Title: Righteous at a Cost 💙
Author: thunderwear
Universe: Canon Divergence
Status: Complete
Rating: General
Length: Epic (21K)
Summary:
Lan Qiren sighed something weary and resigned and said, “Wei Wuxian, come back to Gusu.”
After his nephew returns from Yiling, lovelorn and dejected, Lan Qiren decides to take matters into his own hands.
Recommended by: @shamelesswngxian
Comments:
LQR goes to Yiling and that changes the whole story as we know it.
If you like fics where WWX and LQR find a way toward each other, you’re going to love this fic because LQR truly is the hero and MVP of this story! He protects his nephew’s heart and the Wens, he says: we don’t do miscommunication in this house, and also helps WWX reform his golden core. All in all, this is such a wonderful everyone lives fix-it fic told from LQR’s POV!

Title: The Sun Is Haunted ☀️
Author: Monyas ( @monyas )
Universe: AU / Canon Divergence
Status: Complete
Rating: General
Length: Middle (4+K)
Summary:
In another universe, Wen Ruohan had a child called Wen Chao, who grew up to be cowardly, petty and basically an idiot.
In this universe, however, Wen Ruohan had a child called Wen Wuxian, who grew up to be courageous, cunning and basically a genius.
-Presenting to you one Wen Ruohan, the proudest and most stressed father of Nightless City.-
Recommended by: @shamelesswngxian
Comments:
"My son has just started his archery lessons," Some sect leader would say during a banquet, "Today he hit three bullseyes in a row."
And Wen Ruohan, who had never been interested in such inane conversations, found that he felt a novel sense of pride every time he could casually add remarks like, "I've never seen my son hit anything other than a bullseye."
And sit back and watch the other parents shrivel in shame.
He created many uncomfortable silences this way and it was glorious.
This fic is basically a what if Wei Wuxian was actually Wen Wuxian and Wen Ruohan was the proudest dad of all? Honestly, it only has one fault which is that I would’ve wanted to read a whole 30+K words of it because--SO GOOD! And lastly, don’t worry, Wangxian will still happen.
Also, author’s notes:  Because Wen Chao was spoiled and Wei Wuxian needed spoiling.
Yes PLS and THANK YOU!

Title: Four Parts Honey and One Part Vinegar 🍯💚
Author: masked ( @hamburgergod )
Universe: Post Canon
Status: Complete
Rating: Teen
Length: Epic (13+K)
Summary:
“You know,” Ouyang Zizhen says thoughtfully over dinner one day, “I’ve never seen Wei-qianbei get jealous before.”
Lan Jingyi pauses for the briefest second, remembers the sect rule of keeping silence during meals, and decidedly forgoes it. “What?”
“Well,” Ouyang Zizhen continues, “Hanguang-jun always has a lot of admirers everywhere we go, but Wei-qianbei never seems to mind it.”
“Why are we talking about this?” Jin Ling asks flatly.
-
Four times Wei Wuxian doesn't get jealous, and one time he does.
Recommended by: @shamelesswngxian
Comments:
Everyone is thirsty for Hanguang-Jun but WWX isn’t bothered by that in the slightest so the juniors have a constant nagging question which is: How to make WWX jealous? Turns out you just have to get WWX of the present and WWX of the past in one room together with LWJ.
I thought this was gonna be a simple humorous fic but it’s actually so much more than that. This fic has depth, UST, brilliant interactions between the past!WWX and LWJ, protective!Juniors, and LWJ, who is so whipped for all versions of WWX it’s beautiful. His interactions with the WWX of the past are.. intense xD while MXY!WWX bears witness to it all but don’t worry, “the Impeccable Trust between Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian”  tag is there for a reason. WWX of the present is very sure of his husband's all-encompassing love for him.
TL;DR: Mission: Get WWX jealous 4+1 style. Or, the fic where WWX is jealous of himself!

Summary:
Wei Changze is reborn as Wen Yuan. Cangse Sanren is reborn as Lan Jingyi. Understandably, this changes a lot of things.

Lol, this was so much fun to read. I mean, WWX’s parents being reborn as A-Yuan and Jingyi who are now being cooed over by their son? What an original idea! I love it.

