How The OP Boys Wish You A Happy Birthday » SFW
Tumblr media
A/N : Yep! It’s my birthday, that’s why this is here. And I apologize in advance for not writing anything for Sanji’s birthday 😭 and yes I had to clarify that this is a sfw version ... small af HCs.
This wasn’t as great as I hoped, obviously but I’m happy about it and I like it. :>
Note : Luffy, Sanji, Zoro, Ace, Sabo, Law + Kid, Mihawk, Katakuri,
Summary : How these boys would wish you a happy birthday in their own ways.
-
Luffy
Tumblr media
The loudest one. Will scream it first thing when he even realizes that it’s your birthday.
Definitely does forget it though. I know people canon that Luffy is one of those whos dense and all but would actually remember all of his crew’s birthdays but I mean come on, I’m sure he’ll definitely forget..
But when he knows, man is it one hell of a party and day for you.
Demands Sanji prepare a giant feast for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Any meat there is, Luffy is forcing it all towards you to have before he takes the rest. It’s your special day after all! So you get to eat the meat first. ( just don’t take too long, he’s drooling )
Demands the crew to celebrate with a huge ass party and goes to the nearest island to buy you anything and EVERYTHING, he has no boundaries, especially with no money.
It’s a seriously good time though.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY [NAMEEEE]!”
-
Zoro
Tumblr media
Zoro is definitely more chill and laid back. He won’t realize it at first until he sees you and he just casually says it.
He doesn’t really care too much about celebrating it or just doing anything for any birthday in general but he’s not opposed to anything you want, especially if there’s booze.
Definitely teases you about your age though. Already a year older? How old, he can see gray hairs already~
He’s not about the gift giving or shit either, he’s more of spending time with the person type, to show he cares. So he’d offer you to join him in the crows nest or he’ll just lay or follow you as you wish.
“Oh. Happy Birthday, old man/woman.” Of course, it’s just for laughs and jokes.
-
Sanji
Tumblr media
This boy is the first to say it, first thing in the morning once you wake up.
He’s so cheery and smiley for you and is set to give you the perfect birthday, with a delicious birthday breakfast, or breakfast in bed if you’re still tired.
The rest of the day is him just never leaving your side, doing whatever you need, even the smallest things ever. He wants to make sure you don’t do anything other than the fun things for your special day.
Prepares a giant feast of all your favorite and native foods that he’s been practicing to perfect and finally, is a huge gift giver, buying you a rather expensive jewelry he thought would look amazing on you.
“My lovely, sweet, [Name]. I hope you have the most wonderful birthday today, and accept this beautiful gift that I know will look stunning on you, only adding to your gorgeous appearance.”
-
Ace
Tumblr media
Oh boy, this freckled one is loud. He sure loves birthdays, especially celebrating them and the giant ass parties you have.
Reminds everyone in the crew and pleads Whitebeard every year to make a big celebratory feast and party for you.
Does attempt to make it a surprise party but with it happening every year and trying to make it a grand one on the ship usually doesn’t succeed in surprising you.
His drunk speeches are embarrassing and hilarious, even more so when he pulls you to the center to give a speech and encourages you to say something.
He’s a lot but he means well, and when you two are alone, he offers a kind and sweet smile before holding out his present for you, something he knows you’ve been eyeing and wanting for a while.
And with the brightest, warmest grin in the sunset, he speaks.
“Happy Birthday, [Name]~. May this day and year make your wishes come true.”
-
Sabo
Tumblr media
Sabo remembers, he remembers the littlest things so of course he’ll remember it!
Now, the revolutionary army is a family but not many of them are a huge party celebrator but are always up to celebrate anyone’s birthdays.
Fortunately, Sabo manages to convince Dragon to have a small party to celebrate yours and it’s nothing too big, just some food, a cake and the closest members of the army there with you.
Koala and Hack are congratulating you and wishing you well while Dragon, not a huge partier, offers his wishes as well before sitting off to the side to work as usual.
Ivankov is the most enthusiastic, making sure the whole party is swell and is the one who sets up all the decorations and has the biggest present.
Sabo is the one who sticks by your side most, taking you everywhere you want and has the most memorable / amount of presents for you.
First is some nostalgic items that reminds him of when you two first met, then it’s items that represent interests that you both share, then it’s something he knows you’ve been wanting for forever, and lastly, it’s something that reminds him most of you, the most special one.
Yeah, not a big party but Sabo will do anything for you, so if you don’t want one, there won’t be any. Sabo just wants you to be happy and will do what it takes to make you smile. He’s a huge gift giver, but only things he knows you will love. Hopefully.
“Happy Birthday [Name]! I got you some gifts and I’m not taking any refusals, it’s your birthday. Now, let’s get going to the city so I can take you shopping.”
-
Law
Tumblr media
Of course Law remembers, it’s Law. However, the most he’ll do is wish you a happy birthday, that’s it really.
He’s not really one to make a big deal out of things, he’s not one for parties clearly, as seen in Dressrosa aftermath, so he won’t really have one unless you really want one. Or, if the others happen to catch word of your special day and wish to celebrate it with a party.
If there has to be a party, Law expects it to be a small one at the very least, nothing too crazy. Just some simple decorations, gifts and presents, but it’s his crew. Of course they’ll go all out.
However when he actually comes to it, after being forced to rest, he actually enjoys it. Even more so when he sees how happy you are, your bright smile filling the mood in the room and the way your eyes light up when he comes.
Law’s a bit embarrassed when the two of you are finally alone. He didn’t really care for birthdays in general but he still got you a little something, and tries to act casual about it when he hands you the thin box.
Inside, is a gold charm bracelet with mini heart charms around it and in the middle is a skull and crossbones.
“Happy Birthday, [Name]-ya.. I got you this.. hope you like it.”
( yk he’s going to be awkward and kinda shy )
-
Kid
Tumblr media
Does not remember. Killer has to remind him, despite the uncertainty that the red head would care.
The red head wouldn’t really care at first, especially when he sees you aren’t really mentioning it or excited about it before deciding to celebrate it on the nearest island.
Totally not an excuse to just spend the whole day crashing a pub and drinking the place dry in celebration.
You’re the star of the show, celebrity of the day, so Kid makes you pay for everything if he doesn’t threaten the owner to give everything for free. Plus, he will make you drink as many beers as you can until you pass out and challenges you to many drinks and such.
Kid doesn’t give a shit about gift giving or making a big ass party with food and stuff, but the most he’ll do is let you off the hook for the day and not do any work. After that, you’re back to your duties.
“Oi. I don’t give a shit about this birthday crap, but whatever you want, it’s yours. Nothing too fuckin’ ridiculous obviously.. only for today, ya hear?”
