idk if you've seen any of them but W magazine has some great celebrity interviews, they're pretty chill and fun. sometimes it'll feature two random celebs together and idk! the idea of rockstar!joel and actress!reader being cute in those types of interviews is ADORABLE to think about. like them in any interviews together is cute but specific ones like these i LIVE for. ( i adore this couple SO MUCH!!!)

I think they would work around rockstar!joel and actress!reader schedules SO HARD because they want to interview them together so bad and when it finally works out they’re like YES this is how I imagine it going (because I’m too lazy to write out a whole thing but I love this dynamic)
Interviewer: What was the first thing you ever booked?
Joel: I think it was a gig at a little dive bar back in Austin. I was probably… sixteen? Seventeen, maybe.
Reader: Did you get paid?
Joel: I think they gave us one free beer each and I promised to not tell my mom.

Interviewer: What about you? What was your first gig?
Reader: I played Mary in a Nativity scene at school and I was most definitely not paid.

More things I learned playing Dutch on RDO:
-He'll SALIVATE (?) when he gets into something involving excitement; I just noticed this with the bounty role. Mind you it could have been from the wind while riding (realistic), or some anticipation of EXCITEMENT. It kind of ruined what I wanted to be a cool screenshot, turned out to be an 'oh wow, that's realistic, but ew' moment :P
-He'll look to the moon/stars for what I assume to be navigation, which seems very IMMERSIVE as it seems like something that'd happen in that era (maps are a bit tricky to read in the dark while on horseback). I've hit cinematic mode when he does this and it he usually keeps moving in that direction, very cool. He might not always follow the waypoint but he'll follow the moon/stars.
-He seems a bit . . . BOWLEGGED?? Like idk why I didn't notice it in single player but do notice it Online, particularly when watching him walk from behind.
-He has FACIAL TICS that come and go
-If I'm not careful, when there's a lot of excitement around he'll do things like pull lawmen off of their horses if he's close enough. Without my control. It's how he got his first bounty on his head. He requires ELITE HANDLING.
-He rides like an EXPERIENCED RIDER, with a nice straight, balanced posture, which seems realistic; lots of subtle little animations while he's riding too; swats to flies, rolls his head around to get rid of neck stiffness, occasionally adjusting/playing about with the reins, and sometimes fingernail chewing (?), but all the while keeping the horse balanced. My ponies generally have nice perky ears, and they rarely spook under him (not the case with me smh), particularly under gunfire. My horses would always dump my ass for gunfire. They think they're warhorses under him. He looks best IMO on taller horses like TBs, Standardbreds, Kladruber, and Turkoman, though I like him on Mustangs; I haven't tried him on an MFT and a few others); he's too leggy for the smaller horses like Morgans and Arabians and yet looks too small for the bigger draught breeds.
-WOLVES. I've never encountered so many wolves before. Is it the smell of hair pomade? My OC is a chonk and they didn't come after her as much. He's a magnet for them. I've never seen wolves in Scarlet Meadows before.
-I encountered a new (?) ambush; OIL REFINERY GUARDS. Never seen this before and I've been playing since 2020, never seen that one before.
-In addition to the spurs, you can hear the fabric of his clothes and even his chains crinkle as he moves, if the music is low/off. DETAILS!
-SNOW DADDY DUTCH is sensibly so, the most cold-resistant Dutch. Colter!Dutch still isn't warm enough. Fancy Dutch, fuhgetaboutit. I still need to give Snow Daddy a tonic but he's like, w/e, I'll still get the bounty
(he and Johnny Marston had some funny back-to-back arguing in this family bounty hunting trip where they only managed to get one bounty because Snow Daddy drove in the wrong direction on Cinematic Mode (because waypoints are subjective even if they're drawn up apparently) and John kept ordering him to get back on the right path; nothing goes smoothly on the family bounty missions, I miss out on getting some screenshots featuring really funny family feud dialogue because I'm fully lmao because something always gets awry and usually involves Marston or Hosea killing the bounty; Arthur seems to target just the other raspberries and not the strawberries that are needed; good boah)

absolblogspokemon (147k) - pokemon channel: literally just. so fucking passionate abt pokemon? like. idk how to word it but seeing this grown guy just doing what he loves and putting in all this effort and love and crafting his silly little movies and storylines and drinking mountain dew is healing for the soul. 10/10 would recommend.
crossknights (16.2k) - lets play channel: i cant even remember how i found his channel. i wanna say evil genius? just a Guy who plays through various games and has been at it for over a decade. its just... like at that point you Know he does it bc he enjoys it and not just "clout" or shit which i can appreciate. also great if you wanna find playthroughs of more like.. obscure shit? i'd recommend his evil genius, rebuild, and ghost master series' bc they're my favorite
hoodohoodlumsrevenge (304k) - creepypasta channel: i cant usually do horror, but theres something Special abt like. shitty horror? esp internet creepypasta, which is kinda the focus of the channel. but what i specifically like is that hoodohoodlum doesnt just shit on the authors themselves and makes a clear line in trying to encourage new authors to improve-- it doesnt just feel like bullying, which makes consuming the content not feel like im being an asshole
kilian experience (790k) - mixed gaming channel: literally the funniest motherfucker holy shit? his garbage guide series and just general videos all have this fantastic storyline to follow and in-jokes but like. just generally engaging. listen just watch the Cinematic Kilian Experience Pokemon Universe in order and try to prove me wrong.
krimsonrogue (202k) - book review channel: if you enjoy having background noise from like podcasts or those long form analysis videos this Is the channel for you. you Will watch krimsonrogue. while reviewing actual Good Books and comparing book and film releases, the most milage ive gotten is from the reviews of absolute shit books-- if you know him, its likely from his onision book series, but the others are just as good. goes in deep and rips them to shreds, feels like hanging out w a friend.
notslaya49 (2.18k) - lets play/general gaming channel: if you ever consumed online spore content, especially around 2010-2012? you know this guy. or maybe his old channel-- slaya49. and while his spore content is still something i enjoy, its not the only! i also recommend his pokemon, amazing island, and bunni:how we first met playlists. has this kind of absurdist tired sarcastic/ironic humor?? which i enjoy at least.
weedletwineedle (162k) - pokemon channel: while absol focuses more on shiny hunting, weedle is all abt the competitive battling. i dont even Do competitive myself but i love weedle's content. the showdown content has fantastic editing, both for humor and general improvements, which makes it hard to go to other channels. the live commentaries are good for bgs and also help explain for ppl who know pokemon a lil worse. also! nonbinary and uses them/them! which is a lovely change of pace for youtube pokemon content

