Sex Ratio of Books Read

I am conscious of the sex ratio of the books I read ever since I started marking them on my Goodreads a year ago. Still, as much as I consciously try, it gravitates to become skewed towards men, while my female friends find it easy to keep things balanced. It's not as if I don't have female writers on my TBR; it's just an anomaly (that I so desperately want to rectify) that causes the books I eventually read to be picked up by men. I should investigate why.

Brand new M/M romance book. I know, what the %*#. I just finished with Captive Prince and that kinds of ruined me for anything else. But I gotta move on even though it's too hardddd. This book was actually written by a Filipino. How cool is that? And yes, it's shameless romance. After Captive Prince, I read "The Catcher in the Rye" and "It's Kind of a Funny Story " in quick succession and you could just tell I'm in a funny place now. Hello World.

This blog is born out of one of my worst writing blocks in quite a while. I find it difficult to balance reading and writing. If I am on a reading spree, it is nigh difficult for me to write anything down, perhaps (but not necessarily) out of a subconscious fear that what I write may be too derivative. I am not afraid of this derivation being plagiarism, because I know all literature is to some extent or another, a form of plagiarism - of words/themes/ideas; my primary fear is that my mind remains vulnerable to ramblings penned down by some dead chap ages ago, when I have just finished their book. I feel like sitting down and processing and writing something using my own voice, but since I am on a reading spree, I instead go and pick up another book and let another dead chap seduce my mind.
