I have some thoughts and I won't call it "a theory" or "analysis" lol, it's more like product of my obsession with Swift and kaylor combined with me being Greek mythology geek. Also idk if anyone mentioned it before so sorry If I'm late to the party.
So...I rewatched Anti Hero mv and now I have some new thought about this particular moment:
Tumblr media
«Pierced through the heart but never killed»
You know who in Greek mythology pierce through the heart but never kills? Eros (Cupid) does. Ig it's already cool symbolism if we consider that moment of piercing with that arrow as falling in love and that love makes her bleed with this lavender thing (which is smth that a lot of ppl in gaylor fandom interpretate as her gayness or whatever). But then I remembered one of the most popular myths abt Eros which is legend abt Eros and Psyche (btw reference to this myth was used in last season of Killing Eve).
First interesting thing is that this myth in some way about secret love or rather love with some secrets. Cause Psyche for a long time didn't see Eros, didn't know who her lover was and they used to meet only at night. And all other ppl knew that Psyche had a lover but they also had no idea who is he.
Lets look up some more info abt myth.
Aphrodite (goddess of love and mother of Eros) was mad at Psyche cause she was incredibly beautiful and 'Dite ordered Eros to use his power(arrows) to make Psyche fall in love with horrible ugly creature. But when Eros saw Psyche «he himself felt his heart pierced by one of his own arrows» means he fell in love with her and ofc failed his mission.
Meanwhile Psyche was worried cause she never was in love with anyone and nobody was really in love with her. This situation stressed out her parents. So they asked Apollo for advice. «Apollo decreed that Psyche, dressed in black dress, should be brought to the summit of a mountain and stay there alone. The husband that was assigned to her, a winged serpent, terrible and more powerful than the gods themselves, would come up and take her for his wife». Ofc it was horrible fate but it's not like they could do smth. But when Psyche did as Apollo told her and was ready to accept her fate...
«While she was shaking and crying in the quiet night, a slight breeze reached her. It was the fresh wind of Zephyr, the mildest of the winds. He felt that she was being raised....She then woke up by the sound of clear stream and when she opened her eyes she faced an imposing and magnificent castle. It seemed destined to a god, with gold columns, silver walls and floors of inlaid precious stones». ( Bejeweled mv vibe maybe?). That's where she "met" Eros tho she didn't see him, but she heard him and understood that castle is her home now and the voice belongs to her lover aka the one she always wished for.
Psyche didn't know much abt him, met him only at night(it was Eros' conditions) and during day she was always alone so she asked to bring her sisters in the castle. Eros didn't like that idea cause he believed her sister will influence her in a bad way but he let her invite them anyway. Sisters were very jealous of what Psyche had (bad sisters bejeweled vibe again?) so they started to sabotage her thoughts abt her mysterious lover and made Psyche more curious abt who he was.
«Indeed, that night, when her husband fell asleep peacefully, she took courage and lit the candle....The light did not show a monster but the most beautiful of men....But while he was leaning on him, a drop of oil fell from the candle on the back of that handsome, young man. He woke up in pain and saw the light. He looked her at the eyes and, facing Psyche's distrust, he left their bedroom without uttering a single word. Psyche immediately ran after her husband. It was dark and she could not see him, but could hear his heartbroken voice: Love can not live without trust.»
Psyche understood that her lover was Eros himself but Eros felt hurt and betrayed. (The great war vibes?).
Psyche was desperate and went to Aphrodite to ask what to do. Aphrodite thought that Psyche wasn't a good match for Eros so, in order to prove her love for Eros, Psyche had to complete three impossible, even dangerous tasks. (The great war vibes again?). Btw one of the tasks was to separate «different small seeds of wheat, poppies, millets and many others».
Long story short, even when Psyche completed all tasks Aphrodite was mad at her and told that she(Psyche) will forever remaine her servant and won't be with Eros. But other gods decided to tell/show Eros what Psyche did to prove her love and he was touched by it, believed that Psyche truly loves him and actually never meant to betray him. So Eros decided to save Psyche: «He left his room and found Psyche exhausted in his mother's garden».
They had their happy ending. Actually it's one of the most beautiful and pure love stories in Greek mythology. And yeah for me this legend kinda vibes with some Taylor's songs but one question still remains.
Who is the archer (Eros) and who is the prey(Psyche?)?

:nervously off anon: So I watched the Anti-Hero video for the first time yesterday (I know, I know...SO behind the times), and I'm so curious how Swifties are interpreting the very clear symbolism. Like, Taylor is two selves. One of them (the "villain") is her exact presentation out in the world right now. Taylor's lyrics match up with her real self. Her public persona doesn't match up with her lyrics. Swifties don't acknowledge this contrast?
Also, what do they make of the bottle she's drinking from? The one with the Lover video's family crest. Do they not wonder WHY that crest is in a video that is otherwise not about romance? Like, I feel like with close attention to lyrics + close attention to videos + an ounce of attention to how her persona changes from album to album + THE ENTIRE LOVER Era = AT THE VERY LEAST that she is not who she seems (and is most certainly under the queer umbrella).
