Me explaining to u guys why you should ship Byakusho

Do you like doomed yaoi? But you still want them to have a happy ending so you end up reading fanfics to cope?

Look no further, byakusho is for you. Doomed yaoi with an actual happy ending. Regardless of if you already like KHR and you don't particularly ship them, or you know absolutely nothing about this series, you should read it anyways. Also if you're wondering how they can be doomed yaoi and still have a happy ending, you should definitely read this

This segment is for people who do not know anything abt KHR so if you already know abt who Byakuran and Shoichi are, you can skip to the next bolded segment.

OKAY SO for those who do not know anything about Katekyo Hitman Reborn, it's basically like. About mafia and stuff. Also they all have different "dying will flame" types based on their personalities/affinities and stuff. Just think of them all as magical girls with guns okay don't worry too much about it they have magic and they're in the mafia

Let's go over their characters real quick.

Shoichi is first introduced in something similar to a filler episode, called "The Misfortune of Shoichi Irie" or something like that. Basically in the episode, he's delivered a package by the mafia for taking care of their kid, Lambo.

Lambo is another character (a kid from the mafia) Not under Shoichi's care, but they do meet briefly. Realizing that the package isn't supposed to go to him, he ventures to return it to Tsuna's (the main character of KHR) house, where he runs into a lot of odd and kind of gag-like funny typical shonen anime shenanigans. But this really freaks him out

He ultimately fails to return the package, and suffers from nightmares about the encounter.

Something to note though is that Lambo possesses a bazooka called the "10 yr bazooka" and if you shoot it at someone, it basically has the ability to switch you and your future self (10 years from now) for 5 minutes. This is extremely relevant.

The main characters of KHR are transported roughly 10 years into the future, and realize that they cannot return home even after 5 minutes. They then find out that there's this guy attempting world domination, and his name is Byakuran. Byakuran has access to knowledge of every parallel universe and timeline, allowing him to even consider world domination

Byakuran runs the Millefiore mafia family, and his right hand man is Shoichi. Long story short, they are introduced as the villain duo that the main characters must defeat

I'll go over some more stuff that ppl familiar with KHR probably already know, but it is necessary for my reasoning so please read through everything

First off, they are quite literally soulmates. Initially, Shoichi wanted to know what his future was like, hence he traveled back into the future twice after changing his actions. There, he meets Byakuran both times, accidentally causing Byakuran to realize his powers to gain access to knowledge from other worlds

However, because he runs into Byakuran in the future no matter where he travels or how he tries to change the future, it is basically implied that Byakuran and Shoichi are destined to meet in every timeline. Or in most at least

When Shoichi realizes this, he immediately devises a plan to take down Byakuran. His plan? Befriend Byakuran, gain his trust, and ruin all of his plans

Upon returning back to the past, he purposely erased his memories of the future, planning to have them return years later. You may be wondering how Shoichi is so confident that he could carry out the plan despite having no memory of Byakuran

Well this all really implies how confident he was that he and Byakuran’s fates were intertwined. Because how else could he be so sure that their paths would cross or Byakuran would show interest in him? Yeah. Anyways

They met in college and there is something you have to know here, and it's that they are so best friends to lovers guys they are in fact best friends

Shoichi, having no memories of Byakuran, somehow befriends him and becomes his best friend. Like, For Realsies...

When he regains his memories, he realizes much to his horror that his friend was about to game end the world, so he continues to persist with his plans despite now feeling completely awful about it

Fast forward, Shoichi is now Byakuran’s right hand man in the Millefiore family. It is important to note that Byakuran refers to Shoichi as "Sho-chan" and Shoichi refers to Byakuran as "Byakuran-san"

It may at first seem like Byakuran is being playful and Shoichi is polite, and while Shoichi does have a level of politeness, it's important to note that Shoichi and Byakuran use katakana to refer to each other when they use -chan and -san

This is in most cases actually considered rude when referring to one's superiors, and considering Byakuran is Shoichi's boss, it basically means he's okay with Shoichi referring to him rudely. Furthermore, the usage of katakana in this context just implies closeness

This information cannot be seen in the anime because you can't tell if someone is using katakana or hiragana just by listening to them speak, but it is very apparent in the manga that they are close. Also, all the other characters besides Shoichi refer to Byakuran as Byakuran-sama, so there's that too

Byakuran sent Shoichi a whole room's worth of white anemones, as most friends do

Shoichi finds this troublesome though because Byakuran is big on flower language and this means Byakuran has great expectations for him to succeed in his mission (of killing the main characters)

However it's later revealed that Shoichi had intended on betraying Byakuran, and Byakuran also reveals himself that he already knew about Shoichi's eventual betrayal, since Shoichi has always disapproved of his views

So if Byakuran already knew Shoichi was going to betray him, sending him a room of flowers meaning that he expects him to do well has no practical meaning to it besides from

1) he's just fucking with shoichi and 2) anemones explicitly mean love and passion so really he's just gay

No I'm so serious he's just gay. Like the Millefiore is made up of a bunch of squads right, and Byakuran is as mentioned above obsessed with flower language. Meaning he absolutely could not have not known what anemones generally mean outside of "anticipation/expectations"

But also each squad is named after a flower and Byakuran decided to explicitly assign Shoichi the rose squad. This man has done everything but kiss Shoichi on the lips like actually. All the fucking flowers in the world and you assign your best friend the rose ? And you send him a whole room full of flowers meaning love and passion? You gay bitch 😭😭

Anyways it has to be said that Byakuran besides being definitely not straight, is a really shit person. Like I have to say it he's awful, he's responsible for the death of thousands of people and he just casually destroyed a couple of worlds in search of more power. He views people like his toys and he admits to it

He is like a child in how everything is really just for his amusement, something for him to play with. He is even willing to sacrifice his closest allies for more power, he's just that type of guy </33 he just...does not have emotional attachments to other people

But with that said, he doesn't seem particularly hurt when it's revealed that Shoichi was not on his side anymore. However, when they play Choice, Shoichi is picked as a target and I refuse to believe that it is a coincidence and not Byakuran being petty because his best friend betrayed him💀