-
Mihawk
Tumblr media
This man will definitely remember and if you are dating him, prepared to be swept off your feet and romantically pampered.
Breakfast is already set on the table when you awake, along with a simple rose on the table in a vase.
There is no parties, and no way is he celebrating this with Shanks unless you truly wish to, or if Shanks appears unannounced. Mihawk prefers to celebrate with just the two of you.
The whole day is just spent together, cuddling, wandering the island and just doing whatever you want because it’s your special day. It ends with some wine and cuddling by the fire before he hands you his present.
The box is small and you open it to reveal a diamond necklace with a skull and crossbones, along with a cross. ( idk man )
With the soft kiss to your temple, he holds you closer in his chair by the fireplace.
“I wish you a Happy Birthday, mi amour. I hope today has been a great day for you.”
-
Katakuri
Tumblr media
Knows from the beginning, but the amount of guilt he feels when he possibly won’t be around for it, reallyyy hurts him :<
No doubt that he will definitely be there though. He’s always there for everyone’s birthdays :>
Katakuri won’t eat any of the giant ass cakes that Pudding makes and he’s not a big gift giver either, he’s more quality time kind of person.
But, when it’s time for his special meriendas, he asks the chefs to make a particular bigger one and stick candles around before giving it to you.
It’s the least, smallest offer he can give you, a birthday donut. :) he’ll be looking serious and all but under his scarf is a hidden small and proud smile and maybe a small flush of his cheeks.
“Happy Birthday, [Name]. Make sure to enjoy today, alright?”
-
A/N : so yeah! My view on how these boys would wish you a happy birthday. Some of it is a bit rushed because I made this so late. It was a last minute thing.
Anyways, hope you are all doing well and having a great day/night! :> ily.

Of Friendship, Captains, and Wedding Dresses
It was rare that Luffy asked to go shopping with his navigator. The hyperactive captain usually didn’t have the patience for following Nami around a peaceful town as she tried on clothes, instead complaining that he was hungry or bored and why couldn’t they go on an adventure? It was best to let him go off on his own whenever they reached an island with decent enough shops, as it saved her the headache and trouble that came with reigning him in.
This time, though, the rubber captain had practically begged to go with her, agreeing to carry all her bags and not mention meat once. Three hours in and he’d kept that promise, not even complaining that she was taking too long trying stuff on or haggling down the prices of navigation equipment. Once or twice, he even gave an opinion, even if it wasn’t much more than “the color’s nice” or “can you fight in that?”
To be honest, it had Nami worried.
“Why’d you want to come shopping with me, Luffy?” she asked as she handed him another bag stuffed with shoes. Sparkly sandals with three-inch heels had caught her eye, but she had intentionally taken her time deciding between the turquoise and the teal, testing if her captain would say anything. Throughout the grueling twenty minutes he’d sat patiently, not commenting that the difference between them really was miniscule.
Stretching his arms to make room for her latest purchase, he merely shrugged. “I just wanted to spend time with you. Is that ok?”
“I mean, of course, but wouldn’t you rather explore the island?”
“I can do that with Usopp and Chopper later. Robin says there are some cool beetles in the forest that are supposed to come out at night, so I’ll have a midnight adventure!”
A giggle escaped her lips. That sounded far more like the man she knew. Maybe she was overthinking things; they’d spent two years apart after Sabaody, and since the crew had reunited there hadn’t been much opportunity for leisure time or hanging out. Luffy often asked her to play games with him, but between the maps she had to draw, tending to her mikan trees and the New World’s dangerously unpredictable weather, she rarely accepted, knowing she had to be ready for a storm or other disaster at any time.
Even when danger wasn’t imminent, she wasn’t always around; Law had gotten into the habit of “running into them” quite regularly and spiriting her away to his ship to make the most of their “alliance.” Hell, part of the reason she was so anxious to go shopping was because he’d started ripping her clothes off in the heat of the moment, which usually meant she had to borrow his shirts and hoodies just to get back to the ship. The sight never failed to leave Sanji in tears, and even Luffy had started looking grim at how often she returned in the surgeon’s clothes.
Regardless, something was clearly up with her captain. Maybe Luffy just really wanted to spend some time with her, and he felt shopping was the only way since he could never manage to stay quiet long enough to join her in the library and she didn’t trust him with her precious mikan trees. Or maybe he felt bad over how often his reluctant friend ruined her clothes and wanted to make it up to her by acting as a pack mule. After all, she regularly repaired his hat when it got damaged. Mentally, she made note to play one of his silly games next time he asked. If he was making this much of an effort, she should too.
Strolling down the street, she glanced about, trying to decide where to go next. There was a bookstore, a patisserie, more shoe stores, and some dress boutiques she definitely wanted to check out, but maybe they could duck into the toy store for a little while and see if they could find a new beetle-catching net. Best to reward good behavior now so he wouldn’t get antsy and ruin the rest of her shopping plans.
“Hey, why don’t you try on those dresses?”
Glancing over to the shop window Luffy was pointing at, she did a double-take. A high-end boutique loomed before them, gorgeous white gowns featured prominently in the display window. Lace veils draped softly across the mannequins’ shoulders, and gem-studded tiaras and jewelry caught the early afternoon sunlight.
Jaw dropping, Nami stared at him. “You want me to try on wedding dresses?!”
The captain seemed bemused at her reaction. “Why not? You like fancy dresses, don’t you?”
“Yeah, except I’m not getting married, Luffy!”
“But you looked pretty in the one you wore on Thriller Bark.”
“I’m not saying I didn’t, but I wasn’t exactly happy with the idea of getting married then, what with the kidnapping, remember?” she cried, too flabbergasted to smack him over such a ridiculous idea.
Crossing his arms (which was no simple feat, given how they were covered in her bags) he cocked his head to the side. “So, you wouldn’t marry someone who kidnapped you?”
“Of course not!”
A look of relief crossed his face. “Good.”
Sighing, Nami rubbed her temples in exasperation. Perhaps she was overreacting. Luffy was generally clueless about girly stuff like weddings and romance, so maybe he didn’t realize how crazy his suggestion had been. All she had to do was distract him with something else, and he’d drop the topic entirely. There had to be a food stall or butcher shop nearby…
“But if you did get married, you’d have to leave the Sunny, right? I mean, husbands and wives usually live together, and if he were on another crew…” he trailed off.
An unusually serious expression had taken over her captain’s perpetually smiling face, and her frown deepened. “What’s all this about, Luffy? Are you worried about Big Mom coming after Sanji-kun again?” It certainly crossed her mind often enough. She didn’t blame the blonde cook for never telling them about his past, or his royal lineage, and even if he had, none of them could have predicted he’d nearly get married off because of it. “I’m pretty sure that’s not going to happen; for better or for worse, she’s more likely to kill him on sight than make him marry any of her daughters.”
