Make Patton Burgess, Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk. It practically cannon anyway.

Jack & The Beanstalk - Alban Arena, St Albans - Dec ‘22

Whilst his local theatre, the Canterbury Marlowe, put on Sleeping Beauty, Kent born Eastenders’ legend, Shaun Williamson, starred in this winter’s pantomime of Jack & The Beanstalk in the more intimate Alban Arena. We were regulars at the New Wimbledon Theatre and the New Victoria Theatre, Woking but after moving to Hendon, the 17 minute train ride to St Albans seemed like the best bet for this fall’s festive fun. Despite being in a alternative setting to a traditional theatre, it did not disappoint; Rather than an orchestra pit, the live band were in the top stage left balcony, similar to Peter Pan at Maidstone studios a few years back, giving the opportunity for Shaun to break from character (which was a play on words of an Oasis ‘90s hit) to have an amusing back and forth with the conductor. More fun for the whole family, with similar scenes and themes to the bigger known creations currently running, continued with Swashbuckle’s Ian Kirkby, who made sure all ages could enjoy Dame Trott. The talented cast, which included Chanice Alexander-Burnett (Les Miserable), AJ Jenks (Saturday Night Fever), Damian Patton and Lauren Chia (Frozen), brought relevance, jokes and surprises of the highest quality and even cuteness.
What this show gains in affordability and value for money, it does not lack in production and enjoyment; making it clear why there is a full house at every show. See for yourself, with up to 3 shows running daily (but not Dec 31st) until Jan 2nd. Mandy in the Multiverse
Summary: Mandy the writer witch doesn’t know what to write for her prompt, so she goes searching back through her plethora of AUs for inspiration and accidentally stumbles into a few others as well.

Mandy sighed, laying on her back and tossing her pen in the air to catch again. It was dull, lacking the usual shine of inspiration. It seemed she was quickly burning through her magic supply this month. 
Her eyes traveled over to the portal, humming in the corner. Several portals, actually. An entire wall of infinite portals, each leading into a different dimension she had created. But what did it matter? All the portals in the world wouldn’t help the young witch find a good story idea. She needed a new portal.
Mandy paused, catching her pen one last time. Or…she could always do a sequel. And for that, a quick lil’ inspiration trip wouldn’t hurt anyone, right?
“I’ll just pop in for a second.” Mandy grinned, already grabbing her cloak and sprinting through one at random.
A bright light flashed, forcing her to cover her eyes. She blinked the spots from her vision, peering around to find… a pet shop?
“Oh, tiny mers.” Mandy hummed, walking through the aisle ways. “Not exactly original, but-”
“Can I help you, gurl?” Remy the sales clerk interrupted her musing.
“Oh, hey Remy.” Mandy gave a disinterested wave, not even looking over as she peered into the empty tanks. She sighed. “Man, this is so boring. There’s not even anything happening here. Well, except with the cats.”
“We don’t sell cats.” Remy informed her.
“I know.” Mandy adjusted her cloak. She didn’t feel like walking all the way over to Picani’s place of residence just to see the shredded remains of Logan clinging to life, that’d just be depressing. “Don’t worry about it.” Without another word she twirled on her feet, the scenery swapping once more. 
“Alright, where we headed?” Mandy rubbed her hands together, looking around to try and get the lay of the land. It was a wide open field, which didn’t give her many clues- that is, until she saw how dead the grass was and the hole left behind by what must’ve been a beanstalk.
“Aww, I missed it?” Mandy groaned. She looked around, seeing nobody at the bottom of the stalk either. “Well this sucks.  I can’t even tell if this is Virgil’s or Patton’s story. Why does the beanstalk have to come down, anyway? Just let it stay up and eventually consume all the water on Earth.” 
That was an idea, maybe. But today was not the day for mythical eco-terrorism. Instead with a sigh Mandy twirled again, crossing her fingers. “Please something fun, please something fun-”
Unfortunately, her hopes were dashed when she opened her eyes to see generic apartment number 3. “Darn it, just a borrower story.” 
There was a quiet clattering behind her. Mandy turned, seeing a very startled human Logan standing in the kitchen. “I- how- what did you say?”
“Oh dear.” Mandy winced. Logan was always the one with too many questions, no matter the universe. “Um, a borrower? Tiny person about yeigh high?” Mandy held out her hands for scale. “You might have one already in a cage. That, or they’re still in the walls. I don’t really know what stage you’re at.”
Logan’s eyes widened, turning a deadly pale. He glanced back at the living room door anxiously, leaning forwards and lowering his voice. “How much do you know about the little mouse men?”
“The mouse men?” Mandy wrinkled her nose in confusion. Since when did Logan call borrowers ‘mouse men’? That sounded more like Littles, and the only story she knew with Littles was…
Mandy gasped, smacking a hand to her cheek. “This is Kat’s story!” She excitedly whispered. The witch looked down at her own hands in awe, having not been aware she could even do that. “Oh my goodness I could see Littles. Wait should I? What if I break something? No, I shouldn’t, they’re all so depressed right now, and Kat’s Littles are always so skittish.”
“Cat? What’s this about a cat?” Logan was frantically trying to keep up with her logic, to no avail.
“Don’t worry about it.” Mandy said hastily. “Tell them I say hi. Wait don’t, forget you saw anything. Okay. I love you. Bye.”
With these parting words Mandy spun away, eager to get out before she ruined over a year’s worth of careful planning. But this opened a newfound realm of possibilities; what were her limits? How far could she go? She eagerly focused her energy away from her own stories, trying to see if she could breach the wall again.
“...oh great. Another Remy.” Mandy sighed, opening her eyes.
“Gurl you better check yourself before you shrek yourself.” Remy judged her, taking a long sip from his cup. 
Mandy glanced around, taking in the house in disarray. There was a strange amount of potato chip bags and binoculars. On a notebook was a list labelled ‘Vampires?’ where Logan’s name had been written, crossed out, rewritten, repeat.
“Is this Lefay’s Welcome to the Neighborhood fic?” Mandy guessed.
“Yup.” Remy nodded. Mandy wasn’t even surprised Remy had that knowledge; he was some sort of demon of the night anyways here. Or something.
“Good.” Mandy nodded as well. “So I can’t break anything.” 
“Bold of you to assume you’re worthy enough to derail this plot.” Remy raised an eyebrow. “Where you headed?”
“I dunno.” Mandy shrugged, leaning against the couch. She cringed, feeling something sticky beneath her. “I mean not that you lovable trash raccoons aren’t, er, great… but I was kinda aiming for Delimeful.”
“The tiny dragon one?” Remy asked.
Mandy nodded. “I wanna introduce Puff to my dragon Virgil. Who isn’t really a dragon, just raised by dragons, and-”
“We get it, ya’ basic. First door on your left.” Remy interrupted with a point. Mandy paused, before with a shrug opening the door that was Remy’s haphazardly thrown together portal. There was another flash of familiar light, but this time the walls appeared more hazy. Translucent, even.
“So, this is a mind palace.” Mandy let out a low whistle, because she could do that in fiction. “Weird. I don’t work in canon enough, huh?” 
But that wasn’t the focus right now. Instead her attention was drawn to a scuttling in front of her, a little purple dragon caught off guard by her arrival. Mandy grinned, taking the opportunity to lunge and catch him. “Gotcha!”
Puff did not appreciate this gesture, frantically clawing and biting at Mandy and nearly causing the young witch to drop him entirely. 
“Geez, stop struggling, Virgil!” Mandy huffed, readjusting her grip.
“...Virgil?” 
Mandy paused, looking up to see she had an audience. Roman, Patton, and Logan were giving her looks caught between confusion and horror. The dragon in question had frozen, terrified when she said his name.
For a moment Mandy thought she ruined everything, but no recognition dawned on their faces. “Oh right, you guys are pre-accepting anxiety.” Mandy gave a small sigh of relief, the others tensing further. “Don’t worry, it’s just a, uh, nickname. Totally irrelevant. Definitely not something worth pondering or asking Anxiety about. Okay, toodles!”
But as soon as Mandy attempted to spin on her heel with Puff in tow, a searing hot pain overtook her arms. She yelped, dropping the fledgling and spinning into the other realm alone, collapsing with a grimace.
“Okay, no taking things between realms.” Mandy grit her teeth. “Good to know.”
She looked up, her eyes peering through the darkness to see a sword glinting in the meager light, pointed threateningly at her face. Strangely, she hadn’t even heard the movement. That was suspiciously terrifying. 
“State your business.” The not-dragon Virgil threatened. 
Mandy looked down the length of the sword. She looked back up at Virgil. “I was just trying to bring you a present.” Mandy huffed, annoyed that her plan had failed. “It was a dragon version of you. A real one.”
Well, that was not the right thing to say. Mandy yelped, rolling out of the way as the sword came slashing down, clanking loudly against the rock wall.
“Lovely seeing you as always!” Mandy waved, turning on her heel to the sound of cursing behind her. 
The witch gave a sigh of relief, trying to focus her mind again after getting so jittered. It was difficult whenever her creations got away from her, especially when she was at the wrong end of the sword. The Lord only knew how many times her giants got out of hand, putting Mandy in all sorts of compromising situations.
“Think Mandy.” Mandy told herself, continuing to spin as she began to get dizzy, multiple universes passing by and only offering her glimpses: cages, a butterfly wall, the ocean…. And of course the accompanying cast, but that was a bit harder to decipher considering they all shared the same fate. “If you could go anywhere, do anything, focus on that. Where would you go? What would you do?” 
Her focus was shattered as in her dizzy state she took a single step back, breaking the spell and immediately tripping over something alive.
“Mrow!” The white cat hissed, scrambling fearfully up and away from Mandy and into Patton’s lap.
“Oh dear!” Patton gasped, bending down to check on her. “Are you alright?” She took in his light blue robes, recognizing a fellow magic user.
“Yes, I’m fine.” Mandy took his hand, standing up. She looked down at the bristling cat, glaring up at her haughtily. Mandy winced, slowly recognizing this to be her witch AU. “Sorry about your tail, Roman. Also sorry about your allergies, Patton.”
Patton gave her a bewildered look, not so subtly wiping at his nose. The cat hair was clearly getting to him again. “What? It’s just this spring air. Hardly your fault.”
“Right.” Mandy didn’t bother to explain that she was the one who gave him allergies in the first place. She sighed, wishing she could at least cuddle up Roman with his fluffy coat, but Roman looked to be in no mood to accept her apology. “Aristocat.” She muttered. “Are Logan and Virgil around?”
“No, I believe they went out to collect potion ingredients.” Patton explained.
“Ugh why didn’t I just do that?” Mandy smacked herself in the forehead. “I could have just written something about you four doing potion stuff for witchcraft. This is so needlessly complicated.”
“...sorry?” Patton didn’t know how to respond.
“Whatever, I’m getting out of here.” Mandy glanced at the pair one last time. “I suggest inventing magic benadryl. Or getting regular benadryl. I have no idea what time period this actually is because you refuse to go outside.”
With this mystic advice Mandy disappeared, forever on the hunt for that elusive inspiration.