For those who do not know, Choice is a game that Byakuran and Shoichi made together in university, but now they're playing it irl. It's kind of like capture the flag, but the flag is one specific target, and in this case, the target for the main characters' team is Shoichi

Even when Shoichi was beaten and nearly died in Choice, Byakuran seemed unaffected by all of this and we are led to believe that he never really did care about Shoichi despite calling him his best friend

Shoichi, however, admits to the main characters that despite Byakuran being the way he was, back before he regained his memories of the future, the time he spent with Byakuran were "the best times of his life"

He genuinely enjoyed being around Byakuran and considered him his best friend despite knowing that Byakuran was going to do awful things, and he was determined to stop him. Despite it all

In Shoichi’s character song, we get a glimpse into his thoughts, and as it turns out, he really is in conflict with himself

Because in his heart, he wants to be with Byakuran, it's his place, but he chose to save the world instead, so that place is gone. He even says that he has to lie to his heart to do what he has to </33

In the song he also states that he doesn't want to break his memories and he wants to keep them safe, probably referring to the picture perfect time he spent with Byakuran before shit hit the fan. He continuously wills himself to not cry, to stop crying, because it's for the world

Girl I am crying for him. He cannot afford to act selfishly because choosing to be with Byakuran would make him the happiest and would simultaneously doom the world. But anyways

Clearly Shoichi holds Byakuran in high regard and loves him. Like not even just romantically, but in general he really does love Byakuran a lot

At the very end of the arc, the villain must be defeated though, and Byakuran is killed like straight up killed

Throughout the entire scene, Shoichi does not once show joy. He seems to accept the situation and is happy in a way that his plans have come to fruition, but his plans have always been "defeat Byakuran" rather than kill him. Shoichi had never planned to kill Byakuran, or at least explicitly said it, although I'm sure he knew that type of conclusion was inevitable

His reaction to Byakuran's death does stand out though, because every other character does seem to express joy at the victory, but Shoichi looks...blank. Perhaps shocked or in disbelief, but either ways his best friend was just killed right in front of him and he can't even be mad about it because this was the only way he could've been stopped

Shoichi is not aware of this, but before Byakuran dies, we finally get a glimpse into his thoughts as well

Byakuran admits in his last moments internally that although he did all of this because he wanted to create a perfect world, it wasn't as if he was completely dissatisfied with this one because there were also times where he felt "warm and fuzzy" as well. We then get a bunch of flashbacks in his dying moments of him and Shoichi together

BITCH???? AKDJAF 😭😭😭 only in his dying moments do we find out that Byakuran really did actually care about Shoichi and genuinely considered him his best friend because well. Context. It's his dying moments would he have dying moment flashbacks about someone he didn't care about

Like just moments of them chatting...Shoichi smiling at him... gay ass flashback if I've ever seen one 😭😭

Byakuran is someone who doesn't generally value people, he views them as toys and pawns. So the fact that he basically admitted that he did have a genuine connection with Shoichi is so :((((( this guy is just so out of tune with his emotions that he couldn't properly convey it in the end and Shoichi never actually knew about it

I say this but I feel like Shoichi did have a vague idea that Byakuran held him to some degree of high regard because. Well he was Byakuran's right hand man and they were friends for years prior to the whole mafia world domination thing

He's the only person that truly treats Byakuran like a human despite Byakuran trying to play god and everyone worshiping him. And despite being the only person that doesn't treat Byakuran like the god he wants to be, Byakuran still keeps him around

So clearly that means something but anyways that is the doomed yaoi. Byakuran is dead and Shoichi's plans succeed at the cost of his best friend's life, and he never found out in the end that his best friend probably did love him as much as he loved him. And that is where it ends

OR SO YOU THOUGHT HA

As mentioned this all takes place 10 years in the future

Meaning that the past version of Byakuran is still Alive. When the main characters return back to the past, there is a huge earthquake and everyone, including the past versions of Shoichi and Byakuran, are given memories of what they did in the future

Byakuran is taken to mafia prison bc sure it's 10 yrs in the past but like that guy is like a ticking time bomb 💀 doesn't matter though because somehow he's bailed out of jail.

Byakuran is a white boy btw :/ he lives in Italy and Shoichi is Japanese. Yes this is important because when they're in university, they meet abroad when Shoichi probably goes to Italy or something to study, but as it stands, currently Byakuran is in Italy and Shoichi is still in Japan

Byakuran is preparing to go to Japan with the people that helped to bail him out and the first thing he says is that he can't wait to meet his best friend Sho-chan😭😭😭

Thanks to the power of love and friendship, Byakuran is now no longer batshit insane and it's implied he now properly cares about his teammates btw. Anyways congrats to Byakuran for having human emotions I'm so happy for him

After returning to Japan, of course he goes to see Shoichi, and we don't know how it went exactly, but the next time Shoichi appears in the series, he tells the main character that Byakuran explained the situation to him and stuff, so it is implied that they are on good enough terms to speak abt stuff normally

Also Shoichi is kinda next to Byakuran the entire time 😔 and there is a segment where Shoichi literally shit talks Byakuran in his face which is so funny to me because it's BYAKURAN hes talking to and he just doesn't give a shit. But Byakuran pulls out the "best friend" card on him and throughout his entire speel, Shoichi never once denies that they're best friends ever

In the very last arc, Byakuran sustains extremely awful injuries and by extremely awful I mean intestines completely destroyed awful . Luckily somehow he gets around it (dont worry about it) and is chilling in the hospital and although it's a very small panel, you will see that Shoichi actually is there visiting him in the hospital

Remember how I said that everyone has magic powers and special dying will flames. Well Shoichi just happens to have the sun flame which makes him a healer so we can infer that he's also helping to heal Byakuran in the hospital along with visiting him

In this timeline they're able to retain their friendship and work towards a better future but anyways that's them my favorite doomed but not really doomed yaoi they are everything to me please ship them

So, I used the prompt [caramel apples] from Day 10 of the event, prompt 16, for the Millefiore family! I hope you’ll all enjoy 😊

Caramel Apples: Favourite Halloween candy?

