*holds you by shoulders*
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT 1082 I WAS SURE IT WAS SHIPPY THING AND NOW I NEED TO KNOW
*starts sobbing while slowly falling to my knees*
…….please
I SAW THIS YESTERDAY NIGHT WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO FALL ASLEEP AND I JUST WOKE UP EARLY TO REPLY BECAUSE I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR AGES FOR THIS QUESTION I AM GOING TO KISS YOU ANON-
I do love and adore the shippy part of 1082 because I am a very intense Shuggy shipper and I had been waiting to read their break-up for sooo long. But it's not exactly what made the chapter life-changing for me, tbh.
Buggy's speech is... Is incredibly beautiful and encouraging. It explains so much about his character, the dynamic he has with Cross Guild, and why he's so resentful toward Shanks. Throughout the manga, we've seen him in serious moments, yes, but usually, Buggy is pretty much used for comedy relief more than anything. This is one of the first times we've seen Buggy realize the position he has now and say "Fuck it. Already on the verge of dead for these two, might as well do something with this shitty situation because for once, I have the opportunity to be brave and be more than what people think of me". There's literally nothing stopping him right now, and he prefers to risk his life enraging Crocodile and Mihawk than letting this opportunity of showing who he truly is slide.
And tbh, we haven't seen them ever since (I am starving please-) but I am really hopeful his speech somehow makes Crocodile and Mihawk have a little tiny itty bitty of respect for him at least. Because out of the three? Buggy is the one who deserves the title of pirate more.
Mihawk and Crocodile don't have dreams or ambitions and see pirating as a business. Even when Crocodile did have ambitions (remember when the silly rubber guy destroyed all of his dreams that was a funny arc haha) his whole personality has always been more of a mafioso than anything. Mihawk is a simple man and is bored with life being at the top of the top, he clearly wants something interesting to happen but doesn't see any use in looking for it himself. They care about their commodities and wealth. But out of the three, Buggy is the one who had to give up on his dream and now he has the opportunity to fulfill it.
"How can you call yourselves pirates with schemes like that?! You're doing it all backwards!! [...] Way back when... What did you guys want to be?! [...] I wanna be king of the pirates!! Wealth? Power? Why stop there when we can have it all?!"
This is something a real pirate would say. He talks like Roger here, I am going to curl up and cry don't look at me-
What I like about One Piece is the constant use of themes like dreams and freedom etc, etc... That's something we all know. But you wouldn't expect it coming from Buggy, of all people. And I think I'm pretty fond of him being brave and finally acting upon what he truly wants to do. What makes it great is that you have this comedy relief character standing up for his dream in front of clearly two other antagonists that have control over him in, well, strength and everything. But Buggy has something they don't and it's so, so much ambition and a dream that could be considered childish but it's the representation of freedom and doing things because you want to follow your heart. This is kind of why I always say Luffy would be more fond of Buggy if he knew the whole story and would probably support him a lot--
What I like the most about this chapter is both Buggy's character development through a speech + flashback and Mihawk and Crocodile being completely stunned by it because they weren't expecting this to happen from Buggy of all people. I know I sound like a broken record but I really, really, want them to respect Buggy a little bit more after this. Also, Buggy doesn't do this only to announce he's going to follow his dream now that he's on equal footing with Shanks. He does it because the other two mention needing overwhelming power over the rest. Buggy isn't stupid and knows how manipulating people works. The thing that makes pirates work harder isn't money, it's a dream. And there's nothing a pirate desires more than the One Piece, so that's kind of why he announces it publicly. First, to establish power, and second, so that way Mihawk and Crocodile don't get rid of him because seriously, Buggy is a better boss than these two because their followers appreciate him and don't feel forced to follow him.
Not to mention that the whole thing also shows more of Buggy's relationship with Roger and how left out he felt because people thought highly of Shanks instead of him. But Buggy, even if he was jealous, was willing to follow Shanks despite his feelings because he accepted being less worthy of respect than him. Shanks shone brightly and Buggy decided that, even if he wanted to be seen like that too, he'd give up on his dream and support Shanks instead because at least they'd do this together, just the way they did everything back at the time.
But then Shanks hesitates, and I think that's Buggy's last straw because he sees giving up going for the One Piece as something disrespectful to their captain (dad) and thinks it's unfair that Shanks is so respected by everyone even though the one wanting to follow their captain's steps right away is him. It's honestly frustrating. And then you understand better why Buggy is angry at Shanks-- Yeah, he made him eat the devil fruit and lost the map because of him (not really but whatever), but the way I see it that's just a metaphor for the real reason why Buggy is so resentful. Shanks' existence, even if it was not on purpose, made Buggy feel so powerless he gave up on his dream. And eating a devil fruit means the sea hates you and you can't have any independence in the pirate world, and losing the map is kind of like losing the only thing that guides you. He left Buggy with nothing and let him carry the burden of a lost dream.
This is funny because Shanks did absolutely nothing wrong and everything is a product of jealousy and miscommunication, but I understand why Buggy blames Shanks and this chapter makes it clearer and explains it perfectly.
Basically, it's such an amazing chapter for Buggy's character and it's definitely my favorite for him specifically. Although the flashback does wonders for my Shuggy heart.
Also, adding more points for the revolutionary plot in the end and Sabo showing up because I adore him <3

