Business Model Presentation and Thesis with/ Natly Torres Alvarado (online)
1. What your original goal was for this course.
My main goal in this course to finalize all details for my business plan. Although I am a sole-proprietorship and I do not need a lot of funds to start, I do feel it is necessary to have an organized and structured business plan just in case I want to present it to an investor for some financial assistance.
2. How the goal was met by the course.
My goal was met by this course was bringing everything I have learned this whole year during my program together into one finalized presentation to my professors who have helped me along the way.
3. What you learned from this course.
From this course, I was able to update, perfect, and finalize my business structure… from a year worth of work.
I was able to work on Modernistic Visions’
Elevator Pitch
Target Market
Business Launch Roadmap
Business Model Thesis
Marketing Strategy
Marketing Budget
Profit/Loss
Monthly Sales Goal to breakeven
Start-up cost
Discover competitors and why
Niche
etc
4. How you will apply the material learned in the course personally or professionally.
I will apply all the information I have learned this past year professionally towards Modernistic Visions. I will apply this material to growing my business – and always tracking it from the beginning. In my industry things are always expanding – so I need to always stay on top of things and be ready to change and implement these changes where it is best fitted. For instance, if there is a new service offered though Modernistic Visions is it important to go back to the:
Business Model Thesis
Marketing Strategy
Marketing Budget
Profit/Loss
Monthly Sales Goal to breakeven
Start-up cost
Discover competitors and why
Niche
This material for this class also helped set up for my business plan. If I want to go to a bank or look for an investor, I have a great start. Of course, I know I need to add more to the business plan such as ROI for someone who may invest in it. But again, this is a great start.
Another big take away from this course is my elevator pitch and which this perfect for meeting potential customers. If I had 30 seconds to pitch my business to an investor, a client, etc., I will be able to now.

Innovative Work Environments w/ Paul Kegel (online)
What your original goal was for this course.
My original goal for this course was to understand different work environments and the science behind it. I always wondered why some buildings looked more futuristic than others from the outside inside. I knew it had to be deeper than the fact it is a newer building.
How the goal was met by the course.
My goals were met by the reading material, the feedback from classmates, the projects, discussion boards, and projects.
What you learned from this course.
Throughout these four weeks, I was able to gain knowledge and understand new tactics and concepts such as:
collaboration and teamwork through workplace design and how it is purposely designed
shared space, coworking, incubators and accelerators
primary workspaces, activity spaces, and overall office design
traditional workplace environment vs creative and innovative workplaces
my personal preferences when working
disturbed work
How you will apply the material learned in the course personally or professionally.
I will apply the material I learned in this course in implementing the things I learned for Modernistic Visions. Modernistic Visions is a digital marketing based company and can be run from anywhere as long as I have Wi-Fi. Currently, I run Modernistic Visions outside of my home apartment in a small but doable space. As an entrepreneur, you want to feel comfortable and motivated to get your job done. Well, that is what my home office stands for currently. However, over time and I will want more.
Learning more and more about different workplace environments make me as my own boss - want to share my creativity and inspiration. As of right now, I am a sole-premiership. But as my business grows and as I get more clients - more for me to handle by myself.  I have gained a great amount of knowledge with shared space, coworking, incubators accelerators and even distributed work.  I personally think distributed work would be the route for me. I know many designers like to be in their own personal space - so I would allow access to all files from my future contractors to work. However, this is another thought - because I would love to be around other creative minds - especially those who may be working for me in the future, I would consider Incubators. I feel like it would be a good fit for Modernistic Visions.