An even deeper dive will lead you to "she is with Karlie; that crest is signaling Karlie; her songs signal Karlie; Taylor is likely identifying as a lesbian now." Yet somehow they don't see any of it that way, and I wonder how. Maybe willful ignorance. Maybe selection of detail to support their own thesis. Maybe it's the English major in me that makes me pore over this stuff.
My assumption is that many Swifties center their listening experience on how they relate to what Taylor's talking about, so it's more about their own experience and projection than what is actually being written. I know they'd say the same about gaylors, but there are CLEAR motifs in this discography. It's all fascinating but also driving me mad. LOL
Anyway, sorry for the novel. I am still a whole n00b to this fandom and mostly choose to engage with Taylor's world via this corner of Tumblr and through her lyrics. The wider fandom seems like actual hell. LOL
Whew ok I needed a minute to read and process before responding 😂
1. Swifties see the anti-hero more as her battle with fame I think, kinda missing the deeper meaning of her being a completely different person underneath that fame.
2. I doubt they think about the crest at all. I never noticed it until a Kaylor blog pointed it out and showed all the times it’s been displayed. They probably assume it’s just a random design.
3. Her persona changing from album to album actually gives them fuel to say she’s NOT part of the queer community because “the lover era was her activist era, just showing her support, then she moved on from it”
4. They’re NOT looking for signals to Karlie. And they take what she shows them (hanging all over football guy) at face value
5. Projection is a big piece of it. “Loving in secret” to us, is such an obvious flag to the experience of realizing you’re queer in a heteronormative society. I think a lot of them romanticize this instead. They see it as finding a love so special, you want to keep it to yourself. I think a lot of them are obsessed with her work because she describes this intense, earth-shattering love. It gives them hope to find it… but they don’t realize it’s a queer love. And the fact is… 2 women loving one another do share a different experience than a man and woman, because of how women express themselves and understand the universal female experience. Add that to the experience of being queer in anyway. So… they’re kinda holding onto false hope they’ll find a love like she describes. But also there is no other Karlie Kloss in this world 😍🥰
Anyway, my thoughts. Thanks for being brave enough to come off anon! Always love a good chat.

Midnights in Paris, Texas
Shout out to @gaylors-cardigan for posting a photo of Taylor during Midnights Mayhem with a red phone ☎️ next to a photo of Lily with a red phone ☎️. At first, I thought it was just a random coincidence. But then I remembered that Lily’s photo was her Halloween 2019 costume as the Nastassja Kinski character from the movie Paris, Texas. Which got me thinking about Taylor’s song Paris on Midnights, which to me is the most Lily song on Midnights.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taylor used the red phone throughout Midnights Mayhem to reveal various song titles.
Tumblr media
The movie Paris, Texas is about two lovers who have not seen each other in four years. The man was controlling and obsessive about the woman, leading to the breakup. Ultimately he finds her working at her new job in a new city. The one and only scene in the movie with the red phone ☎️ is the scene where they meet up after years apart. This Wim Wenders 1984 film is one of Lily’s favorites. The video of Lily as this character from Paris, Texas is still up as a reel on Lily’s IG to this day. It’s the only personal reel she still has up.
Tumblr media
One of the themes of the movie, is the lead character trying to find Paris, Texas. People think he is referring to Paris, France but he is not. Instead he has an old school map (“drew a map on your bedroom ceiling”) that he uses to try to find Paris, Texas - a town in the middle of nowhere where he longs to go. An oxymoron and contradiction to Paris, France.
The late 70’s/early 80’s interior decor of Paris, Texas, especially the house scenes, looks very similar to the Midnights decor and aesthetic, especially the Lavender Haze and Anti-Hero music videos. There’s even house scenes with fish.
The red phone in the movie also has a vintage beige speaker next to it (the speaker is what Nastassja Kinski’s character hears her ex-lover through) similar to Taylor’s Midnights Mayhem with the vintage beige speaker near the red phone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So is this all just a coincidence? An easter egg? A playful nod to one of Lily’s favorite movies? A nod to late October 2019 when both Taylor and Lily were in Los Angeles, shortly before their final social media interaction in November/December?

I see that all Taylors unhinged Kaylor references are making the Anti's sweaty piss-babies again, lol. They're all pissy and whiny because they know deep down that Kaylor is the only thing that makes all of Taylor's shit make sense and they resent it.
I mean Taylor would have literally zero reasons to have that angsty bitch subtext about Pablo Picasso in Anti-Hero if she was dating her loser-ass beard for real, Picasso was an abusive monster that enjoyed torturing the women in his life for artistic inspiration and he also enjoyed isolating them and destroying their artistic careers so he could have his muse all to himself until he got tired of her and threw her away to find a shiny, even younger new girl to be his new muse/torture victim.
The only reason Loser-boy even has a career after that Ang Lee flop he was in is because Taylor's probably paying off directors and trading in favors to get him roles, it's not the Loserboy or some random C-list mediocre nepo-chick celeb wlw that Taylor's angsting over feeling like she's abusively torturing and destroying by having them as her muse, fucking Swiffers AND Gaylors literally treat Karlie like she's worse than SB x2 and Kanye combined while Taylor's out there singing about how kind and loyal and good and honorable she thinks Karlie is.
