I genuinely think it is a rite of passage for a Pokemon fan to champion a Pokemon that is unpopular, uncool, or 'weak'.

For some, it comes quickly. A child sees Gulpin and thinks it's the funniest thing ever. For some, it's trying something new. The competitive battler who just starts messing around, picks up a Pachirisu, and leads it to victory against impossible stakes. For some, it's an accident. The Nuzlocker who got way too attached to an early game friend who refused to die, and grieved for their friend and comrade when their time came. For some, it's defiance. The person who kinda likes Raichu and will defend it from the slings and arrows of all others. For some, it's just comfortably growing up and realising you don't have to justify liking something, just that it makes you happy.

It's easy to be drawn to the crowd favourites. And why not? They can be powerful fighters, cute merch, fanart-bait, they have a je ne sais quoi that draws the eye. And that's still fine! I'm not going to tell anyone they're a bad person for liking Charizard, or Mewtwo, or Gengar, or Pikachu. They're popular for a reason. But there is a kind of zen, a state of enlightenment of sorts, in finding a funky little guy who isn't very good and isn't very popular but makes you smile, and you go out of your way to find them and raise them and maybe even never evolve them, despite them being a damp squib in actual battles.

One of my favourite Pokemon ever is Swinub. Swinub is not a strong Pokemon. In fact, statistically, it's one of the weakest. Swinub has 5 weaknesses, including all 3 starter types. It doesn't learn many coverage moves, and it's abilities are not very exciting either. But I love this little piglet. It's round and soft! It digs up hot springs with its nose! You never see its eyes! I just think it's neat.

It's an important thing, I think, to find a Pokemon you like just for you. Not because it makes you better than 'the normies', but because it makes you appreciate the Pokemon you do meet, not for their battling prowess, but for how much you just want to be around them. When I see @good-pokemon-center-reviews frankly doing the lord's work in sharing people who are just so happy to have their little guys, I see starry-eyed children relishing in the wonder the Pokemon world is meant to bring. Genuine, earnest joy at a plushy Croagunk will always be more real to me that any Smogon tier chart. That guy gets it. The guy being a dick on Pokemon showdown with a team of 5 Zacians and a Mega Rayquaza for spice does not.

Seungcheol

our leader but also the biggest baby girl. retired champion and uses the same team from his youth to this day. He’ll randomly show up places like some old man, talk about the good old days, and wait for someone to challenge him. The only person whose managed to best him is Jeonghan and his damn clefairy

team: charizard, dragonair, bronzong, spiritomb, lapras, aerodactyl

Jeonghan

If you’re in the woods alone, Jeonghan will approach and ask for help while his pokemon pickpocket you. He likes the cute pokemon and has maxed them all out so he can scam people into battles and oneshot their entire team. Word on the street is his jigglypuff is wanted in multiple countries for tax evasion

team: tinkaton, jigglypuff, espeon, tandemaus, mime jr., clefairy

Joshua

Gym leader and one of the first gyms you encounter. Copied the elite four in the sense that once you enter his gym you can’t leave unless you defeat everyone. Bug types are weak so he makes up for it by being a lunatic. Likes bug pokemon bc they freak people out. He’s more interested in people’s reaction to his team than winning but that doesn’t mean he’ll let up

team: vespiquen, drapion, gardevoir, dustox, parasect, galvantula

Jun

Cats and cat adjacent. He’s literally just some guy that hangs around town and feeds the stray cats in hopes they’ll follow him home. So fars hes be successful. likes to have a staring contest with espurr that usual ends with them both falling asleep with their eyes open.