To keep the bulletpoint list hopefully short: Patch/QoL mods that fix vanilla issues (i.e. USSEP, D13, SMIM, the like), follower mods (save for Miraak since S:EC seems to have something planned for him), mods done to tweak the Werewolf experience, combat & boss difficulty mods, Mods that overhaul NPCs dialogue/AI (guards, citizens in general), weather mods, music mods, & mods that make Argonians & Khajiit look a bit more fun are for sure staying! Any civil war mods I have might be trimmed off, debating on how S:EC approaches reworking the secondary story quest. That being said:
BarenziahQM - For the sole fact it makes that quest soo much better
Paarthunax Dilemma - a solid maybe? S:EC is also gonna do something bout this part of the Blades quest if I read their reddit post correctly, so I might just leave it disabled & see what happens first
Hearthfire Multiple Adoptions - yes pls let me make Tei a papa to every Skyrim also I need it to make Kaidan’s home available for the kiddos
Derkeethus - makes him a more decent follower but eeeh idk i rarely take him out often so it might be snipped itsa maybe
Destructible Display Cases- sometimes i’m too lazy to lockpick
No more Stupid Dog/Immersive Good Boy- Meeko is a good boy I should be able to tell him & also my kids + housecarls shouldn’t call him stupid >:(
More Argonians- I just like these funky reptiles (used to have More Khajiits too but it always would CTD at a certain inn w it installed. F)
Alternate Start- Makes things more spicy
CH- Sorta QoL for the skyrim horses, for sure staying
FTA&C- Again, makes things more spicy, but in the event of some group jumping you while traveling
Vigilant- Maybe?? It’s fun as hell but not really in character for Jeer-Tei. Perhaps re-enabled later as an end game thing alongside BS: Atmora whenever that comes out?
Shout- makes cooldowns more bearable so itsa keep
DSF- also a QoL mod
Immersive Movement + More Tavern Idles + Better Jumping + Immersive Encounters
AFT- big traveling groups are always fun/it makes it easier to horde keep all of Skyrim’s dogs
Race Menu + Racial BM SE- falls under “makes Argonians more fun” like some other argonian focused mods I guess? RBM plays around w everyones height and RM just lets you go buck wild (in a sfw way! unless...yknow you got nsf/w mods i guess) doesn’t hurt to specify tho lol
Alternate Convo Camera- Really fun!! Despite it pointing out how short my LDB is
Deadly Dragons- Makes fighting the Dovah much more fun w all the (honestly not as canon) diversity in looks & abilities! Can recommend, not too harsh on older devices either from what I know
Death is Highly Overrated
Play as a Dragon + Monster Race Fix- another hard maybe because well...you turn into a dragon which isn’t too immersive I guess?? Probably another “end game” mod for Tei
MODS IM EYEING/WANT TO GET (this post is so long so far I’m sorry)
Survival Mods!! (iNeed is one I’m looking at & maaaybe Frostfall?? idk i’ll have to see about that one i heard its not too fun for the Argonian gang) P much looking for something that’ll make exploring the wilds of Skyrim less of a bore
Camping + Hunting based mods! I’ve been eyeing Campfire & Hunterborn specifically, but open to any other suggestions. Same reasoning as survival mods, makes it more fun to travel! Plus, I’m going for an in character experience, it would fit Tei!
Khash & Auri follower mods. I’ve been eyeing these two for a bit, but from my experience w adding Kaidan & Lucien late game, I miss a lot of fun stuff D: So I’m planning on nabbing them for a fresh playthrough under S:EC (or at least, Khash! I uh...don’t know how to download mods manually/always mess it up & Auri doesn’t have the option to let Vortex do all the work unfortunately, but we’ll see!)
Maybe some nice armor mods?? Again nothing too heavy to handle but just to add some flavor(tm)
Saw a mod that made Animal AI a bit more realistic, might nab that
long shot but a mod that lets everyone refer to your LDB via they/them pronouns would be cool too but idk feel like it’d be a nightmare to attempt modder wise. Honestly i’d love the idea of having a mod or two that’ll let me confirm that Tei is trans themselves in game (3DNPC has a quest where you can say your character is, but that’s about it to my knowledge)! Buuut I’m unsure to search for any cause: 1) I don’t want to deal w transphobes ruining my searches & my day on Nexus & 2) Any curious google/bing searches keep bringing up Lovers lab & mmmm no thank you.
and uh...so far that’s the base of it? idk im still looking around & I might have to add/drop some things depending on like...how much my current computer can handle, Not grabbing any fancy graphics mods, that’s for sure lol

s/o and miles getting in a heated debate about what the best episode of steel samurai is except the argument ends up playing out like a courtroom debate. maya and pearl get brought in to "testify". phoenix wants to leave.
idk the gang goes to get some ramen and this happens! I took some creative liberties for blocking purposes, but I tried to stay true to the request. ^^ this is super silly and long and I had a lot of fun writing it out, but i hope that’s what you were looking for, pal.Setting for this one is between 3 and 4 during a hypothetical visit from Maya and Pearl.
“That sure was tasty!” Maya claps her hands in front of her, looking all too pleased with herself. You give her a disbelieving look, as Edgeworth, Pearl, Phoenix, and you were all only halfway finished with your bowls.
You see a spark light up her eyes and you’re uncertain if it’s mischief or genuine interest. “Oh, I’ve been meaning to ask for a while now, but what’s your favorite Steel Samurai episode?”
“That’s… a really hard question,” you say with a small sigh, mulling it over for several moments as you set down your utensils. “I suppose… it’d probably be the episode where the Pink Princess meets the Steel Samurai properly for the first time? The fighting scene climax of it is especially iconic, plus it was just a really well made episode…”
“Ooh, that’s a good one! The way they use their super special combo move for the first time together is super cool! The Evil Magistrate totally didn’t see it coming!”
You’re about to ask which one is Maya’s favorite when you become aware of your significant other’s glare from across the table… and it’s directed at you. Raising a brow, you turn to him and can practically see the veins popping out of Miles’s forehead as he restrains himself from getting involved in this conversation. Clearly, you’ve said something he disagrees with, but he’s still so reserved about his Steel Samaniac status… unlike you and Maya.
“Do you have something you’d like to say, Miles?”
His eye twitches for a moment before he turns away with a scowl on his face. “Ngh… no, of course not. Why would I have anything to say about a simple children’s show?”
“Come on, Mr. Edgeworth!” Maya says with a Cheshire grin. “You did say that you were a big fan of his work and later got an autograph from him, too!”
His face flushes at the accusation and his pointer finger begins to tap away. “I-I did no such thing…!”
You snort, knowing full well that he has it framed in his bedroom, and he gives you a rather stern glare, warning you to not breathe a word of it. Still, you have his attention and perhaps you could still rope him into this because you are curious about whatever it was he’d gotten so worked up about…
“Well, I only asked because you looked like there was something you wanted to say and I was simply curious. Still am, actually.”
“Hmph… Well, I suppose there was something, actually…”
“Oh?”
“…The episode you cited involves the Pink Princess, which anyone would know is not from the original series, Steel Samurai: Warrior of Neo Olde Tokyo. And thus is an invalid answer to the question Ms. Fey posed.” He shakes his head, giving you a smug little shrug.
“But the Pink Princess is the immediate, spiritual successor to the original Steel Samurai show! It’s a part of the cinematic universe, so… I don’t see why it shouldn’t count? Plus, I still think it’s a better episode than any of the ones in the original series…”
This is the first he’s heard of this opinion of yours and he frowns, gesturing at you with his pointer finger rather emphatically as he speaks, “Well, from what I’ve heard from critics of children’s media, the finale episode of Steel Samurai: Warrior of Neo Olde Tokyo ended up being a masterpiece—in spite of all the issues with production leading up to its release. Additionally, the critical final battle with the Evil Magistrate of the series was hailed as a phenomenal climax.”
“But the scene in which he gets to battle side-by-side with the Pink Princess for the first time holds so much more plot significance than another close call with the Evil Magistrate! Even if that’s one of the most significant interactions between them, it’s still not comparable…! They finally find each other and find a true sense of family and belonging! It’s the major moment of that series for that reason!!!”
“Objection!” Miles leans on his forearm across the table, grimacing as he launches into a rant, “It’s not just ‘another close call’…! The moral conundrum the Steel Samurai is placed in that fight is essential to his character growth for his appearances in the Pink Princess series and it sets the stage for their interactions with the Evil Magistrate, as well. It adds significantly more complexity and layers to the story than the episode you’re incorrectly suggesting is superior.”
“How could you say that!?” you ask, slamming a hand down on the table. “The relationship between the Steel Samurai and the Pink Princess is the key to both of their character arcs! The themes established in that episode are far more prevalent in later seasons, plus it marks the beginning of their better later arcs… I get that you—erm, critics—prefer the original series because it came first, but the other series have a definite improvement in writing quality!”
As the two of you glare each other down, Phoenix continues to loudly slurp down his noodles—wishing that he hadn’t agreed to… whatever this group meal has become. He’ll have to pick Trucy up from school pretty soon, so at least he has that excuse to leave and spirit the Feys away from your bizarre lovers’ quarrel. Edgeworth’s covering the bill anyways
You finally break the stare down by turning to Maya right before Edgeworth was going to refute your counter argument. “You started this with your question! So, which one do you think is better? We need you to testify to break the tie.”
She freezes, wide-eyed at your question before finishing slurping up her noodles and flashing you both another smile. “Neither!”
“N-Neither?!” Miles and you both shout in a unison of disbelief.
He recovers before you do, crossing his arms over his chest as he delivers an unintentional glare at her. “Ms. Fey, what do you mean by ‘neither’? In terms of emotional significance, those are the two episodes with the greatest impact…”
“Those two are both all right, I guess, but my favorite’s the episode where the Steel Samurai busts into the Evil Magistrate’s headquarters to save the Pink Princess after she’s been kidnapped,” she says, balling her hands into fists with a determined look on her face, absolutely unfazed. “Only to find that she’s already busted herself out and is wiping the floor with his henchmen! It’s the best fight scene and it shows how awesome the Pink Princess is!”
“…And what about you, Pearl?” you ask, hoping that you’d have a tie breaker yet. “Which do you think is the best episode?”
Pearl wilts under your’s and Edgeworth’s expectant gazes, she looks toward Maya for courage. “O-Oh, um… I-I have to agree with Mystic Maya from what I’ve seen. We’ve watched that episode a few times and it’s, um, very good.”
You and Miles simply stare at them both, absolutely dismayed that you’d both.
The young girl bites her thumb, sensing that she’s only worsened the situation and turns to Phoenix in the hopes that he’d save the day again. “U-Um, but what about you, Mr. Wright? What do you think?”
Maya waves a hand before Phoenix could so much as get a peep out. “He’s still as much of an old fart as always, he’s only ever seen a few of the episodes and doesn’t even appreciate how cool it is”—she puffs out her cheeks as she continues—”but he’s been watching Sailor Moon with Trucy, which isn’t fair! Steel Samurai’s a way cooler show!”

