marrying anyone or having kids of her own.

Even though she does not want kids of her own, Mylvera is very protective of children in general. Her own childhood was taken from her in such a violent way that she can’t stand to see children put in any type of danger. To her, even though she will probably never get over what happened to her or her parents, she can at least make sure no one else has to be hurt the same way.

- Steve let Nightmare play on his guitar and then Nightmare did some Skibidi Ohio rizz gyatt cover of Buddy Holly and now he’s not allowed anywhere near Steve’s guitar

- When they were younger Lil Leon told Steve to kill himself over a game of checkers (Steve was bawling his eyes out)

- Leon is surprisingly good at baking

- Leon and Daniel are both insomniacs and they love to blow up Steve’s notifications at like 1AM

- Nightmare probably growls and hisses, he isn’t a furry he just feels like it

Power Rangers: Wild Force/Kim Possible/Jackie Chan Adventures: Chapter 3

Danny and Taylor tried to stand up and face Monkey Fist, down but not out for the count. "Who are you?!" Danny asked.

"Why, how silly of me not to make myself known." Monkey Fist said, mockingly. "The name is Monkey Fist..." Monkey Fist then chattered evilly as he bounced up and down with his fellow monkey ninjas. Taylor froze when she heard that name.

"I've seen him before." Taylor said. "He's one of Kim Possible's arch foes. He was once a world famous archaeologist who went insane studying monkey kung fu. Basically transforming himself into a monkey." Monkey Fist glared at her when she said that.

"What are you doing here?!" Danny asked.

"I'm here on business actually. And I can't have people like you interfering with my work." Monkey Fist said. "My minions will make short work of you. Hopefully, you'll be remembered fondly."

"Not if we have anything to say about it!" Cole said as he and the other Wild Force Rangers came rushing to their fellow Rangers aid. "Did we miss the party?"

"No, you're all just in time!" Taylor said as she and the other Rangers got into fighting positions.

"Well, it's nice to see the gang's all here." Monkey Fist smirked. "Anyway, the name is Monkey Fist and I'm here on business. So, let's make this quick and let me and my minions destroy you once and for all."

"That's not gonna happen!" Cole said as he and the other Rangers grabbed their morphers. "We're teach you something you won't forget!"

"Wild Access!" The Rangers called out. With that, they used their Growl Phones, and Merrick his Lunar Caller, to morph into the Wild Force Rangers.

"Very impressive." Monkey Fist smirked before turning to his army. "Kill them all!" With that, Mokey Fist, his monkey ninjas and Wild Force Rangers charged into battle, with Cole and Merrick battling Monkey Fist, and the other Rangers battling his minions. Both Cole and Merrick were able to block most of Fist's attacks, even landing one good kick, but Monkey Fist had the advantage, able to land a couple of hits on the Red and Lunar Rangers. "Very nice, both of you. But you both should probably know I'm skilled in in the art of monkey kung fu!"

Merrick froze as he heard that phrase. "Tai Shing Pek Kwar?" Merrick asked to himself, knowing the ancient martial art. Monkey Fist took advantage of his distraction to launch a sneak attack on the unsuspecting Ranger. But, Cole saw him coming.

"Merrick! Watch out!" Cole yelled, pushing his fellow Ranger out of the way, taking the hit himself. Monkey Fist laughed evilly as Cole laid down on the ground in pain.

"Cole!" Taylor cried out. "Get away! Hurry!" She was then tackled by monkey ninjas as she became distracted. Monkey Fist approached Cole wearing a wicked grin on his face.

"You just couldn't take the hint, could you?" Monkey Fist asked with a smirk as he reached into his back pocket. "Well, maybe this could help you learn a lesson." He then pulled out what appeared to be a samurai sword as Cole stood up with all his might. "Goodbye Red Ranger." Monkey Fist then swung down to deliver a fatal blow to the Red Lion Ranger.

"Cole! No!" Danny yelled as he pushed his fellow Ranger out of the way, taking the hit himself. Danny collapsed onto the ground as the samurai sword sliced through his suit, seriously injuring him.

"Danny!" Max cried out, rushing to his fallen Ranger and best friend. Monkey Fist then backed away as the rest of the Rangers gathered around the Black Bison Ranger.

"Well, this has been fun, but as I said before, I'm here on business. And now I have to get back to it." Monkey Fist smirked, feeling confident that he has injured a Power Ranger. "Minions! Come with me!" With that, Monkey Fist and his army fled from the Rangers as they tried to help their friend.

Danny then de morphed into his civilian clothes, still seriously injured. The Rangers then did the same. "Danny, why would you do that?!" Max asked, angry that his friend would put his life on the line for Cole's.

"I had to. Remember guys, never give up..." Danny said before groaning in pain again.

