Just realised
“The story isn’t mine anymore”
Because she’s ending the story of Taylor Swift ™️ and telling her own story. Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version) if you will 😉
Rep tv/karma will burn the house down and TS Taylor’s version will be the start of her new self.

I have thoughts on this, especially given that the lyric video is also styled as a movie script. Will post some thoughts later.
just realized that in The Manuscript she uses the pronoun "she" throughout the entire song until the end where she says "now and then i reread the manuscript" because she's literally READING THE MANUSCRIPT TO US

I am dusting off my little blog here because TTPD has my mind absolutely reeling. I am really wondering if anyone else listened to this and had this feeling that the album confirmed everything that they were thinking was going on with her. I know we talk so much about reading her songs beneath the surface of muses or certain details used to craft a story, but to me, TTPD reads so strongly of her reckoning with her life in the industry. like, it's so much more than the relationships. it's the comp het, it's the religious trauma, it's the being exploited as a child star, it's deep wound of abandonment and neglect when she as a person got split off from her brand and both could not thrive, it's giving everything to this brand and career and fandom and that still never being enough. it's her codependency with the very people that exploit her. it's the fact that she is bigger than she ever imagined and none of it feels how she wanted. it's the simultaneous love and resentment she has towards her family, and relationships, and career, and yes, even her fans.
the rawness of this album, the unrefined feel, the summation poem talking about this as mania, the continuation of the cage imagery and themes of escaping to her mind/fantasy, the coping with criticism, numbing it all with alcohol, the willingness to burn it all down and disgrace her name because none of this is what she wants or at least not how she wants.
I have seen so many criticisms of the album and honestly, I understand where they are coming from, but I also think the things they criticize make the exact point of what this body of work is - something that exists for it's own sake to turn things back on the people that made her into what she is now. art created not to be acclaimed but because it demands to be expressed. it is an exorcism, an expulsion. it is something that erupted from her. and it's so meta because this fandom and the industry are voyeurs in an echo chamber so desperate to see what they want that they miss that this is about them. that is what makes it brilliant to me - it is self-indulgent and metaphorical, and complex, and so direct, but yet still masked just enough that people miss it. her entire life has become performance art. it is a play within a play. and I fear the audience has not caught on.
it feels like she is reclaiming it all. I feel like this could either be a hint at a new beginning or a signal that she has broken and this is the end. this felt like the tell-all memoir written in code that everyone else will finally understand when she really leaves this spotlight. it's the lucky one come to life. she is daydreaming about fucking it all and leaving this life behind so she can finally have some goddamn peace.
I love this album for it as art. it is so expressive. it is so heartbreaking. it's messy and nuanced, and I think it is going way the fuck over most people's heads, especially when you really dig into poetry being the theme and the specific works she references. it's only been a week and I am just starting to really dig in but talk about a fucking iceberg.

“A rose by any other name is a scandal”
Rose= flower of love. But when it’s two women kissing it can’t possibly be love, it’s just a scandal for the tabloids. Still makes me livid 10 years later 😡
no one can convince me this isn't about karlie/kissgate
Tumblr media
and then the "you don't get to tell me you feel bad" is so fucking heart wrenching

But anon, imagine (if your empathy can stretch that far) being a traumatised queer woman having to hide a whole family, and all the majority of your so-called fans see you as is a privileged straight woman who complains a lot for someone who has no obvious reason to and who deserves a boyfriend with anger issues.
She just released an album of 31 tracks full of suffering, pain and anger and for what reason, because she was mad that someone called her a snake once and pointed a finger because she dated a problematic man? Honestly, if you think she’s straight, you must think she’s such a thin-skinned petty bitch. She’s a tough kid, she said it herself, it takes more than some internet trolls or a breakup to break her. Like, maybe, two decades worth of religious trauma, forced closeting, gaslighting, a sexual assault trial and then some. Believe us, that nobody here wants that for her, but listening to someone and acknowledging their suffering might just be a better way to show empathy than to assume they’re just a bit wingey about breakups.
Gaylors would truly rather Taylor be a traumatized queer woman who has to hide a whole family, than her be a woman who fell in love with a man you consider is beneath her, or any man at all for that matter.
We’re just going by her own lyrics and what she presents to her fans on a silver platter for her public image, pal. They do not match up. At all.