Virgil and the beanstalk
Virgil didn't want to do any of this. He didn't want to end up in a world where everything was bigger than him.
All he wanted to do was take his cow to the market in exchange for food. Of course that man had other ideas. He said that a worthwhile exchange would be to trade the cow for ✨magic beans✨.
Virgil said no.
The man then proceeded to wrestle Virgil away from the cow and throw the beans in his face.
He went home to his father, Janus.
"F-father, I didn't manage to exchange the cow. A man stole it and threw these at me" he said, holding the beans out.
"What did this man look like?"
"Gay Betelgeuse"
Janus sighed. "You're gonna have to be a little bit more descriptive than that, Virgilius"
"First of all, my name is not Virgilius. It just says Virgil on my birth certificate. Anyway he had a moustache and a grey streak in his hair, and wore a black and green outfit"
"Let's plant these in the garden, hopefully they can grow us some food"
~le time skip~
Virgil checked on it in the morning. He was surprised to note that it had started growing already. It was still really small. He touched a leaf to see if it was real.
Next thing he knew, the beanstalk shot into the sky, growing rapidly.
Unfortunately, one of the now gargantuan leaves had scooped him up. He was rocketing towards the sky, now miles above his cottage.
He knew that his father wouldn't know where he went, he never woke up as early as Virgil. All he would see is the beanstalk.
Virgil started having a panic attack somewhere between 500 ft and 2000 ft in the air.
He started muttering between shaky breaths "Jesus Christ I'm gonna die. I'm gonna fall and all my bones will shatter into a million pieces. Or-or I'll starve to death on the top of this gigantic plant that I can't get down from. Oh no. Oh no"
His mind was running a mile a minute, and not stopping. He couldn't notice anything around him, everything was a blur.
When the beanstalk stopped he could barely register it until he fell off of the leaf. He didn't scream, still not able to breathe right, luckily he didn't need to as there was solid ground underneath him.
Wait- ground?!  That can't be right.. he was just up at least 3000 ft in the air.
He started to come out of his episode, drained of energy. It was then he realised something was off, he was in grass, but the grass was just taller than him and the occasional flower, twice his height.
If he wasn't as drained as he was, his breathing would have rapidly increased, but pair being exhausted with being genuinely afraid for your life you get fainting. He could only vaguely register the earth shaking footsteps coming his way before he was out like a light.

Waking up in a jar was not on Virgils to do list surprisingly (however being stabbed to death in an alleyway outside a bar, by a random man and the man never being caught so he can be on buzzfeed unsolved was).
The room around him was distorted but he could make out what seemed to be a couch, but it was larger than his whole village, plus three of the neighbouring ones put together. He saw a table from the corner of his eye.
He saw when he looked around that he was on what looked to be a giant bookshelf. This was backed up by the fact that he could see a book at either side of him.
Earth-shaking footsteps came closer when a giant face came into view. The first thing he noticed was the giant glasses that rested on the beings nose.
The next being the excited, bubbly expression on their face. It worried him what they could be excited about. He pressed himself into the back of the jar, as far as he could.
The giant seemed to be speaking but through the jar that muffled everything and his own hyperventilating he couldn't make out a word that they were saying.

Patton did not expect to find a human in his garden. Plants like the human seemed to come from grew all the time, but no human ever really came with it. He knew that these plants came from the human world, but he never expected one of the small creatures to come up it. Especially one that seemed to be asleep when he found it.
He had just gone out to water his lavender and bluebells, when he saw the small figure fall off of the plant, weakly look around then fall asleep. He put it in a jar on the bookshelf. He didn't want it to hurt itself when it woke up.
It was so cute and he was so excited to have his first pet! He started a group call with his brothers, Roman and Logan, to inform them of his new possession.
"Yes, LoLo I checked for injuries before I put it in the jar."
"Would I be able to come over to see it, please?"
Patton thought for a moment "let's give it a week or so to adjust before introducing it to more of us, Roman"
He soon ended the call and returned to the living room. He noticed that it was awake and started trying to talk to it. He realised that the human looked terrified and probably couldn't hear what he was saying through the jar.
"Oh right. I forgot that humans got scared so easily. It's so small!!" He started staring at the small thing, silently debating whether to let it out.

Patton and the Beanstalk: 1
I was walking to the marketplace to sell the 3 milk jugs in my arms. My family was small, being only me and my mom, although she is normally in the hospital due to her poor health. 
    While walking to the marketplace I ran into a traveling merchant.
    “Sorry!” I said in surprise of running into someone, falling onto my butt. “I was lost in thought.” I said while standing up.
    “It’s ok. I should have watched where I was walking.” The merchant said holding out a hand to help me stand up. “Say, would you like some green beans?” 
    I looked at him, taking his hand. Looking at his appearance. He had a black and yellow hat with a birthmark on his left eye. That eye also had a hint of yellow in it too.
    “Sure! But I may not have enough money to buy them…” I said, looking at the ground and picking at the end of the cat hoodie around my shoulders.
    “That’s fine. I’ll give you one bean for two jars of milk.” The man said pulling out a bag that said ‘green beans’. “Just put them in the ground away from the sun and they will grow.
    I nodded and handed him two jars of the milk in my arms over to the man. Then he opened the bag and gave me one bean out of three. I looked up to him weirdly then realized that he had said only one bean.
    “Umm, thanks.” I said looking down to the green bean. Then I realized it wasn’t a green bean either. But the moment I looked up he was gone. Shrugging, I turned to walk back home. The sun was setting, sending beautiful orange and pink colors through the sky, and I didn’t want to spend money at the inn again.
    Today was a day where my mother wasn’t here  and she was at the hospital. So, when I got home I put the bean on the counter and went to bed.

So for your Modern Vampire Virgil AU, what are some of Virgil's powers? Can he use hypnosis or fly? Anything interesting? :D
So for Virgil, since he was turned and not born vampire, his list of supernatural powers is a little shorter? Some neutral affects are that his eyes flash an eerie near-neon purple when feeling an emotion super strongly, all vampires in this world end up having this trait, its just that turned ones end up being more noticable what with them gaining unnatural(at least, unnatural in human standards) eye colors like red, purple, yellow, rather than being born with more earth tones like blue, green, brown, grey.(Pattons are a near-black brown that flash a bit darker, and Logans are a deep grey that just barely flash white. Virgils natural eyes are a deep brown that flash bright purple.). Another trait thats shared by most vampires is their range of inhuman vocals like sub-sonic growling(dont @ me okay shush) or screeching, basically having a wider mimicability than humans have, ect. Virgil has this.
Virgil does however have the more unique ability to float/fly. He cant do it super high as his powers are pretty linked to the earth, so the farther he gets from earths surface the less effective his powers work.(he can still fly pretty high tho, don’t get me wrong!) and he can carry things and people as well. Nothing usually bigger than people, though.
Virgil probably has a range of smaller skills built around a vampires heightened senses, like reaction times, throwing knives and dodging bullets, hunting, stealthing, the usual hyper speed deal? The catch though is that Virgil is slower than the average vampire(bc hes, you guessed it, a turned boi), if only just by half the speed. Its not noticable to humans, but its def noticable by vampires.
(Now imagine this scene if you will, of a young just-turned maybe 15 y/o looking virgil, gangly and small back in the day, piggybacking on Logan and/or Patton’s backs when they’d travel long distances together, because Virgil would never really be able keep up on his own. Now imagine, though its not really needed in the modern age, the full grown filled out himbo still having to piggyback w/ his coven for long distances because hes still just a lil too slow to keep up.
Patton adores it, and Logan doesnt mind it, but Virgil is often embarassed abt it even though no humans will ever see him, because its quite the sight to see a short pudgy man or averagely heighted beanstalk walk around with what is essentially a gentle giant piggybacking as if he is the worlds lightest, most embrassed backpack ever.)
Virgil weights goddamn nothing to Patton or Logan, which is just another effect of being turned. He probably weighs something like 130-140 to a human despite his bulky size? But to born vampires? A few pounds, max. Yeh.
Oh! Virgil can ignore the whole “have to be invited in” rule bc he was once human(which leads to shenanigans bc he can just invite Patton and Logan inside places by himself lololol) and he also can’t turn humans into vampires bc he himself is turned, and only born vampires can turn humans if they choose to. Pretty much bc hes turned and not vampire born, hes like, half vampire compared to born vampire in terms of abilities.(but honestly, its super taboo in vampire society to think that turned vampires aren’t full vampires, and those who think that way, usually born vampires who think they’re superior, get shunned, big time)