“But Sanji seemed to like Pudding. What if they do get married? When people get married to someone on another crew, they leave,” Luffy replied, chewing on his lip in thought. “I mean, Baby 5 left ‘Mingo to be with Sai. How am I supposed to become King of the Pirates without my nakama?”
A surge of sympathy welled up inside her. Had Luffy ever been to a normal wedding where no one was being forced or blackmailed? If not, it made sense that he’d be paranoid, given the horrible examples they’d dealt with.
“Luffy, from what Law-kun’s told me, Baby 5 was treated like crap by her crew, especially Doflamingo. He called her family, but really, he was just using her. Don Sai just gave her a way out, kind of like how you helped me break away from Arlong. People stay with the captains that make them happy.”
“Hmmm, I guess so.” Lifting his head, his expression remained pensive. “And if she’s already married, no one can take her away and make her join their crew, right?”
Nami had yet to meet Baby 5 personally, but from what Law and Robin had told her, some concern was warranted; after all, the woman had gotten engaged eight other times simply because a man had “needed” her, not because she loved them. Even though he despised Doflamingo with a burning passion, Law had admitted that his former captain murdering her various grooms had probably been for the best. Luckily, the respect and emotional stability Sai provided was doing wonders. Nami had heard from Bepo that when the Heart Pirates had crossed paths with the Happo Navy not long ago, Baby 5 had ignored Law’s request for a glass of water for a full twenty minutes.
Of course, she’d eventually caved and brought him a whole barrel of water, but progress was progress. Law was apparently so impressed he hadn’t even glared at her when she slapped him. Nami was just glad they both seemed to be healing from the mental and emotional scars Doflamingo had given them.
“Well, I can’t say she won’t get kidnapped, but you can be sure her husband will rescue her, and she won’t be joining any other crew,” Nami assured with a smile, hoping to finally put this rather strange conversation to bed. “Being a good husband is like being a good captain—if a man looks out for his wife’s needs, protects her, and cares for her, she’ll do the same, and he’ll never have to worry about her leaving him.” Of course, there was more to it that, but she really didn’t want to explain the more intimate stuff to him. She wasn’t even entirely sure he knew what sex was, and she had neither the energy nor patience to give him the Talk.
Her words seemed to make something click in Luffy’s mind, and the serious glint returned to his eyes. Taking a deep breath, he squared his shoulders, put down her bags, and sank to one knee.
“Nami, will you marry me?”
The navigator’s hands slapped over her mouth in utter shock. People started to cheer, a small crowd forming around them to offer congratulations. There was a flash, and Nami noticed a photographer out of the corner of her eye, probably hoping to cash in on the “happy couple’s” moment.
A thousand emotions surged through her, most of them varying shades of confusion, with a heaping helping of fury mixed in. What the hell was he doing? Marry Luffy? Was he delirious from hunger? Was this a prank? Would she be Monkey D. Nami? Where was the ring? If he became King of the Pirates, would that make her Pirate Queen? Did this entitle her to a bigger share of the treasure? How long had he been planning this?
What the hell would Law think?
Unfortunately, before she could give voice to any of the jumbled thought spinning about her mind, a completely different question came from the crowd.
“Wait, isn’t that Straw Hat Luffy?”
“The pirate?!”
“Holy crap, and that’s Cat Thief Nami!”
“Call the Marines!”
“Shit!” Nami cursed, and Luffy seemed to agree, grabbing her hand (and her bags) as they made a run for it, the gaggle of well-wishers swiftly turning into an angry mob.
Later, when she had calmed down and was safely back on the ship, she’d have a good laugh over it. Only someone like her captain could cause such mayhem with a simple marriage proposal.
That wouldn’t be for a while, though, as she was too busy freaking out while winding through the confused crowd until Luffy managed to pull them into an alley long enough for her to throw up her Mirage Tempo and render them invisible.
So much for a day of retail therapy, Nami groused, watching the mob stampede past, shouting that the Straw Hat pirates were in town. A couple of them poked their heads into the alley, but the illusion held true and the mob moved on, calling for someone to contact the marines.
The danger having passed, she dropped the illusion and smacked Luffy over the head with her Clima-Tact, at last free to focus her full wrath on her companion. “Monkey D. Luffy, you’ve got five seconds to explain why the hell you just proposed to me in front of everyone!” she whispered harshly, hands gripping his vest so hard she was pretty sure it would rip. “You didn’t even get me a ring! You should know I’d never say yes to anything that’s not at least 200 karats!”
“Shoot, I knew I forgot something!” he said, snapping his fingers.
“What you forgot is that I asked you a damn question! What the hell were you thinking?!”
The murderous look in her eyes told him she wasn’t in the mood for games, and he immediately panicked. “That if we get married, no one can make you join their crew!”
“Idiot!” she growled, slamming her fist down onto his head. “You think that’s reason enough for us to get married? You’re not even my type! You’re…” she trailed off, struggling to find the right words. Luffy was a lot of things to her, but a potential romantic partner was definitely not one. He was immature, reckless, a fool, and one of the most ridiculous men she’d ever met. He had no fashion sense, couldn’t be refined if his life depended on it, and had no appreciation for treasure or the finer things Nami coveted.
On the other hand, he was also loyal, caring, strong, fun-loving, always able to make her laugh, and perhaps one of her closest friends. The bond they shared was unspoken and unbreakable; one that had kept her at his side throughout his insane antics and dangerous adventures. She couldn’t say he wasn’t handsome, either, especially on the rare occasions when he cleaned up and wore a suit. And sometimes, when he was being particularly heroic, maybe her heart would flutter a little bit, but she was sure that was purely admiration that her silly friend was willing to put everything on the line for what he believed in.
Finally, she settled on, “You’re my captain.”
“So, you wouldn’t marry a captain? But you said being a good husband is like being a good captain…”
“Luffy, explain yourself right here and now or I’ll tell Sanji-kun to only make vegetarian meals for a month!”
“I’m just…do you want to join Law’s crew?”
“What?!” Shocking as the question was, Luffy not calling him Tora-o nearly short-circuited her brain. Even though she’d mostly dropped the silly nickname, the rubber man insisted on using it no matter how much it annoyed the doctor. Heck, it was probably the exact reason why he kept it up. It was pretty amusing to see how flustered and grumpy Law got over something so silly.
Using his proper name meant that Luffy wasn’t joking around.
He rubbed his arm nervously as he stared at the ground like a scolded puppy. “I know he’s smarter and more serious than me, and you’re always complaining about how I attract trouble, and his powers are a lot better at keeping you safe and are great for stealing treasure…”
Seeing her normally happy-go-lucky captain so pensive diminished some of her anger, and her fingers fell away from his shirt. “Luffy, there’s no way in hell that I’m leaving the Straw Hats, not even for Law-kun. And what’s any of that got to do with marrying you?”
