Well, shit.

I guess that explains why it hasn't been working properly for the last few months. Damn thing would randomly toggle between fast charging (<2 hours) and slow charging(>7 hours), or else just not charge at all unless I jiggled it very carefully and propped the wire against itself like a pair of shitty earbuds in an iPod Nano.

Looks like I'm going to the dollar store in the morning to pick up a new one...

Okay, so I was going through Pinterest, and see this really cool anime hand, and I see my phone charger lying in front of me too. So I was like, uh, why not?

Hey, so my phone almost caught fire!

I'm sitting in bed browsing tumblr while charging my phone, and I get a very brief pop-up about 3rd party chargers. I used to get these kind of pop-ups all the time when I had an iphone (the phone could tell when it wasn't an apple brand charger and sometimes wouldn't work), but this has never happened since I got an android. This pop-up was so brief I almost missed it, just a split second, I didn't even have time to read it, I just unconsciously noticed that it said something about 3rd party chargers and then disappeared. Then I start hearing a clicking noise. A clicking noise coming from my charger port, followed by the smell of burning plastic. It wasn't clicking, it was arcing electricity.

I unplugged my charger from my phone and burnt my fingers because the end was sparking. Part of the cable melted, and so did a chunk of the charger port itself. My phone still works, but the charger short circuited for some reason, and now I can't plug it back in, and it's almost dead, and none of my data is backed up, and the atnt store by my house doesn't have tech people who can look at it, so if I go in tomorrow they'll tell me the only thing I can do is buy a new one, and I'm pissed off!

And now I'm getting an endless stream of notifications that "moisture has been detected in your usb port." Is melted plastic technically moist? It's solidified at this point, so I don't know what it keeps detecting. The notification won't go away, it keeps flicking on and off, so I can't even turn off my screen. I'm gonna have to turn the whole phone off and hope that the battery isn't too fried to turn back on.

I am having a very bad night.