team: espurr, litten, purugly, glaceon, liepard, delcatty

Hoshi

Gym leader and electric type enthusiast. Arcanine is the exception bc tiger is life. You hear him before you see him and if you do see him it’s probably because he's flying thirty feet in the air from a well timed thunderbolt courtesy of his Jolteon he can’t help but pet when thinking. one of the best gym leaders, also defeated the elite four but by then cheol was champion and hoshi learned a valuable lesson on why you shouldn't brag about winning with a one type team

team: luxray, jolteon, arcanine, electivire, zebstrika, emolga

Wonwoo

All of his pokemon are from when he was an edgy teen and thought they made him look more intimidating because he wanted to be a gym leader. He’s mellowed out now and mostly battles for fun. A lot people think he’s scary but then he opens his mouth and goes on a 45 minute spiel about his absol’s favorite bedtime story and why hydreigon is simply misunderstood

team: hydreigon, absol, garchomp, mismagius, banette, lucario

Woozi

Works out with his team so it's survival of the fittest. People think he’s intimidating because he is but actually very chill. Constantly asked why he doesn’t become a gym leader and the answer is always the same: he doesn’t w4ant to. He is content to sit back and watch Hoshi act like a psycho. Doesn’t really battle much but when he does his opponent is in for a world of hurt.

Seokmin

Every pokemon he has starts with “well its actually a funny story…” dodrio just started following him home and seokmin was too scared to tell it to leave, same with lickilicky… and marill… and pikachu. But they’re basically a captive audience for his shenanigans and he sometimes will busk with chatot and makes a good amount of money

team: meganium, lickilicky, chatot, dodrio, marill, pikachu

Mingyu

Aims for balance. Very bro with his pokemon except Cleffa who is carried around in one of those child wraps. Not on the journey to become champion, more so just wants to see the world with his besties. You can find him sleeping in a cuddle puddle with his team after sitting around the fire and eating too many marshmallows.

team: raichu, empoleon, emboar, tauros, cleffa, steelix

Minghao

Appreciates the beauty of pokemon, especially ghost/dark/fairy. they fit his aesthetic. Has a few randoms to throw people off. You can find him sitting in a field under a full moon while they all meditate or just standing in a cave marveling at the nature (right before he sends you hightailing the way you came)

team: toxicroak, gengar, musharna, murkrow, houndoom, drifblim

Seungkwan

My island boy… also a jock. Not a gym leader but a notoriously difficult trainer you meet later on the beach. His team is as sassy as he is and has no issue KO’ing everyone, including you. Hope you know how to swim!

team: blastoise, lopunny, ambipom, azumarill, milotic, blaziken

Vernon

Average Mr. Chwe. Sometimes he’ll compete in tournaments if he’s bored or one of his friend’s drags him around. His team gets odd looks given he picked a few because they make him laugh but ngl they love him and are shockingly good in battle.

team: sudowoodo, slugma, squirtle, munchlax, mr. rime, combusken

Chan

Living his ash ketchum fantasy. Next champion but Seungcheol keeps threatening to come out of retirement just to fuck with him. Josh sought him out just to KO his team before he even reached the first gym town. Hoshi found him on a random beach and let him win just so when he got to his gym Hoshi could destroy his team several times before Chan managed to land a single attack.

What's the best and worst gender difference pokemon for you?

Assuming you mean the minor ones that aren't completely different forms?

I really like Butterfree's. It's very easily to see and notice, and it adds a nice little twist on the usual markings (it's also accurate to some IRL species of butterfly). Vileplum is another good example of this.

(I also like Hypno, which doesn't have a marking change but instead has the females sporting a longer mane. Most female versions are just the males with less of something, so I appreciate any variations where the female has more.)

And my least favorite has to be Pikachu. I really dislike gender differences wherein they insist on giving the females "girly" attributes like heart shapes (Heracross is another really bad instance of this). But Pikachu is particularly noticeable because the entire point is that its tail looks like a lightning bolt, so the female having a heart shape wedged in there ruins the entire point of the design?? Also it's not even consistent, as Raichu is thankfully spared from the heart (though it does get its tail tip cut off in a way that makes it look like a rendering error).

The Heartslabyul Fire/Grass Gym! Part of my brainrotting twst!pokemon gym au; more details/explanations under the cut

My idea for this gym is that upon entering the gym Yuu is accosted by ace and deuce (mostly ace lol) as they need help to paint the roses in time for the unbirthday party! Basically poor Yuu will have to do a mini quest for each of the heartslabyul boys (except riddle)

Ace and Deuce have Yuu catch a Smeargle and a Grafaiai to help paint the roses red

Cater (forces) Yuu to help find the sinistea and polteagheists hidden around town

Trey asks Yuu to go with him to get some berries in a forest to the side of the town (think the pair ups from pkm diamond/pearl)

After all those quests, the unbirthday party is in full swing! Yuu has the option to battle each of the boys (like in the battle restaurants from X and Y) or they can go straight to Riddle to get the badge!

