There’s something about Percy spending the whole episode remembering how upset he was with his mother for separating them, but with this newfound understanding of why she did it, and then deciding to leave her (temporarily) at Hades’ palace because it’s the right thing to do, regardless of how much it hurts.
“Hold fast, Mom,” because they’re braving the storm that was made to break them.

When you realise that Sally was sitting in the rain in the first episode because she was probably trying to feel closer to Poseidon, or at least like he was with her in that moment.

Episode completed…The Good:
Cerberus is adorable I love him I’m glad Annabeth playing fetch with Cerberus stayed in. Wish it had the book’s emotional impact
The Crusty beds themselves
‘I trust your dad’ from Annabeth is soooo interesting. the potential to explore that…..
Grover shoe scene was solid
Finally it’s 40 minutes
I liked the Kronos reveal. Walker ACTED you could see the second he figured it out
will admit all eps are shot well for a kids show. They continually do interesting things w/the camera work
The Bad:
I’m so pissed at the Crusty scene I don’t know how to explain it. it’s my 13th reason
No cus fuck u Disney for not letting Percy manipulate & decapitate him. Percy deserves a little decapitation!!!
They took the fun out of Hollywood Death Waiting Room. Where’s the silliness? Where’s the charm?
One BIG issue I have is the show takes itself way too seriously. Where’s the camp!!! Percy Jackson is supposed to be CAMP!!!
Cliff scene was stupid
stupid way to remove the 4th pearl—they shoulda stuck w/Poseidon giving him 3. Poseidon’s the best Olympian dad but that’s still a low bar
I am begging you I am BEGGING YOU please gods SHOW don’t tell me shit
I need Sally’s actor to learn how to say a contraction
No comment:
School flashbacks with his mom (actually too many comments. I’ve got weirdly conflicting feelings)
What the master bolt prop
Hades casting
Why are gold statues in everything
Sally & Poseidon

i understand where everybody is coming from. i understand that, true, there are things that are different from the books and yada yada. no, i too didn't like how percy pulled out of his non existing hat the kronos' name... like, just from that teeny tiny tale ares told them in episode 5? like come on, percy's parent is poseidon, not athena. BUT i liked episode 7, i had goosebumps, i cried (yes, real tears), laughed and walker did such a great job. and sally and poseidon? i mean... crusty was too fast, yes, and percy didn't kill him, yes, but did you really think they were going to behead crusty after not having shown medusa having her own head cut off? i don't know, for me the book and the show are two separate things. i enjoyed reading the books, i loved it, and there were things i didn't like. now i'm watching the show, i'm loving it and there are things i don't like.
the thing is, it's ok to love them both in different ways... i did.

Highly under-recognized [book] Dark!Percy moment is absolutely in Crusty's Waterbed Emporium and I think we need to talk about that more.
SHOW SPOILERS AHEAD
It took watching the show - where Crusty is notable left alive - for me to fully appreciate what an early glimpse of Dark!Percy that really is. There's moments in most of the books that also show that side of him, but it's kinda crazy how soon it really starts.
Not only that, but he's partially angry in that moment because Grover & Annabeth are hurt/endangered. It's an early dose of how his personal loyalties influence his actions too!
Anyway Dark!Percy is fully canon and I will die on this hill.

What do you mean Annabeth gave Grover a stress ball because he was picking at his horns? And I’m just supposed to be okay??

This episode was great but I'm still salty about the lack of zebra last time. Unforgivable.
