Tomatoes, a pumpkin, outdoor pink oyster mushrooms
The pink oyster bucket was an experiment in which I tossed some spent (already fruited) colonized straw into a bucket with more fresh material, neither sterilized nor pasteurized, shredded leaves and wood debris and stuff. I planted both local wild strawberry, and alpine in the top of it, and never saw a sprout. The other day I stuck a blackberry cutting in there, (and it doesn't look like the cuttings will survive) so no luck with plants in this bucket yet, but I've found dried up oyster clusters in some of my other garden beds (which I think is really cool)
I took prints from these pinks out of the bucket, and I plan on doing multispore grows from that, and maybe get some helpful epigenetic knowledge in the next generation.
Having described that at length...
More generally, stuff is good. I'm trying not to stress on the poorness of my gardening, I'm trying to learn to do a good job of it, instead. The tomatoes need some trimming and looking after, but they've done pretty well with neglect, it seems like.
I've been picking wild blackberries and freezing them, and making effort to propagate them, and I'm watching the maypop for ripeness, to pick those too.
The chickens are getting fat, and there are plans underway for a mealworm colony.
I let a barrel steam pasteurizer project sit for a year and I'm finally finishing it now.
I'm harvesting indoor habaneros both for culinary and pesticide uses.
I would have starved by now if I needed to feed myself just with what I've grown, so the scale on which I need to operate is becoming more apparent.
My thought has been to produce as much seed from plants grown outside, as I can, so that hopefully the next generations for next spring, will be better suited to the environment.
If you've got advice or questions or anything it's welcome.

Happy Mushroom Monday! 🍄
At a recent Deep Playa Campout event, I was fortunate enough to try a variety of mushrooms from PNW Mushrooms, and OH MY GOODNESS!!! Have you ever seen such pretty mushies!?
A huge thank you to William for gifting a bunch of us with these fantastical fungi. It was one of my highlights from that weekend, and such a nice treat. 😊
I highly recommend checking them out on their IG page HERE.
The pink oysters when fried taste like bacon. So good!