Marketing Strategies for Entrepreneurs w/ Ginger Palmisano (Online)
What your original goal was for this course.
My original goal for this course was to relive my Internet Marketing Masters degree program from Full Sail. I wanted to retake the courses from that program once I am done with this degree to apply my Internet Marketing skills to my own business. I wanted to touch bases back on PR tactics, digital marketing, analytics, and more.
How the goal was met by the course.
My goals were met by the reading material, the feedback from classmates, the projects, discussion boards, and project really helped me relive my Internet Marketing degree. It was kind of easy to forget about of all the things I just learned last year because now I am focused on my business internally- before my website launch.
What you learned from this course.
Throughout these four weeks, I was able to brush up on marketing strategies and branding tactics such as:
basic branding principles
customer retention
clearly define  the terms “marketing” and “branding”
brand equality
Target market, CRM, and position
SOSTAC Planning
PR Strategies
Press release
How you will apply the material learned in the course personally or professionally.
I will apply the material I learned in this course in implementing the things I learned for Modernistic Visions as well as when I retake some courses at Full Sail.
Far as for Modernistic Visions, although we analyzed other companies for projects it is easier to see what you need to do as an entrepreneur to avoid such issues. For instance, in Week 3, we had a case study. I chose to focus on Online Shopping vs. In-store shopping. The companies I chose to write about were Nike and Sephora. The issue is their customers are more into online shopping and living in the tech-world shopping experience which is causing stores to close down. Well, thankfully, Modernistic Visions is a digital marketing company ran out of my apartment online, I do not have to worry about such issues. But I do need to pay attention to how serious people take online shopping. I can apply these principles to building my website and making sure I give my target audience the real-world experience hiring Modernistic Visions. As well as, using those principles when building a client’s website.

Entrepreneurial Finance with Bill Thompson
What your original goal was for this course.
I was honestly beyond nervous when this course started, well before. Dealing with huge numbers and etc. scares me. However, dealing with my personal finances is not as intimidating but dealing with a business seems to make me nervous. My first goal was to STEP UP. I wanted to break my business financial fear. My second goal was finally set some estimates for my first year of business – this includes start-up costs, fees, and service projections. My third goal was to understand different business financial terms.
How the goal was met by the course.
My goals were met by having good feedback from my professor, which ensured me I was on the right track. The reading material, the feedback from classmates, the project, discussion board, and project really helped me.
What you learned from this course.
Throughout these four weeks, I learned how to:
- Create a financial plan using the SmartStart business model
- Research start-up costs for Modernistic Visions
- Analyze financial statements
- Reach my potential customers in cost-effective ways
- Create crowdfunding video for potential investors
- Breakdown all start-up cost to run Modernistic Visions
- Estimate cost to acquire new customers
How you will apply the material learned in the course personally or professionally.
I will apply the material I learned in this course in implementing the things I learned. For example, I am interested in crowdfunding and the elevator pitch. It made me think deeper into my business to the point, I can possibly get someone else to see my goals and want to fund Modernistic Visions. Luckily Modernistic Visions is not a company that needs a lot of money to get started, but it would be a great help. It will also help me save my money to keep towards bills. Having an investor is great but I can get my business needs in due time with the right planning. But like I said those two projects made me think deeper into my business and how to explain it to others.

Legal Issues in Business (Online) w/  Natly Torres Alvarado
What your original goal was for this course.
I goal for this class was to find legal issues associated with my business. The find out the other possible risks as a business owner.
How the goal was met by the course.
I was able to gain a great amount of knowledge from this course. More than what I even imaged. From week 1, opening my eyes as a business owner. The worksheet we completed help me gain a better understanding of the legal side of the business.
What you learned from this course.
From this course, I learned:
- The different types of business entities
- An understanding of permits I need for local, state, and federal agencies
- Researched different attorneys
- Understand and researched different contracts
- Gained a true understanding on intellectual property
- Different legal actions
How you will apply the material learned in the course personally or professionally.
I will be able to apply this information professionally, by applying this to Modernistic Visions.
I decided on a sole- proprietorship and understand the risks and advantages. However, I do believe later, I will transition to an S-Corp or an LLC. I also came to an agreement what kind contracts I want to implement within my business – silent partner, partnership, and contractor.  The researching attorneys were also helpful and something I will definitely look into more once I can afford them. I really want my business to be successful as a sole proprietorship, so I want to make sure I take all the right steps into doing so. Another thing was finding a legal trend that was happening in my industry. As I was learning about Intellectual Property, I then come to find out that is one of the legal issues in my industry. So again, I want to make sure I have all my sources covered to ensure great satisfactory for my clients, protection and be a success.