Phoenix lingers for a few more moments, flashing his old rival a lazy grin once he looks up at him. “And here I thought you didn’t like the Steel Samurai, Edgeworth.
Miles’s face flushes red, finger beginning to tap away at the crook of his elbow as he averts his gaze once more. “I…! Nnnghrk… this was entrapment.”
“Ha ha…sure. Well, I’ll see you guys around, then… Thanks again for the food.”
He leaves the two of you alone and a few moments of before you both share a chuckle over the ridiculous events that had just unfolded. When the laughter dies down, you reach a hand across the table as a peace offering.
“Truce?”
“…Truce… for the moment, at least,” he admits w, gently taking your hand in his own and giving it an absurdly formal shake. It’s simultaneously very endearing, but frustrating because you know when he says ‘for the moment,’ he means it.
Not having any reason to linger since your meals had been polished off for you, you decide to head back to his place to spend the rest of his rare day off having a Steel Samurai marathon�� and continuing your argument in private as you started by rewatching the two episodes in question, purely for evidence, of course!

ok me & friends finished watching Buffy s1 last night and it was my first time watching it in a while and here are some thoughts:
Welcome to the Hellmouth/The Harvest: I really struggle to properly judge this whole 2-parter bcos i find it boring tbh but part of that is that everything it does later episodes of buffy did better and i watched it for the first time out of order. idk how it would be to watch it ‘fresh’. however the friends i watched it with who was new to buffy didn’t love it so. 6/10
The Witch: enjoyed this one a lot more than I expected? I think on first watch i found it kind of dumb and it DOES play kind of weird in light of how buffy later depicted witchcraft but still. it’s solid and tbh a better intro to the tone of the series than the first 2 eps. i think part of the reason i didn’t love it as a kid is the full implications of amy’s relationship with her mother just went over my head. 7/10
Teacher’s Pet: I used to think that this was my no 1 least favourite ep of Buffy and I don’t think i stand by that any more, however I still find the whole concept of it stupid and ??? and the fact that it ends w the girls making fun of xander for being a virgin is just unpleasant. dislike. 1/10
Never Kill a Boy on the First Date: this one is fine ig. i tend to forget it exists. another of those ‘later eps did this exact thing better’ deals plus it feels a bit redundant when you’re watching it out of order/re-watching and know what the twist is. THAT SAID new-to-buffy friend did not see the twist coming and expressed surprised when the ‘anointed one’ died so evidently it’s doing something right. buffy’s one-ep love interest is a dick tho. 5/10
The Pack: ok apparently this one is really unpopular and I don’t think that’s entirely fair, i think it’s legit very creepy (probably the scariest ep of the season) and I have always liked it a lot, HOWEVER on re-watch it struck me that the premise is a hm (probably accidentally) racist allegory so i like it a lot less now. 6/10
Angel: hm yeah what i said above re ‘later episodes did this better’. this one holds a special place in my heart for the Angel reveal and the final sequence w Darla and the guns and the strobe lights is legit rly cool. it’s am ambitious one but i think it falls a bit flat. 7/10
I Robot, You Jane: I am DYING to know how this one came off in the 90s bcos the whole premise is just SO stupid by 2019 standards. like I want to like it, it’s perfectly competent and Moloch is one of the show’s more interesting demons (& i think also the first one? neat!), his MO is so creepy, the reveal that he’s built a robot body for himself (with the HORNS) is legit cool and also Miss Calendar is there and I love her. HOWEVER. the whole ‘internet panic’ thing. willow inexplicably reading aloud to herself as she’s typing. i cannot enjoy it. 6/10
The Puppet Show: I cannot BELIEVE I had forgotten about this episode?? to get it out of the way Sid the Dummy is creepy (not in a creepy dummy way, he’s just a creep) but aside from that the mystery in this one is just SO well constructed, the twist about Sid is OUTSTANDING, the talent show stuff is all so good and so funny and Principal Snyder is introduced (LOVE that guy) AND has one of my no 1 fav Snyder moments (’There are things I will not tolerate. Students loitering around campus after school, horrible murders with hearts being removed, and also smoking.’) this is some GOOD shit. love it. 8/10 (would be a 9 if sid wasn’t a creep)
Nightmares: another very ambitious one that doesn’t quite work for me. it sort of, moves its concept back & forth between comedy and drama in a way that I’m sure could have been made to work but just feels a bit confused. that said as with The Witch the implications of this one REALLY went over my head when I first watched it, the reveal about the ‘Ugly Man’ is SO dark and so well foreshadowed through the episode. the parts that work work really well I just wish it could like. make up its mind if it’s a comedy or not. 7/10
Out of Mind, Out of Sight: really like this one. it’s so sad and so creepy. love Cordelia’s development (side note watching this one back to back w Nightmares is bizarre given HOW (intentionally) dumb all her scenes in that one are). love the invisible girl & the reveal at the end w the school for invisible kids that they nEVER COME BACK TO (not a complaint i’m into it). 9/10
Prophecy Girl: another v ambitious one that doesn’t quite come together, that said the strong parts are really strong and when it goes hard it goes REALLY hard. has a kind of, cinematic scope that previous eps don’t have? really good finale. sets the tone for the rest of the series. good shit. 8/10

