I would like to make it very clear that unless something really fuckin awful happens, I have absolutely 0 issues with people PvP blazing my posts.
Go nuts, fam. Or don't. Up to you. I just want you to know I kept the feature enabled on purpose.

It was a thing I thought of when tumblr blaze originally came out, but I think the best and most ethical way to enable pvp blaze would be to
- only allow it for blogs that have tipping on
- send a portion of the blaze fee to the person whose post is being blazed as a tip (and blaze it to proportionally fewer people as a regular blaze or whatever) (or maybe make it cost regular blaze fee + tip? Either way)
- the blaze cannot come into effect until the person whose post it is has approved the blaze and accepted the tip
That way you don't get people hate-blazing people's posts to actually harrass them, and PVP is enabled, but only if you're in on the joke. Plus a tip, because if you liked someone's post enough to blaze it (or you wanted to curse them with notes), they actually get something definitively positive out of it.
Anyway @staff @support etc, take this as feedback. I think it's a way better idea and would actually foster a positive environment on tumblr.

One thing that might be a great addition to the pvp blaze feature @staff have gone and given us chaos gremlins would be the ability for the pvp blaze to say sth like "BLAZED BY A FRENEMY" on a post that your post that you specifically haven't blazed
That'd cover anyone who is mistakenly assumed to be blazing a donation or charity post for themselves and "wasting money" on a blaze, and also just be inordinately funny to see "blazed by frenemy" or a little 8-bit character icon with a sword and flames behind it in true frenemy fashion
Just, it sounds better in my head and is sth I'd like to see here ya know

My first pvp blaze turned out to be a porn blog blazing someone who makes erotica they like. I knew this feature would be weird, but damn, it's weird out of the gate.

Oh god I’m an idiot. It’s 420 Blaze it. That’s why they waited until today. (Head in hands)

So I made the quick decision to have @fedoranon (this blog) have pvp blaze off by default and my Effortpost/curated/personal sideblog @fedoranonymous have it as an option, since it's the blog dedicated for having tipping enabled when that becomes a thing I have the spoons for
Incidentally here's a dream I had that can cause psychic damage to a whole lot of kinds of people
And here's one that would cause me personally psychic damage if it suddenly blew up

Now we’re going to start seeing Schrodinger’s Blaze posts, where you can’t tell whether some mad bastard blazed a stranger’s post, or the OP did it on their own.

Friday April 21.
Yes, That Is Right—Blaze Other People's Posts.
Oh, what's this here box? Pandora? Who the heck's Pandora? Ahh, I'm sure she won't mind
...
Ah. Ok. It is now we understand, Pandora. Sorry about that. After taking a look in this here chest of yours, just yesterday, Thursday the 20th of April, it turns out that this was not perhaps the wisest move. Inside its splintering oak, we found instructions for Blazing other people's posts, and it appears we got a little carried away. We removed this guide from the ol' trunk and let it free to the good people of Tumblr and, well. It's all beginning to get a bit Hunger Games in here, and we suspect we only have ourselves to blame. But what's done is done as far as #tumblr blaze is concerned, so it is on us to make the best of it.
* vintage cartoon anxious gulp *
And with great power comes great responsibility. This is something that Tumblr understands profoundly, and we can rest certain that users will wield this newfound ability with that sagest, most timeless advice in mind. So if, for example, they were lout browsing in the marshes of the dashboard and were to stumble upon an image of a pug with the smiling mouth of a human, we could trust them to do what they know to be right—and stay away, for everyone's sakes.
This is it people x

Okay, PVP blazing is fun, but could we perhaps get a middle setting between "sure, go ahead" and "nope, not allowed"? Specifically, could we set it so that only mutuals can blaze our posts? Because I'm not comfortable with any random person blazing my stuff, but my friends? They can have at it.
Hey, @katy-l-wood!
As it happens, we’ have already received similar suggestions from other users as well, and this would seem to be a popular request. We also happen to be considering adding these options to the Blaze controls. Though it is important to add there is not much more we can say beyond that at this moment, as it would require a substantial amount of additional development work. It is a real maybe, but that is really about as much as we can offer at this point—so keep an eye here, or over at @changes, for the latest.
Thanks again for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We appreciate it! And if you have any other ideas or feedback, we would love to hear them!
Best,
—Beau

Everyone's talking about Tumblr Blaze in the context of Tumblr PvP and how you should be able to pay to unBlaze posts, but I don't think that's the most Tumblr PvP thing
No, the most Tumblr PvP thing would be the ability to Blaze other people's posts
Whoops! Looks like your weird headcanon Homestuck AU is visible to every single Tumblr user now~
