Recapping the past few chapters of hofas (I still have like 100 pages left, so please don't talk about the ending yet...)
I have questions.
Why did Morven have a bunch of thongs lying around? Was he a cross dresser?
Who ate Tharion's brain?
When did Sathia become such a slay queen?
Why haven't I noticed that I've been gradually turning into an Aidas simp?
Why is Ruhnlidia so slay? (BECAUSE THEY'RE BOTH GREAT CHARACTERS ON THEIR OWN AND COMBINED IT CAN ONLY GET BETTER)
Can Baxian be my friend?
Where can I write myself up as a part for the angry mob to hunt down and gruesomely kill Pollux? (I think they should skin him and make a shower curtain out of it or something)

Note
don't think about lidia's torque necklace being made of gorsian steel because pollux is a dirtbag and wants it to be an actual collar (and that he wants his work to stay on her longer)
Oh SHIT.
Maybe she DOES have more power than anyone realizes...
WHO ARE YOU? NOW I'M GOING TO BE CONSUMED WITH THIS.

okay the buildings in the back are obviously a painted background, so is the picture of the colosseum. i take offense to the colosseum being there because it was NOT that close to what bears striking resemblance to a roman forum. it was in its own area…. the most recognizable landmarks are the arch, most likely a triumphal arch, and the symmetry between the two sides. one of the two buildings on either side is probably a temple.
ive pulled up a simple map of the forum romanum, aka the forum of rome proper, not just a forum somewhere in the roman empire, which is what i would guess this would be based on. from what i can tell it’s accurate for the buildings they chose to include. the arch i mentioned is a triumphal arch, bearing most similiarities to the arch of constantine but actually that’s NOT what it is cause it messes with the timeline majorly and i don’t want it. it’s the arch of septimus severus despite all appearances. they also choose to leave out the rostra, or the speech giving platform, and replace it with a fountain. odd choice but whatever. just imagine it there for the sake of location.
assuming im right about the other parts, the larger longer buildings on the left and right are each basilicas, julia and aemilia respectively. basilicas functioned as courthouses as well as a public meeting space for other political affairs. 2 of them being shown in the diorama rather than one basilica and then like. another building. is evidence they have a well thought out governmental system in there <3 the temple on the left was the temple of castor and pollux if we are getting into specifics, this temple was often used to hold senate meetings as well. the one on the left was the temple of antonius and faustina but that fucks with the timeline MAJORLY so it’s not it’s something else i don’t care.
anyways that’s the gist <3 probably more than you signed up for but that’s what im here for isn’t it <3

Hello Yaz, I'm curious what you think about this: "Maybe we'll put on a show for you before the end," Pollux said (Hosab, chapter 75). Do you think this is some kind of foreshadowing? Maybe there will be a scene where Pollux forces Lidia to sleep with him in front of Ruhn. 🤮 I hope not, please. There's no doubt in my mind that we'll learn more about Pollux Antonius and his disgusting and lethal behavior as a torturer in CC3. But what role do you think will Lidia play?
Hello anon🤍
Sarah made it seem like Ruhn in particular will be suffering in the dungeons. So that is one of my concerns.
I feel like Lidia will try to help them somehow but she won't leave with them.