Afterwards, Ace and Deuce pop up from time to time to battle the player like a rival would, except its more like they harass poor Yuu into fighting them so they can see how strong Yuu has gotten

After the badge, Riddle asks the player to catch the 5 Sandslashes that ran into the forest (not a mandatory quest) and after giving him the Sandslashes, the player recieves Alolan Sandshrew as a reward!

Now for an explanation of the boys teams!

Each boy has a fire type, a grass type, and an ace because it makes things more interesting

Gym leaders have an extra pokemon because I said so… also ignore stats I picked each mon based on vibes alone

I wanted Ace and Deuce to have a sort of mirrored team, with Ace having exclusively special attackers and Deuce having physical attackers

Ace has Mismagius mainly because of how it sounds like mischief; Ace would defo prank Deuce using Mismagius

Deuce has Scizor because it reminds me of a motorcycle! He takes Scizor to get decals every so often to bond <3

Cater has Alolan Raichu as his ace because cheerful surfer, and (iirc) all of his team can use double team since I thought that was fitting :P

I also chose Chandelure for Cater mainly to hint at his depth (duology? Sides?) as a character hehe

Trey has baking pokemon! Funny i know! They all help him make treats for the unbirthday parties :)

Riddle has Audino as his ace partially to hint at his mother’s influence (as his mom is like a nurse/healer/doctor?) and also because Audino seems like a calming pokemon (same logic for him having Meganium)

Riddle uses Talonflame since i can see baby riddle befriending the Fletchling that pops outside his window while he works on his self study stuff, and he has Roserade mainly for the rose theming

This au has been in the works for like a long while lol, i plan to draw each of the twst dorms as a gym, and to explain a little of my thought out story each time!

Yuu gets Grim as a starter pokemon accidentally, he helps Yuu save Professor Crowley from wild Houndour or something idk

Crowley hands Yuu a pokedex (“do my work for me, im so generous!”) and off the duo go!

Grim isnt an actual pokemon in this universe, but he does get mistaken for a multitude of them lol, from a Purrloin to a Sentret!

But Grim coming out of nowhere is not as much of a lucky chance as it seems… and Yuu discovers a mysterious tag under the ribbon they tie to Grim’s neck

GUH. HYPERFIXATION CROSSOVER

Default Princess: Might be a little basic, but she likes Eevee! She sports a full team of Eeveelutions

Spectre: Relicanth, Aerodactyl (can mega evolve), Aurorus

Nightmare: Golurk. The Moment of Clarity’s Golurk is especially cracked and dilapidated

Wraith: Gengar, Dusknoir, Mismagius. She likes to come off as scary

Gallant: Togekiss and Spritzee. He doesn’t battle, they’re just his silly little birdie friends

Burned Gray: Basic ass Charizard. She loves it though

Prisoner: Absol, which she prefers because of their precognition to disaster

Drowned Gray: Dewgong, Milotic, Blastoise. Loves the pure power of their water guns. Terrifyingly strong!

Beast: No Pokémon!

Adversary: Hitmonchan and Mudsdale. Appreciates their strength, but pampers them outside of battle. She sends them to fetch things outside her house for her

Eye of the Needle: Houndoom (can mega evolve)

Tower: Meowstic, Sylveon

Fury: Silvally!

Stranger: Ditto, Eevee… Dugtrio???

Razor: Scizzor. Obviously

Witch: Zoroark

Skeptic: Absol, much for the same reasons as Prisoner, but his can mega evolve

I HAVE THOUGHTS TO SHARE.