Title: drawn to the blood  💜
Author: darkredloveknot
Universe: Post Canon
Status: Complete
Rating: Teen
Length: Long  (5+K)
Summary:
Jiang Cheng pondered for a moment if he felt worse about having to save Lan Wangji, or if Lan Wangji felt worse about having to be saved by him.
Recommended by: @shamelesswngxian
Comments:
He had realized something last night, and it had pissed him off: the similarity of their hatred.
Jiang Cheng hated Wei Wuxian for causing his sister’s death, while Lan Wangji hated Jiang Cheng for causing Wei Wuxian’s. It was a circle, a cycle of cause and effect, of misunderstandings and accidents, guilt and blame and anger.
Looking at it from a distance, it seemed so pointless. He knew why he’d done what he did; had walked those familiar paths of emotion many a time. Losing a sibling was a pain that had driven him forward on that path, towards that cliff, unavoidable and horrible.
But his revenge had cost him his only other sibling.
He spoke into the wind as they rode towards the mountains.
“Sometimes… I wish I had stood with him. It might’ve made for a different story.”
He hadn’t expected an answer, lost to fever and hurt as he was. But Lan Wangji spoke in a whisper from where his head slumped against Jiang Cheng’s shoulder.
“I have my regrets, too.”
“You tried.”
A slow sigh.
“We both failed to save someone that night.”
“But you got yours back,” he couldn’t help but breathe, the wind stinging in his eyes.
“I am sorry.”
Jiang Cheng nodded, tightening his grip when the other seemed close to slipping. Lan Wangji licked his dry lips, struggling around a question.
“…Jiang Wanyin. Do you wish he had not returned?”
Closing his eyes for a moment, Jiang Cheng felt something inside of him give in.
“I’ve never wished that.”
Thic fic is absolutely amazing and while the focus of it is not Wangxian, read it anyway. It's an introspective fic told from JC's POV where he reflects on his complicated relationship with LWJ and WWX and it's SO very worth reading. You’ll get whump with a hurt!LWJ and a grudging reconcilliation between him and JC. WWX makes an appearance at the end of the fic too, worried out of his mind for his husband and eternally grateful to his brother for saving him.

Summary:
The Lan family routine is a series of ordered routines. A Wei Wuxian who wasn’t there the night before.
Recommended by: @shamelesswngxian
Comments:
When WWX comes out as bisexual, Madam Yu throws him out of the Jiang house. This whole fic is so good, a modern AU told exclusively from LXC’s POV, who is, The Best Bro Ever. He takes WWX in, and supports him and LWJ in their budding new relationship. Wangxian are so soft and in love, it’s beautiful 💙

Title: Phantom Leashes 🩸🖤
Author: mondengel ( @mondengel )
Universe: Canon Divergence / Vampires AU
Status: Complete
Rating: Explicit
Length: Middle (3+K)
Summary:
It was a good thing Lan Xichen was born first.
Recommended by: @shamelesswngxian
Comments:
Wei WuXian was perpetually hungry.
Lan Qiren saw him sliding slowly into starvation and felt tension draw through his bones like an overdrawn bow about to crack. His fingers itched for his sword every moment Wei WuXian was in his sight.  He let himself fantasize about shoving it through his heart and putting an end to him as he never allowed himself with Lan Wangji.
Watching Wei WuXian’s every move, the magnetic fascination that kept his eyes pinned to Lan Wangji was all too apparent. As was the answering look in Lan Wangji’s eyes as he watched him in turn. The inhuman stillness that overcame them as their eyes locked, short and sharp in the classroom (nearly making him stumble in his lecture as he anticipated one of them lunging at the other), a long, lingering stare down in more secluded places. Always Wei WuXian would dissolve the tension with some laughing remark and throw himself at his nephew as if the minutes before had never happened.
Lan Qiren had feared they would fight, territorial like beasts. What destruction and bloodshed would they wreak across the Cloud Recesses if they did? He’d kept an eye on them, fretted and followed until he had the misfortune to be there when the tension finally snapped instead of dissipating.
In the middle of the night he came upon them locked together, blood a spreading stain at Lan Wangji’s collar where Wei WuXian’s teeth had sunk in as they tugged and shoved at each other in staggering circles around the garden path. The stone wall that bordered the Jingshi had cracked as Lan Wangji shoved Wei WuXian against the wall with a low rumbling noise in his throat, mouth descending to bite savagely into the junction of Wei WuXian’s neck and shoulder.
Thinking it was a fight, he’d started to rush closer until he realized the keening sound Wei WuXian was making was not pain. As Wei WuXian lifted his legs to wind around Lan Wangji’s waist and the push and pull motions between them began to take on a more purposeful rhythm, Lan Qiren ran from his nephew for a second time. Horrified.
WWX is a vampire and LQR hates all the vampires. But LWJ is a vampire as well, and so LQR is torn between love and hate for his nephew. This story is absolutely gripping and intriguing in the most deliciously eerie way 🖤.

