Here it is, my hiatus project… EVERY SINGLE player that’s ever been on the Breath Mints roster (plus one that could have been). Not counting short circuits or funko pops for sanity reasons, but otherwise everyone’s here baby

when kina joined the breath mints shi had been the beginning of a series of trades that the breath mints had been going through- first out of the shadows (intentionally, it had to remind itself, they wanted helga out but didn't want to send marquez in for the cost of her. fan centered bs as always), though with the way things seemed to be going ey didn't expect to stay very long. it wasn't good- good enough that they traded hir in but not nearly good enough to keep for the long run, shi told hirself when shi got too comfortable with the people on the team- so ey tried to focus on other benefits that came with being on the immaterial plane proper. almond joys. fresh air. kansas city. sleven elevens. riding too fast down the highway with leach. slacking off with rod. maybe even hitting a home run every once in a while. it's not hard to focus on the simple joys, but it's not much harder to focus on the fact that all of this was temporary. one day the fans won't find any use for em and it'll have to pack up and leave. no point in planting down roots when ey know ey won't make it to the championship. shi keeps her distance from the team, tries not to get too friendly, and sticks to what it knows. it’s a comfortable distance and it’s fine, ey don’t really mind it- shi knows what the game is.

next season though, there’s a newcomer in town. the team wanted him- like REALLY wanted him and he was just a tad too clueless to really GET the team. he’s well liked, and good at the game sure, but utterly in the dark about most things. including the way the fans see him, he think it’s all just one big case or whatever- not that he’s expendable to them or anything like it knows shi is. shi’s absolutely taken by uncle plasma nearly the second he gets on the team. it wants to know everything about him, and shi tries to talk to him about the game and what he thinks of it but there always seems to be something else on his mind- whenever shi asks something it’s usually met with nonsense, but every once in a while... theres a small nugget of gold in the wild stuff he says that makes it all worth it. he’s a fascinating guy. he’s eir first friend, and the reason why it suddenly feels like ey should be making the most of eir time here. even if it’s temporary, the bonds ey make here are lasting. ey’re heartbroken when he gets vaulted so soon after teaching em how to be a real detective and honing in eir seeker abilities. when shi dies on the breath mints, it wonders if he knows how much he did for em.

Dette er mit liv

Jeg har vist i grunden altid haft så’n en lidt hånlig holdning i maven til folk, som bliver meget berørt og hårdt ramt, når kendte mennesker, de jo egentlig alligevel ikke kender, går bort.

Well, det er lige omkring 100 dage siden, gode gamle Kim Larsen stillede træskoene, og jeg kører stadigvæk rundt i min bil og hører ham synge om dengang, da der var “ingenting, der var forbi”.

Eller den måde ordet “miskundhed” lyder på i hans store mund, som gør, at det faktisk giver mening.

Eller når han med verdens gladeste og tørstigste stemme siger “mit bæger flyder over” i recitationen af salme 23 i Jeg er træt og går til ro. Og imens har jeg siddet med alt fra en lille klump i halsen til tårer nærmest piskende ned i skægget.

Nogle gange synes jeg, at ham Kim skriver sanger som salmer, der ikke så meget er af den slags, som er i salmebogen, men mere som i Bibelen, hvor der er virkelig god plads til mørke og minusser og mismod.

De sidste dage har jeg haft This is my life i tung rotation. Den har altid været en af mine favoritter, men teksten er vist først for nyligt trængt lidt igennem til mig.

Her kommer mit lille bud på, hvad sangen handler om. Det er ikke så meget tænkt som en fortolkning, for den er ikke særlig utilgængelig, men mere som en snak eller en svingom eller måske endda et lille botanikstudie med den for at komme den lidt nærmere.

Xanadu var hovedstad i Yuan dynastiet i Kina. Marco Polo besøgte byen, og hans skildring af Xanadus pragt og rigdomme gjorde byen til et symbol på overflod. Så det næsten minder om det, Fristeren præsenterer Jesus for i ørkenen.

Der er to slags liv. To slags overflod. Der er det, man tager. Og som måske tager dig til gengæld. Og der er “givelserne”. At op-/over-/hengive sit liv. Og få det evigt tilbage.