Like a House of Cards Ch. 5: Robots and Frogs
Summary: Logan is done playing around.
Chapters: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13
Outside of the dome, Logan had gone from agitated to outright furious as he tried to attack the dome but Google and Bing had teamed up with the Dark Sides to fight against him and so his attention was split. Google’s other three extensions had also shown up to help.
The other three Suits were starting to back up away from Logan as his glitching and fury was becoming more apparent.
Then, after five minutes of having to fend his combatants of, Logan had enough. He screamed, “Fine! You all wish to be difficult about it, then fine!”
The box that Ethan and Chase had taken from the base and put in the backseat of the Sides’ car, started violently shaking and put a dent in the door before smashing through the window and flying towards Logan. It hit him square in the back and he was engulfed by a cloud of nanites.
There was a cheery DING and Patton’s voice announced, “Nanite production at 5000%.”
In a fraction of a second the nanites began multiplying in number and they were forming thick ropes of wires and metallic plates. Logan’s nanite body exploded and there stood a dark blue figure made of light and code as they started to arrange themselves inside of a suit of metal as the other heroes were trying to stop what was happening.
“Ohhh, ****[1] yeah,” Bing realized and turned to Google. “Googs! Get the extensions! We’re making a Megazord!”
At first Google was confused, but after a bit and a little bit of arguing, and Logan was quickly building himself a giant metal exoskeleton, Google relented.
Bing and the Googles made a segmented colossal robot with their nanites, Google helping to multiply the nanites as quickly as possible as Bing’s nanites gave them direction and form. Oliver got a leg. Green got another leg. Red got the two arms. Bing’s orange nanites mostly condensed in the center where they could be redistributed as needed. And Google stayed up in the head area where his cameras could see everything better.
Logan’s colossal robot was a dark blue, the metal hard lines clearly more designed for attack than defense. There were two massive tubes on the backs of his shoulders, one with a viscous red gas, and the other a deep frothing purple.
Right before the center hatch closed, Bing and Google were able to catch sight of Logan as he normally looked, giving a smug smile and Patton was sitting right next to him. Patton gave a huge smile and waved his fingers at them.
With a pressurized hiss the gas in both the tubes began turning a cloudy white as Logan’s robot braced for an attack, swatting away at Silver who tried to fly in and pry the center hatch back open.
Google was already arming everyone for an attack as the tubes propped open and two figures jumped out of the tubes and landed on the ground.
The figures looked like Roman and Virgil, not wearing their masks and almost completely made of light.
Roman’s hologram drew out a sword and pixie-like wings materialized on his back. Like a fly against an elephant, Roman advanced too quickly for the Googles to catch, and he flew against them and began severing wires around Oliver’s leg addition.
Silver, seeing what was going on, tried to fly towards Roman and get him away but was almost hit in the face by magical projectiles thrown by the holographic Virgil. Several of which hit the dome as Logan advanced on it. He slammed the large robotic hand into the dome and it rocked the protective shield and those inside of it. The entire ship inside shook as if it had made contact with a rock or an iceberg.
A long crack appeared down the length of it, which Clubs had been waiting for and slipped in, before the Host could suture the crack back up with magic.
The Suit slipped from concrete and rubble streets into the well air conditioned interior of a cruise liner’s hallway.
At that point any hero that wasn’t necessary to hold back Diamonds or Hearts, converged on the Logan robot.
Janus made short work of the Roman hologram, the creation of light exploding into red dust and dissipating as Remus went for the Virgil hologram. Marvin and the Google working to keep Logan pinned as Silver gathered up as much speed as he could and used his strength to push through the chest plate of the robot to try and pull Logan out.
And then he missed.
The superhero sliced through the metal and before he could hit the blue solid state drive that carried Logan, it moved to a more defensible area but Silver nicked something: the protective casing enveloping the golden lock tore like wet tissue paper and snapped in half.
Instantly Logan realized what had happened and started pulling all the nanites together to fix the locket as light blue dust and mist emerged from it.
His more “human” form came back into being and he tried to cup the locket with his hands, forcing his aura towards it in a desperate attempt to keep the being housed inside contained and tried to force it to go back to sleep. “No! No! Sleep! It’s not safe here. Go back to sleep.”
Google shot out of the conjoined robot, the thing almost crumbling apart as the android hit Logan and ripped him away from the breaking locket, the android sending pulsing waves to kill the nanites and try and get to whatever core or drive Logan had to power Logan down so he could get him away safely.
“Cease, let me power you down so I can take you away from the humans,” Google tried to reason with him, but Logan kept kicking and struggling as Nate rushed over and started firing magic as the nanites to try and kill them.
Janus saw the commotion and walked over to the little mass of nanites that this Logan had put above his own safety, and the deceitful Side was looking for a bargaining chip. He wanted answers and a little bit of revenge.
So with a firm tap on the ground with his staff, the nanites fell off the broken locket and Janus moved to pick it up.
But as his hand got halfway down, a fierce light blue glow came from the locket and a figure was kneeling on the ground in front of Janus.
It was Patton. He let out a distressed whimper and the look Logan gave him was one of heartbreak.
Patton’s eyes opened and he looked at the scene directly in front of him. “Lolo?” Patton asked before his eyes tracked up to look at Nate.
The more emotional Side flinched and Nate and Janus could see the aura ripping off of him.
“No!” Patton screamed in fury, his freckles growing in size and darkening as his eyes glowed yellow but still had a blue color to them.
Slamming his fists on the ground, Patton’s light blue color flashed twice all throughout his body and what had once been a human was now a hulking green frog monster, Patton’s glasses perched on top his snout and the grey cat hoodie he liked to wear at home tied around his neck.
He slammed his fist on the ground and huge cracks formed fanned out and he jumped on Google, tearing him away to grab Logan. A huge beanstalk started to shoot out of the ground as Patton kept up into the air and started jumping up leaf after leaf. The damage from the growing beanstalk and the fights finally snapping the dome in half and instead of shattering and materializing out of existence, the magic shrunk into a smaller space the size of a house, curved around two individuals.
Illinois screamed as he faced over to the dome and started beating on it, as Wilford picked himself up from the ground, bleeding from the temple where a bullet had tried to pierce his skull but his magic had deflected it.

