On the one hand if I skipped straight to a PhD program that would in all likelihood be better for me financially because PhD programs cost a LOT less than master’s programs typically do, plus they can take 7 years to complete so I wouldn’t have to worry about figuring out what to do next until I’m in my 30s which is ridiculously appealing…….. on the other hand if I got my master’s FIRST and THEN my PhD I would 1. be in school for two years longer which is definitely a major plus and 2. I will have collected every level of degree (AA BA MA and PhD) like pokemon and that feels very very satisfying . So maybe a master’s program is my best bet. But god in heaven I don’t want to have to reapply to more grad schools in two years that’s intolerable

#NOT THAT ITS UP TO ME RN LOL I still need to get in. I don’t hear back from any of the programs I’m applying to PhD or MA until march #and even then it’s going to be a question of which program gives me the most money etc etc sooooo yeah that’s gonna be the deciding factor #but still. I feel like there are pros and cons to both outcomes #anyways here’s praying to god that the programs I get into will give me a fuckton of money 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞 or I’ll cry 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

Every year, I tell myself that I should really consider taking off work for Father Brown premiere day, and then it comes around and I forget to do it, and I spend all day thinking about how I would so much rather be sitting cozy under a million blankets and going back to Kembleford than being forced to do boring work things.

#father brown #honestly i miss the old release schedule model #i loved having just a nice little ep to look forward to every day for two (and sometimes three) full work weeks #now they just put them on iplayer all at once but only air one a week #so its the worst of both worlds #i either watch them all at once b/c i have no impulse control #but do so with the understanding that the fandom may be pacing themselves w/ one a week instead #OR #i force myself to slow down but am grumpy about it #b/c for years the bbc would give me the perfectly prescribed little dose of serotonin in early-jan just when i needed it #the old system was great; why did they change it #an ep a day for 2-3 weeks was just the best way to pace it #i know there's a former higher up at the beeb that just hates the show #b/c it's much more expensive to produce than the average daytime show --even it more than makes up for production costs #by being the single most exported show from the channel to foreign markets (yup even more than doctor who)#so i can't help but wonder if the new release model is an attempt to kill the show by some other bitter exec #well jokes on them cause it didn't work last year and i pray that it won't work this year as well #am a bit worried about the sister boniface spinoff's future ngl #i think i did hear that it was getting an s3 and i think britbox funding it rather than the been directly does help it #but still a bit worried

#dating is so so scary so often for me #because when it comes right down to it i can hold every other relationship at a certain comfortable distance #that i cannot maintain with The Boy and still actually grow #realized tonight that the idea of having him spend time with my family and having to see and hear their reactions to him #scares me so much im pretty sure it makes me shake a little bit when i thimk about it #and the thing is it's not because it's him specifically. most of my important non familial relationships would make me feel this way #its just i dont HAVE to introduce my friends to my parents. it doesnt matter if they never get comfortable with my family.#i can compartmentalize there.#but i can't with The Boy #not permanently. not if i want him actually in my life long term #honestly please pray for me about this. it scares me SO much and idk how to change that

i have deep desire to write for demon slayer (and by write for it im specifically talking about zenitsu currently.) but the story is so deeply impacted by it's setting that its gonna take at least two weeks of research to do it any justice so the plans r Delayed

#aristotle.txt #writing for my hero = easy because im insane and know every inch of it #writing for anything else = impossible #i figured trying to find fic for it was going to feel like this in the first place #from my limited understanding the story takes place in the events directly after japans first industrial revolution #which means that the advent of technology is not only integral to the story telling but there's also like an unreal #amount of sociopolitical context for most of the major details #writing for my hero is easy because a society post tech is very easy to imagine. we live in it lol #demon slayer in particular takes place during the emergence of industry #what makes zenitsu an interesting character to me is that his narration is influenced directly by his class and proximity to modernity #he has a specific level of cynicism i can only describe as post industrial. whether that be his sense of cowardice over tanjiro/inosuke #or his attitude towards women. the way he behaves and how he critically analyzes certain kinds of behavior #like im currently watching the entertainment district arc and i think inosukes reaction vs zenitsus pretty much exactly covers it #where inosuke is overstimulated and tanjiro is reserved - zenitsu recognizes the district for what it is. that quality makes him stand out #a lot among them at least to me. i love hearing him talk sooo much lmfao.#anyways. all that to say. i want to write zenitsu but i need to do more reading to make it any good so . pray for me i suppose #zenitsu the embodiment of men used to chop trees and go to war fr

i want to talk about the second category of nini solos in hsmtmts:

there’s the first category which are the songs written by the queen olivia rodrigo (all i want & the rose song)

and then there’s the other category which is the holy trinity of songs about nini’s future/self-discovery/dreams/idek which are out of the old, granted & you never know.

something non-negotiable for me with this category is that:

- out of the old is the curious younger sister

- granted is the underrated middle child

- you never know is the scared but brave oldest

Using the alternate start mod in skyrim is very nice from an rp perspective and a replay variety perspective, but it can also be really funny depending on what quests it ends up starting you near. My first completed quest line this file is Blood on the Ice. Before even hearing anything about dragons or an attack on Helgen, I have solved a months long murder case.

#which tbf i think is a fun start for a character whose thing is like. a thirst for knowledge. learning secrets and such. so good start for #my character! its just so funny #i got some new mods to really complete my rp experience so im doing a sort of definitive nirith file.#a mod that lets me worship a diety (chose azura but will probably switch to Hermaeus more when i have the chance)#and that mod that alters the racial abilities to make them a bit more interesting and stuff #so he can pray to azura at dusk and dawn and he can hear ghosts telling him to kill someone!#the first humanoid the whispers triggered on was calexo so it felt extremely fitting #*calixto #this is also going to be my most magic heavy version of him #and its the first file where i have had a last name for him!#nirith beloth #skyrim

unrelated, and i know nobody asked but skjkjsdf if you're ever writing anything that's related to theme of : alcoholism, effects of poverty, abandonment issues ( specifically abandoned mothers and spouses ), addiction, generational trauma ( also from the effects of poverty, alcoholism, addictions, etc but honestly, i do think it still generally expressed this quite well even without relating back to those topics ), possibly a lot of unspoken rage and grief from broken familyhood, i would recommend the discography of III by The Lumineers so badly.