Byakuran’s favourite Halloween candy? Obviously it’s those chocolate marshmallow pumpkins and witches. He’s someone who has a real sweet tooth and marshmallows are one of his go-to treats all during the year anyway, so it just makes sense that this is his go-to Halloween treat.

Uni is really happy with anything. She’s just grateful that anyone is giving her free candy and she’s not going to be picky about what she gets.

Kikyo, honestly, is probably the only person in the world who actually really enjoys seeing those single packs of raisins on Halloween. He doesn’t have a huge sweet tooth, and most of his Halloween candy gets eaten by other people but he just really does like raisins.

Zakuro doesn’t eat a lot of candy and chocolates. A lot of his Halloween candy gets eaten by Byakuran and Bluebell. The only thing he insists they don’t touch, and what he gets really excited to see tossed in his Halloween bag is soda. When people hand out cans of soda, or even juice, it makes him happier than any candy could.

Bluebell doesn’t actually have a favourite Halloween candy. She likes all of them pretty equally and what matters to her is how much she gets. She’s someone who’s not going to be happy with just a single bucket worth of Halloween candy. She needs that full pillowcase by the end of the night to be happy.

Daisy loves candy that is more taffy like in nature. Things like molasses kisses, Airheads, or even actual salt-water taffy make him really happy to get. He gets to eat them longer, because they take a lot of chewing, so he gets to enjoy the candy longer and the flavours tend to stick around longer.

Torikabuto is a monk completely possessed by a cursed mask. He doesn’t need to eat and the other’s take him out trick or treating, without even putting him in a costume because his normal appearance is scary enough, to get more candy for themselves.

Shoichi is going with Kit-Kats every time. They’re nice and easy to eat, even when his hands are busy with any of his other work and projects, and because you break them apart, he can eat one piece and save the rest for another time.

Gamma is a fan of Rockets. He’s actually the only one in the family who really loves them, so he’ll sacrifice most of his candy in exchange for everyone else giving him those.

Iris Hepburn is a chocoholic! Any chocolate bar will make her pretty happy, though she especially loves peanut butter cups.

Spanner is one of those rare people who actually get really excited when he sees suckers in his Halloween trick or treat baskets. He doesn’t mind Blow Pops and Tootsie Rolls, but his favourite are those apple caramel suckers that only really show up around Halloween.

Tazaru is honestly a little boring in his candy tastes when it comes to Halloween. Those little fun-sized packs of Starbursts always get him so happy.

Much like Bluebell, it’s not what he’s getting to Nosaru so much as how much he’s getting. He, Bluebell, and Uni probably have fun little competitions to see who gets the most candy. For Nosaru, his highlight is always when people pass out the full-size candy or sodas. Bigger is always better in his opinion.

Pairing: Byakuran/Sawada Tsunayoshi

Day 1 March 22 - New Life | Garden

Byakuran at his core was a selfish person. He’d never acted on it, but it still existed, even if he acted like it didn’t. Possessive over his own things bled into his other selves, and his other selves bled into him. People he had no right to claim as his. ..People he had no right to love or be loved by. But he was also an impulsive person by nature. And the one thing that they’d never really had, was someone always viewed as unattainable. The truth was, a lot of Bykaurans had fallen in love with a certain Sawada Tsunayoshi. A passing interest became a longing that threatened to consume him whole. He wanted the mafia boss, yet distrust met him at every step. Maybe it was masochistic, that the one they’d chosen had been one they harmed so dearly, harmed their precious people, but Tsuna had been so bright. Shining like the sun’s gaze was beaming straight at him, Byakuran wanted it all for himself. Wanted to take it. Steal it. To only have that gaze on himself. Even though he knew that the moment his other selves would get even a whiff of what Tsuna’s affection felt like, it would only get even more unbearable.

Day 2 March 23 - Renewal | Thaw

Tsuna was in a bit of a pickle. Well, to give some context, there’d been a school trip to a flower viewing event (there were crowds everywhere). He hadn’t been that interested, but he’d be an idiot to skip when everyone would be too distracted to go bother him. Especially when it was literally a free off day. Thus, he resigned himself to being lonely for all of eternity. At least the view was nice. Which is where he’d noticed a white-haired guy, which, huh. ------ Tsuna stumbled, face planting onto the railing. Around him, he could hear people burst into laughter. Don’t cry, Tsuna. Don’t. He sniffled, the sting bringing tears to his eyes anyway. No matter how much he got hurt, he could never develop a tolerance. “Alright class, I know how much of a distraction Dame-Tsuna is, but remember to stay with your buddy. If you don’t remember who your partner is, come talk to me, I have a clipboard.” The brunette blinked in confusion at the teacher’s voice. Hadn’t he already informed them when they first arrived? He looked around once more, only to flinch at the sight of purple eyes staring at him from a distance.

cervello sus: a post of evidence

IM SO DUMB OMG

So I was re-watching KHR episodes and I went back to the Varia Arc.

We all remember this, right?

AND THEN. RIGHT AFTER MAMMON SAYS THIS.

THE CAMERA MOVES TO

Mammon says, “I can’t be certain who performed the actual act, but [...],” and then we immediately move to the Cervello ladies??? This is literally implying that Cervello were the ones who woke Xanxus from his imprisonment (because it was imprisonment, Timoteo, he was not “sleeping in a cradle” like a well-behaved baby).

I know Timoteo said, “My weakness woke Xanxus from his long slumber.”

(Here are the receipts if you don’t believe me:)

But frankly, this always bothered me because “what weakness? what fucking possessed you to release your resentful adopted son?”

So I always just assumed that Timoteo purposefully released Xanxus in order to light a fire under Tsuna’s ass and further entrench him and his friends into the mafia.

BUT WHAT IF. WHAT IF CERVELLO. MANIPULATED HIM?? SOMEHOW???

Cervello, a secret organization that directly answers to the Ninth. They’re so secret that not even Sawada Iemitsu, the Leader of CEDEF, knew about them.