Fairytale AU

In the kingdom of Sandersia, a husband and wife were blessed with the greatest gift they could ask for: they were going to have a baby.
The wife, Eliza, developed pregnancy cravings, specifically for a magical flower that their neighbour grew. Her husband, Harold, had no choice but to break into their neighbors yard to get it.
The first time, he got away with it. The second, he was not so lucky.
He got caught by their neighbour, a powerful sorcerer known only as Deceit.
Deceit struck a deal: he would let Harold take the flowers if they gave him their child.
Months later, Harold and Eliza’s child was born: a son they called Logan. However, they didn’t have him long, giving him to Deceit.
As the years went by, the two parents fell into a depression over their lost child. Not even being blessed with a second son helped them.
Roman didn’t know his father, who died not long after he was born.
The boy was bright, adventurous, and didn’t understand why his mother was so harsh on him.
His mother never told him he had a lost brother, thinking it better he just live in ignorance.
During the situation between Deceit and Eliza and Harold, another child was born in another family.
Virgil was born into a well off family with parents who loved him.
However, unfortunately, his mother died when he was young, and his father remarried to a new woman, who was a horrible woman.
His father then died. Virgil was forced by his stepmother and step brothers to be their servent.
It all starts to change when he’s 18, and an announcement goes out, saying that King Thomas is hosting a three day long festival so his son, Remus, could find a suitor. All men in the kingdom are invited.
Virgil sees it as his chance to escape, and starts fixing up his dad’s old suit.
Though it isn’t a day of fortune for everyone.
Roman is told by his mother that they have no choice but to sell their cow to get more money.
Roman is devastated. Their cow had always been his trusty steed whenever he’d had imaginary adventures.
He grumpily leaves with the cow to head to the next town and sell it.
However, he very soon bumps into his best friend Patton, who’s wearing the same red cape with a hood he always does.
Patton explains his grandma’s sick, so for the next few days he’ll be taking her food.
Since her cottage is in the forest, he walks with Roman for a while. Soon, however, they have to split up.
Patton’s journey is rather uneventful. Though he does get the feeling he’s being watched…
Roman, on the other hand, starts having fun living one last fantasy adventure with his cow.
He ends up getting lost, and wanders around until he finds a clearing.
In the clearing is a tall tower with only a single window. As he watches, a thick black rope suddenly falls from the window.
Only it’s not a rope, it’s hair.
A man, Deceit, climbs down the hair, and calls goodbye to whoever is in the tower.
Deceit sees Roman, freezing and having an internal freak out. He goes up to the boy, commanding he leave and not say a word of what he saw.
Roman sees his chance to get out of walking all the way to the next town and says he will if Deceit buys his cow.
Deceit sighs, digging in his pockets, and hands Roman five beans, claiming them to be magic.
Roman is spellbound, accepting the deal and running home.
Eliza doesn’t believe him, thinking he got scammed, and chucks them out the window and grounds Roman.
Later that evening, Virgil finishes getting his dads suit fixed and gets it on just in time for the ball.
However, his stepbrothers, jealous, tear the destroy the suit, and head to the ball without him.
Just as Virgil starts wallowing in his own tears, someone appears, comforting him: his fairy godfather.
Emile introduces himself, and reassures Virgil hope is not all lost.
The next thing Virgil knows, he has a carriage made from a pumpkin, a beautiful purple dress, and black glass slippers. And Emile puts a glamour on him so his brothers and mother won’t recognise him.
Emile warns him it will wear off at midnight, so he must leave by then. Every night of the festival, Emile will come back to gift him again.
Virgil nods, before climbing in the carriage, and he’s taken away to the ball.
There, he meets Prince Remus. The two dance all night, until the clock strikes twelve, and he flees…
Remus chases him, but Virgil’s too fast, and Virgil gets away.
The next morning, Patton is once again heading to his grandmother’s house to bring her food. However, Roman suddenly runs up to him before he leaves the village.
���PATTON YESTERDAY I SOLD MY COW TO A WIZARD DUDE WHO GAVE ME MAGIC BEANS BUT MY MOM THOUGHT IT WAS A SCAM AND THREW THEM AWAY AND THEY GREW INTO A MASSIVE BEANSTALK AND I CLIMBED IT THIS MORNING AND MET GIANTS AND STOLE A GOOSE THAT LAYS GOLDEN EGGS! NOW ME AND MOM ARE GONNA BE RICH! YOU AND I ARE HEADING BACK TO THE TOWER I SAW THE WIZARD DUDE BY AND GONNA SEE WHAT OTHER AWESOME THINGS HE HAS!!!!”
Patton is equally excited, and agrees to meet him at the tower after delivering his grandmother her food.
However, Patton’s journey doesn’t go to plan when he runs into a wolf.
The wolf convinces Patton to stop and gather some flowers for his granny, before it goes on to Patton’s grandmother’s house.
The wolf proceeds to eat Patton’s granny whole. It dresses in Granny’s clothes, disguising itself for when Patton arrives.
When Patton arrives, the wolf plays the role of grandmother long enough until Patton gets too close, before swallowing him whole too.
Later, at night, Virgil is fleeing from the festival yet again.
He runs through the forest, his carriage having turned back into a pumpkin, and so leaving him to go on foot.
Eventually, he finds a cottage in the forest, and goes inside to hide.
However, once inside, he hears muffled cries for help from the bedroom. He tentatively opens the door to see the sleeping wolf with a bloated stomach, screams crying for help coming from inside it.
Virgil’s fight or flight reflex kicks in. He gets a knife from the kitchen and pierces the wolf’s stomach. He slits it’s stomach open, killing it and allowing the old woman and young boy inside to clamber out.
Patton and Granny thank Virgil graciously, and wish they could do something to repay him.
Virgil can say they can - he doesn’t know the way back to the villiage from here.
Patton offers to take him since he needs to head that way anyway, but adds that he needs to meet a friend somewhere first.
And so, Patton heads off with Virgil to the tower.
Roman had been waiting there most of the day. He’d watched as Deciet arrived and called up “Logan, let down your hair!”, which causes the thick black hair from before to fall.
Roman hopes Patton arrives in time so they can catch Deceit before he leaves, but he does not. Deceit climbs down and leaves.
Soon after, Patton and Virgil finally arrive.
“Patton, where were you?! … And who’s this?”
“Sorry, I got eaten by a wolf! This is Virgil, he saved me!!”
“Hi…”
“… Okay… Anyway, the dude came and went, you missed him. But, I think I know something else we can do…”
Roman runs up to the tower and calls, lowering his voice to sound old, “Logan! Let down your hair!”
The thick hair falls, and Roman grabs on and starts to climb, whispering to Patton and Virgil to follow.
Patton doesn’t hesitate, but Virgil comes a bit more nervously. As he grabs on, there’s a groan from above.
“F-Father, have you brought me something? You’re, uh, a lot heavier than usual…”
“… Yes. It’s a surprise!” Roman calls back.
They all continue to climb until they reach the window, and all clamber in.
As they did so, there’s a scream.
They look up to find a person Virgil’s age, with very very very long black hair and sapphire eyes, wearing a blue dress, and brandishing a frying pan at them.
“Who are you people?! What are you doing here?!”
Roman stands, grinning. “Hi! Your, uh, dad, I guess, gave me some magic beans a few days ago. I wanted to talk to him to see what other magic things he has.”
“So you are here for me! You want my hair, don’t you?!”
“Why would we want your hair…?”
Before the guy can respond, Virgil cuts over. “Look, we don’t want to cause any trouble. We’re sorry for breaking and entering, we’ll leave and get out of your hair.”
“Pun!”
“Not the time. Now, you two kiddos, lets. Go.”
“No!” The guy cries. “You’re not leaving. You’re not supposed to know I’m here, Father says no one can… I’m not letting you go until I can trust you not to tell anyone I’m here.”
Virgil mutters in annoyance, while Roman strikes up a deal: they won’t tell a soul IF this guy tells them what’s the deal with his hair and why he lives alone in a tower.
So, the guy reluctantly explains. His name’s Logan, and he lives in the tower because his hair has a magical healing property, and his Father says people would try to steal him away to take advantage of it if he weren’t hidden.
Apparently, the property was the side affect of a magical flower his birth mother, who Deciet said died in childbirth, had a craving for when she was pregnant.
Roman can hardly believe it. He’s never left the tower EVER?! That will not stand! So, invites Logan to join him and Patton up the beanstalk a second time on adventure!
This then leads to Roman having to explain to Logan and Virgil what the beanstalk is and where it came from.
Logan refuses. He can’t leave the tower, and definitely not for something so life threatening! If this giant collected golden geese, and harps that played themselves, it would definitely want to keep Logan for his hair.
Then Patton speaks up. “Hey, Virgil, you said you were at the King’s festival tonight, right? You should take Logan with you tomorrow!”
“I really shouldn’t leave, Father will be mad at me-“
“But it’ll be fun! I heard there’s dancing, singing, and you get to wear a pretty outfit! Right, Virgil?”
And so, Virgil finds himself promising to return the next day to pick Logan up to take him to the festival with him.
The next evening, Virgil rides in his carriage, only Emile with him this time, and not to the castle, but to Logan’s tower.
Logan hesitates before he slides down his hair, leaving his tower for the first time ever. It’s safe to say, he’s giddy with excitement and nerves.
Emile does his magic, giving Logan a beautiful blue dress, and tying his hair in a plait with blue flowers in it.
He warns them both that is will wear off at midnight before sending them on their way.
At the castle, Prince Remus had been excitedly anticipating the arrival of the mysterious man he had danced with the previous nights. Maybe tonight, he’d actually get them to talk… At least get them to tell him their name…
However, when Virgil arrives, he is not whose Remus’ focus is on. Remus is transfixed on the beautiful stranger with Virgil.