Title: some good mistakes
Author: Lise
Universe: Post Canon
Status: Complete
Rating: Teen
Length: Epic (18+K)
Summary:
Wei Wuxian has been wandering alone for six months when he suddenly stops writing. This is deeply concerning to at least a few people. Jiang Cheng is not among them.
No, really, he's not.
(Or, the one where Wei Wuxian vanishes and Lan Wangji, reluctantly, asks for Jiang Cheng's help tracking him down.)
Recommended by: @shamelesswngxian
Comments:
JC and LWJ’s worry for WWX brings them together. There's a constant tension between the two but they end up working together on bringing WWX, who has been kidnapped, home. On their rescue mission they also have a candid and unpleasant talk. Nothing's perfect and things still hurt but they at least clear some things up between them.
The whole fic is frankly amazing and written exclusively from JC's POV and is basically about his complicated relationship with his brother and LWJ.
There’s also a fic where we are good and loved about the same events told from LWJ’s POV.

Title: how does one begin
Author: Shializaro
Universe: Canon Divergence
Status: Complete
Rating: Teen
Length: Middle (3K)
Summary:
If the love of your life jumps off a cliff after fighting alone against an army, do you jump, too? Yes, Lan Wangji decides. Wei Wuxian and his experimental time travel talismans politely disagree with that course of action.
As usual, nobody has told Jiang Cheng anything. All he knows is this: On their way to receive indoctrination in the Cloud Recesses, his brother starts acting weird and he is going to find out why. Also, if the Second Jade of Lan doesn't get the hell out of his way, he's going to start throwing fists.
Recommended by: @shamelesswngxian
Comments:
This is a short but excellent time travel fic, where LWJ falls with WWX deciding at that moment that he doesn’t want to live in a world without his Wei Ying. WWX, in the last moment before their death, draws a talisman.
WWX finds himself years back in the past climbing up the stairs to the Cloud Recesses. Wangxian reunite again as 15 year olds with all their memories intact. Jiang Cheng is confused and very much pissed off he understands shit once again.