These fucking people just don't want to accept that they're the ones out here torturing Taylor and making her feel like she can't be a goddamn human and that she has to lock the real her away and let her performer persona take over or she'll lose her career, they don't care that on Taylor's preshow playlist she's relating to a Florence + The Machine song about being tormented by a deep desire to be a mother with your partner whilst feeling the only way to have a successful music career as a woman is to be alone and miserable when instead they can pretend that Taylor is a blank space they can project their own thoughts and feelings and fantasies on to!

Okay first listen through of TTPD standard edition thoughts:
This is very sonically cohesive I think? I know some people were irritated she didn’t go in a new sound but honestly this album isn’t about the sound. It’s about the lyrics. Most of her albums find a balance of production and lyrics but I truly think that for this record more than any other the lyrics are supposed to shine. I really like it I think. We will see after a few more listens but there’s some high points and there’s some lows (tattooed golden retriever I’m looking you 🥴)
Fave 3:
Florida!!!
Down Bad
The Alchemy
Best 3:
But Daddy I Love Him
So Long, London
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
Fortnight
Functioning alcoholic?? Ma’am?? Im confused a little by the lyrics and the perspective here. Also, why are you’re so murderous Taylor?? It sounds nice though! Love Posty’s vocals in the background. This song is definitely going to be stuck in my head at random times. This would have been huge on Tumblr during 2014-2015. 7/10? I think this may be a grower for me.
The Tortured Poets Department
Okay drums! “Who uses a typewriter anyway” get his pretentious ass Taylor. Personally not loving that slip into a falsetto in “hold me” but I digress. The second verse (?) where the Puth and gold retriever line is? 🤨 “we’re crazy” a self aware queen… this is not my favorite? It’s not bad but I don’t think I will actively seek it out. 6/10
My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys
I really like this heavy dark synth in the background. I fear this is about J*e and RIP buddy. She’s the only person who could get away with “litany of reasons” in a song. Queen of Sandcastles?!?! The bridge is ruining me, girl was going through it. 8/10, I think.
Down Bad
I fear this one may let me down because I loved that stupid AI snippet that went viral on TikTok lmao. I wasn’t sure about the first verse but HOLY SHIT THIS CHORUS. “Fuck it” Ms. Swift I am scandalized (no I’m not you go queen). The gaylors are going to run wild with the “I lost my twin” bit 🙄. Love this one!! 9/10
So Long, London
Admittedly I hear a leak snippet of this one beforehand but I do love the production of this one. The intro is a bit jarring at first but it goes with the rest of the song well! Her voice sounds so fucking good here. The lyrics are ripping me apart. “All that youth for free” ouch ouch ouch ouch. This somehow sadder than Tolerate It???? Like they tried to soften the blow with the production but oh my god. 10/10
But Daddy, I Love Him
I’ve heard whisperings that there’s shade to the “SpeakUpNow” travesty that happened last May? Get them parasocial weirdos girl. Oh god yeah this is definitely in relation to Taylor Swift™️ and how people forget she’s an actual human fucking being. Honestly I love this and some of it reminds me of Fearless kind of?? But also girl is a little delulu here. Love the BRIDGE YES YES YES. big dictionary girl here. I feel like the last verse is more towards TK than matty but I could be wrong?? This is not a song I will reach for but it is really so so good. 9/10
Fresh Out the Slammer
The western twangy start? Interesting. Love her delivery and cadence here. Matty really wasn’t the only consistent guy on the roster huh? Good for you girl. Another song a little delulu but I forgive her. Another one I think the Gaylors are going to take and run with 🙄 this may be the first “filler” so far but it’s not really 7/10
Florida!!!
I’m so excited for this one personally. OH MY GOD THE CEREMONIALS INFLUENCE. FLORENCE!!!! OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD. Another hint at murder??? Oh she was PISSED. This song is going to make me get a speeding ticket. The BRIDGE!!!!!!!!!! The feeling of restlessness when you feel stuck I life and up and running to Florida, she’s just like me fr. 10/10 immaculate
Guilty as Sin?
Blue Nile? Oh this is about Matty. Loving the instrumental. This is such a “windows down cruising on the highway” song. The vibes are so good. Oh girl… you want him so bad. I love this one, it reminds me of something but I can’t put my finger on it. Also the religious references in this one? Wow. THE FINAL CHORUS?? Jack Antonoff they could never make me hate you. 9/10
Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me
This is haunting. The lyrics are so dark but her delivery is almost smug? Excellent. “Whos afraid of little old me? You should be??” Again, a self aware queen. Also for some reason I’m getting Control by Halsey vibes?? She’s never beating the witchcraft allegations, sorry. She’s slowly loosing her mind over the course of this song and oh my god. “Sue you”????? Oh girl get them. This is one where I probably won’t reach for it but it is such a good good song holy fuck 9/10. Self written and self produced too?
