I get this pushback consistently every time I complain about some sort of media. "your expectations are too high" "you should just let yourself enjoy it" "not everything can be perfect". and it's this mentality that bugs me more tbh
all I'm asking for is effort and quality. yes I'm a fairly critical consumer of media but truly I think we should all be. we've come to a point where studios and producers and companies can get away with bare minimum effort, eschewing all quality and propping their work up through virtua signaling and strategic marketing alone, but how many of these things are actually good?
you look at rings of power and see how cheaply made it is in comparison to the original trilogy from over a decade ago. how jackson's trilogy still stands the test of time because there was so much care and effort put into the quality and craftsmanship of them. and then you see this show and you know it's barely going to hold up a year in spite of its massive budget. the costumes are cheap, the storytelling is trite. it has no heart.
and they get away with this because we don't demand more. because people say "just let people enjoy things" anytime someone has a valid criticism. but if we don't have higher expectations and we keep just consuming this low effort stuff, they're going to continue to make worse and worse projects because it's cheaper and easier and the profits remain the same so why not?
#drives me nuts#its very true of kpop as well in many instances#because people preorder the albums and stuff regardless#the quality of a lot of 4th gen groups has really tanked in comparison to older generations in terms of the efforts the companies put in#a lot of things are better in some senses#but...idk the landscape has just changed so much#it has always been visually based and appearance has always mattered but now it seems even MORE important#a group like btob would never survive if they started today despite them being one of the most talented groups vocal wise#ah well this is my 8am rant#mads.txt

I need companies to just put all the photocards from an album era in a bundle type thing and just slap a price on that hoe because buying individual photocards will make me homeless if I keep it up
#dumb fuck ted talk#but not so dumb this time#bc yeah. one pc per album is a thing that sells albums#but they could just grab all the pcs and list it separately. and make all the pob pcs only available during preorder and more expensive#maybe *even more* expensive if people want them past preorder dates#tell me i'm wrong#they'd make more money selling the cards themselves than individual albums#am i just mad at how much i just spent on cards? yes#but am i wrong? no#pcs sell for so much and companies have yet to find out how to bank on that#like. i'm sick and tired man 😭#i hate my life#kpop problems#rain's daily issue

i’m feeling very emotional right now 🥹
#i just pre-ordered my svt fml album#and it’s signed#not only will this be the second signed album i’ve ever purchased#(& my first piece of svt signed merch)#but it’s also my first svt preorder#and my fourth cb with my sebenies#it might be that it’s my time of the month#or that today was just a really wacky day in all aspects#but i just feel so thankful to get to love my sebenies & to get to watch them grow so so much#there’s a special type of pride i have for being a carat#and it’s because they’re 1) the group i got into kpop through & 2)therefore the group i’ve loved the longest#although i’m not going into the music creation industry anymore#i still will be working in music professionally#and i still write lyrics#and in general have been changed by seventeen in the best ways#so svt are a huge inspiration to me in every aspect of my life#this is long & i’m tired & emotional#but the point is :#i love seventeen so much and it’s an honor to be a carat#svt💗#fml🤍💙

I would feel awful if I went on my own though because Yoongi is her bias and I would just be thinking about wanting her to be there. But it's probably a better idea than going with them because I'll just be a third wheel. I guess I have a couple weeks to figure out what I'm doing, assuming that either of us get presale.

the vhs version of gasoline is out of stock already at the small ass online kpop shop i usually use and it went in stock at 6:40 this morning (i had an email alert) and its not even 10:30 yet lmmaaoooo. good for key but!!!!
#the other shop i use which has more expensive shipping which is why i usually don't have it also doesn't have it in stock#but at least they have a restock date and i can actually purchase it!#if i had known this would happen i would have just preordered the go to stop doesn't do preorders though#i've NEVER had anything be sold out day of release?? go off key i guess#serves my ass right for getting out of bed so late i guess#anyway now i can get advice too i guess bc i've been wanting it and the go to stop has it out of stock#and they don't usually restock older things#using old loosely here they'll restock around release dates but after that they usually don't and its been out of stock a while#the other alternative is that i go into the city and physically visit the kpop store and hope they have it#which would be the quickest way to obtain said albums but heck they're expensive#even with this other shop where shipping is more i think it comes out less than if i get it in store#but by GOD is shipping expensive at this store its literally more than the 4 albums i have in cart hahahahaha#i don't mind paying for shipping it just bugs me when shipping is more than the product#a 5th album would probably be the tipping point where the shipping is now less than the albums#but tbh there isn't anything else i really want and buying albums just to buy albums isnt as satisfying as getting albums you actually want#i've written an essay in the tags again RIP to me#still haven't decided what to do lol#also please note that yes it is 10:45 by the time i posted this and that's because i spent a good 20 minutes clicking around kpop stores#and writing these tags#i just don't want to try a new store honestly i'd rather do one of the ones i trust (which is these two specific ones)#i know there are others out there but sigh

genuine question, i wanted to preorder hobi's and txt new albums through a local shop but i'm not sure if I should with the boycott of hybe going on. is it okay if i preorder the versions without the weverse benefits? but i don't know if the versions without it are still bought through weverse. or should i maybe wait until they have them in stock and this way i won't be putting money into hybe (at least not directly).
i want to support the boys but i'm not willing to put kpop over literal genocide