"We have to get him to a hospital!" Alyssa said, helping Danny onto his feet. "Let's go." The Rangers then carried Danny as they made their way to the Turtle Cove hospital.

ack in Middleton, Ron Stoppable grew extremely worried as school was out for the day. Right now, he sat with Rufus at his table at Beuno Nacho eating nacos, without Kim by his side. Over the course of the day, Kim has not talked to or even acknowledged Ron, making him extremely nervous. "Kim? Not talking to me at school? Not sitting with me at lunch? Not full on kissing me in the hallways? And now, skipping Beuno Nacho? Rufus, something is very wrong..." Ron said with fear in his voice. "Do you think this could be because of the Camille Leon sitch?" Rufus thought about it for a second and shrugged. They then noticed Kim's rival, Bonnie Rockwaller coming in. "Maybe Bonnie knows something."

Ron approached Bonnie at her table, making the queen bee growl with annoyance. "What do you want loser?" Bonnie asked.

"Bonnie, have you talked to Kim at all today?" Ron asked. Bonnie rolled her eyes at that question.

"No. Why? Something happened?" Bonnie asked.

"She's been acting like I wasn't even around all day at school. She didn't talk to me, sat with me at lunch, or full on kissed me in the hallways. And now, she hasn't showed up here to eat with me." Ron explained. "I don't know, but I think it has to do with me mistaking her for Camille Leon, almost landing her in trouble, and letting Camille off scot free." Bonnie's face formed a wicked grin as she heard that. I can't resist, Bonnie thought to herself.

"Really? If that's the case, looks like you screwed up big time." Bonnie said. "You might as well find yourself someone else before she makes it official."

Ron tried to figure out what Bonnie meant before he put two and two together. "Wait a minute. Are you saying that Kim's gonna dump me?" Ron asked.

"No duh." Bonnie replied. "It's so clear that your blunder has gotten K so upset that she's using the silent treatment as a starting point to end the whole thing. If I were you Ron Stoppable, I better return her gifts and delete her from your contacts before she fully drops the break up bomb on you. Hoped you enjoyed it while you did." Bonnie then left her table, leaving with a nervous Ron with his thoughts and Rufus.

"No, she's just trying to mess with me. Right, little buddy?" Ron asked, pushing what Bonnie said to the back of his head, with Rufus nodding in agreement, then blowing a raspberry to signify how ridiculous Bonnie is. "Bonnie is trying to get inside my head, just like she did when I thought Kim was gonna dump me for an athlete. But that's not gonna work. I'm gonna go talk to Kim, and maybe we'll have the whole thing straightened out." Ron then exited Beuno Nacho and went to the Middleton Mall, where he was sure Kim was there.

On the island of the Animarium, the other Wild Force Rangers all sat around, feeling guilty over Danny's injuries. They have took him to the hospital where he was examined, and is now resting. Princess Shayla saw them and became concerned. "How's Danny?" Shayla asked sadly.

"He's pretty badly hurt." Alyssa replied. "The doctors said it could possibly be a month before he recovers." Max punched a rock in frustration.

"This is all my fault. I should have taken the hit." Max said, his teeth clenched. Cole placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"Don't blame yourself." Cole said. "We'll figure out a way to go on without Danny for awhile. Right now, we have to figure out more about that Monkey Fist guy."

"I know somethings about him." Taylor said, standing up. "He's one of Kim Possible's arch foes, he used to be an archaeologist who basically became a humanoid monkey himself."

"Anything else?" Alyssa asked.

"He's skilled in the ancient art of Tai Shing Pek Kwar." Merrick said, causing the other Rangers to stare at him. "Monkey Kung Fu."

"How do you know about it Merrick?" Cole asked, curiously.

"Merrick has studied it before." Shayla answered. "It was once one of our proud martial arts. But Animus had it banned when most of his students became obsessed with it, and almost became evil."

"He said that he was in Turtle Cove for business." Alyssa said, thinking out loud. "What in the world did he mean by that?" The Rangers all thought hard over what he said before a thought came to Cole's mind.

"He's after something." Cole said. The other Rangers stared at him, confused. "It won't be long before he gets it. We have to make sure that whatever he's after, it can't fall into his hands."

"But what about Danny?" Max asked, concerned.

"Unfortunately until he recovers, we must find a replacement for him." Princess Shayla said. "Hopefully it won't be long until we find one who can control his Bison Zord." Taylor placed a comforting hand on Max's shoulder.

"Hey, never give up, right?" Taylor asked with a smile. Max then smiled and nodded in agreement.

"Yeah. Never give up." Cole repeated with a smile. Even though that Danny was not gonna be fighting with them for awhile, they would find a way to fight this new enemy of theirs.

MEXICO CITY | Group: Land activist murders keep rising, 2017 deadliest yet

MEXICO CITY — Killings of land and environmental activists rose in 2017 as Mexico and the Philippines registered worrying increases in such murders and Brazil saw the most ever registered in a single country, a watchdog group said Tuesday.

At least 207 people who were protecting land and resources from business interests were slain last year, up from 201 the year before, according to Global Witness. That makes 2017 the deadliest year since the group began formally recording such deaths in 2015.