again, I could write an entire essay on this but the fact that he is literally hitting rock bottom with his childhood self down there is so impactful and powerful and one of the greatest artistic choices they made in this film. also the cinematography is gorgeous.
and oh, by the way, taron actually performed this underwater. no cgi or special effects. where is his oscar.
john is a dick to him on the stretcher but bernie looks so genuinely concerned for his friend and I love that.
it is absolutely gut wrenching when they pump his stomach.
THE CINEMATOGRAPHY AND ANGLES AND SILHOUETTES WHEN IT GETS TO THE BIG CHORUS PART IS SO SO SO INCREDIBLY GOOD AND AMAZING AND I WILL NEVER, EVER GET OVER IT.
the nurses getting him ready for what was probably his biggest/most iconic performance to date is something so incredible, and such a great choice cinematically, story wise, and really emotion wise too. he was at his absolute rock bottom and did one of if not the most iconic performance a little over 24hrs later, and I think this little part really helps to illustrate that.
taron actually hit that baseball and I’m so proud of him for it.
the liftoff is so great. and then it cuts to him in a plane with smoke on his head which just. ugh.
hot take: elton’s addiction wouldn’t have gotten so bad if he had just gone to bernie’s fucking ranch with him

goodbye yellow brick road is such a beautiful song and scene and why didn’t we get Jamie to sing more I mean come on he does so incredibly well in this scene.
also I didn’t really realize that they flipped a few verses around for the movie. and elton yelling and screaming at bernie as he leaves is so powerful.

this is also when he has a heart attack?? chest infection?? I don’t really know but he falls down the stairs and Mr. Dick Manager John makes him continue to perform.
and there he is in the first scene’s costume. singing the rest of yellow brick road.
and there he goes. off to rehab. a full circle moment. good for him for finally taking control of his life and addictions.

and then he finally sits down to write again. and it’s pure magic.
I’m still standing is a a feat of what he’s been through the entire movie. finally, he’s sober, he’s accepting of himself/his sexuality, and is getting to a better place. plus, it mirrors the original music video, and is everything I’ve ever needed and more. *the* perfect scene and song to end upon.
he’s so happy at the end. and then the epilogue starts and says he’s been sober for 28 years and counting, set up an aids charity, still writes with bernie, met his husband David 25 years ago and is finally loved properly (rip my heart out of my chest, why don’t you), has two sons and is retiring from touring. and and the I’m gonna love me again plays with him and taron and it’s just such a perfect song to end, and I can’t.
so. those are my thought while watching rocketman for the 4th time in total, 2nd time this week. sorry that’s it’s so long. I just love this film so much. anyways, it’s almost 2am and I’m an emotional wreck. I’m gonna go cry and go to bed now. thanks for making it this far. :) <3

HELLO EVERYONE ok i’m finally doing this after like 84 years lmao
SO yeah several people in the past few months have asked me about my editing process and i said that i’d hopefully do it after gen 2 stuff and since i’m taking a break from gen 2 and wanna stall bc returning to gen 1 will be painful, ya girl got her ass to go through with it. keep in mind, this tutorial is for people who already know the basics of photoshop. if you don’t there’s many tutorials online that’ll help beginners. i’m gonna be editing a pic of val and chance all dressed up and ready to crash a prom to get lit with their homies maggie and eli
*rosanna pansino voice* LET’S GET STARTED
so i use reshade and i believe the version i have is 3.0.7 or something idk but it’s 3.0 and i switch between 3 presets that are my own. the one i use the most started with pickypikachu’s cinematic preset as a base.
now, i know not everyone has reshade, but there’s still a way you can mimic the DOF effect with photoshop. when my stubborn ass edited everything myself all i did was duplicate the photo, apply field blur and adjust the bokeh lighting, added a layer mask and with a brush using the color black, i “colored” in what i didn’t want to be blurry and BOOM ya got that DOF goodness
so for DOF i use either the marty mcfly shader or the matso shader and even both, like in this case. i also love that sweet mxao bc ooh yess them SHADOWS. but unfortunately bc i’ll never ever let go of alpha hair and you’ll have to rip them away from my cold dead hands, ya get this shit.
the dof and shadows cutting through the hair making it look ugly and blurry and just all around BLECH
so when taking screenshots, i take two photos. one with the dof and mxao and another without those shaders
now i open both pics in photoshop and layer the photo with the effects over the one without
ok this is totally optional and you don’t have to do it but i like to crop my photos and the preset for my cropping dimensions is 1150 x 705 bc that’s what i’m going to resize my photos to (w/ 300 resolution). again, totally optional, you don’t have to do this part but i do.
so now i add a layer mask to the top layer
next i select the brush tool and choose whatever brush i wanna use. i usually switch between these two brushes depending on what i need at the moment. and make sure the color you’re painting with is black.
and now just “paint” over the ugly parts to erase them. depending on your photo this can sometimes take a while, but hey ya get that dof and beautiful alpha hair. i also take this time to erase some of the blurriness that forms around my sims from the dof effect
right click on the layer and select “merge down” and i’m left with this. obviously, you see some parts that aren’t blurred anymore but i just fix it with the blur tool at 100% opacity, zoom in on the unblurred edges and blur them in with whatever brush i choose. i personally choose the one with hard edges and i make sure the brush size is very very small. this part’s also a lil time consuming so ya gotta be patient.
doesn’t that look better? now it’s time to get to the actual editing lmao. first, click layer > background layer to make it a background. this is necessary for me bc of the photoshop action i use.
so in order to give my pics that “crisp” look, i first reduce noise and these are my default settings
then i do topaz clean
then smart sharpen
then i use the liquify tool bc sometimes there’s jagged edges on the shoulders, elbows, chins, etc. that i wanna smooth out. i also use this to adjust facial expressions, like for this i wanna make the smiles curve up a lil bit more bc chalerie are in love and happy
now this is the part where i kinda nitpick bc i’m a perfectionist lmao like i clean up some lines on val’s arms and fix that weird spot on the collar of chance’s shirt, all that small stuff people wouldn’t notice but I DO so i fix it
alright now it’s time for me to draw hair! again, this is optional and i understand not everyone has a tablet or likes drawing hair so skip this if it ain’t your thang. first add a new layer for the hair.
i like to add extra hair to make it more full or fix clipping and “highlights” to kinda emphasize the lighting effects i’ll do later and i usually go with a lighter color of the hair for the highlights OR i do the color of the lighting. in this case i’m just going with a very light brown color. this brush is from this set by castrochew and i have the opacity at 100% and size at 3 px.
this is what it looks like after i draw all the hair. and for the highlights i always reduce the layer opacity to 50-60% or even less than that depending on how subtle i want them to be. after that, i merge them all down.
now it’s time to do all the shading and highlighting. make sure you do it all as separate layers, too. even tho i use mxao it still doesn’t do enough for me, so i always add shadows and i recommend you use dark brown for the shadows as black is a a bit too dark especially when you’re adding shadows around the faces. like y’all don’t want it to look like your sims put mud on their face. trust me guys i contour my face.
now take a hard edge brush and draw where you wanna add shadows
apply gaussian blur and erase any excess “shadows” then reduce the layer opacity to your liking. now keep doing that in other areas where you wanna add shadows. it all depends on the picture and i really just use my general knowledge of how lighting and shadows work. remember, make sure each shadow and highlight you add is a separate layer!
for highlights, use a light color, a soft edge brush, change the brush opacity to 60% and change the layer mode to “soft light”. like with the shadows, just paint whatever you wanna highlight, gaussian blur, reduce layer opacity, etc. then after you’re done shading and highlighting, merge all the layers down.
then to enhance the highlights even more i use the dodge tool with the exposure at 25% and paint over all the highlighted areas
so this is how it looks after i did all the time consuming stuff and now it’s time to play with COLOR YEAHHHHHH
this is the action i’ve been using forever and it’s a ride or die, always got my back, never fails me, always there when i need it. all i gotta do is click on that and press the “play” button and everything’s beautiful and colorful and all my problems seem to go away and suddenly the your lie in april soundtrack is playing the background
but most of the time i untick the “curves” layer from the action as it can be too bright for me and i just adjust the curves of the image to what i prefer.
now it’s my favorite part! time to add that good-ass LIGHTING and since i went crazy with the lights for the background, it’s gonna be fun to do this one hehehe. ok so first duplicate your image and then choose the color of the lighting you want. for this pic, i want the lighting to be a nice light warm yellow/orange color
now for the brush mode, choose “linear dodge (add)” and change the opacity to 35%-45% or hey even higher if ya wanna go bright as fuck. and get a soft edge brush and make it big. like fucking BIG. you see the size i put it at? yeah, make it big bc we want that beautiful shit EVERYWHERE
YEAH DAS DAT SHIT I LIKE. keep painting over areas ya wanna see glow and even paint over the same area twice to make it brighter. hell, don’t just stop at one color. add other colors of light if ya want. add some pinks or blue or purple, adjust the brush size, go crazy. BLIND EVERYONE.
buuuuuuut with all the sweet lighting, it tends to make your pretty pic look all washed out and also lighting doesn’t always work that way. and that’s why i told y’all to duplicate your image bc we’re gonna add a layer mask again and with a soft edge brush you gotta erase some of that lighting. change the brush mode back to normal, put the opacity at 100% and make sure your brush is black and get rid of what you need to. but what’s good about this is you don’t have to be perfect and it’s ok if there’s still some lights on your sims bc now it looks like the light is shining on them awwww. now merge that layer down
now color balance! i like to enhance the red, magenta, and blue most of the time but as always it all depends on the photo and what your preference is.
all that’s left to do now is change the image size. i change the resolution to 300 ppi (it doesn’t really do anything but like it’s become a habit of me to do it so i do it idk) and make sure if you’re making your image smaller, you apply “bicubic sharper” so your image stays sharp when you change the size
AND THIS IS THE FINAL PRODUCT.
so this is my editing process and i hope some of you learned some stuff from this. also please keep in mind that i also encourage y’all to do your own spin on things when you edit. i’m all for taking tips from others and learning cool new tricks but develop a style that fits YOU. eventually you’ll find it and i know that you’ll end up creating something amazing that shows how unique and lovely you are.

