✨ Jean-Baptiste-Siméon Chardin was an 18th-century French painter. He is considered a master of still life, and is also noted for his genre paintings which depict kitchen maids, children, and domestic activities. Carefully balanced composition, soft diffusion of light, and granular impasto characterize his work. Largely self-taught, Chardin was greatly influenced by the realism and subject matter of the 17th-century Low Country masters. Chardin's work had little in common with the Rococo painting style that dominated French art in the 18th century. [1]

✨ Chardin was born in Paris, the son of a cabinetmaker, and rarely left the city. He lived on the Left Bank near Saint-Sulpice until 1757, when Louis XV granted him a studio and living quarters in the Louvre. He made a modest living by producing paintings in various genres at whatever price his customers chose to pay him. [2]

✨ In this composition a boy poised on a window sill blows a soap bubble. Both he and the younger boy next to him are fully absorbed in the activity; however, for the 18th–century viewer, bubbles were not only a form of entertainment, but also symbols of the transience of life. The subject was popular in 17th–century Dutch prints that were widely disseminated in France; Chardin made at least three and probably four versions of this painting. [3]

DeAnne's critically-acclaimed Netflix special, Gentleman Elf, is available right this minute as part of the groundbreaking Comedians of the World series. They've performed everywhere from Iceland to New Zealand, and is a regular at both the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Montreal's prestigious, invite-only Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. i have 2 chapbook/zine type things i made last summer, one teaching the basics of making ink and paint from natural materials and another teaching how to print on cotton fabric using natural materials and soy milk. both explain the basics and have recipes, and in the past i've given them out to participants when i teach workshops. i'm thinking of putting them up on gumtree or something similar as pay-what-you-can PDFs for people who are interested in learning more, hopefully i'll have them available sometime in early may :3

The cracks stand for the hurt that he’s caused her.

The little hearts in her eyes is her love for him, with the tear bc of her love for him and conflict with it.

would anyone be interested in a transcript of the Super Dark Times director's/writers' commentary of the film if I were to transcribe it? I figured if there was interest I would unoffically do it, as there's no closed captions for that commentary on any of the digital or physical versions of this movie you can purchase that I can find.

Side note, I will also consider this for certain other films like Ginger Snaps, other horror, and short internet videos such as: YouTube videos, TikToks, Instagram videos and reels etc., my time and the cost of purchasing the material allowing. I can do it for the movie itself and/or for the extra materials included with the purchased copy.

hi idk if this is weird of me to say but i just wanna express my appreciation for your music. i found the album lo-fi accordion songs for people who just don't care about anything two years ago at a low point in my life and i've listened to it so many times since. it's such an important piece of art for me, and it's also just really good music. thank you for sharing it with the world :)

does anyone know how it works with patreon if you already have subscribers and you then implement a tier system? like right now it's set to anyone who pledges has to pledge a custom amount & doesn't get access to anything extra for doing so, but if i wanted to implement, say, a £1 tier which lets you view particular texts, would people who had pledged say like £2 or something on the old system automatically be able to see that? if that makes sense
