Falling in Blaseball

The story of Blaseball player Russo Slugger, from their time in the Black Hole to playing for the Canada Moist Talkers.

I've just written the second part today, both parts are very short with only about 1600 words between the two. Content warnings are minor and visible on AO3. Hope you enjoy!

Neither of them are very good at this, are they? For all they want to help each other, they’re not very good at being helped. They’re the kind of people who keep going as if everything is fine, who keep pitching as the world falls apart around them, who keep running as their body burns away.

It’s the siesta. Can’t they learn to stop, for a while? Stop and let themselves be helped?

At long last, I am unleashing the Dot And Workman Grand Siesta Fic upon the world! Fun fact, no fic has ever made me as emotional while writing as this one :')

ok uhhhhh ive never told anyone about this one before bc its kinda. embarrassing? feels like a gimme or something? but i think jaylen hotdogfingers polkadot patterson and jessica telephone are a trio of famous players touched by gods and well what if they held hands about it. its strictly a queerplatonic thing in my mind especially because dot is aroace to me but like. they support each other i think

and then two of them get out of blaseball through alternation and then maybe they go into elsewhere to retrieve What's Left Of Jessica Telephone? as a treat?

Jessica “I fucking hate it here, why am I still here” Telephone being friends with Dot “I’m stuck in Canada” Patterson first (and fun fact! They’re parallels. I think that makes this even cooler) and sharing the bond of “god really looked at us and said ‘yeah you’re going to be more than you can ever imagine and you are going to fucking hate it’ huh”. And then Jaylen “I hate that I’m back and have to kill people” Hotdogfingers is revived and the two of them, as both players who have been beloved/hated by the fans and friends who hold hands, become the Jaylen Protection Squad. And then the Jaylen Protection Squad kind of becomes friends who hold hands and watch movies and are the only people who can understand what the fuck they’ve been through.

Each of them trying to find some way out after the first of the three does it, but Jess’ goes awry and so they go on a little elsewhere trip to get her out. The fans think she’s stuck there forever or whatever but nah they’re all in a shared apartment in Toronto watching a true crime drama or something. Buying groceries. Sometimes they host a released/escaped player movie night where they invite all the hall stars over and watch a movie on a long list that they collected a while ago.

Anyways I love this Sonder I now have to add a fic idea to my list