THEM AND THEIR hypothetical POKEMON TEAM (i would like to hear other people's thoughts because i am unsure and i plan to post this on the subreddit eventually)

explanations under the cut (its gonna be extensive so be prepared) (this has been rotting in my brain for a while)

KYBORG

he has a secret soft spot for his pokemon, if they faint or get injured he worries really badly

he likes to bond with them during training :D he pesters the others for pokemon battles

umbreon, poochyena - i feel like they kinda just have the same 'mysterious, dark' vibes that kyborg wants to have has!! but funnily enough, they're not as scary as they seem. very affectionate!! like dogs!! kyborg loves them

riolu - okay so think with me here.. riolu/lucario can read auras and emotions and so they know that kyborg isnt a bad person and they know when he's trying to mask his emotions ??!!???? so riolu would be understanding of him n they'd be pretty close

also i'd just like to think riolu (and the rest of his pokemon) enjoy battling alongside kyborg

scorbunny/froakie - when i see these pokemon i think of athleticism and/or dexterity and i couldn't decide between the two :'3

scorbunny/froakie would go on runs / exercise with kyborg, they have a similar personality type where they're both brash, energetic, enthusiastic and they click easily like that!!

though i imagine froakie is more calculated in battles compared to scorbunny whos more impulsive

alolan vulpix - SPOILERS FOR EP 33 (?)

this vulpix, alongside hannibal (perhaps a dragonair) and gumbo (the linoone), was fighting against .. lets say abomasnow?

and during that fight lets say gum gum and kyborg interfered by sending out their pokemon and assisting in the battle n kyborg became really fond of the vulpix and decided to keep him as a per

WHY alolan vulpix? idk i think it'd be fitting since kyborg has some ties to snow and ice and also because i believe the region they were in during that arc was snowy !!1

BART

he performs little shows with his lute and his pokemon!! and he also occasionally has pokemon battles

he loves his pokemon dearly tbh and i feel like all of them appreciate music in some way :3!!

pikachu - one of the pokemon he's owned for a long time! his pikachu particularly is quite fond of his trainer and his quirks n music, it helped the crew during the time bart was on the jebediah!!

i have no explanation for this one actually but a fun thought is that pikachu would evolve into an alolan raichu (look at the little guy surf!!) and this would mean that bart would live in the alolan region so who knows honestly... LISTEN HE JUST HAS A PIKACHU

chatot - a gift from marrrge to bart, passed down because the two started to bond while on the ship. they sang together n marrrge could tell they really had potential so boom kapow wachow

ALSO ABOUT THE MIMICKI NG THING chatot can mimic voices (from what i remember) and i think it'd be funny if it mimicked kyborg like the kenkus from that one library and it annoys kyborg to no bounds

mantine - caught during his time on the ship! mantine sometimes swim near ships in little packs and i suppose this one took a liking to bart, and bart was pretty fond of it as well :D not much to say here except for the fact its a silly little water guy

tauros - bart got like.. a baby auroch or something right?? idk i forgot but either way he is (weirdly) fond of beastly bulls and i suppose a tauros is a good substitute

i also like to imagine bart likes mounting (strange wording) his pokemon since it just means he doesn't have to walk much and he likes being a bit higher up than he usually is n tauros (and maybe mantine) are good for that

would he own the notorious pokemon? that is but a thought left for the audience.

GUM GUM

he's weirdly lucky, seems to have a good chance at finding shiny pokemon and other rare things

wonder why

anyways, his pokemon r kinda just companions that he likes to hug and hang out with :) occasionally he does battle with them

floette - flower buddy!!! i'd like to think that gum gum likes to spend time in flower fields when he has the chance and the one thing he's honestly pretty knowledgeable in is flowers

so he might've met a flabebe or a floette and they became buddies! he had no idea it was a shiny until maybe one of the party members mentioned it

bulbasaur - okay so i struggled on this decision but then it came to me that bulbasaur is PERFECT idk they have the same vibes and it eventually starts growing a little flower when it evolves

i can't explain this one they just have the same vibes and energy. i think they'd go well together

tyrunt - so let's imagine that for some reason there were some fossil pokemon that kinda just escaped and that's how we explain the dinosaur encounters from rhe campaign

anyways he befriends the tyrunt in typical gum gum fashion (kyborg is SHOCKED because out of all the pokemon this one was a shiny) and they become friends! it loves hugs but it often initiated them running full speed and knocking over the victim (which is fine for gum gum, not fun for anyone else though)

yamper - SPOILERS FOR GUM GUM'S ARC

despite gum gum's bad experiences with rum rum (WHICH BY THE WAY rum rum perhaps was a rockruff that evolved into midnight lycanroc or a houndour/houndoom and that bite wouldve HURT) he's still fond of puppies n yamper helped with this slight uneasiness he's felt

idk i think gum gum deserves a silly little puppy

all his pokemon r very cuddly :)