Okay *cracks knuckles* let’s go! F, M, and S have already been taken from this list, so feel free to send in... B, C, D, or H, I guess. Yeehaw. This is really fucking long.
A: How did you come up with the title to [TMWCIFTC]? -- It started, as many things do, as a bad pun. The novel The Spy who Came In from the Cold was a cold-war spy thriller, about a British spy who goes over to East Germany as an apparent defect, except he’s actually there to spread misinformation and fuck shit up. He falls in love, becomes disillusioned with his superiors, and is shot dead over the corpse of his lover after climbing over to the east side of the wall. Needless to say, this is nowhere close to what happens in TMWCIFTC. I chose it early on because of the literal meaning: there’s a moth(man), he’s coming in from the cold WV weather, boom shaka laka, we have a title. Over time, though, it’s evolved into another meaning. Indrid himself is coming in from an isolated, lonely existence: he’s rejoining the family that cut ties with him, he’s in love, he’s warm and safe. The moth sure did come in from the cold, and hopefully he stays that way.
E: If you wrote a sequel to [TMWCIFTC], what would it be about? -- Hm. Considering my entire TAZ fic career is a tangled hairball of sequels and prequels, I kind of have this base covered. At the moment, TCOS - aka The Children of Sylvain, the sequel to TMWCIFTC - is about three things: a Pine Guard road trip race against time and the feds, the Spanish Sylvan Inquisition That Nobody Expected (least of all Jake and Hollis, who have to set aside their differences and past conflicts to save Kepler - and who knows, maybe they’ll fall in love along the way), and Alexandra the Interpreter getting woke to Sylvan politics and doing what she can from the inside to change them. In other words, it’s going to be a massive sequel that is the finale of the Amnesty alternate universe I’ve created. It’s this series’ Endgame. (That reminds me, I need an actual title for this collection of stories I’m writing. The “Tin Cinematic Universe” doesn’t quite have the ring to it that I’d like.)
G: Do you write your story from start to finish, or do you write the scenes out of order? -- eh, it kind of depends. It’s like a buffering bar on Youtube videos. I outline what I can until I run out of ideas, then start writing, then add outlines to the end, until the outline is complete and I just have to keep writing.
I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)? -- I don’t have one for reading, but for writing, I fucking love structuring chapters around songs. Classical or otherwise, I love music. All my stories play in my head like a movie screen, and I just do my best to describe what I’m seeing in my head with an accompanying score. It’s not so much a guilty pleasure as it is a writing process. Frankly, I don’t think I actually have a guilty pleasure; the act of writing itself is all the happiness I need.
J: Write or describe an alternative ending to [insert fic]. -- An alternate ending for The Devil Went Down To Georgia would be... interesting. It ended with Boyd-as-Jersey-Devil scaring the pants off some poor broke college kid, who stole his worthless fiddle; then he changed back, and he and Ned went on their merry way to go break into Aubrey’s house and send everything down the drain. If there was one thing that I could change in there, it would be how fast Ned ran. If he ran a little faster, he would have seen the alley; he would have witnessed Boyd turning into the Jersey Devil, or at least turning back into himself; and he’d get a very rude awakening as to what Sylvans are and that his partner (in crime, and everything that mattered) was a fucking cryptid. God, that’d be a fun AU to write. Who knows, I might go do that someday.
K: What’s the angstiest idea you’ve ever come up with? -- At the moment, the only angsty idea that I’m actually conceptualizing is a Hollis/Jake angsty breakup for TSG. (Spoilers, I guess.) I once wrote a very grimdark ending to TMWCIFTC where everyone fell through the ice and drowned. It wasn’t fun. I’ve also mentally killed off each Amnesty protagonist and NPC in various ways, but I never felt comfortable writing them down. I only write angst with a happy ending because those are the kinds of stories I need to hear.
L: How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting? -- 9 times out of 10, I just throw it into the void. I write as much as I can in big chunks, and then kind of hope for the best. TMWCIFTC, for example, is a completely unedited, unbetaed vomit draft. I usually do a quick reread of my oneshots to catch grammar and spelling errors, but other than that I just trust myself that it’s fine.
N: Is there a fic you wish someone else would write (or finish) for you? -- Can I get some kind of resolution for To the Edge of Night? Can I please get some kind of resolution for To the Edge of Night??? I was 14 chapters into that bastard before I a) became a more casual MCU fan and b) discovered TAZ. It was such a niche fic with such a niche structure - LOTR as galactic Asgardian propaganda to cover up Odin’s mistakes - that at some point I lost interest in it. I just saw Endgame though, so now I might get some inspiration for stuff to bastardize.
O: How do you begin a story–with the plot, or the characters? -- Characters. When coming up with character backstories, I can usually find ways to slot their lives together that necessitate a plot. I love character-driven stories, where their actions actually do shit and their words actually mean something, in favor of getting dragged along behind the plot like tin cans behind a car.
P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?) -- I’m definitely an architect, but in a really messy way. My friends can attest that I do an insane amount of planning for each story - often in their DMs, sorry about that, Fae, Cro, Indy and Aline 😬 - and all that usually ends up in a stream-of-consciousness rant outline on Google Drive. Knowing where the story is going helps me a lot, but the planning I do is definitely just building flower beds in which to sow seeds. Or building a greenhouse. I plan the bare bones of a story, and things get really wild within it, but it does follow a logical plot structure.
Q: How do you feel about collaborations? -- I have a lot of respect for the people who can successfully pull it off, but idk if i’d ever want to do one myself. I get really possessive of my stories and ideas and like to be the one in charge of their execution. That being said, some collabs have produced amazing stories. I don’t mind reading collab fics, but actually being in a collab grates on me more than it should.
R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence? -- I’m definitely influenced heavily by Neil Gaiman. I read American Gods and Good Omens a lot while I was trying to write TMWCIFTC; not only was it a good brain break, but I was able to pick up a lot of tips on scene pacing, concise yet expressive language, and character interactions. My creative wriitng professors have always told us to read so we know what to steal - not in terms of content, but in execution.
On the fanfic side, @miamaroo is a huge inspiration for me. I’ve been reading Northern Migration a lot recently, and I love how its canon divergence is so worldshaking and so complex, but is still familiar in nostalgic yet terrifying ways. I read it back in October, went, “Huh, I wanna do something that wild. And if miamaroo can do it then I sure as fuck can too,” and I started planning TMWCIFTC during that one month dead zone the McElroys took last year. Northern Migration is one of the best, most coherent, most stunning, and most incredibly written TAZ Balance AUs I’ve ever read, and if I hadn’t read it, I wouldn’t have been inspired to take the fuckall huge plunge into TMWCIFTC.
S: Any fandom tropes you can’t resist? -- Bed sharing and cuddling, hand kissing, wrist kissing, whump, sympathetic villains. Canon divergent AUs are my absolute favorite things to both read and write. Anything that would turn me into Charlie Kelly slamming his finger on a bulletin board screaming, “CAROL,” is a fic I would give my life for.
T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand? -- Not a fan of a) woobification and b) flat villain characterization, to the point where the story is riding on villain tropes instead of an actual person or plot. Character nuance is always something I look for when I read. I don’t usually get bitter about tropes, though; some stuff, when subverted, works really well. I fully subscribe to don’t like, don’t read, don’t write, which is why I don’t write anything that warrants AO3 content warning tags or an Explicit rating, in favor of focusing on plot. Every author has a reason for what they write and how - be it their level of experience, personal preference, or simply the joy of writing something and getting it out there - and I respect that. Within reason, of course.
U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much. --
@miamaroo, for reasons I’ve already discussed. My favorite TAZ Balance author hands down. Read Northern Migration and give it the love it deserves, or I’m replacing all the faucets in your house with silly straws.
@transagentstern. Fae has a bunch of absolutely incredible fics and an amazing grasp on characterization. We come from the same place with AUs, in that canon is but the bare planks on which we put the drywall of our plot an characterization. They structure AUs and character backstories from the ground up in believable and emotionally raw ways. Also they have great music taste. I especially like their interpretation of Indrid in Moth to the Flame; he, like all the other characters in the story, is far from perfect, and his character arc is explored in relatable ways that I love to read.
@keplersheetz. Aline - theneonpineapple on AO3 - researches like a motherfucker and has a wealth of knowledge/experience/viewpoints to draw on, making author-author interactions with her an absolute delight. She’s also doing the lord’s work with rarepairs. Spin a wheel, find a ship, and she’s probably written for it or at least conceptualized it. Reading her character studies and stories of the old Pine Guard - aka Mama’s original crew, before the current PCs joined - is always a delight. I’ve also hashed out a lot of details for The Children of Sylvain, especially for Mr. Boyd Mosche, guilt-wracked Jersey Devil extraordinaire, with her help.
V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose? -- Not gonna lie, I’m fine with a lot of stuff that’s out there right now. It’s been a hot few months since I’ve actually stopped to read fic, but from what I recall, most of the fics I’ve read have done a good job of keeping things intact.
W: Do you like more general prompts, or more specific ones? -- The vaguer, the better. With really specific prompts, it usually feels as if the story’s been written for me already; with vague, general prompts, I have more agency to explore my own ideas. Some accompanying detail is usually nice, though. For example, the coffee shop/college/flower shop AUs that @transagentstern wrote are my ideal prompt for drabbles: premise, a little bit of open-ended detail, clear explanation of what’s going to happen while leaving the rest up to the imagination. Good stuff. If it’s for a long-form piece, though, I prefer full agency, or even just some time to lie facedown in the dirt and wait for an idea to strike me.
X: A character you enjoy making suffer. -- Yes.
Y: A character you want to protect. -- Tim.
Z: Major character death–do you ever write/read it? Is there a character whose death you can’t tolerate? -- I do read lots of major character death, yeah, though not always for TAZ. There’s something cathartic about seeing a character die, but sometimes it sits wrong with me in ways that I don’t like. As for writing, I’d rather kill a character for a reason rather than for shock value/for the Feels, though said Feels can accompany the reason.