“Well, Sanji’s been crying about how someday he’s gonna ask you to be his wife and steal you away from us. Whenever he shows up, you always make time for him, even though you always say you’re too busy to play with us. Then Usopp said Law told him he’s gonna marry you and you’ll have sixteen kids together and—”
“Usopp’s a damn liar and Sanji-kun’s completely overreacting! I’m sorry if I haven’t been spending as much time with you, but you’re being ridiculous!”
Earnest black eyes finally met hers. “But last time he came by, I heard you call him ‘Captain Law.’ You don’t call me ‘Captain Luffy.’”
Red bloomed across her cheeks. She only called her lover “Captain Law” when they were roleplaying; he’d be the enemy pirate threatening her crew unless she convinced him to spare their lives. Luffy must have overheard them last time Law’d cornered her in the cargo hold. She really hoped that was all he’d heard. Law loved dirty talk, and he got particularly graphic when she called him “Captain.” She’d nearly died of mortification when Robin had stumbled across them one time. If her dim-witted, loose-lipped captain had been eavesdropping…
Oblivious to her embarrassment, Luffy continued, “I mean, I get you two are together, but he’s always talked about stealing you away. It’s my job to protect you in every way I can.” There was a flash of fear in his eyes as his fists clenched. “Rayleigh said not every problem can be solved by beating people up, though. So, I thought if I married you first, no one could take you away, and I’d stay your captain. Sanji said we needed to do something fast before you got your heart stolen, otherwise you’ll be under his spell! I didn’t know Tora-o could use magic!”
I’m going to kill Sanji-kun, she thought viciously. Maybe Law, too. I told him we needed to be more discrete! Surprisingly, she wasn’t really that mad at Luffy anymore; she was almost impressed that he was trying to solve a problem with his head, not his fists. Plus, his reasons were so stupidly sincere it was almost like getting mad at a child. “Look, Law-kun and I might be in a relationship, but even if he asked me to join his crew, I’d stay with you; the Straw Hats are my nakama, remember?”
“But if we got married, he wouldn’t even ask. He’d know you’re a Straw Hat forever.”
“He does know it; I made that very clear to him when you two were constantly forcing me to wear your hats.” She owed Law an apology, though. He’d insisted Luffy was staking a claim on her, yet she’d brushed off his concern as petty jealousy. He was possessive and paranoid, but for once, it seemed justified.
Actually, no, she wasn’t going to apologize. If she admitted he had been right, he’d be insufferable for months and there was the high probability that he really would kidnap her.
Her reassurance wasn’t as effective as she’d like. “He’s not the only one who might take you away, though. Lots of guys want you, like Absolom and Sanji’s brothers, and Shiki tried to make you join his crew because you’re such a great navigator.” Ducking his head, the brim of his hat cast his eyes in shadow as he whispered, “I used to think I was strong enough to protect everyone, but I was wrong. I couldn’t stop Kuma from sending away my nakama. I couldn’t save Ace. I don’t want to lose you, too.”
Her heart bled a little at his voice. She’d never seen him so insecure. He was always so happy-go-lucky, but this must have been eating at him for a while. Yes, Law was more serious and imposing and intelligent, whose crew was obedient and would never dream of talking back like the Straw Hats did to Luffy. When people looked at him, no one questioned whether or not he was the captain. He was a sharp dresser, devilishly handsome, quick-witted and exuded cool confidence. One could even argue he had cooler powers, and he could use a sword, and he was a doctor. To the untrained eye, Law was everything Luffy wasn’t.
She was suddenly reminded of something Luffy had said back at Arlong Park.
“I can’t use swords! I don’t know how to navigate a ship! And I can’t cook! Or lie! And I’m pretty sure I can’t live without being helped!”
At the time, those words had been a statement of defiance, proclaiming that he was ok with his weaknesses because he was strong enough to beat the Fishman, but a lot had happened since then. Was he scared of losing people because he knew he needed them? Or was he scared because those limitations might be what cost him the people he loved? If he’d been a little stronger, or a little faster, or had powers like Law’s, would they have been separated back in Sabaody? Would Ace still be alive?
Nami wanted to hit him and hug him at the same time. How dare he question her loyalty? How dare she not notice one of her closest companions had been hurting?
One thing was certain; she definitely had to make more time for this idiot if he thought she wanted to leave.
She settled for squeezing his shoulder comfortingly, promising, “Being someone’s wife would never affect my loyalties. I swore a long time ago I’d help make you Pirate King; after all you did to save me from Arlong, it’s the least I can do. So you don’t need to marry me, Luffy. Besides, you shouldn’t marry someone you aren’t in love with.”
“Robin says that plenty of people have gotten married without being in love to strengthen alliances,” he replied with a grimace. “It’s everywhere in her books. And Tora-o always insists we’re in an alliance…”
It was shit like this that made Nami all the more annoyed that Law refused to just admit he and Luffy were friends. “Well, that’s not for us. He’d be an absolute idiot to suggest it, because he knows you wouldn’t just hand me over like that. It’ll be a cold day in Hell when I let a couple of reckless, stubborn captains use me as a bargaining chip.”
Her stern declaration seemed to help him relax, though he still looked thoughtful. “You said you shouldn’t marry someone you don’t love, but you didn’t say you wouldn’t marry Tora-o.” Dark eyes stared at her curiously. “Do you love him?”
“Wha—I don’t know, Luffy!” she said, exasperated. “I mean, we only just accepted we’re in a relationship and not just sleeping together.” She really wasn’t sure what she felt for the dark doctor. In the beginning, it was just sex, but the more they ran into each other, the more she found herself enjoying his company even when he didn’t have her pinned to the nearest flat surface. Once she got past the creepiness, he was pleasant company; she enjoyed hearing about his adventures with his crew and even some of the medical procedures he’d done in the past, so long as he didn’t get into the gory details. Whenever she talked about weather patterns or natural phenomena, he never brushed off her explanations as “a mystery” and at least tried to pay attention. Lately, she especially liked how he’d quietly read in the library while she worked on maps with Bepo or kept her company while she picked her mikans, content to just be in her presence. She even found herself missing him at random times, wishing she could just hear his voice or see that cocky smirk.
Was that love? Did Law feel the same warm contentedness when she was around, the same ache when she was gone? Or was he less attached, simply pleased to have a gorgeous and intelligent bedmate to make his alliance with Luffy more tolerable?
She really didn’t like the way her chest tightened at that thought. This kind of introspection was way too heavy for what should have been a nice, relaxing shopping trip; it was much better suited for a late-night glass of wine with Robin. Given Luffy’s now-apparent fear that she’d leave him for Law, he was definitely not the right person to discuss her confused feelings with.
