I find it hard to put to words what it feels like to see my name next to his name. He is my everything. I would not be a writer if it were not for him.

Been staring at this screen for 15 minutes just trying to organize my thoughts and decide what I need to say the most. There's so much on my plate right now.

I'm a fictive of Damien Gorham from The Bright Sessions. I share my system with most of my sourcemates, but very few of them go out of their way to talk to me. I have an extremely strong, uncontrollable passive persuasion ability that's gotten me in a lot of trouble in the past, in addition to just generally having been an immature asshole.

My system is capable of using a construct called Energy Dampeners in the innerworld, that function as a kind of medication for various things like mine- completely voluntary of course. I've been on them for a while now, and I've been super happy, because I was actually able to connect with people and feel like a person. But I recently made the decision to start coming off of them, and this morning at 4AM my powers resurfaced.

My boyfriend keeps telling me that I've grown up a lot and I can do this and learn to control it. I still want to try, but it's so scary. I feel like I'm just going to hurt everyone and turn right back into the jerk I used to be. I have a syskid I look after and I haven't been able to be around him at all today, so he's staying with another headmate couple. Everything I've been working towards feels like it's at stake if I'm not strong enough to do this.

15 years ago, I got an idea to #podcast a novel. With help from Michael R. Mennanga, I got this — my first #studio — up and running. It consisted of a Behrringer mixer board, an MXL 990, Garageband, and a few accessories here and there. The studio evolved over time, and so did I. The 990 is still in my set up, but now I have mics from @shure in there as well. The #software and #hardware may have changed, but fifteen years later I am still podcasting. The amazing man who shared books with us when we were children on Reading Rainbow, and kept us enchanted in Star Trek, is now sharing stories with us again! It is a dream come true ❤️ . These stories are decidedly more adult than those during our #RR days, but they are so brilliant. Levar starts out each show by sharing the title, about the author, and about why he has picked that specific story. Many of them dive into other cultures and times. Many of them bring about an emotional reaction. And all of them make you think. He then takes a deep cleansing breath, encourages his listeners to do the same, and begins to beautifully read the story. . At the end of each story, Levar pauses and then unpacks his feelings about certain moments or how he understands certain choices the author made. It is like a masterclass and a literature class all rolled into one. Occasionally he’ll even do a reading recorded live and then have a conversation with the author. It’s wonderful. . The one I’d like to tell you about today is The Other Stories Podcast. This podcast is produced by a company called Hawk & Cleaver and they’re pretty cool. They’re devoted to filling your earbuds with scintillating content! . This particular podcast if their is a bunch of collections of short stories that all have a theme. So- a few of the episodes could be stories all about cults or folktales or cosmic horror or, anything! It is really cool to see how they find such different pieces that all fit their chosen theme nicely. . There are different narrators and each story runs between 30 and 45 minutes. Occasionally there is a shorter story thrown in the mix, but it is a good listen for a drive to Fort Wayne or doing a load of laundry! . It’s #week11 of #podcastfriday! Lately, the stories that have been gracing my headphones, speakers, and ears are amazing short stories from the podcast Pseudopod! . This is a fictional story podcast. Occasionally they do longer stories that span multiple episodes, but it’s usually one or two short stories per show. They call themselves a horror podcast, but from what I’ve heard in about 200 episodes, this isn’t the type of horror that makes you wish you’d never listened- it’s thoughtful and deep. Sometimes it’s more sci-fi weirdness than utter horror. I’ve heard maybe 2 stories in about 200 episodes that made me go, “woof. that’s tough.” However, there is a mature rating on the Pseudopod website. So please do your research before you begin to listen! . A couple of my favorite things about this collection of stories are that the host Alasdair Stuart and any other guest hosts of the podcast introduce each author, letting the reader know when/where the story has been published before and how to support the authors now. They also unpack each story at the end. They talk about important moments, or key literary devices the author employed. It is a really cool way to process what you hear their plethora of narrators beautifully read to you. . There are tons of episodes of this show. Tons. They’re well into the 660 episode mark, and they never repeat a story. I’ve head a Ray Bradbury story and one from Jack London; I’ve heard modern stories about tooth fairies and stories about zombies in the first Puritan settlements at Plymouth. You will never be bored!