I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)
I don’t know why people thought this is about Matty, this to me is so clearly about Joe I think. The outlaw imagery paired with the production is so interesting. The lyric change at the end? Love it. Overall this isn’t my fave? 6/10
Loml
Oh this one is going to hurt me isn’t it. It’s so clear that she really does value marriage and wanted that with her past partners, which makes Lavender Haze so heartbreaking in retrospect. The chorus is going to make me sob so thank you Taylor. Wait wait wait, “Mr. Steal Your Girl” ma’am???? Be serious. Well this is about Joe lol. I’m so glad she seems happier now because this was written from a place of deep hurt. 8/10
I Can Do It With A Broken Heart
Holy fucking vibe change from the last song lol. The haters are going to hate this one but it is the classic ironic song that people will love to shit on without using any critical thinking skills. Thematically this is actually kind of genius because the lyrics are depressing and the rhyme is kind of elementary but slapping this beat behind it paints this picture of you know a pop star who has to go out and preform even though everything is falling apart. This stripped down would be devastating. 8/10
The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived
The inhaled breath to start oh my god we’re crying again. She’s implying he’s poor isn’t she? Oh my god. I do think this one is about Joe again? Stabbed me with my push pins??? Oh girl. Sank in stoned oblivion?? See I don’t think she’d make that comment about an addict who’s clean now but she’s given us other songs where it alludes to the fact that Joe smokes (YOYOK, paper rings, etc). She’s so angry here and it makes me so sad for her because I feel like it’s a feeling most women understand. This hurts so so so bad. 10/10.
The Alchemy
Yes lower register!! Ohhh this is a love song 🥹 also is this about TK? The team references?? I love this one. Another that I can see with windows down, cruising on a highway. Okay wait maybe Matty? That heroin line sounds like a joke he would make lol but everything else is so TK coded so idk. This scratches my brain in such a nice. 9/10
Clara Bow
This is definitely going to be in the same category of The Lucky One and Nothing New isn’t it? STEVIE NICKS SHOUTOUT OH MY GOD!!!! Oh this is bittersweet. Oh my god that last bit about TS with edge? How hard it must be to be this self aware and yet still have to sort of accept that fate. 8/10.
Okay that’s the end of the standard edition!!!

I like your latest post intricately explaining the LSK secret family theory and such even though I'm not thoroughly convinced yet, simply because in my gaylorism playbook I put lyric analysis above everything and I believe her art and her words in melodies and songs are the ones that conveys her story in it's most truthful sense before any hints shown through clothing items or merch etc (even though they are very interesting & convincing too I must say). That is how I got into gaylorism and how I could connect to her artistry and songs as a lesbian even when PR news publications and the general public all reports about her as this boy-crazy straight woman, I knew it's not true because her songs paint this unique specific experience that gay/lesbian women go through so I believe in that more rather than some staged pap walks of her with some random famous man.
Now the question is that, so many songs in evermore and midnights talk about Taylor fearing and not wanting the marriage and family model in all it's varieties, especially the system of lavender marriage itself. One song even explicitly states how she's annoyed at being pressured into it. The daughter-in-law line in anti hero feels more like a confirmation of her fear of family to me and for Peace, I saw it more as a contemplation with herself if lavender marriage/family is something that she wants (which she then answers in lavender haze, midnight rain, champagne problems, antihero, dear reader, etc).
If theres any late stage theory between Kaylor I see it more as taylor being an outsider looking in through karlie's domestic life and being on good terms/supportive to her, and I do believe they are love of each other's lives, they'll never forget each other and they'll keep referencing each other etc etc but they also recognized they wanted different things in life (Midnight Rain, I personally think this song finalizes and marks the end of any possibility of them getting back together).
All these songs in evermore and midnights painting this picture of taylor being alone and a pariah with self loathing and feeling sorry and guilty and melancholic about her old love that is doing good creates this perception in my head that when an LSK says they both are in a happy family raising a child together it felt like all those time in 2020-2021 when toes/hetlors were trying to convince everyone taylor is in a stable happy longlasting relationship while in contrast she writes 2 albums about a disastrous falling out and a damn near divorce.
However, I do try to keep an open mind and there are some songs in midnights that could point towards the secret family theory of LSK, such as the great war, bigger than the whole sky, sweet nothing, labyrinth and glitch but idk. The sadder songs about her being alone and rejecting the family model, being a pariah, etc feels more real to me. I guess if ts11 is coming I'll know for sure when it drops. P.S: I do think that random "mom! " voice over in Dear Reader is sus as hell. Perhaps the one thing I cant get my mind off.
Oh and also if we get into any kind of LSK stuff, what are your thoughts about the two of them coming out, either alone or together? We all know 2019 taylor wanted to come out, some say karlie was also in the picture but there was lack of evidence for it I think? In Midnight Rain it says that K wanted it "comfortable", which explains marrying her beard of 7 years while T is the opposite of that, to which I believe that she'll keep dropping hairpins untill the time comes where she'll do some grand dramatic thing, maybe in the long future. I just wanna your thoughts if T or K ever decides to come out, how will it all unfold?
Hi!
Thank you for your questiond!!
I see what you are saying.
And you are not the only one. The songs are a big part of why people question LSK.
Since it's a really long and complicated answer. I already wrote a post about it here: (X)
This post about my reflexion on why I still believe in Kaylor and my thoughts about them having a family off of the public eye might help as well (X)
I don't believe that Taylor was gonna come out with Karlie in 2019. Whatever happened there seem to have had a change of plan made toward May to exclude Karlie of this.