And Logan is looking right back at him.
“Virgil… who is that?”
“That? That’s Prince Remus. He and I have been dancing together these past few nights. So, uh… I’m gonna go dance with him. You can mill around I guess and ask some guys to da-“
He’s interrupted by Remus, who has come over. Remus takes Logan’s hand and kisses it. “Prince Remus, at your service. You are…?”
“Logan.”
“Logan, such a beautiful name. Would you care to dance?”
“I…I’d love to!”
And so, Virgil has to watch the man he thought was his sweep Logan off his feet.
Remus, however, is happy to have found someone who will actually be open with him, unlike Virgil who barely said a word. Remus listens as Logan explains his past - growing up alone in a tower, protected by his father. He listens as Logan rambles about his passions: reading, astronomy, whatever.
However, eventually the strike of midnight comes.
Logan, not wanting to just run off and leave Remus with questions (unlike Virgil), explains a false story that he needs to leave to get home before his father comes to check on him, so Deceit doesn’t know he went out.
Remus promises he will find Logan’s tower and come to see him again.
Then, Logan and Virgil flee the castle. However, as they run, one of Virgil’s glass slippers falls of on the stairs.
Remus smiles when he sees it: Virgil knows where Logan’s tower is. If he uses the slipper to find Virgil, Virgil can lead him to the tower.
The next morning, Roman and Patton meet up, deciding to go steal the magical harp from the giants. They climb up the beanstalk together.
Meanwhile, Remus and his guards start the search for Virgil, every young man in the villiage trying the slipper on for size.
When Virgil hears, he’s ecstatic. Remus is looking for him? Does that mean… he’s chosen him over Logan?
After his stepbrothers fail to get the slipper on, it’s Virgil’s turn, and Remus’ eyes light up upon seeing the slipper fits.
Virgil expects to be pulled into a kiss or hug or something, but instead Remus proclaims. “You will take me to tower in the forest to find Logan!”
Virgil shakes his head. No… this isn’t fair. This was supposed to be his fairytale! He was supposed to have the prince and get a new life away from his horrible step-family! Heck, he danced with Remus for two nights, not only one like Logan! So Remus knows him better-
No, Remus says. Remus knows Logan better, because Virgil told him nothing about himself over those two nights. However, Logan didn’t hide anything! (Well, except the fact his hair’s magic)
Remus knew nothing about Virgil to be attracted to bar his appearance. But Remus loved Logan’s passion, intelligence, kindess, and more as well as his looks.
So once again, Remus orders Virgil to take him to the tower.
Virgil agrees, but makes it clear he’s not happy about it.
However, as they saddle up and get ready to go, a sudden crash, causing what feels like an earthquake, suddenly shakes the ground.
Remus figures he should probably find out what that was and fix it before he chases love.
He follows the direction the crash came from, and arrives Eliza and Roman’s house. There lies the chopped down remains of a giant beanstalk, along with the body of a giant left dead on the ground.
Roman and Patton run over to Virgil upon seeing him, excitedly telling him the story of how they barely escaped with their lives, and successfully killed the giant by chopping down the beanstalk.
Meanwhile, Eliza, feeling way in over her head, is very relieved to see Remus. She bows to him and kindly asks for assistance, wanting the stalk and giant body cleared from her garden, but unable to do it herself.
Remus sends the guards with him to go help her, explaining he would help himself, except he was heading off on a quest to find the man he loves, who’s trapped in a tower.
“A man in a tower?” Patton speaks up. “You mean Logan? You love Logan?! Aww, that’s so sweet!”
“Logan.” The name gets Eliza’s attention.
Remus is surprised, and asks Patton how he knows who Logan is. Roman explains the two were with Virgil when he first met Logan.
Remus decides Patton and Roman will come along, sceptical whether Virgil will lead him the right way, since he still seems salty over Remus choosing Logan.
Eliza insists on coming too, needing to find out if Logan is who she thinks he is.
They ride off into the forest, and eventually arrive at the tower. Roman tells Remus to call up “let down your hair!”
Remus does so, and Logan appears, looking out the window, smiling brightly upon seeing the prince. He lets down his hair, and Remus goes climbing up.
Roman, however, notices his mother starting to cry, and asks her what’s wrong.
However, she doesn’t get a chance to answer, as suddenly there’s a yell. “What are you all doing here?!”
Deceit is stood on the edge of the clearing, glaring at the group. His eyes narrow at Roman. “I told you to never come back and not tell anyone of this place!” Then he sees Eliza. “Oh… I see. He’s your boy is he, Eliza? Let me guess, you sent him to find Logan so you could get him back, hm?”
Eliza shakes her head. “No, Roman had no part in this… It was a coincidence that he found Logan. But it’s safe to say, now I’ve found him, I want him back.”
Deciet lets out a dry laugh. “Oh so now you want him? Only took you, what, 18 years?”
“Excuse me?”
“You gave him up so you could eat a flower, Eliza. You obviously didn’t care about him enough if you could give him up for pregnancy cravings.”
“I wouldn’t have had to give him up if you hadn’t set the ridiculous trade!”
“A trade you accepted. And one I almost went back on. I almost gave Logan back.”
“Then why didn’t you? Do you have no humanity?!”
“I do. In fact, I didn’t give him back because I have too much humanity.” Deceit turns to the tower, and calls up. “Logan!”
Logan runs to the window, eyes widening upon seeing Deceit. “Father! I can explain! Please don’t be mad…”
“I’m not mad, Logan. Can you come down please?”
“… Down? As in out of the tower? You’re letting me?”
“Yes. I am.”
Logan lets Remus down first. Deceit raises an eyebrow as the prince slips down.
“Why is the prince of the kingdom in my son’s tower?”
“Uhhhh…”
“You can explain later. I guess you’re helpful for my demonstration anyway.”
Before Remus can react, Deceit grabs his arm, pulls out a knife, and cuts Remus’ hand. When Logan slips down, Deceit tells him to heal Remus’ hand.
Logan goes up to Remus and wraps his hair around the prince’s hand. He asks “please don’t freak out”, before starting to sing a special song. “Flower gleam and glow…”
As he sings, his hair starts to glow blue. When he finishes the song, his hair stops glowing, and he pulls it away from Remus’ hand, revealing it to be healed.
Deceit continues to Eliza. “Those flowers had the same healing properties. And they were a gift to me from my husband, Romulus, before he passed. When I found some taken away, the bush ruined, I was heartbroken. I had promised to keep the flowers safe, and tend to them to keep my husband’s memory alive. And when your husband came back to steal even more, I lost my cool. You took something important to me, and I only saw it right I take something important to you as revenge. When I finally had Logan, I realised that I was perhaps going too far. But… then I sang that song. The one Romulus taught me. And I saw Logan’s hair glowing. He’d gained the healing property of the flowers. He was now the last thing I had left of the man I loved. My motive changed. No longer did I keep him for vengeance. I had to protect him, like I promised Romulus I would. I… guess I may have gone a bit overboard, but… I began to truly view Logan as my own. I loved him as my own son. Like the one Romulus and I never got to have. I couldn’t lose him too.”
Eliza blinks. “I… I had no idea. I didn’t realise those flowers were so important to you…”
“Wait, I’m confused. What’s going on?” Logan asks.
“So am I,” Roman adds. Patton, Virgil and Remus all nod in agreement.
Deceit sighs, turning to Logan. “I’m… not your real father, Logan. I’ve raised you since you were young, but… I took you from Eliza here.”
Roman’s eyes widen. “LOGAN’S MY BROTHER?!”
Eliza sighs. “You didn’t take him. You’re right. I gave him up. Which is why you’re wrong about not being his father. You basically adopted him. You did all the parenting. Meanwhile… I failed with my second son. I let Roman wander off into the woods on his own, and climb up beanstalks and face giants. I’m under-protective and irresponsible.”
“But I’m overprotective,” Deceit replies. “I kept Logan in a tower for 18 years. Sure, it seems like he got out recently…” He sends a look to Remus. “But I shouldn’t have done that. It was wrong.”
“Well… then I guess we need to learn from each other. We balance out.” Eliza pauses, thinking. “Look. We’ve both lost our husbands. How about we work together to raise our kids from here on out?” 
Deceit raises an eyebrow. “You know I’m gay, right? Not bi or pan.”
Eliza rolls her eyes. “Not get together. Just, work together to raise the kids.”
Deceit smiles. “That… that would be nice.”
Eliza smiles back. “In that case, lets head home. I guess I need to make up a couple new rooms. Good thing we can afford to expand the house a bit now.” She ruffles Roman’s hair.
Deceit turns to Logan. “On the way, can you explain to me how you came to know the prince?”
“Oh! That’s all thanks to Virgil!” Logan turns to see Virgil walking away from the group. “Virgil? Are you okay?”
“Yeah. You go enjoy your happy endings or whatever. If I don’t get back home soon, I’ll probably be locked in my room for a week with no food, sooo… I’m heading off.”
“You’ll be what…?”
“It’s fine, I deserve it. I wanted the prince because I’m a selfish butthole who wanted a new and better life, not caring if we actually loved each other or not. I tried to keep him from you. See ya. I hope you all live happily ever after.”
He tries to continue walking, but a strand of hair is suddenly thrown around his wrist and he’s pulled back.
Logan shakes his head. “If your current life’s bad, I’m not letting you live it. You don’t deserve it, no matter how much you think you do. You’re my best friend.”
“We’ve… known each other for two days.”
“You’re still my best friend. Roman and Patton are close seconds, but they’re younger than me, and I need my best friend to be closer to my age. But that’s not the point! The point is, come with us? Or at least take my tower since I don’t need it anymore?”
“You really want me to come with you?”
“Of course! I never would have left if it weren’t for you. I wouldn’t have met Remus. I need to thank you for that.” Logan turns to Deceit and Eliza. “Can he stay with us? Please?”
The two parents share a glance. “I don’t see why not.” “What’s one more son added to the mix?”

