Initial Reaction to Finale of Junior Year
1) the second half of the battle was weird. The Bad Kids are talented, and the players know the name and had strategic moments though nothing felt serious. There was too much going on.
2) Loved all of the Bad Kids talking to Arkana. Those were great moments that looked at the characters and showed just how far they had grown.
3) I’m interested to see what the story of the Rat Grinders hold later down the line.
4) I could not take Porter seriously as a villain, just everything he was saying was leading his power.
5) I can’t believe that Gorgug had like five love interests in the last episode. I need to know what relationship comes from that. Did he date Squeem over the summer? Will he date Unit? Suddenly Mark Anne is a contender? Okay, go off king.
6) I can’t believe that Arkana is traveling with Squeem.
7) The possible senior year could be interesting with Kalina as a main villain. I know it won’t happen any time soon, but I would love to see it.
8) I want to see the Pantheon that Kristin creates with Cassandra and Arkana, I want to know who the followers would be, what people would the Pantheon be for?
9) The episode was weird and didn’t make much sense though I did love every moment of it. It was a great end for a wonderful season!

LMK S5 trailer, Chinese pantheon infodump, and some ideas
…Man, normally, I feel the urge to write fix-it AUs after rewatching episodes and coming across particularly bizarre theories and takes, not before the new season's even out.
Thanks, S5 trailer.
Consider this your spoiler warning, because the rest of this post will all be my personal opinions about a few major story beats that were revealed + the rough outline for a fix-it AU.
It's also a bit ranty, and features some criticisms of the general narrative, so if that's not your cup of tea, feel free to avoid this one.
Li Jing becoming JE/the regent of the Celestial Realm is just hilariously absurd. I mean, it makes a teeny tiny bit more sense than the "Nezha will be the new JE" fan theory, but that's not a very high bar.
1) In-universe, he had done a grand total of nothing while shit was hitting the fan, and only showed up after it was all over. Which, tbh, isn't too far from his role in FSYY. No, wait, at least in FSYY, he killed Luo Xuan via a pagoda to the head, after the guy had all his fire-based magical treasures neutralized and taken away by Princess Longji.
Yeah, congrats, LMK's Li Jing, you've somehow become even more useless than your FSYY and JTTW counterparts——which is a true feat.
2) Even if someone's making him JE/regent, it wouldn't be the Ten Kings. To put it simply: the Underworld doesn't have that authority. They are the most pathetic of all divine bureaucracies, who pretty much only show up to get pushed around and revive the occasional dead guy in JTTW (and I still love them).
Like, they ain't no Hades or Satan. Just the 10 judges of the Dead People Supreme Court. To heavily paraphrase Di Ting in the original JTTW novel:
"How much power do Underworld gods really have? (幽冥之神,能有多少法力)" "...Certainly not enough to stop a rampaging demonic macaque who's as strong as SWK, if I say the truth out loud in here and piss him off. Just send them to the Buddha, please."
An analogy: if the Celestial Host is the imperial court, the Underworld is the ministry in charge of judicial processes and prisons. They don't even have authority over the imperial censors who answer directly to the emperor, let alone the power to determine a successor to the throne during a major crisis.
If this was to make the tiniest bit of sense, Li Jing would be the one commanding THEM, not the other way around. Or if it's Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha himself giving orders to Li Jing…for some reason.
But we know that ain't happening bc of the show's strange aversion to showing Buddhist deities on screen, not to mention it would be very OOC for Ksitigarbha, whose job is granting relief and salvation to souls in the Path of Hell, not judging and punishing them like the Ten Kings.
3) If you must make Li Jing the emperor/regent, you have a more mythos-accurate and obvious choice than the Ten Kings, considering you already got the Four Divine Beasts involved!
Yes, I'm talking about their bosses, the humanoid "directional + elemental gods": Lord Father of the East (Wood), Queen Mother of the West (Metal), Emperor Zhenwu of the North (Water).
No South though...because our mythos can't agree on a single directional god of the South, but for shit and giggles, just imagine Zhurong, Yandi, Huaguang, and the Star of Fiery Virtues all sitting on the same narrow bench, staring awkwardly at each other.
Maybe we can have Ziwei, Great Emperor of the Central Sky and North Stars, who is one of the Four Sovereigns(四御) in Daoism (two of which could also be an alternate choice, but maybe a bit too obscure for foreign audiences).
He commands the stellar deities and heavenly bodies——which the Four Divine Beasts would technically fall under, as guardians of the four quadrants of the sky, each in charge of 7 Lunar Mansions.
4) But if you already have these deities, why the hell would any of them make Li Jing the regent? Wouldn't it be more likely for them to create a Celestial Council of Regents themselves, with Devaraja Li Jing under their command as the leader of what's left of the celestial army?
Like, you can still have them, or one of them, going after the gang and ordering Li Jing to put the fillet on SWK.
I can see Zhenwu the Demon-Vanquisher doing that, since the fillet isn't too different from what he did to Huaguang and a lot of the demons he subdued in JTTN: feeding them magical water/fire pills that would corrode/ignite their insides whenever they tried to resist.
(Yeah, compared to that, the fillet would look like the lenient option, since it's just pain and won't actually dissolve/cook you alive from the inside out...)
And it wouldn't be bc he thought SWK was to blame for the Brotherhood's epic fuck-up...somehow. Like, what even is that logic?!
I mean, I can kinda see the Ten Kings doing it as a pre-emptive "Don't blame us for our shitty security, blame that guy over there!" move...except they are no longer answering to any higher authorities who'd hold them responsible at that point!
"What about Li Jing?" You may ask. Yeah, WHAT ABOUT LI JING? Why does Li Jing have to get involved in this?
If he's forcing the Ten Kings to pass judgement on the gang (which surely doesn't look like it in the trailers), why's he enlisting the help of the weakest faction and not, y'know, his celestial soldiers and other gods?