Cervello, who eventually defected and served Millefiore instead.

Cervello, who was known to be in possession of the Mare Rings and were the ones who gave them to Byakuran in the first place.

HONEY THESE ONEE-CHAN ARE SUS AF

Now, I’m not defending Timoteo. BUT A CASE COULD BE MADE IN THIS INSTANCE. The man ended up as a living battery for a robot, for Christ’s sake, I doubt he intended for THAT to happen no matter what he THOUGHT would happen when he released Xanxus.

It would be pretty interesting if Cervello were the ones who had been manipulating stuff behind the scenes. I doubt that they were in cahoots with Daemon, tho, bc of this scene:

Cervello neither wished nor prophesized that Xanxus would lose and Tsuna would win, they were just following “what had been decided from the start”. Daemon already made his position clear in terms of successorship: he didn’t want Sawada Tsunayoshi and his second coming of the 1st Gen to inherit Vongola.

So it begs the question: who decided the outcome of the Ring Battles? Was it really Timoteo? Or was it some other shadowy boss figure behind the scenes?

Man, I wish we were given more backstory for the Cervello because, the way they appear from the Varia Arc to the Future Arc, it was like they were gonna be more plot-important later on.

But then they just disappear from the Inheritance Ceremony Arc onwards???

So weird.

Haru was quickly trying to calm Lambo down, who was crying. “Shhh shhh, Lambo-chan, it’s okay. See? It’s not bleeding anymore. I’m fine, I’m not dying.” Well, she doubts that she’d die from being shot in the leg—but she digresses. Honestly, she’s shocked by how dastardly this … who were they again? Moto… no, wasn’t it Momo? Momo… Momoyaki! (Her habit of not memorizing names properly if she doesn't like them strikes again!) They sure had balls of steel to shoot someone in public like this. She had to admit that they really knew how to make a statement. Shoot someone in the leg, it makes it a lot harder for them to run away, so that increases the fear factor.

In that moment of her dropping to the ground after being shot in the leg, the only thing she could think about (aside from how much it hurt, of course) was the fact that Lambo had to get out of there. She was purposefully targeted and Lambo could be the next target. The possession of firearms was illegal in Japan (unless you were military or police), so this was a planned operation. Lambo refused to leave her side, declaring that he was going to stay with her and get her to safety.

The heat of the moment of her desperately trying to send Lambo off made her blind to everything else, including the fact that Byakuran had at one point arrived. It was so chaotic around them with onlookers screaming in terror that someone actually got shot in Japan that she didn’t notice his presence until she felt a hand on her thigh. She shivers at the weird sensation of what she knew was his uncanny ability to heal people. When her leg was fine, she looks up at him to thank him, but her breath hitches.

It didn’t take a genius to realize he was mad, but surely not at her (or so she’s hoping)? She is about to say something when she hears Lambo crying on the phone talking to someone. He capitalized on the fact her attention was elsewhere to make a call. “Wait, Lambo-chan. Who are you calling—Eh? What was that?” She heard Byakuran say something before he left her side, but with everything going on all at once, it was hard to focus.

IkeGen Sampler #4 - Tamamo

Tamamo: “Don’t look at me, MC!”

I thought we’d try some Tamamo today - and this scene specifically is one of many that made me cry in his route. The whole thing is very bittersweet, and goes from high highs to low lows...I don’t rave about it enough but it’s a very solid, excellent story.

(From Chapter 23)

When the men possessed by Yasuchika's clay dolls move to attack again, Tamamo freezes them all in place with a single heavy word, his kotodama. Yasuchika is agog, gaping at Tamamo's attempt to overwrite the possession with his own words of power - an ability that's new to MC as well, who looks on in shock.

He commands the struggling men again, with another Word, to go back where they came from...and one by one, lumps of black mud begin emerge from the men's mouths and fall free. She wonders if that broke the spell, as Tamamo sags a bit, pale and clearly exhausted by the effort. Still though, he orders them once again, more forcefully - and the soldiers writhe but spit out more, until they seem to regain themselves.

Tamamo urges them to hurry and rejoin the others - then he turns to Yasuchika and draws his sword, the blade glowing blue as he strikes. Yasuchika is able to just barely bring his own sword out and up in time to block the attack, but the force of the hit sends Yasuchika flying backwards.

All the soldiers are gaping at the insane blow, as Tamamo tries to hustle them to run away. Yasuchika picks himself up off the ground, groaning, but with grudging admiration for Tamamo's strength. She can see that he's both struggling to breathe and bleeding heavily.

"Well, you have to be a little exhausted, don't you Tamamo?" Yasuchika asks. "Breaking that curse with your kotodama...especially when undoing curses is not your forte."

Aya realizes how difficult it must have been for Tamamo to force his powers to do the opposite of what they're used to, and how it's a testament to how hard he struggled to free his men.

"Enough talk. Yasuchika, I'm going to hand you over to Yoritomo personally," Tamamo promises.

To which Yasuchika says thanks but no thanks. He smears his own blood all over his hands and draws a complicated sigil, before slapping his palms on the ground.

A mysterious purple glow springs up, sending gasps through all the people collected, and Tamamo grunts as the light coalesces into threads that wrap around and bind him tightly, forcing him to his knees. She yells his name as Yasuchika keeps building his spell, holding his bleeding side and screaming incantations, until Tamamo is bound helplessly, unable to so much as budge.

Tamamo seems startled to see this technique, and Yasu says he perfected it testing on Byakuran - and she realizes he IS the culprit behind Byakuran going mad all along. He admits it's a doozy though, he couldn't have done it without using his own blood, and she starts begging him to leave Tamamo alone, asking what he's trying to accomplish here. Yasu says honestly it's HER he's really interested in, the Kitsunetsuki Princess....what made HER so special??

And she's thinking...this guy is crazy. He is certifiable, and terrifying, as he stares at her malevolently.

From his place on the ground, Tamamo's telling her to run, glaring murderously at Yasuchika. Still struggling against his bindings and trying to stand. Yasuchika is impressed he can still move at all, but tells him if he stays quiet he won't touch MC - deal??