Two years later...
Deceit and Eliza are in tears. Happy tears, though. As is King Thomas.
For it is Logan and Remus’ wedding day.
Patton is the flower boy, Roman is the ring bearer. Virgil is Logan’s best man.
As the grooms have their first dance, Virgil happily watches, until he feels a hand on his shoulder.
“Sorry you didn’t get the happily ever after you wanted, buddy,” Emile says.
“Yeah. It wasn’t the happily ever after I wanted.” Virgil looks between the two people who he now considered his parents, the two kids who he sees as his younger siblings, and the newly-wed couple dancing in the middle of the ballroom. “But it was the happily ever after I needed.”

Chapter 7: Spring
The winter came and went. The kids exchanged gifts with each other just before school ended for break. The Sanders flew to New York to have Christmas with Roman’s birthmom, while the Picanis stayed in town, opting to celebrate the holidays in their new home.
Soon enough, the snow was melting and spring sports and clubs were starting.
“DAD!” Roman screeched as he burst through the door one afternoon, clutching a few papers in his hands.
Logan, Virgil, and Patton were right behind him, carefully taking off their shoes and lining them up on the rug.
“I was taking a nap.” Remy grumbled as Roman dragged him into the living room.
“You’re always napping! And I have news!”
“Good or bad news?” Patton asked as they filed in and sat on the couch.
Roman grinned at him. “Amazing news!”
Once they were all settled on the couch, Roman flipped the paper in his hands around. “We’re doing Into the Woods for the spring musical!!”
“...what is it about?”
A gasp fell from Roman’s mouth at Virgil’s question. “You mean - you haven’t seen it?!”
Virgil shook his head, a small smile on his face. “I’m not really a musical guy, Ro.”
“You watch Disney movies!”
“That’s the exception!”
Roman heaved a dramatic sigh. “Into the Woods is about some of the classic fairy tales. Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk, Little Red Riding Hood, and Rapunzel. But it’s kinda dark, which is why I’d assumed you’d seen it, you heathen.”
Virgil stuck his tongue out at him. “Then why don’t you show it to me, ass-”
“Virgil!”
“Dad’s not even here and Mr. Sanders doesn’t care.”
Remy tapped the top of Virgil’s head with a finger. “Hey. Do as I say, not as I do.”
“Are you gonna join anything, Mr. Emo?” Roman teased, earning a pillow to the face.
As Roman sputtered, Virgil shrugged. “I don’t know. I gotta check.”
“Let us know when the meeting is and we’ll join you.” Logan said from the other end of the couch. Virgil gave him a thumbs up. “As for myself, I’m going to join the astronomy club. Remind me to thank your dad for helping me out with that.”
“I can tell you right now that he’d say it was no problem.” Patton gave Logan a smile, which he returned. “I think I wanna join cooking club.”
“Dad, you should join cooking club.” Another pillow hit Roman in the face, causing him to sputter.
Virgil and Remy high-fived each other before Remy turned to his son. “Just because you’re right doesn’t mean you should say it.”
“Virgil, perhaps you should try a sport.” Logan cut in, hoping to stop the rain of pillows. Roman gave him an appreciative look. “It might help get rid of some of your nervous energy. Obviously it won’t get rid of all of it, but it certainly would help with some of it. In addition to that, it would keep you physically healthy, which could assist with your mental health.”
Virgil couldn’t help but smile. “Lo, did you do research for me?”
“Of course I did. You’re my friend.” Ignoring the chorus of ‘awws’ from the other people in the room, the loudest coming from Patton, Logan turned to his brother. “Please tell me I won’t be your rehearsal buddy.”
“Nah, you’re off the hook. Patton already offered, remember?”
Patton nodded. “I don’t mind doing lines with you. There’s always some waiting time in cooking!”
As the two started discussing what song and monologue Roman would use to audition, Logan moved over to Virgil’s side. He had the school website pulled up on his phone to the spring sports page.
“Is there anything that appeals to you?”
Virgil scanned the list. He wasn’t the biggest fan of anything that could get him seriously injured - which took out baseball and lacrosse. Tennis and volleyball were out too, considering he tended to duck things coming at him rather than hit them back. Which left two things.
“Swimming and track seem okay.” He said, pointing them out on the list. “I’m not a very strong swimmer though, so I guess track?”
“You do seem to have a powerful fight or flight reflex.” Virgil could practically hear the gears turning in Logan’s head as he spoke. “That would account for some speed, though it would likely only do that when your response is activated…”
Remy coughed, getting his son’s attention. “You are not scaring Virgil before the track meets to get him to run faster.”
“It was just an observation!”
“Logan, most of your observations lead to hypotheses, which then lead to experiments.” Remy got off the couch, heading out of the room. “No experiments on siblings or friends.”
Pouting, Logan settled deeper into the couch. “Fine.”
After the four of them had figured out which meetings they wanted to go to, they parted ways.
Logan started to head to his room, stopped immediately by Roman.
“And just where are you going?”
“To do my homework.”
Roman got up, grabbing Logan’s wrist before he could run. “Nope, you’re going to do it out here. That way you can help me if I need it, and I can keep an eye on you. Mr. Picani told you not to overwork yourself, remember?”
“Yes, but -”
“Emile’s a smart guy, you should listen to him.”
The boys looked up as Remy re-entered the room, grabbing a blanket off the couch. Logan raised an eyebrow at him. “I thought you two didn’t get along?”
“We’re making an effort.” Was the response that came over Remy’s shoulder before he disappeared again.
“I won’t be able to focus if you start singing Disney songs.” Logan said, slowly trying to pull himself free from Roman’s grasp.
The grip only tightened. “Then I won’t sing them. And we’ll be using the Pomodoro Technique so that you have to take breaks.”
“You know the Pomodoro Technique?”
Roman rolled his eyes, dragging his brother over to the coffee table. “Of course, that’s how I study. Do you really think I can pay attention to anything for longer than twenty minutes?”
“That doesn’t seem to be an issue for movies.” Logan teased, earning a nudge from his brother.
“Whatever, nerd. Just study.”
True to his word, Roman forced Logan to take breaks when the timer went off. After four bouts of studying, they broke to eat some dinner.
“Normally we’d go back to studying now, but I’m not counting dinner as a break.” Roman told him after they’d cleaned up. “Stay here, I got something at the library for you.”
“Roman, you know I don’t enjoy fantasy novels!”
“Just wait!”
Logan sighed. He was glad that Roman had thought of him enough to get him a library book, but he knew his brother’s taste. Roman tended to only read high fantasy while Logan preferred the mystery novels. Particularly ones that he could figure out before the big twist was revealed.
It was a shock when Roman bounded back down the stairs, an astronomy book in his hands. He held it out to Logan, grinning at the surprise on his brother’s face. “You said you wanted to join the Astronomy Club. I figured you’d like to know some things before the first meeting.”
“Thank you.” Logan took the book from Roman’s hands, immediately shuffling through the pages.
The next day at lunch, Logan was telling them all about what he’d learned from the book.
“Did you know our sun is technically considered a Dwarf star?”
As Logan rambled on about Dwarf, Giant, and Supergiant stars to Virgil, Patton couldn’t help but smile. He whispered to Roman, “It was a really good idea for you to get that book for him. Dad said that he wasn’t sure about Astronomy Club at first, but he seems like he’s going to love it now.”
“I asked the librarian for the biggest book on stars they had.” Roman popped a few grapes into his mouth. “They had to go get a stepstool to get it down from the highest shelf.”
Laughing, they tuned back into the other conversation.
“So, the spring sports meetings are today...one of you will go with me to the track meeting, right?”
“I’m free.”
“As am I.”
“Me too!”
Virgil shifted in his seat. “You don’t all have to go if you don’t want to.”
“Why not? It would be informative.” Logan said, glancing at the other two.
Roman shrugged. “I can check out the hot track guys.”
“We gotta ride home together anyway, silly!” Patton flashed his brother a smile.
Relaxing, Virgil let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. “Thanks guys.”
Once the bell rang they all headed off to their next classes, promising to meet up after school on the front steps.
Virgil ended up getting their first, having speed walked out of his last class. He leaned against the railing, doing his best to keep his cool. But he couldn’t help his anxiety bubbling up, making his thoughts swirl.
Thankfully, both Logan and Patton had anticipated this, showing up at the same time. Roman wasn’t too far behind them, completing their group of four.
“Where’s the meeting?” Logan asked.
Virgil’s eyes flew wide. “Oh my god I never figured out where the meeting was.”
As the other two immediately started reassuring Virgil and trying to calm him down, Roman pulled a sheet of paper out of his backpack. “This says it’s in the gym with Coach Leo.”
“Where did you even get that?”
Roman shrugged. “I like knowing what’s going on at school.”
Now that Virgil was much calmer, the four of them headed to the gym. There were a few other sports meetings in there, grouped up around the room. There were only a few kids there for track, Ted being one of them. He waved as they joined him.
“Are all of you going out for track?”
Roman shook his head. “I like exercise, but sports aren’t really my thing.”
“I’d just trip over all the hurdles.”
Logan simply shook his head.
“I’m the only one of us joining.” Virgil said.
Ted gave him a smile. “Cool. Maybe we can carpool to meets and stuff.”
“Good to see you boys!” Coach Leo said, making Virgil jump. “Who’s joining the team.”
Virgil raised his hand, his voice failing him for a moment. “I am, sir - Coach.”
“We’re glad to have you on the team.”
“Don’t I have to try out?” Virgil looked completely confused.
Coach Leo laughed, before bending down to their level. “Yes, you do. But I’ve seen you in gym class. You’re a fast kid, I have no doubts that you’ll make the team with ease. And if you don’t make the team, you can always help me out if you want.”
Shockingly, Virgil realized that he wasn’t very anxious with Coach Leo. Something about him exuded an air of safety. He gave him a rare grin. “That’d be awesome.”
They stayed for the meeting, hearing all the boring details and the more fun ones. Virgil was a little nervous that he’d have to take the bus to away meets, but Ted was quick to reassure him that they could sit together.
“Tryouts will be this Saturday from 9-3. Come when you can and we’ll get you set up.”
With that, Coach Leo started handing out the packets for the students to take home. Virgil was one of the first to receive one, getting a wink from the coach before he moved on.
The four of them headed back to the front of the school, where their parents were going to pick them up.
“No one else has any meetings today?” Logan asked, pulling out his phone. He gently took a sheet from Virgil, adding in the dates of the home track meets.
Roman shook his head. “Auditions aren’t for a few weeks.”
“The cooking club meeting is tomorrow.”
“As is the astronomy meeting.” Logan handed the sheet back to Virgil. “Roman, did you know when the shows were for -”
“April 24th and 25th.”
There was an eye roll from Logan, mostly to hide his small smile.
As the four of them exited the double doors, they saw Emile and Remy talking in the pick up area.
Waving a hand toward them, Roman asked, “Who wants to bet they’re fighting?”
“I’m sure they’re not -” Patton started saying, immediately stopping once they were within earshot.
“I’m not saying anyone needs therapy, I’m just saying it helps a lot of people.”
“I’m not one for dumping my issues on someone else.”
“Dad!” Patton called out, getting their attention. “Virgil has something for you to sign.”
Remy waved to Emile as Roman and Logan got in the car. “See ya, babes.”
“Yes, goodbye, Remy.”
Virgil and Patton exchanged a glance. Something had to be done about those two, they just didn’t know what.