If the Ten Kings get Li Jing to be their enforcer...well, how the Eighteen Hells did they manage that? What could the Ghost Supreme Court and their crappy prison-torture chamber-soul customs office complex even offer Li Jing as a bribe?
And if their goals were to avoid responsibilities by blaming someone else, how stupid did they have to be to actively involve/create a higher authority who can punish them once the cat gets out of the proverbial bag, instead of, I dunno, just stay where they are and keep their head down???
So in my fix-it AU, it's more of a "Better safe than sorry" scenario, where every demon working for the new Celestial Council must prove their loyalty via swallowing the water/fire pill, now that even more dangerous demons have escaped and are running around in the aftermath of S4.
And Great Sage and company are not exempt from that new law either——"If you are truly righteous and Not Like Them and not planning to rebel, what's there to be afraid of?"
Horrified by the Demon-Vanquishing Mansion's 16th century standards of "justice" and "mercy", they naturally would not have any of it, and thus the conflict begins.
Not only would this show the fallout of Azure's misguided rebellion——that, in trying to make a better world, he had made it 120% worse for both humanity and demonkind in less drastic and more realistic ways aside from dooming reality to irreversible destruction, it would also help with the major show-not-tell problem about Celestial cruelty bc the "good guys" in power saw no problem with this kind of shit.
If you want your lawful antagonists who take Order to its extremes, the warrior sovereign in black leading an elite army of demon-hunters + penal legions made of "reformed" demons would be a better choice than the Ghost Supreme Court, don't ya think?
(Fun fact: in Zaju plays, Zhenwu was often said to be the boss of Nezha and Erlang, so him commanding Li Jing wouldn't be too out of place either.)
Now, you may ask, why do I even care? After all, isn't it clear that the show is neither mythos-accurate nor trying to be, considering the JE got K.O.ed by a Bodhisattva's cat of all things?
Not to mention the season's not even out yet, so why jump to conclusions so quickly? Maybe the actual episodes will have explanations that make sense. Relax.
...Cause I don't mind less-than-stellar animations if the story's good, and since I keep noticing the less-than-stellar animations, it clearly isn't good enough.
Also, it's not like it's only the implications that are absurd——my problem is with the whole premise of "Li Jing becoming the new JE/Regent" and "The gang is prosecuted by the Ten Kings for bullshit reasons, even though these guys should not, and never have the power to enforce anything over SWK."
I don't like calling narrative choices "wrong" per se, and prefer to see it on a gradient of "least to most narrative potential". When it comes to adaptations, if the option that is faithful to the original work will result in a less interesting story, then I'll happily take the one that isn't as faithful and takes creative liberties, but makes a better story.
And here, I feel like being faithful to the Chinese mythos inspirations will add to the narrative potential instead of subtract from it, and the idea they come up with kinda...goes against how Chinese pantheons work, in a very simplified and "westernized" manner.
Mostly bc I am a Chinese Underworld mythos lover and think they deserve better than being ominous Hades/Grim Reaper knockoffs. And out of all the possible Chinese gods, Nezha's asshole dad is the least qualified or interesting candidate to fill in the power vaccum left by JE's death.

Thoughts I had during TGCF Season 2 Ep 1
I’ve finished my quarter and I am spending my spring break reacting to Season 2! Let’s make this reaction series count!
-Welcome back to Puqi Village people, at morning and known for their chestnuts!  (The best nuts I’ve had outta the packet!)
-We are back at Puqi Shrine people!
-And the Altar is packed!
-Instrumental Hong Jue!!!
-Did he oversleep?
-Aww he’s so lonely! :’(
-Dang.  That is a clear stream
-Eeeeyep, he is thirsty!
-And a water droplet fell past his freaking throat!  They just had to animate that!
-It’s the same ring from last Ep!
-You mean, ‘Gege’ Yeah, I’ve already typed this, “I watch the English Dub religiously” Don’t judge me!
-It is the same ring people!!!
-Oooh he hid it!
-Yep like two years for us in 2023
-Oh her eye bags got deeper and darker
-Welp it just got serious
-Looks like we’re back in heaven
-They added 3D palace shots and camera panning
-Woah that was a really good transition with the bell toll
-I wonder what kept the emperor all season…
-Feng Xin!
-Mu Qing!
-It’s that female Blue robed NPC from Ep 4 on his far left!
-*Looks at how the camera pans up to the Heavenly Capital* My Oc Qing Tao is like: The Oldest Enemy I know, stairs…
-New opening people woo!!!
-New opening animation had me sold!!!  They really improved 2 years later
-I love how the music switches from a majestic powerful orchestra tune to a comical xylophone like leitmotif upon introducing Xie Lian.  To say, “And then there’s that guy.  Then there’s that guy.”
-Social Distancing, Ancient Chinese Pantheon Style
-Man tough crowd today!
-And after every official flees the Trash god, one of my Junior Official OCs, Long He goes, “Huh, who is that dude?”  And then his dad, a Civil God will say, “That dude is the Crown Prince of Xianle.  His highness crown prince Xie Lian!” And then that Civil god begrudgingly brings his palm to his face.
-*Hears Mengyou calling his highness*: Ladies, Gentlemen and Enby friends, Him!
-This has the energy of giving someone a lanyard pass to visit a certain building
-“It’s not that hard!”  “You ascended hundreds of years ago you know better!” “Now keep it with you!”  Only like 4 minutes into the first Ep and that NPC is already getting the best lines.  (More of Lang Qianqiu’s trusty assistant later this season folks!)
-He sounds just like the English actor for Elam, Justin Briner, from the Heroic Legend of Arslan (another awesome historical manga!)  Coincidentally, Elam is also one of Arslan’s most trusted Allies.
-I can’t wait to write more of my ATLA x TGCF crossover, The Scrap Immortal and the Avatar, just imagine the Gaang’s reaction to learning that there’s more than one crown prince worshipped!
-Man, it’s like I always say, “The rumor mill’s always a’runnin!”  Or water wheel since it’s ancient China
-Hi Ling Wen, man what kind of product did she use to hide those eye bags???