Title: The Heart of a Lan 💙
Author: cerbykerby
Universe: Canon Compliant (The Untamed / MDZS)
Status: Complete
Rating: Teen
Lenght: Epic (14+K)
Summary:
"Xiong-zhang, are we cursed?"
The question hits Lan Xichen like a cold wave. "What makes you say that?"
"I heard Shifu say it," his little brother answers dutifully. "He says our family is cursed."
--
Those of the Lan bloodline have always been passionate people. Lan Xichen sees the proof in his brother and himself as they age together.
Recommended by: @shamelesswngxian (mod)
Comments:
Words can not possibly describe the relief he feels when he sees his little brother with his guqin in his lap. He steps into the clearing. "Wangji."
Lan Wangji looks up, the wariness on his face quickly giving away to surprise—then relief, and joy. He bows deeply, and his voice shakes a little. "Xiong-zhang."
"You've been well, I hope." Lan Xichen smiles at him. "I knew it was you the moment I heard Inquiry. Although," he looked at the spirits, aqueous and glowing in the air, "from their response, it sounds like Young Master Wei is still missing."
Worry returns to Lan Wangji's brows, furrowing them. "He's been gone for three months."
Lan Xichen rests a hand on his arm. "Young Master Wei is resourceful and clever," he reassures him. "He will find a way."
It is not enough. Lan Wangji looks unconvinced, and glances at his guqin as if he plans on starting yet another session of Inquiry. Yet he restrains himself. "I will find him," he says it as an oath.
Later, years later, Lan Xichen will think back to this exact moment and realize that this is where it all started. Whatever happened to his brother and Wei Wuxian when they were trapped in Xuanwu cave had drastically changed Lan Wangji—stirred his blood, awoke a devotion within him that would make their sect elders froth at the mouth and rage: not this again.
But, for now, Lan Xichen knows no better, and he thinks nothing of his brother's earnestness.
"I know you will," he tells him, fully believing him.
Lan Xichen hurts. He wants to rush over and pull his brother away from the Yiling Patriarch. He wants to drag Lan Wangji back to the Cloud Recesses and force him to cultivate in seclusion until he becomes so much of an untouchable immortal that he forgets petty troubles like love and devotion. He wants to turn back time and discourage his uncle from ever choosing Yunmeng Jiang's Wei Wuxian as one of his disciples.
His brother has the heart of a Lan. His blood will always burn. But now that the worst has happened and Wei Wuxian is dead, Lan Xichen hopes that Lan Wangji can start to heal, in both soul and body.
...
He pities his uncle. Lan Qiren tried his best to raise his nephews with the highest discipline and restraint—not just to be exemplary members of the Lan Sect, but also to avoid the fate of their father, who locked himself away because he was stuck between his heart and his morals.
"Xiong-zhang," his little brother asks him, "are we cursed?"
After all these years, he finally has an answer for the then five-year-old Lan Wangji: I am, little A-Zhan, but you are not.
Ever since Wei Wuxian came back, Lan Wangji has remained by his side, firmly believing in him and staying true to his values. Even during the Second Siege of the Burial Mounds, when the cultivation world once again marched against Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji stayed by him with a clear conscience and a faithful heart.
"Those of the Lan bloodline have always been passionate," he smiles at his curious little brother. "We are extremely devoted. Like all things in life, that devotion can be good or bad, depending on whether we control it or let it control us."
The heart of a Lan is a curious thing, both a blessing and a curse, a strength and a weakness.
He thinks of his brother, reunited with his love and travelling the world. He thinks of his mother, alone in her gentian-lined house. He thinks of his father, bound by love to protect his wife yet bound by honor to despise her.
Finally, he thinks of Nie Mingjue and Jin Guangyao, his sworn brothers, now both among the restless dead and banned from the cycle of reincarnation. He thinks about the former's strength and the latter's generosity, now immaterial and lost to time as the world moves on without them.
There's nothing left for him.
Lan Xichen crosses the threshold.
The door shuts behind him.
This is a heartfelt fic told from LXC’s POV that follows him all the way from his childhood right up to his adulthood. The story is captivating and beautifully written, drawing excellent parallels between Lan bros and their father.
LQR is just an uncle who tries to save his nephews from their Lan hearts. He can't save them from their fate but he's a man who tried to do what he thought was the best for them.