Fav thingabout him: He is so sweet; if I had a German uncle or grandpa or something, I'dwant him to be mine. He obviously takes his work very seriously too. He(initially) seems like a very cautious, careful sort of guy...unfortunatelythis attitude does not extend to all aspects of his life.
Least favthing: He's too sweet, dammit. His naivete and trusting nature made megenuinely angry, because I couldn't believe anyone could be so stupid aboutanything when he seemed fairly smart about everything else. I don't think youhave to be "street-smart" to understand that breaking out of an enclosedcompound without permission isn't the sort of thing you'd be allowed to getaway with. I was annoyed at how he felt like a plot device at the endthere--that he just existed to force Mike to have to kill him. It's a fault ofthe writing more than the character. Everyone could see the end coming from amile away, which is (as far as I can remember) unprecedented in the series.Even things that were heavily telegraphed and seemed obvious usually carriedsome sort of unforeseen twist, i.e. everyone thinking the lantern was going tobe involved in Chuck's death, but not knowing it was going to be a suicide. Thesecond they showed Mike building up a relationship with Werner, everyone knewexactly where it was headed. Also, this is a weird pet peeve, but I hate how healways called Mike "Michael". Bro, you've been working with him formonths, you are the only one who calls him that.
Fav line:(agh, unfortunately I can't recall any because I don't have any way ofrewatching season 4 at the moment. I love that he was courteous enough totranslate into English that he felt like he was going to throw up in the bumpyvan ride.)

OTP: Werner& his unseen wife, I guess. (That phone call before his death was so sad. I hope nothing happens to her, but this is the Breaking Bad Cinematic Universe, so bad things often happen to innocent people.)

unpopularopinion: I have to admit, I don't know enough of what the popular opinions onWerner are to know what an unpopular opinion would be. I liked him, I just wishhis character arc felt less contrived and that he was treated like less of adevice. I also have seen some people in some places comparing him to Walt,which doesn't really make sense to me, because personality-wise they're justtoo far removed from each other. (Then again, people were even comparing dopeyPryce to Walter White, which was also a stretch!)