-I’ve started reading the Manhua series so, Huh? No cursed shackle?
-It’s been days and you still haven’t found the Moldy faced boy from Episode 3???
-I also can’t wait to write Aangs reaction inside that huge throne room, (“It’s bigger than the one in Ba Sing Se!”)
-Now we’re actually seeing the emperor, the first time was in the Episode 1 flashback near the end
-Now we get the first appearance of Pei Ming, who appeared in the Flashback of Ep 3
-Well that sounded patronizing coming from Pei Ming
-Now Pei Xiu has to reap what he sowed.
-Yep that’s a kill count
-I love how this next scene is basically,
Pei Ming: Your Highness, please tell everyone who accompanied you?  Then Xie Lian starts to compose an alibi:  Ah yes!  I will do that.  It was incredible!  What did we get swept in a sandstorm or something?  Oh yes! It was just a youth in red robes who was knowledgeable about the Ban Yue kingdom.  <- This incorrect quote is inspired by Zuko and Iroh lying to Commander Zhao about the state of their ship in episode 3, The Southern Air Temple.  (Does anyone else think that Xie Lian, is what would happen if you combined both Iroh and Zuko?)
-The face Xie Lian made when he’s trying to keep fibbing and brought his index finger to his cheek that was good body language
-Hi Windmaster.
-Oooh Feng Xin and Mu Qing
-Welp you tried keeping him innocent Xie Lian
-Not as complicated as your love life, maybe I should do a Pei Ming roast count?
-Hey Xie Lian is smarter than you look
-Pei Xiu still wants to protect Ban Yue even facing his impending banishment.
-Ok that line and Pei Ming’s attempt to kick Pei Xiu does seem like an abusive action in my perspective.
-Woah, and that was Jun Wu’s own gavel.
-Well that was a short trial
-Him calling Xie Lian to stay, has the exact energy of a teacher calling one student to stay after class to talk.
-Ling Wen is now talking with Jun Wu
- Now that was a really brief meet up between the Xianle trio.
-Thank you Wind Master, and they are a savage!
-Well he’s still mad
-*Sees Qianqiu still asleep standing up*: XDXDXDXDXD
-Aw he woke him up!
-Don’t worry honey, you didn’t miss much anyway
-How in the heck was he able to doze off through all that shouting. I almost fell asleep in a lecture and that’s nothing compared to TaiHua’s feat
-*Hears Jun Wu speak like*: Oh gods! Why did they have to make him sound so seductive! He’s like an East Asian Belos! (And I’m still busy working on Murder They Cast’s first phase)
-Oh Xie Lian’s expression when Jun Wu talks to him, it’s concerning!
-That soft “forgive me”
-I mean we learned about his huge failure in Season 1
-“How Disappointing!” STOP!!!
-Oooh I didn’t notice this during the rewatch but they played a stringed instrumental version of Bu San.
-Srsly HOW BIG IS HIS FREAKING PALACE?!?!?!
-A mural of heaven
-You gotta love Xie Lian’s modesty
-“Such a low opinion” yep his voice is like liquid gold and it is pure torture!
-“How’d you seduce trouble this time!” That tease in his voice why!!!!
-Aw good for you Xie Lian
-Just you wait till the second half of this season
-It’s their version of shooting a flare gun
-Oooh from left to right is Feng Xin, an unknown person behind him, next there’s Ling Wen(with what happens later in the series), Lang Qianqiu in the middle, Mu Qing is next, then there’s Pei Ming in front of him, and the last guy might be Quan’s Yizhen since he also appears in the 2nd half of the series. I hope I found every martial god
-Also the Thunder Master (my OC Leishi) tends to work part time
-There are retired officials???
-In tsiata (my TGCF x ATLA crossover, The Scrap immortal and the Avatar) Ghost City is more modernized than the Spirit World, since it’s mostly untamed wilderness
-Oh he had balls defending San Lang people
-“Your majesty makes me sound like a little princess” yeah that’s what you are honey
Tumblr media
-That pose! I was watching this ep with my older sister and she said, “Man is draping himself!”
-He’s gonna touch the scimitar, isn’t he? (I’ve watched clips of Season 2 before doing my reaction posts)
-And Xie Lian still has the best preferences good on him!
-Xianle trio mention
- And I still think clearing the debt should’ve taken longer, but that’s just my small nitpick
-Yeah nobody round here can keep a secret
- *Sees Jun Wu walk up to Xie Lian reminding him to be careful and puts his hand on his shoulder*: That’s too much pressure!!!
- “I had it erected for you.” James Cheek totally had fun writing Season 2’s script
-I can see why he prefers his own shrine over how massive and opulent his new palace is.
-Hi Windmaster
-Ooh a pond reflection
-Yep that’s your traveling parter
-Then he just fans himself and he instantly slays
-Jacob Eiseman had fun with his performance and ate up every crumb
-Windmaster is Genderfluid Bisexual culture people!
- “Thoroughly~” Yep that just slayed me I’m down
-Yeah Qingxuan’s cultivation backstory is gonna age like curdled milk in Book 4
-Man I just love all of Xie Lian and Shi Qingxuan’s interactions with each other!
-Xie Lian, honey, you are way too good to be a tumor, trust me
-I love how Qingxuan also defended Ban Yue from Pei Ming
-“You were my kind of crazy” I love how Shi Qingxuan and Xie Lian instantly became besties
-Dude, Qingxuan puts the “fun” in function in both forms!
-This is exactly the reason I made my Thunder master OC Leishi female too.
-Now I gotta draw Xie Lian’s female form
-Yeah I react the same when letting a small amount of alcohol in my system
-The witching hour
-To quote a well known assassin Yor Forger, “No way I’m doing this sober”
-That one wrinkled ghost did not age gracefully
-Yeah their burial grounds are in Taiwan, awesome island I definitely need to visit
- Why did they have to design every Heavenly Official to be so Attractive???