“Whether or not we’re in love, I don’t see marriage on the horizon anytime soon,” she assured, though her smile didn’t quite reach her eyes. “They call it the old ‘ball and chain’ for a reason. Getting married to anyone would totally cramp my style! Wedding rings especially repel the dumb creeps in bars I like to steal from. So, quit worrying so much, ok?”
More astute than she gave him credit for, he didn’t buy her forced cheer. “It’s just—I don’t want you to leave, but I also don’t want you getting left.” For a moment, Nami swore she could hear Luffy’s teeth grind together. “Back in Fuchsia, a few people started calling Makino-chan terrible names. The mayor said it was because she loved someone who left her behind, and he didn’t marry her first. Ace offered to marry her so they’d stop, but she turned him down, so we beat them up instead.”
An understanding frown touched her lips. “Are people calling me names?” If they were, there would be hell to pay.
“I heard Tora-o call you a few of them.”
“When?”
“When I heard you call him ‘Captain.’”
Her blush returned tenfold as she screamed inside her head. “Ok, Luffy, Law-kun has permission to call me those names, but only when I call him ‘Captain.’ It’s…kind of a game we play.” She really had no interest in explaining the ins-and-outs of her and the Surgeon of Death’s dirty talk and roleplay to the rubber man. Hell, she’d been uncomfortable enough explaining it to Robin, and she knew for a fact the older woman was into way kinkier stuff. “But I absolutely understand why that upsets you, so if you ever hear it again, just stop listening and walk away. Preferably to the other side of the ship.” Mainly because Nami was certain, if the hard look in his eye was anything to go by, Luffy would beat the crap out of her lover if he didn’t. Which was sweet, she had to admit.
“It’s a game?”
Nodding emphatically, she replied, “Yes, it’s a special, secret game only he and I know about, and it can only be played with two people.”
Luffy actually rolled his eyes. “I know you’re having sex, Nami. I’m not stupid.”
He laughed as she buried her face in her hands, the beet red tips of her ears clashing horribly with her copper hair. “Shishishi! Rayleigh told me there are people who are into some pretty weird stuff, so I shouldn’t judge, but it’s ok to step in if I think someone’s getting hurt. If you’re ok with Tora-o saying that stuff, I promise not to punch him for it. I just wanted to make sure he wasn’t being mean to you!”
“Thank you,” was her muffled response. She wasn’t sure if she should be grateful that his mentor had taught him about sex or horrified. The old man was kind of a pervert, but at least she didn’t have to treat Luffy like a little kid. Taking a deep, steadying breath, she managed to meet his eyes. “I swear, I’m ok with it so long as it’s in private. If you ever hear him or anyone else call me stuff like that in public, though, bash their face in.”
“Can do!” he said enthusiastically, toothy grin once again splitting his face. Rubber arms wrapped around her, pulling her against his chest in a near-crushing hug. “I don’t want you to leave, but I promised Genzo I’d never break your heart. If you want to marry Law…”
Despite the blush lingering on her cheeks, a small, warm smile curved her lips. “I’ll tell you what, Luffy; traditionally, if a guy wants to marry someone, they have to ask her father for permission. Genzo’s the closest thing I’ve ever had to a dad, but there’s no way Law would go all the way to the East Blue for that. So, as my captain, I’m letting you stand in for him.”
“So, if Law doesn’t get my permission, he can’t marry you?”
Normally, Nami was the sort of woman who would be annoyed at the idea that any man felt he could dictate her love life, but for Luffy, she’d make an exception. If it eased his fears and ensured she would never have to deal with this conversation again, she didn’t mind so much. It would probably be a moot point, anyway; Law didn’t seem the marrying type, and while she wasn’t against the idea, at the moment she was more interested in having adventures and fulfilling her dream.
Still, that didn’t quite dispel the image of her walking down the aisle in a beautiful white dress with a handsome, tattooed doctor waiting for her.
A loud growl interrupted the moment, and Luffy pulled away, rubbing his head bashfully.
“I know I said I wouldn’t mention meat…”
“Well, things seem to have calmed down, so let’s get you some food,” Nami laughed, pulling him out of the alley. “I’ll even treat, just this once.”
“Really?!”
“Within reason, and only because it’s cheaper than a wedding banquet.”
It didn’t escape her notice that a certain straw hat was plopped onto her head by the time they reached the food vendor, nor did it escape Luffy’s that she kept it on the rest of the day.

Chapter 865 Thoughts
yoyoyo I haven’t done this one in a while sooooo here you go
1. PEROSPEROOOOOO
Seriously, I’m quite thankful for Perospero. I am so thankful  that he doesn’t give a fuck about Katakuri’s warning. If he did, the Vinsmokes would be goners by now. But NO. He still continues on his preaching. I don’t think he even wants to kill them, he’s just there to smear them with shit-talk until BM will go cray-cray.
He never thought someone in God mode would appear.
still love him, tho.
2. IT’S GOING DOWN
I have some people I’m betting to have BM’s wrath after all of this.
First is of course: Brûlée.
Tumblr media
Brûlée is aware of her fate. Caesar’s logic here is plausible, and it’s actually already figured out by Katakuri. I’m pretty sure Brûlée won’t just wait and let herself get killed. She’ll probably bail or something.
Secondly: Pudding.
Tumblr media
It’s plausible, considering the fact that she visibly failed to perform her role on the assassination plot. Daifuku’s words here can indicate that she may incur BM’s anger due to her failure. If anything, maybe Pudding’s siblings themselves would punish her, and in the worst-case scenario… take her life
And yooooooo: has anyone seen Opera? HAHA
Mont-d’Or realized about Opera’s lies, and is probably going to relay this to his mother. But he’s nowhere to be found at the tea party at least. Opera probably knows what’s waiting for him if ever he stays so he’d bail too I guess.
There’s also Praline and Chiffon. Lola’s already a given, but Chiffon is more likely than Praline to be punished or killed. Brûlée knows about Chiffon’s treachery, but then again she’s doubted herself. Praline only follows her husband because they know about Jimbei’s plans, but who knows what might happen?
3. Katakuri
Tumblr media
Charlotte Katakuri or Dogtooth was introduced as one of the Three Sweet Commanders, and most likely to be the strongest out of all of them due to his ridiculously high bounty that’s higher than Jack the Drought. Hell, he shot a person with a jellybean. He can also see a bit into the future. Surely, he’s going to be a tough opponent.
But as you can see, even on the previous chapters, Katakuri has been constantly failing at stopping the chaos. He might be the first one to predict about the craziness but he can’t do anything. This chain of events can be disappointing, but I’m still optimistic about him.