A knock sounded on the door, and Hunt twisted as Celestina said, “Come in.”
Lightning crackled at Hunt’s fingertips. The door opened, and in swaggered Pollux Antonius and Baxian Argos.
The Hammer and the Helhound.
Helhound looks so stupid written like that, I’m not sorry. Like, it just doesn’t flow the same way as Hellhound does.
Also Baxian? I can’t tell if his name is deliberately supposed to be that, or it’s just a coincidence that she happened to come up with a name that is incidentally a word in Chinese.
Absolute quiet settled over the Governor’s office as Hunt and his friends took in the two newcomers.
One was dark-haired and brown-skinned, tall and finely muscled—the Helhound. His jet-black wings shimmered faintly, like a crow’s feathers. But it was the wicked scar snaking down his neck, forking across the column of his throat, that snared the eye.
Hunt knew that scar—he’d given it to the Helhound thirty years ago. Some powers, it seemed, even immortality couldn’t guard against.
Baxian’s obsidian eyes simmered as they met Hunt’s stare.
But Pollux’s cobalt eyes lit with feral delight as he sized up Naomi, then Isaiah, and finally Hunt. Hunt allowed his lightning to flare as he stared down the golden-haired, golden-skinned leader of Sandriel’s triarii. The most brutal, sadistic asshole to have ever walked Midgard’s soil. Motherfucker Number One.
Pollux smirked, slow and satisfied. Celestina was saying something, but Hunt couldn’t hear it.
Couldn’t hear anything except Pollux drawling, “Hello, friends,” before Hunt leapt from his chair and tackled him to the floor.
Maas and her goddamn insistence on using epithets all the time!
Hunt knows who these people are and knows their names and yet he uses an epithets for Baxian three times in a row (technically twice - the latter paragraph is from the next chapter) before using his name.
You called him “The Helhound” already, we get that that’s what he’s called.
I’m genuinely convinced that Pollux is an Oscar statuette. Not even “golden tan” or “golden-dusted”, he’s just straight up referred to as “golden-skinned”.
Also, Hunt said that he would keep an open mind and not start a fight. Pollux literally said one sentence and had done nothing else beside it, and yet Hunt immediately starts a fight with him. Like, putting aside they have beef and Hunt has fought them before, Baxian and Pollux have actually done nothing to start a fight before Hunt tackles Pollux to the floor.
Not really a good impression in front of Celestina as well, is it?

Micah turned to Hunt, a cruel tilt to his lips. “You can guess, Athalar, who Sandriel will be bringing with her.” Hunt went rigid. “Pollux would be all too happy to report his findings as well.”
Hunt fought to master his breathing, to keep his face neutral.
Pollux Antonius, Sandriel’s triarii commander—the Malleus, they called him. The Hammer. As cruel and merciless as Sandriel. And an absolute motherfucking asshole.