-It’s the Spirit World from Spirited Away
-Ghost City would seem like a more modern area than the Spirit World in the Last Airbender
-The heck’s this confetti
-Ooh I like the green dressed spirit with the dark bamboo hat
-Hi Jian Lan
Literally any of my young adults would react to a promiscuous person with just one word in annoyance, “Prostitutes…”
-Honey Xie Lian is already outta your league, try finding someone else that’s your type
-Yeah you didn’t have to tell everyone about your medical condition, heck I don’t even want to picture the Gaang’s reaction after hearing it
-Ghost City is the Las Vegas of Ancient China
-Bouncers
-I love the female NPC that greeted Xie Lian she has a great voice and design
-Oh I know who that is
-He clutched his heart!
-“No thanks~” *Instantly fans myself*
-The camera pan to this throne!!! He is gay and he means business!!!
-James Cheek has ate it up!!!
-The soft “San Lang”
That was an awesome start to the Second Season. Sorry if I haven’t been posting I’m four weeks into my quarter and I also got back into writing fanfic, like the first chap of The scrap immortal and the Avatar. I’ll still do every reaction to Season 2 on weekends!

Alrighty. Here’s your chance to GET INVOLVED in the next Gremlin Gods episode. Prompting in 3…2…1… 💥
~*~*~ DEADLINE: Sunday 2nd July ~*~*~
PROMPT: How does your ‘dark’ deity manifest in the light half of the year for you? If at all? If not, why? Do they take on different attributes and aspects in relation to your local season? If yes, what do they symbolize then?
Gremlin Gods wants to (quite literally) hear your voice. And with your permission, place it in our next episode. Submit audio snippets (or text to be read out loud by the host, Eliza) of your poetry, song, short stories, rituals, prayers or any kind of creative composition to [email protected].
If you prefer to express how your deity manifests via sharing your own art, or your favourite visual artist’s or musician’s work with us instead… we’d love to hear about those too! Just remember to credit the artists appropriately within your submission, and we’ll make sure to do that in the episode too. Get curious, get creative! 🔥
Your audio / text submissions should ideally be no more than 3-5 minutes long. Within your file, you don’t have to introduce yourself or your name, however you are welcome to do so. Or if you prefer Gremlin Gods pre-announce you radio-style, please provide a moniker that can be read out instead.

There’s a lot of mystery women in Doctor Who this season. Here are my thoughts/theories on some of them in no particular order:
1. The woman who leaves Ruby at the church as a baby: I think it’s not her mother, but it’s Ruby leaving herself after giving up on the chance to find out who her mother is or losing/failing to save her mother or something like that. It does conflict a little with established lore around people coming in contact with their past selves but time is wibbly wobbly and Ruby is a special snowflake (as in she’s special and makes it snow, lol). And it would be the right kind of poetic for the series, historically speaking.
2. Mrs. Flood: Ruby’s neighbor, who apparently knows what a TARDIS is. I have a couple theories based on very little. Like there was that passing mention to Susan Foreman in The Devil’s Chord where the Doctor mentioned having a granddaughter, and it makes me wonder if she could be Susan, or some other past companion. Or maybe in a future episode, the Doctor will go on an adventure with Mrs. Flood either just after meeting her the first time or earlier in her life so she remembers it now.
3. Susan Twist: She has been in every episode. She seems to be part of this season’s story actively rather than Mrs. Flood who seems more like a long term mystery. I think she’s like the Bad Wolf of this season. I’ve thought that maybe she could be Ruby’s grandmother, and Ruby is either subconsciously manifesting her visage onto other people using the same source of power as the snow thing or the universe is trying to connect them. Or maybe she’s Susan Foreman (although that really wouldn’t make sense with being the woman quitting on the Space Baby ship). Or maybe both? Or a member of the Pantheon who is sneakily tangling herself in Ruby’s life to prepare for some future attack? Or like someone who was important to someone who founded the weapons company from Boom or to someone who sold the visage to a bunch of places. Like the hiker is the mother or grandmother to the person who founds some company that creates some AI software and uses her likeness, then it gets put into the ambulance and used when creating babies on the space baby station, one of which who grows up to work on one of the stations, etc. Only thing that I can’t work into that theory I think is fitting the one from 1963.
4. Ruby’s Mom: It could be someone important to the story, like a Time Lord or member of the pantheon or something, but I think she’ll just be a person who becomes involved in the story during or just before the finale and ends up sacrificing herself, and then someone else (possibly Ruby herself) delivers baby Ruby to the church.

I think I make it pretty obvious, but I am a massive Rose Tyler fan. And before any of you say it's because she was my first companion, she wasn't. My first companion was Clara and my first doctor was 12 (whom I love dearly).
I just really like Rose's character. I like her story because of her.
And people are allowed to not like her. But if you don't, for fucks sake don't scream at people who do. In comments or reblogs. Your just being a massive fucking dick. Also, quick heads up: This post will contain a lot of quotes from Doctor Who. Alongside some crude language. Some might find offense to the topics I discuss in this or how I wrote it. I will not apologize for that, nor will I attempt to make this friendlier.
Continuing on. But if you don't like her on the basis of her and the Doctor being shipped or in a romantic relationship. Then by that logic you shouldn't like River, or Clara, or Yaz. Or anyone that the Doctor has had romantic interactions with and was/is a love interest. Because no matter how you feel, Rose and the Doctor were romantic.
