tkvdvsbdvd genuinely,,,the goatman is interesting in that, while it has some of that Jank on it, it’s only using it as set dressing and the like richness, to be extra, of what the goatman represents in like post-settler folk culture, whereas everyone who ran off to write their own thing just didn’t get that? like the goatman more so than anything is the last vestigial remains of manbeasts before everything dissolved into the pop culture werewolf and superheros and stuff, and like highway men-spirits and stuff that mark folktales from the other side of the atlantic, i think if we ever visit a topic like this broadly id looove to do like a why does the internet cling so hard to stuff like a really stupid understandings of turtle island spirits outside of like just fetishizing, i think something like the no longer passing down like Homelands folk culture, the removal of saints and angels from christian practices, like no longer a need to hand down like cowboy and lumberjack stuff in the Modern day, something something, leaves people trying to like capitalize on it like an ip or something

Not yet! It's been on my to-listen list pretty much since I started listening to podcasts though. I've been really moseying to getting around to it since there was the long hiatus+I heard the ending wasn't great. Idk if that's true though, so I'm still planning on giving it a shot!

i think it’s interesting that the hosts of star trek the next conversation suggest that for the host, deanna is deliberately suppressing her feelings for riker, bc 1) this conversation is about bev and her feelings for odan & 2) both expect the possession (willingly given) of riker to be a temporary thing

when. hm. i want to know how troi thinks about it tbh!!! i want that awkward conversation and perhaps the suggestion that crusher should just wait for the next host to come along instead of slowly becoming accepting of her feelings and decide to sleep with odan possessing riker anyway, and then when it happens a third time! a third host! it’s… too much for crusher, she’d reached her limit the second time, even knowing in advance that it was a temporary measure

but no one really discusses that option, and maybe it just didn’t occur to them during the episode

tho i wonder if troi might have broached the topic more clinically had she been in therapist mode, but then again, idk i find it hard to distinguish troi acting as a friend and acting as a councillor, when it requires troi listening and providing advice for crusher in the episode.

well….it finally happened

in light of the coming sans vs cecil finale, i have to say that there is no bad outcome to this now. you did it. you mad sons of bitches, you did it. we could vote this like a true sexyman showdown or we could vote this for a gag, it doesn't matter anymore. but most importantly, the question that this poll raises is...

WHERE is the undertale/wtnv crossover episode where cecil announces monsterkind's return to the surface right outside of town. because "thousands of weird creatures came out of the nearby people-eating mountain after millennia of imprisonment and are currently settling into town via wacky hijinks" is a VERY night vale thing to happen

i think what i adore about ladynoir beyond high school age (18 and over) is the opportunity it leaves for some of the most DELICIOUS best friends to lovers scenarios. because, like, two people who've been fighting side by side for years? who've known each other long enough to make jokes about it, haha remember when we were fourteen and you-- we AGREED to never speak of it!!!! who've spent so long learning each other inside out, even, in chat noir's case, getting over feelings, that the idea of anything romantic between them is so far off the radar that they don't feel the need for certain boundaries, because why would it matter if they made jokes about how attractive they find each other, about getting married, about how they could totally mess with the rest of the miracle team by pretending they're hooking up because it's so far out of the realm of possibility.

but then there would be that imperceptible shift. the moment where one of them makes a joke and it feels just a bit more loaded than it should. gazes lingering where they never lingered and playful smiles turning curious. the sudden awareness that, while maybe they were cuddling on a rooftop with their best friend, they were also wrapped up in the arms of someone they trust with their lives, and is extremely attractive, and, wait, if the only reason it was platonic before was because there were no feelings, what does THIS mean?

THE TENSION. THE PINING. THE INHERENT MESS OF BEING IN YOUR TWENTIES. PLEASEEEE