Okay but that episode of Andor was so good like
I loved the contrats between the immaculate white clean Coruscant scenes and the natural fleshed scenes on Aldhani - and by fleshed I mean the texture, the rough edges, it's natural it's alive there is grass and trees and you just know it's that fresh air with no wind etc.
And again, the fact that they film on site and not in a studio makes it even more immersive, you just see how the plans are different and how they are more free to move around, to jungle with wide shots and close-ups and it's reaally cool
Now in terms of story, it's super interesting, because we see at least three layers of opposition to the Empire, with the sheepers, the senators, but also the in-betweens with Luthen kind of jungling between both territories and both 'worlds'
And of course the Empire; I just love how so far we have barely seen any military in the strict "storm-trooper" sense; here we mostly see the higher hierarchy sitting and talking in rooms, having their little internal conflicts because they are ambitious and want a bigger part od the cake, like it's really different from the usual take on the Empire, and mostly it really echoes all these Senate scenes in the previous movies/ in TCW and it put a certain twisted emphasis on how things change, but not really
Plus we see the mundane aspect of their work, and mostly how they treat terrible things with such a disinterested attitude (when they talked about the incarceration rates for example) and yeah it was a breath of fresh air to see that "mundane" aspect of the Empire, to see more of the system than the strict military approach we had seen so far
I'm also quite excited to see the rebel team at work tbh I can't wait to see who will be doing what and how they'll do it & see how everyone interact too I feel like that will be interesting! and I'm also looking forward the dinner scene (I hope they'll show the dinner scene) because I'm really interested in seeing how they'll deal with the tension and possible conflict in that scene like that could lead to a great moment of tension
Overall, and once again, Andor did not disappoint and is once again the proof that, when the efforts are there, Star Wars can be good. And honestly, I'm very happy and excited about that.

I’m imagining that Hermes was an accident. Like Sausage and newly-a-god Joel were hanging out late at night, probably partaking in some food and drink, and Joel starts bragging about all the new shit he can do. Like he’s tall and can lift hella stuff now or whatever and Sausage is like that’s cool but like just a normal person could do that. If you’re such a god you should prove it by, I don’t know, animating that armour stand over there? and now they have to play divorced dads with an armour stand child

might just be me but i am obsessed with the fae stuff going on with empires right now??? like. none of them call the emperors by their names (bc like. fae hold power in names or smth) and they're granting wishes but they're also kinda bad and they play pranks on them (see: jimmy getting attacked by ravagers when the first creeper skull stuff was going on)
could just be that i love the concept of fae but i am desperate to know where they're all going with this tbh- is it a malicious force that is using them to get what they want? because the fae stuff in jimmy's ep was talking about recreating bodies (or something similar at least, because that's why they wanted the first creeper skull). so why do they want to have physical form? were they banished and unable to return without help???

Hi I don't usually talk about empires SMP on here but it's so funny to me that in many of pixlriffs's streams (whenever anyone asked) he's been like "yeah 12 is the perfect number for an smp, very divisible, no one else is being added or else it'd be too unruly to collab with everyone" etc etc and then today, 6 weeks after the start of the series, Oli is revealed to have joined as the 13th member like I've just been absolutely bamboozled

The hermits are a strange species.
A species that, despite being the same, look so different from one another.
Maybe that's what tipped Scott off.
The way that his eyes could never seem to focus on them, even though he saw them clearly.
It was worse with a lot of them. Like the one called Impulse, who had claimed to know Scott.
However, it was horrible when he looked at the one called Pearl.
She was so blurry, yet so clear.
So- familiar, but at the same time so strange.
She gave off a really strong magical aura, much like Joel's, but stronger.
Even her clothes were familiar, though she claimed that they had appeared when she emerged from the rift.
Scott decided it was best to keep her close, even if she didn't seem all that evil. And if that were the case, then that just meant he'd have a strong ally.
Another peculiar one was Grian, who Scott somehow felt the effect least of, but always felt like he was being watched whenever he was around the winged guy. He also could never seem to bring himself to look Grian in the eyes. It was cery unusual.
He also saw an incredibly strong aura coming of the avian, this one a mix of both red and purple.
It was almost overwhelming.
Joe Hills was yet another oddity.
On the outside, they seemed human enough, but there was something... off about them.
She didn't seem to understand human customs, and was easily confused.
What Scott know for sure after interacting with her once, was that this hermit was nowhere close to being human.
He was more like a cryptid than anyone else.