Hey, I hope this isn't too much of a bother as you probably get a lot of messages/requests, but can you recommend some fics with a focus on 1) a plot that includes the juniors being spectators/commentators to wangxian's developing relationship, and also 2) wwx getting hurt and lwj getting scared/angry/vulnerable because of it? thank you!
Hi nonny!
We’re going to answer your first question here because we’ve covered the other ask in another post that’s already in our drafts.
Our recs for “Juniors on Wangxian”:
Canon Compliant
A Dramatic Reading by pupeez4eva (5+K, Not Rated)
(Post-Canon, Humor, In-Universe RPF, Public Confessions, Getting Together)
Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian make out in a room full of Sect Leaders, Jiang Cheng tearfully declares his love for his estranged brother, Sect Leaders Yao and Ouyang beg for the Yiling Patriarch’s forgiveness, and Lan Qiren openly welcomes a new nephew-in-law into his family.
None of them want to be doing any of this. Thanks to the Juniors, they don’t exactly have a choice.
(Or, wherein the Juniors accidentally write a cursed fanfiction, and everyone has to reenact their parts in it, or potentially cease to exist).
Cut sleeve (m/m), slow burn, pining (lots of pining) by Lucky_Moony (6+K, Teen)
(Canon Compliant, In-Universe RPF, Crack, Fluff, Junior Quartet, Zhuiyi)
Nothing to see here, just Lan Jingyi writing fanfiction about his favorite ship: Wangxian.
Or
How Lan Sizhui discovered his best friend was writing romantic stories about his parents.
the spice of life by whats_the_mintTea (10K, Teen)
(Post-Canon, 5+1, Humor, The Juniors ship Wangxian, Getting Together)
Lan Qiren sputters and turns a livid eye towards his nephew. “Oh?” the doctor interjects before the vein on the other’s temple bulges too much, “And what does Wei Wuxian do with his collection of herbs?”
“Cooking,” Lan Wangji responds placidly, though Lan Sizhui notices a tug of his lips upward. “Crude medicines from the roots for emergencies. He also enjoys a bolder flavor that the Cloud Recesses does not supply.”
“Yeah, Wei-qianbei isn’t trying to overthrow the Lan sect gardeners or anything. He just uses his spices to make us sweat or to make tea for Sizhui,” Lan Jingyi adds defensively.
Or, 5 times Wei Wuxian helps his favorite juniors with the power of spice, and 1 time they helped him back.
coming of age, coming alive by narie (16+K, Teen, WIP - 2/3)
(Canon Compliant, Found Family, Juniors, Coming of Age, POV Outsider)
"That Mo Xuanyu," Jingyi grumbled, "I don't like him. He has the thickest face. And he's dishonest, too - he's no more of a lunatic than I am. So why does he keep pretending anyhow?"
Sizhui hummed his acknowledgement. The way their new guest's moods could shift from shrillness to stunned stillness seemed something other than lunacy to him too. "Hanguang-jun trusts him," he said, when the silence between them made it clear Jingyi desired more conversation.
"I know." It was, apparently, a source of deep frustration for him. "I just can't understand why."
The summer they meet Senior Mo, Sizhui breaks the rules against gossiping more than once.
━━━━━━━━━━▼━━━━━━━━━━
Modern AU
Operation Old Men by chiharu (37+K, Not Rated)
(Modern AU, Boarding School, Single Parents, Juniors, Everyone Lives, Matchmaking, Family Dynamics, Reunion, POV Outsider)
An ill-fated parent teacher conference reunites Jin Ling's wayward uncle with Sizhui's father. AKA: A matchmaking disaster as told by Jin Ling, Sizhui, and Jingyi.
Jin Ling knows he’s in deep trouble even before reporting to Headmaster Lan’s office, but the words “your uncle will be here soon” still strike the fear of God in him. His only consolation is that Jingyi and Sizhui’s guardians are also in the office, Jingyi’s mom already lecturing her sheepish-looking son. Lan-ayi only stops when Sizhui’s father, a quiet and tall man in white, clears his throat, causing her to engage him in one-sided smalltalk.
This is a disaster. Jin Ling had spent such a nice break at home for Mid-Autumn Festival, and Fairy’s presence had soothed his homesickness after returning to boarding school in Gusu. He knows pets aren’t allowed, but who is going to report Jin Ling when his father pays good money for a private suite in the dorms? Then there was the incident with Jingyi, a box of mooncakes, and a door left ajar. Long story short, he spent an hour chasing Fairy down the halls with Sizhui and Jingyi before finding his dog nosing up to a very angry Headmaster Lan.
you're two steps away but i i'll take three steps towards you by chesire (kierenwalkers) (14+K, Teen)
(Modern AU, High School, Fluff, Humor, Bad Matchmaking, Getting Together, Juniors, POV Outsider)
“Can you imagine Lan Wangji riding a motorcycle?” Jin Ling asks. The three of them stare at each other in dead silence. Sizhui shivers. The thought of the ever-stoic Lan Wangji on a motorcycle, complete with a helmet and leather jacket makes the hairs on the back of Jin Ling’s neck prickle.
Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian are, amazingly enough, not together yet despite the loads of sexual tension between them. Fortunately for Lan Jingyi, this means he can play matchmaker. Unfortunately for Jin Ling, this means he's somehow roped into godawful plans.