The group said that its figures were almost certainly vast underestimates because of the difficulties of identifying and confirming such killings.

In many cases, consumer demand is helping drive the pressures as agribusinesses expand production of coffee, palm oil, sugar cane and other cash crops. For the first time, more activists were killed in confrontations with agribusiness as opposed to mining interests, the report said.

“The number of killings is continuing to rise, which is stark evidence that governments and business are still not prioritizing this issue and have not showed any seriousness in tackling it,” Ben Leather, the report’s author, told The Associated Press.

The fact that more deadly conflicts were associated with agribusiness for the first time “should serve as a wake-up call to those businesses and to those investing in large-scale agriculture that they need to be better, too, and ensure that their money isn’t funding this violence,” he added.

In Brazil the scramble for control of the Amazon’s resources often leads to conflict. It remained the most deadly country for land activists, with 57 people killed last year. That’s the highest toll in a single year in any country since Global Witness began counting.

But there were also worrying jumps in the Philippines, which saw a 70 percent increase in such killings to 48 — the most ever for an Asian country — and in Mexico, where the toll rose from three to 15. In the Democratic Republic of Congo, 13 people were killed, 12 of whom were park rangers protecting wildlife.

In the Philippines, 20 killings were linked to conflicts with agribusiness, and there are indications the military was involved in many of them. The report linked the slayings to President Rodrigo Duterte‘s push to expand industrial agriculture, especially on the island of Mindanao, where most of the killings have taken place and where martial law has been declared. Eight of those slayings were of indigenous Taboli-manubo people resisting expansion of a coffee plantation.

A Philippine military commander, Lt. Gen. Benjamin Madrigal, said the military does not condone extrajudicial killings and troops are needed to enforce environmental laws and ensure that companies consult rural communities which could be affected by mining or agricultural businesses.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has declared his readiness to confront large corporations even if the government loses much-needed revenues.

“I warn irresponsible miners, along with their patrons, to stop destroying our watersheds, recharge areas, forests, and aquatic resources. You can no longer fish in our rivers. It’s all contaminated. And the color is not even brown or white, it’s black,” the president said in a state of the union address on Monday.

Nearly half of activists who were killed last year in the southern Philippines were opposing the operations of corporate-owned agricultural plantations, said Leon Dulce of Kalikasan, a Philippine group that monitors attacks on environmental advocates. “How can you say that you’re defending bio-diversity, the environment and natural resources if their frontline defenders, like the natives and farmers, become the target of your military and police?”

In Mexico, murders in the country hit a record high since comparable statistics began to be kept in the 1997. Global Witness linked the spike in activists’ killings to organized crime and a generalized climate of impunity, saying the government is failing to implement protective measures and laws on environmental governance.

Those factors are not new for Mexico, but there can be a “cumulative effect” when the vast majority of crimes go unpunished, Leather said.

“As years of impunity go by, the perpetrators feel more emboldened than ever because they have more and more evidence that they’re simply going to get away with murder,” he said.

Leather said his organization has documented four more land activist killings in Mexico so far this year. He urged President-elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who takes office Dec. 1, to make tackling the problem a priority.

Rodrigo Santiago Juarez of the government’s National Human Rights Commission agreed with the report’s core findings. Activists of all stripes in Mexico face not only “attacks, threats, killings and disappearances” but also public stigmatization of their work, he said.

Santiago said the Commission has campaigned to counter that and support the work of civil society. He noted that since 2012 the government has operated what’s known as the “mechanism,” a program that provides protective measures such as panic buttons, home security systems and in some cases bodyguards to about 400 activists and 300 journalists.

“It is a measure that can be a help for many people,” Santiago said. “But we also know that the mechanism … on its own cannot solve everything. The best way to resolve this situation is, first, punishing the attackers.” He also called for improving laws on exploitation of natural resources, and for such exploitation to take place in consultation with local populations.

The Global Witness report likewise criticized Brazilian President Michel Temer’s administration for rolling back environmental protections and cutting funding for institutions that promote rights of indigenous people and small landholders. Indigenous groups say government policies have led to land grabs by ranchers, farmers and loggers in incursions that often end in violence.

Temer’s office declined to comment, saying they had not seen the report.

In Honduras, which for years has been cited by Global Witness as the deadliest country per capita for land activists, five activists were murdered in 2017, compared with 14 the previous year.

That improvement followed an outcry over the 2016 slaying of Berta Caceres, a winner of the prestigious Goldman Environmental Prize for defending her Lenca indigenous people’s lands from a hydroelectric project. Two years later, at least nine people have been arrested in the case.

“The government has felt the eyes of the world upon it for all the wrong reasons after Berta Caceres’ murder, and the advances that are finally being made in investigations of that case are noteworthy and should have an impact into dissuading further killings,” Leather said.

While fewer environmentalists were killed, police increasingly are abusing and criminalizing protests, he added.