She's pissed about being used as a sort of hostage and calls Yasu a coward again, but Tamamo falls silent finally, biting his lip in frustration. Yasuchika begins rambling, musing on how Tamamo was able to be caught at all because he stayed to help all these people, going so far as to exhaust himself for their sake - when did he get to be such a softie??

"Shut up," Tamamo tells him furiously.

"No matter how hard you try...you can never be human!" Yasuchika accuses.

She gasps and shouts at Yasuchika, because the soldiers don't know that Tamamo is an ayakashi...and all around her the men start murmuring in confusion, asking her what Yasuchika is talking about. She stumbles over trying to come up with some answer, but can't say anything that isn't a lie and she falls silent.

"It's just cruel to keep it from them," Yasuchika says. "All this time, they've been in the dark, blind to the fact that they had such a horrifying creature at their sides! Trusting their lives to one....risking their own lives for it."

Yasuchika's poisonous words keep flowing, and she interrupts him to shout that Tamamo is their friend.

"Friends??" he scoffs. "Isn't it about time that pathetic dream ended?" He takes out a fresh seal of paper and tosses it onto Tamamo. "Show them exactly how much of a beast you are, Tamamo!"

Tamamo's body begins to contort, as if enduring some great agony, setting him grunting with pain. She shouts at him to resist, and he gasps out her name. And then in a flash of light, his ears and tails appear. The soldiers all begin clamoring at once in fear, as MC tries telling them all to remain calm, when...

She's interrupted by Tamamo's sorrowful scream.

"Don't look at me, MC!"

Power flares up around him in an inferno, his hair whipping in an invisible wind as he collapses to the ground. Fearsome claws grow from the tips of his fingers, as his hands and feet contort into inhuman angles, and she can only look on in disbelief.

A beast. He's transforming into a beast, she realizes.

The soldiers begin screaming in horror at the monster, at the deception, and Tamamo is wordless as foxfires begin to flare up uncontrollably around them all - just like Byakuran, she recognizes. He's lost control of his power entirely.

"...Run....Run away..." Tamamo tries to gasp.

The fires flare higher, threatening some of the soldiers, who scramble and scatter as fast as they can. Panic reigning supreme.

All she can think about is trying to help Tamamo, racing towards him as fast as she can. But her legs falter as she sees the eye that lifts to meet hers is slitted and animalistic, his name falling from her brokenly. She stares at that beastly gaze, blood from wounded soldiers all around as she trembles with fear - the hand she's been reaching towards him with stopping out of instinct.

Tamamo make a small wounded sound...and then darkness overtakes his eyes. And as if in response, the rest of his body transforms completely into that of a horrific beast. Before her stands a gigantic white fox, with a roar that could be either rage or suffering shaking the very air around them.

"Good, good. There you go, Tamamo," Yasuchika croons. "And just like I promised, I won't be the one to harm your friends. So let's start by having you destroy them all - shogunate and rebels alike."

She's standing there in just...a mute numb sort of horror, as Tamamo's massive forepaw slams into the ground, shaking it. Staring as it lifts again, coming closer....

When Shigehira appears, grabbing her by the arm and yanking her to safety, yelling at her for being a ninny and not running away

"But... Tamamo..." she protests.

"Yeah, but what about you??" Shigehira retorts. He drags her up on his horse, her thoughts still a total muddle, and says they have to get out as fast as they can, it’s not safe here now.

And they gallop off...chased by the sorrowful howls of the great beast behind them.

The sky grows dark as they're riding back towards camp, her clinging to the saddle behind Shige in a daze. Running over the events that just happened in her mind. The look in Tamamo's eyes when he'd seen her fear, and how hard it still is for her to wrap her brain around the idea that that was Tamamo. And she's crying now, just clinging onto Shige's back as they ride. Blaming herself.

Thinking...that if only she'd been able to take his hand, maybe this wouldn't have happened.

Chapter 1: Mind in the Gutter

*tak… takatak… tak… tak…tak*

I gazed intently at my computer screen, my fingers thumping rhythmically on the keyboard. With every word and sentence I feel that I’m descending more into a very deep red rabbit hole.

Merde- I’m so down bad, but this is just… Ughhh!

A sigh escape my lips as I continue typing, now more intensely. I find it insane what a week being alone without a childlike, possessive, special someone can do to my psych. Ah but alas, being a mafia don means someone is bound to be very busy.

Honestly I should have gone with him. I should have been more stubborn. But he sounded so uncharacteristically worried and cross about me going that I had to concede to just stay put in our penthouse… It’s been a week though! When is he even coming back…

I feel very restless with his prolonged absence, but I’m not too worried he’ll be in danger since the whole squad is with him, not to mention he can handle himself and he’s just going to meet with smaller Famiglias. That’s why I thought he’ll be only gone for two days at most, but to my huge frustration he’d been gone for this long. There’s not even a personal update or call, just official reports from the squad captains regarding the conference’s progress, ensuring that nothing is wrong.

How busy could he be? Or is he just refraining from calling me directly to make sure I won’t get dragged into the mafia dispute mess he’s currently trying to fix? Then that’s another great reason why I should have gone with him instead, right? So I could help…

I frowned and clicked my tongue, contemplating if I should go join him first thing in the morning.

On a second thought, I think that’s a dumb idea. And maybe I can bring more distraction to him instead of help…

I breathed deep and cleared my thoughts, no sense in wallowing in it now after so many days have already passed. With that worried thought put aside, I brought my attention and concentration back to the story I’m writing. Boy, this is becoming a very hot mess. I can feel the heat rising from my neck to my face as I carefully write the climax of my story in a piece of word document. My typing became faster as a flood of inappropriate thoughts and sentences passed my brain and escaped my fingertips.

If I look myself on a mirror right now I could bet I would look like a damn maniac.

*creak*

It might have been just tiredness overwhelming me, but I swear I heard some creaking noises. Though, I really can’t be bothered to check it right now since I’m already at the most juiciest part of the story. It’s probably just my cats playing, right? There’s no way someone would trespass here. I would like to see someone dare even the thought of it.