No ifs ands or buts about it. Especially considering some moments that happen in canon. A few that spring to mind are: "I could save the world but lose you." -9th Doctor, Season 1 Episode 5 'World War 3' to Rose ^- This quote is 9 all but admitting he's in love with her. The thought that saving the world would mean losing her is something he couldn't bear to happen. "What use are emotions, if you will not save the woman you love?" -Dalek / "I killed her once I can't do it again." -9th Doctor, Season 1 Episode 6 'Dalek' ^- Even a fucking Dalek could tell he was in love with her. A Dalek who had only recently begun to understand feelings outside of hatred, because of Rose. "He[Metacrisis 10] needs you. That's very me." -10th Doctor, Season 4 Episode 13 'Journey's End' to Rose "But if I believe in one thing... just one thing... I believe in her!" -10th Doctor, Season 2 Episode 9 'The Satan Pit' to The Beast/Satan ^- This is part of a larger quote but this is the most memorable part. The whole thing is: "But that implies, in this big grand scheme of gods and devils, that she's just a victim. Well, I've seen a lot of this universe. I've seen fake gods and bad gods and demi-gods and would-be gods. I've had the whole pantheon. But if I believe in one thing... just one thing... I believe in her!"
There are a few other examples that I can think of but I can't remember the exact phrasing. Like when Donna asked 10 what Rose and him were and he said, "We were... together." Those few obviously point out the Doctor's feelings for Rose. And even if you want to ignore those you can't ignore the fact that in Journey's End, Rose and Tentoo end up together. Comics even stating that they have a daughter together (Mia: Empire of the Wolf).
Hell even later on in the show when RTD wasn't the showrunner anymore there were still references to Rose. Like in Season 6's Episode 8 'Let's Kill Hitler' when the Doctor stumbles into the TARDIS and the emergency program activates and at first it's him, in his 11th incarnation, his current one. He says[pleads] "Oh, give me someone I like!" and the TARDIS chose Rose as the first choice, and don't give me any bullshit. The TARDIS is fully sentient and can understand the Doctor (stated in Season 6's Episode 4 'The Doctor's Wife'). The TARDIS heard the Doctor and chose someone she thought he'd like.
Oh! You want another example? How about Season 7's Episode 9 'Hide', featuring 11 and Clara when he's talking to her after the episode adventure is pretty much concluded about love, "It’s the oldest story in the universe. This one or any other. Boy and girl fall in love, get separated by events–war, politics, accidents in time. She’s thrown out of the hex or he’s thrown into it. Since then they’ve been yearning for each other across time and space. Across dimensions. This isn’t a ghost story, it’s a love story." Some specific points are literally parallels to Rose and the Doctor.
There's probably a few others that could be pointed out that are slipping my mind right now. Oooh how about this one: "Blimey" -9 / "Don't laugh." -Rose / "You look beautiful. Considering." -9 / "Considering what?" -Rose / "That you're a human." -9th Doctor, Season 1 Episode 3 'The Unquiet Dead'
If those don't read to you as the Doctor in love I don't know what would.
And if your wondering 'where is the evidence for Rose having feelings HUH smart guy???' ... do I need point out the episode where Rose canonly confesses her love for him? I do? Oh, ok. Here ya go: [Rose, choking on tears] "I... I love you." / [10 looking at her] Quite right too. (pause) And I suppose... if it's my last chance to say it... Rose Tyler - {connection ends} - Season 2 Episode 13 'Doomsday' ^- She FUCKING CONFESSED HER LOVE TO HIM!!!! And even though we don't actually know what 10 was going to say it is heavily implied that he was going to say 'I love you' back to her. Believing it would be his only chance ever. "You're never gonna see her again, your own mother!" -10 / "I made my choice a long time ago." -Rose, Season 2 Episode 13 'Doomsday' ^- Rose is willing to sacrifice being with her mother to stay with him. "How long are you gonna stay with me?"-10 / "Forever." -Rose, Season 2 Episode something ^- I can't remember the episode that this happens but I think it /might/ be School Reunion.
Even taking out the romantic stuff for their relationship they're friends.
Continuing to add more evidence from quote in the actual show: "So the year five billion, the sun expands, the earth gets roasted..." -10 / "That was our first date." -Rose / "We had chips!" -10, Season 2 Episode 1 'New Earth' ^- Oh? Would you look at that! Both of them think of that as their first date. And-AND in the episode that's mentioned, Season 1 Episode 2 'The End of the World' after the adventure they go to have chips and 9 says he doesn't have any money making Rose say that he's a 'cheap date'. Which he doesn't deny. "I don't age. I regenerate. But humans decay. You wither and you die. Imagine watching that happen to someone you..." -10 / "What, Doctor?" -Rose / "You can spend the rest of your life with me. But I can't spend the rest of mine with you. I have to live on, alone. That's the curse of the Timelords." -10, Season 2 Episode 3 'School Reunion' ^- My oh my, its almost like he's in love with her but holding back cause he doesn't want to see her die before his very eyes. "You can tell you're getting older, your assistants are getting younger." -Sarah Jane Smith / "I'm not his assistant." -Rose / "No?" [to 10] "Get you, tiger." -Sarah Jane Smith, Season 2 Episode 3 'School Reunion'
"Can you build another Tardis?" -Rose / "They were grown, not built. And with my home planet gone... we're kind of stuck" -10 / "Well, it could be worse; this lot said they'd give us a lift." -Rose / "And then what?" -10 / "I don't know. Find a planet, get a job, live a life, same as the rest of the universe." -Rose / "I'll have to settle down. With a house or something - a proper house with... with, with doors and things - carpets! Me! Living in a house!... Now that, that - that is terrifying." -10 / "You'd have to get a mortgage!" -Rose / "No!" -10 / "Oh yes!" -Rose / "No, I'm dying, that's it, it is all over." -10 / "What about me? I'd have to get one too!" [pause] "I don't know, we could have the same one, we could both... I don't know, share... or not. Whatever. I don't know, all sorts of..." -Rose / "Anyway" -10 / "We'll see." -Rose / [pause] "I promised Jackie I'd always take you back home" -10 / "Everyone leaves home in the end." -Rose / "Not to end up stuck here." -10 / " Yeah, but stuck with you - that's not so bad." -Rose / "Yeah?" -10 / "Yes." -Rose, Season 2 Episode 8 'The Impossible Planet' ^- Good gods look at that! Rose being fully accepting and telling 10 that being stuck with him wouldn't be so bad and him not being able to believe that someone would want to stay with him and he's like 'yeah?' because someone willingly staying with him and never leaving is such a foreign concept.
