When the Doctor takes a photo with his camera in the episide "Latent Image," the diaphragm is actually a million photos of Jetal.

Neither this revelation nor the screencaos are mine. I read this bit of trivia on Memory Alpha, then headed to Trek Core to see if it was true. Seeing that screencap was oddly spooky.

GRIF TIME! I think this may have actually been the first time I’ve drawn him digitally, which is weird to think about. I like how his design ended up, though; him and my next design for Kai are very inspired by creatixanimi’s versions.

Notes about orange man:

- So, yes, his uniform should technically be gold since he’s in Security in a TNG-inspired setting, but one of the original canons for this AU I established was that Sarge makes all his crewmembers wear red no matter what the rank, which is why Simmons isn’t in blue. Plus, I wanted to play on Grif being a Redshirt who absolutely suffers from the Redshirt curse. He just hasn’t died yet!

- One of the biggest design changes I made for Grif and Simmons is the origin of their cyborg/patchwork parts, in that they’re not related to each other. Simmons’s is from a explosion when he was on Romulus, and Grif’s is from the various injuries he’s suffered over the years.

- Technically, Grif should be a Lieutenant like the rest of the Reds, but I think it’s funny if Sarge just refuses to promote him. Sorry, Grif, at least in the first part of this hypothetical show you’ll always be an ensign.

- Him joining Starfleet would follow the same pattern it does in the show, where throughout most of it he insists that he was pressured into it by the people around him on Earth, but eventually he would admit he joined to run away from his home life.

Next is Kai!