I continue typing without a care until-

“Extremely busy are we, dear~” A very familiar voice said as I felt air blowing onto the crevice of my neck. A shiver ran down through my spine. I jumped up from my seat in panic and reflexively looked at him.

“HIEEEEEEEEE!! B-Byakuran! You’re b-back, since when?” Due to his antics, a rush of blood enveloped me, creating a furious blush on my cheeks. I tried to calm my racing heart, putting on a façade of composure while also trying to inconspicuously cover my wide monitor screen, and failing to do so.

WHAT IS THIS TIMING?!!

“You didn’t even seem to notice I’m finally back. After one long week of purely long boring and murderous business meetings, I’m really looking forward to finally being home, only to find out you didn’t even seem to care. Did you miss me at all?” He said in a sad voice while making a hurt expression, but I can definitely see the lifted corners of his lips and the twinkle in his eyes, barely hidden. Then he pouts at me…

I so badly want to suck that-

“I’m sorry okay... I miss you badly and of course I’m really excited to have you back. I just didn’t know you’ll be back today, and umm...” I frantically glance at my screen, still covering it as much as I can, hoping he will never notice the subtle move… But of course he did.

”Ohhh? And what’s this?”

“Nothing! Really, ha ha ha, why don’t we go have dinner and catch up? How was your meeting with other dons? Dispute has been settled I hope?”

”Come now Chou, don’t change the topic.” He smiled playfully and yanked me towards him, effectively making me sit on his lap, and effectively unblocking the damn computer screen, with my word document laying completely bare for his eyes to read. I yelped and looked at him in absolute horror as he started reading the sentences out loud. I tried standing up to cover it once again, or at least reach out to close it, but with his arm having a firm half-hug on my waist and arms, keeping me immobile, any attempts at preventing my impending doom and humiliation is lost.

“-He caressed my thigh, a gasp escaped my lips. His touch feels electric, and I yearn for him so much more. *bleep* inside me. Put your *bleep* inside my *bleep*, please I’m begging you, fill me with your overflowing *bleep*. Devour me, stop teasing me. I want to feel your humongous hard *bleep* deep-”

“OH MY G-! PLEASE STOP! BYAKURAN NO!!!” I can feel my ears, neck, and basically my whole body overheat as he read my story in his husky deep voice while giving me sultry looks.

This guy will be the death of me someday, I just knew it.

“Ho ho~ My, what a very naughty girl.” He smirked as he caressed my face with his other hand, tenderly but with underlying hint of possessiveness.

“Well the last time we did it was quite a while ago now, wasn’t it? Because of the boring useless conference with other dons, I haven’t seen much of my sweet butterfly for a week.” He paused as he moved closer so his face is only few inches from mine while I’m still on his lap, eyes darkening with desire and lust.

I know this look… It’s the look that makes me want to go almost insane with want.

I breathe shakily and swallowed the thick lump on my throat. My mouth feels awfully dry as I bit my lip in anticipation.

“-So I can imagine your... pent up frustrations... Much like mine” He said with a purr.

“B-BAKA!!”

Byakuran’s eyes darted its attention back to the wanton document once again, an amused, almost evil, smirk crossed his sexy features as he continued reading the document in silence.

I swear I could feel my nosebleed forming.

”By-Byakuran! Please don’t-! OH MAY GAWD THIS IS EMBARASSING!-“ I covered my face with both hands. “Gosh... stop reading it, damn it!!” But he’s still going on; he’s even chuckling to himself now.

Earth, kindly swallows me right about now. I want to disappear.

“Why? I’m not wrong though, am I?” He whispered onto my ears silkily. “What about having the real thing instead of writing it in a story? Or do you want to re-enact everything you’ve written in here and make it a reality, hmmm Chouko?”

He didn’t even wait for me to respond as he kissed me with hot passion and deep yearning that melts me to the core.

That’s when I became certain. This night will be a sleepless one, possibly with a lot of moaning screaming. I can only thank the Tri-Ni-Sette we have the whole building all to ourselves.

And that's just one of my MANY stories… What will happen if he finds and reads the others too?

-- 27. How do you deal when you know you’re being irrationally jealous? "These days, I usually just let go of whatever I'm jealous about. If someone else wants it so bad, they can have it. I don't want that kind of hassle." He's a very possessive person, but he doesn't really want to deal with it. Maybe if it's something really important to him, he'll deal with it, but… there's nothing worth it anymore.

-- 33. Have you stopped trying to control things yet? Oh, that one hits hard. "Ouch…" ♪ He smiles it off. "Me having control never ends well, right? So I go with the flow now, but I can't say I like it."

-- 59. What is your favorite form of self-destruction? Hmm. He runs through all the options through his mind. Attention seeking? Not addressing any major issues? Self-sabotage? Neglecting his own well-being? Ignoring responsibility? Ignoring others in general? Everything else?

"I'd say attention-seeking. It's not something I have to actively do that often since I stand out so much. It doesn't take a lot of effort if I do, so I think I'm just used to having it."

-- 69. What emotion makes you want to give up? "It's not an emotion, but every time I hear 'Byakuran-sama', I just want to give up becoming someone new." Sigh. "I'm tired of 'Byakuran-san' too. And 'Sasaki-san' doesn't sound like me at all, but it's better than the other two, I guess."

It doesn't help that there are tons of other people with Sasaki as their surname. Someone sure made an effort to help him fit in, even if it didn't work.

-- 80. What is your favorite strategy for avoiding conflict? "I don't like worrying about that kind of thing." Shrug. "There are times and places for conflict, but it's usually not." Sure, there are times where he does take something and someone seriously, but those are pretty rare. "If someone has an issue with me, that's on them."

-- 86. What do you find yourself justifying to people, even when no justification is needed? "Anything I have fun with." He's just used to his idea of 'fun' being under scrutiny. The idea of being allowed to do something because it's fun? How foreign. No matter what it is, there's always at least one person to criticize it.