I don't believe that this was either Karlie's or Taylor's choice.
So in 2019 when she was to come out, I believe she would have come out as bi with Joe by her side.
As for now.
Tree seems to be working really hard toward the reconcialliciation narrative.
Especially since Karlie went to the Eras Tour.
So I believe there is chances that if Taylor comes out. She does so with Karlie by her side.
Hope this answers your questions!
Don't hesitate if you have any other!

hi luvs! how are you?? i hope everything’s great 😊 i’m not fully back yet bc i’m on vacation atm, just came to save a long queue to keep my blog active bc it’s pretty much dead. so i’m gonna put all the boring details bellow in case you wonder about the future content of this blog and my general thoughts (if you’re up to read, follow the cut!) please drink water, protect yourselves from this insane weather and take care!! see you all soon 💜
okay so. i’m obviously still disappointed on taylor, but after everything i’ve realised it’s not worth it anymore. i’m still a fan and i cannot deny that. altho it’s true that i’ve distanced myself from her, she is and will always be a big part of my life! and i’d be lying if i said i’m not excited for 1989, bc i bloody am!! it’s one of my fave albums of all time and i really don’t have the strength anymore to let anything else ruin that for me (unless there’s a mh collab on it, then i’ll explode lmao) but the truth is that i’m just an art consumer as we all are, and she is pure art. so i’ll just keep doing my thing while she does hers. end!
that doesn’t mean i’ve erased everything from my brain or that it won’t upset me if she messes up again. but i’m choosing to stay away from drama, not just hers but fandom drama in general. the past year has been a roller coaster of emotions and i’m just tired of it. and the funny thing is that it doesn’t really matter! it doesn’t matter AT ALL. its only point is to make me bitter and out of patience, and i’m just another random person with random thoughts that won’t have any impact on her or anybody, whether i’m right or wrong, so!
in conclusion: i’m a swiftie who is not a swiftie who is a swiftie who is not part of the fandom who is a gaylor who is not an unhinged gaylor who is no one at all. hope this helps!
which brings us to the point: stfu sarah what are we going to see here. ofc taylor, but! i’m not gonna stress anymore over not missing a single post. i’ll just vibe with it and save whatever’s relevant to me from now on (i’ve saved a lot already) which are mostly graphics, fanart, lyrics and tagged posts (you can keep tagging me on everything btw, and thanks again to the few who still do lols love ya!!!) but the main content can be found on the celeb blog i run with my bestie (candyshapes), which not only focuses on taylor but she’s like 70% of it, and where my dear @jdschecter has made sure not to miss any details of the tour (thanks ems, i’d be lost without you <3) so i really recommend you follow us there !! the rest, as usual, will be a multifandom blog with special dedication to taylor and GoT.
that’s all ! if you’ve read everything, thank you SO much. i know it wasn’t necessary, but i wanted to clear that up nevertheless. first, bc i’m pretty true to my opinions and i’ve spent a great deal of time trying to figure this out. and second, bc i’ve lost many of you in the process and that’s understandable. but if i’m going to be back, i need to make sure i enjoy it here and curate my experience once and for all, as you all should! also thanks again to all the people that has understood my situation and showed me support in the past. love you and miss you to bits, mwah!!

Gaylor thought of the day
The wildest thing about Gaylor 'theory' and the hate it gets from the wider fandom is this: Taylor has always been the ultimate hopeless romantic. She's the girl that has written songs about fairytales and happily ever after since day 1. She has said countless times in interviews that she would rather wait for true love than have a string of random boyfriends. And yet, a vast majority of her fans would rather believe a story that somehow involved three overlapping boyfriends in 2016, than to even entertain the possibility that she was in a stable, long-term relationship with one person, and that person be a woman...

Are you RPF positive? How do you feel about ships like Gaylor or Phan or Larry? Phan actually turned out to be true LOL
short answer its funny and harmless long answer below the cut tldr its funny and feel free to be cringe but also everyone has a line they draw in the sand and even if you think you dont, you do. and me personally my line is further than others, nearer than some. if the rpf is fanfic where harry styles bottoms for louis tomlinson thats mostly just teenagers being silly and harmlessly cringe and if the rpf is AI deepfake of them its bad. also sometimes the rpf is real. and also phan is a can of worms im not touching with a ten foot pole. again long answer below the cut ^_^ rambling
ok so celebrities in general i roll my eyes at the thought of caring about them. everyone is just a regular human being who is kind of stupid and lame. everyone has positives and negatives etc. so to me when i see someone act parasocial about some youtuber/singer/actor etc im like thats just a guy. so already rpf is simply not for me.
secondly i think it is mostly harmless. if you are writing gay porn about frank iero and gerard way well that is between you and god and the ao3 staff. gets cringe and weird if you go up to jensen ackles at a con and say heh so which of you is the seme 😏 that is a socially insane thing to do sorry
thirdly it is super funny. gaylor is hilarious to me its like a bunch of generally progressive young girls who feel the need to morally justify why its okay to like taylor swift. Oh she dates weird men oh she has a bad carbon footprint Well actually she is a queer woman oppressed by her management and her conservative family. thats hilarious to me i love how there is no one on earth who isnt a little conspiratorily minded. tbc im not gaylorphobic i have gaylor friends.