Fav thingabout him: Honestly, as a fellow cowardly, anxiety-ridden, socially maladroit, perfectionistolder child, aspects of him are extremely relatable, frightening as that may beto admit. (My younger brother is of the slacker/moocher variety, rather thanthe con man variety, though.) I don't agree with everything he does, but I understandwhy he does it. (This is actually pretty similar to my attitude towardsSkyler's actions in Breaking Bad--I don't necessarily agree with her decisions,but I mostly understand why she acts the way she does.)
Least favthing: I think he should've been willing to at least put Jimmy on some sort ofprobationary path to HHM after he landed Sandpiper. HHM was under no obligationto hire Jimmy after he passed the bar (a lot of fandom seems to feel otherwise,which makes no sense! I don't think any other firm would've wanted to hireJimmy either!) Jimmy probably would've still managed to screw something up, butat least then if Chuck wanted to officially bar him from working for HHM forgood, Jimmy would know why, and what it was that he had done to cause that. Itdoes no good to punish someone if he doesn't even understand he's beingpunished, which is what the whole issue is in the first place with Chuck goingbehind Jimmy's back and using Howard as the perpetual bearer of bad news.

OTP: ...althoughI must also confess a SHAMEFUL desire to ship Chuck/Howard, because it's gotsuch a messed up power dynamic, because they've known each other for at least18 years, because Howard's clearly still so much in awe of Chuck (which Chuckprobably enjoys), and because neither of them seems to have any other friendsor close relationships. (Are we ever going to learn what's up with Howard'swedding ring? Even my mom thinks Howard is gay at this point! And what's upwith papa Hamlin? Did he die? Retire?) Canon-wise, I'm actually really curiousabout Chuck & Rebecca's relationship, because I have to wonder what it washe did that caused her to divorce him, but not bear any particular grudge oranimus towards him afterwards. He was clearly really upset about the divorce,but doesn't bear any ill-will towards her either. She doesn't appear to enteredinto any new relationship after the divorce either. It's all very mysterious.
nOTP: I can'ttell if this person was serious or not, but I swear I remember seeing someonepropose some theory that Kim had fucked Chuck at some point, and that's gonnaget a BIG NO from me.
randomheadcanon: oh god I've got like five hundred of them at this point. Themassive infodump that was Chuck's obituary in the season 4 premiere contributedto a lot of them, I think. I imagine Chuck's freshman year of college, at age14, was absolute hell for him. He was so proud to get accepted to an Ivy Leagueschool, but had been upset it wasn't a more prestigious one, like Harvard,Yale, or Princeton. (He had applied to them and had a few interviews, but unbeknownstto him, he had been heavily penalized in their byzantine admissions proceduresbecause, despite his sterling academic record, they didn’t find him outgoing or athleticenough.) His parents put him on the train to Philadelphia by himself, with afew suitcases, a map, and $50. He had no problems getting to the university,but was pretty overwhelmed right off the bat by the fact that everyone else wasolder and wealthier than him; he had dealt with this to some extent in high school, butnot to this degree (I headcanon his fictional alma mater, Francis Xavier HighSchool, as a typical Jesuit all-boys preparatory school that draws heavily fromupper-middle-class suburban families). Here he was, a literal child, thrustinto the adult world, and the world of the elites, at that. He probably feltself-conscious about things he hadn't even realized he could feelself-conscious about before, and spent at least a couple nights sobbing intohis pillow, and praying that his roommate couldn't hear him. He made a coupledesperate attempts to fit in, with a relatively low level of success (e.g. goingto a party and trying to impress people there by playing piano, only to get abeer spilled on him instead), before deciding it wasn't worth it and he wouldthrow himself singlemindedly into his classes and extracurriculars. He had hisfirst-ever panic attack sometime during his first semester, and wound up at thecampus doctor's office because he had convinced himself he was having a heart attack.On being told he was physically fine, he was indignant, but all the same, henever told his family about the incident, or anyone else either. Somewherearound this time, he also gets a letter from his parents, telling him he'sgoing to be a big brother in a few months, and won't this be exciting for him?(He wants to tell them his life is too exciting for him as it is, but saysnothing, instead writing back that he is sure having a younger sibling to helplook after will be the greatest experience of his life. He almost convinceshimself that he means it.)
unpopularopinion: I DON'T HATE CHUCK. (The most unpopular opinion of all!) He's myfavorite character on the show, with the obvious disclaimer that saying acharacter is my favorite doesn't mean I approve of all the character's actions,etc. Also, I know he's just a fictional character, but I'm still pissed offabout people celebrating that he killed himself & saying they hope it waspainful & stuff like that. Like, how much of an asshole do you have to be?What a horrible thing to say.

i got the (unethically made) viking AC game second-hand bc i was like "fuck it, i just need a basic-ass Game where you run around a big map with 20000 treasure chests" and. i hate it
one of the main problems with standard triple-a open world games is that they don't seem to understand that what you leave out is just as important as what you put in (e.g. related to the graphics). the other main problem is that the writing is dogshit. further discussion below the cut
an example via a quest: there's a woman who's told some dudes that if they find her comb, she'll reward them with sex. there’s like 2 guys at a waterfall looking for it. after you find & give her the comb, you walk 50m away together, on a picnic blanket. there's some unsexy innuendo dialogue implying she will have sex with the pc (something like “your hair looks very uncared for. i can reach in there and tear out all the tangles” “yes, i would love if you combed out all the... knots”), then the scene fades to black. when we fade back in the pc & npc are just sitting there. medium shot, standard camera angle. “you’re sexy, i had a good time” "yes, i had a good time. thanks". (video of the end of quest discussion)
like why were there two men in the snow trying to find her comb? are they still there freezing, like, half a block away? while the protag has sex outdoors? in the snow? they explain why the lady does things this way. but it doesn’t really line up with what you did to solve the quest? i’m nitpicking by asking these questions, but with the hyper-realistic presentation of this style of game, and how little the quest gives me, it’s difficult for me not to ask them
idk what you’re meant to get out of this other than “tick a checkbox”. you could say there’s worldbuilding (the protag doesn’t have a strong reaction to the woman’s behaviour, and this scene happens for the female pc, indicating that homosexuality & some amount of promiscuity is accepted), but eh...? it’s not significant, and it wasn’t funny, fun, challenging, etc. there are hundreds of mini-quests like these, most of a similar level of depth,,,, i’d rather less content in higher quality
i understand why people like this sort of game!!!! sometimes mindless ticking checkbox good but (even then) for me i’d rather there be at least a little more substance. or i’d rather be playing cookie clicker

i was hype to play a buff muscle woman with an axe, but i’m starting to get a “are we the baddies?” vibe in an unfun way. so far she’s a viking stereotype with a half-personality, an asshole obsessed with honour. who is soon to become a colonialist
if i loved vikings i’d DEFINITELY be into this more
about the graphics - i’m not sure why this kind of simple pulpy story is being told with this art style? or, i understand WHY (the Gamers expect it, and it’s probably more palatable to a general audience who expect console games to be like prestige tv shows - even if they rarely have the quality of story to back it up), but i feel like this story would be easier to accept if it had some amount of visual panache (e.g. any visually arresting movie, like a john wick or a w*s and*rson film) or stylisation (e.g. cartoonier art). i’d also love if mini-quests used any sort of cinematic technique (e.g. more appropriate camera angles,) even if it meant stealing the camera from the player
i feel like the opening part of the story should’ve taken less time
WHY DO THEY STILL HAVE THE SCI-FI FRAMING DEVICE...... if i hadn’t been into gaming early enough to know something about the first few ACs, i would be so confused
combat is so easy!!! but it also feels like if i turned up the difficulty, it would become unfair?