-- 3. Bonus: Would you prefer to be manipulated or to be the manipulator? "When you manipulate someone else, you're twisting them the way you want them to be. They're not really like this. Just who are you fooling? If you want something that's not a reality, are you sure you're not a victim too?"

He lives for teasing his s/o, they stay on their toes 24/7 whenever he's around... and soon learned to keep it that way even when he's seemingly not around

His favourite moments are when the punchline is him sweeping them off their feet and catching them all flustered when he gives them surprise kisses

They have subtly matching accessories like phone charms or matching wallpapers.. zzz Mukuro really adores them and loves things that remind him of them, when he's away for a bit he leaves little gifts and secrets for his s/o to find.. like a scavenger hunt

Me realizing now that this man is just a big crow

He likes shiny things and you would never see his eyes twinkle as much as when you suggest promise rings or the like; He gives a warm smile at that, and his eyes even crease.. you can almost sense the excitement despite his constantly calm and suave demeanor

He's also a bit of a couch potato with them, preferred hangout activity is to nap with his head on their lap or put something on tv while practically laying on top of one another

He has cold hands and teases that he needs them to help him warm them up.. always sticks his cold feet into their space under the covers and tortures them with that even when they squeal and tell him to stop

Poor guy just has bad circulation from being suspended in that tank for so long dang give him a break

He'd share bits and pieces of his past, but generally doesn't really like involving his s/o in it because he's still fighting with his morality, he doesn't believe he is a good person, and I actually do think he'd stick with his plans of world domination.. but he's a gemini so he's fickle and still cares deeply about certain people, thinking about it gives him the creeps.. what happened to big bad Mukuro Rokudo?

He gets jealous when the owl Mukuro(wl) prefers head scratches from his s/o instead of him; He pouts about it by being quiet and being like a cat that avoids their owner..

I think he's a bit of a messy drunk, so the most unforgettable nights with him are the drunk karaoke parties/dates, where he'll serenade his s/o, face all red, and clothing layers haphazardly tossed around the room; Man has to let lose somehow, in a way that isn't evil and involves causing direct harm to people.. right?

As he grew more attached, he began to do everything he could to visit them, even if it's only for a short while; He'll figure out a way to get to them when they're about to fall asleep and whisper sweet nothings to them as they doze off

His partner will get used to the feeling of him pressing his (somewhat cold) lips to their cheek, and temple, and forehead.. he always waits for the sound of their soft snoring before he dissipates into mist, off to conquer humanity

Byakuran

He spoils his s/o to no end, mostly because he's such an indulgent individual to begin with and he actually loves to share the wealth!

He's just so excited to try new delicious foods with and introduce his favorites to someone he deeply cares about awww

Every date involves sharing food, he doesn't care how small it is, he wants a bite of it lol

He can't stop smiling when they're perched across from one another, with a sundae or milkshake between them, sharing a drink with two straws is his favourite thing to do because he can just look at how cute his lovebug is

This one also loves those cute photo booth pictures ahsdgjahsd; He gets so pouty when he realizes that his s/o hasn't stickerbombed their water bottle or laptop with their photos

He can be quite possessive, he's not as empathetic as most people and he's learning slowly how to see people as people, and relate to their emotions; It would take quite a dramatic disagreement between him and his s/o for him to realize that he cannot just be entitled to them, and that he was taking them for granted this whole time

He loooves pet names and almost never calls them by their actual name (unless they specifically told him to.. he would be struggling ngl, he just wants to shorten it or put a spin on it, all in the name of expressing affection)

Honey, dear, darling, sweetheart, my love, dearest, dove, baby, angel, sweetpea, my apple fritter, marshmallow, pumpkin pie, you name it, he's probably used it at some point

He always goes out of his way to be helpful to them, because he's an ambitious man, and since he's so.. used to dealing with his stuff, he's always curious what his partner is doing, and if he can be a part of that.. help them with it, maybe? He just enjoys their company and wants excuses to hang out with them, or to help them soooo they can get things done faster so they can hang out with him again lolol

But he's kind of like a cat?? He might get moody and his partner is no longer the person he wants to see; He shuts himself away for a short period of time when he's stressed or upset because he doesn't want to blow up on them

He insists that it's for their own good because he can be a little scary when he's upset; He rarely gets to this point though, because smaller stressors in life can definitely be combated with some hugs and kisses and quality time with his darling

After some alone time, he sends a bunch of texts about "Heyyyy I want to see u again :(((" and the like, because he's thought things over with himself and can now bask in the attention that he missed so much <3

18. how does your muse feel about marriage? would they ever want to get married?

Marriage is far, far down the list of priorities byakuran has for his life. If he did find someone he was willing to spend the rest of his life with and they wanted it — sure, why not? He doesn't particularly care for it, but if he was to get married, he would still go all out for the wedding!

20. how does your muse feel about public displays of affection? would they engage in them?

Byakuran is a fiend for public displays of affection. For someone to become the object of his affection is a feat in and of itself, and he has no qualms about expressing his adorations to them and everyone else. It wouldn't be in a possessive manner, usually; it would be more of a "he loves them so much he can't hold it in" kind of way.

What kind of flames does Kai have is he also a storm. Cause if so then byakugan should do the whole twin element thing that tsuna does and have two storms

I don't actually think I assigned Kai with a Flame type? But hey, since Zakuro is a Storm, let's make him a Storm too.

Byakuran having Kai being his second Storm Funeral Wreath wouldn't work, though. It would be a decision that has no meaning for the story, and honestly, it's not something Kai would want, either. He's been sick most of his life and is still recovering from that. He doesn't know how to defend himself. That, plus he's just not interested in the mafia business. Sure, he is a part of it now, but that's because he's related to Zakuro. He doesn't really do much for the mafia. Instead, he's doing what a kid should do (and he is a kid, an actual child who doesn't have memories from the future or anything): making friends, hanging out with said friends, studying, etc. He's having a normal life, the one he couldn't have before. Being the Storm Funeral Wreath would mean he couldn't have that, and that's the last thing Byakuran or anyone in Gesso wants.