"They did what?" -10 / "I'm sorry?" -Detective Inspector Bishop / "They left her[Rose] where?" -10 / "Just... in the street." -Detective Inspector Bishop / "The street. They left her in the street. The took her face, and just chucked her out and left her in the street. And as a result, that makes things... simple. Very, very simple. Do you know why?" -10 / "No." -Detective Inspector Bishop / "Because now, Detective Inspector Bishop, there is no power on this earth that can stop me!" -10, Season 2 Episode 7 'The Idiot's Lantern' ^- As dark as this may seem, it certainly isn't 10's worst after losing Rose. That honour would go to when he was fully willing to DIE after losing her as we saw in 'Turn Left'. Rose is so fucking special to him that any time she is harmed and gone he loses it. She is the one holding him together.
Also for fucks sake she was constantly a presence in Season's 3 and 4 of the revival. Also also, during several episodes starting as early as Season 1 Episode 2 'The End of the World' people assume that they are together romantically.
And if you try to pull; "Oh but River is canonically married to the Doctor!" so is Rose. She is married to Tentoo, who is the Doctor. Also River is not solely married to the Doctor, it is established in canon that River was/has been married to multiple people outside of the Doctor. While married to him.
Reality is I could expand upon this post a lot more, but I'm choosing to cut myself off here.

5 Anti LO Asks
(Note: All of these asks are before episode 206 (Season 2 finale) so some may be dated.) 1. I literally thought Hebe was Hera in the recent release 😐 That goes to show how uncreative Rachel is at designing her characters.
2. Ok, what I’m starting to see a lot of from both the anti-LO side and pro-LO side (and the mythology fandom in general) is people tend to treat the original myths like they are some kind of book series with established lore and timelines. It’s doesn’t really work that way. Ancient Greece was a large place with many different religious sectors with their interpretations, versions, and even their own Gods. Not all of ancient Greece believed in the Olympian Pantheon for example- which is why you had separate cults and mysteries for specific Gods and Goddesses.
Basically, where I’m going with this is that the Abduction of Persephone does indeed treat Hades as a bad guy - a minor antagonists if you will (the main one was of course Zeus). However, other myths do not and that is why many assume that Persephone and Hades had a good relationship - in these myths, Persephone was always the Queen of the Underworld - never the goddess of Spring. Even the Adonis myth has Persephone as basically the sole Queen of the Underworld with no husband, falling in love with him.
So, basically, the Persephone of the Abduction tale that was popularized by the Eleusinian mysteries (which even the mysteries came from an even older religion) is not technically the same Persephone from other myths. The abduction is a belief system that focuses on Persephone and Demeter as life and death Goddesses - which is why they are the heroes and Zeus and Hades are villains. However, not everyone believed in this version and just thought Persephone as the Queen of the Underworld and nothing else.
There is no established lore and timeline - these are separate stories that share similarities only because the people lived in close proximity with each other and shared them. This is why there are so many versions and so many different interpretations of the same ‘characters’. The only reason we have a sort of ‘canon’ interpretations is because they were the only ones we could recover because these were written down unlike so many others.
3. LO fans love saying the comic is full of diversity when it has taken more than 3 years to actually include “diversity”…
4. Just to correct that one anon: WT is slowly upping the prices to all FP from 5 to 7 (thanks economic inflation!) but they didn't announce it until AFTER people noticed and complained. If they were upfront about it from the start people wouldn't have been as upset, but they didn't so now it's biting the first creators who had this happen to in the butt. Apparently a fair few LO fans stopped FP-ing it because of the lack of transparency. There's a lot to critique RS on but this is WT's fault.
5. Ya know, I'm not opposed to obvious self insert fantasies, ore power to you, but the issue is RS wants to claim LO is very much NOT that and she's actually this deep, nuanced writer who is more legitimate than the actual Greek poets with a deep epic of a story with complex characters and it's like ... yeah no you can't claim that when the story is lazily mashed together fanfic tropes, countless retcons, and everyone is bent over backwards for the stale wafer known as Y/N - I mean Persephone.

Pantheon AU things, Part II
Tumblr media
You know what I noticed about the og show?
THAT THE VILLAINS WERE SUPER OVERHYPED AND UNDERUSED.
I’m talking specifically about Lady Bone Demon and Macaque. My babies were some of the most badass characters in their first run, but then you’re- you’re just gonna have them get WIPED LIKE A DIRTY TABLE
“The Samadhi Fire is the only way to defeat the Lady Bone Demon!” BABE WHAT
YOU JUST WENT STRAIGHT IN, NO PLAN, NO WEAPON, JUST WAS ABOUT TO STRAIGHT MURK HER
And don’t even get me started on macaque, like bro was such a good villain in his first two episodes, with all the needless theatrics only meant to screw with MK and all. But then in season 3 they’re like “oh no he’s actually not such a bad guy let’s make him way weaker than he was in his debut episode”
My guy has omnipotent control over shadows. He can sink into them with no problem. He can fly, and even if he couldn’t, he can turn into a bird.
Pray tell, HOW did he get knocked off into a freakin PITCH DARK HOLE, WHEN LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE ON BOARD, WHO, MIND YOU WERE JUST ABOUT READY TO KNEEL OVER, WERE ABLE TO KEEP CATCH ONTO SOMETHING AND KEEP THEIR HOLD???
So yeah in the Pantheon AU (and the “AU where everything is exactly the same but the lady bone demon destroys everyone with facts and logic”) I would like to avoid ruining them like that.
SO YES, I will be using both LBD and Macaque to their full potential, they deserve it, Macaque was goated in season 1 and 2, season 3 macaque…. 😐
He’s nah
Azure Lion Demon, Lady Bone Demon and Macaque? About to be the ILLEST power trio. Watch out, Monkey King 😎
Also LBD, even without me crediting her in full is more powerful in this au bc she doesn’t have to worry about destroying her host’s body because she’s not using one, just her own body.