On the subject of rings, has anybody had thoughts on why Post Malone’s character in the fortnight mv sometimes wears a wedding ring and sometimes not?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When they’re working in the TPD and when he’s in his glass phone box he’s wearing the ring but not in the shot where he’s dressed the same as Taylor in the paper storm. Notably he also doesn’t have his tattoos in that scene. Thoughts?
(I haven’t really decided if I think he’s meant to represent the muse or Taylor’s own male POV).
I mean… 😏

There's also noticeably so many references to wedding rings and talks of children (imaginary rings/at dinner you take my ring off my middle finger.../talking rings and talking cradles/no, you can't come to the wedding), like, Taylor, honey, you go and torch that dolls house and put a big fat ring on your finger and show your gorgeous wife off to the world, you deserve it. Fuck the wine moms.
there are so many songs about the failed coming out(s) and she’s so feral pissed and like girl so glad you wrote this and got it out I love you so much do you want a hug

A Wrinkle in Time - The Story of Us and the Met Gala 2024
I don't want to raise any undue kaylor hopes but I have to dump my observations here, so enter at your own risk 😉
Since Midnights Taylor has told us that the love blackout is a glitch, or a wrinkle in time, something that interrupted the intended state of being, but will eventually end.
Glitch - The system's breaking down Midnight Rain - So I peered through a window A deep portal, time travel All the love we unravel And the life I gave away Hits Different - A wrinkle in time, like the crease by your eyes
Side note: 'A Wrinkle in Time' is actually a book by Madeleine L'Engle and it's a science fiction story about a girl who gets sucked into an alternate universe run by an evil entity called IT that forces people into conformity (heteronormativity much...?). She eventually triumphs over the evil by facing her own fears and insecurities and becomes the hero in a 'love beats all evil' kind of way. 👀
Now that we have TTPD there is an even stronger narrative of coming home to the person who's been waiting for you all this time (I'm still in shock about that tbh).
MBOBHFT - Just say when, I'd play again FOTS - Now, pretty baby, I'm runnin' back home to you, To the house where you still wait up and that porch light gleams To the one who says I'm the girl of his American dreams The Alchemy - But I'm coming back so strong, So when I touch down, call the amateurs and cut 'em from the team Ditch the clowns, get the crown, baby, I'm the one to beat
And in addition, in The Albatross the villain (Anti-Hero?) eventually becomes the hero, much like the heroine in A Wrinkle in Time:
She's the albatross She is here to destroy you -> Spread my wings like a parachute I'm the albatross I swept in at the rescue The devil that you know Looks now more like an angel
So, it might be foolish, but I'm tentatively optimistic that a Kaylor revival is on the cards. And our Anti-Hero seems to be preparing for her act of heroism.
This is where the guesswork starts so leave now if you're not up for a bit of clowning 🤡 Ok, so I noticed this today:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In So High School, Taylor places her bearding show with 🏈 at a time 'at the brink of a wrinkle in time'. At the brink means the wrinkle in time is imminent. Are we about to time travel back to when the glitch began in 2016? And have we not already said that Taylor's recent overexposure, Bahamas trip and Coachella are all very 2016-coded? And do you remember what else she last attended in 2016? Oh yes, the Met Gala. Which brings us to....The Garden of Time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The theme of the 2024 Met Gala is 'The Garden of Time', based on a short story by JG Ballard. I've put a summary above, but basically, it's about a man who can reverse time by cutting flowers from his garden, each time buying him and his wife a bit more time in their little paradise before they eventually pack up all their treasures and brace the invasion. Firstly, that really reminds me of the🎃 7th message that's about picking daisies and dandelions in the garden of the house that is their safe haven behind the tall fence. But you can't keep a paradise hidden forever, every move to keep away the invasion also takes a sacrifice from the beauty of the garden itself.
Secondly, this year also just so happens to be 13 years since Taylor and Karlie first met at the 2011 Met Gala (yes, they'd been introduced before then but that's the first time we know they spoke and started their in joke about 'baking cookies together'). So...13 years of the story of us, so to speak. And the Story of Us came out as a single on April 19th 2011 and was recently referenced in both the Fortnight music video and the Spotify pop-up library in LA.
So.....is it time to tell the story of us 13 years later?