let’s talk justice league
OKAY so first of, because it has been what everyone has been arguing about over the last couple of days anyway
the amazon outfits
okay so here’s the deal;
the amazon warriors are still wearing, at least to my very untrained eye, the same armor as they wore in wonder woman
ad rem; they were not wearing any more revealing clothes
now, the point of discussion is rather the guards of the motherbox
there were about 6 or 8 of them, that guarded the temple where the motherbox was being kept, and they are the ones wearing the outfits that you can see in the pictures floating around social media lately
and i’m not going to defend that, because it’s still an objectifying decision, even if i guess you could argue your way around that the temple guards doesn’t need as extensive armor as the warriors, seeing how they don’t actually take part in any actual battle, but w/e
the amazon warriors are still wearing their original armor from wonder woman though, and they are still kicking ass
and like
the way they kick ass
ngl, the amazon section of the movie was my absolute favorite
the way they just kept sending the motherbox forward, refusing to let anyone stop them was just
argh
i’m so empowered and also kinda gay
i also really enjoyed the atlantean portion of the movie, short as it was, and my darling mera, i can’t wait to see more of you in the aquaman movie next year
but the actual movie justice league?

like, you can tell that it was a very fractured mess of a production
because it has the heart, i think it has the basic storyline, and the actors have the chemistry, which is what i think is you need to produce a solid movie
but it never quite succeeds in tying it all together
like, it doesn’t really feel like a movie
it just feels like snapshots stacked on top of each other, trying to tell a story
which doesn’t make for the best cinematic experience
and it makes me so sad, because this movie had so much more potential, like i said; it has the heart, it has the story, it has the chemistry
but it just never quite succeeded in tying it all together
it’s also too short
i haven’t really kept updated with the production news, but they’ve been forced to cut it down??
which is very sad
it’s just this side of a little too rushed, and i really missed some key scenes from the trailers
most notably diana and bruce being the Literal Mom And Dad of the league down in the batcave, alfred’s “i hope you’re not too late” (because who was that even supposed to be addressing???) and then clark’s “i’ll take that as a yes”
this also ties back to how the movie feels like just snapshots stacked on top of one another; you don’t really get the storytelling in between, which really builds a story from the core
i was also not a fan of the superman resurrection plot
superbat is real, and bruce is so in love and so heartbroken, but i just
idk, it just didn’t sit right with me
like, don’t get me wrong, i adore our clark, and i like superman
but i would have really, really enjoyed getting to see the league, as they were advertised, trying to save the world on their own
because their sequence fighting steppenwolf before clark showed up was magical, and some really hecking cool teamwork
and then superman just felt like an unnecessary deus ex machina, and just

and like, while bruce’s “he was a better man than i am” was very gay and very much appreciated, i wasn’t really a fan of the insistence that what the team really needed was clark
like, let bruce take that responsibility, no matter how reluctantly it might be, and let him build that with diana
i also guess it’s because this wasn’t how i expected clark to come back

i guess it’s because i wanted it to be of clark’s own volition??
because dawn of justice built that up!! clark’s heartbeat was there!!! he wasn’t really dead!!!!!! we knew he was coming back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and yeah, idk, that whole plot point just didn’t sit right with me
i also feel like all that time they spent on that plot could have been spent in so much better ways
and yeah
just not a fan
i also really wished they would have given lois more space
like, i know, she isn’t really a part of the story, but she really, really lost a lot of her agency
she was really just superman’s love interest in this, and i’m not a fan of that
batfleck is growing on me though
i’m slowly coming around to his whole aesthetic
the batmobile is very cool my brother-in-law is going to enjoy this one
and the whole detail of him using a petty criminal to lure out a parademon, and then just leaving him tied up and abandoned on a gotham rooftop was so spot on
but just let him have his batfam already
like, when bruce asked for the nightcrawler, my brain shortcircuited, and for just the tiniest little moment, i thought he said nightwing and i just went !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! until i realized what was actually going on
i know people have been uncertain of ray fisher’s and his performance
BUT OH MY GOD
he’s truly the cyborg we deserve
oh my gosh
i’m really looking forward for them to get the time and space to really flesh out his backstory in his solo movie and for him to grow even more as a character
because wow
it was so good
ezra miller as the flash was everything i never knew i needed
oh, the sweetheart
he’s a dorky jewish boy who’s possibly autistic?? who just wants to save people and make friends
and he brought both the humor and the depth, and i’m so in love
also, what even was his running my darling
i’ve been so PUMPED for jason momoa’s interpretation of aquaman
and oh man, was i not disappointed
he just wants to rock n’ roll, and oh my god, i can’t blame him
it was just
so much fun
and i feel like he really got the short straw in the backstory section, but that may be because of his movie coming up already next year
because i was really intrigued by atlantis, and arthur’s place there, and his entire relationship to it
and even though i’m not really a fan of his animosity with mera, it’s gonna be pretty exciting to see them grow into the power couple we all know them to be
i’m not even ashamed of this; i cried during diana’s introduction
i just love her
so
much
and one of my biggest fears before the movie was that diana was going to lose some of her agency
but she’s still the wonder woman we know and love, keeping her faith in love while kicking guys asses
i also love how they dealt with her leadership role, because it really placed her on equal ground with batman and superman
and this is the holy trinity we deserve
i would have so absolutely adored diana and arthur’s teamup against steppenwolf, if the events of the flashpoint paradox didn’t leave a sour taste in my mouth every time i see them standing next to each other
and why is dc like this
AND SPEAKING OF i literally screamed at that one lantern sighting, and just give us hal you fuckers
i really, really loved how easily clark took to both victor and barry though
because he already kind of knew bruce and diana, but he opened up so quickly to both victor and barry, took them under his wing and joked around
and he really is, as my favorite trash can once put it; america’s dad
and please, please, can i get dinah in the dceu PLEASE
but the most logical opening for that would be in the batgirl movie that joss “motherfucker” whedon is directing and NO NOPE GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM MY GIRLS YOU CREEP

which is very valid criticism, because it was such a huge part of both man of steel and dawn of justice
but they actually thought that through
yes, they completely destroy almost an entire city
but they have that city be a mostly abandoned nuclear power site, with very limited civilians around, and they do make a huge deal out of getting everyone out before someone gets hurt
and how it in the end becomes a kind of alien garden was kinda sweet
and speaking of “just this side of a little too rushed”; i actually can’t remember the end of the movie??

1) How old were you when you first starting writing fanfiction?
eleven? ish?? it was around the time i was finishing primary school!
3) Do you prefer writing OC’s or reader inserts? Explain your answer.
OCs because theres a certain disconnect from the place im writing from, and whenever i use 2nd person it often isn’t with the reader in mind, bc when i write 2nd person i imagine that its the authors voice, so the narrator isn’t the reader its the author. idk if that makes sense. anyways OCs are fun bc there might be elements of a real person in it but they also seems incredibly autonomous
5) If you had to choose a favourite out of all of your multi chaptered stories, which would it be and why?
most of my multichaptered stories date back at least five years, my most recent one would be fuel cap, but i am very fond of the bear n the boy, and so im rewriting it!
7) When is your preferred time to write?
hmm between 9pm to around 2am it’s when i have the most inspiration!