500 years later, after a lot of plotting and stealing power, Lady Bone Demon says that they can finally enact… the plan 😼
To draw the Monkey King out of hiding, Lady Bone Demon uses her brilliant gaslight gatekeep girlboss skills to manipulate the Demon Bull Family.
She uses her mystical levitation whiz or whatever that is to lift the staff bc I saw her do it like it wasn’t nothing once
And BOOM DBK is free and has an spooky advisor who is definitely plotting something, also becoming best friends with Princess Iron Fan because YES
AWE AND HER BEING A SASSY AUNT TO RED SON, OH NO I LOVE THEM
Ok change of plans because I’m a wimp Demon Bull Family joins the pantheon. Azure lion would like that anyway bc DBK used to be in gang.
except for red son who doesn’t want the world to blow up
Of course Azure Lion, Lady Bone Demon and Macaque are still the main trio 🥰
OOH FAMILY DRAMA I AM ON A ROLL

Could you give us examples of what you're looking for in prompt submissions? Or share previous year's prompts? I'm not sure if you just want single words, a few words, or like a whole sentence and I don't wanna be annoying and get it wrong! Also how long are submissions open for? Ty!!! <3
Hello! Single phrases work best. So maybe that's 'Coffee Shop Au,' 'Stardust,' 'Love,' or 'First Kiss.' It doesn't have to be one word, but we'd prefer not to receive a sentence, either.
Also, I promise, you couldn't be annoying even if you tried <3 I do thank you for asking. It did not dawn on me to outline such submission guidelines. I'll update the pinned post with this information, too. If you are able to access the search function or check out tags (which is easiest in the about section- there's a glossary of terms you can use that all have links (makes it easier for mobile users)), the old prompts should be listed under shadamyweek2022 and 2021 respectively, along with all of the art posted to those prompts! However, for the sake of putting all the information in one place, the following are the prompts from years previous
ShadAmy Week 2021:
1-Chao Care/ Dream 2- Domestic Fluff/ Magic 3- First Meeting/ Cosmic 4-Teasing/Cooking 5-Seasons/Proposal 6-Soulmate Au/ Shenanigans 7-Gods and Pantheons/ Song or Art Inspo ShadAmy Week2022:
1- Future or Past/ Fankids 2-Folklore/Fairytales 3-Trapped Together/Promise 4-First Date/ Comically Drawn Out Confession 5-Baking/ Magical Girl Au 6-Wedding/Body Swap 7-Dancing/Flowers Last day to submit prompts (so far as I am aware) will be May 1st. We usually pick two themes per day so as to give people options, but as we are doing a different method of aggregating data this year, it is going to take us some time to get things organized XD Plus, we want people to be able to brainstorm and prep before the actual week starts!
If it helps at all, the following are themes we had but ended up not going with. Perhaps one of these will catch your fancy! And hey, even if something you like doesn't get into this year, there's always next year (or you can just use it as a personal prompt!) Unused from 2021

Might as well give an update now. As usual, life happened and things are slow going. Slow going, but not stopped.
Again, this is a fan project. I am unfortunately unable to hire people (i am a “broke college student” lol) so participating in this project is a much appreciated but unpaid volunteering of your time and efforts.
Here’s what the next few steps look like:
1) i need to complete the rough drafts of the first half of season 1 (nearly there). initially was going to do the whole season but i need to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later.
2) put out VA audition information. put out beta/sensitivity reader information. maybe find co-writers too (i would stay lead, but i know other people would be able to write the experiences of some of the characters more authentically. i’d prefer sharing credit over presenting a hollow imitation of an experience i have insufficient understanding of). if you are interested read below*
3) send completed drafts to beta and sensitivity readers. review VA submissions
* the first half of season 1 will probably be exclusively by me unless any readers want to offer up their assistance but hopefully released episodes will garner interest from people to join on. i will specifically be looking for (preferably queer red vs blue fans due to the content):
- people who grew up in or are now part of religions aside from christianity (particularly jewish, muslim, greek pantheon pagan, satanist, modern druidry, jewish-christian interfaith household), ex-religion counts.
-are of the racial background of one of the characters (i am white and most of them are not. while i have generalities in mind, i am open to suggestions of particular cultures for those unspecified. chinese american, latino americans, black americans, south asian americans, middle eastern americans, mixed identities among the priorly listed).
a couple things are up in the air due to being dependent on what VAs i find (eg: there is a latino character whose birth country will depend on where the voice actor is from).
while i want to bring underrepresented identities to the forefront, no amount of research can compare to having the right people in the “writers room”. i love the characters i’ve created but i want others to see parts of themselves in them that i am not equipped to write. so while i’d like the core of the characters to be the same in personality and whatnot, i’d love to work with others to round them out to not superficially have a label tacked on that they don’t exemplify
if this interests you, please dm me to let me know. i will have more formal documents for VA auditions and readers later this summer but knowing there is interest in being writers or sensitivity readers sooner rather than later would be great. please also specify the identities/areas you would be comfortable representing

HOLY FUCK! The ending of the series 'Pantheon' is one of the BIGGEST MIND FUCKS EVER!
YOU KNOW THERE'S SPOILERS!
ok....nm. It is too good to waste. So HINTS....alluding to stuff...
Let me just say: till episode 6, great well written balanced season. Not bad, but nothing as good as the first season honestly.
THEN THE LAST TWO EPISODES GO INTO THE FUTURE.
Maybe even so far into the future, besides like 'the end of time/suns ending' (dr who) that no show has ever gone that far.
And I am not gonna tell you what happens BUT...
If I had to say the ending and you would ONLY understand if you got these references:
>the matrix (duh)
>a VERY specific episode of the cartoon 'the gargoyles' where they have to stop a super nano bot computer from taking over the world (it's one of the BEST).
>AND a VERY specific trilogy written by John C Wright called 'the golden transcendence (a difficult read for non sci fi peeps. THICK fucking books).