fourthly i have seen the moral depravity of man. you can find genuinely deeply morally and ethically disgusting content about real life minors. 'its fiction its just writing they wont see it' grow up go talk to a therapist. AI deep fake porn is disgusting. its weird and socially inept to bother actual human beings about your kink. again fine to have that kink but dont go asking random people if theyre secretly in love with their friend.
hmmm fifthly and lastly i think often people just dont have a holistic view of the world they dont understand cultural/social context. there is a social barrier between you the audience and the people on your screen. also when you get into fandoms like kpop, you need to understand that its a product. these arent authentic human beings they are products they are actors they are selling you an idea. its yaoi in a way! its playing on homosocial/homoerotic tropes that female fans tend to enjoy. im sorry but seokjin and taehyung arent secretly boning they are coworkers. sorry.
that being said i think ben affleck IS in love with matt damon and i think theyve jerked off together or had sex by proxy via threesome. nothing will change my mind on this.

give us your thoughts on the nyt article!! my thoughts is i was surprised by how much it read like any lazy conspiracy theory, ike they didnt even make an effort to lol. just thre a bunch of half-baked gaylor ideas at an unsuspecting audience. "Maroon is gay!!" "why?" "cause it is!!" that kind of stuff.
Makes me more sad for the erosion of journalism than anything Taylor specific tbh
first of all, i do have to say that the last quarter of this article (which is quite lengthy) is what i enjoy reading and discussing the most. this part in particular:
"I know that discussing the potential of a star’s queerness before a formal declaration of identity feels, to some, too salacious and gossip-fueled to be worthy of discussion. [...] I share many of these reservations. But the stories that dominate our collective imagination shape what our culture permits artists and their audiences to say and be. Every time an artist signals queerness and that transmission falls on deaf ears, that signal dies. Recognizing the possibility of queerness — while being conscious of the difference between possibility and certainty — keeps that signal alive."
however, i agree that every big "well-researched" article about gaylor reads this way - i feel like editors just see the length and the amount of links and see that it has appeal to people (helpful for clicks)... but i also wonder if some editors lack the internet finesse to appreciate that some of these ideas are just random theories. like, some of this is based on textual analysis, which is great and what art is for... but some of it, like the "easter egg" defense, isn't actually researched. saying hits different or INTHAF only fit if they're about women? and then it's just dropped in without a single defense or explanation?? it's so weird.

I wish I could be a cool Tumblr person and make fun gifs and stuff, but I’m going to ride on everyone else’s coattails, and kind of absent minded-ly write my thoughts.
The grip that toxic ass monogamy and the relationship escalator have on the heteronormative society is actually soul crushing. Every relationship, in society’s eyes HAS to end with marriage and kids, and it has to “ride an escalator” to the end point. You know, meet each other, date, get seen in public, social media bullshit and shit posting, ohhhs and ahhhs from friends, move in together, get engaged, get married, have kids, and Tada! Life is grand.
There is so much wrong with that line of thinking.
I admire Taylor Swift. She is an entertainer, a wonderful businesswoman, and an amazing lyricist. The same woman who wrote “Lavender Haze”, I can infer, is not going to publicly ride the relationship escalator. I had to leave social media for a bit today because of the sheer amount of talk about “an endgame”. Ew. Let the woman live.
As a non-monogamous Queer she/they human, I see Taylor’s lyrics with a Queer lens. I guess that makes me a Gaylor? I dont know? A Queerlor? All the terms are new to me. Im not a straight, white, ultra conservative Swiftie who things her and her latest boytoy (that she bought with a price) are the endgame, and Id rather focus on her art and messages that she is telling us.
All of the hiding, the foxes and the hunters, the “I loved you in secret”, the “Hiding in plain sight”. What straight relationship ever has to hide this much? Why is Taylor literally dragging around a male counterpart with flashbulbs popping in her face? I don’t understand? Why can’t fans appreciate her 6 Grammy nominations and not her latest installment of the xy chromosome.
Im not exonerating Gaylors. They are too into the ships as well! She played that for Karlie! Kaylor endgame! BYE! Thats about Diana, Swiftgron forever! Like, damn yall.
Im sorry, Taylor, that people cannot listen to a song like “Labyrinth”, and listen to the chord progressions and your literal insane vocal range. Nobody picked up that you wore the NYU sweatshirt where you referenced the song in your speech. People magazine boasted that was about Taylor was falling In love with Travis, and Kaylor /Gaylor twitter were screaming how she and Karlie were endgame. As a member of this fandom, its so embarrassing.
Anyways , on the off chance that you see this, Taylor. Congratulations on your Grammy nominations. This random fan on the internet is proud of your accomplishments, and I promise to never distill your music or art to your plausible or probable partners 😭😭😭.
Late night musing for the win

Tumblr media
So I have thoughts about this...