Business Model Development Reflection (Online) w/ Donald Lipham
1. What your original goal was for this course.
My main goal in this course was to understand how to build my personal business model. There are so many business models – more than what I originally thought. The struggle was trying to find the right business model for Modernistic Visions.
2. How the goal was met by the course.
My goal was met in this course by having the opportunity to be exposed to many different business models. Business models such as long-tail, razor, and etc. Because there are so many business models, I learned that there is no one way to shape your business model. You can alter it to your business – in the way it will benefit your business.
3. What you learned from this course.
In addition to learning about business models, I was able to truly define a specific customer problem and solution – basically getting to the root of the problem and finding a successful solution. This was a little troubling for me earlier in this program because I did not have a clear understanding of my target audience. But after months of this program, I was able to define my target audience which made defining a specific customer problem and solution much easier.
Another takeaway from this course was the 140-character exercise. When I had to describe my business in 140 characters. That was a challenge but I ended up with great feedback from my classmates.
4. How you will apply the material learned in the course personally or professionally.I will be able to apply this material I’ve learned professionally towards Modernistic Visions. By find the problem and solution beforehand, I will be able to reach those customers. I will be able to connect with them instantly. I will also consistently tweak and work on the 140- character challenge, I think it will also help with future social media post and reaching my audience. Finally, I will apply different business models within Modernistic Visions throughout my journey. It will be used.

BUSINESS FEASIBILITY—ONLINE (with Donald Lipham)
What your original goal was for this course.
Understand Business Feasibility
Understand issues as they relate to feasibility and business concepts for my company
Understand how this course will take me to the next level
How the goal was met by the course.
I gained a full understanding of what I am lacking and what I need to improve on. Just because I believe my idea will work doesn’t mean it will. I understand that I need to consistently test my MVP to ensure I am going in the right direction. Of course, no one likes to fail, but this is all a-part of the process of a start-up. I did not know what to expect from this course. I honestly have no background in business – so everything is a step by step process. Conducting the survey was a huge deal for me and the feedback from my MVP.
What you learned from this course.
Feasibility vs A Good Idea
You can always improve your business
Test your MVP as often as you can
Business Feasibility concepts
Strengths and weakness
How you will apply the material learned in the course personally or professionally.
Personally, I will use the information and materially learned in this course to better shape Modernistic Visions. It takes more than what I thought to build a successful business. Anyone can start a business – but it takes these little steps to be successful. After doing my SWOT analysis, I realize that I have come a long way from the start of this program. There is still a lot to do but it is a working progress.
I will recreate my MVP and do another survey going forth as more and more ideas come to play.
I will redo my SWOT analysis along with my business feasibility checklist again in a month after progress. I feel as if I will revisit these different scales and checklist to see my personal accomplishments as an entrepreneur.
Thank You for a great course.

PRODUCT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT Online w/Paul Kegel
My original goal for this course was to:
- organize my services for my business
- understand how to packages my services
- understand where to start with the packages
- understand product-design process
- understand how to build Modernistic Visions – prototyping
- defining the problem and solution for Modernistic Visions target market
My goal was easily made by the videos, articles, discussions, feedback, and assignments. Each influence in continuously shaping and building Modernistic Visions better than what I can imagine. The fact that there are only three of us in the class – we are really able to give that one-on-one feedback and advice to help better our startups.
What I learned in this course was:
- I finally figured out my niche through feedbacks from discussion posts
- More ways to gain clients outside of word-of-mouth from discussion board feedback
- How to start my MVP
- Learning the problem that Modernistic Visions can solve for our target audience
- Product Vision Board
- How to establish a vision for different services for Modernistic Visions
Professionally going on, I will
- Apply MVP tactics on launching Modernistic Visions
- Trying to find problem/s and solutions for other services Modernistic Visions will offer
- Continue to use prototypes for Modernistic Visions such as landing pages
One of my classmates and I had the same idea of using landing pages to see what works best for our target audience. I plan to use my Internet Marketing degree from Full Sail to use Call to Action as well as content marketing. All of this is trial and error. It is important to speak and get connected with my target audience. What I think might work, might not. And if I keep pushing what don’t work, I will fail as an entrepreneur.
Thank You