At the time of the release of the films, The Hunger Games was one of the most popular franchises anywhere. The books by Suzanne Collins were an obvious hit but the movies starring Jennifer Lawrence took things to the next level. Across four entries, they grossed nearly $3 billion.
RELATED: The Hunger Games: 10 Book To Movie Differences Nobody Talks About
As popular as the movies were, they did get released between 2012 and 2015, which is now a pretty long time ago. That means a lot of fans have forgotten about some of the actors to appear. The leads are certainly remembered but some of the supporting players have gone on to have successful appearances in other movies and shows.
10 Robert Knepper
Tumblr media
The career of Robert Knepper has often seen him portray a bad guy. It was the case when he showed up on Heroes, for his work in the Arrowverse, and certainly in his most famous role as T-Bag in Prison Break. That's why him playing someone at President Snow's side wasn't a total surprise.
Knepper took on a small part in Mockingjay Part 1 and 2, which he explained that he did for his son. He played Antonius, who was seen in meetings with Snow. Once he began questioning Snow's decisions though, he was seemingly poisoned to death as punishment.
9 Gwendoline Christie
Tumblr media
These days, it kind of seems like Gwendoline Christie is everywhere. She first rose to fame and is still most known for playing tough warrior and eventual knight Brienne of Tarth on HBO's Game of Thrones. Then, she added Captain Phasma from the Star Wars saga to her credits.
Shortly after debuting on Game of Thrones, Christie scored a supporting part in Mockingjay - Part 2 as Commander Lyme of District 2, a former winner of the Games who helped lead the Rebellion. Christie's appearance allowed her to reconnect with Thrones castmate Natalie Dormer.
8 Elden Henson
Tumblr media
It's hard to believe but Elden Henson has been a recognizable star for decades, first getting noticed in the early '90s as part of The Mighty Ducks franchise for his portrayal of Fulton Reed. He also more recently starred in Netflix's Daredevil series as Foggy Nelson.
Henson's part in The Hunger Games could be considered one of the more difficult ones to pull off. That's because he played Pollux, a former Avox who had his tongue cut out. Pollux is a loyal ally of Katniss' who lives on after the death of his brother Castor.
7 Wes Bentley
Tumblr media
When someone first consumes The Hunger Games, whether it be the films or the books, it's easy to think that Seneca Crane would be a huge part of it from start to finish. As the Gamemaker, he was tasked with putting Katniss in her place but failed to do so.
RELATED: The Hunger Games: Characters Who Should Have Been Best Friends
Since Katniss and Peeta survived due to a threat with poison berries, Seneca was then killed by those same berries. The character was played by the versatile Wes Bentley, who is known for movies like Interstellar, American Beauty, and Mission: Impossible - Fallout.
6 Leven Rambin
Tumblr media
A good place to find unexpected actors in this series is with the competitors in The Hunger Games who aren't Katniss, Peeta, or those part of the Rebellion. One of them is Leven Rambin, who showed up in the first installment of the series as Glimmer, a tribute from District 1.
Due to her skill set and the district she came from, Glimmer was a serious threat to the heroes of the story. Alas, she didn't make it past the first movie due to the nature of the games. Rambin is a veteran actor from All My Children, Grey's Anatomy, and Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters.
5 Alan Ritchson
Tumblr media
One of the things that made Catching Fire arguably the best installment in the franchise is the sheer number of former winners who participate in the Third Quarter Quell. Among them was Gloss, a physically imposing career tribute from District 1 who is a serious threat.
Gloss ends up being the final person killed by Katniss in the Games and is actually the last person to die there in history. Gloss was portrayed by Alan Ritchson, who went on to play Raphael in Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films and Hank Hall in Titans.
4 Mahershala Ali
Tumblr media
While the focus of the movies was on the teenagers, the filmmakers made sure that the adults were played by some stellar actors. Julianne Moore, Donald Sutherland, and Philip Seymour Hoffman are among them but a less notable role was played by Mahershala Ali.
RELATED: Mahershala Ali: 10 Best Roles, According To Rotten Tomatoes
Ali took on the part of Boggs, one of the most loyal people when it comes to President Coin. He goes out into the field with Katniss on several occasions and helped her a ton. Since then, Ali has gone on to have a huge career, including winning two Academy Awards.
3 Alexander Ludwig
Tumblr media
Although the Capitol and President Snow were the overarching antagonists of the series, it was Cato who felt like the biggest threat in the first movie. That's because Cato, a career tribute, was in the Games and could do serious harm to both Katniss and Peeta.
Alas, with the District 12 competitors winning, Cato was killed off before any sequels. Thankfully, Alexander Ludwig, the actor who played him, has found success elsewhere. He has shown up in Bad Boys for Life, Lone Survivor, and as Bjorn in Vikings.
2 Amandla Stenberg
Tumblr media
Of everyone on this list, Amandla Stenberg is likely the easiest cast member to recall. She was a huge part of The Hunger Games, playing Rue, a young girl from District 11 who proves to be a great friend to Katniss and something of an ally. Her death was a major moment in the story.
As pivotal as that is, the movie did come out nearly a decade ago by this point. That makes it easier to forget about Stenberg being in it. Since then, she has become a star, leading films like The Darkest Minds and especially her award-winning work in the powerful The Hate U Give.
1 Jack Quaid
Tumblr media
When Jack Quaid appeared in 2012's The Hunger Games, most people probably didn't know who he was. They were likely even unaware that he was the son of longtime actor Dennis Quaid. These days, Jack Quaid is actually much more of a household name.
In the film, he portrayed Marvel, another career tribute from a high district who dies while in the games. Quaid has gone on to show up in a handful of movies and shows but his biggest role is easily that of Hughie Campbell in Amazon Prime's The Boys.

Chapter 10: The Only Thing You Are
Pollux snorted. “Some females say no when they want it. It’s a game for them.”

Welcome to the end of another week! We're getting into the really heavy stuff, so thank you in advance for taking the time and making the commitment to this fic. I promise it'll all be worth it in the end!
Some temptation for you:
Pollux ran his tongue along the line of her jaw and up her cheek. “It all makes perfect sense, though. I’m quite disappointed in myself that I didn’t see it, but she was just so fucking eager to have me. To please me. Weren’t you, Princess?” He jerked her head further back, pulling a sharp gasp from her lips. “But she let me take the lead, would refuse the weapons I offered. Why would the Hind be so unenthusiastic for the art that she has been practicing since she was a child?” The Hammer turned those glinting cobalt eyes on the shackled prince, his lips burning below her ear.
“Does your mate know about all the things you let me do to you? Was it all for his sake? Or are you just a shameless whore?” Every muscle in Ruhn’s body tightened, blood simmering at the words. He had no right to be angry with Pollux for speaking about her as such. Hel, he had made the same scathing implication. Where the angel had hurt her with his cruel, calloused hands, the fae prince had used insults as his weapon of choice; so carefully chosen to ensure they would wound her the deepest. Was he really any better than the male who held her?