MUDD

prefers mellow, calm pokemon since he finds it a bit tiring to keep up with high energy pokemon (unlike the other three)

his pokemon are quite well trained!! he's caught a lot of them and they're all very well taken care of

despite his pokemon being pretty strong, he doesn't find much use in pokemon battles

snivy - got the snivy during his time with his family! royal background buddies!!! snivy is a very calm pokemon (but it shares the same sass that mudd has), they're pretty close :D

linoone - GUMBO!!!!! at first, linoone wasn't too big of a fan of mudd but they gradually becamw closer! they do everything together, if you look at mudd linoone would always be on his shoulders or being carried

lycanroc - its the vibes honestly..

midday lycanroc is calm and loyal, and maybe mudd has raised it since it was a rockruff so they're also pretty well bonded!

idk i think they'd get along well

lapras, gogoat - both pokemon that remind me of mudd's personality

i cant explain this except for the fact that theyre correlated to some of the pokemon he's wild shaped into so ....

archen - i think it'd be funny if mudd just had a feral little pokemon . end quote

Every Opportunity Pokemon Missed by not having Drew in Destiny Deoxys: A Non-Comprehensive But Still Long-Ass list

Art above- credit to the lovely @salon-maiden-anabel ! So. This is a topic that, if my sister mentions, she knows I will go off about it at the dinner table while my mother stares on confusedly. This is a topic I feel very strongly about, and I decided to put it into words for this post-and I KNOW I'm not the only one with strong feelings about this topic! @raich-raichu I know you showed interest in this topic when I said I'd do it so hope you don't mind if I @ you! THIS GOES FOR EVERYONE: PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE REBLOG WITH YOUR OWN OPINIONS AND/OR ADDITIONS ON THIS. I thrive on hearing everyone's takes and opinions. Images are included which makes it kind of long, each number on my list has a corresponding image below. For funsies. Also, I imagine this happening right before the last grand festival, though I know that’s incorrect. It just gives me more developed characters to work with since advanced and battle frontier Drew are pretty different development wise. This is with late AG Drew.

Some background. Why do I think Drew should be in Destiny Deoxys (which will be referred to as DD for the sake of my carpal tunnel)? What is the connection? Why DD and not, say Temple of the Sea? The key is the location. Drew is canonically from LaRousse City. And DD is the ONLY time we ever get to see it. Connection has been established. So... what would he even do in the movie? I'm glad you asked! Let's get into it. A numbered list of every missed opportunity the writers had by not including him.

1.) Character building through backstory. We know little to nothing about Drew's backstory, and this would have been a really natural way to learn more about it. We could have had a scene where we learn, oh, this is the flower shop his mother worked at and he grew up helping tend to the plants or whatever. This is the garden where he met budew. Just little things here and there would have been fascinating, and this movie's setting was a PERFECT opportunity for it. Plus, here's the vision. We get a semi emotional, nostalgic scene with his favorite place as a child, right? Rare Drew emotional moment, maybe sharing it with May and co.? And then, later in the movie, we see that place destroyed by the conflict in the city and we get an emotional sad moment there!!!! And in the ending credits with the song??? WE SEE HIM AND HIS POKEMON STAYING BEHIND IN THE CITY AND STARTING TO REBUILD IT (after waving at Ash and co. on the train back to mainland Hoenn). Guys, my vision is CLEAR AS DAY. Greenhouse time.

