Cat quilt progress! I still need to sew the halves of each square together and then sew the squares together, but I’m happy with it so far!

This quilt went through a couple of changes because I wasn’t careful when piecing - but I still like it! And I am happy to say the quilt top is done!

The main body is done! Now I'm muddling through a border to give the main design a floating effect...

And here it is all laid out on the lounge room floor. The next step is to stitch the units together. While I am doing that I will be thinking about how to square it up. Still a long way to go on this project but I feel like I have reached a real mile stone finishing the last diamond.

The quilted progress pride pillowcase is finished! Finally used all those fancy decorative stitches my sewing machine has. They are indeed very decorative. First time actually finishing a quilt and being happy with it. Yes, it's a little bubbly and wonky, but I don't care. Because it's a pillowcase, nobody would notice if it were all perfectly neat. The filling is a cobbled together bunch of floof from all the pillows my dog has torn up in the past. Don't worry, she won't get this one.
Based on my own pattern, which is in turn based on the progress pride flag design by Valentino Vecchietti.

Purple bee quilt progress! I know it’s not looking particularly purple or bee-like right now, but it’ll get there :P
I was going to make the entire layer cake into one quilt for someone I haven’t talked to in a few years who loves bees, but I found some charities that take donations of handmade quilts for kids, so I’m adding a little bit of fabric from my stash and making two smaller quilts to donate instead

Ironed the top and backing, made the quilt sandwich with batting and pinned it! The final steps are quilting it (sewing the three-layer sandwich together) and then adding bias tape to the edges! It's really coming together!

My sister-in-law/bestie is moving away from me so I’m making her a quilt! I started piecing today and I have to say I’m thrilled with how it is coming out. It was supposed to be coffin shapes but due to time I went with an easier pattern.

So I did the math (never do the math) and each of these quilt blocks has 88 pieces. 🙃 Ten out of 16 done!
Cat tax and pattern name below the cut.
Pattern is Antique Lace by Missouri Star (I'm making it 4x4 instead of 3x3 to make a bed quilt).

You ever see a design so cool, hiding innocuously in something you love so much, that you take up a new hobby about it? Process pics under the cut!

This was a labor of love, from recreating the above page as a regularized vector diagram, to isolating out, fiddling with, and sizing all the shapes for both the Cricut and the embroidery machine:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
creating a truckton of stencils and marking guides:
Tumblr media
and TRIANGLES. so many triangles
Tumblr media
I lost count of all the bits and bobs (btw Belos part of your sigil looks like a chicken wing)
Tumblr media
hovering like a helicopter over the machine to get each piece laid out just right
Tumblr media
and then picking out a backing fabric as offensive to crusty old pilgrim men as possible.

To whatever artist, designer, or animator went off on this single page that's in a single episode for seconds, and isn't even the side we're paying attention to: I see you. And thanks. <3
