even tho javier sided with dutch/micah/micah’s goons in the stand off, i really doubt he stuck by for very long like first of all: why would javier willingly associate with a gang of violent racists?? it makes no sense, he wouldn’t have been safe for one minute!! ik he and micah had their moments in the gang (they get drunk together in chapter 2 or 3, and micah schemes with javier in chapter 6) BUT javier also knows that micah is racist (that “fuck off back to mexico” interaction at clemens point) and violent and all around bad (i mean he almost got lenny lynched and had NO remorse) and his cohorts r just as bad. he would’ve been in danger the minute micah started calling the shots. literally the only reason he sided with them was dutch and honestly dutch probably abandoned him (+ bill) at the first opportunity 😬 i wish rockstar offered a canon timeline of events bc i wanna know exactly when javier + bill separated with dutch. or if they even left together, if bill knew javier was gonna go back to mexico and just followed him

“About what, exactly?” There were other people coming in, taking their seats, looking over menus. Arthur looked around at them, pointedly not at Eames.

“For being an asshole. You were offering a hand to help, and I pretty much slapped it away.”

“You’ve always been an asshole, Eames.” Arthur looked at him then, expecting him to be angry. Eames just chuckled quietly.

“I know. But still,” his eyes shone with sincerity, “that time especially, I was a real dick. You didn’t deserve that.” His face grew suddenly serious. “You didn’t deserve any of it.” And Arthur knew he wasn’t talking about only yesterday.

I have a title for it, but right now I’m thinking of it as the High School Bully AU. It’s the slowest slow burn I’ve written in a while, maybe ever, lol. They’re not even friends yet. And if the placeholder title wasn’t a giveaway, I am a bit mean to Arthur in parts of this story. Sorry, Arthur, but you’re just entirely too easy to project my own issues onto.