2.) Seeing him interact with other characters. Drew isn't the most extroverted guy out there, and we only ever really see him talk to Ash, May, Solidad, Harley, and Brianna. Also, May is the only consistent one in that list. That's literally five people, for those of you keeping count at home. In DD? A large cast of interesting characters for him to interact with, possibly childhood acquaintances that know him! We have Rebecca, purple hair metagross trainer who likes her computer more than most people. Sid, a human golden retriever. Rafe, who's basically Drew but with brown hair and none of the redeeming qualities. The two twins, whose names are never spoken and are only in the credits as Audrey and Kathryn (one of them also has a masquerain iirc, or at least a Surskit!). And Tory, kid who is scared of pokemon and tbh I wouldn't change Tory's role or screen interactions much. I would, however, say the others have a lot of potential for interactions with Drew. Rafe taunting both Ash and Drew at the same time? Rebecca and Drew getting along well because they're the only two who appreciate silence as a form of hanging out? Audrey and Katherine taking little sibling roles, possibly? Tons of possibilities here.

3.) Shamelessly plugging the contestshipping agenda here, but why else do you all follow me? Anyways, Sid from Destiny Deoxys has a sweet but entirely blatant crush on May (who actually knows and does not give much of a shit, though they get along well anyways). Now, I usually do not like jealousy tropes. I think they're easy to do poorly and for them to come across as posessive, which I am not a fan of. HOWEVER, I am a fan of Drew being all moody and bitchy /affectionate. I can see it going either one of two ways: one, we get asshole Drew back from season one of Advanced, who makes snide remarks at Sid who would likely brush it off as fun banter, further annoying Drew who literally cannot get under Sid's skin due to Sid's overwhelming optimism, or two, we get the Drew that has all of his walls up, hiding behind this cool facade of professionalism and aloofness, sort of emotionally overcompensating for trying to hide how much it irks him. Either way, would have been fun. Could have been used for comedy, too, since May is dumb as shit with the guy who has genuine feelings for her, but clocks the puppy love crush from Sid immediately. Would I have trusted the pokemon company to do this trope well? No, but it could have been funny as hell in the right hands.

4.) On that note, THE PASSPORT PHOTO SCENE. May isn't the most photogenic person in the world. Does he tease her about it? Does he make some offhand remark about how he thinks she looks nice before aloof-ly and deftly moving on from the topic, leaving her with the rare compliment as she tries to figure out if he was serious or not (or was it for her beautifly)? Does he show her how to retake it? DOES SHE GENUINELY SMILE IN THAT RETAKE PHOTO, LOOKING AT HIM BEHIND THE CAMERA ROBOT THING???????ASDFGHJKL so much potential with this already gold scene.

5.) More location-based character building. LaRousse City is home to the (or at least a) Battle Tower, and no mention of contests. This means, likely, that LaRousse is a very battle-enthusiast city. Did this make Drew feel like an outcast as a kid, being interested in something different from his peers? Could have been interesting.

6.) Let Drew have his hero moment. Let's be honest- most of the times that we see him, he's being either a jerk (affectionate), head-over-heels in love, or pathetic (see: Who What When Where Wynaut drowning incident). And in what I would categorize as an adventure anime, he has remarkably... little adventuring, save for a traipse in the woods with On Cloud Arcanine. This can be his moment to actually shine! He's obviously a great battler, though he prefers contest-oriented formats. He beat Ash with a type disadvantage. He's a strong trainer- let him put it to use and try to hold off the Deoxys clones (bonus points if he's holding them off from May, not that she needs him to save her ass).

7.) Forced togetherness with the crew. We know Drew has no issue spending time with May, and he's at the very least quite tolerant of Ash. But... Brock? Max? Fun fact, Brock CANONICALLY does NOT like Drew. At all. Calls him nails on a chalkboard. Makes this face at him (pictured below). Look me in the eyes and tell me you don't want more of that. Tell me to my face that you don't want more of him having to socialize and of Brock being... like this. Shit's hilarious.

Look at him.

I need more of this in my life.

8.) The angst. He has his entire city destroyed, let him have a grieving moment for it. Hell, let him have a moment where May tries to reach out and he has to decide if he's going to let her in or shut her out. Does he snap, like he did in May, We Harley Drew'd Ya? Does he let her in, like The Unbeatable Lightness of Seeing? Do the other LaRoussians reach out to him and let him know, hey, we're in this together? DO THE PLUSLE AND MINUN TRY TO CHEER HIM UP??????