I’m guessing he would have a clash with  Luffy and do considerable damage to him. Take note that passed through Bege, Pedro and Jimbei by himself, without taking major damage. If anything, I don’t think he was damaged at all. This still speaks for his strength as a fighter.
This might suggest that I speculate an incoming war. Why do I think there would be some kind of war?
4. The assassination plot might fail
The Straw Hat-Fire Tank alliance’s plot has been sailing a bit smoothly since the beginning of the Tea Party, with a little miscalculation here and there. Now, I don’t think Big Mom would die in just a mere five seconds. She’s a Yonko, she plays a big part in the current saga…well, the Yonko saga. She’s an important character, and I really don’t believe she’d die just like that. Hell, we’re even getting flashbacks for her backstory.
How do I think this assassination might fail?
The KX launchers. One of those launchers has poison that’s more than enough to kill a person. That’s good logic because they highly considered Big Mom to be very durable and most likely invulnerable to damage. One of those is packed with instant death, and they managed to have three.
However, I think it’s a big mistake to use all three at the same time. What if they missed or something? What would they use then?
Also, the mirror. Many speculate that the mirror will shatter upon contact with BM’s Conqueror’s Haki/alien-like scream. Caesar managed to bring the mirror they’d use to escape but we don’t know what happened to it after BM screamed.
Those are just some of the common plausible factors about the assassination’s failure. There are those who say that Luffy and Big Mom will end up having a truce. This is unlikely, but still arguable. If you consider the fact that Luffy doesn’t end up killing his enemies, if anything he makes allies out of them, then the ending of the WCI arc being a truce is still a possibility… though it won’t sit well with Bege and probably Caesar too. What’s most likely is that Luffy will kick BM’s ass… but probably not in this arc? Who knows?
Anyways, I firmly believe that the assassination will fail. This will end up being an all-out war between the Charlotte family and the Big Mom pirates against the Straw Hat-Fire Tank alliance. The Vinsmokes might either be a neutral party or an enemy of the BM pirates, since they were betrayed after all.
But I have that gut feeling somebody will die… or a huge decision will be made. I strongly hope it’s not Sanji leaving the crew, because NO.

OP Chapter 854
And I’m right on time this week! Procrastinating on final papers and shit, admittedly, but still.
Nami’s just riding on top of Jinbe. Which. I find kinda disturbing? It inadvertently brings to mind the image of Jinbe as a slave. And he never was one himself, but some of the Sun Pirates sure as hell were.
Poor Chopper.
Big Mam has massive abandonment issues, is what this whole rigged roulette of death tells me.
POOR BROOK. Reduced to a hanging ornament.
And here we have Brook’s (nonexistent) brain working!
I’m sure some Evil Overlord rule is being violated here. Thou shalt not discuss thy evil plans with thy evil daughter while hanging onto thy enemy like a toy.
The absolute worse thing about Big Mam’s plot is if it wasn’t for Sanji’s romantic streak leading to him finding out the truth, Pudding really would’ve nailed him right between the eyes.
Ugh, why does the gross gag have to be used as an important plot point? MULTIPLE TIMES???
Big Mam is a psycho. We all knew that, but the bloodshot eyes is the icing on top of the psycho cake.
...are we sure that’s Sanji though? Would Sanji reeeeeally fall asleep in his own room while he knows people are gunning for him?
HAH.
That moment when your plans fail because your children-underlings are incompetent af.
THAT MOMENT WHEN N O N E OF YOUR UNDERLINGS ARE COMPETENT.
Oh, Sanji. You can’t forget your family. And you’re trying so hard to convince yourself that you can.
Oh no he’s doing the burying-face-on-knees thing and I just want to hug him.
SANJI YOU’RE AN IDIOT. MARTYRDOM RUNS STRONG IN THE FAMILY. FIRST REIJU, THEN YOU.
Hell, Sanji’s always had a martyr streak in him. You could say that things began with Zeff, but they really didn’t. Zeff sacrificed himself, no doubt about that, but he made damn sure he was going to do his best to survive. But then Sanji wants to repay that debt with his life. Nah, the actual martyr complex starts with Sanji.
“Forget them,” he says. “Luffy and the others can make it out of here by themselves,” he says. Then dropkicks the hungry guard who wants Luffy’s food. Admit it, kid, you’re too attached to your crazy fam.
There goes half the wall.
I know the self-sacrificing bullshit isn’t over yet, but hey Sanji, use that beautiful brain of yours again. Realize that none of the Straw Hats are gonna let you go no matter how much you beg. Robin can testify to that.
I liked this chapter! Incompetency among Big Mam’s ranks and Sanji appears again! It was a good time.

Thoughts about chapter 852
Tumblr media
So, the newest chapter is out and as expected, there was no escape from the feels. This time it’s not about the bad things but because there is finally some hope for Sanji. This review is mainly focused on Sanji and Reiju but let’s start with Luffy and others.
So, Jinbe sets the place on fire letting Luffy and Nami escape from their cell. They are so happy to be free and readers are happy that Luffy still has his hands with him even though the tooth is still gone but I guess it’ll never grow back. After a small adrenaline rush Luffy falls down on the ground due the hunger. For understandable reasons he is hungry but but still not willing to stop from looking out for Sanji. He wants to rush and warn him and there he goes even when the castle is filled with enemies. Nami and Jinbe were left behind and it’s interesting to see will they follow Luffy or not. I hope Luffy gets help sooner or later because now he is facing enemies all alone and  he needs energy...
Tumblr media
This piece of action was too much for Nami’s dress which is now ripped off (nuu , my favorite outfit :<<) and she changes it with a randomness dude. This leaves to the question what was popping out in OJ forum while talking with fellow SaNami fans but we know now that Pudding has 2 dresses for the wedding (she first chose 1 by herself but her mom didn’t like it so she had to take another one, chosen by BM). Now that she has only the clothes stolen from beaten guy I wonder if she’d go look out for clothes and found Pudding’s dress or borrows her clothes in general? At least now she has similiar saggy pants Pudding wore back in her cafe.
Tumblr media
By the way, like said already in previous chapter Sanji has clearly now made his desicion and chose his friends over Pudding.  Instead of leaving it in front of her door he took that basket full of food with him and it’s now just matter of time when he is able to hand to Luffy. I wonder how their meeting will be though. I mean Luffy will be so happy but Sanji might be really ashamed of what he has done and even might try to avoid the eye contact.
Tumblr media
Moving to the hearbreaking part of this chapter, the discussion between Sanji and Reiju who are not at the infirmary. Reiju has just woken up and Sanji explains her what is going on and what Pudding did. I am so glad to see that his sister is having faith on him and no speculating anything. She even stated that Pudding was too good to be true which means she had her own doubts as well. Their relationship has been quite unclear to me because on the other hand Reiju cares a lot but then she also accpted all the abuse and stuff. However now we know that she really didn’t want to but since she is genetically modified so that she can’t disobey Judge she can’t help some things.