We're Simply Meant To Be
(Lol, I'm not good at writing pure fluff, I'm sorry if it's bad)
Virgil stared up at the giant house anxiously, as Patton pulled up outside of it. Last week his friend, Roman, had invited him over to spend the night, and he would've been happy to go except that Roman was a giant, not only that but... Virgil had a crush on said giant. Apart from the fact that Virgil was terrified of being around a giant all night and embarrassing himself in front of his crush, he was also the only one Roman had invited to come over, with the only other people going to be there being his family...of giants.
"Alrighty Kiddo, we're here!" His older brother chirped happily.
"Patton, you're also friends with Ro. You sure you don't wanna come?" Virgil prayed he'd say yes so he'd at least have some support there with him.
"Sorry Virgil, but you're the one he invited." Patton gave his lil bro a sympathetic look, knowing what Virgil really meant. "Remember, if you don't want to go you don't have to."
"No! I-I mean," Virgil corrected. "I want to go, it's just..."
"It's okay Virgil." Patton gently placed a supportive hand on his brother's shoulder. "Just remember, if you ever want to leave just call me. I'll be here on an instant." Virgil nodded slowly in response, then wrapped Patton in a tight hug.
"Thanks Pat, you're the best." He mumbled through Patton's shirt.
"I know." He smiled. "Now get going! You can't keep your prince charming waiting!"
"Patton!" He whined but it was all in good fun, making Patton chuckle. Virgil huffed. "I'll see you tomorrow." He finally got out of the car.
"See you then kiddo!" With that the car door was closed and Patton drove off.
No backing out now. Virgil swallowed his emotions and approached the ginormous door before him. Near the bottom, far enough down for a human to reach, there was a human sized doorbell. He took a deep breath, pushed the doorbell, then let it out. There was a loud ringing from inside the house followed by the sound of movement and booming footsteps that shook the ground as they got closer. He stared up at the door nervously waiting to see who would answer.
Suddenly the door opened, without warning causing Virgil to jump back in fear. When he looked at who it was, he only felt his fear intensify slightly, as the person who opened the door was Roman's brother. Remus. The infamous school jock who didn't think twice about the consequence of his actions. Virgil's body shook as he breathed, trying to stay calm.
"Hellooooo?" Remus called out as he looked around, making Virgil realize that he couldn't see him. Did Roman not tell them that he was coming?
"I-I'm down here!" Virgil called out through cupped hands. He took a step back as his eyes widened when Remus' eyes spotted his minuscule form.
"Oh, it's you." The giant shrugged as he turned back inside. "HEY RO! YOU'RE HUMAN'S HERE COME PICK THEM UP!!!" He shouted so loud that Virgil had to cover his ears. There was a muffled shout from inside and some shuffling. Remus gave a salute to Virgil, then left.
Virgil waited patiently as the pounding of footsteps got louder, making the ground under him shake. Soon there was Roman huffing for breath at the door.
"Hey"-huff-"Virgil." Roman greeted out of breath. "Sorry about that, I didn't know when you'd get here and I didn't want Remus to do anything." He scratched the back of his neck nervously as he apologized.
"It's fine Princey," Virgil shrugged. "so this is your place?" As Virgil spoke Roman lowered a hand for him to climb onto.
"Yeah, the ole Princeton residance!" Roman said as he watched his tiny friend accept the offer and climb on.
"Huh, house of the mayor's family..." Virgil spoke while being lifted by his friend's hand. "Thought it'd be bigger." He shrugged nonchalantly.
"Hey!" Roman made a few noises of offense that Virgil knew as offended princey noises. "It's big enough Tom Thumb!" He huffed.
"Whatever you say Jolly Green Giant." Virgil smirked as Roman gawked in mock offense.
"Exscuse you! If anything I'm Scott Lang when he grows!" Roman spoke proudly as he carried Virgil inside.
"Whatever you tell yourself Jack The Beanstalk." Virgil barely held in his laughter at Roman's response.
"Well I never-" Roman shook his head as he did a southern bell impression finally getting a small chuckle from Virgil. Roman smiled at that, proud that he was able to keep his small friend calm. Truth is, little did Virgil know that Roman had a crush on him and had known that Virgil was going to be nervous, witch is why he was going to do anything to keep Virgil happy until midnight. For at midnight, he planned to finally do something...
"So what's the plan tonight, Prince Armpit-Stink?" Virgil snapped Roman out of his thoughts, just as they arrived at his room.
"Well, for starters, you stop calling me that." Roman smiled as Virgil laughed. "Then we'll do the usual sleepover stuff." He shrugged.
"What's "the usual sleepover stuff"?" Virgil used airquotes.
"Well... I don't really know." Roman chuckled to himself as the little emo shook his head. Roman sat Virgil down on his bed and closed his bedroom door as he thought. While Roman was doing that, Virgil noti6his TV and Disney collection.
"We could watch a movie?" Virgil shrugged.
"Excellent idea!" Roman exclaimed. "Any preferences?"
"Tim Burton's always good." Virgil sat down on Roman's pillow and got comfortable.
"Of course you would say that." Roman tutted lovingly. He pulled out his copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas Collectors Edition. He popped the disk into his DVD player and set up the TV. Once Roman finished he carefully got onto the bed with Virgil.
Then the movie began.

At some point during the movie Roman had laid down, his head on the pillow behind Virgil, and Virgil had snuggled up against Roman's nose. It was getting late and by the song Kidnap Mr. Sandycaws Roman's mom had come by to drop off some pizza for them, witch was now discarded on the floor. Neither of them really spoke throughout the movie, just enjoying each others company.
That is until Roman heard a small voice singing beautifully, yet quietly, along to Sally's Song. "I sense there's something in the wind. That feels like tragedy's at hand. And though I'd like to stand by him. Can't shake this feeling that I have." Their voice was beautiful as they harmonized with Sally.
"The worst is just around the bend. And does he notice. My feelings for him? And will he see How much he means to me? I think it's not to be." As Roman listened, he knew it was Virgil singing, and was amazed by it. Causing him to fall even deeper for the emo.
"What will become of my dear friend? Where will his actions lead us then? Although I'd like to join the crowd. In their enthusiastic cloud." Virgil avoided looking at Roman. What would he think? Why was he even friends with Virgil? He was popular and Virgil was... not. Why did Roman like him?
"Try as I may, it doesn't last. And will we ever. End up together? No, I think not. It's never to become. For I am not the one" Virgil let his head hand on the last note, sadly. He tried to subtly glance at Roman. Why did he stick around? This is all going to end someday and he's just going to get hurt when the day comes that Roman realizes that he doesn't need him anymore. He turned back to the TV and stared at it as he willed himself not to cry.
"My dearest freind, if you don't mind. I'd like to join you by your side." A louder, more confident voice sang the reprise out lovingly from behind Virgil.
"Where we could gaze into the stars. And sit together now and forever. For it is plain as anyone could see." Virgil turned around to see Roman staring at him with a deep longing, as he sang. Although Virgil had tried to be subtle when he had looked at Roman and when he had tried to hold his tears back, Roman had still noticed. It had hurt to notice that Virgil wasn't just sining to sing, but from a deeper feeling.
They smiled lovingly at each other as they both thought the same thing and sang the last line together in perfect harmony.
"We're simply meant to be."
They both leand forward, Roman less than Roman but still enough. Virgil pressed his lips against Roman's large ones as they both closed their eyes. When they both pulled away Virgil's eyes widened.
"Oh my God! Roman I'm so sorry!" Virgil rushed out embarrassed.
"No, no, hey, it's fine." Roman comforted his little emo. "I love you Virgil." Roman smiled warmly.
Virgil hesitated for a moment, and then leaned in and kissed Roman again.

Advent 1st (December 1st) The Adventures
As some of you might know, i did a serie of stories for Advent and x-mas last year called The Noodle Adventures, and this year I return with the trash rat and a new name for the story which now is just The Adventures. So stories for the Sundays of December, the 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd. And lastly x-mas the 24th of december on a Tuesday.