That, plus I'm pretty sure the whole twin mists thing Chrome and Mukuro have is something unique to them. I mean, Mukuro needs the possession bullet to possess people, except for Chrome. He can just... do that. Even then, though, I remember that I got the feeling that it was Mukuro who was the actual Mist Guardian, and because the only way he could do anything outside of Vendicare was through Chrome, she was holding on to the ring. Or something. I mean, I could be entirely wrong about that, but I think there was definitely something more going on with Chrome and Mukuro being connected and being able to share the position of Mist Guardian, and I wish canon had actually explained that. At least, I can't remember that ever really being explained.

I’ve decided to live in the woods now so here are some animals I associate with the KHR characters.

Tsuna: Spotted hyena. They’re the most social of the carnivora and Tsuna loves and thrives around his friends. :) The males also tend to be less aggressive because hyena clans are matriarchal and they’re low in the social hierarchy. Just like Tsuna at school, maybe? 0_0

Gokudera: Oh, so very Chihuahuacore. Only likes one person and is super attached to them. Bites and snarls at everyone else who tries to approach them. Gets upset when someone else joins the family or enters his house. Loud. :/

Yamamoto: A capybara! They’re semi-aquatic animals that are super chill and friendly. They’ll get along with a wide array of animals because of how they’re very social animals, are very calm, and also benefit some other animals like birds for example, though that’s mostly for eating ticks and insects from their fur. A chill friendly guy who helps others? Yamamoto.

I also can’t find more information on this picture, since caiman, another crocodilian, will eat capybara, but it makes me think of how Yamamoto will befriend villains first. Like Byakuran and Squalo for example <:3c

Ryohei: A grizzly bear really does fit him best in my head. They big and powerful animals, associated with the kind of toughness that Ryohei strives for! Also while most animals play fight, bears being no exception, I felt the need to mention this because Ryohei violence moments <3. They’re also known to stay with their siblings for awhile, even after leaving their mother, when they’re usually solitary creatures. They’ll den together, though food is not shared, and while circumstances can cause them to separate, the fact that they stay together at all is charming. Just a big strong animal that can be close to their siblings... That’s just adds to this in my opinion ówò

Hibari: A chicken. They have violent social hierarchies that involve fighting in order to get to the top of the pecking order. This can get really bad sometimes, and they can also get a taste for blood. What is Namimori if not a giant chicken coop? What is Hibari if not the head honcho establishing his place through aggressive pecking?

I rest my case.

Mukuro: Another more predictable animal here, but Raven. They’re birds who work in smaller social groups than crows, which fits better with him and the Kokuyo gang. I mean, apparently adolescent ravens will join teenage gangs with one another. They can mimic the sounds of other birds and animals, like Mukuro and his fucked up possession. Ravens are clever and will trick one another, like if the know another raven is watching them, they’ll pretend to hide food while actually hiding it somewhere else. They can also remember the faces of humans who wronged them and will hate them forever. <3 Fun fact: A group of ravens is called an ‘Unkindness.’

Chrome: She’s like a poorly socialized cat who’s really anxious and is suddenly put in a new environment. She just hides and doesn’t approach anyone, not even coming out for food at first. Slowly you have to try and get her comfortable around you, including the use of food, and now she just follows you around and sits with you.

Lambo: Ferret. Hear me out here, ferrets are mischievous and playful creatures. They love to hoard things and drag them into hiding places, like Lambo hiding things in his gross hair, they can dead sleep, which Lambo does throughout the series but the most prominent example I can think off is in Ciao Ciao!, and lastly, I think he’d do a weasel war dance.

Fuuta: He’d be a red fox. They’re associated with being sly and clever, which is a trait Fuuta displayed when he was running away from the men pursuing him, and throwing them off his tracks with little tricks. They live in small, familial social groups, like how Fuuta prefers to stay home with Nana and his siblings. I also wanted to choose an animal featured in The Little Prince, and the fox was the animal that gave him sage life advice.

I-pin: Hey did you know hares are born precocial and are able to fight and fend for themselves immediately after birth? That’s why I chose them for I-pin, who is already a very successful hitman as a young child. They’re also prominent in Chinese folklore as living on the moon (also interpreted as a rabbit) which then spread to other Asian cultures.

(It’s important to note that I-pin’s design is a bad caricature, but I do want to take into account that she is Chinese and instead focus on displaying that respectfully. That’s why I wanted to include an animal from Chinese folklore/mythology since even though her portrayal is shit and so much shade towards Amano for ever thinking that was okay, it doesn’t sit right either to completely erase that part of her.)

Byakuran: I want him to be some kind of bird. Probably a cockatoo because while they can manipulate you to believe they’re sweet, loving, funny birds, their souls are tinged with evil. The only thing they crave is total destruction and chaos, but also tasty fruits and get sad if they’re the only one left and alone. :(

Shoichi: Rabbits can die from stress. Shoichi gets stomachaches from stress. Checkmate atheists. Spanner also thinks his out of place anger is funny, and I don’t know if you’ve ever seen a rabbit temper tantrum but that shit is so funny. Another characteristic I thought about is how closely rabbits can bond, to the point where if their bonded partner or friend die, they grieve and get depressed, even potentially passing away from it. Byakuran was a horrible person, and Shoichi knew he had to be stopped, but when we see his face after his friend’s death, it’s a hard expression to forget. It’s a small moment, but one that comes to mind often when I think of Sho-chan.

Xanxus: Okay so hippopotamuses are seen as goofy, dumb looking creatures, but they’re actually super fucking dangerous. Agile and surprisingly aggressive, they are literally one of the most dangerous animals because of this. You are more likely to get murdered by a hippo than a lion out in the wild. They’re so fucked up, just like Xanxus.

Squalo: I bet you thought shark but nope! Killer whale. Orcas fight in pods, like how Squalo is a squad leader in Varia (almost made boss too), and these creatures are murder machines. They’ve actually been documented killing great white sharks and fucking whales. Like how Squalo is the strongest swordsman orcas are the fucking apex predators of the sea.

Fun fact: I was also considered sperm whales for Squalo because they’re the loudest animals on earth.