9.) Let him get separated from the group, or let the group get separated from him. Let him have panic, uncertainty, worry for his newfound friends. Humanize him a little bit for casual viewers who know him as 'that asshole with the roses'. You know how Pokemon loves shots of people reaching out to save someone? Give me that. Let him not reach their hand in time as Deoxys clones pull them away or as they get lost in a swarm of security bots. Give me a Drew that thinks he’s failed, that it’s his fault. It isn’t of course, I just like putting him through it. Then… give me a reunion scene. An “oh my god, you’re all safe, I thought I had lost you” scene. Did you guys know we don’t get a single contestshipping hug????? Ever???? No, her keeping him from drowning doesn’t count. I think that’s a crime and I think a “thank god you’re alive” hug, from either end, would be amazing. Ship mode activated. Imagine. May, spotting him from across the city plaza once the dust settles, and sprinting to him, nearly knocking him over with a hug that he hesitantly returns, before realizing he doesn’t want to let go. Alternately, the other way around: he lets his walls down long enough to hug her, to feel safe to break down for a minute in her arms because he was so fucking worried. May, short-circuiting slightly because wait, is this really the same rival that she accidentally threw a frisbee at and hated so long ago? Give me Sid reacting forlornly in the background too fhdhhf. I love Sid, he’ll be ok. (Also: Brock having a moment of “Oh. You’re still alive. Great.” Kidding, mostly.) also… Brock giving Sid a “yeah, I know how it feels” pat on the back???? Just a concept.

10.) More Roselia teasing him. She's the biggest contestshipper out there. I love this little green rose gal. We need more of her being snarky to her trainer. She had so much personality with so few appearances, I love her. GIVE HIS OTHER POKEMON PERSONALITIES TOO!!!! Give them time to shine! My own takes here, but I like to think Absol is over Drew's bullshit 24/7 and is the serious one of the group. Flygon? no thoughts head empty, like most reptiles. Ft. a picture of my own no thoughts head empty reptile, who made friends with a cricket in his cleaning bowl below under Roselia gif. The others, no idea but there's my takes.

Currently I'm at a 1/2 sleeve all done by the same artist (cyndaquil was designed by @olguioo (on insta), I designed Clefairy and mew, and my artist @yeeon.tat (on insta) designed the rest 💕)

Photos taken 2 weeks healed for (new) mew, (new) Clefairy, pika / raichu (touchup) and cyndaquil (touchup) so some colours are still settling a bit 😝

Newsies Unite! AU

Uhhh woe, Newsies and Pokémon crossover AU be upon you.

little snippet I wrote about Sparrow meeting Race, Spot, and Albert :D

"Hello?" Sparrow asked in the general area of the desk in front of him, looking for the person to let him get to his dorm. "Is anybody there to help a lost, new student?"

A slight bang from behind the door on the back wall alerted Sparrow to the location of a person, but he wasn't moving. If somebody was making him wait, he'd wait for them.

"Sorry, sorry!" An adult man dressed in an purple and orange suit walked out the door, with messy hair and a charmander by his side. "Things got a bit switched around in the storage room, and I forgot there were more students arriving today."

"It's all good." Sparrow waved his hand, smiling. "I just need to get checked in so I can actually get to my dorm and unpack."

"Thank you for understanding." The trainer sat at the desk, and turned on the computer to check the logs. "Name?"

"Alex Widdow." Sparrow said. "I have two eevees and a taillow."

The man (Sparrow finally got around to checking his nametag, which read Fenris Wized) typed a few things into the computer, before nodding at Sparrow. "You're in dorm B4, which is on the second floor of the dorms building, and your pokémon are confirmed to be yours. Welcome to Aeos Island, trainer."

Sparrow nodded his head, a huge grin covering his face. He had finally made it.

Now to hope and pray that his dormmates would be nice.

"B8, B6, ah, B4!" Sparrow had been walking down the hall, because for some reason the smaller numbered dorms were farther towards the end of the dorm building. But it was fine.

The doors on the right side were purple, while the ones on the left were orange, so Sparrow was left standing in front of a violet door with a number and a letter on it.

All that was left to do was open the door.

