The fact that Percy’s default response to talking about mortality as a 12-year-old is just “¯\_(ツ)_/¯” is so funny

Walker? Sir? Mr. Actor?
Jokes aside. That look? That anger? Percy finally having enough and being pissed off with a God who doesn’t care about his children, insulted his friends, ruined their quest and wants to start an unnecessary war where he has nothing to lose? But most importantly… Percy literally QUAKING with unchecked rage for a God who came in the way of him saving his mom?

There’s something about Percy spending the whole episode remembering how upset he was with his mother for separating them, but with this newfound understanding of why she did it, and then deciding to leave her (temporarily) at Hades’ palace because it’s the right thing to do, regardless of how much it hurts.
“Hold fast, Mom,” because they’re braving the storm that was made to break them.

I feel like people keep forgetting how adaptations work. Things are gonna have to be cut and be sped up and changed, that’s how film works.
“I hate that the trio knows everything”
1) Grover and Annabeth have been living and training at camp for years, they have to have learned more than just combat skills
2) Sally Jackson told Percy story after story after story. That was her way of protecting him and preparing him. It’s not that much of a stretch that he has a lot more mythical knowledge than he’s given credit for
3) Hermes gave them a whole-ass letter. One we did not get to hear or read. It can easily be inferred that he told them what and who was waiting for them, especially given how distraught he sounded when talking about how every demigod who tries to go to the underworld has ended up dead.
Yes, it’s not exactly the same. And maybe the me of 2010 would have been extremely put-out. But the me right now, who not only loves these characters to death but also understands how text to film adaptations work, I loved this episode and I love this show

This was not how I thought the Poseidon and Sally flashback would be but I am LOVING it. The way Sally is the only mortal who could summon a god literally immediately and just talk freely and vent to him and Poseidon was so in love with her.

GUYS!!!! YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH IM FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW!!!! THE SCENE WITH POSEIDON AND SALLY IS SUCH A GREAT ADDITION TO THE TV SHOW FOR SOOO MANY REASONS, BUT MOSTLY BECAUSE IT SHOWS HOW MUCH HE LOVES HER AND PERCY!!!
Let me explain.
In episode 2 Luke gives the intro to burnt offerings, explaining that you burn what you’ll miss the most so the gods will listen.
In this episode (ep. 7) Sally burns something that’s not even hers, but the second she does, Poseidon is there to listen. And he even says that!
Poseidon can’t interact much with Sally, and it’s too dangerous for him to do so with Percy. The Olympian’s are constantly watching. You can even hear thunder in background after Sally asks if he wants to talk to Percy, a reminder from Zeus that if Poseidon talks to Percy, it will confirm he is Poseidon’s son.
POSEIDON LOVES THEM BOTH SOO MUCH, AND HE HAS TO STAY AWAY TO PROTECT THEM!!

Giving Hades the temperament of a middle school guidance counselor is probably the greatest use of characterization I have ever seen in my life

I was thinking about the “four pearls” situation and the payoff just hit me.
The difference is so significant because in the books there is already no hope. We know there are only three pearls and four people. But giving him the hope of saving his mom is a devastating blow because can you imagine how heartbreaking it’s going to be when Percy inevitably loses or breaks the fourth pearl? His reaction? Walker’s acting?
They basically just made it a lot worse for us, y’all 🤡.

still thinking about how Crusty told Percy that he "has his father's eyes" and how all that went through my head was Conan Gray's voice singing "God, i have my father's eyes, but my sister's when i cry"