Roman was wide awake and standing outside in the imagination, dressed in winter clothes. Jumping on the spot as he watched the time on the watch he had snatched from Logan for this occasion, intent on returning it before night was over.
13 minutes until it was December
A loud yawn broke the silence, causing Roman to turn his head.
Remus was walking towards him, rubbing a hand at his eyes, dressed in winter clothes as well.
 “Why did you ask me to be awake and come outside at this stupid hour? It’s cold!” Remus whined, hiding his mouth and nose in his scarf for a short moment.
 “You wanna help me make it snow?” Roman asked with a grin.
Remus just pouted and twisted his hand. Snowflakes, that looked more like ash and ice, fell from his fingertips. Landing on the ground covered by dead leaves, turning to a small pile of slush.
 “It will just be the bad kind of snow… the one no one likes.” Remus huffed putting his hands in his pockets, kicking the pile of slush with his boot, pulling his face down to hide in the scarf again.
 “Now don’t say that, Bro, I’m sure there is someone who liked the slushy snow, but we can make this work! We just have to work together.” Roman said throwing his arms out to his sides before he grinned wider.
 “Not like you needed my help before...” Remus grumbled, giving away a slight shiver despite the warm clothes. Roman’s smile fell a bit, and he sighed.
He wanted this to be a good thing, a memorable thing. The things they had made with Deceit last year were precious to him, and he wanted this years december to be just as precious now when he actually could spend time with Remus, without Virgil or Patton going into a strict Freeze out.
 “I know, but I want to do this with you. I want this to become a thing. We have so many years to make up for, please?”
Remus looked to Roman who gave him a hopeful look, Remus grumbled before he sighed.
 “Once, if it doesn’t work, I’m going back to sleep.” Roman made a happy noise and pulled Remus into a strong hug making the other twin yelp at the suddenness and kick his feet that was off the ground as he groaned when Roman hugged him harder.
 “Thank you, Remus! You’re the best!”
 “Gha! Put me down! Your goddamn gorgeous muscles are breaking my back in half!” Roman laughed and put Remus back down.
 “Not my fault you’re a beanstalk.”
 “I’m taller than you!”
 “But you’re still younger!”
 “ONLY BY TWO MINUTES!”
The beeping of the watch made Roman blink and look down, it was now 5 minutes left until December.
 “Let’s try small scale first.” Roman said.
 “I- You saw that I just did, and it didn’t work.” Remus huffed.
 “Let’s not give up, I know you can do it, we just need to find out how.”
 “This is stupid...”
 “That’s not a no.” Roman sand and held out his hand. Remus grumbled as he took it.
The remaining 4 minutes were spent by Roman doing his best to show Remus how to make snow. Remus did his best, but slowly and surely the slush grew less ashy looking and more like small ice pebbles now and again they were flat like normal snowflakes. Roman was full on speaking praises and giving some pointers to help Remus.
The watch beeped one minute till midnight and by then a thin layer of snow was already between the two twins.
 “You ready?” Roman asked with a beaming smile.
 “... As I’ll ever be I guess...” Remus replied. Roman just grinned. Before he started to concentrate and move his hands in an intricate pattern, Remus followed his moves to the best of his ability.
in the space that their hands moved around red and green magic started to swirl, growing brighter and paler until it the colours were hard to break apart from each other.
 “You ready?” Roman asked Remus gave a nod “On the count of three throw this as hard as you can towards the sky.” Remus nodded again.
Roman smiled which caused Remus to give away a wobbly smile as well.
 “One, Two-”
The watch beeped midnight
 “Three!”
Remus and Roman threw the magic ball as hard as they could up into the air, it swirled, before it gave away a swoosh and shot up higher and higher before it exploded into a bright light that lit up the whole mindspace for a short moment.
Roman was grinning.
Remus could only stare as gentle snowflakes started to fall from the clouds that now started to cover the night sky.
Falling slowly and gentle first before they grew in number and soon everything was steadily growing white.
 “We did it!” Roman called happily as he turned to Remus, grinning from ear to ear, a small layer of snow on his shoulders. Remus did too, as well as on his hat.
Their breath fogged before them and Remus slowly turned his head to look at Roman with wide, sparkling eyes. He opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out.
Roman reached out and patted Remus on the shoulder.
 “I knew you could do it.” Roman said with a bright smile.
Remus just gave away a laugh.

Patton yawned when he came downstairs to start breakfast, only to halt at the bottom of the stairs when he saw how Roman and Remus had fallen asleep on the couch. snuggled close to each other. Patton chuckled as he walked over to pull the blanket over them both, sending a look outside to see the thick layer of snow that now coated the imagination, sparkling in the morning sun.
He smiled as he stroked his fingers through Roman’s hair, making Roman smile wider in his sleep. Hesitating a bit before he did the same to Remus, blinking in surprise at how soft his hair was, despite how greasy it looked and how Remus sleepily leaned into the touch.
 “Good job you two.” Patton murmured gently before he left for the kitchen.

Aight this is a oneshot from a world where Patton climbs a beanstalk. Also, it’s sad! :D
Patton didn’t know what to do. He had never expected this to go so wrong. In all the fairytales, Jack had climbed the beanstalk just fine. He came down rich and the mean old giants never caught him.
Unfortunately, Patton did not share the same fate. The moment he climbed to the top of that great stalk, it was as if the giants were waiting for him. The rest was a blur, hands and jars and wide peering eyes. Now Patton sat in an ornamental birdcage, dangling in front of the kitchen window. He no longer feared that the giants would add him to the pot being stirred on the stove, but that didn’t mean the sight of Roman cooking put him at ease. Still, at least Roman left him alone. The Giant kept to himself, humming a tune unfamiliar to Patton as he chopped up some vegetables.
Patton gazed out the window, watching as the snow drifted slowly to the ground. Up here the flakes were as large as his fingers. He distantly wondered if it was snowing down on Earth yet. Would Ma have been able to prepare for the cold season all on her own? Patton had been gone an awful long time by now. He had lost count of the days, and sometimes he even forgot there was a time when he was amongst people his own size.
“Songbird, what’s wrong?” Patton blinked, realizing he was being addressed. He turned to see that Roman was looking over in his direction. “It’s just snow, it won’t hurt you.”
“Oh, ah I’ve seen snow before.” Patton informed him. It seemed the giants often thought he didn’t know about things. “I’m just…” Patton let his sentence trail off, looking back to the window. What was going on? Why was he feeling this way again?
“Sing with me, songbird.” Roman suggested, coming closer with a smile. “You’ll feel better.” He began humming that same tune.
“I don’t know that song.” Patton shook his head, pulling his knees up to his chest. He appreciated that Roman was trying to make him feel better, Patton had always loved singing, but right now it just felt…wrong.
“Well, then could you sing me a song?” Roman suggested. “Please?”
Patton paused. He didn’t think he wanted to sing, but as soon as Roman made that suggestion a certain tune had resurfaced in his memory. A lullaby his Ma had taught him when he was young.
“Okay.” Patton gave a shaky nod. His voice started off soft, almost scared, but with an encouraging nod from Roman his volume increased. It wasn’t exactly a happy song, telling the story of a child getting separated from their parents by fae and the mother searching far and wide for the rest of their life.
Patton began to picture himself in the child’s shoes, his mother running across the fields calling his name over and over again. Was she the one who cut down the beanstalk? Patton had seen it disappear from the garden a while ago. His Ma had no idea what he’d done. Patton had told no one where he was going, and now he would never see them again.
Patton sniffed, bringing the song to an early close so he could wipe at his eyes. He wasn’t sure when he had begun crying.
“Uh…” Roman looked uneasy, given the fact that singing had had the opposite intended effect. “Songbird, how about we try a….happier melody?”
Patton shook his head. “I don’t know any.”

Alright @hiddendreamer67, it took me a week, but here you go! Roman and the Beanstalk feat. a tol Patton. 
Anyone else remember when Disney was making that new movie Gigantic? Because I sure do, and I used that as inspiration for this piece.

When Roman first climbed the Beanstalk he hadn’t really expected anything to be there, let alone a house among the clouds. And he most certainly didn’t expect that the house would be of gigantic proportions. Most surprising, however; was the giant man that occupied the house. Roman wasn’t one for stealing but he did want to bring something back to prove this adventure to his friends,(especially Logan) he didn’t think one coin would be missed. But now as he sat on a giant kitchen table receiving a lecture about stealing from the seemingly friendly giant, Roman began to regret the decision to climb the beanstalk in the first place. For once he wished he had listened to his overly anxious friend Virgil, when he tried to discourage Roman from climbing the beanstalk when he had said “Something bad could happen.”

Fake title: Just Golden
Jack and the Beanstalk AU where Virgil’s house accidentally ends up uprooted by the beanstalk, and he unwillingly is forced out of it when it’s almost stepped on by a giant Roman, who scoops him up and brings him to Logan. They’re sick of humans trying to steal their shit, naturally, and the last one they mercifully sent back apparently took some beans and rumors with him, so they stick him in a cage to play the harp and call it a day.
This is all well and good until their small friend, an avian cursed with heavy golden goose feathers named Patton, meets poor Virgil and starts spending time with him, much to the giants’ dismay. After all, humans always want to steal Patton’s feathers for riches and this one should be no different. Getting close to it will only get Patton hurt again! (Or will it?)