On this final day of @daynightweek I would like to announce the title of my current project, a feature-length DayNight fic taking place immediately after the events of House of Sky and Breath. It is with great excitement (and not a small amount of anxiety) that I introduce to you:
Tumblr media
Ruhn Danaan, crown prince of the Valbaran fae, has no idea how long he’s been in this cell. Days? Weeks? All he knows is desperate hope that his sister is alive and gathering the armies of Hel to come to the aid of Midgard. He doesn’t expect to live long enough to see it, and he doesn’t have any way to know if Bryce even made it, but buried deep in the well of his soul - through the Starborn light and shadows that bind them - is the unshakeable feeling that she still lives. And that is enough. That hope sustains him through the countless hours that he has endured with the Hind and the Hammer.
He had been a reckless fool, hoping to rescue the agent of fire from the Eternal City. Never imagining that it was one of Sandriel’s unholy triarii, the spy breaker for the Asteri themselves, that had weaseled her way into his stupid fucking heart.
He will not lose sight of her true identity again, no matter how many times she pounds on the walls he’s built to shield his mind. No matter how desperately she pleads.
Lidia Cervos has spent the weeks since Ruhn’s capture and Bryce’s disappearance piecing herself back together. With the grim understanding that the Valbaran prince will never see her as anything other than a monster - which she is - she turns her focus to one purpose: keeping Ruhn alive.
She continues living her double life in the company of the sadistic angel that she can’t escape, breaking off more pieces of her soul than she realized she still possessed to distract Pollux whenever she can. And to find a way to get Ruhn Danaan and Hunt Athalar away from the Asteri and back to the relative safety of the rebellion’s underground.
Never again will she allow herself to forget who she is. She is the Hind - a beast of teeth and claws, soaked in the blood of innocents - and that is all she will ever be. If she must use that grisly reputation to get the answers she needs, to save the people who deserve to see the world she’s spent half her life fighting for, then she will do just that.
But the gods don’t care if he’s a frat boy and she’s a demon. They had been linked since the very first time they met on that bridge. And on their way to saving the world, they must first save each other.
Some notes about Verzavar Haz:
1. This fic is IN PROGRESS. It is not yet complete, and does not have a completion date as of yet.
2. When it is complete, updates will be posted daily.
3. This fic is currently outlined at 26 chapters including an epilogue. This can always change, but I try to stick to my outline as much as possible.
4. This fic is dark, and includes depictions of interrogation, violence, and sexual assault. Please heed the trigger warnings when updates are posted.
I am so excited about this fic, and I just request your patience as I work through writing! I’ll start posting teasers now I that I’m deep into the writing process, and I am always willing to answer any questions you have about the story, my process, or even how the heck I came up with this crazy title.
Happy end to DayNight Week 2022!

Chapter 3: An Exercise in Futility
Pollux smiled at him. Slid a hand around the Hind’s blood-splattered throat and kissed under her ear. “Do you like the way my lover looks, princeling?”
-House of Sky and Breath, pg. 776

Hi everyone! It's time for chapter three!! Check out the snippet below, and thank you all for reading!
“Ruhn Danaan’s remaining effects were collected upon his incarceration. Including this.” The shifter lifted her eyes, finding a pale pink quartz between the Bright Hand’s unnaturally long, delicate fingers. She recognized it easily. The crystal that had belonged to Sofie Renast before she gave herself to Cavalla. Before she’d saved her brother and a gaggle of other children.
Before Lidia had killed her.
“You know what it is?” A demand on the voice of an angel.
“It’s a communication crystal, Your Brilliance. You can see the stone is like that of the gates in Lunathion. The rebellion uses them to help with long-range communication.”
“Interesting,” he purred, the sound skittering down her spine and making her shudder. “And can you tell me why it is, Ms. Cervos, that you are in possession of one of these… communication crystals. Used by the rebellion.”