First of all I am now aware that someone posted an article to the New York Times speculating about Taylor's sexual identity which in my books is a no no on the basis of how publicly it was done. I think speculating about someone's sexuality is normal, as you would for a friend or someone you saw on the train, it's normal to dream or wonder, but to do so on a public forum like a famous publication crosses huge boundaries. Keep your though to a blog is what I always think. (Another reason why we should all have a Tumblr lol)
But I also have a problem with how that person (and how many people online) frame the argument. Like the first part of their claim is that there's a trend that Gaylors don't support other queer stuff. How can they know that's true? All that they're seeing of Gaylors is for example a specific account where they only post about Taylor. Internet is an escapism for many people and what they post to whatever account doesn't fully exemplify how they live their life.
I suppose as someone who actively speculates about real people's sexuality, I find it offensive to assume that the thing that is talked about the loudest is the only thing the person cares about?
Like yeah I won't shut up about definitely straight DJs being potentially bi because you never know what happens in someone else's life, but I'm also listening to queer musicians not even because I want to actively look for queer musicians but because I enjoy music that happens to be made by queer people. I just don't talk about the queer musicians that much I guess because it satisfies a need already? Whereas the unconfirmed stuff is exciting to speculate about. Artists that I like such as ARCA, Sofia kourtesis, porridge radio, PVA, Sufjan etc etc the list goes on, are queer and I'll throw my money at them for gigs or vinyl or whatever. But I'm not loud about it because they're confirmed queer I guess. Like there's nothing to guess, they're open about who they are.
Like when those people who say, Gaylors should invest more time in actual queer musicians, what that sounds like to me is the speculation should be redirected to already out queer people??? The clap back doesn't sound as good when you actually think about what they're asking.
I think the conversation absolutely needs to be, ok you're speculating but let's not do that in a way that the subject person can see. Like let's do that in an appropriate space. Let's not harass the person you're theorising about, let's keep those thoughts to a closed forum or hushed whispers between friends. Publishing an op-ed about someone's sexuality in the nyt or literally any publication is hugely boundary crossing. Agreed 100%.
But do you want that energy to be directed to someone else? An out queer person already going through their own shit? No. Asking if someone is queer, demanding them to come out, writing speculation on news articles - those sorts of things Should Not Be Happening. The people who do it need to tone it down and use safe spaces that already exist to have these discussions.
I guess the argument op is trying to say is actually queer people need to be supported and I get that, and I do DO that. And I think it's odd to assume that people don't just because they don't talk about it??
But even if it is true that there are people out there who exclusively listen to Taylor Swift, just accusing them and telling them they should be more moral about the consumption of music isn't going to influence people 100% to try new stuff. It should really be about redirecting how they talk about what they're theorising. And I fully acknowledge that the barrier between some random being able to talk to a celebrity breaking down in the way social media works these days has been such an impediment for people to realise, hey maybe the way I'm perceiving this is not true, but it's still fun so I'm going to do it in a way that won't harm the person. Like can't that behaviour change be the discussion.
In some respects it leans into why some rally so hard against ao3 allowing anything and everything. Like there's a safe space to speculate and explore sexual identity that isn't harming anyone. It's a dedicated space for weird thought and when people say you shouldn't listen to Taylor Swift if you want her to be a lesbian and think that's participating in queer culture to a """valid""" extent it's so so adjacent to people who say rpf shouldn't exist.
I guess I sympathise with gaylors in a way because I'm an rpf shipper, I'm not a Gaylor shipper and I never will be, but I understand where they are coming from with their passion and I understand why they're like that too, what motivates them to wish and pine and the validation that they yearn for. It's just they're in this unfathomable era where because Taylor is so famous and has a ridiculous number of fans, people feel confident in numbers to say what they think in a way that would normally be frowned upon. And the crowd mentality takes on and propels this theorising vehicle to the source because people Can Do That Now through social media.
Like I guess I look at what I do, theorising about randoms and bands nobody has heard of, and how I could easily be conflated with the behaviour of a Gaylor. The difference is the fanbase consists of just me and not 200,000 other Gaylors on X FKA twitter. And that's what I was trying to get at with my initial post about Gaylors. Because given it's often just me saying these insane things, first of all nobody else is listening. Second of all I have common sense and I'm not taking that to the person I'm theorising about. Like you just don't do that. And yet the Gaylors are going too far. They are crossing lines that fandom Olds know is not okay and THAT is what we should be talking about, not whether or not it's "valid" for them to think Taylor might actually like women.
Anyway I guess I resent the idea that this argument the person is having in the original screen cap could easily be translated to any other shipping thing and it's dangerous to think it couldn't. Like I get their point that people who listen to pop and think they're part of the queer community because they ship a girl who has been saying she's straight for 10 years is problematic but I don't think you can ignore the behaviour that lead to this. Redirecting someone's interest is not super easy, a lot of people might not even like other music that they're suggested to look at that is queer or not queer even. Like some people only listen to specific things and that's who they are.
