I found another photo where they are very close... some people says that George V and his wife Mary were "stiff and cold" persons, but I dont think so, or at least, not when they were out of the public's eyes.

London, 1914. King George V and Queen Mary at the Y.M.C.A., Great Russell Street. To the left of the King, a Mr. Vergo, Secretary General; to the far right, Lord Kinnaird, President of the Y.M.C.A.
OH YES and standing next to his mama, let’s not forget an adorable 18/19 year-old Prince Bertie! He looks so shy and awkward, what a heartbreaker 🥹

Rare photos of King George V and Queen Mary
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I found these two photos in a site called "Royal Collection Trust" and now I can't find these photos on my computer, so I will post them in this other blog of mine.
By the way, I think that in the two photos the two people are Queen Mary and King George V. Mary is easier to recognize, however here in these photos since they are very blurry George is not easily recognizable.

‘The Greaze is an annual custom unique to Westminster School, held each Shrove Tuesday since at least the mid 1700s but in a tradition likely to be medieval. A school cook tosses a pancake over an iron bar and pupils scramble to retrieve what they can of the pancake. The pupil with the largest piece wins a guinea from the Dean of Westminster, who also grants the whole school an extra day’s holiday — the ‘Dean’s play’.
The Greaze is the most anticipated event in the School diary and is a popular spectator event, notably in 1919 when it was attended by King George V and Queen Mary, alongside their sons, the future Edward VIII and George VI.’

Did Mary have good relations with queen Marie of Romania? Im looking for an info on them but I have been unsuccessful
Hi!
As far as I know they did!
Marie had been closer to George as children (they were cousins after all), but herself and May certainly knew each other! As the years went by I think, again, Marie kept more in contact with George than with May, but Marie’s state visit (with her husband) sometime in the early 1920s saw all of them getting on like a house on fire!
I think as well there was a post recently where Marie commented on Bertie (as he was sent to represent them at Marie’s sons wedding) where she remarked that whilst she reminded him of George, his smile was entirely his mothers!
Hope this helps!
❤️