Sanji breaks down realizing how his plans of “following Mama’s lead” has not paid off at all. I really admire how strong Sanji can be. He has never being hesistant about putting his friends before him but and always thought about then when making plans and there has never been the situation where he’d abandon anyone who is in need of help. This is probably the first time his plans have failed and now he has to face realities, Mama is not worth to trust on and his sacrifice would not be handy at all.
People are still commenting that Sanji is a really weak character which is nowhere near the truth. I mean how would you feel yourself  being in a excact situation with excact characeristic traits? (overly kind, self sacrificial etc). In addition you had a tough background like his being unappreciated and almost needed to fight for the existence? Then after years when you thought everything would be ok after leaving the hell you had to face your family you’ve tried to avoided in a unexected situation like this where you are heavily blackmailed and can’t practically do a thing. Then seeing unexpectly your friends and being forced to banish them out in order to keep them safe, wouldn’t that hurt you too? And then you hit the rock bottom being hopeless romantic who thought that “the chosen one” would be in love is deceiving you and on top of that, plannng to murder your family. It’s not as easy as it seems, really.
Tumblr media
I love how adulthood has made Reiju so mature and even though she is supposed to be cold she doesn’t make fun out of Sanji when she is seeing him being fragile from times. Reiju was the only one from Sanji’s siblings who actually felt uneasy when Sanji went against Luffy. Unlike his brothers who were enjoying every moment and when he bursted into tears in that wagon after beating Luffy half dead the kept on having fun.
Tumblr media
Reiju is now offering a chance for Sanji to escape with his crew mates and leaving Germa dying in BM’s hands telling that they all deserve to die. Sanji in understandable a bit schocked and worried about Baratie which is held as hostage but Reiju tells that Sanji should not worry about her, they are supposed to be born as unfeeling machines after all like she said. She tells Sanji a memory from chilhood she has never forgotten, something that reveals a lot about their mother. We see a flashback where Judge and his wife, are having an major argument. Sora/Sola is not ok at all with the idea that their children are modified as cold hearted killing machines. She finds this idea extremely wrong and unethical and she is looking excactly like Reiju without swirl in that panel. Then we find out that she was forced to that surgery but she decided to end Judges insanity by taking some sort of drug that would prevent the gene modification. Sanji was the only one from the brothers who was not affected by Judge’s works that badly, he showed some emotions what annoyed Judge but made Sora/Sola so happy.
Tumblr media
Before moving on with the storyline let me comment few things.  First of all I can’t be the only one who is even more despised by Judge’s appearence. I mean it’s really horrible to think about the fact that he put his crazy ambition over his children and wife and dares even to fight about it. Secondly, Sora Vinsmoke is so lovable and brave. Imagine, she stood against his husband’s will and sacrificed herself trying to provide their children some kindness. Also she did never abandon Sanji and always valued his humanity. There is no doubt where Sanji has inherited his big heart of gold :’) but what breaks my heart is that Judge put Sanji in jail which means he wasn’t able to to visit his mother that often in her last days. I wonder did Reiju or Judge ever told that he was imprisioned?
Tumblr media
After re-reading the chapter I also wonder what in the world has their mother seen on Judge. Yes maybe he has been much nicer before kids and simply became too obsessed with his dreams but somehow also a political marriage wouldn’t be counted out from the choices. He did love his wife indeed because he grieved her loss and put the blame on poor Sanji who has done nothing wrong.
Tumblr media
Thirdly, this panel made my day, along with Reijus upcoming comments.  just look at this toddler with the sweetest smile that ever existed on earth ! (he did not only inherit her beautiful smile but also her beautiful nature !)
Tumblr media
Sanji is now in such a shock hearing the backstory blaming himself like usual but Reiju is comforting him. Telling that their mother didn’t think it that way, she was so glad to see that not all their children became senseless soon-to-be-warriors and there is definitely no doubt how much she loved Sanji, unlike Judge.
Tumblr media
Then Reiju says something important to Sanji, something that he should’ve heard since he was a child. Something that he definitely deserves to hear:
Tumblr media
There are by the way now at least two things that Oda keeps postponing. First, the whisper of Vito. This is something he hides a lot which means there will be more secrets revealed ! Unless it’s something we’ve already seen but haven’t paid much attention on. Secondly, the reconciliation of Sanji and Nami. When Luffy rushed to go to see Sanji he told Jinbei to take care of Nami assuming that he wants to meet him first (no wonder, he is hungry and wants to see if he is alright) and he didn’t take Nami with him. That doesn’t mean she wouldn’t follow him with Jinbei but still.  This is again some biased point of view but I think the only reason their reunion keeps moving forward is that Oda has prepared something big for them. Again, not necessarily romantic even though that would be a fangirl dream come true but maybe there will be a deep moment between Sanji and Nami when they talk things over.
Tumblr media
Anyways, Reiju is kind of right about that at least half of this planet thinks that Vinsmokes deserve to die, at least Judge and Sanji’s brothers but that’s again just writer’s opinion and some conclusion after seeing the dashboard. She also feels guilty about things and tells that she deserves to die along the others but Sanji is strongly disagreeing telling that he doesn’t want to let them die, no matter how much he hates his father and brothers. Also he finds it hard to let go of Reiju, she has been his savior all this time after all.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s now all up to Sanji how this plot will keep on going ! My guess is that no matter how much he’d love to he refuses to leave and fights for Reiju’s sake but this is just a guess and seems like we have to wait a while until we get answers.

One Piece 852 Thoughts
These are some of my thoughts after reading One Piece Chapter 852.
Going back to the chapter parallels, Chapter 53 is the first chapter that we actually see Sanji fight (his fight with Fullbody was off-paneled in the manga). It’s also when the Baratie’s ultimate weapon (Sabagashira #1) is revealed, and Sanji kind of takes charge of defending the Baratie.
So I wonder if that means next chapter we’ll finally see Sanji take some action? I hope so, but I always expect Sanji to do something the next chapter, and it always turns out to be too early. Since he finally admitted that he was naive to think that he could sacrifice himself and marry Pudding to save his friends, I hope this is the turning point in the arc for him.
Overall, I really liked the chapter, even though it was a relatively calm transition after all the crazy revelations that we got in the past few weeks. We still got a lot of important information -- and this chapter was packed full with info -- and also an emotional scene between Sanji and Reiju.