Business Venture Research Reflection - Online - Natly Torres Alvarado
1.What your original goal was for this course.
My original goal for this course was to truly understand my business through in-depth research. I never really thought about how vital research was to my business. It goes deeper than just researching my competitors and maybe see an opportunity for my business to thrive through their missing link. It goes as deep as trends, the market, and the industry as a whole.
2.How the goal was met by the course.
My goal was met in this course by gaining knowledge through research methods.  I do understand as entrepreneurs we are starting up. So, the assignments that were assigned were more tailored to existing and long-standing industries. The research process is vital for any business. Another goal that was met in this course was organizing relevant information. This is something that I have been working on since my last degree program at Full Sail. I am trying to become a better organizer with research.
3.What you learned from this course. Mention at least 4 research resources you found useful.
Throughout this course, I found many useful resources. However, four of them stood out to me the most. These were The Full Sail Library: EBSCOhost, NASICS, https://www.entrepreneur.com/, and Google. These websites helped me gather vital information for all websites. Full Sail’s library EBSCOhosts, had more in-depth resources and information that was not available to find from Google. NASICS also provided me the same scholarly and intensive tools.
4.How you will apply the material learned in the course personally or professionally.
Professionally, I would apply this information to do an in-depth research of the current graphic design, web design, branding, and online marketing. I would research the current and past trends, the market and industry as a whole. This would help when launching my new business and any future services – I may offer.  The intensive research will help open my mind and creative mind thought process into establishing innovative ideas.
Personally, I would apply this information there a customer-buying process. As an online shopper, I like to do research on any product I may want to buy. Although this is it a different level or research, it is still research.

This course exceeded my expectations. I am on a greater scale of being a successful entrepreneur. I have developed a new mentality though concepts such as:

risks and challenges
the list honestly goes on
I am able to apply these many concepts into putting together my website and my online marketing tactics to ensure I reach my highest potential customers. I am honestly, starting from the ground up. I was challenged to the point when I had to come up with Modernistic Visions’ business mission. I understand that there are risks when it comes to starting your own business. But this course finalized that I am ready. Each week, I was intrigued but the articles and videos. Learning these different concepts in this course, actually made me change the way I am building my portfolio. I mentioned that I am just focusing on web and graphics. But how I market it online is different. I will put myself in my target audience’s shoes and understand what their needs and wants are.
I am able to apply my experience from my Internet Marketing degree, from Full Sail and apply it with this degree. In fact, they go hand to hand, which is why I chose this route.
I cannot wait for what the rest of this program has in store for the development of Modernistic Visions.
Thank You Paul Kegel

I would read as much as possible, take notes, and save page into appropriate folder within my Bookmarks on the Internet. I will be able to come back to this information and retain different parts of the information at different times.
How will I apply this information professionally:
From the information I expected to learn to the information I learned I will apply this professionally by trying different campaigns. As I mentioned what I will continue to do beyond this course, I will continue to retain more information to assist with different Internet Marketing Campaigns. My first couple Internet Marketing Campaigns I have on my agenda are:
AllPurposeParis (Website and Branding)
itsBadguy (Website and Branding),
DeNise Evans (Website and Branding )
Final Project
I will be able to apply what I have learned to my final project is by applying the different personas when coming up with different landing page optimizations. I will able to test the outcome by using the A/B test to see what works for DC Vapor.