ALL 3 of those combine to make this ending. And each of those was a MIND FUCK of their own, so combined in a totally original way of its' own?
FUCK YEAH. GO WATCH IT!
<side note-if you in ANY WAY thought this was gonna be how it all ended in season 1, YOU'RE A FUCKING GENIUS. NEVER saw the last 2 episodes coming. OUTTA LEFT FIELD, but in a GREAT fucking way.
Also if they make a season 3, FUCK YOU. PERFECT UNEXPECTED ENDING.

Great Star Trek Rewatch - Enterprise S3
Originally posted on Twitter 16 September 2019 - 10 January 2020
Enterprise Season 3 is up next in my Great Star Trek Rewatch. As in Seasons 1 and 2, mini-reviews will document my progress.
The Xindi: Good action, a suspenseful mystery. The 5-species Xindi are a great addition to the Trek pantheon. The first neuropressure scene is extremely awkward and objectifying, and I'm taking 2 points for that. Still, a somewhat strong start to Season 3. 8/10
Anomaly: Our heroes are forced to compromise their ethics, as the mysteries of the Delphic Expanse deepen. It’s still jarring to see Archer nearly suffocate a prisoner to get information. Good action at the end. 7/10
Extinction: I didn’t like this one when it was “Identity Crisis” on TNG, so I really don’t like “Extinction”. If I was a first-time viewer who stumbled onto this episode back in 2003, I’d probably never give Trek another chance. Just awful. 1/10
Rajiin: The women of ENT are once again the unfortunate victim of a tone-deaf, misogynistic, exploitative script. Star Trek hasn’t ever handled sexuality with the greatest aplomb, and this episode proves it. 3/10
Impulse: Day of the Dead Vulcans! A shockingly effective teaser and a truly scary coda elevates a basic zombie story. Jolene Blalock gives one of her best T’Pol performances in this episode. The trellium poisoning will have later ramifications. 8/10
Exile: Hoshi and the Beast, and an Archer & Reed subplot. Both plots move the season arc forward, but it’s an otherwise forgettable entry. 5/10
The Shipment: We learn more about the Xindi here, as a crucial piece of the plot is advanced with the titular kemocite shipment. 8/10
Twilight: One of ENT’s finest episodes. A spatial anomaly renders Archer much like Leonard Shelby. A reset button episode, sure, but a sweet and touching episode that evolves Archer and T’Pol’s friendship. 10/10
North Star: I don't care that this is a Space Western, I love this episode. The stakes are relatively low but it's a rollicking ride. It's fun to see our heroes doing exactly what Pike, Kirk, Picard, Sisko, or Janeway would do, but before the Federation exists. 9/10
Similitude: Y’all. One of the all-time great ethical debates Star Trek has ever posed. Another excellent season 3 installment. 10/10
Carpenter Street: An engaging time-travel yarn with some subtle commentary on early 21st century American life. Archer and T’Pol are an underrated pairing. The great Leland Orser is the icing on the cake. 8/10
Chosen Realm: It’s heavy-handed, and D’Jamat is a hateable villain with absolutely no redeeming qualities. I feel no sympathy for these people. I demand justice for the poor unnamed sciences crew person blown out into space by the suicide bomber. 6/10
Proving Ground: The Andorians offer assistance, but it’s just a ruse to get their hands on a WMD that would defeat the Vulcans. Archer’s solution is ingenious. Nice VFX here too. 7/10
Stratagem: The titular stratagem is exceedingly clever. The one that closes out the episode is even better. Degra is a sympathetic villain. 8/10
Harbinger: The plots with the mysterious alien and the MACO-Starfleet tensions are great. Had this ep focused on that, it would’ve been better. What’s not great is the T’Pol-Cole-Tucker Triangle, culminating in the infamous nude scene. It drags the score down by 5 points. 3/10
Doctor’s Orders: I liked this one better when it was “One” on Voyager. 4/10
Hatchery: The reverse-imprinting twist is intriguing, but it also feels very similar to “Extinction” (not a good thing). It’s an utterly forgettable entry. 5/10
Azati Prime: Wow. Tense from the jump, excellent plot advancement, and a truly harrowing, nail-biting conclusion. 10/10
Damage: A quieter "second act" to Azati Prime, Archer has to make some tough calls that are explicitly compared to the marauders from earlier in the season. He also manages to sow some doubt among the Xindi Council. 8/10
The Forgotten: Trip's struggle with writing a condolence letter to a fallen colleague masks his trauma over his sister's death. His scene with T'Pol in the wrecked corridor is incredibly moving, as is his condolence letter. The Degra plot is duly advanced, as well. 10/10
E²: I’ve watched this one four or five times while trying to review it for this rewatch, and it still does nothing for me. DS9’s “Children of Time” has the same basic plot, but is more memorable and poignant. This episode is basically marking time to the final episodes. 4/10
The Council: Pour one out for Degra and Cpl Hawkins. What starts as a slow, methodical dialog-heavy episode goes from 0-60 in the final minutes with the launch of the Xindi weapon and Hoshi’s abduction. 8/10
Countdown: The body count rises: the Xindi-Insectoid Councillor and Maj Hayes (in a tragic subversion of the last-second beam-out trope). The Sphere Builders play their hand as the weapon deploys. Meanwhile, our heroes discover the thermal exhaust port of the spheres. 9/10
Zero Hour: Y’all. ENT’s biggest spectacle to date. The Xindi weapon is destroyed (featuring a stone-cold Archer killing Dolim with a bomb), the Sphere Builders are defeated, and…NAZIS?! This episode ties up ENT’s strongest season to date while keeping us hooked for S4. 10/10
And with that, Season 3 of ENT comes to an end in my Great Star Trek Rewatch. Final score: 7.04/10. Highest score(s): “Twilight,” “Similitude,” “Azati Prime,” “The Forgotten,” “Zero Hour”. Lowest score(s): “Extinction”