It opened with a small creek, and showed a scene of chaos before him.

"RACE GET YOUR JOLTEON OFF ME!"

Sparrow stood in the doorway, watching as a jolteon of all things had jumped on top of a teenager with brown hair, as a ginger haired trainer (probably the jolteon's owner) cackled at the chaos. On the couch across the room, a short teen with black hair was watching with a look of disappointment.

The person on the coach noticed Sparrow standing awkwardly in the doorway, and apparently decided to take pity on him.

"Race, Albert, cut it out. We've got a new roommate."

The two involved with the chaos of the jolteon, glanced over at Sparrow. The ginger quickly stood up, calling the jolteon back to its pokéball, and turned to face Sparrow.

"Greetings, sorry you had to barge in on that." He said, glaring at the others. "I'm Racetrack, although you can call me Racer like the others. That's Albert, and the short and murderous one is Spot."

Sparrow huffed a laugh. "I'm Alex, although I prefer to go by Sparrow." He paused, before adding onto his sentence. "Although I'll take any bird themed nicknames."

"Ah, a nicknames guy. Jack's goin' to have a field day." Spot commented, getting up from where he was sitting.

"What pokémon do you have?" Albert asked, sitting up and shaking his head to get his hair away from his face.

"Two eevees and a taillow." Sparrow said, grinning. "Basic, but leafeon and vaporeon are pretty decent when you get them."

"Another eeveelution appreciator." Racer said approvingly. "I've got a jolteon, a zeraora, and a raichu!"

"Speedy electric types?" Sparrow noted. "Good idea."

"I've got a flareon, a torchic, and a fennekin!" Albert called from the stool he had taken a seat on. "Fire types somehow seem to gravitate towards me."

"And I have a garchomp and a lucario." Spot added, causing Sparrow to stare at him.

"How the fuck did you catch a garchomp?"

"Hey, you mentioned the one eevee is named Rapid, but what about the taillow and the second eevee?" Racer asked, petting his raichu from where it was sitting next to him.

Sparrow mentally froze for a second, before putting his hand in his hands.

"You guys are going to call me crazy, but I've had these two for almost three months now." He started. "The taillow is named Spot and the second eevee is named Racer."

Racer and Spot both stared at him for a second, causing Sparrow to shrink into the cushions of the couch.

"Well, fate is real and it has brought us together." Racer said with a chuckle. "Was there a reason or...?"

"That's the funny part!" Sparrow laughed, "I dreamed of fighting with somebody named Race, so I thought it was a badass name and modified it."

"Can you see the future?" Spot asked.

"Nope, I just have weirdly good name picking skills."

1:Hellspawn posts pictures of them on social media sometimes (and replies to “Are they dating” comments with a “not yet they aren’t. :P”)

2:They both HATE cereal and so they make sure to leave the room if someone’s eating cereal.

3:They’ve met Emily’s parents and they approve of Azreal :) They also had to question logic lol

4:They hold hands and eat ice cream on a park bench when the weathers nice :)

5:Azreal doesn’t want to upset Emily in fear of her not liking them anymore

6:Their favorite mythical Pokémon Are Victini (Emily) and Deoxys (Azreal). Their favorite legendary Pokémon are Dialga (Emily) and Zapdos (Azreal) Their favorite normal Pokémon are Luxray (Emily) and Alolan Raichu (Azreal)

7:Whenever they play games like Mario party, they play as partner characters like Mario and Luigi, Bowser and Bowser junior, etc.

8:if someone tries to insult Azreal, Emily will list off all of Azreal’s accomplishments and say “and what do YOU have? A mouth that never should have opened.”

19:Roulxs Kaard is sort of a parental figure to Azreal, and approves of the two and their “friendship”.

21:Despite being A Robot, Aizreal has feelings, and gets jealous whenever Zomily mentions her old friends.

22:Zomily really likes that Azreal is a Robot because she has no chance of Infecting them.

23:when Aizreal turns 15, they find out a way to make Zomily into normal Emily instead, much to her appreciation.

24:They call eachother “Robo-Azzy” And “Zom-Zom”

25:Aizreal listed Zomily as “Special someone” in their facial recognition software.