Sanji and Reiju
I really loved this scene, because the relationship between Reiju and Sanji was always kind of an enigma to me. I always felt there was more to their relationship than was shown earlier, and that Sanji cared more about Reiju than he expressed. In spite of the fact that Reiju and Sanji’s last parting during their childhood was very emotional (with Reiju rescuing little Sanji from his cage, and both of them parting in tears) we didn’t get any touching reunion between them and Sanji was even pretty cold to his sister when we first saw them together. So I always wanted to know how these two really felt about each other. Overall, I really love Reiju but her character was really mysterious and I’m glad I finally got to know how she really felt about Sanji, their mother, and the Germa kingdom.
I loved seeing Sanji’s mother again, and it’s interesting that her name is Sora/Sola ( ソラ ), which means “sky” in Japanese (according to my friend, it also means “seashell” in Korean?). It’s also the same name as the hero in the comics that Vito mentioned. According to Vito, this Sora fought against the evil Germa army and could walk on water, and had a seagull and robot sidekick (when I think of transforming robot, somehow I think of Franky and Vegapunk :)). I wonder if the seagull is important? All I could find was that it’s a scavenger, very opportunistic, and the “gull” comes from “gullible” because seagulls swallow anything you put in their beak. They also stand for freedom.
It’s interesting that the comic Sora can walk on water, because Judge wanted his children to become superhumans. I think it’s fitting since both Soras fought against Judge and the Germa kingdom (it would be cool if Sora could actually walk on water). Anyways, I wonder if this possible connections between the 2 Soras will become important later.
I think it’s pretty sad that Sora was so happy that Sanji told her to get well again (to the point she was crying like a baby and calling him such a good kid), because telling their sick mother to get better is something any normal child would say.
It seems like self-sacrificing tendencies run in this family, and Sanji must have gotten his sacrificial traits from his mother. Not only did Sora sacrifice her life for her children, but now Reiju is planning on dying with Germa, and putting Sanji’s life before hers. The three of them are so alike, and yet so different from Judge and his other sons (who use their soldiers as human shields to die for them). Why did Sora marry Judge in the first place??
Sanji’s kindness is really emphasized a lot in this arc. After all the emphasis on his kindness, I feel like it wouldn’t make sense for him to leave Reiju, or even the rest of the Vinsmokes, to their death. Sanji hasn’t really been the type to just leave people to their death.
Also, I think it’s important that Reiju said she was investigating Pudding and was suspicious of Pudding all along, because she was too good to be true. This kind of adds weight to Pudding being really evil for me, because I don’t think Reiju would have been suspicious of her for no reason. If Oda makes Pudding a good person, then it will make Reiju look pretty stupid, for suspecting an innocent person for no reason. It also kind of explains why Pudding shot Reiju , even though Reiju is supposed to die during the wedding. Reiju was probably caught snooping around by Pudding (and maybe found out something that would endanger Big Mom’s wedding plans), and the latter had to immobilize her and alter her memory. I know some people think Pudding shot Reiju to mess up the wedding plans, but I think Pudding had to shoot Reiju, to prevent Big Mom’s wedding plans from getting messed up.
Well, next time I see a character in OP who seems too good to be true, I guess that means I should be suspicious of them.
I also love how Sanji can be so stealthy, that he snuck onto Pudding’s balcony (probably) unnoticed, and now took out the infirmary guard and snuck into Reiju’s hospital room without anyone noticing in a castle where Homies are watching everything, but in the meantime, Luffy is raising a huge ruckus running around and yelling for Sanji.
Luffy, Nami, and Jinbei
Switching to Luffy, Nami, and Jinbei -- I’m kind of sad they burned the book, but I hope the other prisoners were also able to escape. It’s probably better to set the prisoners free and create some chaos, so that the Strawhats can escape more easily later.
Nami got a new outfit. I’m a little sad, because her WCI little dirndl dress was one of my favorites from her. I like that she gets to wear different costumes in this arc, rather than just bikinis, because I love seeing Nami cosplay (Note: I just realized she has her hair in 2 ponytails, kind of like Pudding...is this a coincidence?). Her new outfit seems to be stolen from a soldier and look like overalls? It’s not as cutesy as her dress, but she still looks cute in it (Oda has been making her look really pretty lately). And it’s probably easier to move around and fight in, so I’m wondering if this is a sign that she’s getting a fight soon. I’m sure Usopp didn’t upgrade her climatact for no reason so I’m hoping we’ll really see her use her new moves this arc.
Besides, out of the Strawhats, we had:
Luffy (w/ Nami’s help) vs Cracker (winner: Luffy)
Chopper and Carrot vs Brulee (winner: Chopper/Carrot)
Luffy & Nami vs Enraged Army(winner: Enraged Army)
Brook vs Big Mom
Pedro vs Tamago.
This leaves Nami. She was an essential help during the Luffy vs Cracker fight and really put up a fight against the Enraged Army. She was really badass and useful this arc, but Oda offscreened a lot of her moves, so we didn’t really get to see her using her new climatact. I feel like this means she’s going to take down someone (hopefully). Since there’s so many women on Big Mom’s crew, it’ll probably be a female? Maybe Smoothie, since we haven’t seen her fight yet either, or Pudding, whose fighting skills we still don’t know a lot of? At this point, I can’t really tell.
And Luffy -- somebody, Sanji! please feed this boy! His hunger is brought up again this chapter, and I really feel it’s time for him to get some food. I hope he’s the first one to run into Sanji and eat that bento.
One more thing: it seems like most of the obstacles Sanji has been facing, are being almost magically removed in this chapter. But the way Oda seems to be tying things up so smoothly makes me nervous. I get the feeling that something really awful is going to happen to throw everything off again. Also, since this chapter didn’t end on a huge cliffhanger, and we have a break next week, I kind of get the feeling that Chapter 853 might bring some kind of huge plot twist.
Vito’s whisper?
Also, we still didn’t get confirmation about what Vito whispered into Sanji’s ear, back in Zou. I think the whole head-in-the-box threat that Pekoms mentioned could be a red herring from Oda to throw the readers off, and Vito’s threat is something that us readers either don’t know about, or something almost impossible for us to predict. We had 2 whispers in 2016 -- Pudding’s whisper to Luffy and Nami, and then Vito’s whisper to Sanji. Although Sanji’s reaction to Vito’s whisper was not as shocking as Luffy and Nami’s reactions to Pudding’s whisper, Pudding’s whisper was revealed only 2 chapters later, while Vito’s whisper has still been unrevealed for almost a year. Seeing how shocking Pudding’s whisper turned out to be, it’s possible Vito’s whisper is going to be something really shocking. But either way, even if Sanji’s cuffs are fake and Big Mom really doesn’t care about Zeff’s life, the Vito threat could still be an important threat for Sanji.
Anyways, Oda’s chapters are usually fabulous when we come back from break, so I have very high expectations for OP 853.