But also I think the suggestion to listen to music made by actually queer people could be better received if the way we listen to music is assessed better. Like are the people only listening to Taylor Swift day in day out, what would get them to listen to other music? Promotion of other music by t swift herself? Easier access to and promotion of online radio stations playing local music, less reliance on Spotify, and so on. Like why people aren't listening to other queer musicians surely isn't because they're so obsessed with Taylor being gay. There must be other things influencing their listening habits. I guess I don't see the point of saying hey you there you listen to too much Taylor Swift go listen to this musician who is queer and you should like them because it's moral to do so. Like at least suggest someone who makes similar music? Idk maybe that's done for Gaylors, I'm not in the scene so I don't know if they're coddled or if even any of this stuff has been brought up a hundred times before. I'm just skeptical of the blanket statement 'just listen to actually queer music' because I don't think it's as simple as that. It's just really dismissive and reductive.

Rant about this Gaylor stuff
Hetlors coming onto gaylors at any given chances for their "dirty thoughts", "unrespectful behavior" and so on and so forth because "taylor swift is straight" and "to stop assuming her sexuality"; first of all "who cares" like if you don't agree with what someone think go on on your day, block them, block the topic. I'm seing too many of you going after gaylors, posting your opinions under their posts or tags. Every is free to have an opinion, everyone is free to express it. You don’t agree and you know you will never agree with it, then you leave and don’t interact with the people/subject. You all are like little soldiers coming to defend her straightness (which I may say is a bit hypocritical, because as far as I know saying she is straight is also assuming her sexuality, but I guess her being queer is such an horrible and far reaching thought that it must be taken down quickly). I need you to stop a moment, look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself what does it bring to your life to defend TS sexuality like that. To go off after people like that. Are you getting pay or something? Everyone (gaylors and hetlors) is just making speculations (based on facts, hints, etc...), but at the end of the day YOU don't know s*, I don't know shit, NOBODY knows what she identifies as except HERSELF and the people she trusts with this information.
Some people have superiority complex because they are hetlors or because they got a/multiples notice from TS herself or TN, well you're not her friend, you are just a fan and at the end of the day, you just know what she wants you to believe. She is a celebrity but she is also a human. She has an public image and the person she is in her personal life. Just because you can get a glimpse of the latter, that doesn't mean that YOU KNOW HER
Going back on assuming someone sexuality. Truth is that it might be not morally okay to do it, but you do it anyway consciously or not. Not to get into cliché but you see a guy with long painted nails, make up and idk heels, you think (even for 1 second) "oh he's gay". You assumed his sexuality. Maybe you're right, maybe not. Queer people tend to "recognise" themselves through signs or references. There are wordings, imagery, and many stuffs used in the queer community. So when someone tells you "well you know as queer I do recognise or I relate to some of TS actions or lyrics, so maybe she is queer too" and you first reaction is to insult, dox, or tell the person to k word, you are a disgusting human (I'm staying polite). If there are queer people upset about YNTCD video and if lesbians are upset about her using the term lavender (which is FACTUALLY a historical lesbian term, you can put it in any way you want but it is what it is) well they have the right to be upset about the fact that a *publicly* straight cisgender rich white woman is using/appropriating/hetwashing queer/lesbian things
Also did some of you ever study? Because I'm sorry but if you take her discography and you study her lyrics in depth, it can be interpretated as pretty queercoded whether you like it or not. As someone who is having some LGBTQ (and I can go as far a feminism) classes, it sometimes does feel like these women writers/ poets/ or even random people back in these old century who through hidden messages were expressing their sexuality and whose messages are now analysed as queercoded. It is also a fact.
I won't go into what I think TS should or shouldn't do. It is not my life. I don't know her. I don't know her situation and it is HER life. I couldn't care less if she is straight (althought I will admit that I would feel a bit upset) or if she is straight (even if I will admit that a celebrity of her status coming out would be huge). It is not something that keeps me up at night. What I think is MY opinion, I know at the end of the day that I know NOTHING.
Side note: even if we are in 2022, the entertainment industry is still an industry. Practices like closeting, PR relationships, lavender marriage are still actual. It is not because the LGBTQ+ community seems more accepted than before that it actually is. Practice are still used to keep some things hidden from the public. So if (big if) TS is queer and in the closet maybe it is because of the industry, maybe it is because she doesn't want to be out. Who knows.
I will finish by saying that I believe that Taylor Swift has really mastered the art of keeping both her straight and queer side of the fandom active. Enough references and lyrics to satisfy the hetlors while keeping the queer speculations alive.

Kinda unrelated but I thought of asking you about it because this memory suddenly unlocked in my mind in the most random way and I got super curious...
At the very beginning of the Joe/Taylor dating rumors I remember reading on a blog on here (I don't even know if it still exist, I forgot the URL) that people who grew up in the same neighborhood as Joe or maybe lived near Joe in London or whatever were saying that they knew for sure that Joe was not interested in women at all, and I got curious if you ever heard of this rumor or any rumor of this kind.
I don't necessarily believe this is true and I don't remember much else about it anyway, I guess this memory might have resurfaced 'cause I was reading a post mentioning them and I realized that for some reason my brain never considered their relationship as a real one and asked myself, “but where did I get that?” and it all came back (I was a teenager at the time and a pretty suggestible one, I would say)
I personally haven’t heard anything like this! it might be a creation of gaylors trying to “prove” that Joe was gay and therefore taylor could be too because then they weren’t actually dating.