Pix taps at the watch on his wrist. A strange blue projection has stuttered to life as it scanned the area that he chose to call his home base, and Pix would be a terrible reconstructionist if he didn’t know how to construct.
Circling the perimeter of the projection, he takes note of the materials he already has, the eroded basalt pillars and sparse, fossilized acacia leaves hanging in the remnants of what the projection tells him used to be some kind of home. Copper peeks over the archway of the annexed room, tarnished and green, nearly worn through with holes.
He gets to work. It’s nice to sit back, relax, and simply follow what the projection is telling him this place looked like. He’s not trying to make the place beautiful, nor like how it was when it was first built; he’s just trying to make it accurate. A relic, still, a shade of what it once was.
Pix hears something when he sets down the last dirtied copper block into its frame. The laughter of a little girl. It echoes, ethereal in nature and loud across even the corroded walls of the final ruin, moving the way the shapes of water’s reflections move across the walls of a poolhouse, and he stills. Pix glances over his shoulder, half-expecting the ripples to make themselves visible even in the hot savannah, but there is nothing.
What is the difference between projection and ghosts, really?

bc it's like. and i was GOING to talk to you about the religion aspect of it because it is also partly a letter to God where i am like bro fuck me why is everything so hard; but also like. u know that already i could talk myself into the ground about that already so like yeah. i never posted this one bc it explicitly mentioned my age in a way that i Do Not have the heard to change and also i am emotionally fragile about it and it was probably one of the last songs i wrote before the one i made for tater last year... and it's SO SAD man. it started out as a poem about me hating summer now and the fact that i hated hating summer now because it used to be my favorite season, but then every single thing that made me love the season got taken away from me--the place i was in when i got to experience it, the people i got to be with, the friends and the family and the spending time with all of those people who were so important to me--and then it kind of slowly turned into me going why is everything that i am fucked up how do you even wait for me when i'm like this why must time pass and why does the hurt only get worse. and there's like no real point to me talking about this song i do not think i am going anywhere with this but it is SO IMPRESSIVE how badly i did not want to listen to it until like. over a year later. and now every time i listen to it it's wild because i always get to have the fun realization that this fits literally any breakdown i could have that would have me listening to sad music like goddamn it is it a versatile little fucker of a song.
but also it is interesting because there are parts in there that i've grown a little about and i can look back and be glad that i have moved on from it. it's like a little marker fr like one day when i'm like fifty i can look back on this song and be like haha fuck you life i won. so i'm kind of just. drifting along waiting for that i think

well, don't get all mushy on me. [Marc]
"I would never dream of it."
Tumblr media
In an instant, the card up his sleeve that would serve as Marc's invitation to a rather nice restaurant in Seoul - their designated operational area in four days time - disappears further up his arm, and he does a very good job of making the sudden tightness in his face seem just like tiredness.
In part, that's because he is tired. He's been preparing low-altitude anti-grav gliders for the team's mission for the past two weeks without many breaks, and he'd been rather keeping the thought of sharing some bibimbap, bulgogi and jjigae with the other man as, something of a mental incentive, a reward to look forward to.
But that's. Not really on the cards, it seems.
No, it's not just tiredness. And he's. Finding it a little hard to maintain his emotional filter at current.
"Well. Apologies for taking up your time, Moon Knight - I really should get back to it."

Possessed!Jimmy AU
So I posted art for an AU the other day
And I figure I should explain a bit more about it.
Long story short, it’s an AU where Sheriff Jimmy gets possessed by Xornoth (please note I came up with this before the stuff with S1!Sausage being possessed was revealed)
After he basically got his role of sheriff revoked by Fwhip when he stole his hat, Jimmy started to go a bit mad. His only sense of feeling important was having that position of power, and now he feels as small as he stands. He tried to go to Pix about it since he’s a very neutral party in the going’s on of the server, but when he arrived, Pix was gone. He started to explore and found something in Pix’s museum in a room off to the side. A glowing red crystal. Since Jimmy had never seen anything like it before, he breaks into the case holding it. Upon taking the crystal, jimmy started to feel this looming sense of evil. He leaves Pix’s museum but the feeling follows him back to tumble town.
Jimmy starts to get this flashes of events that he never experienced, of a man with the head of a codfish. He sees this man building up an empire in the swamp, spending time with someone who he called his “seabling”, going on a date with a princely figure with deer antlers.
And eventually, he sees a figure, clothed entirely in darkness aside from his piercing red eyes and smile.
The figure called to the sheriff. He promised him power. He promised to give him the ability to get revenge on those who disrespected him. Jimmy would be respected like a GOD.
And how could the sheriff turn down an opportunity like that?
But the sheriff wasn’t aware of what would happen next. As jimmy shook the hand of the figure, he could feel his spirit leaving his body, as the darkened figure entered it. His face and body warped, his sclera turning black, and dark tendrils creeping up his arms. Crimson horns burst from his head as the figure laughed. His laugh. Jimmy couldn’t control his own body. Instead, he became a puppet for a dark lord to wreak havoc with. In a place who’s main export was gunpowder… surrounded by sand…
There are definitely some plot holes I need to consider, like why Pix would have Xornoth’s crystal in the first place, but it’s an in progress idea. It mostly came from the idea of Jimmy becoming a puppet through whatever means he’s a toy (I like to think a curse put on him by mr lore god). And I always love a good possession route.

I kinda want the batch to get away from Cid and either settle down somewhere or go off to help Rex and Echo.
I don't trust her and she doesn't deserve their help anymore after she did nothing to help them when they needed it.
But i feel like Cid might be a little bitter about it n might end up ratting them out to the empire (probably for money) and that's how they find Omega.
